>>98503696>TQ I wouldn't call it a falling out but I used my Rat deck to mill out a friend with Altar of Dementia and he decided he was going to just go after me with his Edgar Markov deck. Instead he went after a 13 year old girl the entire game because she used Kaalia. It was so bad that she didn't want to play anymore and everyone dug into him about it.
>>98503696>TQNo. I have certainly thought less of people for how they play, like using removal because they have it so they "need to" even when there's no good targets, or a player preconcieving what a deck is based on the commander and hard-targetting that player as a result despite the deck not doing what they think it does at all, or netdecking b4 decks just in general and bringing them to our high b2 low b3 game.I don't hate any of them for any if these things, I just think less of them-- like my coworker saying he told his wife she should do onlyfans. I don't hate him, but I definitely think less of him for it.
decks with this vibe?>>98503696I've never had a friend
I'll miss Edea.
>>98503761Cid...
>>98503752I love this card. Makes all my creatures trigger my girl. Don't need to touch stickers or tickets, just pay 1 extra and trigger her.
>>98503696>TQ: Ever had a falling out with a friend over a game? how was it resolved? Not a falling out, but my friend who has been playing Magic for 20+ years has gotten increasingly aggressive about "slop." His definition of a fun Magic card these days is effectively a bulk French vanilla uncommon, and he now runs strictly bracket 2 lists. If you run anything remotely strong he'll call your deck slop. It's not like a fight or anything, but he's getting whinier and whinier as a person as time goes on.
>>98503825I fear I have also become like your friend. Every day I feel my appreciation for Serra Angel grow and I was very excited about the cycle of french vanilla common changelings in lorwyn eclipsed for some reason.
>TQOver a single game, no. I had a pretty big fallout with a friend over proxies though.>He brings up to the group that he is getting bored of his decks, and wants to try new stuff but doesn't have the money to spend to buy cards only to find he doesn't like the deck. So lets proxy. He suggests, that we only proxy cards we will actually buy or cards we own that we don't want to buy duplicates of. Everyone agrees.>Next week he shows up with a proxied Omnath, Locus of Creation deck.>First play he plays a true dual and exploration, plays a fetch to get another true dual>"So, are you actually going to buy those true duals?">"Of course not.">Get into an argument because it had only be a single week and he already broke HIS OWN TERMS for proxy use in the group.>:"Well you know, CEDH proxies bro, they're just lands!">Eventually he agrees to take them out and keep up with the agreement.>Things go well for awhile.>Everyone is doing what the said they would do. He got a better job, Now is replacing all his proxies with real cards. 7 real copies of Rhystic and etc. Which is fine, its his money, not like we aren't copying or staples either.>After he finishes his last deck, comes to the group and says "I think or proxy usage is getting out of control. We should just go back to using real cards."And, that went as well as you would expect with everyone and he stopped coming after a few weeks of tense sessions.
>tqMy buddy got pissed when I didn't pay the kisser cost when I cast pic related and chose him, and he hasn't talked to me since.
What are your guys favorite commanders for each color?
>>98503905Imagine all those huge dudes plowing that tiny little angel girl in all her holes.
>>98503909That's hot
>>98503850That's why you only allow proxies on a case by case basis friends
>>98503927>Implying I ask
Do you think it would be possible to make a control deck with pic related as my commander? I really like the idea of an angel centric control plan but I really don't know how well it can be done with this card's restrictions even with rule breaker
Braids, reality fractured dommy mommyU U/B B3/3Rulebreaker - Braids has all printed abilities of all other cards printed that are braids the character, not any other kind of braidsPower creep - as this creature enters, you may select from any keywords that are on new ‘do thing draw card’ commanders’
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>98503850>7 real copies of Rhystic and etc.Kind of disgusting desu. Once you own the one there's literally no reason to ever get more. He's only making it more expensive for other people which is kind of gatekeeping which is based but he gave Jews money to do it which is cringe.
>>98504015Then you just swap it from deck to deck but do it slow so that you make everyone wait 5+ minutes
>>98503850Proxy use should be binary in regular pods for this reason.Either all the way in, or none at all.Who cares about what you do to stomp retards at the LGS with the ol' chang special. Don't burn bridges with your buds because beating them is what you care the most about.
Proxy hate will always just be "I think this should be a battle of wallets."
>>98504116No one cares what poor people think.
>>98504116The only vaguely reasonable argument against proxies is that fags have no self control and will print power instead of building fun decks. Like that Edea deck a few threads back going ham with lands.
>>98504136It was just the lands? That is how you determine power? May I see the deck?
>>98504137>That is how you determine power? For a bracket """""2"""" deck, yes. a 2k dollar landbase skews your power dramatically.
>>98504142Explain. Better yet, show me the deck. IIRC land bases have nothing to do with brackets other than gaea's cradle and Ancient Tomb being GCs, unless the RC finally decided to update shit.
>>98504116>only person who wants to proxy is the guy who NEEDS The One Ring, Rhystic Study, Cyclonic Rift, and Demonic Tutor to build his deck"Wallet warrior" is the defeated cry of the staplefag
>>98504142>replace mana base of precon with perfect mana base of fetches ABUR duals and shocks>it still suckswtf anon lied to me???
