>>98488010>tq:(
>>98488020I want them merged with Hexwraiths into a real horseman unit
I play mainly narrative so will play Har Kuron.Want to think of unique rules
>>98488041Use any aelf models you want (monsters not included)
>>98488033banshee proxies for me because I hate how spindly they are
>>98488041>fighting near terrain advantages - trained for combat within the city>conspiratorial plots - battle tactics furthering Morathi's aims, offer advantage when achieved >Darkling Covens could sacrifice Order captives for buffs instead of their own models >Ulgu magic for deception >Hide a Fanatic style unit in an enemy unit if fighting CoS
>>98488186>>Hide a Fanatic style unit in an enemy unit if fighting CoSalright this would be kino. Could honestly be expanded to every order (and maybe chaos) enemy, to depict morathi's spies and infiltrants
>>98488010Sons of Velmorn as a skeletal lichMollog as a troggboss from a small cave
>>98488351Maneater as a maneater (but get rid of the tokens there are far to many)
>>98488351Oh yeah mollog would be a great little troggoth hero addition.
>>98488397I think he'd be better as a unit. Troggoths can slot into a lot of regiments so having another 150~ hero seems restrictive A 120~ utility unit would be preferable, have a bunch of Troggoths with critters
>>98488439In gameplay terms I agree, but in practice it's odd to have an extremely monopose "unit" with three tokens to boot. Would feel a little odd I think. All the other warbands-turned-units are heroes right?
>>98488491Stormcast and Pestilens aren't not the others are heroes or a weird split of a hero with a possibly optional additional unit. Warcry already has weird units so it's a question of if you want to play with just one generic mollog unit or not? If he's a free hero for regiments you're coupling him with a mandatory Troggboss or Trugg. If you're bring him as a regiment leader than you're only taking Troggoths in it.Just seems daft, a unit has flexibility and he's smaller than Rockguts he'd lead
>>98488491I would make mollog a special character actually
>>98488512The plaguepack doesn't have the hero keyword you're right, but it is unique at least
>>98488581They're all unique, like Warcry units. Too difficult to reconcile the obvious champion figures
>>98488624>like Warcry units.are they?
>>98488644Monsta killaz are not unique, same with gorgers
>>98488675>This unit cannot be reinforcedis what they mean >>98488581Plaguepack isn't unique but it can't be reinforced
>>98488624Not all of them are. The sunblood pack isn't unique off the top of my head, and I think neither is the gitmob one.>>98488680Oh my bad I guess I was looking at the wrong warscroll, seems there's a generic plaguepack one and a specific skabbik's plaguepack

I'd love to see Dromm's Gorechosen return as a High Slaughterpriest with body guards.
>>98488010They really need to. How long are they going to blueball Order of Azyr? We have a hero, we just need a unit.
>>98488740Hands down the peak of Khrone's long UW career (that somehow never included demons)
>>98488768*ok it did include 1 haund, i forgot about him
I kind of wish cogforts could be mount options for wizards. At least for cities.
>>98488768it is kind of funny how they've simultaneously got the most warbands but no real demon one like the others. I guess that might still be in the cards? We were supposed to get at least 10 more warbands out of underworlds after all, after that it's anybody's guess.
>>98488820at this point you should know better than to expect gw to stick to patterns
>>98488781They will get an upgrade sprue or new kit for it according to boole

>>98488913You're one w away from becoming a cuck
Anyone thinking it could easily be some a Lumineth Realm-lords hero T-posing on some floating rocks. Better question is it part of a wider temple release or is it a single model?
>>98488952the rocks are a bit too rough for lumineth, and they don't use skulls on their bases, also the mountain temple is already completethe weirdest part is that flock is upside down, so we're looking at something that's effectively tilling the soil and unearthing those magical(?) rocksI'd be led to think dwarfs
>>98488952Best question: why the fuck does this look like some kind of overhang going further downs
>>98488952Wider release. Part of a end of edition campaign. Every GA gets one update- LRL for Order- HoH for Chaos- KB for Destruction- FEC for DeathI have no source and I won't be accepting any feedback

What interests me most about TLW is how Emberneth society changes when Aqshy is gone
>>98489094emberneth are already long extinct, anon, nothing changes for them, they're not a thing
>>98489094Emberneth posting. That's something I haven't seen for months now.
>>98489100emberneth will probably be the dominant aelves in TLW thoughbeit because leakers have said malerion isn't coming any time soon 4th edition was the edition of Duardin 5th edition will be the edition of Aelves (Emberneth, Chaos Aelves, and maybe a small wave for DoK)
>>98489176
>>98489181You know it's true. Fyreslayers squatted. HoH retconned to be Ghur based instead of Aqshy. They're making way for Emberneth as the Aqshy army.
Sorry for TLW posting here, but the rumor terrifies me for how widespread and believed it is.Wouldn't TLW just destroy the setting when AoS has been doing very well recently? It seems to be an extremely retarded thing to do, no? You don't risk big changes like this unless your IP is dying, right?
