Hate to tell you this, but Wobbies split from Comstar in 1991. Also, that behavior was known forever. My dad used to show interviews with Osama saying death to America in his history class a decade before anything happened. 9/11 just made it where people couldn't ignore that anymore.

How do you guys combine aero with normal battletech in a way that works nicely? The BSP strikes seem more like magical spells than anything air related "I cast heavy strike, take 20 damage"

And any other game I've played which combines the two they either dominate the game or are completely irrelevant. I just can't seem to hit that middle ground.
What also doesn't help is that most of the time it ends up one side kills all the other sides aero, then is free to airstrike the board with it's remaining one or two planes.
>>
>>98511439
Oh I'm aware. But 9/11 definitely defined how both MWDA and The Jihad were written, same as how it affected every other military story in the 2000s and ruined country music.

>>98511440
Try out the air assets in the new Core book, I'm told they're a lot more fun and interactive than the old strikes.
>>
>>98511450
Tried the playtest, still ends up with the situation of one side having shot down the other sides aero and then striking with their remaining unit.

Also the BSP unit destruction roll system really sucks why couldn't they have just made them use alpha strike cards?
And did herb write them? Because LAMs are practically unusable in this system too.
>>
>>98511450
>But 9/11 definitely defined how both MWDA and The Jihad were written,
Agreed.

>ruined country music.
Pop and consumer "muh truck, muh boat" lyrics ruined country music.
>>
>>98511465
And those were introduced to country because of 9/11.

Before 9/11 country music was in many ways a counterculture movement, an expression of rural rebellion that hated authority, cops, commercialism, and the military that exploited America's rural working class for disposable lives. After 9/11, country was coopted by exactly these interests, leading to the Bud Light sponsored, army-glorifying, cop dick sucking nonsense that is 21st century country.

But this isn't /mu/, so no need to go further on that.

Buddy, the second or third iconic Canopus scene after the cyborg showgirls and maybe a glitzy shot of a vegas-style strip is the huddled mass of sick and dying poors living in an outflow pipe around back. They have a limited amount of private healthcare charity because they require nobles to earn their position and using a loan from mommy to fund a private hospital is one of the easiest ways for an existing nobles kid to "serve the state" enough to also be called a noble.

>>98502221I gave the new IA rules a 1 game test solo while at the same time trying out the full Core rules to get a handle on all the little changes + their mission ruleset. Decided on capture and control, 3v3 6kBV within scale 3. The mechs I chose all happen to almost be colored red and blue so I went ahead and made it kurita vs steiner.

>Kurita

>DRG-5K (Status Honored);WVR-7M;ZEU-9S;

>Steiner

>GRF-3M;BSW-S2;BLR-3M;

House Steiner was the attacking force, Kuritians on defense. Based on the chosen maps Kuritians positioned the WVR/DRG on the middle open ground to use the superior speed to flank and control the central point while the zeus held the high ground able to immediately contest the right most point. The left most point was originally suppose to be deep depth 3 in the lake, to avoid it being completely ignored I shifted it 1 hex over to a depth 1 hex.

Turn 1 Steiner forces marched in unison through the middle to open up tactical options, Kurita maneuvers into more defensible positions. a few potshots nothing else.

Turn 2 Both sides skirmishers continue to skirmish with some blows being traded, the BLR begins its march in an attempt to cross the bridge towards the right most point. A few more pot shots no serious damage.

Turn 3 Points are now active on controlled sectors. Wolverine jumps to block the bridge to buy more time to hold the right side. Griffin and BSW position themselves around the middle point to pound the WVR, DRG Decides to charge the BLR and does so successfully (Status honored yet again!), BLR stumbles into the WVR while they trade melee blows, no critical damage, no falls. 1:1 points
>>
2/2

>>98502221
>>98511594

Turn 4 WVR heavily damage retreats to cover, Zeus stands his ground, BLR approaches zeus to block point gain. Dragon backs up to reposition while BSW runs past the dragon up to the hill to get a clear view over the river, Griffin holds ground around central point to provide support fire. Zeus sustains crippling damage to engine, must withdraw. Dragon backshots BSW, penetrates his torso armor and hits the ammo, even with case, absolutely wrecked and destroyed. Status yet again honored! GRF tosses a potshot. Score is now 3 Steiner : 1 Kurita. Withdrawing units cannot count for point control and the BLR was within 1 hex of the right most point.

Turn 5 Zeus is overheating and retreating, WVR tries to use cover and keep pounding the BLR. DRG advances up to get a better shot, gets side shot from the griffin setting off the LRM ammo, he served faithfully. BLR finishes off the zeus with a PPC to the face, he is a total wreck. Score is now 5 Steiner ; 1 Kurita

At the start of turn 6 I ended the match with a mercy ending. Kurita has no path to victory with only 1 mech left and only 2 turns of scoring left.
Overall I still like it more then the CGL version, its shorter and more aggressive, though the kuritian forces had much better terrain I could of been more passive and probably decked out more damage but would be initially behind in points and desu that would be the boring path. I will admit the CGL version has a butt ton of knobs you can turn to add more randomness, but your version feels a lot more cleaner and straight to the point making it so much easier to start and play the match.

Its better then the old version I will say that. The only problem I ran into that stalled everything for like 15-20 minutes is Objective contesting. When you handed over some of the rulings to to the Core rulebook, one of them was how objectives are to be handled when multiple mechs are on a point. I thought I was losing my mind because I legit thought the rule was if an objective was contested, the one with higher total tonnage overrules. No that was a solid ruling that you made in 5.0 which is why it took me forever to find that ruling.

The default ruling on objectives from CGL kinda suck. Basically everything stalemates till all opposing mechs are crippled or fall just outside of the control radius
>>
Is it me or did the new core rules make clubs strictly better than hatchets?
Same damage, same to hit, same table, but a successful club attack causes a. PSR like a kick, and clubs weigh nothing and are free.

They aren't good guys at all, much the same way the Stoners aren't. That should be expected of clans, though. All clanners are worse than the worst Successor Lords. The bears talk about integrating but keep apart from the IS population in enclaves. They talk about family but ship cross-caste families to Vega. They talk about being true warriors but use simulators for warrior graduation instead of real mechs. They talk about being humanitarians but kill PoW's when convenient. The thing that really makes me hate the Ghost Bears though is two things. First, their bear rage never bites them in the ass. It carries them through in a berserker fury instead of off a cliff every fucking time. The second is their lethargy never bites them, either. You never have a quick raid or a quick war nip pieces off of them before they can spool up to full conflict.