Anti-Proxy fags, what do you do when you run into those 30-40 year olds who own multiple blinged out copies of all the cards you hate? What if your store is full of those types because you are cursed to have been born in California where a lot of techbros make way too much money and outspend you by a factor of 3?
>>98504148>ExplainExplain what? Bracket 2 is defined as the level of the average precon. Average precons come with terrible taplands, only basic fetches that also enter tapped. Are you really dumb enough to believe a suite of every shock, every true dual, every fetch, both on color and off aren't going to juice the deck to an extreme degree?Actually, you already know this, and you are just dragging up the same debate you already lost pretending to be someone else, so I won't waste my time giving you any more (You)s.
>>98504116Yeah? That's literally the best way to keep people from becoming total faggots with the game because then if you cross the money line too far all your buddies get to make fun of you for tryharding
>>98504175>Explain what? Bracket 2 is defined as the level of the average precon.I don't think that is correct, iirc precons are Bracket two but not the only thing in bracket two. You can have High 2s and Low 2s. I think you might just be confused. Just like you can have a B1 Ur-Dragon deck and a B4 one. There are levels to this shit. Brackets are about how fast you want to win. Show deck.
>>98504171>Anti-Proxy fags, what do you do when you run into those 30-40 year olds who own multiple blinged out copies of all the cards you hate? One in ten thousand players. Basically a unicorn. Meanwhile proxyfags are one in ten. I know which one's worse for my games.
>>98504137Land is part of the deck composition as a whole is taken into account. I don't know about the rest of the deck, but the landbase was just about as perfect as it gets, minus surveil lands, so to me that alone makes it b3.
>>98504171I feel like that’s less an issue with proxies and more so an issue with playing in pods with mismatched brackets.
>>98504128As reality should be.
>>98504188So would a precon that replaces all its tap lands with untapped duals be B3?
>Someone brings up proxies.>Their post isn't even shaming proxies, just a douchebag who broke the social contract>Suddenly people are running in screaming "antiproxyfags!"I'm pro proxy, but the victim complex is off the charts.
>>98504193All anti-proxy shit tends to be an issue of mismatched brackets.
>>98504197They get defensive because they're the people proxying for that reason.
>>98504197>Their post isn't even shaming proxies, just a douchebag who broke the social contractBy proxying.
>>98504196Most likely, yes. Its going to be gassing 3-4 turns faster than the other precons because its not losing turns to not having mana from a land just played and getting to all its best stuff quicker because its thinning their deck.
>>98504186It sounds like both of them are awful for the same connented reason: they're using prohibitively expensive cards that really shouldn't be played with (in your opinion) to begin with.
>>98504171>The One Ring is a gay card>it's also $100>because it's $100, the gay card will show up less in my games>sometimes it does but it's so infrequent as to not grate>The One Ring is a free card that is so good it goes in every deck>suddenly seeing The One Ring every single game>players do not know how to regulate themselves, so they just play this unfun card everywhere all the timeSame reason Sol Ring should be banned, but the sentiment applies to proxytards making my games worse.
>>98504209Yep, the difference is frequency. The proxyfags are more common and therefore worse.
>>98504209If you buy it then you have a right to play them.
>>98504213Sounds like the problem is The One Ring being too good. Almost like a card that can go into any deck, draws a million cards and saves your life for a turn is too good and should be banned.
>>98504196Possibly depending on the precon, but the Edea deck had much better deck composition than a precon besides the landbase, since it was pretty much all synergystic, as opposed to precons which tries to do multiple different strategies.
>>98504220Yeah, it is. And I've just elucidated why it's a problem when you add proxying to players' deckbuilding.
>>98504223Where is the Edea deck I keep hearing about?
>>98504226In the archive 2-3 threads ago. Go find it if you have to see it with your own eyes.
>>98504223>Possibly depending on the preconLOLif your answer is not an unambiguous, unequivocal "NO" then you are terrible at Magic! Dismissed!
>>98504217They are a bigger issue, but they are not worse individually. And again, that's just the ones that proxy power.
>>98504213This creates an issue where the game becomes about who is richer. I'd rather everyone have access to everything than richfags getting exclusive access to the most powerful stuff in the game.
>>98504230I don't really touch precons, but I have heard some are bracket 3 even with shit lands, like the elemental lorwyn deck.
>>98504232>This creates an issue where the game becomes about who is richer. And that's a GOOD thing!
>>98504231Nah morally speaking they are far worse than older people that simply have been playing longer than you.
>>98504232No it doesn't you whiny little faggot. Most people just make do and DON'T play with every single powerful expensive card in existence. Hard to believe I know.
>>98504230Yeah they literally print infinite combos in precons now. Those land bases being shitty is what holds them back on purpose.
>>98504241I mean he is right though and you didn't actually have a rebuttal besides "nuh uh"
>>98504232>This creates an issue where the game becomes about who is richer.Yes. The rich fags would all hang out at their richfag table and the other 6 tables could just be chill and they would barely interact. The 3's would likely have 1 ToR every 2 games instead of 1 in every deck, every single game.
>>98504241Sounds like you just want to style on poors and are mad proxy cards are here to stay.
>>98504232You are literally only saying this because you are poor.
