Is Nurgle the only marked faction without furrfags?
>>98510663
>>98510682I need Pestigor chariots and a Beastlord
>>98510682That wasn't a person at one point. Kairics turn into Tzaangors in some cults
>>98510663Pust or witch counts?
>>98510689Nurgle "chariot" should be a juggernaut, trading speed for inevitably crushing everything in its path.>inb4 India=poop=Nurgle
>>98510698No, it's a speedy vector of disease. 2nd edition gave them Nurgle marked Chariots, I just want them back and it allows for fast units that aren't on stupid flying bases
>>98510691people turning into beastmen isn't a thing exclusive to tzaangors
>>98510691>The Turnskin Curse, also known as the Turnskin Plague, is a supernatural ailment originating from the Witherdwell that transforms humans into gor-kin.
You now remember Thondia introduced Order Beastmen, Humans turned by the Ghur Quake in Ghur, and ended with an ominous possibility the Order of Azyr may just purge them. We have never heard of them again.
>>98510747Nigga that wasn't added in Thondia. That was 1st stated in the backstory for the Twistfray
i think nurgle needs a warhound unit.
>>98510749Twistfrays are evil Tzeentch mutants, Thondia introduced Beastmen created by the Realms' magic. They're entirely different.
Apparently the latest rumour engine is part of a magic boat carrier thing for dorfs. Something like picrel?
>>98510752Give them the cursed city bats
>>98510752Poxwretches act a bit like dogs
>>98510756Not very Nurglish
>>98510759bats are diseased to fuck mate
>>98510756nah, i was thinking rottweilers.
>>98510762Actually bats are super healthy, all the super aids living in them can't touch them due to thier insane metabolic rate making pathogens powerless
>>98510771Inhuman resistance to the pathogens they carry? that's totally not nurgle now, you're right!
>>98510755we already got boats with drons though
>>98510775They're animals. Any resistance from them would be inhuman
>>98510771They're diseased to fuck... As vectors of disease In the UK they're like the only thing that can give you rabies. Scary little bastards.
>>98510785
>Bees Mite infested bees with poison honey incubating plagues. Stingers that break off and spread disease. Fits the rural pagan thing Maggotkin has now, plus the themes of renewal with swarming, harvests like a garden, etc. Censers too.
>>98510792>In the UK they're like the only thing that can give you rabiesSounds bullshit
>>98510808It's a fact, faggot
>>98508440maybe the old world one is just two headed while the aos one is a misshappen spawn mutant?
>>98510808
>>98510815Being an island sounds fun. Poland keeps air droping meds to get rid off rabies in foxes, but Belarus doesn't give a fuck and let it fester in the wild and making sure 0 ill animals cross the 100s of km long land border is impossible
>>98510805Isn't some space marine already a walking bee hive?
>>98510784Well, it's not an actual boat. More like very elaborate shieldbearers.
when does the end of edition trainwreck finally start?
>>98510812Didn't we have chaos dragon art show up in soulbound recently? Yeah found it, looks pretty similar to the tow one honestly. Dunno how indicative that is of anything.>>98510888It's fluctuated a bit over the editions, given that we still have 3 tomes to go I'd say like december maybe?
>>98510906FEC and CoS released during Dawnbringers
>>98510928I think dorfs will tie in with the eoe since they've got a big release, but that still leaves the other two. Ogres in early september, giants and lizards in late sep/ october / early november, then dorfs as the christmas release of this year
>>98510906>Dunno how indicative that is of anything.most definitely nothing
>>98511064I do hope ghosts get some attention in the eoe campaign. Their tome was shit this edition, they deserve a little treat
>>98511068from the leaks olynder gets another big win

>>98510587No i didn't, what did they retcon from it? Or where can i read it?

>>98511356I read the beastclaw raiders battletome years ago, and the refresh made want to start collecting the new ogors, but i don't have the new tome, so that is why i'm asking about the new lore.
>>98510631I gotta know how “Endrinriggers” made it past multiple parties without the slip up. I get it’s supposed to be engine riggers, but come on.
>>98511386there's reviews of the tome up on youtube which allow you to read the whole thing if you just pause page per page, though you might have to strain your eyes a bit at timesI think the everwinter is still largely the same as before, though I haven't combed the tome or anything
>>98511283Clever
>>98511206One of my favourite pictures both for FEC and Fyreslayers
Chaos tomboy Neave kinda cute
My weekly check here, we got the Sylvaneth and COS battletomes a few weeks ago, have any of the other missing battletomes for 4th been uploaded as pdfs since?
>>98511583she's also fake. neave was never a chaos champion and belakor lies.
>>98511368Mind you the books are usually announced long ahead of time, we’ll likely have news before then.
Is it true Greywater rules are gone? There's no faction buffing CoS artillery? Grim if true
>>98511797They got rid of city rules and instead replaced them with city doctrines, so the rules are not tied to any city. If these were older editions they'd tie artifacts to cities, but all we got is a few generic ones.
>>98511797Some cities are getting fucked over but grey water is the one thats absolutely not. - Living city enthusiast.
>>98511813My city, Tempest Eye, is getting a special mention as a dead city in the next edition lol.
>>98511835these are cool designs but terrible heraldry, not distinct enough, near impossible to replicate and with little attention to their characterising element save a few
>>98511825One of the new cities is called tempest's mourn, which just sounds like tempests' eye 2.0
>>98511860You can easily abstract them though?
>>98511861That's what I meant, thanks anon.
>>98511626Bullshit. She wouldn't have been memory-wiped tons of times if she wasn't

>>98511797yeah>improved rally>+1 wound once per turn >+1 end spells rolls under orders >infantry move near heroes are the only battle formations so nothing for ranged you have to run cogforts if you want fun cannon rules
>>98511877no one plays Fyreslayers
>>98511896Even if they did, they don't really have anywhere to put these designs
>>98511896If Khazalids look cool and don’t require a PhD to play, they might have me. Already liked magmadroths, just not much of the foot dudes.
>>98511929Same. I do find it disappointing that they seem to do nothing more with the fyreslayer half aside from the one character. Would've loved some updated vulkites in the style of the flameseekers, or a drothblood unit.
>>98511874she doesnt get memory wiped, its just what happens when you get reforged. Belakor just "fills the gap" with his own bullshit to get neave on his side. she is an insanely good fighter after all.

