Of course somehow this private school will have a bizarrely high delinquent population just for you anon, don't worry. There's a magical rumor about entering the spirit world and some students did it. They go through and from the spirit world and need to cultivate to beat the demon king.Second scenario (ripping off Digimon): Japanese high schoolers get isekai'd to the spirit world and need to cultivate to beat the demon king.Which one do we like more?

>>98491740If we're going that far why not just use power creator for every mp and change the flavor text to fit the setting?
>>98491851Because besides mythology changes not even being a big difference in KTH and already built in, power creator fucking sucks and you have to be retarded to like it
>>98491851>why not just use power creator for every mp I can think of several good reasons why we wouldn't touch that garbage
>>98491757>WhutYeah Frost is a Discipline that rebels against its own School, it's about snuffing heat rather than increasing. Beyond classic ice stuff, it also reaches into some slight time territory by putting things into cryostasis.>Sounds ominously bad, elaborate on these pleaseSensation is the school of perception. There is a physical reality, but what we see of it is what our brain gives us based on our sensory organs. There are sounds we can't hear, light spectrums we can't see, and Sensation magic helps us interact with them one way or the other.Truth is perceiving reality as is, so its spells provide clairvoyance, extra senses beyond our five, and the ability to pierce through illusions.Art is more of a meta Discipline. It allows Mages to enhance their own Spells through artistic exercise, kind of like building muscle memory in the soul. Chanting to increase power, drawing runes beforehand to insta cast spells, somatic gestures, that sort of thing. When combined with other Disciplines it also leads to crafting magical items.Dream is about rejecting objective reality and relying on each person's biased perception, weighed by their subconscious. Its spells are about dream-walking, stirring hallucinations from people, and fooling the sensations of others with an image from your own head.Wisdom is the school of... well, Wisdom. It's about the conclusions you take from your perception. Its spells are about accelerating and manipulating thoughts. Will is about different kinds of intent. It's about the decisions you take after you perceive something and reach a conclusion. But mostly, it's about enforcing your Will onto other things. You can give objects a Free Will so they have the ability to think. You can generate Mirror Wills inside your own head to give yourself multiple trains of thought. You can give yourself the Will To Battle to cleanse a mental attack.(1/2)>>98491844>Are you an author I'd know?I'm mcyoag's one-hit wonder, Jupiter...
>>98491907Godspeed, Jupiter anon.
>>98491907That 2 is taking a while, huh.
>>98491907>>98491757Knowledge is about tangible memories. You can access the archives of your brain to have perfect recall, access the memories of others, manipulate memories, and absorb theoretical knowledge, though not the muscle memory.Emotion is about the intangibles, the instinctual reactions you feel at certain stimuli. You can induce sudden anger, joy, jealousy, sadness, etc. onto people. You can cause mental damage by inducing opposing emotions, and even sprout mental illnesses. You can be more subversive and slowly mold their emotional responses, so they always feel instinctively happy or safe when they see you. Emotions can also combine with Wills to give the latter greater strength.Order is a School of hierarchy and law. It's about setting codes for yourself or other people and gaining strength from it, so kind of like binding vows.Pact is the Order of man equal to man. Set up contracts with mystical conditions, set up magical territories that people can't cross or that buff you in certain ways.Faith is the Order of God above man. You can cast spells you don't know by summoning divine inspiration, power your own spells by drawing strength from belief, detect sinful or virtuous people, and give your spells extra effectiveness against the sinful.Dominion is the Order of man above beast. Basically monster taming and enslaving demi-humans.>Rentry?I refuse to format what I have into something comprehensible and I also refuse to let anons see how messy everything is. So no. >>98491587Is anyone actually interested in doing this or should I not bother making a build
>>98492107You can simply pick a classic elemental school and blast people with fire or lightning too. Most of what I described are things in common magic settings (enchantment spells, clairvoyance, bounded fields, clerical spells, illusions, somatic/verbal components) but spelled out differently

>>98492159Well, how can I assuage your fears? Are you worried about the classic save or suck? Because I have some plans to diminish that.
>>98492199Eh, you probably can't. Just from knowing the setting tropes alone and how it typically plays out, I'm getting flashbacks to the obnoxiousness of SC. And if it's anything similar to other power pickers that include those types of options from how you worded things, I have a feeling I know how the other options will turn out. It just sounds like something I won't be interested in. We'll see.>Are you worried about the classic save or suck? Because I have some plans to diminish that.Maybe it'll help.
>>98492124Nothing ever happens, especially for AUs. Anons are adverse to AUs.