>tfw your bulk box slopdeck rekts the moneyfag and he rants and raves about how its not fair your deck is better than his
>>98504253You could instead use the bracket system
>>98503940I don't think it will work out. While some angels might lend themselves to control, you're not going to have blue for the most disgusting control aspects and will need white hatebears, which tend to be small, non-angel creatures.I think if you want to run Seluma, just embrace the big flying bitches angle of angels and punch people in the face with them.I run an Avacyn deck that pushes a level of control with small human hatebears like Thalia (both of them) while I develop my board state to safely bring out the big girl and once she's out, it's board wipe o'clock.
>>98504232>This creates an issue>where the game becomes about who is richerSpeak English.
>>985042582k mana bases in B2 make him seethe though, legal btw.
More cards should be banned so we don't need brackets.
>>98504264He should probably tell that to Gavin
>NO NO NO I HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE ONE RING>NO I WONT SPEND $100>NO I DONT CARE THAT NO ONE ELSE AT THE TABLE ISN'T RUNNING IT>THERE'S SOME GUY I MADE UP IN MY HEAD WHO HAS THE ONE RING SOMEWHERE BUT I DON'T!>IT'S NOT FAIR I WANT IT!!!
>>98504268Just go to a store that bans proxies. This really seems like a (You) problem.
>>98504268Imagine be too much of a pussy to ask the pod not to proxy and play on the level of your shitty deck.
>>98504277You realize this is why they buy and do free advertising for chines bootlegs, right?>>98504258You could instead, actually play with real cards as the game is intended. Precons aren't expensive. You can also make powerful decks that are 20 dollars. They have decklists for them everywhere. But you know. Fred has a one ring, and you're smelly jelly, so you need one too. Because its not about your creativity not measuring up, that's as bankrupt as you are.
>>98504257>tfw you introduce your friends to Magic and they talk shit about you, someone that's been playing literally half their life, about how you're only better than them because you have money behind your cards>tfw they build $1,000 proxy decks just to "compete" when your most expensive deck is maybe $500>tfw you build some ultra budget but far more degenerate trash with stuff like Zada and Gargos and whoop their asses still anywaysFeels good being the king of games in your group.
>>98504293post deck that can beat rogsi
>>98504294Hey my friends are gay but they aren't full on trans.
>>98504294>umm post deck that does (completely unrelated thing to what anon is talking about)Epic
>>98504293>tfw they build $1,000 proxy deckswhat did they print on? Solid gold? My proxies cost around 3 cents a card.
>>98504294There he is, outing himself, after having yet another full melty because people are sucking his dick for being a proxytard.
>>98504308what did anon mean by this post?
>>98504303That's exactly what I was talking about though? People playing gay ass overpriced decks which RogSi entails. They probably would actually beat me more with those cards if they were better at the game but they aren't yet.
>>98504292Or you could just use the bracket system since your issue isn't solved by prohibiting proxies but is solved by using the bracket system.
>>98504294I’m sure a y’shtola deck could beat rogsi
>>98504305This post is so absolutely retarded I'm going to assume it is a joke, but no they went to Staples. Literally got it for free one of them because the guy there felt like being nice.
>>98504293>Go look at my shitty deck that is half proxies>Which is a 4.>2500 dollary doosWhen the fuck did that happen? Pretty sure when I built it was only like 800. (minus the two RL cards.) You'd probably beat my deck too, and that's fine. I'm just having fun.
>EDH night>Sit down with a random pod>B2>Pull out my trusty Akim, the Soaring Wind deck.>Turn one, scalding Tarn>Player across from me begins gnashing his teeth>Crack fetch, find Plateau>Teeth gnasher tears his shirt open and begins screaming>"This is B2 you motherfucker, bracket TWO, how fucking dare you pubstomp us like this. Fuck you>He pulls out a gun and points it at himself>"I'll fucking show you, you won't beat me fuck">Shot rings out.>The local Rogsi player shot him in the back, he winks at me, then sits back down and finishes casting Tainted Pact.>Rest of the pod plays as normal.
>>98504323A lot of cards have climbed over the years. Some 2 dolla cards are running 5+ theses days.
>>98504329Imagine having a victim complex and a hero complex at the same time.
>>98504323Yeah prices feel really weird after a decade of playing. Stuff like Blood Artist, Dark Ritual, and Ashnod's Altar being expensive when I've got dozens of each of them is just wrong.
>>98503696>TQYes and no. I was in a club at uni and a large portion played EDH, and was my gateway into magic. The club prez had a very specific idea on how magic was to be played and most others went along with him. The prez also helped me learn how to play and gave me some deckbuilding tips. Even let me use his bulk to make some beginner self-brews. Lot of fun nights and games the pandemic, my place was were we meet every week to play in the later. The day before he left town after graduating he told me that some people in the group didn’t like playing with me, and that I was an inteachable player. Someone who I considered a close friend had apparently been nothing of the sorts, and left town after stabbing me in the gut. Never quite got his deal, and I don’t think I’ll ever care to figure it out.
>>98504329B2 is vibes and a lack of game changers and infinite combos. Tranners that clutch their pearls over optimal expensive cards claiming they aren’t b2 are retarded, I will play fetch lands, dark ritual and displacer kitten in my shitty dimir initiative deck no matter what, I want to have fun not be a punching bag.