On the positive end, they have a shit ton of neat toys including the most broken Warship and Dropship designs in the entire setting.

Alternatively, it could be considered as another split between the Joiner and Denier factions. The Dominion Civil War could have been a small dustup started by Alaric, but could lead to something worse for the faction over time.

Something something Ghost Bear is a family, and families can be very good at holding grudges and fighting after trust gets broken. And a Civil War is very good at breaking trust if reconciliation falls through.

>Why did you switch from radius 0 to 1?

>Why did you switch from scoring starting at turn 3?

Also I could recommend making the writing in C&C be consistent with KOTH, meaning instead of using the "Radius" terminology from the Core Rulebook in one entry and then not using it but describing it in another entry, maybe both should refer to the rulebook?

"Medium lasers on 6's"
>>
>>98512322
They were all white, but a lot of them are from different manufacturers and have different shades of white. Some of them were different sizes too. It's not ideal, but there also weren't things like LBX, the most clusters you were rolling at once was for SRMs
>>
>>98512351
I'm asking because people nowadays tend to throw many pairs of different colored dice so that they can resolve multiple attacks in one roll, or throw one color for the attack and the other color for the hit location/cluster table in case it hits. This is faster than rolling each attack one by one. So I was wondering if the standard way was doing it one by one back then
>>98512354
The different shades and sizes makes sense yeah
I can imagine things got complicated in the 90's with LBX's. I wonder when the first "box of death" was implemented

Anon, I am confused, is this not based and Monarchy-pilled?
>>
>>98512411
That was our thought too. We got some cheap plain tablecloths to mix it up when we feel the need.
>>
>>98512017
My understanding of where the Combine is currently is that Yori allowed the Kanrei to plunge headfirst into the middle of enemy territory, then decided that all of the reinforcement units she conjured into existence were fine just staying near Luthien. So her political rival and those loyal to him conveniently ceased to exist, the FedSuns are too exhausted by cleaning the invaders out to threaten a counter invasion of Combine space, and the Ghost Bears, after punching themselves in the balls over Alaric, are about to confidently stroll into a war with Yori's fresh army.
>>
>>98512521
The problem is when you roll more than a single set of attack per dice, there becomes a need for a 'reading order' to prevent dice being paired together favorably accidentally or intentionally.

Consider 4 dice and you're rolling for 8s. If you rolled two 1s and two 6s. If all 4 dice are identical you could combine the dice in a variety of different ways, but the only way you get a hit is by having the two 6s together. Unambiguous reading of which dice go together is needed to prevent players from angle-shooting or accidentally altering the probabilities.

Put differently, multiple simultaneous resolutions make sense only when you have a different color for each d6 or can keep them in separate partitions like in a box-of-death. In warhammer buckets of dice work because hit, save and wound rolls are all a single die.
>>
Hammerhead 2 seems like a really good close range mech. Is it totally fucked in BV cost?
>>
>>98511450
Oh, you sweet summer child. Garth Brooks ruined country music long before 9/11; all 9/11 did was inject blind jingoism into a swirling bowl of corpo dogshit.
>>
>>98512670
You misunderstand me. I'm talking about using multiple different coloured pairs of dice, therefore keeping it abundantly clear which die belongs to which pair. But this does allow you to roll multiple attacks simultaneously.
>>
>>98513125
Oh yeah in that case you're cool. Mb. Just so long as all of them are unique and there's no mix up on which one is for which weapon. I have dice for walk/run/jump/sprint, so I usually will try to roll 4 weapons at a time with a pair of each if I can.
>>
I'm not sure if this is the right way, but surely if BSP assets are a fun way to play combined arms, they'd hold up standing alone right? For my next game I'll, try and convince a friend to play BSP only Vs BSP only. This is probably going to suck

Stacking ability for transport. d6s all naturally want to stack and you can get both a variety of options and at least a decent probability curve using 2 of them.

When you stack d8s you end up with an awkward zig-zag pattern and setting up multiple stacks side-by-side doesn't look too good and the same happens with d10s. d12 is the next stage where you hit good stacking ability, even if still lesser, but that's just a multiple of six. You have to hit d20 in order to get something that stacks good on a different axis.

>>
>>98515072
I haven't seen a lot of 15 ton infantry bays.
>>
>>98515072
>>98515131
The rules for fighting infantry are slow and sucky. You either aren't built to fight them and so you have to pick them off like ticks with your guns in a ridiculous display of single target overkill damage, or you have an emotional support weapon and get to waddle over and gently rub them out with machinegun fire while being cherry tapped in return, or you take one of the "kill all infantry now" options and commit genocide immediately. It's too swingy. Battletech is bad about counter-picks and infantry are just one of the more slow and dull versions of it.

Dunno about how support assets handle them but it's probably better.
>>
>>98515167
>>98515131
Things should be reworked so a battle between Mechs and Infantry is heavily in a Mech 's favor. You should unironically feel like a god squishing ants, taking out a Mech with infantry should feel like a miracle. The mechanics should be used to prop up what the setting should feel like, not arbitrarily 'balanced' to be a slow, boring slog.
>>
>>98515167
The issue was identified literally decades ago. The issue is that infantry fight to the last man 100% of the time on the tabletop. Meanwhile, as a general rule, any post-1945 infantry which takes more than 30% casualties in a single engagement is going to break and run 90-95% of the time. They might well reform and rejoin the operation, but that takes time, and that time doesn't exist on the Battletech tabletop. Infantry were given the survivability and firepower to better represent their IRL capabilities, without suffering any of the IRL weaknesses.

Make infantry start coming apart when they're hit with Mech grade weaponry, or suffer casualties from Mech physical attacks, and infantry will get fixed pretty much immediately. The fact that not only are morale rules locked in TacOps but that they're insanely badly written so that green infantry is only fleeing if they've taken 50%+ casualties on a 10+ roll, is a fucking joke. On the fiction, infantry who take Mech grade weapon casualities fucking RUN AWAY. They should on the tabletop as well.
>>
>>98515397
Currently forced withdrawal is set at 25% or less remaining. This I think is also partially set such that battlearmor doesn't immediately turn tail as soon as a single one goes down.