Do we have a list of what Fyreslayers stuff is staying yet, I know Ogres did?
>>98512014There is, I just cant remember what it was.
>>98511944I’d like to see them split up the Flameseekers box into either a 5 man unit and 3 heroes or a 5 man unit and a council type unit like this.

>>98511983Learn 2 read
>>98512040I think the little droth goes better with the droth tamerif it looks wrong for someone to whip a cub then I guess it could be trivial to introduce the option to field riderless magmadroths for him to herd around
>>98512040No Warcry warband hasn't been split yet but I wish, but only if it's a true split unlike the Freeguild Corps. >BUT THEY CAN'T SELL A BOX IF YOU CAN'T PLAY WITH EVERYTHING IN IT Then just take every unit in it? >Runefather hero >Doomseeker tag along hero >Unit of warriors (5)>Mini Magmadroth and egg guy as a duoThat's a regiment
I don't really want to buy any more AoS stuff until The Last World is revealed. Too much of it is in the air and who knows long term which factions survive and which get squatted. I don't see a bright future for FS or IDK.
>>98512051You should. Fyreslayers have a BSB - use it to run a banner for abstracted designs.
>>98512054He doesn't whip droths, the little guy wants to protect his unhatched siblings so he'd tag along
>>98512056>No Warcry warband hasn't been split yettechnically the chamaleons one was
>>98512054I was thinking that too, but this one’s already mostly tamed and I feel would go better with a “lord”, like the Thrallmaster and his eel. The tamer would go well as a buff piece for a minidroth unit but maybe look awkward if he had his own.
>>98512057Don't start low popularity glub shitto armies like those or KO and you're probably safe.
>>98512069true and it predates the UW reworks too weird what're gw playing at then
What are you fucks working on this weekend?
>>98512057IDK are popular aren't they? Akhelian is one of the best looking centerpieces, and eel spam was meta for a while. Both will get souped before they get squatted.
>>98512075Nah, GW can squat whatever they want because sales only increase year on year and there's only so much capacity you can justify devoted to lagging sales If it isn't brand new it's up for squatting. Currently gw are fine to just leave stuff out of stock for however long but eventually they're just going to toss certain items. Legends is normalised now too, no one cares if they do it.
>>98512056I believe the Flameseekers sprues are even split up in such a way that they could split the box into individual parts. All the “heroes” on one sprue and the basic dudes on another.I wish they’d split Riverblades into 2 5-man units. The basic shitters could be the same warscrolls we have now that does zero damage and then the masked dudes+ warband leader could be a higher tier River temple unit that actually does something besides score points. The basic dudes even have an assembly option to make one a little more special and look like a champion.
>>98512060Anon, I don't play fyreslayers.
>>98512096You don't play anything, nogames
>>98512066I was thinking more about him teaching the young droth how to behave by bringing him along together with already tamed droths, and whipping thoseunless we go for something more convoluted and peta-friendly like droths communicating by whipping their tails so the tamer uses a literal whip to communicate with them

>>98512083Not sure when I want to start my lord regent, but I do. Just want to play some vista for a bit.
>>98512100It's not a peta thing, you don't get anywhere with training if you whip and magmadroths are like a brother species to fyreslayers considering ur gold is half vulcatrix you must be muslim or something?
>>98512083nothing that good jesus, but I got back from my birthday shit with buds and am sobering up while I attempt to get started on one of my tyrants. Pardon the camera quality my phones fucked.
>>98512330>It's not a peta thing, you don't get anywhere with training if you whipyou must be pretty fucking dumb to ignore all the years of animal abuse and slavery that have made the whip emblematic in the relation between master and mastered why do you think the magmadroth trainer was sculpted to wield a whip in the first place? is it just an accident to you? a lot of things in the world must look like coincidences to you then
>>98512373one of them literally wears a magmadroth pelt because they kill the unruly ones
Now Bretonnia is available to buy, I'm curious what became of the Brets of AoS? I remember they survived into AoS through a pocket realm in Ghyran or something
>>98512567Skaven killed them.
>>98512567The meme answer is that they became flesh eater courts The real answer is that there were a scant few left that are old as fuck The lady herself was also a thing but she got usurped by the everqueen for the order of the furrow, which was also another thing that was a successor of sorts for Bret’s in the lore.
>>98512567All dead from day 1
>>98512586Day 1 had rules that souped them with what was Empire A year in when the GA book dropped they were dead

>>98512591>A year in when the GA book dropped they were deadThis is what is going to happen in TLW to a couple factions too I bet.
>>98511132I think it's intended to be fungi, not barnacles
>>98512602It really won't. Which one would it even be? Fyreslayers are the premier tomb kings / bret candidate and they're getting a whole expansion.I think that anon from a couple threads back was right, they dumped beasts and bonesplitterz and fatcast this edition so they wouldn't have those squattings associated with 5th/tlw