>>98489209>It seems to be an extremely retarded thing to do, no?sounds like exactly the kind of move GW would make
>>98489206>Fyreslayers squattedYou're not good at this
>>98489209are you going to try this concern trolling every single thread lmao
>>98489209It’s something that no matter what you do, it won’t change anything set in motion. Sit back and wait
>>98488952I was thinking Necrons, but it can be anything with some weird anti-grav technology/magic.
>>98489209GW does dumb shit like that regardless of how well the setting is doing. It don't matter if it's gathering storm, psychic awakening, or octarius.
>>98488952this is 40k almost certainly. Necron, Votann or Eldar / Drukhari
>>98489209AoS doesn't have a setting tied to geography or cosmology. The realms are basically background trivia. Armies are defined by fluff exploring their societal structures and racial motivations in an abstract sense. If 99% of a battletome can be reprinted for TLW, did realms really matter?AoS has increasingly moved away from Realms as the story develops. Since 2e Realms shifted to precise islands within a realm, then "here's a map of the whole realm" (Hysh). GW never cared. There have been 0 realm themed... Anything really. Fyreslayers have keys and there's Aqshy wizards but once they shift realms back to the winds of magic or whatever that'll all hold as much relevance
>>98488952could probably be a golem. The sand texture is weird though.
>>98489209The IP isn't dying, but it's not growing, GW in 10 years has failed to have the setting take roots in people; people like the miniatures, people like the game, but they don't like the setting.GW is also on the cusp of another significant jump in the notoriety of its IPs, so it is perfectly in line for them to make one last cleanup of it before presenting what's hopefully a more attractive setting to a new and larger audience. From the rumors we have, which are also largely to be believed at least to some level, it's less of a destruction of the setting and more of a destruction of everything about the setting that they haven't used so far, so the scope at large is narrowing, but what's been in focus up until stays in focus with little to no change.
>>98489248none of those are Fyreslayers
>>98489248Khazalid Underkings you mean?
Imagin writing walls of text only for everyone to scroll past them because they're glancing at their phones waiting to leave work
>>98489276Metrics show its growing though, not sure what you are on about other than vibes. But I can buy the argument that might want to "optimize" the setting before the Amazon shows hit.
>>98489293These aren't walls of text, unless you have the attention span of a house fly.
>>98489348TLDR keep it to one line
>>98489341What metrics are these?
>>98489442the stuff GW manipulates to pretend AoS is successful: profit reports to shareholders, internal investment, search engine frequency, social media tracking, etc it's obvious someone inside GW is pumping millions up keep AoS alive despite the IP basically being dead and even Warhammer stores stopped selling it to instead stock TOW
>>98489477
>>98489477I know this is in jest but I've seen people actually argue half the shit on that list with full sincerity
>>98489477I just know it will evolve into "GW agent in plainclothes keep buying AoS boxes to prop up this failed IP"
>>98489442community trackers (honest war gamer and woehammer) for competitive play show consistent growth yoy, this one being the highest so farreddit activity, both in total subs and weekly visitors, highest now than everi dont remember what the actual numbers were for box sets sold, but they obviously correlate with popularity trackers.there are others (most are popularity metrics) and they all point towards AoS getting increasingly popular"AoS is dying/stagnant" is doomer retardation. best argument you can make with the data is maybe it could be growing faster, but its the 2nd best product line for GW so take that for what it is
>>98489537>"AoS is dying/stagnant" is doomer retardationit's just shitposting by tww secondaries and fakegrogs
>>98489537Competitive participation is a terrible metric. GW make over half a billion but the biggest tournament is 360 people. It has no bearing on anything save itself and ultimately if it were significant it would be indicative of how quickly the game is going to die (see Warmachine)
>>98489537>and they all point towards AoS getting increasingly popularand which one of those metrics point to the setting being popular instead of just the miniatures and games? because there's a difference and it's the difference that would convince gw to overhaul the setting
>>98489596it all correlates my guy.comp play may be on the tail end of the AoS distribution curve, but big jumps on the tail is still evidence for a general shift in the curve, making it a useful metric. i wouldnt rely on it solely since you can have plenty of confounders, but if comp play is trending upwards then everything else is likely too.
>>98489629What's the evidence that the setting is unpopular? AoS is making more money than ever, that seems like evidence more people are liking the setting than before.
>>98489644I'm not arguing AoS isn't increasingly popular, just that tournament data is basically irrelevant. I could argue GW scrapping bi-annual GHBs proves competitive play is irrelevant.
Cool model i saw
>>98489662nta but one could argue with Soulbound, games, and BL output apparently the best selling novel for AoS is Soul Wars, which would've been when AoS was virtually at it's lowest point of sales since then.
>>98489677so AoS has only made more money year on year but an ancient book is still the highest grossing - one whose contents are basically irrelevant to the current setting which is defined by edition specific momentous events
>>98489692Because the game and miniatures sell, but the setting doesn't.
