I wouldn't have minded primarchs if they were kept as legendary in a way, like keeping them on 5k+ games / apocalypse scenarios.

Should have gone harder into gulliman being half-dead/stuck in a dreadnought-like super suit. Should have gone harder on the don quixote parallels for the lion. Make them unreliable, with weaknesses.

But let's be real: they brought back primarchs because normalniggers want super heroes. Super powerful characters to wank to and orbit like soccer fans.

Goblin green bases is cringe man, it's one of those things that was corporate-mandated slop that was hated at the time and only became glorified as "oldschool" by newfags decades later.

The artists, designers, and creatives who made 40k, people like Andy Chambers, John Blanche, all hated the goblin green, but were told they had to do it because at the time with the shitty camera tech of the early 90s it photographed better, and the company wanted to appeal more to kids so they put bright primary colors all over everything. They fucking begged and fought and railed against it and finally won by the end of 2nd edition which is why 3rd goes back to being proper grimdark and grimy colors and art like Rogue Trader was, as befits the setting.

Stop putting the goblin green shit on a pedestal.

It's also especially egregious to do goblin green bases with Crimson Fists because that's mixing up different Oldhammer eras. CF were the posterboys of Rogue Trader when everything was still dark and gritty, goblin green became a thing with the start of 2nd when Fists had been pushed to the side in favor of brighter colored chapters like Blood Angels and Ultramarines.
>>
>>98548198

>>

As nostalgic as it is, yeah, Goblin Green basing looks kinda shit. It makes your guys look like they're on cheap astroturf and even unpainted sand looks better in comparison.
>>
>>98548150
Take the green bases to the next level with rocks a little cork board short cliffs. Still use desert sand texture paint with the green method, but break it up with some other terrain and then give it the green rim too. I’ve been thinking about doing this with World Eaters for my next army, but I’m getting the call from the hive fleet now, so I dunno if it’ll happen.

The hand of the archon almost definitely will not survive as an independent data sheet into the 11th edition codex. If Kabalite Warriors do get a new kit they will probably just be a war gear option or get replaced by Trueborn.

I’m the creator of the Sasquatches.
I’m making some modifications based on the feedback from the previous thread.

1. I’ll swap the brown and blue for jet black or carbon black.

2. I’ll keep the idea of the Chapter Master having a yellow color, but I’ll change it to gold.

3. Veterans and the Chapter Master shall wear crests on their helmets to indicate their ranks.

4. I’m also going to change the Chapter symbol.
Which do you prefer? A gorilla skull or a foot?

Start off aiming for 1k. Pretty much everyone at any game store I’ve played at is willing to play, and brought models for, a 1k game with a new player.
Either look at what model you like the most and find a detachment for it, or look at the detachments and pick something out thematically that you like and build for that.
It’s Important with 1k not to go too small infantry or too big and elite, you need a good balance of big and small stuff, so you can spread out and still punch hard.

How sweaty are the rules in full scale 40k compared to the rules in Kill Team? The reason I ask is because a friend told me that the rules in Kill Team read like a fucking lawyer wrote everything because there is so much sweaty bullshit that the rules have to be very VERY clear because otherwise people will abuse certain aspects of a rule. Are the rules in regular 40k just like that too or not really?

You can get units for 70 to 50% MSRP (or better) by looking at Ebay and the various marketplace apps. People buy them for MSRP, assemble, prime, realize they don't like painting, and sell their shit for a loss.

>>98548322

Freebooterz got a detachment at the end of 10th. Its been legal for about 6 months.

I don't know how this shit works, is it no longer going to be legal to play once the Codex drops since it wasn't included? That'd be crazy since Speedwaaagh isn't included either and it dropped like two fucking months ago.

>>
>>98548405
Firstly, paint one free miniature at the store with the shitty decoart acrylics and busted brushes they'll graciously let you borrow.

If that doesn't suck, you then ask a player at the shop to teach you some Kill Team or Combat Patrol. They will misunderstand this and proceed to info dump misread lore and some rules for about two hours while you look at their awkwardly painted miniatures that should make you proud of the previously mentioned dogshit space marine you painted.

If you happen to find yourself enjoying the simple camaraderie, the silly design language of the miniatures, and especially the smallwork of painting tiny plastic soldiers and remembering tiny unbalanced rules, you're good to go.

