>>98574745TQ other than wrath/damnation or cyc rift & evac (pic rel) I haven't played many in a long time. its been a long time since I did a red destroy all lands cyc rift usually ends up letting you get open to win the game with commander damage. with the modern onions and/ or literal gay homos playing magic I think if you destroy the lands they would freak out
I don't run boardwipes. Why would I want to kill my creatures?
>>98574745https://archidekt.com/decks/25375090/chrono_shenanigansI really wish I could run world purge in dimir since upheaval is banned. I run a few bounce effects, and several time spiral effects, often stranding them with no non-land permanents and a random hand.
Wizards had one job and they blew it.
>>98574745>TQ: What are your experiences with board wipes and cards that effectively reset the game?My experience is they usually create more novel gamestates where it's a race to figure out who can re-establish fastest, as well as seeing what some decks do when on low resources. Unfortunately most MTG players are children who only like number-go-up.

>ban most of the banlist>bring back the old tuck rule>bring back the old legendary rule>ban UB by defaultThere. I fixed the format.
>>98574803What do you mean by that?
>>98574808this has been debunkedsince lord of the rings inspired magic directly, it and the hobbit are not truly "UB". final fantasy is also directly inspired by Tolkien so its like a Japanese cousin to MTG, there for not "UB" like ninja turtles or marvel is or even worse shit like The Office secret payer dropadditionally DnD replaced the 2022 core set but it would "technically" be "UB" even though its a 2nd party to mtg now. facts:LOTR/Hobbit, FF & DnD are NOT "UB"
>>98574836I remember the cars in LOTR
Truth is the world, story, and lore of Magic have always been boring shit. Adding 3rd party stuff to the game makes it way more interesting.
>>98574857This is wrong, also, it didn't happen.
>Green is a tree >Blue is water >Red is fire >Black is a swamp >White is plain Woah, such deep lore, so original
>>98574857This is right, also, this is why UB happened.
>>98574848I have never played that final fantasy game nor have any idea what it references final fantasy 1-10, maybe 11 if you were into MMORPGs 20 years ago and Tactics are core final fantasy. just like LOTR & the Hobbit books are but RANGS OF POWER is not
>>985748977 is full of tech shit.
>>98574897tactics not being included in FF was a crime
Post decks instead of arguing about UB

>>98574946cute commander, linkup when
>>98574955yeah I need to take a picture of two of my other decks but my phone is a little busted
>>98574900there is nothing wrong with that. in 4 the paladin & dark night go to the fuckin moon. 6 has mech's along side Espers (summons like Efrit and Shiva not the color combo)7 is cyberpunk, 8 is futuristic, 10 is a bit futuristic. but none of them are completely removed from high fantasy. you have magic, you fight with swords, you summon monsters you fight wolves and ghosts and evil fuckers. 7 just has slight cyber punk sheen to it or whatever the fuck they call itand NOT the remake horseshit
>>98574836>since lord of the rings inspired magic directlyYou're gay dude, you're a full on homosexual and none of your friends in real life respect you.
>>98574962What happens when multiple theft decks face off? Do you just pray the other guy has some decent finishers for you to steal?

>>98574745>TQI was introduced to mtg by some college friends after the mono-colored precons were printed. After we had been playing regularly for a month or 2 we played a match where everyone picked a different mono color precon and there was a point where every other turn cycle someone was using picrel to stop the one person that had pulled ahead after the last nuke. All of us got a turn and none of us were having fun. I've yet to play a symmetrical board wipe since