>>98489667That is pretty cool, both the conversion and the unique scheme>>98489677Soul wars? Really? Where does that information come from?I guess if that actually is true, it probably has something to do with the massive influx of 40k people into AoS at the time. I remember lots of people at the time bitching about the state of 40k and being more willing to give AoS a try, since with malign portents into 2nd edition it was very much on the upswing at the time. Still, wouldn't have been my first guess
>>98489490I don't know what you're laughing at. Dind't you hear abotu the 4 (FOUR!) new objects they're building?
>>98489664im saying that tournament data shows the tail of the popularity distribution curve so it does matter. every popularity metric is a different snapshot of the distribution curve of all AoS players. if someone says AoS is not growing, but every snapshot of the curve shows growth, you know they are wrong. tourney play is an additional piece of evidence that further confirms the trend.if search engine results were down, reddit saw no growth, but you had a small uptick in tournament players, you could surmise that hardcore players are fine with the hobby but you are facing a potential issue with attracting new blood. having that information is useful, so tournament data is relevant to the discussion of how popular AoS is.you are simply getting hung up on the fact that it isn't the singular best metric. its not, but only someone who cant interpret data correctly would think its irrelevant.
>>98489710a Josh Reynolds interview on the Jordan Sorcery youtube channel worth a listen though it's mostly his life story and complaining about how GW treated BL as disposable/irrelevant. It sort of implies the change in Gotrek's authorship wasn't something based on anything save how GW felt on the day it was commissioned because he said they told him he probably won't write the dark harvest sequel just because they don't care either way kek
>>98489733Tournament data only says "3k players exist". It could mean everyone is a cheesy waacfag because there's nothing else left or it could mean (as it does) that there hundreds of thousands of players and of them attend tournaments.
>>98489739>Josh Reynolds I know this is all retarded bait by a lazy brownoid, but this one is so retarded i jsut have to respond. So your source for book sells is from 2020 at best and you use it talk about what's most popular in 2026?
>>98489739I remember his tweets about that, but that was more than 6 years ago at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if some things changed since then.
>>98489781*4 years, fat fingers
Digging the new ogres very much. Easy to assemble, almost no mouldlines. Nice chonky sculpts that aren't overly busy.Going to paint a test model today.Didn't expect for the rest of the lineup to release so soon. Anything you're planning on consooming this week, ogre bros?
>>98489805>Anything you're planning on consooming this week, ogre bros?Probably food
We've gotten one novel this year already (First Marshal) and another on the way (Blood of the Godeater) plus an omnibus that may include a new novella (Witch Hunters: The Omnibus)We got 6 novels last year,
>>98489820Everything is food if you're ogor enough
>>98489537I am very very sure that Honest wargamer use to not count tournaments with less than like 25 people and he only changed that recently. So if he is counting smaller tournaments it looks bigger.
>>98489805Stocking up on BCR with picrel (and Hunters/Raiders to kitbash)
>>98489838Forgot the lizard one
>>98488041Broken Realms: Morathi had HK battle traits, you could check those out for ideas
>>98489907That was last year, I'm not counting paperback
>>98489739Bro Josh Reynolds hasn't been relevant to BL since 2E. He doesn't know shit about which novels are popular now. He's just saying that Soul Wars is HIS best selling AoS novel.
>>98489838There’s probably gonna be a number of new novels for new slayers
>>98489968Probably, Dwarfs and Elves are staples of BL fiction.
>>98489968HoH and Ogres and Gitmob too for sure
>>98489958>that was last yearWhat the fuck I thought it came out like 3 months ago at best
>>98490069The paperback was this year but the hardback was last. Bit daft to count each version as a new novel
>>98489677I strongly disagree with BL output being low when compared with the player base.Last year we had 6 novels. 40k had 18. That seems very generous to Sigmar's faithful given that 40k is definitely more than 3x our size.Soulbound and games are a good point, though I argue that games have mostly been bad luck with terrible game developers. Realms of Ruin is the best example of this.
>>98490052Ogres are never going to get a standalone book. They’re good as a companion piece but you can’t write a book starring them, they aren’t as alien as seraphon to warrant that and if you tried the book will just turn them into humans. Gitmob is just weird, and HOH are kinda dependent on their new distant cousins to get a dedicated bl book. Lumineth have enough shit going on that they can be independent from their old dark elf rivalry or whatever in fb but smiths do need to play off of new slayers.
>>98490076Shame that one Nexon sponsored soulslike, where you play a steelhelm, was cancelled, AoS really needs a general audience game and not a niche sub-set of an RTS game (which is already a niche genre by itself.)
>>98490097That game looked like ass. It was an mmo, and you shouldn’t want anything from nexon.
>>98490097fantasy helldivers is the game they should do
>>98490102It's not MMO.Nexon was only a publisher/sponsor, that was their only involvement. And game looked fine, like any other soulslike really.