I will say that anyone I met who was especially weird in this hobby has been a Space Wolves player OR a Eldar player of some sort. tl;dr you can splash them in, but making an Apothecary-focused army is not really viable right now.

They got a buff by proxy this edition by getting the SUPPORT tag, now they don't lock you out of better leaders. When Codex: SM drops in a month or two, they're probably going to get the same buff Painboys got in the new Ork codex (heal 3 wounds). Which is a big improvement over "restore one model with full wounds".

The Apothecary Biologis is even better, being essentially a Gravis Lieutenant. You can put him with Eradicators, particularly the Heavy Bolters version, so the LETHAL HITS will shred. Or put him with with Aggressors.

Downside is, there's only one Primaris Apothecary kit and its monopose as fuck. The Biologis is even worse, being monopose pushfit and currently locked in a combo kit. There are also zero detachments that specifically buff/enhance Apothecaries afaik.

How do (you) paint white skin tones? I've been trying AP Dorado Skin with AP Quartz Skin as a highlight, and it all looks way too "yellow." Should I have not used a black primer? Do I just need to do more layers (probably)? Should I just swap paints to Vallejo or AK, or is there a trick to making a more realistic "reddish" undertone with any "skin tone" paints?
But in better news, I applied my "leather" tone to my confederate guard, which really brought out the contrast in the cold gray and the brown uniforms, somehow, so we're back on track. I just wish I had stability in my hands to not have to go back and cover up so many slip-ups...
>>98548278
Yes, those are loaded craps dice
In craps you want to roll 7s to win, so loaded craps dice are weighted to give you either a 6 or a 1, usually sold as a 50/50 split of the two numbers because 12 is a loss for whoever rolls that, so you'd ideally mix the dice up and give your opponent two 6 dice and you have one of each 6 and 1.
This obviously also works well in 40k, you just shelf the 1 half and only roll the 6 half of the dice.

My tinfoil hat theory is that they were going to physically obliterate Commoragh in the lore for being too "rapey", and make entirely new units for the Ynnari and/or Corsairs that your old Deldar models could "Counts-as". Representing the survivors of Comorragh.

The high tide for Woke came and went before they could move on that idea though. Same with killing off Slaanesh.

It's difficult because the claim itself is so abstract and nebulous. It's not like debunking a claim about something specific, like for example if someone said that Ultramarines were originally orange and I post the first image of an Ultramarine GW ever released and they were blue, that's been solidly debunked.

There's no single bit of evidence that can succinctly debunk the claim that 40k is left-aligned satire. You basically just need someone to read every bit of the old content and then admit in good faith that that's the case, and getting leftists to do anything in good faith is like getting GW to lower prices.

They’re kinda mixed. I run two of them in my current list, one in a 10 man brick of infernus with a librarian and one in a 5 man squad also with. Libby. The combination of 4++ and bringing back a model a turn, means they can really stand up to an attack, and the shooting is pretty nasty at short range. They aren’t “great” and I’d probably be better off replacing them with something else, but they aren’t worthless. Because of how unit rules work now, as long as the characters are still alive, you can revive the squad with an apothecary. It’s kinda janky but neat.
>>
>>98548560
Almost never worth the cost. An apothecary is 40 points, can bring back a max of 5 models a game, that’s if you get plinked in turn 1, and if the unit doesn’t get wiped before turn 5. For 35 points more I could just bring another unit of 5 Assault Intercessors.
Other healing units in the game like pain boys and Hospitliars are just way better.
>>
>>98548719

They really need to release a proper Gravis Lieutenant with C:SM and give the Biologis some more apothecary flavoring, yeah. But its him or nothing. Really doubt they're going to add more Apothecary variants.

That's a fair point then.
I've seen Facebook screenshots claiming to be the real deal, but no archive links of them being said.
Just screenshots and those can be faked so there is "reasonable doubt" there. Interviews with the original makers of 40k debunking oldhammer myths may be better than say an infographic.
>that last sentence
I feel the embarrassment of having to share some (not all) opinions with those things.
The particular ones on Reddit or X or DooDooSky will engage in downplay or denial tactics.
And if the interview happens they'll say it is AI to deny it.

>is like getting GW to lower prices.
I remember when WOTC introduced a new 5e or 5.5e or DnDone license and then the social media following started a big uproar over it. I think a campaign to make some social media noise happened that I think made WOTC back down.

