They should just make an official Pokémon × Dungeons & Dragons crossover already and call it Gyms & Gyratinas.

Think about it. Gyms are just dungeons with a boss at the end. Badges are magic items that grant permanent benefits. Elite Four is a multi-stage dungeon crawl. The Pokémon League is a high-level tournament arc. Legendary Pokémon are basically ancient dragons/aberrations/celestials with region-wide influence. Team Rocket and the various evil teams are classic villain factions with hideouts, schemes, and mid-bosses.

The systems already line up cleanly:

HP -> Constitution / hit points
Attack -> Strength
Defense -> natural armor / Constitution for toughness
Sp. Atk -> Intelligence (or Charisma for the flashier specials)
Sp. Def -> Wisdom
Speed -> Dexterity

Type matchups become vulnerability and resistance tables. STAB is just a fighting style or feat bonus. Mega Evolution and Dynamax are perfect for legendary actions or temporary power-ups. Trainers are the player characters; Pokémon are either companions, summons, or alternate forms depending on how deep you want to go.

It would give D&D a fresh coat of paint without breaking the fantasy foundation, and it would give Pokémon actual tactical depth beyond “spam the super-effective move.” Both sides win. The only people who lose are the ones who treat “no crossovers ever” like it’s some sacred law of the universe.

Gyms & Gyratinas. Someone at WotC or Game Freak needs to greenlight this before the idea gets buried under another round of “muh pure settings” cope.

Bonus opening theme song:

3.5's Knight holds a special place in my heart for essentially being the "Fuck you, fight me or you have no honor bitch!"

I thoroughly believe it's defensive class skills would work as a fighting style but would the knight's challenge skills work well with the Valor Bard would would you make that into a fighting style as well?

I know it'll never happen, but Final Fantasy, Bravely Default, and Fire Emblem would be awesome IPs to be adapted to DnD.

Pokémon names have the same singular and plural form.

While I love that franchise, the central game mechanic just wouldn't work in a game where turns take longer than a second or two of animations. Skipping turns with Default would feel really awful

That is a good point, but I was thinking more about the classes and customization as opposed to the actual combat.

My approach was definitely different in some ways. The subclasses for theirs are split up by type of beast, while mine are split up by creature type. Mine also works off of my "Unchained Rules" Framework to be fair, a total overhaul meant to make 2024 more balanced in general, and more to my taste, and I'm playing in a group using them and the classes from it and so far feedback has been good. A few things needed buffs actually (Martials have abilities called Strikes based on 4e AoE powers and those got a buff from one roll of the weapon's damage to Prof bonus rolls, so my Paladin went from a 2d6 whirlwind to a 6d6 whirlwind since we're level 5), and my take on Shapeshifter is a martial. If you're curious (let's be real it's 4chan, who cares about one anon's shitbrew) you can find it here:

https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-Ousg3i7Q3SOJFY4b4Xh

I also have versions of Beguiler (Charisma half-caster), Spellsword (INT Half caster, and yes, it has Channel Spell), and Warlord (Yes, it can let people act out of turn) on my GM Binder. Again, this stuff is meant for use with my like 160 page Unchained Rules document which overhauls a lot of the core rules for 2024 and adds new Variant Rules. For example, unfucking circle casting without making it useless, or tweaking shittier feats to be worth taking (i.e. the Path feats).

I think making it into a Fighter Subclass would be the way to go so it can properly flex its defensive abilities, because 5e/2024 have moved away from 3.X's design philosophy of "this new class is just X existing class with a few new abilities" via subclasses.Off the cuff, something like picrel seems good (I used Charisma for the saves/uses because of the 3.X content but I'd personally make it Strength or a choice of STR/DEX for the saves and uses to make it more viable).

Maybe it won't suck, I dunno. Glancing at the website and how they're choosing to market it, apparently they're gonna trot out cosplayers at different show floors around the world. Which I don't care about.

The website also reveals the game is set in Darkon. And that's certainly an interesting choice. So we've got Tasha sponsoring a warlock in a lordless Domain of Dread. It's not a bad premise.

But I don't play vidya and that's not about to change, so none of this really matters to me.
>>
>>98566150
1. Idk wtf you mean by engine, but Ive played a ton of different systems.