>>98575130red still doesnt have enchantment removalgreen still doesnt have board wipes for non flyers blue still doesnt have enchantment removal white still has shitty draw and hasn't had a new counterspell in agesall colors other than green really dont have any good land tutors, (white has some ok catchup ones)that retard monger mark rosewater is trying his damnest to keep the fictional idea of a colorpie (rather than infinitely blending hues in a prism) more now than any other time in magic history. this is also why reality fracture will suck major ass and not be planar chaos 2: reduxin b4 Larry Niven's disk, zuko's exile, pony boy or wayfair's cupboard
>>98575187Going to use this excuse with star trek and EOE
>>98575221"Color pie means nothing" is what retards say when blue deck casts Pongify but never when the red deck casts Chaos Warp (pie break explicitly printed to address how shit red was in Commander)
>brew deck>half way through the decklist I notice through how many hoops I'm jumping>will be facing absolute brain dead value engines>scrap the entire listmany such cases.
>>98575240Unironically Pongify is more of a break than Chaos warp because they KEEP FUCKING PRINTING NEW GODDAMN VERSIONS OF PONGIFY. If you make a mistake once, and never do it again, then it's easy to forgive you. If you make a mistake over and over, all whilst loudly saying "This was a mistake" every damn time, then you're either lying, an idiot, or a lying idiot.
>>98575242yeah I don't see draw or play the top card in the text box there
>>98575256or free value for breathing air
>>98575252Name four.
>>98575252>If you make a mistake once, and never do it again
>>98575272hate these OCs inserted into the BG set imo
>>98575272That card has existed for 4 years? How have I never heard of it?Also, that card is SIGNIFICANTLY worse than Chaos warp, in basically every metric aside from CMC. Probably why I've never heard of it.Pongify on the other hand has had a functional reprint, and a "Sidegrade" that ended up being arguably better due to increased versatility.
>>98575275Minsc is a pretty old character in BG anon
>>98575284>Costs less and doesn't put what you remove back in rotation>Worse
>>98575284>Why have I never heard of it?Because it's not a top 10 EDHrec card reprinted in every precon and if you're running literally any other color you would rather run something else.
>>98575290Reread the card. Unlike chaos warp, it is WAY harder to whiff. It reveals until it finds something that shares a type with what you destroyed and puts that out. Destroying a card is also a lot worse than tucking it, since it's way, WAY easier to get something out of the yard than it is the deck. Destroying also means it cant deal with anything indestructible, which in my experience is actually a decently common use case for Chaos warp. Getting something from the deck is also in no way dependent on the target actually getting destroyed, so if your target somehow gets indestructible at instant speed, then you just give them a free card. 2R and RR are also roughly the same difficulty in terms of getting the requisite mana to cast the spell, so even the cost isn't a strict upgrade. So yes, it is absolutely worse than chaos warp. The literal only upsides it has over chaos warp come with asterisks attached to them, one of which is MASSIVE
>>98575302Honestly, chaos warp is good even outside of monored decks. Being able to deal with literally any permanent at instant speed, even through indestructible is hard to argue with. Even with the slight chance of it blowing up in your face hilariously (IMO This is not a downside).
>make an initial list>play it for awhile>try to improve it>make it worse
>>98575316>It's easier to-Okay and how many decks do you play against that run any sort of reanimation, let alone enchantment reanimation? The obvious counterpoint is that GY hate costs 0 mana but Tormod's Crypt is suspiciously absent from most lists.
>>98575321>3 manaFor that cost I could run multiple white spells, Beast Within (retroactive pie break after it was decided green no longer gets "destroy target permanent"), or any number of orzhov/golgari spells.>But indestructible! How many indestructible enchantments are you facing?
>>98575330I saw this card today and thought I'd hit the fucking motherload and wondered how I'd never heard about it before until I read the card for the third time
>>98575330Not a ton. However I do regularly go up against multiple decks that can extremely easily get back artifacts or creatures from the graveyard. Including one that can just straight up WIN if the right cards are in the graveyard at the right time. Often I'm facing more than one of these at the same time. Hell, there's occasionally games where literally every single player is running a deck that uses a graveyard as a resource.Everyone also has at least a couple grave hate cards in their deck as a result. Either total nukes, or targeted "Get rid of that specific thing" cards. Rakdos charm and Bojuka bog being perennial favorites in basically every deck that can run 'em.>>98575335Chaos warp doesn't JUST hit indestructible enchantments you retard. It can hit indestructible ANYTHING. Yeah you can run other shit, but having an all-in-one "Get rid of that specific shit right now" card is good to have in any deck that can run it
>>98575373>Keeps harping on about indestructibleStatic indestructible is only relevant on a handful of cards while the vast majority of the time protection comes packaged with hexproof rendering this a moot point. The fact you leave your opponent with anything useful at all means that Chaos Warp is the worst option in that slot.
>>98575385Indestructible is only "Relevant on a handful of cards" until you're facing down something that has it you can't do shit about. Which WILL happen more often then you think if you're entirely unprepared for it.Also, forgive me for doubting your abilities in determining the relevance of cards, but you may or may not be the same guy, but you seem to think that ANY form of reanimation is so rare that it's not even worth considering the possibility of going up against it when building a deck, so your opinion on what cards are and aren't relevant isn't particularly valuable.
>>98575373That's cute but also not backed by real numbers given that WotC packages Soul-Guide Lantern in every other precon yet people will run 1x Bojuka Bog then pretend their whole deck is set on GY hate. You're one Stone of Erech away from making those decks cry themselves to sleep yet for some mysterious reason you're bending over backwards to say 3 mana spot removal that gives your opponent a replacement (with no mana value restriction btw) is valuable in colors that can do that and leave the opponent with nothing. Chaos Warp isn't a replacement for GY hate and you're stupid for thinking that.
>>98574808So play PreDH with era correct rulings?
>>98575400>Durr what if I face it?What if you face double Privileged Position + Avacyn + Tamiyo, Collector of Tales + High Noon + Jace, Unraveler of Secrets emblem? Fucking retard you prepare for real situations not imagined hypotheticals someone is playing Theros gods tribal and activates World Tree AND you only need to remove Purphoros.
>>98575406It's not. It's good to have both. One is good for turning off the graveyard or burning it entirely, and the other is good in a pinch when you're dealing with something that you either can't destroy normally, or you REALLY don't want to see go to the graveyard for whatever reason. Chaos warp also has 0 guarantee of getting something back, which YOU seem to be forgetting. It's entirely random. Sometimes you'll give the opponent something better and get completely blown the fuck out. Sometimes they'll get something worse but you're still better off since the problem is gone for the time being. Sometimes they'll pull a land and you end up casting a really weird path to exile. Sometimes they'll pull an instant or sorcery and get fuckall as a replacement. There's no guarantee, but if you need something gone RIGHT NOW then it's worth rolling the dice. There are absolutely better cards, I never said there weren't, but chaos warp absolutely has its merits, even in decks with access to colors that have traditionally better removal options.
>>98575427>Most likely outcomeAssassin's Trophy except they get a nonbasic (better for them)>Worst outcomeThey get a bomb for free and you instantly lose the game off itHmm yes this is worth 3 mana when my deck has real removal colors...
>>98575412Yes, because specific three card combos are entirely the same thing as a mechanic that can be found on a bunch of cards and given out fairly easily.
>>98575434Hexproof + Indestructible only takes one card that's far more common than any source of just indestructible, yet you're really trying to pretend that's not a concern.
>>98574745>tqI'm okay with them if its not going to extend the game by 3 hours.I usually plan for them and a couple of my decks grow significantly stronger after a boardwipe.