Though the timing argument might also be used for the lower number. A battletech game of 12 rounds is only two minutes. How long does it take for your unit, after getting hit to take stock of the situation, patch up wounded troops, and arrange for evacuation of the non-mobile wounded? Patching up light wounds alone can easily take multiple minutes
>>
>>98515397
>any post-1945 infantry which takes more than 30% casualties in a single engagement is going to break and run 90-95% of the time.
they become combat-ineffective at 25% casualties, but they would still be a cohesive fighting force and would certainly conduct a fighting retreat rather than rout, which every commander would simply excarbate casualties

we already see this occur in tactical games where unit damage is tied to unit HP
damaged units are simply withheld from combat and are conserved to deny the enemy a kill
>>
>>98515397
I don't mind BA being special boys, but at the very least any infantry without anti-mech training caught outside of cover should be packing up and leaving immediately.
>>
>>98515397
Infantry hardly need to be nerfed, and if anything their damage should be buffed. The issue is tedium in killing them which could probably be fixed by making all mech scale weapons do at least 1d3 damage. Autocannons are canonically burst weapons, so an AC/20 could probably kill 1d6 pretty reasonably and a huge 185mm shell or PPC shot should impact with enough force and cause enough surrounding damage to kill or cripple men.

On the other hand infantry weapons, especially crew served weapons should be buffed. Make getting ambushed by infantry a big threat. Mechs walking through a forest or city unsupported should be under threat of someone just blasting them apart up close.
>>
>>98515397
What's the point in running away when they move 1-3 hexes? Battletech is not real life.
>>
>>98515762
>The issue is tedium in killing them which could probably be fixed by making all mech scale weapons do at least 1d3 damage.
I think it should be something related to the density of the platoon in the tile for the more generic weapons that don't have rules for Anti-Infantry like Machine Guns and Pulse Weapons having various d6s.

Maybe do it as a damage cap, using something like "Living Troops/6, rounded to nearest whole number (min. 1)". So an AC5 shooting at a 30 man force can kill 5, while an AC5 shooting at a 12 man force can only kill 2 because they are less clustered together or similar.
>>

Aside from the fact you would end up more expensive with less ammo and less armor you'd run out of crits?
>>98514451
This is a Nod affiliated board GDI scum!
>>
>>98515894
Perhaps, I'd still caution against going too high in damage and making it a fraction means that most equations would result in them being way too lethal, if an AC/5 kills 5 from a full strength platoon would an AC/20 with no specialist ammo wipe out 3/4ths of a platoon? Also there's the issue of it invalidating cluster munitions which don't consider troop density. I'd say for autocannons absolute max damage should be probably the same as the autocannon's damage, ideally half except for the AC/2. Personally to prevent weird relationships or pointless math I'd probably do something like

>Autocannons (about 75%-30% of gun's anti-mech damage)
3d3, 1d6, 1d3, and 1d2 for AC/20s, 10s, 5s, and 2s respectively
>Everything else (barring VSPs, pulses, flamers, and small/micro lasers that already have specific infantry rules)
8-15 damage 1d3
16+ damage 1d6
7 or less damage get fucked if you want to kill infantry downgrade your clan ER medium to a small laser

Even a king crab isn't some infantry killing machine but it's far less helpless and can reasonably expect with two hits to kill off a third of the unit with its autocannons.
>>
>>98515894
That's more complex than the divisor and multiplier for being in the open. I don't see the benefit.

>>98515762
I like this. Because right now it's almost a flowchart of "do you have burst weapons? Are you slow? If yes to both stay away."

I think mechanized platoons should be restricted to field guns. What I really hate about infantry is how tied the platoon construction is to RPG stats and how the damage and range are calculated, with infantry LRMs magically making your 1/2/3 autorifles hit out to 6 hexes and those autorifles magically making your LRMs hit harder.

C-bill costs are borked, but who cares. C-bills haven't mattered since XL engines.

>>98515980
I wouldn't even make ACs an exception because they can load frag or LB cluster.
>>
>>98515995
I said LRMs when I meant to say SRMs, but it becomes even more absurd with LRMs making your rifles hit out to 9 hexes and the rifles making the LRMs hit harder.
>>
>>98515995
Only reason I'd argue for ACs getting more damage is because they're explicitly burst fire weapons in the lore and it's not like they're generally a competitive option like large lasers and PPCs. Either way I wouldn't complain if they got the same rules as everyone else.

As for weapon damage I think the RPG weapon focus brings it down a lot with pointless fractional damage. At the end of the day 1/2/3 doing 0.54 damage isn't meaningfully different than 1/2/4 doing 0.45 damage. Just say all basic infantry weapons do 0.5 damage and have 1/2/3 range.
>>
>>98511775
>How bad are they really, behind the 'good guys' mask they're wearing?
Mostly it depends who writes them and how.
On one hand as other anons mentioned that Bears, just like Yiffs can get away with nearly everything which would bite other Clan in the ass, from touman remaining dormant for decade but still maintainning their combat capabilities, to direct breaking from zellbringen, including murdering civilian castes and Nova Cat sibkos.
But Dominion Divide (along with some novels, like Trial by Chaos) gave a good insight on how well their integration with spheroid population went (plot twist: poorly)
Half of their civilian population became huge clanboos including their political leadership (Rasalhagian half). Most violent groups of Joiners weren't even warrior caste, they've been washouts or children/grandchildren of the warriors washouts
>>
>>98516115
>gave a good insight on how well their integration with spheroid population went (plot twist: poorly)
And yet they suffered no consequences for this. The Combine has faced more rebellion from its spheroid population since the clan invasion than the bears have.
>>
>>98516113
> I think the RPG weapon focus brings it down a lot with pointless fractional damage
Agreed. Nowhere else does it matter what brand machine gun you use, but using certain laser rifles like as your support weapon like the Mauser 960 can give you more damage than SRMs and let you run faster.

I would personally like to separate out primary and support weapon damage. At least initially (it would be nice for there to be reason to pick gyrojet and flechette rifles, but that's secondary), auto rifles can do .5 damage per man to 1/2/3 and degrade with the platoon, laser rifles do 1/3 to 1/4 damage per man and hit 2/4/6 (or less since they're now part of that weird fractional averaging formula and separate from support weapons).

Support weapons operate on their range band as their own attack and do foo points out to their range, and I guess degrade as squads gets pipped. Maybe they do 5 point clusters to reduce the amount of time it takes to resolve. I'll admit, there is a certain elegance to averaging it out and it gets treated as one single cluster attack; but the way you get there is quite unintuitive and trivially broken.
>>
>>98516174
I suspect that when Infantry get redone as part of the conventional forces book, the RPG weapons thing will be first on the chopping block in favor of broad categories.
>>
>>98516174
Honestly for support weapons I'd just make them normal mech scale style weapons. A support laser is just a medium laser, a support LRM 5 is just an LRM 5. In essence I'd treat infantry platoons kind of like battlemechs and vehicles.