>>98504336Several years ago, I bought a few Nykthos Shrine to Nix's for 14 bucks each. I went back a couple weeks later to get a couple more and they had jumped to 33 a pop.Just checked Card Kingdom and they're sitting at $65.I have 6 in various decks. Want to finish a 7th deck and I need one because it's mono-R.Oh well.Printer go brrrr...
>>98504349>dark ritual and displacer kittenAt first I was going to say>People actually bitch about this?but then I remembered where I am.
>>98504349>B2 is vibes and a lack of game changers and infinite combosOk, this is expected.>I will play fetch lands, dark ritual and displacer kittenOk, then you're literally not playing for vibes.
>>98504336This was 2 years ago, not 10. Its seems absurd for that little time.
>>98504357Yeah that's another good one! God I wish I had actually purchased five copies instead of one and four proxies all those years ago. Ah well, it's only money.
>>98504366He NEEDS to beat precons. Please understand.
>>98504366Based angle shooter
>>98504360The thing is B2 was supposed to be the containment zone for casuals while normal Magic players stuck to B3 or B4 but casual spikes still also exist and ruin everything for poor classic Timmy.
>>98504366>proves my point by arbitrarily clutching pearlsNigger I said it was for an initiative deck, initiative is as casual of a mechanic as you could possibly play, playing optimal cards for a smoother experience is for my benefit after choosing a deliberately slow playstyle for my opponents benefit.
So what's the cutoff? If I play a single Shock or True. My deck is b3 now? Tell me the levels, where are theses rules?
>>98504398How long are you going to continue to cry and cope because you were called out for being creatively bankrupt?10 more threads? You reek of the "lands should free" retard.
>>98504402>where are these rulesI made them the fuck up.
>>98504402There aren't any. It's called having self control and realising when your deck is too strong for the bracket you're playing in.In bracket 2 if you want to be sure, I would stay away from all fetches, shocks, and true duals altogether.
>>98504398You do know that guy is just a shitposter, right?
>>98504430If it isn't breaking the bracket rules then it isn't too strong.
>>98504430lol well you're an idiot then
>>98504430So then there is no problem. If there is nothing saying Shocks, True Duals, make your deck B3 or otherwise. then this is a non-issue.
>>98504436It is.This was all explained to you last time you whined. The reason hasn't changed. The level of an average precon, is the level of an average precon. Having an optimized landbase, removes it from that category. Precons don't have those levels of land bases. It really is that simple. If everyone is telling you that you are wrong other than one retard, or sockpuppet. Its because you are actually wrong. Not because you're some genius prodigy. You're just a dipshit with no self-control angleshooting with proxies. If you owned the lands, I would still tell you the same. You need to sit down and actually self-reflect. Why do you need to beat precons so badly? Fix that. You won't, but until you do, you should probably fuck off.
>>98504462There is nothing saying Bracket 2 is solely for Precons. You are the one saying it is. Precons are the lowest level of B2.
>>98504462>deck still wins on turn 8>but your land didn't enter tapped so it's b3!ok

More shit that gives small benefits from getting tapped?I dunno. I don't fuck with vehicles. I think you need at least one piece of board wipe protection, in whatever for that might take. Yeah, I know she gets free recursion, but that still doesn't mean you can't get pushed back quite a bit.
>>98504462To add to that as I had in the previous thread (and here), whole deck composition is what determines your decks bracket. The hard specified limits only define the ground floor. This has been officially stated.
>>98503940I like this card but the more I look at it the more that rulebreaker ability feels like a trap.

>>98502072Weirdly, no, and I got my hands on a deck with 10 minutes to spare before they went on backorder. Also, the production and shipping page is more than two weeks out of date.

>>98505111Brother!If I don't already own it, I proxy it. Ever since they announced multiple annual standard legal UB sets a few weeks before Foundations launched. I went from replacing all my proxies of cards I already owned that cost less than a color with the actual cards to not buying any cards (until this year when I bought a strixhaven prerelease kit for prerelease, and will contiue to to in-universe sets that don't look like shit).
>>98505225tcgplayer having awful sellers is why I proxy even cheap shit now.

>>98504261You're probably right, I just hate how blue is like 100% a necessity to really get the most bang for your buck on the control side of things, really want to just try to do a fun mono white that slows things down enough that you can have late game angels carry you
>>98505392>I just hate how blue is like 100% a necessityblue is only really necessary when it comes to cedh as the disadvantage of countering one opponent's spell at the cost of a card is offset by your thoracle combo (also rhystic study)you can definitely find success in b2 without using blue at all, just go boardwipe.dec
>>98504713My stance on most of the rulebreaker cards is that you're better off just picking a commander in your actual color identity that lets you run fixing that isn't shit. The rewards aren't worth it.
>>98505251I got sick of buying 40 cards, having them come in 20 packages, and then having one or two not show up for two months. If I end up putting a proxy order in these days I just proxy the entire deck to avoid having to buy 10 cent commons that have to be shipped by a blind one armed man in a canoe.
>>98505456for me I don't mind the multiple packages. I have a lot of the cards I need already. What I don't have is a bunch of 30-70 cent commons/uncommons. And it's impossible to buy them and get them shipped for <3 dollars.>inb4 LGSMy LGS is shit and has a useless inventory
>>98505464It's not the mass packages. It's that one won't arrive on average or will be super late. If they all arrived on time, I wouldn't care. I've had to rebuy cards I ordered solely because they didn't arrived after over a month. This shit got way more common on TCGPlayer over the past few years.I do usually check my LGS but they have a serious issue with their system being down 50% of the time and being unable to sell any singles as a result.
