Some anons genuinely do not seem to understand the differences in design between the two systems. They think centrepiece = aos.
Cathay is very clearly designed for rank and flank, and they are way too specifically chinese to be aos. Aos is usually more restricted with its cultural references (compare e.g. chinese influences on cathay vs on new mawtribes), and it likes to blend different cultures together. Classic example is ossiarch with japanese, roman, and egyptian influences. Or fyreslayers with celtic, anglo-saxon, and malaysian

>>
>>98528473
>Expand the End Times Nagash models into an army
>You wouldn't see something like this in WHFB!
The idea that AoS is dodging copyright claims is overstated.
>>
>>98528391
Unfortunately yeah, though I do believe that it shouldn't be too hard to do swaps with minimal effort. It's best to have stuff be best right outside the box obviously, but it's still important to learn basic converting skills anyway if you're gonna paint your models
>>98528417
Kek'd. What might their scenery be? Maybe cages full of snacks (peasants) would be good. You can move to them to eat for buffs. Manifestations are a bit harder because, they have an obvious foot focus, but orks already have foot of gork.
>Playing a giga gargant by just placing two footprints on the board and walking through enemy lines
>>
>>98528491
Forgetting the Cogfort? Cathay is quintessentially Ming and lacks anything so out of place with that
>>
>>98528494
As an idea, it kind of lost a lot of steam to me when they brought back fantasy with all the old names, EXCEPT Maliketh, who is the only example of a name actually changing due to copyright, since he's now called Malerion in old world as well.
>>
>>98528496
GW should sell gargant foot shaped slippers and label them as a giga gargant kit.
>>
cathay is not an aos army simply because of the objective fact that it is sold for the old world so it cannot be
a centrepiece or the consistency of inspiration is not the deciding factor it is what gw sells them as
>>
>>98528384
>>98528445
>call the lore team they can't un-rape you
>>
>>98528512
GW don't want anyone to find other miniature providers when they search for their miniatures and they also don't want anyone to find alternatives when searching generally
It's really just a dick move. I bet someone at Warhammer World took notice of Oathmark or something and thought it wasn't fair GW didn't get all the money
>>
>>98528506
The ming dynasty was renown for its giant hot air balloons after all, as we all know from our history classes.
>>
>>98528506
I'm not sure the Terracotta Sentinel would count as being very Ming-inspired since it's based off a much earlier dynasty and also turned massive compared to the historical examples found in Xi'an
>>

>>
>>98528552
That theory kind of runs into the same problem, though. Why not give more of TOW unique searchable names? Do they just not care about specialist games as much?
>>
>>98528558
>>98528562
Sure but you wouldn't see something like that in AoS. It doesn't fit
>>
>>98528569

>>
>>98528579
If you search for

They made TOW to block the second, I think. No matter what you find GW

>you wouldn't see something like that in AoS
but why not?
I'm not sure, big hot air balloon powered by a Phoenix or a magitech robot made of a mixture of terricota and and other materials wouldn't be AoS-worthy
>>
>>98528582
>you wouldn't see something like that in AoS
yes, you would, if there's one thing that aos can say is that anything could go here
>>
>>98528587

See >>98528473
It's about the mix of influences.
>>
>>98528602
Interesting take, plausible enough.
>>
>>98528603
A hot air balloon would get used as a condom between gay gargants or be shot out of the sky by helsmiths or crash into a khadrons skyship or be in the way of a stormcast getting reforged.
>>
>>98528491
I mean that's a good example, CoS uses some obvious hussite design cues, but then mixes it with some other stuff. In this case less other specific historical cultures, but still stuff like the diamond motif or the trellis gate thing all the shields have going on. If whfb did a hussite-inspired army, it would be more straightforward.
Again going back to the cathay/ogre example, you can immediately tell cathay is chinese. I mean that's, just what they are; fantasy chinese.
Whereas ogres yeah their new stuff takes cues from bronze age chinese visual motifs, but it's not immediately obvious unless you happen to know about this (relatively) niche period and even then it's more of a "woah that's pretty cool". They're not supposed to be "ogres but chinese".
>>98528494
I mean yeah they're built on the morghast base, but their japanese, egyptian, roman... aesthetics come from the new stuff. Compare to their whfb equivalent tomb kings which is just fantasy egyptians. You can take one look at them and see that was the goal with the faction. It's pretty straightforward.
I think both approaches have their place.