>>98490077Ultimately, most armies don't get dedicated novels, though short stories are another matter. For Destruction, only Gits get full novels, basically.KO have several novels, I think partly because it's really easy to focus stories on a "ships crew" party size level of adventurers. Fyreslayers don't have a lot of novels but they show up constantly as allies or friendly supporting characters, I would say even more so than KO, who tend to get cast in neutral or even antagonist roles outside their own books. Among the Elves, LRL get by far the most attention, followed by DoK, Deepkin, and finally Sylvaneth who like Fyreslayers tend to be cast in supporting roles, either as allies or enemies (or both) Seraphon obviously only have one book. Death books tend to focus on horror, with the death army cast as the antagonist, with the notable exception of Vampires who get tons of PoV novels. Chaos is...mostly STD or like random barbarians. There's a fair number of Chaos Novels but very few sequels.
>>98490077Mawtribes will get a book, they just won't be the protagonist of it like every other destruction book
>>98490076tbf one of those novels last year was to accompany a character that released two years before that I think AoS has a healthy enough output but they do recycle novellas a lot imo
How does Abraxia scale compared to Archaon? Could you swap the torsos?
>>98490077No reason you couldn't have an episodic book about maneaters
is this book actually about him and is he a chad?
>>98490128We used to get new books and short stories almost every month back in 2e, what happened?
>>98490211Maneaters getting corrupted, yeah. Have a Maneater overwhelmed by peer pressure and faith in the Maw
>>98490215Godeater's Son is about him. He is sometimes a Chad, but is written a bit inconsistently.
>>98490223no one cares about the setting anymore
>>98490223I noticed recently GW did an experiment run for new authors; the latest novellas are all new guys. They probably have a disorderly structure. AoS may have everything assigned to TLW's revamp and 40k is ofc always expanding. I would say TOW is another diversion but I think GW abandoned that.
>>98490233no one cared about the setting period
>>98490128That book was so bleak and had so much body horror. Loved it.
>>98490233I think we're also seeing fewer releases of new titles for 40k, which is drawing more attention than ever.
>>98490215Not really, he's a whiny bitch who falls into the position of chaos champion. Basically every parody about Archaon is true in him. I don't worship Chaos, I just hate Sigmar and Order! Being nice is... LE BAD! It is worth a read for the comedy, though.
>>98490282I heard good things about the book before, what gives?
>>98490306Chaosfags lmao
>>98490277thats what happens when you kill an actual good setting for fantasy slop and quick cash grabs
>>98490423What year are you from?
>>98490423>A decade of year on year growth Quick and consistent profit I guess. Can't complain from GW's perspective
new player here. I'm curious about age of sigmar and debating if I want to get into it or the old world which is more popular I figure. Can anyone tell me if they have changed since launch much? Do you guys still not use points and win games by having moustaches?
>>98490444lol why is it always about GW profits for you shill freaksI just want a setting that has good minis, good setting and a good ruleset
What is Morathi's tax policy?
>>98490492yeah, just because AoS makes money doesn't mean people like it more. I buy AoS models IN SPITE OF AoS! I'm here for WHF, my love and soul.
>>98490492I just want AoS to not feel like a bare board where two blobs of the most optimal units crash into each other.
>>98490512>I'm here for WHF, my love and soul.Shallow love and soul then I guess
>>98490465>Do you guys still not use points and win games by having moustaches?Man I wish
>go to LGS to pre-order the new Butcher and a box of Cleavers>$53 for the Butcher, $60 for Cleavers>4 models for $113 USD before taxes/discounts Fuck
>>98490512i get your being an asshole, but a lot of people unironically feel this way.AoS has the best models, no one denies that. they are works of art compared with 40shit and still better than anything from WFH. TOW's models are really good because of AoS. but GW figured out that novelty is what sells, not a grounded setting or compelling narrative. the extreme high fantasy lets them come up with crazy models, but the lore suffers in the longterm the fact that the lore defenders always resort to profitability arguments as if typical player even gives a shit about that proves ityou can still enjoy AoS for what its worth, the minis, without having to defend its bad sides is what im saying and how most people feel
>>98490444GW is absolutely complaining because they expected it to pick up like 40k did, and now they're bashing their heads once again a soft-reboot hoping third time's the charm.
>>98490658>the fact that the lore defenders always resort to profitability arguments as if typical player even gives a shit about that proves itAnon, the op of that exchange brought up profitability in the first place, then whined when correctedI agree that years of arguments have made some people overly prickly and willing to defend stuff that really isn't a positive, but this is not such a case
>>98490658>i get your being an asshole, but a lot of people unironically feel this way.Yes, the majority of people "interested" in Warhammer's fantasy side are Vermintide or TWW fans who have never touched a mini but feel very strongly about TOW lore being superior to AoS lore, which they haven't really interacted with but have read a LOT of memes about.
Question for the loremasters:I'm trying looking into how people living in Chaos controlled areas live and it seems like everyone is tribal now and being elevated either towards the path of daemonhood with mutations or getting turned into some kind of tzaangor equivalent. Are they really low tech? So far I've only read the BT for Chaos Gods themselves, so am I looking in the wrong places?