>>98575576You are correct, yes.Peregrine Drake is notoriously easy to make infinite mana with. It's considered an infinite 2 card combo and isn't allowed in the lower brackets of commander for that reason.

>>98575321Nah dude, in my experience if you want to get rid of something you gotta fucking exile it or make it inoperable. Grasp of Fate, Banishment, Retro-Mutation, Honest work. No one runs enchantment removal either so it’s literally never going to be punished.

>>98576465gavin's definition does specify that it must affect your own lands too to be considered mld, the idea being that he doesn't want you to be able to griefyes there are combos to protect your own lands from armageddon. it doesn't change magically make armageddon not-mld anymore because again it still allows players to grief with it, just like how natural affinity itself isn't mld even though you can use it in response to a boardwipe (from your opponent btw, gavin actually makes it a point you don't do this combo yourself0

>>98576517so you're saying that since he wrote "per player", you interpret that to mean that if it doesn't blow up any of your own lands, that it's fine. because that wouldn't be "four or more lands per player" am I understanding correctly
>>98576540>four or more lands per player>liliana's ult affects each opponentsee now?
Wait, so if x = 1 can I target, say, a Sol Ring + a creature since it says and? Or is x determining the exact number of targets here?
>>98576546That Liliana is considered MLD, anon.Asymmetrical MLD is still MLD. >>98575338what did you think it did at first?>>98575877well you'd be at what, around 10 or 11 mana right? if you're casting over 10 mana worth of spells hopefully you are close to winning the game. when I cast Rise of the Dark Realms (9cmc, AFTER the prior turn's damnation or deluge) the game is on a 2 turn clock, if not closing that same turn with haste