Never gonna get over how ugly the new orks are and how they have comically twinky arms. I can probably get over the first point, but the second just drives me insane.
Anyways yeah modularity would be nice, if even if it just isolated to the arms/weapons.
If slaves really are the starter faction I could see them having some variation as opposed to undead/destruction.

It's gone from very blasé to surprisingly robust overnight, I'm really pleased. I'm just trying to think where they could go from here. A Stonehenge-esque scenery piece would be perfect, especially now there's Ma Maegran, but what about unit wise? Maybe some kind of skirmish cavalry proxy of teenage giants who're quick on their feet since they're not completely messed up by decades of booze/gravity?

>>
>>98528772
The diamond motif was a minor example in the larger argument that CoS aren't "the hussite army" in the same way cathay are "the chinese army". They take cues, sure, but it's not at the absolute core of their identity like it is for cathay.
And yes, I would argue that. The octagon is very present on cathay miniatures (which again is no surprise, it's very common in chinese shit), but not to the degree the diamond is on the cities of sigmar miniatures. Even their banners and heraldry are in the shape of diamonds. I don't think there's a single mini where it isn't clearly displayed in some form.

eh. IDK. I think warhammer dwarves have odder stuff. Granted aside from the soi jacking architecutre, its mostly isolated to warhammer pre 6e stuff. Well ignoring their lore, dwarf lore can be kinda embarrassing sometimes no matter the era but thats just dwarf things I guess.

>>98528663
GW occasionally remembers how to do this. Ever build the Painbringers? Identical design ethos to pre-primaris marines. Ball joint waist, pauldrons, interchangeable arms, shields, heads. They just randomly remembered for a random kit and didn't bring it back. I'm convinced their design departments don't communicate at all
>>
>>98529273
I think they do have different sculptors do different things sometimes which leads to some ranges being very schizo behind their design philosophies. The reason why helsmiths were so customizable were because they had strictly two people behind them doing the work.
>>
>>98527874
> stable Gor core of the herd. Presumably, the chieftain, Bray-Shaman, and Bestigors get access to the females, since they are bestial and maliciously violent by nature. There was WHF fluff about a peasant woman being captured, caged, and repeatedly raped by the beastlord of the herd, and was freed in the night by a sympathetic doe. Her account was that it was presumed for no other reason than humiliation, so it doesn't confirm the rape baby fetish.

Yes. It is one, singular Anon claiming Goblins rape. He cites two books, claiming not to remember which one has the rape. Gloomspite and Skarsnik, to be precise. Having read both in the past year I can safely say that the Anon is a lying faggot and probably an AGP gooner.
>>
>>98529251
I usually start after I finish dinner and settle in after a bit of browsing online, but there's a reason it takes me like a month to paint a kit. That and I get easily distracted or pulled away from the paint desk.

Everytime I sit down to paint I have something in mind that I want to paint in the given session, and what I want to paint next. If I finish the current sessions goal before time is up I start on the next to give a head start. It also helps to have an order to things. I usually do metallics last for example

what's wrong with the nu blightkings? i haven't bought any yet but i think they look great

Nu blightkings are in fact monopose and lack customization, personally I like the more cohesive design. I built the old blightkings and had fun mixing the bits around, but they really stood out compared to my other units. im not saying the cities guys dont have kites everywhere, but the other guy is saying the octagon theme isnt as pervasive in cathay, when it is on pretty much every model and transfer sheet in the range. its on shields, its on belt buckles, its on the statue, its on the gunner pavises, on the cannons struts, even the loader ogre has an octagon gutplate.

the octagon motif is as pervasive in cathay as the diamond is in cities.

personally i would probably run jade warriors as gallants, and run spear peasants or convert some shield peasants (using peasants + left over jade warrior shields and weapon arms?) as steelhelms. steelhelms tend to be feckless goobers on the table, only good for holding objectives and screening out your guns, while jade warriors are somewhat elite, so i feel like gallants more closely fit their intended role, at least until the old world comes out with some kind of dragonguard elite infantry with an actual model (there is definitely room in the range for this, the army doesnt have a single greatweapon unit yet)
>>
>>98532411
Command corps you could probably cobble together out of the various extra guys you get in say the cannon kit or the lantern
>>

i've wanted to do vampire coast-themed stuff for a long while now. i have a roughly mega gargant sized necrofex colossus wip. i was kind of turned off for a bit by new cities of sigmar because of a lack of regular riflemen to use as gun zombies, but they seem to have new streltsi-likes i could use for that so that's cool. would i be better off using the necrofex as a gargant or a cogfort? idk the 4e rules particularly well

The only question I'd have is are we just adding gundead as their own seperate faction, are they strictly gonna be pirate themed or would it be deadwalkers as a stand alone thing with the lady of flesh.

