He has such a myopic view of wargaming that I'm fairly confident anything he outputs will just be a retread of 6th(40k)-1st(HH) including directly replicating game design elements just because they are in those editions even when they are bad. None of his content suggests that he's got anything in particular to add or would be even as competent at game design than a GW intern.

Finished my Crimson Paladins and I've had my fill of painting trim for a long while.
I painted up a squad of Khorne Berzerkers last year and I swear they took less time than these five. Glad with how they turned out though.

Taking a break to assemble a Predator Tank. Gotta jury rig some Iliastus assault cannon sponsons and make it a proper Baal Predator.

>anything he outputs will just be a retread of 6th(40k)-1st(HH) including directly replicating game design elements just because they are in those editions even when they are bad.
Idk that guy, but I happened to learn of 40k (and HHG) at around that time.
I see the current HHG 3.0 and 40k 10E and cannot help comparing it to the 1.0 and 7th from when I learned the rules.
"This squad used to have options and flavor". Even though many options were either auto includes or too niche to consider...but they had that choice. I'd rather make a mistake than GW optimize the choice for me.

I'm not stubborn, I won't deny the additions that have worked, or the simplification of unnecessarily convoluted stuff. Rhinos are usable now, for starters!
...but they did take away Tank Shock, and the version from 7E was the best there was. A pity nobody seemed to use it – it cleared squads off objectives just like losing combat. And in the movement phase, to boot!
>>
>>98577383
>Even though many options were either auto includes or too niche to consider.
Then they werent really options.

If you have 100 weapons options, but you only ever take one weapon, you have one weapons option.
If you have 100 units, but you only ever take one unit, you have one unit.

Its better to have four options, but those options are competetive among each other and you have reason to take them, than have six options of which at most two are ever worth considering and in reality you only ever take the one.
>>
>>98577383
>..but they did take away Tank Shock
Sort of, now you just deal straight up damage.
>>
I have just noticed the old m4 shoulders are smaller than the new MK4 shoulders. Should I still go for it?
>>
>>98577399
Ah you said it! It's better to FIX those options and make each of them viable, than to simply make the most viable option the standard and that's it.

>>98577410
It would've been nice if the strength of the hits was based on the vehicle. Rhino's AV12 / 2 = S6. It has a dozer blade? S+1 = S7.
>>
>>98577485
>It would've been nice if the strength of the hits was based on the vehicle
Sure. Maybe even the number of hits, could even play around with it with options (something something traitors get spiky wheels and cause d6+3 hits instead, superheavies have "crushing treads" which cause the hits to be ap3 breaching 5+...).
>>
>>98577485
>It's better to FIX those options and make each of them viable
Yes. In an ideal world you have the maximum number of options and theyre all viable. In the current world you have slightly less options but theyre all* mostly viable. In the world of before you had a lot of options, but only one was viable.

are there any known in universe advantages to mk5 or sarum helmets over mk4 and 6, or would the latter two generally be preferred if available? was planning to print some for converting some of my beakies into mk5, and was considering also replacing some heads on otherwise unconverted mk4s and 6s, but unsure how common I should make that. >Go for what?
Using the old m4 resin shoulders.
>>
>>98577536
Maybe simpler to manufacture and maintain? Less things that can go wrong in the field while fancier functions can be replicated with additional modules.
>>
>>98577399
>If you have 100 options, but you only ever take one, you have one option.
Nta but I don't really care about winning so I do end up using a lot of things for flavour rather than usefulness when I play 1.0.
>>
>>98577565
this is a good point if not the primary one with darth vader helmets in mind and how they sit in the setting
indicated in mk.v and mk.vii being both patterns of desperation. there's likely elements about the helmet that are simpler to fabricate or maintain, and it seems to have a segmentation/interchangeability of the faceplate region going on to an extent
>>
>>98577536
Sub-patterns are generally a result of a Legion saying "we 5000 helmets that meet thes minimum specs" and the Forge World giving something that meets that. Sarum was a major traitor player so it just makes sense.