The grand alliance forum seems convinced the new death megagargant, which was actually first called a chaos megagargant, is actually an ossiarch necro-titan now.
>>98512801Yeh heas in the starter with the slaanesh beastmen
>>98512801There's a mention if it in the CoS tome, isn't there?
"War giants of Ossia" is just a fancy name for Necropolis stalkers and Imortis Guard. Those things exist already
Just made some spagheti I think that even an ogre wouldn't eat.
>>98512857Too much or too awful?
>>98512801would make more sense since the elves did 9/11 against the ossiarchs.
>>98512801I hope sofuck SBGL
>>98512894Ossiarchs also did that whole fossil hunt for the big bone around lethis and had a guy build an ominously big thing.
>>98510631i'd love to get this model to start off painting as a beginner (i couldn't maintain the precision uniformity necessary for an astartes army, but skaven are more chaotic), but i don't want to buy a $200 box to get it.>inb4 3d printing3d printing is awful, i don't want a bunch of print lines on my champion.also, does anyone know where to get paints and brushes online? amazon charges 5 times what my local hobby shop charges, but the owners retired and shut down earlier this year. they gave good benefits for repeat customers too ugh.
>>98512922Surely you can find this guy on ebay or somewhere? I have tons of random stormies collected from people selling them for pennies over the years. Have a look, you might find something.
>>98512922ebay has some cheap listings for this guy, it's easy to find it on the second hand market because it comes with the starter
>>98512922Ebay, for both the model and the brushes. You'll have to look hard for the later though.
>reading Godeater's Son given the sequel >he really is just an edgelord Interesting world building, especially the horrifying chaos ritual, but the protag is almost insufferable
>>98512107The question I’m having is; do I paint the models I have but that I don’t really need for my list? Or just ignore em until I’m done with everything else I need done (like terrain, other models for a second army to practice with, etc)?
>>98512950You're going to destroy your eyes reading like that
>>98512950I'd recommend the audiobook version. The narrator does a good job and adds a little something to the experience.
>>98512962I like to change this up relatively frequently for a little variety (and because my zoomer brain likes to hop from project to project)
>>98512965At night?
>>98513038Especially at night, your burning high contrast images into them while they're attempting to focus in low light. High contrast never-ever.