2. No its not. Using a board and minis is literally one of the REASONS to play this game. If.yoy want mind's eye theatre or whatever, there are plenty of other systems designed with that in mind.

It's Darkon. It used to be run by an undead wizard king who ruled from a castle named after a circle of Hell, everything that dies turns undead, and the kingdom is in the process of being eaten up by fogbanks. CR1 imps aren't a huge deal.

I'm interested in creating a full caster character with the Zhentarim Ruffian feat and combining it with Alert to almost guarantee going first. The idea would be to start the fight with something like Web or Entangle, or a similar spell, while saving this strategy for the main encounter. I might even use Find Familiar to increase my chances of going first.
But the problem is... I feel like if I do this, the final big fight will be way too easy and it could ruin the session.
I just want to have fun without ruining everyone else's fun.

Lumi's Wondrous Wardrobe
1st-level conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S
Duration: 8 hours
You touch a willing creature and conjure a complete outfit of your design upon its body. The outfit can be of any style, complexity, apparent value, or material, including jewelry, cloaks, hats, footwear, uniforms, ceremonial vestments, noble attire, costumes, or other articles of clothing. It may also summon fashionable accessories such as parasols, umbrellas, canes, or small bags. The garments are magical creations and have no intrinsic monetary value.
The conjured outfit may resemble armor, shields, or other protective equipment, but grants no Armor Class bonus, protective properties, or other game benefits. Such items are treated as ordinary clothing for all purposes.
When the spell takes effect, any clothing, armor, accessories, or worn items currently on the target are harmlessly transferred into a harmless extradimensional space inaccessible by any means. Items carried but not worn are unaffected. When the spell ends, the conjured outfit vanishes and all stored items immediately return to the target in the same manner and arrangement in which they were worn when the spell was cast. If any returning item cannot occupy its original position, it appears in the nearest unoccupied space within 5 feet of the target. The target can dismiss the conjured outfit as an action, ending the spell immediately. Articles removed from the wearer vanish if taken more than ten feet from them.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you may target one additional willing creature for each slot level above 1st. All targets must be within your reach when you cast the spell and the outfits produced need not be identical.

Lumi's Conjured Kelpie
2th-level conjuration (ritual)
Casting Time:1 minute
Range: 30 feet
Components:V, S
Duration:1 hour
A Large quasi-real, aquatic creature appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within range. You decide the creature's appearance, but it is equipped with a saddle or howdah of some kind. Any of the equipment created by the spell vanishes in a puff of smoke if it is carried more than 10 feet away from the steed. For the duration, characters may ride the creature. The creature uses the statistics for ariding horse except its speed on land is 20, it can breath underwater and it has a swim speed. The creature's swim speed is determined by the amount of weight it can carry per the below. When the spell ends, the steed gradually fades, giving the rider(s) 1 minute to dismount. The spell ends if you use an action to dismiss it or if the steed takes any damage. The caster chooses one of the following options when the spell is cast. If the steed carries more than its capacity its Speed is reduced to 0 and it begins to sink.

>>98568706
3/?

Lumi's Bewitching Broomflight
3rd-level transmutation
Casting Time:1 action
Range:Touch
Components:V, S, M (a rod-shaped object)
Duration:Concentration, up to 10 minutes
You touch a wand, staff, broom, or other roughly rod shaped object. The object transforms into a broom of flying for the duration. The broom counts as an arcane focus while the rider is astride it. When the spell ends, the rider falls if it is still aloft, unless it can stop the fall and the broom returns to its original form.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you increase the speed of the broom by 10 and increase its maximum duration by 10 minutes.

Broom of Flying
Wondrous Item, uncommon
This wooden broom, which weighs 3 pounds, functions like a mundane broom until you stand astride it and speak its command word. It then hovers beneath you and can be ridden in the air. It has a flying speed of 50 feet. It can carry up to 400 pounds, but its flying speed becomes 30 feet while carrying over 200 pounds. The broom stops hovering when you land.
You can send the broom to travel alone to a destination within 1 mile of you if you speak the command word, name the location, and are familiar with that place. The broom comes back to you when you speak another command word, provided that the broom is still within 1 mile of you.