>Infantry platoon has 30 dudes with autorifles
>Infantry platoon has two LRM 5s each crewed by 4 people (I forget what the crew of an LRM 5 is)
>When shooting they make one shot with each LRM 5 and a single shot with all their autorifles which does 22/2 damage (LRM crew is too busy loading, aiming, moving, and firing LRM to shoot rifles) in 1 damage clusters
>No penalty for multiple targets because it's not one dude trying to track and engage multiple separate targets
>>
>>98516245
>>Infantry platoon has two LRM 5s each crewed by 4 people (I forget what the crew of an LRM 5 is)
Those would be field guns imo. I'm content with infantry SRMs staying 2/4/6 and infantry LRMs staying 3/6/9.
>>
>>98516307
Eh maybe. I don't see why infantry can't have relatively light long range weapons. Modern infantry have ATGMs that can hit tanks out to or beyond the max range of tank guns. Personally I like the idea of an SRM/LRM 1 that's essentially a man portable ATGM, full range and damage of an SRM or LRM but with only one dedicated gunner. Part of my complaints are that infantry are pretty weak, even in a city you have to be a retard to get merc'd by infantry as they currently exist. In essence

>Infantry damage goes up
>Infantry survivability goes down

I think actual infantry weapons should do very little against mechs, but they should have some relatively powerful support and crew served weapons to make them a real threat.
>>
>>98515980
>if an AC/5 kills 5 from a full strength platoon would an AC/20 with no specialist ammo wipe out 3/4ths of a platoon?
Reread the suggestion. The damage cap is the remaining Infantry alive/6, not raw damage.

So an AC/2 would deal 2 damage to a 30 man, and the AC/5 deals the max of 5 damage to a 30 infantry platoon, but an AC/20 would also only deal 5 damage to a 30 infantry platoon.

You are right with Cluster munitions being invalidated, so probably make a reference for them like is done with Machine Guns, Pulse Weapons, etc that have specific infantry rules.
>>
>>98516322
I would like to see them work more like battle armor where you instead build squads like you build BA troopers. Yes, squads would make more sense rather than having 56 guys clown car into a heavy APC, but they're unergonomic to deal with and would involve big changes to the leg and swarm attack rules. Support weapon crews take from the rifle strength; there's no .6 multiplier or whatever it is.

We abstract and use cluster hit table as normal. Support weapons make their own attack and degrade as squads are eliminated instead of men. And then we consolidate all the RPG weapons into a handful of classes.

>>
>>98516333
>Reread the suggestion. The damage cap is the remaining Infantry alive/6, not raw damage.
Sure but if an AC/5 does that much how much damage would an AC/10 do, an AC/20? Does an AC/10 do squad/3 so it's dropping ten men from full strength? Does an AC/20 do squad/2 so it's wiping out half the platoon reliably?

Buffing their damage isn't going to help the tedium. When you run up with a Locust and send half of them to the shadow realm, they still shoot back with an SRM-5~ equivalent and hit on a 7 or 8 since they never have AMM. It's not possible for most anti-infantry weapons to hit them and not be hit back until the invention of plasma rifles. I guess if you have a ton of ammo to spare you can load flechettes or frag missiles, but that's a hefty gun you're not shooting at more mobile threats.

The Ogre's fluff includes a description of them tearing tanks apart with their huge battle claws, but it's actually mechanically impossible for them to do anything to a tank except shoot it with SRMs. BA really need expanded rules for swarming things that aren't mechs, and more use cases for different types and amounts of battle claws. >but an AC/20 would also only deal 5 damage to a 30 infantry platoon.
Are you a victim of Three Cue learning? You seem to be reading something that I am not saying at all.

I have repeatedly been saying that the maximum damage you can do is the number of infantry alive in a unit divided by six (rounded, min. 1), if there are not special rules for a weapon.

10 men could only suffer 2 damage from a single shot no matter how far above 2 you go. The only other option is 1 damage if a weapon deals 1.

30 men can only suffer maximum of 5 under this idea. An AC/10, an AC/20, a PPC, doesn't matter. It's maximum five per hit. The stuff that would not be doing 5 is stuff that does less damage than 5. Not any weapon that does more.

Because the only things I'm seeing when looking up what the hell you are talking about is Forever War being a full hivemind but remaining individual sexes, and Forever Peace just having general empathy sharing. As well as a movie named Robot Jox, which doesn't seem to have anything you are mentioning?

Like this clearly sounds like prime "made on drugs" material that is at least interesting to marvel at (especially to see how 'from out of nowhere' it comes up), but kinda hard to find it to be able to do that.

Well, you have to understand that, in terms of critical thinking, analysis, and mathematical ability, the 12 year olds of the 1980s are equivalent to 30 year olds in 2026. That's the whole reason that Alpha Strike was written; to better service the majority of customers who aren't capable of critical thinking or simple math. It's a deliberately and intentionally dumbed down version of the game to that retards have something to play.

>bitching about infantry
Hot take. Infantry small arms should do 0 damage to anything aside from other infantry and maybe battle armor and unless you are actual rural militia tier every platoon should have some kind of support weapon that defines its roll and thier anti mech rating mostly represents how many close range anti armor weapons they have.
In prepared positions they should basically be unmovable by enemy fire without specialized ammo and require assault by mg/flamer equipped mechs and battle armor or other infantry to do big damage and force them to retreat.

The current rules for infantry in the open are mostly fine.
>>
>>98518948
Infantry rules represent them using under barrel grenade launchers with AP grenades to damage armor
>>
>>98519010
Infantry rules tell you exactly what weapons they have down to the brand name and most of those weapons have no such attachments.
>>
>>98518810
I think the Aurigans would have been fine if they were a new Jihad to Dark Ages state instead of pre-dating and concurrent with the Succession Wars.
Just feels like ti makes more sense with how they are presented combined with how everyone around was acting like at the time.
Additionally, people drawn in would more focus on those eras and grogs can ignore it easier so their bitching is just part of the ol' "Post-Succession War bad" noise.

>>
>>98519080
I think the Aurigans were fine. Minor Periphery states are supposed to come and go, and that's what they did. Their civil war destroyed anything good they had, their ideological struggle against a militant central authority ended in them becoming a militant central authority, and was in reality just a proxy war between two other states who ultimately proved indifferent to their suffering or ultimate fate. All of that is perfectly inline with the setting. What people seem to fixate on is the stuff from the game that is non-canon and is just there for game reasons.
>>
>>98519120
I don't like them because of where they put them. They say it's because nothing goes on there, but it's a major wedge where things do go on later, and all that later lore in that area obviously doesn't mention Aurigans in any way. If they had put them up on the other side of the Taurians (where there is a big swathe of legitimate nothing before you hit Randis and Tortuga), or even on the other side of the Canopians (where there's already a bunch of do-nothing nobodies and the Marians) it would have been better.
>>
>>98519120
They put them in a shit area when the whole campaign would have worked better on the other side of the Taurians. Also their moral whinging when the dracs alone make the enemy PoW camps look like a holiday resort.