>Gundam starter set is $35 The audiences are completely different, but damn this really was what underworlds was going to end up competing with. I can kinda understand it shutting down, although I fully expect 40k to maybe adopt its format sometime in the future at least to experiment with it. Maybe even with tau just to be cheeky with gundam assemble.
>>98512085>IDK are popular aren't theylmao
>>98513288I'm surprised they never did a 40k version of UW desu
>>98513321They kinda experimented with hex based stuff with some throw away games like dawn of war and that one darktide game, but nothing with cards proper I think.
>>98513288It's a massive loss-leader keep in mind, rest of the set costs are like 2-3x the price for Assembly. But yeah that's what UW price-point was like too, then they crept up to 60 which was still fine. Then they became pretty much 100USD for starter and 40-60 for warband it just killed it. Surprised they haven't gone 70USD for warbands when Killteam has.
>>98512922>>98512929Tons of them on ebay for like $10
>>98511132How are you supposed to fight that? Even if you defeat all Nurgle forces with little to no losses on your side, the city will be fucked for ages if not forever
>>98513426Faith and hope that sylvaneth are nearby to deal with the long term issues.
>>98513426Nurgle always seemed by far the shittiest enemy you could face to me for exactly this reasonBut yeah I assume you just pray the nastay awayDoesn't aqua ghyranis also help with corruption?
>>98511343Alternately, they were using a real animal as a reference and
>>98513340>Surprised they haven't gone 70USD for warbands when Killteam has.Killteam Warbands are double the size. $60 for UW bands was insane pricing, that shit was literally $25 a warband the first couple seasons. .
>>98513658As insane as it is, some of the GW character models by themselves are 40-50 dollar range. And it's just a tiny little single sprue.
>>98511626You didn't watch the show. >but the booksThe show specifically digs deeper into her past than the books. The books say she discovers she was a mortal that put up a heroic resistance to Chaos and got Reforged for it. In the show she digs deeper, realizes that her memories of being a mortal hero were in fact another person whom she murdered while she was attacking towns as a Chaos Champion. Her own memories as a Chaos Champion continue to haunt her every time she's Reforged, but she always chooses not to return to that life. The show is a sequel to the novel.
>>98513704have you ever considered that the lying and manipulating belakor is lying and manipulating?
>>98513712Be'lakor isn't even in the show you stupid little faggot. Neave talks to her own past self.
>>98513759i bet you dont even know that the dryad from the first book is working for belakor.
>>98513669Gw's character prices are absolutely insane. I don't know why they felt the need to inflate the prices on them to such a ridiculous degree, most other products have actually kept up with inflation somewhat. My personal pet peeve is the scarvet on aggradon costing 50 euros, while the normal unit with 3 guys costs 51.50. They're practically identical in size too, the scarvet is like 5% bigger at most. Annoys the shit out of me since I actually do like the model, but I just can't justify picking it up for that price out of principle. But yeah with that in mind underworlds can be a great source of hero sculpts. Single heroes cost the same as a whole warband anyway, while also being monopose themselves.
>>98513780How exactly do you propose that Be'lakor enters Neave's mind and soul while she's being Reforged in a maelstrom of divine Sigmarite energy and lightning magic? He would be literally obliterated from existence.
>>98513856I almost bought 4 models for $110+ USD.I went to ebay and got one of the new Ogor centerpieces for the same price. At least the centerpieces are big and you don't need more than 1.
>>98513930Oh yeah I remember the post, ironguts + a butcher right?I mean it's insane. 3 ironguts for 50 (ogres aren't THAT big really compared to say kroxigor or even Kurnoth hunters, other 3 man units of similar pricing) is already pretty steep, but inexplicably a single butcher costs 42 too. How the fuck does it cost ~85% of a three man elite unit?? Neither kit has much in the way of options too by the way, just headswaps iirc. Again, shame because I actually really like the new ironguts, favourite new ogre kit, but I'm never getting these fuckers unless they put em in a spearhead with 35% discount at some point.
>>98512922Issue 1 from the spearhead magazine is like $8 and it comes with 2 skaven and 1 SCE+pet
>>98513288>Hexagon map>cardsI really hope this shit becomes a huge success, just so GWS gets BTFO for fucking with Underworlds.(ib4 underworlds but 40k...)
>>98513961It was Cleavers, but I bet it'd be the same. The Butchers are $53 USD, and Cleavers are $60. I know only because I was talking to LGS staff about placing orders and saw their pricing sheet from GW.I'm glad I got into Ogors before the refresh, I already have almost 2k of Ironguts and Gluttons, so it's not the end of the world, but fuck me.
>>98513856Because you NIGGERS will nap it up and pay
>>98513996Apparently cleavers are the same price as ironguts yeah. At least those guys have a fair amount of options so there's some justification for the price there.Good luck with your ogres anon
>>98513288>Miniatures ×6 (RX-78-2 GUNDAM, Char’s Zaku Ⅱ, WING GUNDAM ZERO EW, - GUNDAM EPYON, GUNDAM BARBATOS LUPUS REX, GUNDAM VIDAR)>Tactics Cards ×18>Unit Cards ×6>Game Map ×1>Set of 10-sided dice ×1>Set of cardboard terrain ×1>Set of game tokens ×1>Handbook ×1>Quick Reference Sheet ×2Honestly glad I didn't buy into the gundam cardgame.I will probably try this new game.
I'm thinking of taking the plunge into AoS after reading up a lot on the lore and novels recently. I'm mostly a fluff guy, mainly only buy video games for 40k/WFH, but I want to give minis a try and AoS minis are just too good to pass up.Tzeentch is my favorite which led me to consider buying the Tzaangor spearhead. For someone who is completely new to minis, is this a wise decision? Would I be better off buying another set to practice painting first? I might go to a store to try to play, however I'm focused more on the painting side atm. And for if I do decide to play some spearhead games, is it as simple as going to a GW store and looking for other losers to play with? I have above average social skills so I can network if that's required.
>>98513996Yeah I'm just gonna wait for the spearhead to pick up a Butcher+Cleavers eventually. For now I just grabbed a box of Hunters+Firefirst, I'll get the hippo later sometime. I was planning to get a 2nd set of Riders to build them as the Raider Variant but that kit is like $80 there's no way I'm paying that.Fortunately I already have a whole big ass Ogor army, so I don't really need to buy extra Ironguts or Gluttons or whatever, it would just be nice to have.
>>98514016Dual-build premium pricing, I guess. Best of luck to you as well, friend. >>98514033Yeah, may as well wait for the Spearhead now. I don't really want more Gorgers, but whatever. The value is very clearly there. And for sure, I have 2 units of Glut/Guts, but one more of each isn't going to hurt and the fun of new models compared to ol' reliable 20+ year old sculpt.
>>98514029the whole setting is about to get wiped and rebooted. id either wait to see if you still like the new setting (doubtful) or just buy some TOW stuff
>>98514047The setting won't affect his gameplay experience, retardo.
>>98514029I don't want to discourage you because it's not THAT bad but tzaangors are not the most beginner friendly models. Again it's nothing insurmountable or anything but just something to be aware of. They've got a lot of very fine details, that kind of stuff. This specific box is pretty nice because if you do decide you like painting and stuff, all these models are also playable on 40k. Spearhead yeah head on down to whatever your local gamestore is, maybe check out some socials if you can beforehand. >>98514029>Would I be better off buying another set to practice painting first?Nah. Painting what you want means you're more likely to actually get the practice you need to not suck instead of poking a mini twice with a brush and then giving up. Also, the "oh I'm gonna ruin it" mindset is something you may as well get over sooner rather than later.>And for if I do decide to play some spearhead games, is it as simple as going to a GW store and looking for other losers to play with? I have above average social skills so I can network if that's required.Depends entirely on your local playerbase. But yes, do check things like local stores, search for local wargaming groups, check for potentially relevant Discord channels for your area, etc.
>>98514066Thanks for the advice. Not that it's going to change my mind, but what is usually considered the most noob friendly model/box?
>>98514053read his post he said he is a fluff guy. guys like him are most likely to quit the hobby over big lore changes. its a valid thing to consider
>>98514080In age of sigmar? Probably stormcast and nighthaunt. Just you know a heads up since you asked.Best of luck tzeentchbro. I have absolutely nothing to base this on but I feel like they'll receive a major expansion next edition.
I know people have already complained about the webstore changes but I've just gone on, clicked on the big mawtribes banner promoting the new models and it just brings up a video instead of taking you to the preorder page. What are they thinking
>>98514126The whole site is a mess like that where it'll just re-direct you to front page or some other part of their site. It's probably money laundering or some nepotism project.
>>98513288>>98514019The timeline mechanic is genuinely coolhttps://youtu.be/wVECHET6d5I?si=buIpNQaM4lJt7f43&t=152Overall it is like underworlds but more complex and flexible. You can apparently chose a team (I think it is bad, you should mostly play with stuff from your show, mixing Oz and Zeon feels wrong in a way)If GWS indeed makes a 40k underworlds I would like the timeline mechanic.
>>98514158There's apparently historical mode too, but I don't see how that's suppose to work. Probably some thrown together mission maps with suggested models for them. Granted it's what I should expect with a game that's most similar to EXVS.
>>98510689i just need beastmen to come back. fucking gw fags removing them because muh setting overlap. it's inevitable they'll get a range refresh and return in like 2029 or something. i'm glad they got pestichads though and i hope we get khorngors soon>>98510698these things are honestly sick as fuck. i'm a big fan of indian mythological art, and i've been fond of oversized medieval machines since that big-ass head chopping device from caligula
>>98511583A clip of this show was recommended in my youtube a while ago and the comments were full of people whining about how they missed fantasy, I saw someone calling it 'vegan 40k', which is just kinda funny when vegan 40k is anything after 8th edition startedThe funniest bit was 'old world is le bad though!' when people were reminded it existed (many of the people complaining had no idea), and I love the concept of someone who hates old world but liked 8th edition fantasy and end times, when everyone hates that shit
>>98513288>>98513340It is just the starter set that is $35. The rest is in the Underworlds price range.
>>98514179Are the men in this picture dragging that flying city?
>>98514244yesIIRC, they basically seek to drag the basic template of the city out to a spot, then drop it into the ground like a starcraft base. i kinda love ithttps://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/wiki/Metalith
>>98514270>The method by which these floating islands are moved varies depending on the Crusade and what Mortal Realm it is in. In the Realm of Ghur great beasts of burden are employed, while in the Realm of Shyish work gangs of hundreds of willing volunteers pull the metaliths, and in the Realm of Chamon it is common for Kharadron sky-ships to be contracted to haul them. The Kharadron are right there in the picture, I'd be fucking pissed if I was one of these peasants.
>>98514366I think in this case they'd be flagellants/penitents who do so out of choice, or they're pulling it as part of the ceremony of starting it's motion, then it'll be tugged by the sky dorfs the rest of the way, like a thing of emphasising that it'll be a unified effort. ...Or they just couldn't afford the cost of having it dragged by airship.
>>98514393Is there any lore on those anger spheres or are they just something cool for the artwork
>>98514239Well yeah, the SEED packs are insanely high priced.

