Are all barbarians psychopaths? How do they justify their violence and worldview unless they are missing a few screws?
>>98568064>hype self up during a fight by thinking really angry>"omg you're a sociopath!"
>>98568064They get possessed.
>>98568064If anything, those are adventurers at large.
>>98568064They're shroom addicts cast out from society like the viking berserkers
>puckee thread
>>98568064This is very clearly AI slop
>>98568091they gotta learn to control their anger!!
>>98568064Most psychopaths are not violent.
>>98568064Why would fighting and killing people angrily be morally worse than fighting and killing people calmly?>>98568631They control their anger so well it literally empowers them and can be activated when needed.
>>98568064>barbariansits the berserker class or fighter class with the berserker kit but badly name and distorted; its bullshit. A barbarian class cannot be all berserkers.
>>98568064its dey culcha
>>98568064not a great comparison psychopaths arent really defined by rage as their main disability is their mind being wired in a different way that lets them logically come to conclusions other people would view as madness. The party Rogue or Wizard are more likely to be psychos. But to answer your question barbarians both in fantasy and historically typically come from a hard sometimes nomadic background where a might makes right attitude is necessary for success or survival. They are explosively violent because that is the norm, and to do otherwise is a sign of weakness they could have negative consequences for them. As such your typical barbarian is incredibly strong, hardy, and good at keeping himself alive but will lack the martial talents of more professional martials like fighters paladins and rangers who would have training and experience from being in militaries, arenas, knight orders or just plain schools.
Fuck off.
>>98568064>barbariansThey took the berserker class/kit/archetype/role and made into a diablo class and called it barbarian and made them into whatever.barbarian proper class/kit/archetype is not a berserkera berserker could be a "barbarian" as in belonging to some outsider culture.
>>98568064Oh look, Puckee is spamming is art again while asking pointless time wasting questions without adding anything to the discussion. You really cannot be fucked to even start a conversation about barbarians by having something to add, can you? I wish you'd get perma'd off this site already. A thread died for this.
>>98568064>>98568066This looks like shit.
>>98568064Read Conan. Well written barbarians aren't violent and low IQ murderhobos. They're explorers defined by their strong force of wills, their desire for freedom, and their desire to live life to their fullest.Barbarians ironically tend to fit into the Philospher Warrior King archetype. They may not be classically educated, but they're experienced, worldly, and wise. https://youtu.be/Gk5Gq3PJTkIThis excerpt from a Conan boom sums up the Barbarian lifestyle pretty well imo
>>98568064>Nature is savage and wild>A person closer to nature is by definition savage and wild.>But growing up in a close knit tribal community and closer to the earth also means they have a wisdom that more civilized people lack. Most real world barbarians were just mindless rape machines, but fiction is fiction and you can make a noble savage if you really want.
>>98568064>How do they justify their violence and worldview unless they are missing a few screws?
>>98568064Every single fucking religion before Buddhism and Christianity were about aristocratic asshole gods who loved warriors and conquerors above everyone else and people who weren't heroes (read: great killers) were just doomed to wallow in the darkness of the underworld forever.Despite this, I doubt any big human group in history has ever majorly consisted of psychopaths. It's just not possible. Xenophon's ten thousand , Genghis Khan's hordes, The redcoats in the 19th century, etc, despite all taking their part in plenty of murdering, raping and pillaging, were likely mostly comprised of normal, stable, mentally healthy people. The fact that someone today would have to be an abnormal, unstable, fucked up motherfucker to actually act like they did is not proof that they were psychopaths, it's just proof that our cultural and social conditioning is extremely effective.

Your commissions — my ass; what's the difference?
>>98576242I didn't fuck his commissions with my bbc
Holy crap, this looks like SHIT!
>>98568064read what historical berserkers were like.that's your answer.
if only there was some like, super accessible fantasy series split into easily digestible short stories that go into explicit detail about "barbarian" psychology and served as the inspiration for D&D barbarians.
>>98583025conan is really a very bad example as per the dnd barbarian. Tbh the class should have been named berserker from the start.Conan's barbarian is an outsider to the civilised world, not less clever or cunning than civilised people but not caught up in their trapping questioning everything about their ways and societies unwilling to fit in for any serious period of time. This is most definitely not what the dnd class represents with its skills, class features, equipment etc
>>98583094Conan is literally the entire reason the barbarian class exists, however, the barbarian class is not "Conan" its CONAN!!! It's based on the shitty comic books they started making after Robert E Howard's death that turned the character into a bumbling retard caveman brute forcing his way through everything. I agree though it should just be called berserker. You should not be forced to have an ultra specific backstory for your class, a crazy soldier or bar brawler can easily become a berserker as well.
>>98583131yeah i didnt know about the comics, not really a fan, i ve only read the books. The class was indeed probably named barbarian due to conan but i dont think this was the only reason it existed since people wanted to play barbarian characters (not necessarily conan) since the days of 1e
blow it out yer ass
>>98583094Barbs are cool though
In fantasy, mostly yes. In real world, "barbarian" was just a catch all term to describe less civilized nations and peoples.
>>98584493Do you think vikings, Germanic tribes and Mongols and Huns were all sociopaths?
>>98584496not sociopaths, psychopaths
>>98568064>How do they justify their violence>"They started it!"