>>98490839>Are they really low tech?Yes, turns out that a society of demon worshippers isn't that good for civilisation building. The "cities" you get are more like hubs of nomads, or the fortresses of the chaos champions, or the ruins of whatever civilisation they destroyed and are now squatting on.Lots of quality metallurgy though, it's an evergreen market.
>>98490837funny how aos cant seem to make a game people actually want to playbut WHF games are fan favorites even when it was deadi bet there is a lesson in that
>>98490657I'd expect ogres to be priced like elites but man the old models were cheap per points after they moved from web only to stores £25 for 6 gluttons, or 4 ironguts, etc 8 ironguts in a Spearhead, 4 leadbelchers in another
>>98490223Your memory is severely faulty. We had long stretches between books even in 2E, and most of that output was just Josh Reynolds, who left before 3E released.
>>98490839>Are they really low tech?Yes, but they have continents worth of much more advanced ruins to loot and some of it might still work after a milenia.
>>98490889I’m spoiled by the old prices I guess, but still. $20 a Cleaver is fucked in any metric. I have a kitbashed Butcher, I guess, even if I like the new k e.

>>98492334It was his fist, not his axe.
I keep hearing about this TLW shit all over the place, and as someone now vaguely interested in AoS who used to be far more involved, I'm not a fan. I like the big as Realm; sure, it would be cool if they ground them up a little but I like the scale of it. They are basically the 40k Galaxy in the sense that you can make /your dudes/ with greater freedom and depth, but not being constrained by the limitations of a well-detailed, single world. You can make your geography for where they are based, the towns they inhabit, the cities nearby, the factions that surround them and their relationships, and have them have all the epics you want, since it'll all be tucked over your little corner of the realms.
>>98492316>>98492298artist depictions are not canon. And even if they are, those aren't what they actually look like because they can take many forms but have no actual real baseline form. The gods are just amalgamations of feelings made manifest. They have no actual personality, just base instinct. They are not real "beings", just a force of nature. In short, they are macguffins and have always been that in in both fantasy and 40k. If they did, then there would be no reason as to why we don't have models for them.
>>98492339>beastgraveWtf they knew all along
>>98492370kek
>>98492367I dont disagree with you at all but;>if they did, then there would be no reason as to why we don't have models for them.People are still waiting for sigmar to get a model.
>>98488824GW does stick to patterns the pattern is that each God Aligned Army is different so they can 'justify' prices and preferably sell more models. Compare this to older armies like Chaos Warriors where you just painted your guys red and they were khorne. GW doesn't want that, they want you to buy all the models.
>>98492334Here's something they should have built: a not dying machine!>>98492339>What kind of mental illness or cognitive disonence do you have to have to nonstop talk about getting pegged and dominated then get yucked out because of a chick with a penis.I mean, in fairness to him, "chick with a penis" requires extreme cognitive dissonance to begin with.

>>98492407Yeah, but then you have to consider how all your shit happening in that part of the empty map affects everything else. Also, more varied faction placement.Take, for example, old Fantasy: you want to fluff your Empire dudes; you better make them some crusading force wandering around the world or be perpetually under siege by everyone to have them see some variety.
we all agree AoS was a poorly initiated attempt to make fantasy more 40k like and TLW will be a poorly initiated attempt to make AoS more fantasy like, yes?
>>98492493Agree on the former; who knows about the latter? Maybe wait for it to happen? If it happens at all, you know.
>>98492493>weyou're not in /twg/, faggot

>>98492491>you better make them some crusading force wandering around the world or be perpetually under siege by everyone to have them see some variety.that's what you would do for any other made up spot for your dudes in the realms, they're either attacking the place, or they're getting attacked at the placeI honestly don't see why you think there's a third option, there's literally nothing that you could do with your made up corner of the realms that can't be happening on a known corner of the realms, short of cataclysmic continent-reshaping stuff, and even then you've got leeway

5e will be the edition of the Deadwalkers. Bet on it.
>>98492513Because known corners of the realms have stuff there already, and you either have to pretend it's not affecting your dudes or shove them in the middle of the named characters' fight. The realms offer you a clean slate, where you can draw what you want; a known world would have you having to squish them between all the known players fighting over a limited space. Which is something you can do in the realm already, if you choose to pick the parts that are defined.

Some seasons were a bit too balanced imo I think gambits became way more tame as seasons wen't one, not that shadespire-nightvault had a good balance but some of the cards were genuinely fun.
>>98492636I know this is more concerning the whfb but in regards to your original statement about the realms, I think there will still be plenty of "empty" /yourdudes/-land. We know that, for example, hysh will be arounr and somewhat resemble ulthuan in location and shape. Currently, only one of Hysh' plates or whatever they call it is really detailed. We can thus assume that for every other realm we won't be limited to just the great parch mapped out equivalent, but a bigger share of the realm will make it over to this new stitched together world.
>>98492624Deadwalkers?