It would be nice if games about picking sides gave you the option to pick sides. Could be fun to for example have a game set in the fedcom civil war where you would be hired by Victor and just side with the Lyrans.
>>
>>98519230
Then they'd have to make two games out of one, doubling the time and cost of production. It's why in Star Wars games even if you start Imperial you wind up being a Rebel anyway, even if you never desired such.
>>
>>98519230
It's strange because previous MechWarrior games did have choice options and even different endings but HBS despite being an RPG did not for some reason
>>
>>98519215
What about the Directorate did you like so much that you wanted to side with them? They didn't have any real characterization beyond "designated bad guy" stuff. You can't even say you prefer Taurian proxies over Canopian proxies since the Directorate false-flagged the Taurians to get their support, then dramatically lost that support when they were found out. The King Crab girl was interesting as a character, but not enough to make me give a shit about the faction.
For the record I'm not really attached to the Aurigans, either. Both sides just seemed like a super generic dynastic struggle where one side was less into the idea war crimes than the other.

Clearly they weren't, and clearly they didn't. The Aranos were winning the war with Magistracy help, and the player's actions are special ops. I think that the biggest impact the player has is being the ones who prevent the Star League cache from falling into Directorate hands. It's been a minute since I played it so I could be misremembering, but I recall most of the mission briefings being like, "our main army is busy doing a big fight, so we need you to do this side thing so we don't have to reassign our own guys."

I like it. It keeps the general feel and shape of the goofy original but doesn't look so much like a G.I. Joe toy. There are some aesthetic choices I would have done differently, but as I'm neither the designer of the model nor the target audience, that's a small nit to pick. Good work anon.

NTA for both of you, but if I recall correctly, which I might not either, but the game never tells you what actually happened. It's kept vague.
The Taurians could have been telling the truth and Arano just attacked and murdered innocent civilians from an uninvolved foreign power. The Taurians could have also been lying and it really was a black ops shit and Arano's intel was on point. We don't know, which I think was the entire point. What do you do in such a situation in which there's 2 stories you're being told and they both paint themselves as innocent and the other as evil? It didn't strike me as a truth being somewhere in between the 2, but impossible to tell which one was true.

Clan tank design is deliberately, gloriously retarded and I love it.
They got their asses kicked by combined arms so knew that tanks were a thing but their arrogant asses felt they had to do it in their own clan-like way, combined with being too obstinate about mechs and their cult of mech worship to put their better designers who understand how shit works on it.

Leave tanks that look just about workable to the IS, all the best clan tanks should look like someone went out of their way to fuck up a good idea, or strapped way too many guns and missile tubes to a brick because that was about all they could think of.
Their hovers are about the closest thing to passably normal and that's only because they couldn't fuck up the motive system at the base of it in the same way as wheels or tracks to the same degree, and they would have if they could out of spite for having to make a combat vehicle instead of yet another mech.

They lost because they have a stupid honor system that they don't actually understand and spent an entire war having the football pulled away from them like charlie brown.
Any other take flies in the face of the writing, they absolutely rolled across the galaxy and only suffered setbacks because they literally just kept agreeing to honor duels and then the other guys put a light stick of dynamite in their mouth and it blew up and they shake their fist and say "consarn it!". BA are better support than most conventionals and they had great logistics. They were just dumb.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything, this is a genuine question in good faith.
How do battlemechs handle fighter planes adjacent to what we use in our era?
Do lore mechs have ranges that can compete with a fighter plane using radar guided missiles? Or are they just deployed after the enemy has lost air superiority?
I take it an equivalent figher plane probably fields an extremely limited amount of LRMs and can't effectively threaten a mech with their cannons.
>>
>>98520106
Small yappy dog energy.
>>
>>98521097
All the weapons mounted on any kind of vehicle abruptly get much longer range when they are shooting at aircraft. Don't think about it too hard.

Jet aircraft are referred to as conventional aircraft, and occupy a similar space in relation to Aerospace fighters as conventional vehicles, except even more nerfed. They universally have a very low amount of armor.
>>
>>98521097
>Do lore mechs have ranges that can compete with a fighter plane using radar guided missiles
Yes. The ground combat uses abstracted super-short ranges and aircraft and space uses slightly less abstracted long ranges, so you can see the exact same weapons suddenly reach out much further.

Aircraft and mechs use mostly the same tech in much the same way with the main difference that mechs are basically zombies that can just keep getting repaired over and over, but if an aircraft gets shot down it fragments into a billion pieces when it hits the dirt. Thus, mechs have a real habit of sticking around for the long haul while aircraft do a whole lot of damage and then suddenly stop being existent. Otherwise they're very similar and occasionally, they're the same thing.

Regarding clan invasion: What year did the IS forces start fielding salvaged omnis? Because if I go by the faction availability in MekBay, MadCat salvage only started appearing in IS forces until...3068 when Jihad started? Well, excluding Goons of course.

That seems a bit exaggerated. Is it just one of those corner cases that the MUL isn't great at? What year could a IS force feasibly field a single salvaged Clan omni witthout getting raised eyebrows?
>>
>>98521097

Same thing with salvaged second line Mechs (not-omnis) ?
What about reverse engineering clan weaponry for use in IS mechs ?

Is the justification that even if a clanner was defeated, IS defenders just didn't have time to claim their prize because more clanners would descend on them? Or the tech being too advanced for them?
>>
>>98521338
Also—how come there wasn't salvage from Tukayyid?
>>
>>98521286
If MekBay uses the MUL, then Faction Availability isn't Salvage. That's moreso when they are produced or otherwise purchased to be a standard unit, or when a Unique unit (defined as 12 or less exist) is present.

Anything can be taken as salvage if its available, just like running stuff past the date its officially extinct.

You can do whatever both players are fine with in a game incluidng completely ignoring MUL. Though a general rule of thumb I have is for House or Clan (Salvage being 'Mech won through Trials for them) forces:
>1 Salvage Mechs up to 2 Lances/Stars
>2 Salvage Mechs up to 4 Lances/Stars
>3 Salvage Mechs up to 6 Lances/Stars
>etc
With Mercenary, Pirate, or similar, poorer forces going to 1 per Lance.