They put voice of hunger in a precon.A shitty overpriced precon, but a precon. It's not mld
reminder that gavin once upon a time said you should only have 3 tutors in b2 lol
>>98576728I was using that site because the person I was arguing with said it was "the only site that actually bothers understanding gavin's rules" and was what he linked to as part of his argument.I didn't just pick the website out at random.
>>98576748well, it's not like sites like moxfield or scryfall even bother to argue like edhpowerlevel, so i get that guy's point, checking further at least the latter is humble enough to admit when they're overreaching
>>98576710Stasis has too bad of a reputation. If you field it once, your table will assume the worst and mistrust the deck forever. Either go full stax and accept the consequences or just run more wipes/mass bounce and pillowfort.
>>98576772damn, I just like running goofy cards.
>>98576728>you can't just windmill slam it if you're losing like armageddonNo one fucking does this. Maybe it happened to these retards in charge once and they still seethe about it decades later but someone can just as easily grief by doing any kind of boardwipe and then leaving. Or kingmaking. Or just fucking over the player they hate most. But I have never seen the imaginary "armageddon, scoop". Because a pod with a brain would just pretend this imaginary little troll didn't exist.
>>98575187Those were at least stylized cars. They didn't even use the flying monster truck version of the FF car. It's just a car that you could feasibility drive.
>>98576815if you can imagine people griefing with boardwipe.dec and counterspell.dec then you can certainly imagine that someone out there actually does, in fact, grief with mld and people do kick them out (just like how people also kick out baral griefers, believe it or not)
I notice a lot of smelltable players seem to get really extra upset when I play hand reveal effects. A lot more than in-person pods do.
>>98576834yeah and that's why i dont advocate effectively banning counterspells or boardwipes, just because someone could hypothetically use them poorly.
>>98576477I am going to build a Jolrael deck to abuse the Natural Affinity loophole.
>>98576834nta but Boardwipe.dec and Counterspell.dec newfags at least think they have a game plan that they can prolong and still get lulz out of. Once you wipe the field and leave, you're no longer a meaningful part of the game. You end your own trolling.
Quit using spelltable. Use Cockatrice instead, or Xmage
>>98576844at least with counterspells and boardwipes they cannot stop your commander as it will *eventually* get through and you cannot have enough counters to deal with every threatmld is just another thing entirely wherein not only does it hurt the owner the opponent now has to draw lands *and* followup, you may not agree but the logic makes sense
which one of you fuckers voted Gavin in charge? I hate xim for putting thing I play (extra turns) out of reach so now I have to play with cards I don't want and should stay banned (game changers)
>>98576880I did. I elected him. Cry more.
>>98576880get a job, be more like gavin
>>98576874No, it doesn't make sense. There are ways to make counterspells repeatable, there are effects that make casting from command zone impossible there are ways to make commanders cost so much more you need to draw lands to cast them. I can wipe lands but it doesn't stop my opponents from beating me to death with whatever creature they had on board beforehand. Again you people are just wrong, argue purely from emotion and cannot accept that fact so you just keep flailing around with these shitty arguments that don't apply in any other scenario of the game because those situations have become normal to you so they don't trigger your stupid little timmy feels.
"You want winning turn? Too bad! No turn! Fuck u!"

>>98577130protip: the main difference between b2 and b3 is that b2 is telegraphed while b3 is where you start seeing wins out of nowhere, hence why thassa's is a GC, if you can't see the impending craterhoof it's literally a skill issue
>>98577107>>98577130>>98577212Craterhoof isn't even all that good in a four player game. It requires either a haste enabler with a bunch of mana, or to have an established big board state like a dozens of tokens for it to even get a win out of nowhere, and even then you should know it could be coming if someone is playing green with a ton of 1/1 tokens out. It's why fogs are so good.
>>98577205This card is pretty underratted. It's closed out a lot of games for me.

Lets be honest, senpaitachi, if green doesn't win like that making a bunch of green mana, then how does it win? Just accept that green will run away with the game sometimes like that, just like sometimes blue will counter your interaction to stop their instant win combo.
>>98577266I'm sorry you couldn't figure out that the player with 10 creatures was going to play a card that makes them bigger.
>>98577349this ape here >>98577251 is telling you with that an opponent casting a bunch of nonhasty tokens + getting out craterhoof via finale to give everyone haste is somehow not telegraphed despite the amount of mana needed to pull that off, i bet he's gonna say next that someone with a bunch of swamps + cabal coffers has nothing better to do
>>98577373>>98577266>>98577349It's like you guys are hallucinating AI or something. Of course players with mana will cast spells, and cast larger ones when they can generate more. But that's not the same as saying 'this guy cast scute swarm, landfalled, tutored cradle, then cast finale for 1000' or 'this guy dropped cabal coffers with urborg out, then cast torment for 20' That's not telegraphed information, that's explosive one turn board creation into a wincon.
>>98577398Your opponent is playing green, so crator is telegraphed from turn 0.
>>98577398>you managed to live long enough to have 20 mana available? that's not our fault, whatever you do next can't be put against us whatsoever>you're totally not allowed to cast a bunch of spells and just win that's LITERALLY cheating