>>98492636>Because known corners of the realms have stuff there already, and you either have to pretend it's not affecting your dudes or shove them in the middle of the named characters' fight. The maps are absolutely not as crowded as you think they are, I don't know what gave you that impression, I don't get how you can't look at something like this and think you have no place to do whatever you want.

>>98492742I don't remember exactly which configuration but I do remember that there were suppes to be two major continents, I think one was chamon ghur aqshy and the other ghyran-shyish, with ulgu and hysh being their own thing. I do hope they keep some of the crazy continent scale realm gimmicks. Continents cannibalizing each other is just cool.>>98492754>imagineI don't think I will
>>98492737But these are the maps now, the ones I'm saying they HAVE the space for you to go as deep as you want with /yourdudes/ and their surrounding world; what I find limiting is this. And the rumour possibility of the realms becoming this.
>>98492808The rumor says that the new world is made up of the maps we have of the realms, just cobbled together as the world's continents. How do they have enough space now, but won't be once arranged in a slightly different configuration?
>>98492808Sounds more like the scale of /your dudes/ here. The world that was had plenty of opportunities to go deep with your dudes, but it was within established parameters. A force rallied from Nuln, an orc raiding party from the Badlands, etc etc. in the currently AoS realms, you’re free to make large nations if you wanted to, like in 40k which can give you full sectors to build up lore for. I guess it’s a matter of preference
>98492838Guess we won't know till they actually pull it off, if they pull it off and see if they touch the scale of it all, but if that's the plan, then I guess it could work just fine; they just have to scatter the factions around the place so each one doesn't end up stuck in a corner.I guess it's also a pre-requisite for making a TW game, but I really wanted them to make a 2 big ass maps and connect them through portals, thinking of Hammerhall and the Aqshy-Ghyran connection; that would be cool.>>98492853Exactly, it's a matter of preference and the SCALE of that preference; you can go small, but if you want to go big, then you're fucked.
>>98492808Even the old world has its spots for fanciful /your dudes/, the factions establish colonies elsewhere, the old world has the border princes as free real estate, the wider world at large has multiple unknown factions big and small, and could have more. It's only limiting if you really really really want to make up your own imperial province or helven kingdom and for some reason you cannot be satisfied by making up an alternative uniform for an existing one.
>>98492689>Deadwalkers?ip friendly name that gw created for zombies
Friendly reminder that TLW is a stupid rumor that only makes sense if AoS is a dying IP, which it isn't.
>>98493051No? it doesn't need the IP to be dying as much as it needs it to not grow as much as gw wants it to, and that's always the case because they always want every one of their IPs other than 40k to grow as much as 40k does.
>>98493059But AoS has had consistent, respectable growth for 10 years straight and 2nd best product line by a large margin. TLW is such an absurdly high risk strategy for a product where exposure is the surer path to greater expansion with far less risk.
>>98493097An AoS game in the style of Dawn of War 1 or that one middle earth rts would be really cool imo, and could easily accomplish that
>>98493059>not grow as much as gw wants it toFundamental problem with stakeholder capitalism. The shareholders are never happy with $300 million in profit when there's a chance they could have $400 million if the company makes shit worse. If they actually do go through with TLW, what is actually separating it from Warhammer Fantasy apart from having modern models and a couple of slightly different factions? At that point just fucking play Fantasy. It has a better map, better lore, and 30 more years of history behind it.
>>98493120You mean shareholder capitalism? Maybe pick up a book before you start marching in the street, comrade.
>>98493097not respectable enoughexposure to what they know is not appealing enough is a riskier move than just adjusting the setting one last time before pushing for the best exposure they can give it, which is the next secret level episode, which was announced long ago enough for gw to have programmed it with this soft reboot in mind, and will come out right on time for when the setting will be relaunched with its 5th edition and new cinematic traileryou can be in denial about it, but it will happen, and there are good chances it will succeed and make aos better received to both 40kfags, fantasyfags, and newfags
>>98493110This, Dawn of War 1 was huge for exposing 40k to the mainstream and a similar game would be perfect for AoS. However, I fear they'd go for Dawn of War 2 style instead, since that's more Herohammer focused and AoS lends itself more to Herohammer than classical RTS gameplay like DoW1. I would like to be wrong on that though, it's just what I expect to happen
>>98493120>what is actually separating it from Warhammer Fantasy apart from what was actually separating it from Warhammer Fantasy first and foremost?
talking about an RTS game bringing AoS to the mainstream is pure copethere are about 1000 RTS players left in the world today, no one plays them.
>>98493147Total Warhammer is still making massive moolah, RTSes aren't dead, they just changed form
>>98493134nta, why would a reboot make AoS better? Killing Sigmar and doing a timeskip doesn't sound like an improvement to me. Or are there certain rumors which are treated with greater credibility? Because killing Sigmar sound very dumb to me.
>>98493161calling TW an RTS is also cope. DoW4 and TW40k are not going to be remotely the same game.An AoS TW game could do numbers.
>>98493161Anon...