>>98505470It's because Ebay bought them, fired everyone, then raised commission percentages.I've had orders where they forgot a 10 cent common, then refund me it. Fucking annoying because I'm usually buying 20+ cards because I want commons/uncommons, so one missing is essentially a dollar+ mistake to get on its own
>>98505507I once had someone send me a card with literally nothing to protect it. Arrived bent in half. Had to reorder it from someone else.
>>98505456>>98505470Because fuckwads on tcgplayer have zero clue how to properly ship a large order of cards. By "large" I mean literally any amount of cards too big to fit into 2 top loaders and these niggers go total apeshit with packaging. They package envelopes incorrectly, they aren't machinable as a result, get thrown into a "non-machinable bin", then can sit at sorting facilities for weeks because those bins need to get manually sorted.
>>98505530I leave a negative review on any store that takes too long. Don't want your rating to plummet? Stop being lazy.
>>98505535Sometimes random bullshit does happen with the USPS that makes orders take longer. But once it finally arrives you can easily tell if the seller fucked up the packaging that caused the delay.
The absolute biggest scum of tcgplayer are niggers who list their bulk cards then cancel your order if it's "too big to ship". These faggots should be insta banned off the platform for pulling this shit even once. DO NOT LIST YOUR ENTIRE BULK INVENTORY IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO SHIP LARGE ORDERS
>>98503696>TQNo but something happened when I was away for work for a month with my group where two of them won’t show-up if the other one is there. tq: no because I have no friends and never have had any friends that played magic. me and all my friends only ever got back into pokemon like 15 years ago for the LULZ. we had a large old house we rented and we needed 1 more dude and he was a FoaF.. HE used to do pro tour magic in the late 90s early 00's and showed me Magic. eventually his brother replaced one of the other OGl roommates and those are the only 2 people I've known personally who I've played magic with, and I haven't seen them in like 16 years. >RE: proxiesI've started now for b2 and b3 built decks to only include one true dual, up to 2 on-color fetches and no limit on shocks. (shocks are like $7 who is complaining about shocks?)so a GUB deck might have: a bayou, overgrown tomb, breeding pool, misty rainforest and then some pain lands, bond lands, the new marvel lands, and a good amount of basics. 2 color decks might have the one true dual or none, and 5 color decks I might throw in a 2nd true dual. the important thing is having fetchable lands really. I also like to have them be foreign white border ones so there is plausible deniability about any of the shit being proxies, and being in my mid 30s it's reasonable that I might have these cards. I only play randoms, or sometimes some very brief acquaintances I only know at the LGS, and even then I cycle LGS' every once in awhile, show up to one a couple times a week for a couple weeks then go to one of the other ones in the town. all that said, the land bases do not affect the bracket. I only do this to avoid drawing attention to using potentially Chinese cards and/or avoiding trying to flaunt off that I'm potentially rich and trying to pubstomp with my wallet. (and by rich to people that just means getting good deals when you started playing and not selling your shit off like a crackhead). I also have the need in my deck to play a bayou and then slapping it on the table and saying "we're goinnnnn down to the bayoooouuuuu boiiiii"
>>98506250>>>meant this to say I have no friends who play magic* ah well. I said what I said. they all played pokemon and now play nothing and have had zero interest in ever getting into magic, and I've never really met anyone at an LGS that I would want to hang with or talk to outside of a game
>>98505625>https://moxfield.com/sets/YlDMo>>98505629these cards all fucking blowthe red craterhoof is silly, would be a nice alt finisher for a mono red Knuckles deck but really unwieldy to cast (unless you have a bunch of treasures from trying to get 30 treasures)everything else is very blah and uninspired. you can't have a "reality shift" set that doesnt break the color pie somewhat, and thats the ultimate sin for head-retard in charge, mark rosewater
>>98506250>Land bases don't matter XDThen don't run them. Your deck will preform the same, since they don't matter.
>>98506322You don't know better than Gavin.
>>98503696>TQNo.
>>98506329If they don't matter, why are you running them?
>>98506322I do run them for flavor. and because theres no reason not to. the only reason I dont run all of them or all green related ones in a 5 color deck is to not make it seems over the topalso in a 5 color deck having a Savannah and a Tropical Island + Breeding Pool and Rejuvenating Spring, etc is going to be more effective than a Plateau and a Scrubland, if you're using green ramp to get domain. there's also a point where it becomes over the top and unlikely to have all those in a mid power 5 color deck. additionally you wouldn't even want to run every different variation of non basic lands since its generally a good idea to have at least 2 of each color basic in your deck and 4 or the lead color. even just for defeating blood moon in bracket 2.
>>98506322>Then don't run them. Your deck will preform the sameThen what's the argument against them?
I don't run any basic lands in my 5 color deck
>>98506412>because theres no reason not to.There also no reason to.You seem to have generally thought why you are using them so you have some sense of self-control so Ill give you a pass.
>>98506437I always like to put some basic lands from my commander's home plane in my deck so I run 2 of each basic in my Horde of Notions deck.
>>98506437>>98506437I do.