>>98515272gnoblars got added to ogres because ogres were invented for a game of massed infantry regiments, and normal basic infantry units felt like a necessity to keep the gameplay at least tangentially similar, before the size creep of units and unit types more or less normalised monstrous infantry as well. ogres were halfway as revolutionary for warhammer as imperial knights were for 40k.but also gnoblars allowed gw to add little characteristic features and details on the models, to explain, say, how a leadbelcher operates a cannon alone while also carrying it, how ogres handle crafting small or menial stuff, and to make the ogres look bigger by making them stand close to something smaller.the idea at one very early point was to pair ogres with halflings, not goblins, but there were two problems: halflings weren't associated with the kind of brutality gw wanted ogres to embody, but most importantly, even if halflings were reimagined to be as brutal as ogres, it would still feel wrong to see ogres bully the much more relatable halflings than something conventionally ugly and bad as goblins.I think they did the wrong choice there, and many agree that this decision ended up turning ogres more and more into orcs-lite instead of something more unique, but it was a safe decision and in the end ogres were still successful.Removing gnoblars, or any kind of small guys, feels like a non-issue now, but I believe it will be felt enough to warrant something in the future, like how gorky orcs are alongside morky orcs and night goblins are with sun goblins.Hopefully they pick up on the idea of giving them halflings again, the zeitgeist about the fantasy genre expanded a lot since 20 years ago, and a crude, ugly and bad type of halfling could feel novel and work for all intents and purposes now.
Does anyone know of any places to buy/pre order bl books aside from gws site? I wanted a hard back copy of the god eater sequel but it seems to be sold out, and my usual go to also is sold out sadly.
>>98515450Didn't they give sons of behemat some type of red gargoyle creatures with a similar purpose to gnoblars? Maybe those guys will fulfill that role for ogres in the future too.But yeah the new designs seem to be made without gnoblars in mind. Good example is the new not!leadbelcher character, who has a shorter barrell which she holds with one hand and a sling around her body, instead of two hands.
>>98515461SoB only realy had red guys as a unique decoration for Brodd. From the leaked sprew i don't think they return for the mancrushers

While I dont think the chaos warrior update s2d got was as negative as ork boyz were for 40k, I can absolutely see them being redone in hindsight considering their initial etb nature, and there are complaints about the knights being a pain to assemble.

aside from monsters I feel like the OBR range is kinda finished.
>>98515622Nagash isn't very creative. Peak of his creativity was making a floating inverted pyramid.

>>98515560Yeah, warriors and knights are definitely getting redone next year.
>>98515577Literally no other model looks like Katakross in the whole range
>>98515663Void Dragon is a nice model I guess, but way too busy. The older C'tans were much better with how subdued they were. Also making the Void Dragon canon is gay and lame. >>98515557shit looked like ass back in the day
>>98515695Chunk of it is that back in the day people couldn't paint. Modern golden demons would do a better job than yesterday's bests
>>98515557How many griffins would AoS add?The only "true" one would be iridan's morrgryph, but we do have a bunch of "almost griffins"The lord aquilor on gryph-charger, the lord vigilant on gryph-stalker, the vanguard palladors and stormstrike palladors, and then the various gryph hounds spread across multiple models. Oh, and zonn's heliomorph is basically a griffin too though obviously not quite.Odd that there's no chaos griffins anymore. They used to have a model way, way back in the day. You can see it in the bottom right of the pic actually.
>>98515732I just wanna General on Griffin again. with a Generic option like the old one. But afther the Manticore I highly doubt that GW will do it. Like some other anon on other thread said. GW seems to be increasingly anti /your-dudes/.
>>98515739the new ogor on mount has a named and generic option
>>98515739It depends from model to model, there seems to be very little rhyme or reason to it. Like CoS has 4 named characters with no alternate builds for any of them, with tahlia's manticore being the most baffling since it already comes with a host of weapon options (and an extra helmeted head). But on the other hand morga, urak taar, vhordrai, ... are also very recent kits with generic build options. Just very arbitrary for some reason.
>>98515732>The only "true" one would be iridan's morrgryphDoes it count if it doesn't have any feline part?
>>98515803As does the new Chorf winged bull.
>>98515739>>98515803>>98515929The difference between thalia and those is that GW wants to push thalia at the forefront of narratives and books, so he HAS to be forced into popularity by removing alternatives.
Have they changed the released schedule of ebooks? Usually they're up at the same time as hardback preorders?
>>98515419Yeah it’s shit. Whoah Morga is using a religious fanatic for her own ends but doesn’t really care for religion. That’s badass and deep and nuanced!
>>98515419>>98516080Also I can literally show you I actually pre ordered the ogre army set but cancelled pre release because I listened to an in depth lore video going over the new codex. The focus on super lame and gay new characters over a more cultural/anthropological look at Ogors really turned me off AoS. I don’t care about marvel named characters. I care about how these fantasy races live and exist and interact with the setting. This focus on named characters is super game but it’s a problem with a lot of modern GW settings and I think it’s because they hire English grads to write now instead of Anthropology and History grads like they used to.

Yeah they use morga and redd as a way to explain the changes in ogre society and that's a bit meh, but I certainly don't think the tome leaves those aspects unexplored.
>>98516233Not so much philosophy. They explain how they think. But they don’t describe them in an anthropological or historical sense. That’s what’s so lame to me. Replacing the really interesting history and founding story/myths of the ogres, replacing the cultural write ups of how their tribes are structured, how their societies function (Gnoblars being vital to this in the pre flanderized lore) etc all for a lame character focus just sucks. I wanted to love the new Ogors as they were my old fantasy army, but the tome is what turned me off them and AoS as a whole. I say this without any kind of malice or irony, but I look forward to The Last World, because maybe that will be enough of a shift to interest me, because what the writers currently have is so incredibly boring.