>>98492236Well, in setting life and magic are the product of three domains: Body, Mind, and Soul. The Body domain is regular physical reality, but the Mind domain is the Sea of Collective Consciousness. There, every mind is an island, thoughts flow down like rain and emotions bubble up like foam.To manipulate someone's memory or emotions, you have to visualize the Mind domain, move your island over to theirs, and fuck shit up there. To a normie, it might seem like the mage just waved his hand and caused someone to pass out, but to other mages, they could see him walking over to the normie's island and casting a Dream on it. If the mage tried it on another mage, he would be able to counteract. That way the mental focused spells are less save-and-suck and more like battles of a different type, where your personality also plays a big part. Someone who doesn't really care for mental magics might try to bat off the intruder through brute force by applying Will or aggressive emotions. An experienced Wisdom mage might have built a Mind palace in their island, so they don't even need to consciously defend against weaker probes. But a fellow experienced Wisdom mage can infiltrate the Mind palace and literally dig out their memories.Everything also comes with imagery from the Mind sea, so it's cooler to write. In the Sea of Unconsciousness, a malicious emotional attack would be a like a bubble of pitch black tar, filled with spikes, while a resolute Will would be like molten gold that solidifies into a wall or shield. That way you can go beyond "he blasted her with an anger spell".
>>98492374Yeahhhh... that still sounds lame as fuck, and still meh to write.
>>98492374that doesn't sound cool that sounds goofy as fuck kek
>>98492236Tbh it doesn't sound anything remotely close to SC
>>98491907>>98492036>>98492374Sounds like there will be a lot of build diversity and I've been wanting a cool fantasy cyoa made with multiplayer in mind, so I'm looking forward to it. I have faith in you, anon.
>>98491851>change the flavor text to fit the settingDMT brain rapes anons to never ignore it
>>98492374>To manipulate someone's memory or emotions, you have to visualize the Mind domain, move your island over to theirs, and fuck shit up there. What a.... Reasonable Development.... Uhh. What does chaos magic even do? Are there any gods that affect how faith magic works?
>>98492374>Everything also comes with imagery from the Mind sea, so it's cooler to writeThis is what I wanna touch on. In my opinion, fights are coolest when there's a combination of both strategy and tension. If you don't have any tension, you still at least have strategy and can marvel as the obvious winner wins in a fun way. If you don't have any strategy, you can at least have tension and can wait to see who will win between two unga bunga retards. What you have here just doesn't sound fun to interact with to me.It really just feels like kids making stuff up on playgrounds. It already removes the battlefield and replaces it with a new one, and it just sounds like people will be throwing unspecified, "ungrounded" (as in, they can literally just do whatever and it doesn't matter) bullshit at each other. Also, interacting with builds who specify in "minigames" fucking sucks. They can only really shine in their minigames against other minigame specialists, and their fights against the typical battlers are lame as fuck. Even having minigames available, for the "MP economy", results in builds that are fucking annoying to write with because some dipshit anons decided they wanted to minigamemaxx. Take Naruto with Genjutsufags for instance. Minigames shouldn't instawin against battlers because that's boring as fuck, which makes minigames weak, because even when they do go off as they should, they shouldn't accomplish much or else the battle ends. Basically I just hate when authors include minigames at all.
>>98491600How much have you got so far because >>98492036>I refuse to format what I have into something comprehensible and I also refuse to let anons see how messy everything is.doesn't give us much confidence in the idea. It sounds like it's still underbaked or you have no confidence in the idea yet.

>>98492673The world deserves to know of my boner
>>98492677https://youtube.com/watch?v=Lyz8i_39DAU
>>98492620>What does chaos magic even do?Chaos is part of the Soul domain (Tapestry of Fate), so it interacts with magic energy itself. You can induce Chaos on others to make their body and soul go out of wack, causing rapid aging or un-wellness. You can induce Chaos on spells themselves to reverse their effects or split them into minor versions of the same spell. You can induce Chaos on yourself to suppress certain magical affinities you have, so a surface scry can't detect if you're a water/fire/truth mage.>Are there any gods that affect how faith magic works? The old world (Terra Nostra) has 2.5 goddesses. One is the goddess of fertility/propagation, she shepherded human civilization, is behind the biggest political power in the setting, and is the reason there's almost no monsters to be found so people have to go to the new world to study them. Her offensive fate spells are more fire aligned, burn the sinners, let light reveal the darkness and such. The second one is the goddess of preservation, she built a sanctuary for the Beastkin after the rise of humankind, and now houses their descendants, the demi-humans. Her offensive Faith spells are more frost and earth aligned, more about restraining the enemy, sapping away their will to fight, or building a barrier between you and them. The third one a devil mage, daughter of the fallen demon king. She had to take control of a section of the Tapestry of Fate to ensure the cycle of death and rebirth was working correctly after her father messed with it. She hasn't built a religion of her own but people still pray to her because of her authority over Death. Thus, she offers no Faith spells. They are meant to be different representations of life. One is life growing/reproducing, the other is life surviving/protecting itself, and the last one is the fated end of all life.