Turns out these cheap thunder armour prints do come with a backpack but their scale has been monkeyed with to look more thunder warrior.

I just wanted one to be an epic scale statue and he looks impressive in that role. Maybe I'll use the spare guy to represent Enynid Harr in the good old days as a War Hound killing South Africans.

what fucks me up is somehow their slot still fits in a 25mm slotter base somehow.

We don't know, it was never stated.
There must be some kind of trade off involved, otherwise MkVII-I wouldn't have used the same design, only to be changed again in MkX
Maybe it was just cheaper and lighter than adding an extra faceplate over the grille. Maybe it was a matter of better air intake vs an armoured face plate.

I was looking at today's Black Book's PDF article, and noticed the old containers in the background of this pic.

I remember that there were tons of them in the Calth diorama, and they look more 30k than the overly gothic 40k plastic containers.
>>
>>98577536
Nothing explicitly stated. If I were to speculate though, MkVI supposedly had a complex sensory suite and dual circuitry design to ensure redundancy. I assume the manufacturing, repair, and maintenance to be more resource intensive as a result.

No idea about mkIV though. Never really understood why maximus armor was regarded as the most advanced power armor in service, or perhaps ever made.

Do you think making vortex templates only 3" and maybe a 4+ on whether it scatters would be a wise tradeoff given the wiping of all voids and crazy damage (not to mention instantly deleting infantry/tanks in LI) and the fact a Warmonger can fire up to 8 of those fuckers per game assuming they don't choose other missiles like Warp, MD or Plasma?

And this is why people like you should be taken out into the alley behind the GW and beaten to death with the store Dread-in-a-sock the moment you reveal your worthless subhuman mentality. If you have 100 choices but limit yourself to only one because you're such a myopic, pathetic, juvenile homofaggot that the only joy you can squeeze out of your miserable excuse for a life is making "optimal" tabletop wargaming lists, the problem is you.

The worst part of it is 99.99% of the time you dumbasses are just flat out *wrong*. You hyperfixate on simplistically mathhammered out "proof" that what are in reality utterly trivial differences in efficacy actually mean something is completely worthless compared to the alternative choice that's 0.0000000000000000000000012% better in a completely artificial statistical scenario that has no fucking relevance to actual games played on actual tables. You piss and shit and squeal and sob at the prospect of someone taking a powerfist on their character because they think it's cool because OBVIOUSLY their WHOLE ARMY will be WORTHLESS if they don't take a Thunder Hammer on EVERY MODEL that possible can, I mean do they not even comprehend that it's marginally less points efficient?!?!!!!!!1111112w1e2q1!

And in the end, all the focus on stats and listbuilding is just to desperately try and avoid confronting the reality: you're shit at the actual game. Every mathhammering, stat-spouting, optimal-option-choosing netlisting piece of shit I've ever played has been an absolute fucking brainlet once models meet tabletop, and the sweetest thing in existence is watching you fucktards desperately try to rationalise to yourselves why I just pissed all over your fucking face with my "unoptimal" fluff list.

Played with proxies before, but they're a solid pick for Blood Angels. Shields reduce damage of nasty hits down by 1 and Blood is Forever means if they're outnumbered they get a decent feel no pain 5 or 4+ save depending on the size of the horde they're fighting.

I want to get into Horus Heresy, I don't find 40k very fun it's mainly the people who play it really, they complain about my choices of what i have tldr, I already have small legion built & primmed for paint but my problem is what legion i like several of them so I'm at an impasse the Legions i really like are 1000 Sons, Iron Warriors & Ultramarines now I can't really mix these 3 together because reasons, so i thought maybe i could use the 3 Legions as inspirations for a Blackshield Warband I have an idea for the livery & heraldry and i have a grasp of the rules for Blackshields but would people crash out if i were to do it or should i just pick 1 Legion and be content?

my paint scheme would be a dark Gun Metal grey, with red/maybe gold runes for livery, while using Pteruges on some parts of the marine.