>>98516246>They explain how they think. But they don’t describe them in an anthropological senseIt's been a while since I took anthro 101 but isn't this basically what anthropology is? Anyway I only skimmed the tome but I felt like all this stuff was generally in there. I didn't get the impression that it was a character-focused book. They're presented as the catalysts for the social upheaval among ogres, but the focus of the tome seemed very much on this change itself. The thing I would've liked to see most was some more geography, descriptions of the mawpaths, the ogre strongholds, that kind of stuff. The 8th edition armybook had a nice two page chapter on the mountains of the mourn that was very nice, would've liked something like that for Bjarl or whatever.

>>98516304before 4th dropped there was a novella with Skaven air pirates and I was sure the moulder bat clanrats where a given. It seemed a fittingly out there thing for AoSMeanwhile it's like we got TOW releases.
>>98516326as a skaven player i agree. we already have so many movement options and weird bullshit that having a flying unit would just be annoying (doubly so if it can do always three clawsteps ahead)in one of the battletomes there was mention of skaven grabbing hold of some kharadron frigates and repurposing them as fucked up death machines, but i think that just leads to some fun kitbashing opportunities more than anythingspeaking of though, i want clan skurvy or whatever evolved equivalent to become relevant again, shitty pirate rats were funny, especially when they're all undead
>>98516276Maybe you should read the fucking tome then instead of disagreeing with someone who read the tome but only have skimmed it yourself. It’s shit.
>>98516356Didn't you say you listened to an "in-depth lore review" like 30 minutes ago?Either way, all that shit is in the tome.
probably a dumbfuck question, but why does underworlds suck now? i played about 4 games of it in the past year and thought it was alright enough, so i'm curious how it used to be back in the day. all i really know is that the new card "art" all being model photos does kinda suck compared to the older illustrations
>>98516441Mostly just removal of character. No specific art, less faction specific cards repalced with 1 page of rules, settings don't get fleshed out (downstream from no art)