>>98492646>How much have you got so far becauseLore wise I have already devised Terra Nostra, which is the old world most builds will come from. I am leaving the various nations of Terra Nova (world the builds go colonize) to the end, because I am planning to ask anons about the sort of adventures they would like to go on.Magic wise I already have the system or Schools and Disciplines, I am currently working on spell ideas. After that will be the Talent/Drawback system. So I'd say I'm 30% done.
>>98492626I can't remember any annoying genjutsufags off the top of my head. I remember a sound one, which had inherent counterplay, and the sensei guy in the chunin run who seemed pretty chill.
>>98492718Are these actually different worlds or just different continents?
>>98492626>It really just feels like kids making stuff up on playgrounds.See, we simply have different tastes then. I like this sort of fantastic magic where people astral project into different worlds and have mental battles. I wouldn't be able to motivate myself to make the cyoa if it was just elemental powers with some fancy stuff sprinkled in between, because then I'd just play a cyoa that already serves that purpose.>as in, they can literally just do whatever and it doesn't matter) bullshit at each other.I don't know how you got that idea after I painstakingly tried to explain how all the mental attacks work. Dreams are illusions, Emotions are minor mind manipulation, and they are based on spells each with their description. It's not gonna be templates. The one difference I would apply to genjutsu and this, is that the Mind mages do not have the authority to drag you into "minigames". They can't casually pull you into an illusion world where all your spells are useless except the mind ones, and if they do, it's because they attacked while you were extremely vulnerable aka asleep. You can very much still attack a mind mage in the physical world while they're trying to attack you in the mind world.I see it more as different playstyles than a game within a game.
>>98492732different continents, I just like the sound of old/new world
>>98492842>I don't know how you got that idea after I painstakingly tried to explain how all the mental attacks work. Dreams are illusions, Emotions are minor mind manipulation, and they are based on spells each with their description. It's not gonna be templates. You didn't understand what I said then. The random bullshit being made up is the stuff like the golden walls and tar spikes in the mental battles. That's what I take issue with and feel like what I will be unable to care about.>is that the Mind mages do not have the authority to drag you into "minigames". You can very much still attack a mind mage in the physical world while they're trying to attack you in the mind world.I never said it was a save or suck where you just get dragged and lose. In fact, I lamented that it was actually going to be useless. Again, it feels as if you just have trouble understanding my point. How do you see these playstyles interacting? >>98492949China > woidslop
>>98492890>The random bullshit being made up is the stuff like the golden walls and tar spikes in the mental battlesThat's just the appearance of the spell. Everything is made up on that front. In some magic settings fireballs are literally balls of fire that you throw, and in others, it's an explosion of flame that starts from a point. My example was a malicious emotion spell. The appearance of the spell is a bubble of pitch black tar. The effect is that if the bubble pops on your mind island, it fills you with the malicious emotion. >In fact, I lamented that it was actually going to be useless. Again, it feels as if you just have trouble understanding my point. How do you see these playstyles interacting? I don't see them interacting well at all. Will fire spells be useless because builds can't die? It won't be save or suck, but the exact damage is up to the writer and how he wants to tell his story. If someone shoots an earth spike at an NPC, it might land straight through their chest and kill them. If someone shoots an earth spike at a build, it will probably graze a non lethal area at the start of the fight, or pierce a leg and pin them down as the final blow. If someone lands an emotional attack on an NPC, it might make them froth at the mouth and pass out. If someone lands an emotional attack on a build, it might stun them for the next blow, or put a constant debuff on them for the next exchanges in the battle, or make them aim their next spell against their allies.I really am trying to not be judgy here but it seems like you're dismissing anything that isn't a straight up blast exchange as too complicated or useless
>>98492970You don't even believe that.
>>98492976>That's just the appearance of the spell. Everything is made up on that frontYes, I know. Are you purposefully being dense?>The effect is that if the bubble pops on your mind island, it fills you with the malicious emotion. But it didn't happen because I used my golden wall.>But that won't stop me because I cast my gloom meteor! But that fails because of my diamond net.>Fool. You forgot to account for my rage monkey!Heh, as if. Maybe my smiley face will force you to see the error of your ways...See that? That's shit. It's dumb.>Will fire spells be useless because builds can't die? It won't be save or suck, but the exact damage is up to the writer and how he wants to tell his story. You cast a fire spell and the spell gets blocked, does damage, gets dodged. You cast a rage spell and it either doesn't work... or it does, and nothing comes of it. It's a shitty ability to interact with. Again, think back to what I said. You have a bunch of punchfags, and then illusioncuck. How does a punchfag fight against illusioncuck? The punchfag has no resistance to illusions, so in order for the fight to have any semblance of entertainment, the illusions have to be extremely underwhelming in their actual effects. That's what introducing sloppy mind powers does. They are so unbelievably bad to write with. I genuinely can not remember a single fight or anything that included mind powers that was actually fun. The mind minigame maxxers are just going to trap their builds and never be relevant in combat besides against fodder, because that's all their abilities are good for. >I really am trying to not be judgy here but it seems like you're dismissing anything that isn't a straight up blast exchange as too complicated or uselessMoron. I was never interested in those eastern martial arts mps and never suggested otherwise.I sometimes helped by facilitating discussions and replying to writefags, but I never felt the desire to make a build for them.