Why hasn't there been a big social media campaign by those types of Warhammer 40k followers to make GW lower their prices with the usual talking points like white privilege or some variation of it to make GW lower the prices on Warhammer 40k models?
I would fire up me old social medias to partake in such a campaign for cheaper Warhammer 40k models if it involved those kinds of talking points.

Start with a dark red flesh, highlight a peach flesh, recess wash a very thin red/pink.
Black primer is fine, you just need to do multiple thin coats of the base layer for good coverage. If you tell me YOUR BRAND, I can pick out some paint colors for you.
Also with faces it’s super important to use as little paint as possible so it goes on thin and dries fast. The latter part is important because you’re working with a tiny surface area and if it takes forever to dry you’re going to get impatient and smudge your lower layers.

Yeah given what the usual Black Library writers are. It breaks immersion for me if I'm being honest.

That is very true. I think the ForgeWorld Siege of Vraks is a perfect example of this because they had military vehicle autists on the team making "practical vehicles" like the powerlifting sentinel and recovery tanks.
The "serious realism" autism was always present and I think most concentrated in the Imperial Guard fanbase but I think ForgeWorld unzipped the bag and now the swarm of cats are now out.

>I’ve heard people talk about it, but why would this even happen.
"Pragmatically" it is to allow other threads to have a better chance and Warhammer threads not drown them out.
But the reality is it might become real if a dedicated autist pushes hard enough.

There was a time when Warhammer 40k threads outside this general were always thread policed by an autist who would say "post models" or a variation of that.
I thought it was a trained AI bot so I have posted unpainted models to not feed the learning programming and to see what it would say. Sometimes he would post a contradictory wojak. Contradictory because it mentions smashed models and no models in the same pic. I thought that image too was AI.

It turns out was a dedicated autist who is basically a "wannabe janny." Might be the same guy who goes to threads posting "traditional games?"
I jokingly mentioned applying to be a janny.
He might actually do it and if he gets his powers were gonna see some shit.
One of his posts did get deleted so a janny did probably ban him when he sperged out through admitting he patrols looking for Warhammer 40k threads outside the general to shit in.
So that probably would have given him a grudge.
And if worst case scenario happens then it means I've created a monster.

I'm sorry in advance but let's hope the worst doesn't come true.

Painting light skin tones always has been a bummer for me that took me out of the fun feelings of painting miniatures.
I usually go with black priming because for whatever reason black just goes out the airbrush very nicely so I've gotten used to it.

Funnily enough I remembered the "zero skill plasma" painting tutorial and looked up "zero skill skin" and found pic related.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5GA4ItjLg0
I hope there is a tutorial for the zero skills crowd I'm part of that starts from a black primer.
Hope it helps you though!

The general rule of painting light skin from black priming is to start from reddish brown and work to a lighter tone, right?
I sometimes wonder how good chatgpt or gemini are at answering miniature painting questions and them actually being correct answers.
Might be a good experiment to try some time as a joke.

Pretty much never. About other things in life either.

Just make sure something is actually a good deal or whether you're being suckered by marketing. Then imagine yourself in a month, or a year, or longer how you feel about the item and whether you're still going to be using it. These two general rules of thumb apply to any purchase and following them will help all your finances.

I have full armies of 5 factions I've collected over the years following these rules so I don't regret any of it.

>>98548183
It's new model syndrome. Every time you field your new thing for the first time it gets blown up right away. I've noticed it a lot for me and my friends and I don't think noticing it is confirmation bias. It's something about wanting to see it to do something so you use it too much or something.

>>98548560
What a coincidence, I happened to just put together a silly list putting a biologis with a 6 model aggressor unit with the two guns and calgar.
Each model has 3 bolter shots and d6 fragstorm shots, which will average about 30 shots for lethal hits. Add in the two characters and it's about 35 shots. And the unit isn't shabby in melee, I kind of want to actually make the biolgis oc9 some day. I don't play marines much so haven't tested this much but it's done ok in a couple test games.

I just remembered a Dr. Faust Painting clinic video where he paints the Warpaint version of Conan The Barbarian.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIV8xN_t34A
I think the first basecoat is Vallejo Heavy Warm Grey and VMC Beige brown first mixed. I skimmed the video so I could be wrong.
Vallejo heavy warm grey isn't in production. It is just game color "warm grey" so there is a chance it isn't as heavily pigmented as the opaque game color version before it.