>>98493161TW isn't RTS though, its turned based grand strategy. We definitely need a video game just not another forgettable RTS.Not sure if they would, but if Owlcat did to Sigmar what they did with Rogue Trader that would be awesome.
>>98493170>>98493171>>98493181>RTSes aren't dead, they just changed formplease bother to read the last seven words of my post next time
>>98493190Your last words are wrong, it's not an RTS by any stretch of imagination. It's like saying action games and fighting games are the same because they happen in real time.
>>98493165sigmar isn't actually dying: the new rulebook has two stories, one is the beliefs of chaosfags (archaon killed sigmar), the other is the belief of sigmarfags (sigmar defeated archaon and then left to go buy milk or something). sigmar effectively still exists somewhere, and still manifests divine interventions, but it's not a present god you can just walk to and talk about your problems with. it's set up for an eventual return (and model), just like archaon is written as being in a less bombastic approach, leaving room for his lieutenants (which could mean they want to give him a different model too).
>>98493181While I like the idea of Owlcat game, I fucking hate the idea that it's just going to be Order wank to the fullest.>>98493190RTS are RTS; they didn't change form, and TW isn't an RTS, nor was it born or transformed from an RTS, nor did it's genre of TBS.I get the point; you're wrong.
>>98493208Okay, that's far less worrying then. I can see that working out if they do it properly.
>>98493190This is like saying an ASSFAGGOTS game like Dota is an RTS because it evolved out of the RTS. They're different things.Kind of a shame the ASSFAGGOTS craze is over and the market saturated though, an AoS themed one would be pretty cool.
>>98493147Yeah, total warhammer hit the mark only because it came at the right time, already had an existing fanbase from both sides of the collaborations for it, and began delivering on big promises from the get go.You can't recreate that with aos and total war, it's not even assured they'll manage with total war 40k.AoS needs a slower paced exploration of the setting and what its factions have to offer, like an rpg.
>>98493228Or an action game that delivers on over-the-top combat that other games are giving up on for grittier realism.
They should do an AoS platformer in Chamon. Go from the ground all the way up to a sky-port. Maybe you collect aqua ghyranis for health or points.
>>98493051it would be a disastrously fumbled decision. and GW doesn't make those so I suppose you're right.
>>98493142What separates it from Fantasy is the world and the models. If you take out the novelty of the world, what's the point in not just putting the new models back int he Fantasy world?>>98493127>what are synonyms
>>98493373Stakeholder capitalism is very different from shareholder capitalism. Stakeholder is the very progressive version where Corporation have to address all the people affected by their operations (the stakeholders), such as consumers, communities, NGOs, the environment, indigenous peoples, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, etcShareholder capitalism is when corporation only have to address the concerns of people who own equity in company, aka the shareholders. As you can see, these concepts are not synonyms. As a shameless newcomer, the issue that stands out to me is not the scale of the world of AoS, I think it’s the “why” in why are my dudes fighting? I bought into Death, I think skeletons and zombies are cool, but I don’t give a fuck about Nagash. I just wasn’t around to feel any connection to the character or the memes surrounding him, but a not insignificant amount of lore in the SBGL book is “look at this cool dude, by the way they’re Nagash’s bitch and they can’t do anything about it,” That’s just lame. I feel like you have to color outside the lines to do something interesting with your dudes, which I personally don’t mind doing, but I can see why aspects of the setting don’t resonate with wider audiences when you try to translate it to other mediums.
>>98492302>>98492339I've never had much of an interest in Underworlds, but both it and Warcry have had some really nice world building. It's a shame that the two of them and AoS almost disregard each other, because if GW better weaved them all together, the turnout would be pretty nice.

>>98496548And with the Vermindoom he is like 99% ahead!
>>98496580You mean the shit that aready happened and won't get any worse than it already was on day 1?
>>98496594>and won't get any worseanon...
>>98496594Haven't you heard the rumors?
>>98496610>>98496662Retards
>>98496464I too remember the AoS 1st ed looking like some shit straight out of World of Warcraft
>>98496464did they ever explain how fucking ikit made it over?does he even really feature in any story?
>>98496756That's not him. That's a different Skaven character who happens to use his same model.
>>98496466If you've got the kindle version just link it or drop it in the share thread
>>98496837Can't buy the Kindle version because it seems that only UK and US dudes can. However, there is a sample version available on the Google Books page. It covers the introduction, realm lore, and Stormcast section only.
>>98496903I like the little lighting effects on it : )
>>98496903>Here's my Ogor Tyrant for Thunderbellies so far. I tried to do a lightning effect for the first time but I feel like I fucked up.I fixed the image.>>98496918Ty but should I put nuln oil on the blue armor to darken it a bit or keep it as is?
>>98496953>Thunderbellieskek amazing name, is that real?>t.ogor newb
>>98496953I feel the blue should be darker to make your lightning effects stand out more desu desu. Or at least darken it toward the edges
>>98496960So want me to paint the blue over the lightning real quick, do a nuln oil wash, and then do the lightning?