Lumi's Marvelous Motercar
3rd-level conjuration (ritual)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M (a small key)
Duration: 8 hours (Concentration)
You conjure an immaculate enclosed automobile in an unoccupied space within range. The horseless coach may be of any apparent construction or appearance but must fit within a 10 by 10 cube. The horseless coach is a nonmagical vehicle created through conjuration and can carry up to 1000 pounds of passengers and cargo. It provides comfortable shelter from ordinary weather conditions, such as rain, wind, and snow, but offers no special protection against extreme environments or magical effects.
The horseless coach is driven by the caster or by another character as though it were a mount. It has an AC of 10, an HP of 1, and move at a speed of 60. It travels overland at 6 miles per hour regardless of load (9 miles per hour on a fast pace). If the coach is reduced to 0 HP it stops moving and deposits its passengers and any cargo safely on the ground one minute later.

Lumi's World-Class Workbench
2nd-level conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 10 feet
Components: V, S, M (a pair of goggles)
Duration: 24 hours
You conjure a magical workbench measuring 10 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 3 feet high. Upon it appear magical versions of every set of artisan's tools with which you are proficient.
While using the workbench and its tools, you double your proficiency bonus for any ability check you make using those tools and may work to produce any item or equipment that could be produced in a fully stocked workshop of the type corresponding to the tool at the normal rate, without needing a forge, kiln, workshop, or other specialized equipment. The workbench alone and its magical tools act in any necessary way to permit one to craft as though in a stocked workshop with triphammers, forges, spinning wheels, stations for preparing leather, or so on.
A tool removed from the workbench immediately disappears and reappears on the workbench. If you move more than ten feet from the workbench all of its tools disappear until you or another creature approaches the workbench, at which time its tools are replaced by magical versions of every set of artisan's tools that creature is proficient with. Only one character may benefit from the workbench at a time. It is otherwise an ordinary, sturdy workbench and disappears when the spell ends.

She's from a setting me and some friends are writing to use in one shots. Its a world that is more advanced than normal D&D worlds [tech level between 1600-1900, no electricity or combustion but gunpowder, advanced mechanical technology, widespread Common magic items, or cantrips depending on the country]. Rail travel doesn't exist but airships and early automobiles exist as rare magic items. Most people travel by coach. The main country is a land called Norcastle, a human kingdom that a century ago waged a fantasy version of World War I through the invention of Warforged which in this setting are made by ripping people's souls out to put into robots. Norcastle is basically Rohan or Gondor if it developed into a Charkles Dickens novel. Lots of coal powered technology and magical automatons/tanks/powered armor. Think the Fire Nation for their approximate tech level. Lumilope is from Weavewood, an island nation of humans with heavy dwarven admixture giving them long lives and very dwarflike psychologies and very short but still human heights (the Weavish range from 4'8 to 5'6 and basically never reach six foot). While Norcastle is the world's military superpower, Weavewood has the highest quality of life due to being the first nation to introduce universal modern-style education. Part of this resulting in every Weavish knowing one cantrip, which alongside more advanced technologies such as rubber, concrete, and various mechanical tech makes it comically pleasant in comparison. We've said its like comparing Oliver Twist to Kiki's Delivery Service.

One of my favorite parts of Weavewood is its one of the only nations (other than Sarius, a full-blooded dwarven nation) to use magic lighting instead of fire/oil lamps/gas lamps for lighting. Resulting in a very modern look to its cities versus the more militarily inclined Norcastle whose cities are largely dark at night.

Divine Miracle: Your pious ways and faith in your god can manifest themselves in the form of miracles. While you are the conduit, the focus lens, through which magical effects and spells are cast, the miracle itself comes from your god and you must pray for the Spell itself to happen.

Your maximum spell level and number of known Cantrips scale like a Wizard’s, but you do not use Spell Slots. As you only need to focus the divine power into a single point, you have access to the entire Cleric Spell List. However, your body can only produce so many magical effects, so you still need to prepare a list of spells you can cast. When you do so, choose a number of cleric spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your cleric level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which a Wizard of level equal to yours would have Spell Slots.

You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of cleric spells requires time spent in prayer and meditation: at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list.