Here it is on Stahly's chart from the catbox in the OP.
Paint vault says that the closest paint to Vallejo Game Color's Warm Grey is ArmyPainter's Mocca Skin.
https://www.paint-vault.com/paint/592-vallejo-warm-grey
>what is paint vault
Another paint brand comparison website but what makes this one different is that it covers lesser known lines of paint like AK Interactive's AFV, AIR and Figure range to WargameFoundry's Foundry paint line that you probably never heard of until seeing this post.
The site probably just works off online paint swatches instead of Stahly's more trustworthy chart that uses photographed results.

Is there a fierce rivalry between Elegoo and Anycubic when it comes to miniature 3D printing?
Or is it just brand autism like Coke vs Pepsi and the reality is both companies are making good printers and trying to outdo each other by making a better product instead of saving money but not being the worst of the other for sales?

How is it holding up these days here and outside but still on the internet here?
Anyways there is the renegades wargame and the other games mentioned in the OP nobody knows of or cares.
I think they're meant to be miniature agnostic and rules are free but they do seem to both cater towards the reuse of Warhammer 40k models.

Hey Tuomas supposedly said that the miniature hobby is a "walled garden" according to a 1d4chan successor article.
If that's true then he's going back on it. He can say all he wants about 3D printed models, but not everyone can afford a place to have room for a 3D printer so if anything what you said makes it even worse for TC because their official plastics are priced like they're Warhammer models and now the 3D printing excuse is essentially nothing.
I'm speaking from experience in setting up a printer+wash and cure station.

I did buy the kickstarter rulebook from backing the kickstarter in good faith.
Maybe the spirit of the Bogdanoffs told Tuomas to rugpull TC.

Thanks!
I hope they're good resin printers too so I can politely tell the LGS goers to try that instead of asking me to print. I keep going from wanting to paint metal coils for old school and ease of painting to thinking about glowing colored plasma coils.

When did the brightest part of a glowing plasma gun "move" from the top of the plasma coils to the bottom of the plasma coils?

Space marines are "better" than thunder warriors because genetic stabilization was given to them at the cost of combat prowess abilities.

It is great that if a tabletop game is bad the bad rule can be modified or ignored.
The problem is when "official" changes are made. And made too quickly.
I think part of why YuGiOh and Pokemon and MTG have stood for so long is because they have not had many different editions as Warhammer 40k. If they are on a rules changing cycle it is not as frequent as the Warhammers get.

Which makes me wonder why GW didn't look at Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition and try to make a properly fun and balanced game edition so they could just milk it with loads of extra stuff and maybe even monetize fan content with a license of some sort.
Maybe that was 8th edition but then they tossed that idea out afterwards. I vaguely remember 8th edition supposed to be the first of a "living edition."

>>
>>98549370
Why?
>>
>>98549375
>I vaguely remember 8th edition supposed to be the first of a "living edition."
That was just a rumour that took off, GW had never once said anything like that. The fact is that new edition churn makes them money because their best selling products are the launch boxes and the hype around a new edition always brings in the most new players (or briefly ropes back in returning players who are hoping it fixed all the problems that made them leave - spoiler: it never ever does).

But
>Most newfags are into Warhammer 40k for the tournament scene.
I'm aware of this, I just don't understand why. Why are they all so fucking retarded as to think that's the main draw of a hobby where you handcraft and handpaint miniatures which are based on an extremely vast foundation of worldbuilding and lore.
>>
>>98549354
Yes:
The main 40k AL books are:
>Shroud of Night
>Sons of the Hydra
>Renegades: Harrowmaster
The last one features lots of AL warbands and shows how splintered they are, from full CSM to unironically Imperial loyalists.
Ignore the recent sequel, though. It's sadly shit and a nothing burguer that wastes the characters of the first one.
>>

>>
>>98549396
>I just don't understand why
The other mediums stagnating or not being as good as they used to be is why some people are looking for alternative entertainment mediums.
So some look at see miniature painting and wargaming as a new medium that might be fun and better. The reality is both have their advantages and disadvantages.

The usual suspects of why vidya is not as good as it was before can also be a contributing factor to why newfags come in but seem so drawn to tourney play.
I hope that the vidya curse of uglifying women no matter what won't spread to miniature sculptors.