This puts the Salvage/Won in Trial 'Mech maximum right around:
>Clans: 10%
>House: 12.5%
>Merc/Pirate/etc: 25%
With a slight spike in some individual games for Clans/Houses that's moreso just an overrepresented particular piece of their force instead of the broader actual force.

Salvage from Tukayyid would go 100% to Comstar, who aren't super big on using stuff they can't source and replace regularly. iirc, they used most of it to make a special opfor division that pretend to be clanners for training other comguard. Even the Blakists only had some units that used clantech and faction-specific units from the rest of the IS, often as a psych trick (our enemy is deploying lances and stars in a variety of liveries, who the fuck are we fighting?) or for false flags.
>>
>>98521341
There was. It formed the basis for the ComStar version of the Battle Cobra and Invader Galaxy to help train the 2nd SLDF for Serpent.

How to tell me you've not read the Periphery sourcebooks without telling me you've not read the Periphery sourcebooks.

Its legit the one area they established and made a big song and dance about why there was nobody officially controlling said worlds. In reality those worlds were already noted as containing outposts of the Taurians and Magistracy through the 2900s and early 3000s. Anyone setting up their new faction between either of these parties would have put themselves inevitably in direct conflict with one if not both of the largest Periphery powers who would never be abandoning such worlds without a fight. HBS can write their fan fiction faction all they want, doesn't detract everything they inserted about the Aurigans was dumb and at complete odds with the nature of the region they were in.

Hmm. Okay, so maybe it uses the MUL + something else? Because it makes the availability be three categories: Requisition, Salvage, and Unknown. Pic related shows that Word of Blake had both Requisition and Salvage for Mad Cat Prime at Very Rare during the Jihad.

There were raids throughout the 3050s where legit the IS tactic was to blow off an arm of a Clan mech, yoink it, then run as fast as they can back to the dropship.
>>
>>98521381
Amazing that they managed to concentrate fire long enough on a single arm before getting blown to little bits

Must have been hugely embarrassing for the clanners
>>
>>98521129
>exact same weapons suddenly reach out much further
So lorewise, something like ACs, LRMs and ER Lasers can just shoot at the horizon and down the spec of a fighter jet? I'm not complaining or anything, but that does sound pretty cool.
>>
>>98521384
Wee bit exaggerated but not far off the mark. IS raids during 3050s were focused on smash and grab where they would run in and take what they can. Even if they lost a few mechs the chance to grab few Clan weapons was worth it. This a Clan ER PPC would get you a brand new assault mech with what Houses were paying for it at the time. TRO 3055 for IS really should just be called The Clanner Job as everything seems tailored made for a heist movie.
>>
More Clan Invasion questions: Are there stories about captured Clanners who weren't explicitly mech pilots? People like mech techs or otherwise fulfilling non-combat roles? Kind of curious about how IS would treat them. Would they attempt suicide if escape was deemed impossible? Would Clanners make attempts at rescuing them or leave them for dead?
>>
>>98521412
You've given me some ideas for when I do games managed by game master, thanks. I'd like to run a match where the Clanners don't know what the hell IS' objective is and they get a fake out (they didn't want X, they actually wanted my arm!)
>>
>>98521424
Female clanner elementals that had the unfortunate fate of getting captured alive had a terrible life ahead of them. Their superior genetics and implants were no match to the horrible tortures that the IS forces had in store for them...
Horrible really
A true tragedy
Even when they were freed it was too embarrassing to go back home...
>>
>>98521429
I think I remember a small short blurb about an IS pilot who was part of a raid against some Ghost Bears and while they were busy loading cargo the Clanners showed up so to distract them he challenged them to a batchall. When the Clanners agreed and they were about to start the duel he turned around and legged it which pissed off the Clanners and they gave chase. You could really have fun with the IS shenanigans during the mid 3050s.

I want you to get a sense of the amount of space that everything in BT's story covers. It's nothing. The whole IS is a tiny dot, and even including the Periphery that's still a tiny dot.

Could there still be sentient aliens in BT? Yes. Have they been part of canon? No, but some writers have had fun with the idea by making it so that ships get lost in jumps and end up waaaay out in space with no way to get back. This is a good way of playing around with goofy shit like adding AU stuff— https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Welcome_to_the_Nebula_California

Okay here's some questions for you fags
>What's your favourite Great House?
>What's your favourite Clan?
>What's your favourite Periphery faction?
>Whose your favourite canon character?
>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?

>Kurita
Designated villains who probably would have won thrice over if they weren't doing shit like Kentares or abandoning half their army to die on the regular. Pretty fun.
>Star Adders
As boring as le pragmatic clan may be their signature mechs look cool and the name N'Buta makes me chuckle. Vipers come in second for being based retards though.
>Taurians
I can sympathize with hating the inner sphere and they're one of the few factions that wants to or does colonize new worlds with the Fronc Reaches for example.
>Grayson Carlyle
There's lots of Mary Sues but Grayson strikes me as the embodiment of what a competent merc campaign should look like. Takes a small battered force, turns it into a competent fighting force, saves the inner sphere from centuries of technological decline, and humbled the clans while not being named Jaime Wolf.
>Phoenix Hawk IIC
I like the shoulder canons and the humanoid, somewhat sleek somewhat jagged gundam look. Plus high mobility assault mechs are a cool concept to me.
>>
>>98520343
I didn't realize a book had been written about the HBS BT campaign. I liked it better when I didn't have an actual answer. So many hack writers out there don't understand the power in leaving certain things open-ended.
>>98520352
It's my own fault really. I started to just examine the story as it was being presented and forgot the personal character of the writers. They made it very clear what their concerns were in the story and it had nothing to do with creating compelling characters or an interesting plot. The important thing was to make sure there were lots of women and minority characters. They made them all obnoxious and insufferable in the process, but hey, they're there. They exist.
Darius is a black man who is a complete retard and the worst intel officer of all time, to the point of telling you to expect an enemy ambush 2 turns after you're already fighting it.
Surmire is just a bitchy cunt that makes a snarky obnoxious comment whenever she opens her mouth.
Farah is a fat muslim redditior. Enough said.
That was always where their priorities lay.
>>
>>98521424
>Would Clanners make attempts at rescuing them or leave them for dead?
It's Clanners. To a Clan warrior, being take captive by the IS is a classic case of monkey's paw. On the one hand, they'll rapidly shuffle you back into frontline combat, but on the other you're shit outta luck and are permanently out of the breeding program.

Abducting lower caste members into the IS, those are just numbers. They'll either order replacements from the Home Worlds or grab some from other Clans during raids.

Aliens? There's a good lot of alien wildlife and plants to be found.