Steal. Got Age of Sigmar Thunder and Blood for £50.As a 1st edition player who recently also picked up the Mighty Battles starter box, I'm very happy with my purchase.Anyone else pick up anything good recently?
>>98496756That's just a generic Skaven hero that happened to use his model
She cute
>>98497043Good shit anon, funnily enough I actually picked up the thunderstrike brotherhood like a month ago. Too hot to paint so I haven't done anything with it yet. Still gotta decide on a scheme though.Anyway, what's the difference between this box and the starter box? Is it just missing vandus and khul?
>>98497043I got a 1st edition collector's core book a while ago for £5. Looks pretty but man it's quite dog shit and worthless from a rules perspective too given the 3 pages are in every 1e material iirc
>>98497043Really fun box, both the Khorne and Stormcasts are very charming sculpts. I still use the inner box terrain too.
>>98497123I mean the fluff is basically nonexistent, they really rushed this shit out >Chaos ruined everything >Well, now things are changing! You don't even get info on the various factions, it really is just SCE and Khorne rather vaguely. The infamous "what's going on in Ulgu?!" Malerion meme is honestly a flavour highlight. I think the hate was overblown and lbr none of those people read anything for AoS but if they did they'd have a field day instead of having to lying about joke rules
>>98496979Or just nuln the blue areas already around it
>>98497104>Is it just missing vandus and khul? That is indeed the difference, but I already have the starter box so I don't need duplicates of them. Which is nice. Good job on the Thunderstrike Brotherhood! My guys are Hallowed Knights, or at least they will be once they're finished.>>98497123>1st edition collector's core bookVery nice, and for a nice price too. I should really pick one up some day.>>98497151>I still use the inner box terrain too.Kinooooooooo!
>>98497154You telling me that Malerion is Little Carmine? Alright then!
>>98497090How is that demonett a tzeetnch wizard?
>>98497180>Kinooooooooo!Hell yeah! Nice Stormies. I would happily play them with my Blades.
>>98497223Thanks anon!
>>98496225I don't get why Archaon's (and Abaddon's) independence triggers people so much.
>>98497262>Muh undeniable force of Chaos!!
>>98497262I feel like it goes kind of against the point of the faction if you actually CAN use chaos for purely your own gain if you're super special enough
>>98497289That's a big IF.
archaon and abaddon basically being the exact same character, somehow magically avoiding being consumed by chaos but leading the mortal chaos forces at the same time and playing the gods against each other is lame AF.A alexander the great esque warlord possessed and corrupted by the most sinister and conniving greater demon would be a way better trope.
>>98497377Both represent a clash between the mortal and the divine/daemonic within Chaos.I find it pretty cool that the Chaos Gods fear Archaon, who is, at the end of the day, just a man.
>>98497377Isn't Abba jsut a cheap knock off on Archi, that copies general cliff notes but doens't realy feature any of the nuance?
>>98497416The opposite. Abaddon and his themes predate Archaon.
>>98497416What?
>>98497434You know, ABBA and Archie Comics.
>>98497386>I find it pretty cool that the Chaos Gods fear Archaon, who is, at the end of the day, just a manAt this point he is very much not just a man anymore
>>98497043>https://mp1st.com/news/early-footage-art-cancelled-warhammer-rpgyou know it bad when people miss 1st edition. I think 1st and 2nd were the best versions of the game. (1st is great, 2nd edition cities was kino)
>>98497377Archaon is a tragic figure, though. He is humanities greatest hero forced to endure walking down the wrong path knowing it's wrong. In the End Times novels he keeps putting himself in a position that allows an underling to kill him, one he obviously knows desires to, but of course the underling tragically believes it to be a test and intimidation tactic. Great stuff, the pov is basically some chaos champion who's ridden the coattails of the horde and rightfully thinks the looming if not manifested apocalypse is a bit too much but what can you do when you're surrounded by devoted followers and literal demons raring to go.
>>98497896desu i didnt count anything from WHFB as being AoS Archaon. I know it technically is, but if your characters entire arc is from a dead game thats such a fucking failure of this setting its crazy.
>>98497923>anon cant grasp a concept of a sequel
>>98497923You haven't read anything for AoS
Hey anons, does anyone have a link to the 4e battletomes? I'm thinking of playing CoS (newcomer) but I haven't read any of the other battletomes to compare. Any help would be great.(Goodnight!)
>>98496464Ragnaros looking motherfucker
>>98498239dont worry anon, i am blind too sometimes.
Kill Chaos
>>98497386>Chaos Gods fear ArchaonGod I hate archaon.
>>98496466Real weird that aos setting legacy will be that we visited 3 of the 8 realms over a decade, chaos won again, and here's a gigantic model of a centaur that the orcs worship.Fantasy being thrown away was already an overt red flag, you'd have to be functionally retarded to buy a black library brochure after the last world drops. Gw is milking whales at this point.
>>98498462jack garland is archaon but if he was done right and was cool