>>98549397

>>

Ghost Legion is just a bad story with an idiot plot. The protagonist from the first novel suddenly becomes an idealist idiot trying to create his own Empire of Justly Ruled Planets to show the Imperium how it's done. It's the most anti-AL plot you can imagine. The tone is off and the teased McGuffin of the first book is wasted.

The woke stuff is minor and irrelevant.

Depending on who you're asking it is relevant. Like irrelevant like resident autists in this thread where you can in theory ignore them but they're always there?
Or is it Mike Brooks toning his usual "subtleties" down to irrelevance for the book or do you mean it is irrelevant because the book is just bad even with the "subtleties" being toned down or not present at all?

I don't mind a book summary either.

I have an FDM printer I use for general use, and I tried to do some mini models on it. .1 layer heights, .25mm nozzle, doesn't matter you always get layer lines, you just have to find ways to minimize them and very few people know how to design around them so you get a lot of post-processing work in smoothing edges unless you print big and boxy (like most Imperium vehicles). Lots of models are just not meant to be FDM printed as well, so they end up shit no matter what unless you take the time to learn to model.
You can easily smooth out layer lines with acetone on ABS prints, but ABS produces toxic fumes and costs more than PLA, so 90% of FDM 3d prints are with PLA.
Fwiw, I've printed a few proxies of old FW Hellhounds on an FDM printer, they look "fine," you just have to clean up a lot of edges and be willing to accept ugly sloped panels, annoying assembly, or doing the STL work yourself to actually design the whole model for the production medium.

Coincidentally, the layer lines work perfectly for historical models as a texturing for German zimmerit anti-magnetic-mine coating.
>>98549461
A lot of the face sculpt issues with Sisters go away in paint. GW's official painters don't know how to paint women.
The Retributor Superior image on their website (and thus on the box) has a 5 o'clock shadow ffs
But yes GW doesn't do very "feminine" faces, even though you CAN salvage them with heavy paint (which is what makeup is anymore).

The overall models don't look to intentionally be used as 40k proxies. The Darktide braced autogun looking AK rifle is probably just a bone thrown to 40k eyes.
>Secondly
Have some respect for the few STL makers like Anvil Industry that don't cram excessive detail into every sculpt and actually comprehend simplicity being a good thing when it comes to making 28mm scale STL proxies.
>thirdly
Madrobotminaitures might be pretty good if you're into guard stuff.
Wargames Atlantic's Death Fields stuff like their Damned are pretty good. In hard plastic too. Pic related.
Kromlech for orks.
Tortuga Bay for space marines.
If there were any good space marine proxy makers GW has pounced them quickly. Tortuga probably survives by being outside GW's copyright jurisdiction or if they're Ukrainian and get shut down there be a big outcry.

>>98549480
Space marine players are always fighting on scale. Personally I think the primaris and Age of Darkness firstborn (don't care if anyone gets mad at the f-word) proportions are the correct ones.
Tortuga Bay is pretty close to this truescale. But some take it too far by making the models too thick.
I think it is realism autism at play.
The "FF" sculptor kind of does this, but for better or worse he is one of the few consistent space marine makers so for those who like his proportions, he has a huge range of them.
Most of them taken down by James. Hopefully archived somewhere so I can hopefully modify them to be closer to the plastic Horus Heresy model proportions or Primaris proportions.

I'll start painting the muhrines from the Dawn of War box this week. I got Vallejo's orange set which is pretty nice as the main colors will be orange with black accents but I haven't decided on which part of the black. I got four veterans (3 bladeguard, 1 ancient) and I know they often use White helmet but maybe I can go with orange everything and then the veterans get black helmet as opposed to other guys.
My main question is to what extent do you guys use sub-assemblies for painting? I've never painted a marine before but I'm almost sure that the helmets and the powerpacks are painted separately. I'd appreciate tips.

I don't know how the ones avoid lawsuits. But I would like extra money from STL sculpting.

Lots of armies got about as many detachments as tyranids last edition. Though some of them definitely got screwed over and got stuck with like four.
Proportionately that would mean some armies statistically might end up with only 10 if they don't have a particularly diverse range of units to pull from that require support detachments. I probably would only expect that to happen to stuff like Knights, Chaos Knights, Custodes, Grey Knights, Drukhari, Emperor's Children, World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Votann, and Genestealer Cults.
And then Space Marine supplements are probably only going to get five or six in addition to the core ones that they will all have access to and only be required to take one Detachment specifically from their sub faction

thanks. that gives me hope.
hopefully there are 1 or 2 detachments that give firewarrior and breacher a nice boost, if their datasheet didnt already get some changes. seeing how many ork units have multiple weapon profiles, it would be cool if breacher got their different weapon profiles back, where their weapons get better the closer they are to the enemy.