Wartable games sells the forge world chain axe sets for like $6 or $7 a set, I think you get 10 in a set. Fucking guy charges FORTY FUCKING EXTRA POUNDS for the "express" shipping option....fucking joke), so it ends up being pretty expensive if youre in the US (I just made like a $230 order from him, and it was all weapons, misc accessories and shoulder/vehicle icons. How playable would be a HH army build around a core of tacticals, devastators, assault marines, predators, vindicators and whirlwinds?

Thanks.
How far away would this put me from having a basic core of a space marine list in Horus Heresy.

40 tactical marines
12 devastators
40 assault space marines
3 vindicators
3 predator anihilators
3 predator destructors
3 Baal predators
2 land raiders
10 claw terminators
10 hammer&shield terminators

I practicaly have every character in every armour set up at at least 1, Including terminator armour apothecaries, tech marines, jump pack everything etc.

I also have dreadnoughts, but they are not the sleek Horus Heresy ones, but the regular w40k ones 3 with claws, 1 librarian one and 3 armed with double auto canons.

Flamer Predators are a thing, assuming your Baal ones are built with them, and Indomitus Terminators are their own unit - as are Castraferrum Dreadnoughts. All members of a HSS or TS squad use the same weapon.

A Primarch isn't required at all. If you're playing Blood Angels, then you can get away with Mk7 as a Siege of Terra-themed army. Look through the army list and see what you can do.

>>98581199
yes. my Baal predators have flamer turrets and heavy bolter side sponosns. The predators are hvy bolter/lascanon sponsons and auto canon, or lascanon sponsons and plasma turret (I use them as triple lascanon ones) . My tactical marines all have bolters, my devstarors have multi melta. technicaly 2 of the devastators are from the tactical squads, but from what I have seen on Horus Heresy box art covers the tactical marines in it only use bolters. As my jump pack marines goes. I have 20 regular assault marines, with chainswords and bolt pistol and sgts with double claws, one 10 man Death Company unit with 5 fists, 3 power weapons and 2 hammers. I also have two five man sanguinary guard units. One armed with axes, the other armed with swords. I assume I could run the sanguinary guard as some sort of veteran squad, and the death company probably would have to go.
My tactical and devastar marines are build with the Blood Angle Tactical marine box bodies.
I have all the other special weapons (8 grav guns, 8 flamers, 8 rocket launchers etc) magnetized, but from what I have seen no units with those weapons exists in Horus Heresy, bar the rocket launcher one.

Thanks again for the Help. Good to know primarchs aren'y obligatory to play the game.

When they were insistent that terminators would remain 1W but that they would drop the points to next to nothing (like 25 points) I immediately stopped caring.
If you think a terminator dying on a 1/6 chance of a wound is fine and narratively appropriate, you don't understand the setting and if you just what to points crunch it like a tournament faggot, I don't want to play your slop

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/h9lvvzpd/designers-notes-tzeentch-daemons-in-the-age-of-darkness/
I just read the WarCom article about using Tzeentch daemons in a Horus Heresy game and I've got questions :
what's the deal with daemons and Chaos gods in HH (both the game and the novels) ? the way it is described, it almost feels like before the Heresy, the gods of Chaos and daemons couldn't really enter the material universe and that they only started doing it in great numbers from the time of the Heresy onwards
also, the lore makes it feel like the ruinous powers didn't had well-defined identities and names before that time as well
I know Slaanesh was barely born (and yet always existed in the Warp) but sometimes the lore sounds like the four gods and their daemons with their attributes and domains really took shape at that point and not before
>Well-versed and attentive readers may well recall that previous writings on Daemonic activity during the Horus Heresy explicitly mentioned that Daemons of this era were not fully formed and usually indistinct, which is not something that has been contradicted by this Journal. However, there also existed much more specific forms of Daemon even during the later parts of the Great Crusade, but to the layman of the Imperium at the time, these forms frequently made little sense
am I right in perceiving this or not ? is there anything in the books which canonically confirms that Chaos didn't exist in the same form before Horus' rebellion ?