Instead of Spell Slots, you have a Divine Conduit Stability Level (DCSL) equal to your Wisdom Modifier. This represents both your body and mind’s ability to resist getting obliterated by the will of a god using a mortal’s faith to cast magic. When casting a Spell using your Divine Miracle feature, Wisdom is your Spellcasting Modifier.

>>98572184
At the start of your Turn, you must make a Religion Check, adding your Cleric Level, instead of your Proficiency Bonus, to the roll. This represents your current Divine Favour. There are several Difficulty Checks to pass and the higher you roll the higher your Spell Level for casting spells will be. Gods can be fickle, busy, tied down by divine bureaucracy, cruel or perhaps simply unwilling to grant you the divine miracle of casting Mass Cure Wounds when you need it the most.

You cannot cast a spell of a higher Spell Level than your current Class Level maximum.

Casting a non-Cantrip Cleric Spell will lower your DCSL by 1. At 0 DCSL, you may still cast spells using your Divine Miracle feature. Doing so lowers your DCSL into the negatives. Your Negative DCSL is equal to half your Constitution Modifier (rounded Up, maximum of 3). If your DCSL reaches -4, you die and your soul is frayed to tatters. Nothing short of Reincarnation or a Wish will bring you back.

Rolling a Natural 1 on your Divine Favour Check will lower your DCSL by 1 (this can never bring you into the negatives) and only Cantrips will be castable, while a Natural 20 means that your DCSL will be unaffected (nor will Negative DCSL be raised) when casting a Spell for that Round.

You fully restore your DCSL on a Long Rest. Once per Day, you can also increase your current DCSL by half, up to its maximum, on a Short Rest. If your DCSL is in the negatives, you can only restore it on a Long Rest.

That's Artificer and Cleric done. Now for Ranger and Warlock.

Closest thing is basically just reverse-engineering the CR via the DMG guidelines, and then adjusting up or down to a new CR.

That said, since some of the aspects of the Duergar are things like Enlarge or Invisibility that naturally increase CR, my suggestion for the simpler way to do it would be to take a CR 1/8 statblock like the bandit, and then add on the Duergar and Alchemist traits.
>>
>>98572188
The Divine Favour Religion Check DC for 1st Level Spells is 11. Rolling below the check means only Cantrips can be cast for that Round. For 2nd Level it is 13, for 3rd Level it is 15, for 4th Level it is 17, for 5th Level it is 20, for 6th Level it is 23, for 7th it is 26, for 8th it is 30 and for 9th it is 34. Passing the DC Check for a Spell Level that a Wizard of equal Class Level would not have access to does nothing.
>>
>>98572311>>98572188

Just like how a god can punish a believer whose interests go against their Divine Portfolio, so can a god reward the faithful Cleric who is acting out their will and plans perfectly. When rolling for Divine Favour, you have Advantage on the check if you are fighting enemies of your god, be they Fiends, Undead, followers of a hostile religion, a specific Race or even a specific person or ally of said person. If your Alignment is the same as your god’s, Two times Per Day, when you roll a Natural 1 on your Divine Favour Check, you may roll again and you must use the new roll. When an allied Creature, whose Alignment matches your god’s, is reduced to half HP for the first time this Combat, hit by a Critical or reduced to 0 Hit Points, the Difficulty Check for all Spell Levels, for your next Divine Favour Check is reduced by 2, this effect can stack.

Got a paladin, two clerics and a stars druid

How harsh is it to blindside them with a monster that's immune to/healed by radiant damage? It's a golem made from the remains of the chardalyn dragon.

The casters will be fine, problem is the paladin.

I think Druid is honestly fine with his normal Spellcasting, as is Wizard.
Ranger suggestions are to make him a non-combat magic specialist, with faster Ritual Spells access and a Spell List that features mostly 1 minute+ Casting Times.
Sorcerer can just be moved to Spell Points or you could even increase his Sorcerer Points and use that in place of Spell Slots completely.
Paladin could use the Divine Miracle system, but since they share a lot in common with Sorcerers, just using their sheer willpower and vows in place of biology to cast spells, perhaps *they* can be moved to Spell Points.
Warlocks just need more speciation based on their Patron. Eldritch Blast, Invocations and Pact Boons should be influenced by your Patron to a degree.
The real weird one is Bards. I got no fun gimmick for either a full caster or half caster version. You could maybe take a page out of Collage of Maestro https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/bard:maestro and completely remove Spellcasting and instead give them Combat-Wide effects via manipulating the sound of a battle into music.
>>
>>98572640

Bards being focused on Concentration spells seems like it'd be a good fit. You could probably also pair that with class features that give them a bonus while concentrating on a spell, to represent their concentration being in the form of an inspiring song.