Hopefully Tau are in for something good and a bit more balanced in their codex. Orks makes it look like they're really willing to totally redesign a faction from the ground up and change core aspects of them if they need to and Tau kind of need it. Expect to see a lot more close combat shooting profiles, just like orks got.
I think they are also the most well-known example of a faction being screwed over by lack of Detachments both in their 10th edition codecs and the 11th Edition index due to keywords limiting them severely. GW has to be aware how much that has annoyed people.

If the model is not wearing a mask or other air tight sealing apparatus:
Roll a strength 3 hit that ignores armour but not any toughness or hero saves
If you roll a 6, the model's movement range is halved
Add a Wuhan, or Nurgle Chest Burn marker to the model
Then repeat for every model within 4 inches that does not have a marker

Do not remove the markers until the end of the battle, unless in a campaign, in which case they spread it amongst all new models they deploy with

If you have the Mechanico Vaccinarrius, a Magos Biologis model can proxy for one, in your army you may ignore the strength hit but will still spread the virus under normal rules
However any model with they keyword Nurgle's Chosen or Anti-Admech may not benefit from this protection
Allied forces require their own Vaccinarrius

If a model with the keyword Nurgle's Chosen comes into contact with the virus, remove all markers and continue spread from that model, as the virus has mutated and all prior immunity no longer works, including the Vaccinarrius who may remain immune upon rolling a 4+ on his turn, however if he rolls a 1 he may not attempt to regain immunity again to another viral strain

Falls in line with how most KT boxes in 2024 and 2025 had terrain or props for the larger terrain maps, like how Termination had little Generators meanwhile none of the boxes released in 2026 have had terrain pieces at all.

Devlan was particularly egregious because the termagants were not necessary at all and they could have put that Typhon terrain in for a second time, or included special IG fortifications.

>>

Yeah the 2017 one is pretty good because she was a named recreation of the 2nd edition codex cover. But she never had any special rules and was just like any other Canoness.

She's discontinued now and goes for pretty high prices so I'm glad I bought it for 20€ back when you could buy her new. She was one of the last Finecast models GW made as far I'm aware.
>>
>>98550017
Haven't painted all of them. But my Chaos Daemons army is almost all Greater Daemons so it's pretty low model count.

Not sure if I want to get more of the lesser ones or not.

Throw in another box of shock troops and a baneblade and you should be fine.

>>98549960
Stick the model to some modeling putty/blu-tak/poster putty by one of its feet and then attach that putty/tack to a painting handle. Swap feet once it's dried to paint the other foot.
>rate my current list:
It's a decent start, but you need more of everything and you lack severely in transports for your line units.
>get another squad of Cadians or two
>get a command squad to walk forward with the Cadians
>get at least 2 lascannon HWS
>get more transports for your "line" units, I prefer Chimeras but you want Centaurs so get Centaurs
I usually play Mechanised Assault spamming Chimeras/Taurox, so ymmv on this particular point of advice. Chimeras pull double duty by also being decent infantry support on their own that the Centaur just isn't, so I prefer them.
If you have some big damage unit that you can spam and doesn't have the heavy keyword (so not HWS), do put them in a Centaur though because Firing Deck 12.
>get another Leman Russ and a LR commander so you can give orders to your tanks and have some more units that can eat up damage
>if you know you're going to be fighting a lot of monster/tankspam armies, get a LR Vanquisher as well
>get another Scout Sentinel to have more map control
>get another Hippogriff because their Convoy Escort Vehicle ability is insanely good for a damage-dealing vehicle in this game

Or say fuck it and fill the rest of the 700 or so points you have with a Baneblade and as many Bullgryns as possible.

It's been 10 months since I got my haircut and I was looking like Ozzy (RIP), so I went to the barbershop I've been going to since I was 16. Anyway when I finished and went to pay the barber turned to his sister at the register (it's an asian family owned business, they still got pictures of haircuts you could get in 1986 on the walls) and says "lot of college students coming in this week" since there's a uni nearby and they started up.