Why can't you guys get along and be normal people
>>98506433It won't run the same. Is dispelling your miserable cope. You run them so your deck is more consistent and isn't slowed by tapped lands. They matter and you retards need to stop pretending they don't.
>>98506437not a great idea. even in low brackets where you think you might not find a blood moon, if you play randoms sometimes they creep in. and not everyone uses brackets. if you play randoms its sometimes 50:50 if they will abide or even know what that means. basic lands are good. >>98506444very cool idea>>98506442>>98506322I do also run them because almost all my paper decks I prototype and play against real people on MTGO where a Bayou costs $6 and an Underground sea costs $12.50. and at any bracket level its likely to see a tropical island, savannah, taiga (particularly green-related ones) on there. so its not weird at all. I will often 1:1 the MTGO deck list for paper and if that includes an ABUR dual, if I have copy, whether it's real or a Chinese reprint I'll keep that in the deck.
>>98506485You the one who said it don't ,atter. It clearly do be matter. The first step any player takes is making day manabase bette
>>98506507No, I am not the one who said they don't matter.Reading and understanding the chain is hard, I know.
>>98506485even if I took out the 1 or 2 ABUR dual I use, I still wouldn't have to deal with lands coming in tapped 98% of the time because the other lands I play don't come in tapped. like the bond lands, the "tapped unless two or more other [basic] lands" which the ones requiring basics have the basic subtypes so they can be fetched. Half the green land tutors put them in tapped anywaythis is also why, especially in 3 color and ESPECIALLY in 5 color you want to run basics, so in the event you arent running every ABUR or shock that you can get some other lands in your main colors that aren't going to be tapped. that plus usually you have a primary and secondary color and its better to have 5 different green blue lands than rainbow of random color combos (this is more towards 5 color particularly).
>cards arrived for my living weapons rebuild>cards arrived for saga creature deck>excited to build both>still want to keep this deck together for tonight's FNM commanderAhh fuck
>>98504175They decoupled precons from bracket 2.
>>98506537Why would you need to take your gruul deck apart for all that? Do the lists you mentioned really share that many cards with what you posted?
>>98506618when? To be honest, the "stewards of the format" are just as slow and inattentive as the old ones. I wish those death threats were death promises instead. إن شاء الله
A well-tuned manabase basically puts you ahead one turn in mana if the rest of the table plays taplands. In bracket 5 and in some bracket 4 tables, this is necessary because those decks can't afford to go behind even one turn, since the game can end quickly. In other brackets, since they last longer, the advantage/disavantage gained by any individual non-GC land drop is minisculed,) due to the sheer volume of land drops occurring. Thus, a tuned landbase with duals is fine in lower brackets, even if it offers a noticable advantage, provided that the spell quality is an honest representation of that deck's bracket.
>>98506629October of last year.
>>98506619Not really, no. The saga creature deck needs Bahamut, and the Living Weapons deck will want Shadowspear. But I do only own one of each fetch, and my autistic optimization brain tells me I'll feel bad without them.I also only own so many sleeves and I'm not in the mood for buying more.
>>98506537>living weaponsI ran that with Nahiri and I would either play half my deck in one turn or do nothing
>>98506743I built it Dalakos last time, and that's who it'll be on the rebuild. The low-curve living weapons in lieu of the absolutely rancid high-curve shit will make the deck way more playable. Plus I'm looking forward to Descendants' Fury-ing a germ token away and getting Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant as they're both Phyrexians.
I could have sworn we already had foundations commander decks but apparently this is a brand new product?I must be retarded
>>98506791These got previewed like a year ago.
You'd think people would have already put up they mystery booster commanders of sale
>>98506791Yeah, these decks will be released same time as Reality Fracture set.
>>98506813It's gonna be hyper-limited til we start seeing it more, they opened like a few boxes at the convention. Afterward everything will crater.
>>98506791You might be thinking of the "Starter Commander Decks" product (SCD) from 2022.Foundations (2024) didn't have any commander product associated with it. Although it did have a Jumpstart set which has the same straight-to-Legacy legality as commander products do.
is there a way to search how many basics each color combo runs on average? there are exceptions if someone runs a lot of devotion but it would be neat to see some generic deck basic land distribution for 2,3 and even 4 to 5 color decks. just so I know how effective my from the ashes is on average
>>98506850Averages aren't a helpful metric, because the average commander player is retarded.
>>98506850Decks tend to run way less basics and sometimes no basics if they have 4-5 colors since they rely heavily on nonbasics for mana fixing, if you play in a pod that has alot of 4-5 color decks I think From the Ashes would be a solid choice
>>98503825>>98503836I have the same attitude. I want to make a custom set that's as simple and elegant as magic can be while still being deep and fun, where most of the non-rare creatures are Vanilla or French Vanilla or have simple ETB effects; Giant Growth, Unsummon, et cetera.
>>98506857I know, I was just thinking if an average deck is like a precon then it's not even close to worth it to run randomly. just like >>98506860 said. I'd have to slot it in just before preying on decks like this

I'm thinking of building a Piru deck with a bunch of dorks that have protection from white, red or black so they all survive her big blast and then running some other mass damage effects such as Pestilence and Earthquake. Is it fair to classify this terrible idea as bracket 1?
>>98507052How fast do it be winning?
>>98507052That's bracket 2. Bracket 1 is not a real bracket, and if you're thinking of a "strategy" for your deck you've already failed at it.