Sentient Aliens? There's a couple alien species that have some spears and early Stone Age stuff but don't seem to have undergone a cognitive revolution in order to develop into even the most basic forms of civilization above maybe a tribe.

Sapient Aliens? The only book (Far Country) where this has happened was with is dubiously canon in that it may be a book in-universe or is oherwise in an area of the universe that is so far away you could only get there via a titanic misjump that officially can't be replicated. And even those guys were late stone age starting to poke around with agriculture and metals.

Advanced Aliens? None known. Might be some canonical rumors and myths floating around, but that's it.

Andre the Giant was a big dude, but he's not the best reference for how people would sound because there were people just as tall or taller than him even without the genetic conditions that were fucking him up and pushed him to his height. They had to specifically choose where he was going and who he was fighting or otherwise next to in order to keep up the illusion.

For instance, the average - not maximum - height of a Center in Basketball is about 6'11" and Shaq at 7'1" is only 3 inches shorter than Andre's 7'4".

Hell, the Elementals are about 2-2.5 meters tall, which is about 6'5" to 8'2". And here's a video of a woman just slightly below the middle of those two heights who I found within moments of a youtube search:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZYvkVawp6o

That girl isn't as muscular as an elemental gets, but her voice is only somewhat affected by her height. At most, you'd be looking at a woman who's got the seductress/dominatrix stereotype as standard rather than something deeper or harder to understand than Andre.

Steiner. Was thinking of getting back into 40k with the Imperial Fists. Saw what was happening with the lore (primaris etc) and noped out. Decided to give battletech a look and the Steiner logo seemed like fate calling to me. Plus I like the idea of incompetent social Generals.

Speaking of useless cumbuckets, is there any canon artwork of Mauve Wolf anywhere? I finished Wolf Pack over the weekend, and I'm curious. >out that they were just paranoid spergs who ruined everything for themselves for no reason.
>Like, it'd be cool if that was why people like them,

See, thats exactly why I like them. I love their 'never say die, make them pay in oceans of blood for every inch' attitude and think its great. But I also realize that they are (to a point, justifiably) paranoid spergs who have ruined everything, and that mentality has continually actually helped to erode their nation as a whole rather than allowing for growth.

But I also realize I'm something of a minority as to why I like them. I've got Fedsuns, Taurian, FWL and MRBC banners hanging in my office, They're all great in their own way, but none of them are perfect or 'the best' for a variety of reasons, they've all got a variety of terrible flaws and those combined with strengths make factions interesting.
>>
>>98521620
>Great House:
Ah shit, I dunno. Either the Fedsuns or FWL. I hate the DC and their literal 'no consequences' existence. (Theodore Kurita was pretty cool though, enjoyed that story) The Cappellans... I like their scrappy defence but the upper leadership and aesthetic kills it for me. Never been a fan of the Lyrans. Don't hate them, don't like them. I think the FWL is interesting as hell except they sort of exist just to get shit on which is probably why I like them.
>Clan
Its a 3 way tie between Ghost Bears (less so these days) Hells Horses/Stone Lions and Star Adders. But Clanners are retarded so its trying to pick the best of a class of down syndrome people.
>Periphery
Probably the Taurians. I like that whole south-eastern region of space and the shit-show that it turned into.

Galen Cox. I found his whole story interesting and it was refreshing to see a character that was competent, but still fallible while going through trials and tribulations that the spotlight was never on. And he seemed like a bro that helped VSD grow as a character too.

IIRC the highest is Galaxy Commander, Khans are an elected office/challenged by those of eligible station. This also isn't accounting for the fact that for a trial of position, you have to do it all *while* in the same damaged 'mech, along with some clans (read: Smoke Jaguar) rigging your trial to end once you think you can take on more than a star commander rank. And...Y'know. Having to deal with dozens of trials of grievances since you just deposed the last Khan and now his buttbuddies want a turn at turning you to slag.
>TL;DR: It's possible, but with so many things going up against you you're guaranteed to be hosed out the cockpit than to challenge the Khan
>>
>>98524827
In its more lore accurate incarnation a Trial of Position involves 6 warriors and 2 cadets, meaning the theoretical highest amount of takedowns an aspirant could aim for is 7; taking out his three assigned warriors and the three of the other cadet as well as the other cadet after a melee has been triggered.

Practically, the number of Trials of Positions exceeding 4 confirmed takedowns can be counted on one hand if you were missing a finger or two. In those cases, the rank of Star Colonel can be awarded.

Kai Allard-Liao famously defeated 5 opponents in a mock Trial of Position; but that really doesn't count.

Master Unit List generalizes a lot. There were a ton of Clan-Front units that used a ton of solid Clan-Tech they were able to salvage off the front. Note that being sent there was a total meatgrinder, so don't expect to come back in one piece. ComStar and Kurita got the lionshare of tech due to Tukayyid & Wolcott/Luthien, with elite black ops dudes probably running 1 or 2 Clan 'mechs post-3052, until 3058 when BULLDOG/SERPENT commenced.

As for the earliest point in time that the Inner Sphere builds Omnimechs... The Raptor was the first IS Omni made from salvage from the Draconis Combine. It's partially why the Dracs become such big powerhouses later on in the timeline! They had so much salvage from Luthien that they entered a technological rennaissance. If you want some of their early omni-mechs, try the Raptor, Owens, Avatar, and Sunder.

The Federated Commonwealth took a different approach, with any and all clantech basically getting scuttled over to the NAIS so it could be reverse engineered. It's how we got the Bushwacker and Inner Sphere Battle Armor in 3052/53.

By the late 3060s, the eggheads on Luthien/The NAIS were making some seriously cool toys to rival even Clantech (See RACs, Heavy/Snub-Nose PPCs) and there was even a service on Outreach called "Battle Magic" that were fill-in mercs who moonlighted as inventors. They made the MML after tinkering with how to make cheaper ATMs.

Probably the Dracs, not because I think they're the good guys, but because they are straight out and out ridiculous weeaboo's with an idea of what samurais were they got from the back of a cereal packet. Like, Feds are boring and supposed to be generic good guys even though that doesn't stack up if you look at it, Steiner are just 1900's germans, and Liao are kind of the same thing but for Chinese and therefore less cool by default.
And the FWL is ... well
Then you have the Drac's who are just out and out cunts with succession conflicts, back-stabbing, fuedal intrigues where neither side are the good guys and aside from the weeaboo stuff, probably the closest to a realistic techno-feudal state.
Plus for a good long period they were the only people actually making cool mechs and technology in the Inner Sphere.