Had a discussion with a grognard at my local store yesterday about lore depth between WHF and AOS.>It was actually an interesting discussion so not trying to trash old fantasy players here. It ended with us both agreeing that WHF has more lore depth due to a longer runtime, but my counterargument, which he didn't accept at all, was AOS has denser lore output per year so the gulf between the two isn't that big and AOS will probably surpass WHF on objective terms in the near future. I didn't have numbers on hand to check so it had to be left at that.I know for novels AOS has about 100-120 books (depends on how you count it) and WHF is around 150-160, which to me confirms my argument. Similar ratio shows up for army books and other products that typically have lore segments in them. The only major advantage WHF has that I can think of was the lore bits from White Dwarf articles, but I don't think that's big enough to invalidate my point. Is there something I am missing? Do I need to admit to this oldhead that I was wrong when I see him again?
>>98516557>Is there something I am missing? Do I need to admit to this oldhead that I was wrong when I see him again?I still don't really feel like AOS has something on par with like some of the best WHF shit. I have yet to find something that's pulled me in as deeply as the original Gotrek and Felix, or Malus, or Thanquol and boneripper, SHIT even the series on Teclis and Tyrion.
>>98516557WHF also had the benefit of being written in a not-totally-corporate environment, so when people wrote for it, they probably didn’t have nearly as strict a deadline to finish their work and could just go on writing until their work was needed. AoS on the other hand was born in a fully corporate environment filled with “optimizations” in production, which also affects the quality and quantity of lore. Hence why AoS feels ocean wide but puddle deep. Especially with the amount of times one can learn a cool snippet, then try and look into it a little more only to find that the snippet you read is all that exists on that subject.
>>98516557There is also a problem of scale. AoS is so big that you have almost infinite space to place /your guys/ in, and those places are more varied then Old World could ever offer. But most of this places are not really defined, because how could they be in a limited time that AoS existed? This problem is probably way we don't have description for factions' standards, hierarchies or traditions. Ogors living in Ghur, where they fight muscle trees or living amber hills all day and those living in Hysh, reading ancient recipies written like political manifestos are probably alien to each other
>>98516463That's a big influence on gameplay right? You have never played UW nigga
>>98516538Did anyone ever figure out *why* gw only bothers with aqshy/ghyran/ghur anyway? Azyr is in the cuckshed, and ulgu is harder to work with without malerion's army, but still that leaves chamon, hysh, and shyish which they almost never touch. Especially chamon I feel like has been neglected hard ever since 1st edition kharadron/tzeentch stuff.
>>98516621There's planty of Shyish out there. Ulgu and Chamon jsut don't have any main character factions in them
>>98516621>AzyrIt's meant to be the hidden realm, we're not meant to have as good of an idea of what goes on there.>UlguGW would struggle to describe the "realm of secrets and shadows" in any satisfying way. >ChamonGW probably doesn't wanna touch this because people like the implication it's a weird pseudo sci-fi realm with robots and shit, GW probably doesn't wanna go there because they'd have to do art and model work for that shit and that's so far out from the norm.Ghur is just big angry jungle with big angry beasts, Aqshy is just main character realm, Shyish is just main character realm, Ghyran is main character realm but it's boring so it doesn't get the spotlight. Hysh is main character realm but boring so we don't see it.
>>98516621I wouldn't say that Hysh is ignored particularly, it's gotten a fair amount of development considering it was effectively a blank slate until late 2E. It's just dominated by LRL, so it's not often seen outside that context.
>>98516557>Is there something I am missing?Yes, two things:-not all lore is written equal, you could have 100+ novels each adding its own trove of irrelevant little factoids but the meat and bone of the setting will still be basic fundamental statements regarding what's normal, what are the limits, what are the rules, and what are examples of exceptions. second to that is fluff that adds depth to units and subfactions and interactions between factions. only after all that you can maybe hope to consider fluff that involves character dramas and their events as relevant, unless their importance gets overinflated, but then they become relevant at the cost of quality.-the vast majority of the important fluff is always written and added in short worldbuilding streaks; it doesn't matter that fantasy went on for 30 years, the important stuff got written within a few years between 3rd and 4th edition, similarly it doesn't matter that aos went on for 10 years, and it wouldn't matter if it went in for 20 or 30, the setting still largely is as it's been set down in the grounding attempt of 2nd edition. people also say that fantasy got depth because it got an rpg, but aos also got an rpg and that one added jack shit because they weren't allowed to add jack shit.
>>98516621Ghyran is the most interesting with its geography and has a lot of play, Ghur is just easy to write for because primitive shit is kinda fantasy stock which is why its the most boring realm, Aqshy is just kinda what AOS has focused on since 1st edition, which kinda happened with ghyran too.Chamon is just difficult to hold down because its the most alien of the realms, and it needs two maps to really navigate it.Shyish has a bit out there, but its usually expanded by stuff like soulbound and at its time cursed city. Ulgu has only been touched on in a very minor way, with like, dok. Hysh has its own lore tied with lumineth for better or worse, and they tried to tie gitmob into it for some reason.
>>98516621aqshy got chosen for the launch because in the first armies there would be khorne and fyreslayers, ghyran got chosen because some of the following waves or pushes would be about sylvaneth and nurgle, chamon featured slightly in the first edition because of tzeentchin the following editions gw would shy away from chamon because it's the realm they feel the least confident portraying without the nebulous elemental cringe that people criticised gw for at the launch of aos, ulgu gets neglected because shadow elves never ever.
>>98516621>Azyr is in the cuckshedGW has had the idea of sacrificing azyr and sigmar since day one, or at least day two.
>>98516600>I still don't really feel like AOS has something on par with like some of the best WHF shit. I have yet to find something that's pulled me in as deeply as the original Gotrek and Felix, or Malus, or Thanquol and boneripper, SHIT even the series on Teclis and Tyrion.I get you on that, but honestly that's more to do with an era we've left behind than anything. It's not like modern GW is cranking out enduring classic novel for 40K or TOW. Hell, there's only one TOW novel period, and it sucks. To the extent that current GW can even make anything soulful anymore, I would argue that AoS probably gets the most of it, 40K has become a cesspit of circle jerking, self-referential lore and novels, TOW gets the odd republished 80s/90s fantasy novel or omnibus, which is itself self-selecting, for every classic WHF novel there was a lot of shit, and AoS gets a mix of slop and the odd book written by someone who actually gives a shit. The TOW arcane journals are also super boring from a lore perspective, considering those are the battletome alternative. Overall I feel like AoS has the highest chance of being something that isn't pure corpo slop. if only because it hasn't been around long enough to turn into a temple of nostalgia like 40K and TOW are.
>>98516689The Chamon books written in the Realmgate Wars period were some wild shit, probably the closest AoS has come to pure cocaine fueled high fantasy adventure. But yeah, since then it just kinda turned into the Dwarf realm where nothing ever happens, not least because Fyreslayers and KO weren't meaningfully updated since 1E.
>>98516705>Overall I feel like AoS has the highest chance of being something that isn't pure corpo slop. if only because it hasn't been around long enough to turn into a temple of nostalgiaFair point and I do agree, the only problem is it also feels like GW is less likely to give it a chance. GW both seems to be willing to go out on a limb for weird shit (I.E Underworlds, Blacktalons, other weird shit they've only done with AOS) but on the other hand feels like they're playing it as safe as possible the other 99% of the time. I think GW if they went all out would be able to do a lot with AOS it's just, how fucking willing are they to go all out.
>>98516725Well dwarfs should be getting something soon with the Khazalids right?
>>98516557I admit I don't really read BL so my perspective might be skewed here but I don't think you can necessarily use "amount of black library novels" as a good indicator of lore depth. I would say that by far the biggest advantage of whfb over aos is a cohesive world. AoS, imo, lacks this cohesiveness. The factions themselves, are actually good to great. I find idoneth a lot more interesting than dark elves, or fyreslayers than whfb dwarfs. Basically every faction has an interesting hook, internal dilemmas and conflicts, different subthemes that can be explored, all that good stuff. But the biggest problem is connecting these factions into a larger setting, if that makes sense. While I think whfb's faction are in a vacuum less interesting than their AoS counterparts, they've done a very good job of making meaningful connections and interactions between the different factions, giving them history and geography that gives the whole world an extra level of character that the mortal realms lack imo. Like, you know how ogres were kind of just there after they were introduced in 6th? It kind of feels like every faction is like that in AoS. Just doing their own thing and occasionally interacting with the other factions, but usually with very little weight behind it. AoS has interesting factions stuck in an uninteresting world.perhaps this is just the natural consequence of the setting being designed as a moving narrative, instead of three decades of buildup explaining how we got to the "present day" of the setting like was the case for whfb and until recently 40k
>>98516738Yeah, but it's probably just gonna be half wiping out the Fyreslayers to justify them joining the Khazalid throng and then the world blows up and Chamon dies anyway. The whole setting reboot shit really puts a damper on lore discussions for now. We can't really talk about how promising the new setting is without seeing it.
>>98516741There's some truth in that. WHF and 40K were designed as settings with a rich history and a boring, static "present"AoS launched with effectively no history, so the history of the setting is really the history of the game itself as each edition becomes a new era. It's a completely different style of storytelling/world building which comes with it's own tradeoffs. Keeping up with setting developments becoming exhausting is definitely one of those trade offs.