>>98507030Looks like you copy pasted the most common cards from edhrec for that deck.
>>98507052I run it as stuffy doll.dec.
>>98507052The way to think of Backet 1 is if your deck has a non-mechanical theme. You're already putting too much thought into how the deck wins.
>>98507058Does it? I just put in clones, bombs, steal effects, some sac outlets and a few pieces of low cost interaction. The deck does build itself. I usually use scryfall search and looking for specific things for a given deck, for example, right now I am deep diving >function:mana-rock mv:3 type:artifactWhich I have already spotted a good synergistic 3CMC rock in Transmogrant Altar>Turn a stolen creature into a psudo Dark Rit>Or a 3/3 blocker>Shores up one my weaknesses of needing cheap chump blockers.Though, in retrospect, maybe this is the problem. I'm trying to make every thing synergistic.
>>98507014>>98505105its like closer to $40 now I think. I just added one to my bootleg mage order. Im not really employed or unemployed (self employed) and spend like 200 a week on magic cards. I couldn't justify $40 for the kitty. however I do not balk at buying a $12 birds of paradise every time I make a new deck with green in it (I've bought 3 in last 2 months).
>>98505470>>98505456I do think it is fun getting like 3 envelopes a day when actively building decks with tcgplayer and eBay singles. I'm sure my mail lady hates it though if card kingdom didnt charge so much it would be better just to give them a deck list but some of their shit is outrageously overpriced.

>>98507118No, that'd be you retard-kun. Explain what makes this random anon's deck such an outlier. I'll wait. It's threaten.dek, and if your commander is out you can't even get rid of the cards you sacrifice. They just go back under the control of their owners. This deck is definitional bracket 2.
>>98507132>This deck is definitional bracket 2.Retard.
>>98507055Not very fast at all, I would imagine. It would definitely take more than 10 turns.>>98507056>>98507080I see. I suppose it will be as low to the floor of bracket 2 as it gets then.>>98507065That's also pretty funny. Killing someone by launching a Fire Covenant for 40 at your own guy is charming.
>>98507132From what I skimmed in the last threads my deck is>Too optimized>The manabase is too goodIt is my "default" deck for when pods and players are "unsure" what bracket they are. A safe option who's main wincon is my opponents creatures, but 2 players now have accused it of not being bracket two and I want it to stay my "safe, default deck" for new players/pods.
>>98507151That's because the average Magic player is a fucking moron. This is 100% a bracket 2 deck.
>>98507110ive looked some potential cards up on there but never made a purchase yet. I'd definitely consider it. I think tcgplayer is gay just because they won't sell the "banned" cards like Cleanse and Crusade which is SJW posturing BS. why is mana pool better though? I'm definitely interested

>>98507271Yeah and I remember years and years ago back when it was good. Mana Pool is not like that. It's about as sloppy as what we already have and also just as stingy with setting up free shipping for you.
>Naked Singularity raise deck to Bracket 4Are we for real?
>>98507286Huh? Manapool's cart optimizer actively optimizes your cart. I've used it every time I've purchased singles and it always gets me a cheaper cart.

>>98507288Erm it's MLD chuddy... even though that card unplayable dogshit and is completely useless against any nonbasic lands....
Look how they massacred my lolibaba...Also I cannot for the life of my (and ai) find the original artist for this box art.
>>98504713i told you all. you could build a legendary angel with a 5c identity in any way you want. want control? you can focus on any gameplay aspect you like. but with this card, you are just playing a white deck that gets to play a couple different angels than usual at the price of a worse mana base. rule breaker reduces deckbuilding options, it doesn't open them.
>>98507262This is for a Bloodborne deck. But in the context of Berserk you'd be correct.
>>98507165oh damn yeah that is enticing. TCGroomer's is unbelievably bad. and they have the audacity to poll you every once in awhile on how often you use it. as if it's actually usable. >>98507180to be fair, its a high IQ inclusion (higher than the general IQ of average bracket 2 & 3 commander players at least). that is to say if they have any removal of all. the amount of times I've played Leyline of the Void or this lil bitty to shut down token swarms and Smo-Tithe and they have no disenchant is comical. especially on MTGO.
>>98507416ew black
>>98507361It doesn't destroy any lands you retard.
>>98507288>>98507361its somewhat loosely mass land denial but I dunno. I think blood moon is fair in bracket 3 (play more basics). certainly is harsher the less colors someone is running. still trying to decide if this is safe to include in either B/W or 5c bracket 3 decks– what are the most common cards that would get blown up? command tower? also would take out sol ring, and of course treasure and creature swarms.also bonus for it causing the original legend rule to come back into effect. or at least the way it was for a long time up until fairly recently (like Clone being commander removal)now just need an enchantment to restore mana burn and we're back in '09
>>98507604WotC has jewishly revised history and made MLD = "Mass Land DENIAL"
>>98507604neither does blood moon or back to basics but the argument is t hat MLD is also DENIAL of land. not being able to access your mana base is what "they" mean by MLD. I think its wack, I mean armageddon shouldn't be in every bracket 3 game but lands are not holy grail and should not be treated as such. I mean it's not weird to blow up someone's Maze of Ith with an Acidic Slime but just the nature of lands being destroyed is too "holy" now outside of bracket 4 (and bracket 5 isnt commander). and that aint right
Conker's Bad Fur day UB when??