The Chaos Gods and their daemons were very much around, most of the Imperium just didn't know what the fuck they were because of how much knowledge about them was suppressed at the time. Heck, even most of the primarchs had no idea that the Chaos gods existed during the Great Crusade.
Also, the Warp was more calm and passive because of Slaanesh's birth. Meaning less warp storms, daemonic invasions and such.

daemons can't just poof into existence wherever they need summoned and greater daemons need a host. That predates HH, fuck it predates chaos daemons as a faction. His sword also has precision 4+, so against units without somebody who can do challenges he can snipe out sergeants or dudes with thunder hammers.

>Only shit like praetors or legion champions are a real threat to him
Or dudes with twin claws rolling slightly better than normal. Or Centurions (paragon of battle or no), hell master sgts are ws6 with the sort of unit thats going to be engaging custodes. Its especially dangerous because hes a duellist but locked at D1 (unless he charges), hes also always going to lose outside support bonuses and NEEDS something like finishing blow to deal good damage (helps mitigate his weak S and D1), but that means he has a very real risk of going 2nd.

>so against units without somebody who can do challenges he can snipe out sergeants or dudes with thunder hammers.
he fails to snipe out a single terminator sgt on average (assuming no lightning blows). He just isnt that good at combat. Which in the "every basic dude is top of the line elite at combat" army is not great. He wont even snipe out a single veteran/command squad sgt if they have a combat shield.

And once again, hes made of tissue paper (for the army), he dies as easily as a single custodian guard.

>>98582802
Theyre okay. Poor damage (2s4 shots is bolter tier, but half the range) but theyre assault so you can fire them multiple times. Stun(0) isnt much but its something. The biggest argument against taking a few is that havoc launchers exist, are insanely good, and are stun(1).

But shotguns have a generally fairly low opprtunity cost, so you may as well take a few where possible if you care about statuses or being up close ever.
>>
>>98582363

Also, fuck women. Tired of them being in our spaces and doing nothing in them other than ruining things or bitching and getting shit changed for the worse. I remember when I was in a GW store back in the early 2000s with my fiance at the time, she was building and painting shit just because I was, and she got some tyranids because she thought they were cute. The store manager laughed about it, and said that was the reality of women in the hobby back then. They either "played" (meaning they didnt, they just built/painted and let their BFs play for them) tyranids or orks. Nothing in between. Tyranids because they thought they were cute like lizards, or Orks because they though they were silly. No inbetween. He based his knowledge off internal surveys and shit done through GW HQ.

I wouldn't mind female custodes, if the male ones stayed chunky big guys. But with the change they just are lanky and slim, even more so then the modern cataphracts.
>>
>>98582955
Femstodes in vacuum are no problem for me. The archaic vibe of Custards with all their capes, robes and bling conceptually works very well for female characters in my opinion - how this is implemented in actual models is another topic though.

I also can live with the "lolilol femstodes have always been a thing" retcon. It's perfectly dishonest from GW when you you know the history of the faction IRL but I can't think of another way to add femstodes to HH (40k is another matter, but I'm not fond of Custodes being an army in 40k desu).

What I DO dislike is Sisters of Silence being denied the "elite female faction" spot and GW doing fucking nothing to give them some love. I understand that some people want female transhuman warriors - which SoS aren't - but it would have been possible to make SoS more elite without turning them into pseudo-Astartes in the process.
>>
>>98583137
I mean, I get wanting to open to new markets and new audiance. Old timers may earn more then kids, but sooner or later they do die, and I think a big cut off the the community is going to be coming in 10-15 years. But on the other hand going full House of Mouse "Force is Female" is just stupid. In general the main problem is with how the thing is done. Like we want more "black" marines, cool make a cool new chapter with cool characters, give them interesting gimmiks people "black" or not will pick them up. GW idea of introducing "black" marines is painting every 3ed model black. Including for chapters that are know to be albinos.
Female custodes could have been resolved much better. Custodes were just man for 10000 years, but then the demons came, the custodes decided to leaver Terra, but there were so few of them, that they just wouldn't be able to do it. And here comes Cawl the Archheretik offering them the option to make custodes out of girls too. Twice the number of recruits. you could have factions withing custodes, some who oppose this new custodes, some who okey it, a faction that is on "wait and see", the Shadow Wardens looking at it and going "I don't have time for this, I have a 7th dimensional uber being to watch here, which proximity slowly burns out my armour and my soul". But instead we got "They were always women, chud". No one who has been in everything for decades likes to be told that they were wrong for 10-20-30 or more years.