Anyway even though I'm over 30 and browsing 4chan for nearly 20 years, people still call me "zoomer" and "newfag" and tell me to go back/

The hobby side was fun. Sort of like necrons in that they're hard to fuck up.
Gameplay wise not so much. 9th was all wardogs all the time. 10th was better balance-wise but they ruined the pachinko dread chart and buff stacking that was kino in 9th.

Scions if you're playing Bridgehead Strike to stack all of those buffs. Can't have an attached commander unless they're a 5-man though.
Kasrkin otherwise, they're more versatile and have a better commander unit.
>>98550075
Scions also have hotshot lasguns
Kasrkin have melta mines and the Marksman rifle on top of what the Scions have. The only unique thing Scions have is their sergeant having a power fist option.
It's more deep strike vs. scouts, scouts is more useful for guard.
>>98550084
>recommend as anti-tank
lascannon HWS with a command squad giving them fire orders so they hit on 4+
another Hippogriff, that main gun is very good and they can move out of return fire.
more tanks of all kinds
LR Vanquisher is dedicated anti-vehicle but the normal BT and Demolisher also do good work on that front.
>how many more tanks do you think I need if I get a baneblade?
You can turn your Baneblade into a commander (that can give orders) if you run the Steel Hammer detachment, but then you'd want to replace most of your roster with tankspam to take advantage of it.

For what you're after, you'd be better served with lascannon HWS, another Hippogriff or two and 2-3 more tanks (one of which being a commander). LR Commander is more "drive into the fray," Dorn Commander is more "sit back and throw shells." You can only give orders to tanks from tank commanders in most cases.

Those price increases will eventually kill the hobby. We went from a Space Marine Tactical Squad going from 30 euros to 50 euros in just 8 years. After the price increase a Tactical Squad in the EU is going to cost 52.50€.

Like pic rel used to be 60€ back in 8th edition. Soon a single tactical squad is going to cost the same as a tactical squad, venerable dreadnought and terminator captain used to cost during the 8th edition days.
>>
Anybody has a PDF of pic related? I hunger for more serious ork content
>>
>>98550195
Half of my GK are also metal. Though I only bought them after they became plastic but used metal GK 10 years ago cost 1/3rd of what new plastic ones cost so I bought a lot of them. Like 20 strike squaders for like 15 euros or something insane like that. Metal Grey Knight was also a great example of older plastic models just being worse than the metal models they replaced.

Wish I bought more of them especially termis.
>>
>>98550211

>>
>>98550211
The Trukk literally costs as much if not a little more than a start collecting box over here was in 8th
>>
>>98550152
Depends on how you're playing them
If your attached Castellan has Vanguard Honors, every vehicle is now a normal Taurox where the transport can advance and the units inside can disembark and then shoot all in your turn. The Castellan is very good and carries Cadian units a lot for me personally.
Kasrkin have more anti-tank than Scions (the landmine is quite good at killing a vehicle), if you can get them near the enemy (you can via reserve deployment in most cases) they're just a better unit.
Scions cannot take advantage of the Castellan (the best officer unit in the roster right now IMO) nearly as well as Kasrkin can.
>>
>>98550211
After the price increase the tactical squad is going to OOP
>>
>>98550220
I have plastic Dark Eldar models I bought from GW 15 years ago for literally half the price that they sell for now. For the exact same kits, not even new ones. And I know when they replace them they're going to bump the price another 50%

It's 67€ here in EU, while Start Collecting boxes were 60€ for most of 8th edition (in 2020 the better value boxes had their prices raised to 80€ while lower valued ones stayed at 60€)

Back in 8th edition you could get all the stuff from pic rel plus 4 easy to build ork boyz for 68€ just one euro more than what a Trukk costs now.
>>

The shrinkflation is real but actual UK inflation between 2018 and today was over 34% so it's not quite as outrageous as it first appears. Money loses value fast, and wages haven't kept up.
>>
>>98550274
It's about 59 f, so not really
>>
>>98550259
Let's just compare how much this start collecting box would cost nowadays. (remember 6 years ago you could still buy this box at 60€)

Painboy = well doesn't quite exist but painboss is is 34.50€
deff dread = 51.50€
nobz = 34.50€
boyz = 52€