Bloodstoker ah moffo
>>
>>98533114
The artstyle is not very fitting but the design's pretty nice
>>
>>98533151
i would be okay with them being not pirate themed as long as they did something interesting with them, but if it's a dice roll of how that theme would go i would settle for pirate theme. the vampire coast barely fits in warhammer fantasy but would be right at home in aos
i even made up some gay little lore about them being in service to a giant lighthouse that moved around the realms, with a massive whirlpool of drowned ships around the lighthouse. it would be zombies and vampires in service to the god of the drowned dead, which is one nagash hasn't managed to dominate, and it would either be the lighthouse, or something within the lighthouse
>>
>>98533114
His hammer looks like it's made out of rubber
>>
>>98533220
I'd be fine with gundead being a subfaction of Soulblight or just part of a zombies faction. Primarily pirate themed probably not, but having a whole "wave" heh as pirates would be fine.

It's weird because AOS has these distinctions and certainly if we just port gundead from total war it'd be easy but how well they fit in is another story.
>>
>>98533116
Wouldn't gun zombies have worked perfectly fine as fusiliers?

I like it because the lighthouse would be cool faction terrain. Have it shine its ghostlight on a unit to increase the number of your choice: to hit, wound, or save.

does anyone even use objective markersanymore? I only ever see templates
>>
>>98533460
The templates are just better for gameplay because physical markers interfere with the total available space on an objective. The issue will likely be solved if AoS takes a page from 40K and makes terrain the objectives. No more circles and people could make their own objective markers to denote whatever they need to about that terrain piece.
>>
>>98533479
I think tournamentfags would mandate consistency so we'd see more of the same except with L shaped ruins

The Harridans
There was some more obscure lore about Chaos Dwarfs being grimdark and breeding being restricted to honoured warriors, helsmiths, warlords, sorcerors and guys who forced their way up the rungs of Zharr-Naggrund society one way or another, females were mostly kept in harems and given as favors to loyal chorfs. The low population and possibility of mutants like Bull Centaurs being born (and would usually kill the mother in birth) meant they wanted to keep them skavenesque constantly pregnant to replenish their numbers. But those who lived past their version of menopause found currency as Harridans, the warrior nuns of Hashut, chosen as bodyguards for the Sorceror-Prophets because otherwise female chorfs who could no longer have children were just slaves.
>>
Of course writing EVIL factions as morally reprehensible would be bad/decried as gooner fetishes now so the chorfs now would just have warrior nuns of Hashut because they just do.

>>
>>98536539
Aos is like that, the factions are more polarizing. In whfb it's mostly just classic fantasy tropes (which in fairness it did help standardize in some cases, like e.g. green orcs) so if you'll like the one chances are you'll like most others almost by default. There's a couple that are more out there (e.g. skaven, and on the other end of the spectrum bretonnia) but on the whole it's mostly the same "vibe" as the kids say.
In aos meanwhile the factions are more out there, like has been discussed earlier in this thread they're usually mixes of different inspirations. It seems like this results in more types of armies with aesthetics that some people really love and some people really hate. Idoneth are another classic example (I personally love em), as are bonereapers (I hate em).
>>
>>98536565
Kharadron just feel out of place. They feel too specifically modern DnD than dark fantasy. Fyreslayers... well at least I can look at them & they still feel like dwarves. Maybe if the Kharadron had more like dieselpunk instead of steampunk I'd like them more. Less flash & more function.
Personally while the Idoneth are ugly, the lore & aesthetics are interesting. The Bonereapers I see as a more interesting undead faction than just mindless skeleton soldiers. They make more sense to me than Nagash dragging out vampires to serve him again when he knows they're useless backstabbers.
>>

Aesthetics? It's dumb to care about aesthetics in a miniature-painting hobby? I think it matters. For example, the overabundance of hexagonal motifs in Helsmiths ruined the range for me.