>>98577421>Long enough to have 20 manaYou do know you can make infinite mana turn 1 in this game if you are running certain combo lines. Why are we pretending that someone, especially a green player getting 20+ green mana in a single turn off presenting 4 mana at the start into an explosive overrun is impossible?
>>98577435no anon you're being intentionally retarded by not counting a bunch of freaking mana as 'telegraphed'
>>98577373>Hmm yes my opponent spent all game making 10 1/1s that do nothing and ramping to 10 open mana>I guess he just has no gameplan! This is how retarded (You) sound.>Durr my opponent set up their board all game it's such slop that they played a bomb that makes their board biggerIt's called a wincon, retard. >>98577442>my opponent managed to deploy his 3-card infinite combo in a single turn and killed us! waaaaa i don't care how unlikely it is, the fact he blindsided me is making my butt hurt!all the more proof that brackets is best interpreted as "no infinites/alt wincons until Turn X", which in b2's case would be your T9, to further emphasize that it's telegraphed as fuck and if you can't handle being killed on T9 then maybe B1 is for you
>>98577442>Opponent has infinite mana turn 1>Craterhoof is the problem here???

>>98577460who are you quoting?
Most people (and EDH players in general) here never read a design article or even put a little bit of critical thought into card design and it shows.
>>98577492I think WotC could do better and just expand the GC/banlist like in the alpha preview, but that would take work and they know the average Commander "player" barely understands why Time Walk is banned so they won't.
What exactly IS a two card combo?
>>98577560Grizzly Bears + Giant Growth
>>98577560a silly attempt by gavin and the committee (i personally suspect it's rachel) to establish that 2-card combos are easier to assemble than 3+ card combosnevermind that there so many cards now that making your deck modular enough to have multiple avenues to assemble a 3 card combo asap is easy unironically making it easier to do than a generic 2 card combo that can't even be tutored for, which again only highlights the issue is all about *when* you can combo off, not whatever the fuck your combo is made of

Are planeswalkers worth using in 2026? I was thinking of using pic related in the Miku deck instead of Anointed Procession. >>98578670Huatli is Aztec not blackSaheeli is Indian not blackI guess Adeline is black if that b&w treatment is canon... She didn't look like that in the original artwork but whateverI guess "Kequia" being a lesbian must be in the books or something. she's Teferi's granddaughter and definitely blackA couple of these only have the poc tag because Zimone is standing next to someone lgbt who isn't blackI don't think anything lesbian is actually being depicted in "Natural Unity", that may have been a Scryfall tranny seeing what xhe wanted to seeso I suppose Adeline, Chance for Glory (the SoS Secret Lair reprint), Defense of the Heart (Enchanting Tales reprint), Llanowar Elves (women's charity Secret Lair reprint), and maybe Syr Armont? are black lesbians in MtG. but none of them are famous characters, they must all be lesbians in the stupid books, and the Llanowar Elves is just two random elf bitches without names. (and is kinda hot actually...)Still that's not to defend WotC on these specific grounds. this game careened into turbowoke territory in January 2015
>>98578755oh I guess this card is supposed to depict Armont and Yenna being in lesbian love with each other. so yes Armont is confirmed lesbian in card artwork.

I don't see where's the problem in black women in mtg, if you don't like them you can imagine them getting horrendously violent deaths as you target them with removal or when they die in combat

>>98578806There's nothing wrong with black women (or anyone else) in mtg. The problem is when you take established characters and make them black for whatever reason, or you make gay characters getting handsy with each other on a card. Why can't I get a normal couple kissing on a card?

The first land no longer has the ability because it no longer has a blaze counter on it. The second land doesn't have the ability because Obsidian Fireheart didn't target it.since it wasn't targeted by [Olinda] the odor counter's ability won't follow I guess. that was not immediately clear to me and didn't really seem logical to me I guess.

Olinda grants the ability.Nothing about "the land continues to burn" or "the creatures continue to smell" implies the counter is what grants the ability. If you search the comp rules, there is not a rule for blaze counters, which it would need if it was an intrinsic property of the counter to grant the ability.

Out of the big three banned green creatures, this one is the most agretious, and deserves to be unbanned the least.Rofellos needs to be unbanned. It was only banned as commander for years with no problem, and rule 0 and Braids now being legal gives no reason to keep this banned. Don't like it as a commander? Rule 0 it out. In the 99? Only strong early turns in mono green, and so what? Tons of other green cards are just as strong in that situation.Primetime is straight up bonkers, but doesn't lead to unfun play like Sylvan Primordial. I think all three should be unbanned fyi.