>What's your favourite Clan?
The Society. Literally the only Clan faction who ever made even a lick of sense. The Clans are kind of nonsense powered by author Fiat anyway. But a sub-faction of Scientists, the people who their entire society runs on, without whom every single Clan is completely fucked, who are just tired of being treated like second class citizens? That actually does make sense.
Of course they're still clanners and therefore all batshit fucking crazy. But at least they make sense. Plus their mechs are the most hilarious anti-fun, FUCK YOU stuff in the setting.

Trial position involves seven other pilots. Katrina Steiner, the cool one not the one craving her brothers forbidden genes. If there was ever to be a Battletech anime they'd be retarded to not make it about her in her youth.
>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?
There's too many eras to make a specific choice here. If I was to pick one assuming its late Succession Wars it would be the Whitworth because it always put a good showing in for itself so I find it a really dependable choice, helped by what swears like constantly having loaded dice when it comes to LRM cluster rolls as I tend to consistently get 8+ and I can't remember the last time I rolled less than 5 with it. Later eras its the Yellow Jacket which really needs no explanation.

>House Cameron, for their semi-expert tardwrangling they had going on for several hundred years with the other Great Houses.
>Clan Widowmaker for doing the galaxy a favor and killing Nicholas Kerensky.
>Rim Worlds Republic because Amaris did nothing wrong!
Huh? Rim Worlds Republic both allowed Nicky K to rise to prominence and wipe out the Camerons.
>>
>>98525690
Not saying Camerons didn't have it coming but I still have a respect for them. Amaris was justified in what he was doing, whether the Clans were a direct result in him losing is irrelevant. Nicky K was the lesser son of a man who had no plan and was always in the shadow of his fathers name, frankly Nicky K was a power hungry megalomaniac who really did fancy himself as a new first lord.

>What's your favourite Great House?
Marik, more so the FWL really since the neo feudalism is my least favorite aspect of the setting.
Plus when you get past the memes and infighting they have quite a few moments of awesomeness like being the only for Inner Sphere force not to get their shit kicked in during the Reunification War

>What's your favourite Clan?
Dimond shark/Sea Fox. They're the least annoying of the lot and I can appreciate the hustle.

>What's your favourite Periphery faction?
The Oberon Confederation, Idk, they have a cool logo and I don't really care about the Periphery.

>Whose your favourite canon character?
Kenyon "The Eagle" Marik. One of the greatest Captain Generals the FWL's ever had. C'mon, how can you not love the smug prince? Jokes aside he's a very fascinating character going from an abused brat to nightmare and turning the barely functioning FWL to power house that nearly destroyed the Capellan Confederation.

>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?
Hunchback 4P, I just love lazing people to death.

>>What's your favourite Great House?
Theoretically, Kurita. Honor the Dragon. In practice, I gravitate to FWL designs. I'm not really into C3 or the Dragon chassis.

>>What's your favourite Clan?
Clan Jade Falcon. The Thurston novels were my introduction to BT, so I will always have a soft spot for them. I've grown to appreciate the green birds as villains and Clan Stars cream.

>>What's your favourite Periphery faction?
Marians. I love Romeaboos.

>>Whose your favourite canon character?
Marthe Pryde.

>>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?
LGR Ontos. The VotW article got me to try it out, and I found I quite liked it for direct fire support. The 8 point hits aren't as threatening, but they add up if ignored.

>What's your favourite Great House?
Honour the Dragon
>What's your favourite Clan?
I don't particularly like any clan, but hells horses and steel viper are kind of cool.
>What's your favourite Periphery faction?
Marian Hegemony
>Whose your favourite canon character?
idk, I guess that one blakist who killed 3 elementals with a knife and survived the jihad
>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?
Nightsky

Because they are basically free extra guns you don't have to worry about keeping alive, let alone maintaining.

As crazy as Nicky was his autistic regime did objectively succeed in preserving a stable society & enabling continued technological advancement for at least 250 years.
I do not envy the life of a clanner civilian but they at least weren’t dying by the billions for 2 centuries from either their infrastructure breaking down or just getting nuked.

>What's your favourite Great House?
Steiner. When they fuck up it's impressive in a fun way. They've been at the centre of trying to calm shit down a few times but also at the middle of some of the biggest shitshows. That they're bankrupt right now with breakaway states is fucking hilarious and can only lead to shenanigans.

>What's your favourite Clan?
Diamond Shark but not Sea Fox. Sea Fox is playing on easy mode. But Diamond Shark got absolutely fucked and kept annoying everyone. Post-Sea Fox restoration it's Hell's Horses, because for most of their time they've been the underdog for trying to be less retarded than most clanners. And they've finally had their day because the other clanners around them gave them some breathing room.

>What's your favourite Periphery faction?
MoC, not for the memes but because they actually get out there and do shit, make some interesting stuff and don't just sit there jerking off in the corner. They've been all up in the Capellans for decades so have a lot of excuses to fight all sorts, have neat designs available to them, and are not usually hit too hard with the idiot stick to keep them down because being a smaller power they don't need to be too much.

>Whose your favourite canon character?
Never gave much of a fuck about any given character. They're by and large more interesting as historical figures than personalities.

>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?
Thunderbolt.

Yeah, instead they were dying of treatable illnesses when they "got too old"...

>the new non mech rules suck
>why are you complaining anon? Tanks are now free
>>
Why are the BA construction rules "like that" where other than a modest increase in cost, medium BA seems strictly better than Light or PA(L).

What is BSP if not just "extra BV to spend on a specific subset of things that refreshes every match"
I mean nothing stopped you from doing the same in TW:
Your force is 4 mechs that we track, and to represent local hires you get to spend 1200bv on convees and infantry every game.

Solution to your problem without requiring the BSP system. It's not that difficult
>>
>>98526834
True, but for TW you'll need sheets for those Vees and PBIs, a lot of extra paper work for disposable assets.
>>
>>98526951
In general: Print in A5.
Also generic infantry record sheets fit five platoons, laminate that one sheet once and you'll be good for the rest of your days.
Vehicles fit two a sheet as well if you must run large amounts of them.

Some gear basically isn't meant to shine in giant robot fights. It'll stand out once you zoom down to Battletroops or RPG scale.

>>What's your favourite Great House?
If i have to pick one, it would be Kurita.

>>What's your favourite Clan?
Clan Goliath Scorpion, be during their HW days, or now in the Scorpion Empire.

>>What's your favourite Periphery faction?
Tough choice....Brotherhood of Randis, with the Taurian Concordat and the Marian Hegemoney close behind.

>>Whose your favourite canon character?
Minobu Tetsuhara

>>What's your favourite mech or vehicle?
Thunderbolt, best trooper in the game!