I read the book and there is not even a hint of anything rape related in it. Or in Gloomspite, for that matter. Gloomspite is incredibly dark and filled with body horror, but no rape. Skarsnik has plenty of torture and violence, but not a hint of rape.

He's overexaggerating, mind you I really really hated Gloomspite I thought it was mediocre as fuck.

Primarily just people turning into mushrooms, one guy explodes like a puffball, lotta people being eaten alive or enslaved, I remember a trogg just kinda stomps a guy like it was nothing.
>>
>>98538435
not a HINT is a bit strong, I literally posted the one line that does have a HINT. but you're right about gloomspite, there is nothing i recall in gloomspite that could even come close to implying sexual violence
>>
>>98538454
A lot of depictions of fungal growth and insects slowly killing people alive. The fungal zombies made me uncomfortable, but the entire book had sections that just were pure body horror. Regular depictions of flesh sprouting mycillium and fungal growths under the night of the Bad Moon, the Kharadron being fungal'd from the inside out by the Loonking.
>>
>>98538467
I think what bugged me about that book is the same thing I bitch about every time we discuss black library. I just wanted a book from the goblins perspective like Skarsnik, I do not give a shit about the random civvies and people getting killed by them.
>>
>>98538462
It is the vaguest line possible, not a HINT of rape but more the narrator telling the listener/reader that Goblins excel at psychologically breaking their victims. The entire book goes into great detail on the sadistic tendencies of goblins. Look at what they did the the Halfling, or the prisoners in Skarsnik's dungeon.
>>
>>98538454
gloomspite isn't that bad, its nothing as dark as the skarsnik stuff. I don't think any AoS novels have depicted torture as graphically as the skarsnik novel did. that book also came out 13 years ago so it was from a grittier less sanitized time
>>
>>98538474
I liked the civilian stuff a bit more because it showed a lot of stuff normally not talked about in Warhammer settings. The alcoholic seer and his suicide from despair. The Watchman who was divorced and took out his anger on the drunks at the bar while power tripping. The leader of the city being such a zealot that he expects Sigmar to make things right. The entire Lantern cult and their end.
>>
>>98538497
>I liked the civilian stuff a bit more because it showed a lot of stuff normally not talked about in Warhammer settings

You're not wrong, I wouldn't mind more civilian life in the mortal realms if it was more in depth and kind of seeing a city that functions as opposed to just watching one implode. I dunno, Gloomspite for whatever reason just really didn't do it for me I think it's because a few bits felt much more like... "BUY OUR MODEL!" than other stuff I've read from Black Library. The gobbapalooza being there for like 2 pages just for the sake of saying "LOOK AT HOW COOL THESE GUYS ARE!" then "Oh dear god look those Boingrot Bouncers © COMING RIGHT AT US!" I tend to like when there's more weird bullshit that doesn't really have a model or equivalent.

You can tell when the author is doing their own thing versus when they're just like "Ah yes, of course... Thankfully the Stormcast Eternal Liberators are here to save us with their Sigmarite Warhammers and in the 5 of them there was 1 wielding the mighty Sigmarite Grandhammer."

I think there are times the authors get a bit too out there with shit, best example being the weird... alien psychic preying mantis thing at the end of Orcslayer where it just felt like it fit nowhere and was stupid. But I'd appreciate if they were at least a bit more out there with shit, like if they wanted a gobapalooza they would have snuck in references to odd wizards with swirling eyes and strange staves, the clank and clatter of bottles, or other shit.
>>
>>98538553
>where it just felt like it fit nowhere and was stupid.
it had to be there, because the moment you write a warhammer novel with a mysterious mastermind behind everything your usual reader who's already well versed in warhammer will call out all of the options from the already existing fluff, so you need to add something from out of the left field
>>
>>98538574
You're not wrong, it was more weird that the book was called Orcslayer at that point.

>Was it badly written?

I really haven't been the biggest fan of the Nathan Long Gotrek and Felix books so I might be a bad person to ask. It's cool(?) in the sense of it being very ailen and strange, but it's pretty generic in that it's your standard "Blargh, I'm actually part of an ancient super intelligent race that was replaced by you surface dwellers who are all stupid!"