I don't know if Vicious Mockery needs to be like Eldritch Blast, although the Bard would probably need something to spend their turns on if they're busy concentrating rather than casting new spells.

maybe besides bonuses based on Concentrating on a Spell, they can also Concentrate on additional Bard Spells as they gain Levels? If you want Mass Haste, use a Bard and he'll hook you up while massively buffing the entire party because of how intense of a spell song chaining spells is
>>
Level 2 Class Feature Font of Magic moved to Level 1, replaces Spell Slot Spellcasting, Level 3 Class Feature Metamagic moved to Level 2. Additional Metamagic Option at level 7 and level 13. Level 20 Class Feature Sorcerous Restoration changed.

Font of Magic functions like Spell Points Casting, but using Sorcerer Points instead. Sorcerer Points scale in the same way as Spell Points would on a full-caster. A number of times equal to half of your Constitution Modifier per Day, you can recover a number of Sorcerer Points equal to your Constitution Score (up to half of your Maximum number of Sorcerer Points), when you complete a Short Rest.

If your Race, Background or Feat lets you cast a Spell, it counts as a Sorcerer Spell for you, you always have it prepared, you can cast it using Sorcerer Points and it doesn’t count against the number of Sorcerer Spells you know.

Level 20 Class Feature Sorcerous Restoration now lets you recover a number of Sorcerer Points at the start of your turn equal to your Constitution Modifier, up to your Constitution Score.

Here is Sorcerer, he is still bound by Spell Point limitations like 6th Level and above Spells all being once per Long Rest, but he is overflowing with magic and can evocation spam like no one else at higher levels.
>>
>>98573178
Maybe, though that could get rather messy unless the spell list was kept very strict.
Part of the reason for introducing Concentration spells was specifically to avoid buff-stacking or otherwise overloading the battlefield with powerful effects.

My thinking was that by tying the concentration itself to a class feature, that gives you a way to buff the entire party off of what would normally be a single-target spell.
I don't know if the effect should mimic the main spell in some way, like giving everyone a speed boost while concentrating on Haste, or if it should be a list the Bard gets to pick from, where you could give the party a speed boost during Haste, or you could give them temp HP or a bonus to saves instead.
>>
>>98573252
both require a lot of work.
A list means basically reinventing Metamagic but centered around buffs instead of battlefield control or extra damage.
Spell Specific Buffs means going through every spell of a full caster's spell list and manually adding an effect that might also scale based on Spell Slot or Class Level or if the target has an Inspiration die or not.
The latter would feel much more satisfying, especially if you add two effect per spell, one with or without Inspiration Die. Everyone loves magical effects that chain together and cause even bigger effects. Outward Magic, Rimworld VPE Phaseshift, Divinity Original Sin Totems, etc.
Thing - Thing - Thing =ok
Thing+Thing - Thing =cool
Thing+Thing+Thing =awesome
>>
>>98573178
>>98573252
Don't let them concentrate on multiple spells, let them switch to a different concentration spell without expending a spell slot if they're actively maintaining concentration and they pass a performance check based on the spell level they want to swap to.

If you want to get really spicy, let them do it as a bonus action.
>>
>>98573309
True. Having it be a list the Bard picks from would be the easiest option, though also inherently less interesting than having it be tied to the specific spell.

A way I could see it working is having the spell, having a minor effect that the Bard grants to everyone under the effect of that spell, and then someone in the area being able to spend an Inspiration Die in order to gain the effect of that spell for a round.
So if the Bard is concentrating on Haste, perhaps that gives the party a speed boost or adds 1d4 to Dex saves as the minor buff, but then one person other than the Hasted character can spend Inspiration in order to get one extra action plus the full benefits of Haste.