>>98516557why do you faggots get so uptight about fantasy having better lore? who gives a shit, people play AOS mainly because the minis look good and its easy and fun to play which helps us get our friends and kids into the hobby. but fantasy has always been a gem if you were willing to invest the timefantasy lore is better because it was made by the creators with intense passion for the setting and everything was interconnected. the AOS creative team are corporate who are tasked with making lore fit minis, so its always going to have that shallow feeling most corporate settings have. case in point is star wars and warcraft. lucas had a very vibrant setting going when he was in charge, then it went to shit after disney bought it. warcraft lore was really good until it began its decline when blizzard went completely corporate with bobby kotick. its universal and it happened to warhammer.but like a typical retard, you try to make this out to be about quantity of books rather than the quality. fantasy has classics like gortrek and felix where AOS has characters that feel as if they were made in corporate committees (because they were).i imagine the guy you were talking to was barely containing his laughter as you tried to justify some fucking lore per year metric as proof AOS was following a trend line towards beating fantasy. you are no better than someone saying disney star wars is better because they produce more shows.
>>98516824>fantasy lore is better because it was made by the creators with intense passion for the setting and everything was interconnectedWell, except all the stuff that was old and got completely retconned or swapped up later on. I do think it's the case of needing to find the right people though, it's kind of like how like 99% of the 2 million 40k video games that have come out have been hot liquid shit, then Fantasy gets a couple games made by people who give a shit and are given relatively free reign and it basically brought back demand for Fantasy a whole.AOS needs something like that, Warcraft had schizos like Knaak make absolutely insane books but damn if they weren't entertaining. Then it melted down into just nothing but the same fucking Baine sucking Anduin's toes while Jaina sits in the corner cuck chair watching because Christie Golden could write the same 3 characters forever and HOLY SHIT FUCKING CHRISTIE GOLDEN.
>>98516824>was made by the creators with intense passionStealing from other better settings that would get you disowned by said creators like morcock isn’t exactly what I would call passionate.
>>98516824>why do you faggots get so uptight about fantasy having better lore?Because I have read fantasy lore, in depth and long before it got "popular" and so I'm extremely aware how overrated it is. I don't hate Fantasy, and I don't hate AoS. They both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to settings and lore.
Remember how Genevieve was 14 when she got turned and the author kept specifying how hot that was and how cool it'd be to fuck a legal 14 year old.

>>98516864Just to add to this, when I was reading Fantasy novels as a teenager who had only basic knowledge of the setting/game it seemed super creative and interesting. Revisiting a lot of those books as an adult who knows what all the units and shit are makes it a lot easier to recognize that a lot of the things I thought were creative and interesting were just written to shill models that already existed, same as it ever was.

What I mean by that is there is the skeleton portion (mortek) and the constructs (big lads). They're not mutually exclusive and it's more than likely there will be future releases with large constructs. Fuck, the game even used to support running a variety of different style of armies until 4e fucked subfactions. The shift of them away from an elite army is more caused by the absolute brainlet of a tomewriter that took the opportunity of writing the nighthaunt and obr tome to put them in timeout. Fuckin' wild that out of all the tomes in the game, only OBR gets penalized for running reinforced units. Even when the brainlet writer isn't trying to write a seethetome shits out something like helsmith.>>98515654I agree but they seem to be fine with their size given all the new releases maintain it. I wonder what kind of "big monster" type units OBR could get without stepping on the toes of tomb kings too much
>>98517681there's no stepping on tk because the aesthetics are too different, you don't think their archers step on the kangs' archers, or their chariots, or their monstrous infantry, or their bone giant, or their screaming skull catapultso I say ossiarch hydrelephant or a bigger Kali bone giant
>>98517749Eh, I meant specifically big monsters. First things I thought about were a big bone sphinx or scorpion, which surprise surprise kangs also have. But the elephant is a fun idea.
>>98517792OBR looks more like Roman-Chinese hybrid than Egyptian. Does it have to specifically be a monster? Something like a Trireme that floats on a wave of bones, feels more fitting for the militaristic aesthetic of OBR, or like a Trojan Horse made of bones.

Man I just wanted that soulslike CoS game, I don't even care if it were as crap as the OG Lords of the Fallen. Is Soulbound an actual good RPG system, especially for people who aren't well versed in the crunch of TTRPGs?I have a dnd 5e group that finished a campaign last month and we are currently pitching ideas about what to do next. I want to run a short AOS themed adventure (4 to 5 sessions) to get some players introduced to the setting.
>>98518677It's an even more simplified system than even DnD 5e using... I think it was three core stats? Sorry been awhile. If that's good or bad depends on your group.
>>98518732Simple is generally better for my group (6 players, 1 DM) as only 2 of us have any real experience with TTRPGs.I guess to make this easier to answer, is Soulbound worth switching over to to run an AOS game or am I better off sticking with 5e and homebrewing some stat blocks for encounters?
>>98518768I haven't messed with Soulbound much but it's a perfectly functional game by all accounts. No need to reinvent the wheel if you just want to run a short AoS campaign.
>>98518150I think it depends on where you're from, one could argue chinese or mesoamerican as a "death" aesthetic pretty easily. Mesoamerican would be pretty cool to send over to death and let Seraphon go for a more generalized ancient aliens aesthetic. (I'm a seraphon player tired of buying gold paints)

>>98517749OBR just needs to stop using bones to recreate real lifeforms I think. Like, creating horses to drag your chariot made of bones, that makes less sense and is less cool than a purpose-built war platform. The harvester is a great model for this reason. I found this conversion on reddit and while not amazing, the concept is just a lot better than "Chariot, but we made it out of bones!"They could really lean into some of the weirder bits, I'd love them to have da vinci tanks made out of bones for example
>>98519041The archers are another example. They at least did something fun with giving them the eyes on the right side, but IMO it'd be better if they were doing stuff like giving them a smaller bone golem they use as a launcher instead. Kinda like tyranids, which are the army they aesthetically resemble the most anyway
>>98518920I mean that would be pretty sick for khorne mortals to get away from the kharne aesthetic, Viking/Aztec pelt wearing lunatics feels like a no-brainer.

>>98517219>>98517511For Honor was such a kino and simple concept and it was executed well, but dragged down by all live service suffering alas, so I was always shocked there wasn't a myriad of copycats with the system since it was so good and didn't feel like it would be too complex to copy. An AOS one would be so sick. GW seems too damn shy to actually put the screws to a studio that can make an AOS game that will introduce people to the setting easily enough. Strategy games are niche inherently. Granted, for honor was a fighting game so it has a whole other niche, but, it had a good campaign and that helps too