>>98538639
What I said above, it's not attached to anything before, I think there was some implication it had some association with Chaos but not directly in how you'd imagine. The main shtick was the dorfs dug too deep, and the hold and the invading orcs got mind controlled, it had a bunch of eggs and was going to infest the world until Gotrek did the Gotrek thing and obliterated it and all the eggs.
>>
>>98538425
A very big stretch to think this MUST imply rape. It can be interpreted as such, but we know greenskins aren't a sexual race so that's already pushing it. There's plenty of non-rapey ways to torture people that would be too difficult for victims to recount in detail without reliving the trauma, thus noting it in passing and then moving on.

nighthaunt are a noob trap. obscene gaps, fiddly fits and gaps, breakable models, and all those big smooth bed sheets are perfect canvases to expose a lack of painting technique in even coat coverage. they have some very difficult to reach internal spaces on the insides of the sheets, and the army itself on the table is hard as fuck to play at a basic level because it revolves around rule bending shenanigans and some very unintuitive and non obvious playstyles to get anything done. i actually recommend nighthaunt only as a labor of love, because that army is going to fight you tooth and nail the whole time you are collecting it and playing it. also its main cavalry unit which you want multiples of is a 20 year old kit that looks like ass and doesnt fit next to the modern sculpts.

actual beginner armies? here's one for every grand alliance

chaos: slaves to darkness. easy to build, easy to paint, easy to play, very straightforward and intuitive playstyle, requires zero combos to play at a casual level

Destruction: ogres. brand new models, organic textures and metallics means a simple base coat and shade can do a lot of heavy lifting for you. nice big features are easy to paint, models are simple to build and sturdy, and low model count means you wont be bogged down forever painting them. also very easy point and smash playstyle.

order: seraphon. assembly is quick and easy for saurus and kroxigor units, and all the scale textures take any color and work well, and a simple shade and drybrush and you're 90% of the way done. forgiving of mistakes, all natural textures. gameplay has also been streamlined so they are a pretty beginner friendly army

death: bonereapers. one of the easiest armies to build and paint in the game, you can practically do the whole thing one color and a wash if you want, and the models natural bone texture will do all the work for you. moderately easy to play too, and low model count so the army paints and plays fast

In the heart of every man thing is the desire to rape and be raped. To suppress the desire in one way is to bring it forth in another. It is the way of our people.

HOWEVER!!!

nothing in this game is so difficult to paint or play that you shouldnt collect it if its what your heart is really leaning towards. so if there is something that just absolutely catches your eye, dont stress about how difficult it may be, get it and have fun.

and also know that there are products which can safely paint strip plastic models, so if you do get something and do a rough job on it and want to take another swing at it later once you've improved, that is definitely possible.

Sorry to disturb whatever the fuck this is, but an interesting tidbit from TGA. Apparently, a while ago, boole conversed privately with some of the users there sharing the following (copypasted) info.
Tldr umbraneth army was ready a while ago but oddly he hadn't seen malerion mentioned much in whatever source he had on TLW.
Since then, of course, there has been that other rumour which included something about malerion being manipulated by / turning to slaanesh. Make of all that what you will.

HOT TAKES ANON SINCE I'VE PAINTED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING (thanks underworlds)

here's my opinion on everything starting with order

Stormcast Eternals: Both easy and hard, you can be as lazy or go as crazy as you want. They're not space marines but I think they're pretty easy to just slap some metal, leather, and a wash on to call a day or if you wanna go crazy there's options.

Cities: Lots of little greebles and bullshit, but realistically if you get a good flow going they're not the WORST but I wouldn't say good for people new to this. Lots of trim, small details, and faces.

Lumineth: Fuck these guys.

Sylvaneth: Basically just painting trees and ghosts, super easy, can contrast and it'll look nice or go in with lots of shading and other stuff. Very easy and usually look nice no matter what you pick scheme wise.

DoK: Lotta skin, lotta spindly shitty little fiddly bits, but the snake ladies are easy to paint. If you wanna do 'em good though it's kinda like cities, LOTS of faces and if you really care about that it'll look rough.