The only flaw there is it wouldn't work for offensive Concentration spells like Hold Person or Sleep, though perhaps that could be incorporated as spending an Inspiration when hitting an enemy in order to temporarily apply the effect to them if they fail a saving throw.
Some of the offensive spells are also questionable in terms of what minor buffs might fit.

>>98573341
I like it, though I feel like this would be a better approach if it were for making Bard a half-caster, as a way to give them a higher quantity of spells throughout the day by letting them re-use a slot, in a sense.
Not sure how I feel about a Bard potentially upgrading a Sleep spell into True Polymorph.
>>
>>98573386
if Bard is made half-caster, what class exclusive spells are lost? Do they have something only a Bard can cast? If they don't, becoming a Half-Caster would
1. Cuts my work in half because less Con Spells to rework (remember Magical Secrets turns stolen spells into Bard Spells so they are affected by the Spell Song effect)
2. Means hot-swapping Con Spells on a bonus action is much less egregious because you have less Spell Slots to play with.
I like >>98573341 needing to pass a Performance Check to hot-swap, feels much more involved than Countercharm's flavor.
>>
>>98573484
Looking over the list, the only truly Bard-exclusive spells are Vicious Mockery, Dissonant Whispers, and Compulsion, all of which are 4th level and below. And of those only Compulsion is concentration.
It is worth noting that some spells like Glibness which is only for Bard and Warlock, which I think leans more towards being a Bard spell. There are other spells on the list which Bard only shares with one other class, but it's usually stuff like Resurrection with Cleric which is more of a Cleric spell, or Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion with Wizard which is very much a Wizard spell.

The existence of Magical Secrets would heavily complicate trying to give every Concentration spell a specific party-wide buff effect either way.

Think I found myself a decent enough DM, but he's kinda spineless when it comes to filtering for players. First thing we tried included two other randoms and one of his buddies, who turned out to be a stoner. One of the other two randoms had only shown up once across several weeks and instead of doing the smart thing and replacing him it kinda just dragged on. Stoner friend left on a trip for a couple weeks, game ground to a halt. Came back, but he was "busy" game night. Think that game is dead.

Second one seems better but it's just gotten started. He's still shit at filtering though, I think he literally just takes whoever messages first. We got a guy whose only experience with D&D is from BG3, a normal guy, and then we had two slav-sounding euros. One of those had the WORST mic I'd ever heard and that's when it worked, he didn't make it beyond the Session 0 character creation but was an asshole and dipped on us the day of our first proper session. The other one has a mix of a very thick accent with a fairly shitty mic, plus can just be unresponsive sometimes.

Unfortunately, it was an awful year for personal reasons, so the only thing that got revised in the latest update was, fittingly enough, artificer.

https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/WYL_vcnY3bcN

>why maneuvers
There are a couple of reasons. One of the most significant ones is balance--it's hard to justify giving maneuvers to paladins and rangers and leaving artificer with nothing. But maneuvers also do good work in differentiating your artificer from your wizard by adding a mechanical angle to "theorist versus engineer". A transmutation wizard might be able to brew potions, but an alchemist can throw flasks at people mid-combat and bestow a few different effects. Much like an artificer's spellcasting is meant to focus on the use of material components to create magical effects, there's an unwritten conceit that an artificer's maneuvers might represent a slightly more magical side of the effects that they produce. Besides, artificers are all about tool use and weapons are just a kind of tool.

But I'd also disagree with characterizing an artificer PC as your run-of-the-mill potion seller, for the same reason a rogue PC isn't just your run-of-the-mill street urchin. By the time you're pulling off truly impressive stunts, especially with the halved progression, you're at a high enough level that it would be more surprising for you not to.

>Tony Stark
I don't really into capes, but I would be a little shocked to hear of a superhero who DOESN'T just toss people around like sacks of potatoes.

>>98563169
I usually do artificial encounters with virtual dice because they're much faster, but I decided to use physical dice this time and noticed something interesting: the fights are harder with real dice for some reason. I don't understand why. I tested the virtual dice by making huge numbers of rolls, like 10,000d20, and they give basically the expected average. No idea, maybe it was just bad luck?
>>
>>98580764
"Artificial encounters"?
>>
>>98579283
I suppose I understand. If Paladin can get it, Artificer should too. It helps that Manoeuvres are divided by Class and Subclass so you can have Artificer-y Manoeuvres. But what about Warlock? You changed how many Spells you can cast with Pact Magic and that was enough to exclude him? Or was it more because of his minion/cultist class identity?
What if he was kept the exact same as vanilla and then given manoeuvres? Pact of the Blade gives you multiattack so it should be fine?