Where does this card land on the MLD bracket conversation? It can potentially cripple a greedy deck but it's very survivable for most 1c, 2c, and some 3c decks.
>>98507638I believe Gavin explicitly said this one is not MLD. It has the potential to MLD but it's entirely on the player for loading their entire deck up with nonbasics.
>>98507638This card is based. FUCK CREATURES, FUCK ENCHANTMENTS, FUCK NONBASIC LANDS
>>98507638It replaces the lands it hits, so it's not mld

>>98507614>>98507629That is honestly very fucked up of them. You can even google it and AI literally confirms for you that yeah, they did it immediately as they took over and invented brackets. This is some goddamn historical revisionism.
AIEEEE WHY CAN'T I RUN WINTER ORB URZA IN B2?
>>98507879Why don't you shut the fuck->Sinkhole...Never mind.
>>98507729Two card infinite combos also exist in precons nowadays therefore every deck should be allowed to play them. It's only fair. :^)
>>98507951>Anon finally understands one more reason why they abandoned the "bracket 2 is precon-level" standard
>>98507916This but with Meria.
Do people actually enjoy combo?
>>98507987No I only whip it out when someone's being a faggot.
is there a decent token making suite in esper that would slot into the cat? im tired of waiting out till meren overreaches all their edicts before someone exiles all graves and I don't want to be a total no-game either with 15+ void effects
>>98507987They do because they're sweatlords with no other achievements in their lives and they think they're big brained and high skilled playing card A then card B
>>98506437Nobody has ever used swords to plowshares on any of your creatures?
>>98507416ew ai
>>98507772>>98507778add em to the threadchanger list
>>98507987Are we talking infinite/instawin combos or just general synergy combos?
>>98507987Some of the dumbest people ever play combo >I'm going to make an infinite amount of treasure tokens and and infinite amount of 1/1 creatures >You sure?>Yeah, I'm sure >Okay. They all come in tapped and I have an infinite amount of life now >Wait, why?>Blind Obedience and Authority of the Consuls have been out for a while >Okay. I pass Hilarious
>>98506301>these cards all fucking blowyeah I know that's why I asked for a quick rundown, because to my memory the ones "leaked" are ass
>>98507987yesall of my decks have at least one combo to make sure that the game ends at some point
my combo is putting cloud on the battlefield and equiping the buster sword that i put on the turn before
>>98507416ew duskmourn
>>98505625>alt planeswalkers don't even have the same costs as the originalswhat the fuck is the point of calling them alts, then
>>98508209Mine is untapping Solar Array 5 times and casting Darksteel Reactor.
>>98508209>>98508294based pro comboists
>>98506301I can't wait for the story to be "yes, millions upon millions are dead because of Phyrexia, and the consequent opening of the Omenpaths, but the main characters are a little less flawed than their counterparts, so Phyrexia invading the multiverse was actually a good thing!"Also when did Liliana despark?
>>98508315Same time as everyone else lost theirs.
>>98508209>>98508294how are you guys even allowed to play in your lgs?
Be honest, have you ever seen someone win the game with this?
>>98508434Since you asked me to be honest I'm gonna go with yes.
>>98508434i mean that's a easy as fuck win condition, better than "if you control 20 or more artifacts you win the game" even just lifelink to 50 and you're set
>>98508016Bitterblossom, bitterbloom bearer, ophiomancer, skrelv's hive.
>>98508434>Friend 1 is playing Oloro and has Voice of the Blessed with 10 counters and about 70 life>Friend 2 decides to Chaos Warp Voice of the Blessed to get rid of it>MFW he got fucking Felidar Sovereign
>>98508072Where? Is that confirmed? The left is the box art, the right is the card art.
>>98508596that's brilliant kek rng god
>>98508209this would never resolve in my b2 pod

>>98508712This is what I'm building right now.
>>98508920attractionbros get in here
>>98506791So they're doing full starter decks for commander now? Surely these can't be more than half the price at most of usual commander precons.
>>98506813How much stock of it would really be out there?
>>98507180You almost don't have a choice. Mono red removal is so fucking ass you need what few other choices like those you can get.
>>98508712Izzet all you play? Really?
>>98509017They already did a set of them a few years back, and I've seen those going for like 20 bucks.
>>98508694I am the original poster. Sorry, I thought you meant ai art. I used ai to search for the art and couldn't find it.
I was a bit of a fag at the LGS today.Forgive me for I have consoomed
>>98509069me on the left
>>98509069I will never understand why people buy cards with the hideous holostamp on them when there's a perfectly fine printing that doesn't have it.
>>98509175LGS didn't have any printings without it, and it doesn't bother me.
>>98509184>I strike at your foil
>>98509184It greatly annoys me, but only if I know that there is a non holostamp version. I wish my brain were normal like yours.
>>98508434Plenty of times with my Karametra Selesnya Slop deck>Have cards like Grazing Gladeherd, the various Wardens, Sunscorch Regent, etc.>Cast Chord of Calling just before my turn to grab Felidar Sovreign>Win
I cast storm herd, your go.
One day we will get a counterspell called "CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT, STAR FOX!"
>>98509317I cast Rakdos Charm in your end step.