IDK: Not too bad but I feel like if you wanna do them you gotta do it good, ya know? I wouldn't wanna pop into this faction half cocked. Lots of the same colors but I think they're worth being better at.

Fyreslayer: Easy, just paint naked men and beards, slap some metal colors on the runes and call it a day.

KO: Opposite of fyreslayers but worse than Stormcast, lots of spindly bits and designs. You can do them simply but I feel like with IDK I don't wanna do them unless I'm feeling like going all out. Probably not good for new people.

Seraphon: Not too bad, lots of scales means contrast and drybrushing work really well to make 'em look good. Big dinos are simple and the schemes are easy to steal from other stuff. I like 'em but dunno if I could stand a full army.

Chaos:

Skaven: if you can stand the 40 requisite clan rats you'll need (and know every model has like: leather, cloth, metal, skin, and fur) you can do it. They aren't too bad but I was not the biggest fan as a new painter.

Khorne: lotta skin, lotta trim, but not quite as bad as STD. They're not very elegant but I think they're not too bad to paint as someone new. they're very CHUNKY which I think helps with this kind of thing.

Slaanesh: Lots of spindly fiddly bits, straps and skin are like my least favorite shit to deal with. Not as bad as say cities but deffo not easy.

Nurgle: Lotta skin and boils, you have room to make things not look perfect since if you fuck up a bit Nurgle already looks fucked up so it's not AS BAD. The old blight kings were rough because you're painting a full hero but the new ones are basically just half naked fat guys in togas. If you like painting gross shit they're fun.

Tzeentch: FUCK THESE GUYS. Horrors are easy, fuck anything with that stupid gold spindly shit.

STD: you have such a wide range but at the same time it's gonna be lots of trim work. The trim gets worse as the models get stronger so uh, take that into account. But I'd say it's not too bad for someone new, you'll learn a lot and have lots of fun options.

Chorfs: I lied, I haven't gotten a chance at these guys yet. But the plating looks like it'd be kinda like Nagash so I can't imagine they're too bad?
>>
>>98539016
IDK and KO really do feel like the prestige painting factions. You can definitely paint them basic but they almost feel like you wouldn't want to collect them unless you also had serious ambitions to paint them. LRL lends itself to gorgeous painting projects too but people also collect the range just to play more often it seems.
>>
>>98538979
helsmiths are somewhat easy to paint. they're small, but the segmenting on their armor and shields means they work well with washes and metallics, and they arent covered in trim and jangles like khorne or slaanesh. hardest part of them to paint will probably be all the smoke effects. on the table they are both easy and hard to play. easy because every unit is easy to understand, but hard because their army mechanic requires controlling territory to generate power to enhance your units, which requires careful planning not to overextend yourself but still grab enough board presence that you get the demonic power you need. the units themselves are very straightforward point and shoot units though. if helsmiths looks good to you, they are perfectly achievable for a new player, and their spearhead is well rounded, that would be a great start to the game.

if i had to rate which ones are the hardest for a beginner, probably slaanesh, gloomspite, cities of sigmar, and soulblight would be the worst offenders. slaanesh and cities have some very detailed very tricky models and some quite complex gameplay, while gloomspite and soulblight are not individually hard to paint or play but are both horde armies requiring painting 100+ models easily which is expensive to collect and exhausting to both paint and play on the table

DEATH (my favorite grand alliance)

Nighthaunt: Kinda mix of what the other guy said, I do think they're beginner friendly in that GW clearly did design them with contrast in mind. I think they are a faction where you have room to learn lots of techniques and they're not too bad. A FEW MODELS have some bits that annoy me (looking at you olynder and THAT ONE SPECIFIC CHAINRASP WHO'S HAND BREAKS OFF EVERY TIME) but I think they're a solid place to learn.

FEC: Probably not the best starter faction BUT lots of fun options kinda like nurgle if you like painting gross shit. Lots of guts, gore, and SKIN SO MUCH SKIN. They're very samey model wise so if you do something good on one it's gonna apply to literally ALL of them.

SBGL: Wide variety kinda like STD, I think they're some of the best painting you'll find. Stuff for people new and old, vamps have some annoying filigree that I hate, BUT the skeletons are easy since it's just bones and no eyes or faces to be concerned with, zombies have room for gross bits, and you get a bit of everything. Very fun!