>>98493018>You cast a rage spell and it either doesn't work... or it does, and nothing comes of it.Dude I just gave you examples in my post, but here goes again. The rage spell gets partially through and the build loses concentration, wasting the magic energy they were about to use on their big spell, and losing precious momentum on the battle. Or the rage spell is even more effective, and they become stationary while dealing with their turbulent emotions, losing initiative as their enemy prepares the killing blow, building up the tension. Or the rage spell is effective and they rush forward blindly before snapping back to awareness, getting damaged but not enough to kill them. Or the rage spell gets blocked by another mental spell. Or literally anything that isn't save or suck, like I've been trying to tell you.>>98493037I am just trying to learn where the frustration is coming from. It's a lot better than dealing with people just calling it lame without expanding on why.
>>98493058>So dominion is the magic of enslaving them right?Well, the actual focus of the discipline is commanding animals, beasts and monsters. It just also works on them because of the technicality of them being non-human.>Can you even use her faith magic if you have dominion? You can't. There are some forbidden schools and disciplines for faith mages. >What's the difference between life and harmonyLife deals with the physical body. Harmony deals with the soul. Life magic is about healing flesh, blooming plants, curing diseases. But it can also create plagues and twist human flesh into monstrous abominations. Therefore, it is forbidden to everyone on threat of being hunted by all the nations. The churches recruit people with Life affinity, but they can only use it with knowledge from Faith magic and aren't allowed to learn to cast it by themselves.Back to harmony, it's about bonding with others and the world around you. Sharing magical energy, combining spells, creating bonds you can sense from far away, borrowing magic energy from plants, that sort of thing.>abyss/death?Abyss is about communicating with the depths of the Mind sea. The Mind sea is made up of everyone's consciousness, so if you hop off your island and dive into the water, you start to get consumed by countless thoughts and emotions and will eventually die. The depths are impossible to explore except to one race, which are the Demons. Because they are able to live there, they get access to old spells and lots of knowledge. You can borrow demonic knowledge, or make an agreement with a demon to have them attack the mind of a target. It's kind of like Faith magic, but for people with little morality and no sense of danger.
>>98493174>>98493058Death is about killing yourself for more power, or staving off your own death. You can speed up your aging to speed up your magic regeneration rate, or slow down your aging but in exchange have your magic recovery gutted. You can kill the memories of a spell to cast it with greater power, eventually forgetting it altogether. You know what I just said about the mind sea being impossible to dive in? With Death magic, there are ways to dissolve into the mind sea in controlled ways, sacrificing portions of your mind to learn more and more. Still not capable of reaching the Abyss, however.
Alright guys thanks for the questions, I will be leaving for now. Hope the platinum age thing takes off.
>>98493132Nta, but I am fairly sure that there are a couple of anons who just say they will play anything when they have no intention to. They make it difficult to know if an MP really does have interest or not.
>>98493255>there are a couple of anons who just say they will play anything when they have no intention toThey're all me. Every time that happens, it's me samefagging.
I'm trying to make a build for platinum age, and I really hate how some stuff that should be really basic is locked behind Super powers. I also hate how utility is locked behind higher levels of power too.
>>98493132NTA, but you didn't even make a build yourself.
>>98493300He doesn't want to waste it in case it doesn't start.
>>98491587>(ripping off Digimon)I would rather play digimon instead. But I guess we don't have any good digimon cyoa for that, only a nsfw one.Any kind of monster evolution could also be cool, but somehow all cyoas with that premise end up being nsfw.

>>98493782Very nice, anon. I'll post my build later today since it seems like I have an extra long shift at work coming
>>98493869Just seemed fun. I remember making two builds for it that I really liked. Even though it never went anywhere, I think it had a lot of potential. I still got a third build readied up that I never posted. The class routes were all pretty interesting, the builds I made were for Summoner, Evoker/Materialist or whatever the item class was called, and Striker. The only real issue between them was that some of the special perk bonuses for classes were pretty busted while others were mid as hell, but they all had their own niches to explore.
>>98493869I like fun and liked the classesTbh I'd say I like the concept of it more than the actual cyoa, the cyoa is very rough and you can tell it's one of his early works and I think it was his first time making an image cyoa.
...Well?