The contents of this box would be 172.50€. That's over triple the price of what the start collecting box cost. We went from this much costing 60€ to 172.50€ in just 6 years.
>>
>>98550275
The wages not keeping up is the real sticking point underlying all of this aside from the fact that not only were GW models insanely overpriced even before the six month increases but the increases are higher than inflation so the inflation argument doesn't really hold that much water

>>98550331
After they nerfed Bridgehead Strike, kind of
They have Deep Strike and you can reroll all wound rolls if your target is on an objective marker. Kasrkin are a better "direct combat" unit, Scions are a better "diversionary tactic" unit (either as the trap or the bait).
They're 75 points for 5 guys, so a 5-man and an attached command squad costs 160 points and leaves 2 spaces in your transport and can use a Taurox Prime, which is very good on its own. A unit of Kasrkin and a Castellan is the same cost and leaves 1 space in your transport.
They're a casualty of GW not balancing anything properly more than "not worth it." I don't personally prefer them, but I can see where they'd edge out Kasrkins as well if only a few changes were made (namely giving a single-model commander to all regiments that isn't a Commissar because Commissars kind of suck).

well just to state it, rubric marines are basically dust people ghosts that get held together by as best i understand their attending sorcerers and magnus and co. and stuffed in their plate so as not to get everywhere like sand and then pointed around at shit to kill at the behest of their masters
so they don't really have too too much dynamic to them besides being opulent walking 'gyptian-looking battle sarcophagi, and that's pretty much their personality as it were, which though the right lens at least can be pretty cool i think
demonfolk are very animated and alive in comparison to a marine reduced to such a state in pretty much every way it's possible to be
>>
>>98550700
they dont
theyre just beastmen but even lamer
>>
>>98550701
sure did, lootas were fairly common in freebootas lists due to getting sustained hits on the looted objective. i expected them to do that to burnas as they werent particularly popular but to squad lootas was devastating, they have been a mainstay in orks forever

mechanicus standard grey doped slightly with a metallic of your choice, imo
though gw has portrayed it here as though the material possesses a uniform coloration throughout itself, with layers yet below, which may make a lot of sense as it's a very base sort of black that could reasonably be baked into the substance perhaps

Advanced Flesh Tone basecoat & Peach Flesh highlight from Pro Acryl make an amazing combo. A super watery muted red color washed into the sides of the face also sells the light hitting the skin effect of pale skin. Darkness and saturation of the red depends on the setting for your guy, like is he in doors or outdoors.

Variable. The highlands are stable, with a cold season and a hot season. The lowland mesas are prone to toxic dust storms and tend to be very dry. The deep wasteland teaches and abandoned hive cities have “Razorgusts” where occasionally sudden rushes of wind and breezes pulls bits of glass and metal up and into it, capable of eviscerating unprotected people and animals.

Craftworlds are about continent sized, if we assume Iyanden is roughly Africa sized it'd be 30.3km^2. We don't have populations for Iyanden, but we know it used to be the most populated craftworld before the big bad gorrible incident, but if we assume one billion Eldar lived there it would have a former density of 33 per square kilometer (roughly the density of Venezuela). The population was reduced by 4/5ths, so the living population is now 200,000,000 which grants a living population density of 6.6 (closest to Kazakhstan). Though, that's the density of LIVING Eldar, it'd probably be about equal counting wraith constructs.

I think I'll just do a drybrush/highlight of a grey for the undersuits, don't want do add too much contrast for stealth bois, but I'm gonna aim do a green and blue lenses for the helmet to add a little bit of colour and contrast so their no so one note.
>>
>>98551115
do you intend to do any freehand tau barcodery insignia shit or use transfers and what color might such features be?
>>
>>98551117
Grey will be the secondary colour for ranks and sept markings.
I'm aiming for it to be a bit lighter though since it's looking a bit drab on my current suits.
Mainly basing this of Farsight's sept world and the enclave colour scheme
>>
>>98551125
i'd say definitely don't be afraid to take it towards white. i like the hue of red with farsight in mind a lot but it deserves some pretty stark contrast, though less is probably more
not like white scar or whatever necessarily but a grey as such might not be too too adequate imo. something between.
otherwise those are fun choices for the eyes as it were
i'd think that pathfinders might be a little subdued in their coloration but you've clearly got a finger on that so yeah rock and roll

something like a stripe somewhere on the gun in the off-color might be cool idk