OBR: Unfortunately probably my least favorite for death, they kinda feel like KO to me in that I can't quite wrap my head around what the fuck colors go where at times and the models are very strange. You can go in with a basic bitch paint job as someone new but I don't know how well it's gonna work, they feel like another faction dedicated to folks who know what they're doing. YOU'D FIGURE EASY BECAUSE SKELETONS, but you'd be wrong unfortunately.

Bonus: Nagash, you can use him with everyone and he's a treat to paint. Love that fucker like you wouldn't believe.

And last but not least, Destro:

Gloomspite: Super fucking fun to paint, very new painter friendly. Troggs have that kind of skin that is the same as Lizardmen, Night Gobbos are basically robes and a small green face and some hands, I think the most elabroate pain in the ass models would be Gobbapalooza and Skragrot but even then they're fine. (Just some weird bits to paint here and there) Honestly a very solid place to start if the army was actively hated by GW. Lots of room for color and fun.

Ogors: With the new refresh, FANTASTIC. The textured skin has helped so god damn much in making them look more interesting than just half naked fat men. They're big, chunky, easy to paint with not so many crazy details and since they're super elite you'll have half to 1/3rd of the shit to paint. GOOD SHIT.

Ironjawz: Same bit with Ogors but more metal to paint, they're just orks nothing too crazy. Lots of bulky details, big chunky weapons, ezpz.

SOB: suprisingly not new guy friendly, yeah you only need 4 models (or 3 and kragnos) BUT the models are overly greebled to shit. 2 million little fucking different bits and while you don't need to do that many a single gargant would take me ages to get right. Wouldn't recommend as a starting point unless you just want to spend a lot of time on the 4 dudes. (new medium gargs and new garg lady do look sick though.)

Kruleboyz: surprisingly easier than you'd think but less than you'd hope., a lot of weird greebles and trophies and other bits... You can keep them basic as fuck and I think they look fine, the proportions are also kinda weird, with bits and lots of weird little nails poking out randomly but otherwise I think they're not too bad. Anything with a cage can fuckoff though, and Gobbsprakk's little spice rack has so many different bits and bobs. Cool but I'd say... Nowhere near as easy as the easiest, but it's probably somewhere in the middle.

SHIT, that's all of em.

I think of them on the level of Space Marines. Lots of wide, plain surfaces with well defined and simply shaped trim. Less “greebles” than people make them out to have. Most sculpts have a single trinket and a most of the things that hang off are tassels. The real pain point of hobbying with LRL is how their sprues are cut up. They way some of the assembly is design is straight up infuriating in how stupidly it prevents a convenient subassembly.

KO are acutally quite easy to paint, but the basing problem takes that army from like a 4/10 difficulty to an 8/10

I think Destro unrionically is probably some of the best for new folks just because everythings big and chunky. Except for how annoying it is painting megas and some of the gitz stuff.

I'm not big on orks & gobs lorewise but they really do look the most fun to paint. Especially the pigs & cabbage dragon.

Do people unironically worship the Dark Gods in real life? I've been larping for a long time (tattoos, sacrificing bugs, the usual larp shit), yet I feel the pull to go further. Been searching facebook without any luck, maybe an anon here can help me out?
>>
>>98539338
You need therapy if you're larping worshiping made up emotion demons created by a buncha old british dudes.
>>
>>98539338
...what?
>>
>>98539353
therapy can do nothing in the face of daemons. he needs rabbinic care

so i know the urak taar kit has spare riders. does it actually give you enough bits to build a whole extra guy on foot or is it just like a head and arm swap or someething?

>Do people unironically worship the Dark Gods in real life?
yes demon worship very much is rael
>>
>>98539755
No it's a whole extra body. Obviously posed looking down though so you'll have to make a little tactical rock if you don't want them looking like a sperg staring at the ground to avoid eye contact
>>
>>98539755
The latter I believe, and I think maybe an extra cape? Though if you got creative with an extra generic dorf I don't see why not.

art's expensive, and I dunno if perverts are big in the AOS community and want to fuck things from AOS. LIKE you could, but you'd need an OC and it'd have to be an OC you'd both want to fuck and probably model etc etc.

There was an anon who said he'd hit up one of my artist buddies who I think said he was supposedly looking for commissions to do for AOS but that never went through.