A Short Rest is not a full day’s of rest for a Level 3+ Player Character. I do not think it is believable for a top-notch soldier or warrior to need 24 hours to recover from a brawl, never mind the next Merlin or Orlando
>>
>>98581166
Until you reach 0 HP, you're at your full capacity of action. If you can still stand and move forward, that doesn't break the Merlin or Orlando issue. Merlin and Orlando not being always in tip-top shape but fighting on anyway is exatly what makes them goddamn heroes.

Top-notch soldiers and warriors had a couple hours of fighting a day, broken down in MINUTES of engagement. Even ignoring GR finally auto-balancing the never-actually-done 6/8 combat encounter a day issue, that's a sensible point of narrative reference to build a game on.

Your Merlinitude or Orlanditude would simply be gaining level and being able to be effective for longer periods of time due to more HP and more Spell Slots/Features being stretched out longer before the need for a rest

If there's just going to be 1 'Swarm of Wolves', then you're better off just having them individually be wolves/dire wolves so that the party actually feels outnumbered and surrounded.
If they're up against some werewolf overlord and his army of wolves, then having 4 'Swarms of Wolves' moving around independently is a good way to avoid needing 80 individual wolf models on the map.

I'm going with a ghostrunner/get backer idea. Kinda like a retrieval specialist/magical artifact hunter. He would also be a bit of a pioneer in a particular set of skills that he formalizes into a discipline (ironically due to lore reasons).

Mechanically: Soulknife + Weave Slinger fits that really well. Mobile, long range but not useless in melee, hard to disarm (psychic knives), telepathy for scouting, and expertise + psychic dice makes the skill checks very reliable. In combat the basic idea is psychic knife (vex) -> real dagger (nick) -> still have the bonus action for arcane cascade, cunning action or another psychic knife. Mariner fighting style would also be useful here (climbing/swimming through ruins, caves, rooftops, etc.).

Lore-wise: basically a high elf whose psychic abilities were somewhat ignored in favor of the more usual straightforward arcane approach. Instead of dropping them, he kept developing them and eventually figured out how to formalize them into an arcane/martial discipline of his own (hence Soulknife + Magus).

That naturally pushed him toward retrieval work: getting into difficult places, finding magical artifacts, figuring out what they do and getting back out with them. So less conventional spellsword, more arcane explorer/hunter gish.

Also, I think such concept kinda fits the power level/scale of a campaign starting at level 6.

>Level 10: Retaliation: When you take damage from a creature that is within 5 feet of you, you can take a Reaction to make one melee attack against that creature, using a weapon or an Unarmed Strike.
>Zhentarim Tactics: Retaliate. Immediately after a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, you can make an Opportunity Attack against that creature.
Retaliate from Zhentarim Tactics and the Level 10 Retaliation feature from the Berserker Barbarian, do they stack?
For example, imagine there are several enemies with Multiattack. You get hit twice, and you're probably using Reckless Attack.
First hit: You use Retaliate from Zhentarim Tactics, spending an Opportunity Attack, and hit the enemy back.
Second hit: You use the Berserker's Retaliation feature, spending your Reaction, and hit the enemy a second time.
Then it's your turn, and you hit the enemy twice more if you're at least level 5.
So you'd get four attacks against that enemy in the same round.
Does this actually work, or am I misunderstanding something?

An Opportunity Attack uses your Reaction, barring a specific Fighting Style from Unearthed Arcana

Okey thank you
Still a good feat for a non-berserk barbarian, like zealot

I've been trying to write a adventure, would you be able to take a look at it? My biggest problem is the formatting of the adventure itself. Is it good for a DM to read and use? Is it structured well?

I've tossed it into ai and gotten a super short version too, which is in another tab. First tab is the character creation rules (a mix of 5e and 5.5e) second is my attempt to write and the third is the ai tab

Does this sofar look like a pre-written adventure you would run? How is the formatting of the adventure?