Am I wrong to want shotguns to be an alternative to bolters instead of special weapons? I feel like a single shotgun shouldn't Stun an entire squad. Unlike something like a flamer or a havoc launcher, where a single one can affect then all
>>
>>98583212
yeah, plus that. Here we are "they were always women custodes", while the 100% women force is being neglected and ignore. I mean at this point they may as well just say that, because all custodes are so perfect they are neither women, nor men. And SoS are just too TERF for the modern setting.

Anyway the update gave custodes plastic dreadnoughts and tanks, and I am happy they are very happy about that. Creating a situation in which a company has a fandom, fanatical to a degree, that is activly trying to not care/ignore the new lore is not healthy. Just ask Marvel or special KK with Star Wars.
>>
>>98583212
>but it would have been possible to make SoS more elite
No, fuck that. SoS should not be changed to be more elite, they are fine how they are. Situationally good sub-astartes.
Thats the dynamic, custodes are the brute force "best of the best" with no/little utility, SoS are sub-par underdogs using good gear and fuckery to do niche things.
>>
>>98582955
Custodes should be genderless flash golems whose only purpose is to be the living will of the emperor and can never leave his side, and they should have all died in the siege of Terra as irreplaceable relics. Nothing in 30k or 40k makes sense when you have custodes roaming about as incorruptible paragons that are better than space marines.

Huge loses after the battle with the khorn demons. Cawl comes and gives them the option to turn women in to custodes too. Some custodes are okey with it, some are not. >>
>>98582977
Yes, thats how new things work. See also: graviton weapons, centurions, frost weapons, thunderwolf cavalry, the storm raven, the other SM flyers, helldrakes/basically every demon engine, etc. Contekar did not exist until FW decided they existed all along when they decided to release some models for them.
There were no pyrovores or cronoses or grotesquers or voidraven bombers or (90% of the necron army) or whatever else until there always were either. Basically the only faction where "New unit = new development" are tau, where thats the gimmick, that each new codex advances them ever so slightly forwards and they develop new shit as their empire grows.

You can of course continue to dislike this sort of retcon (because thats literally what it is, retroactive continuity) in principle, all power to you, but the nature of warhammer as both "a setting where things cant change too much" and "a game that has to continue evolving and changing" means that things continue to have always existed. This was true for every addition to the game beyond rogue trader and will continue to be the case.

Irrelevant, theyre retcons.
Weapons, units, vehicles. They all suddenly appear and have always existed. And now thats also true for women within a specific faction, which were somehow never seen for all their previous appearances until they were always there all along.

Does not matter. Once again, individual things appear and have always been the case. You may as well argue the in universe precedent for women and gene modding existing justifies female custodes if you want to argue the helldrake didnt suddenly exist all along.

I feel you anons, this is being designed for fun and spectacle but I'm worried about internal consistency. I want the Warmonger and Imperator to feel balanced between each other.

Imperator

>Hellstorm, heavy heavy heavy ammo limited barrage weapon that can fuck up massed formations and can deal good damage to a titan.
>Plasma Annihilator is just a beefed up version of the baby one on the Warlord with the overcharge shot it had in 1995. Its it can delete an entire enemy titan but you can't fire for a turn and the reactor hypovelimia can leave you without voids or movement for a turn if you roll a 1 on a D6 test.

Warmonger

>Vengeance Cannon. I wanted a fuck you lance weapon so its basically a warlord class volcano cannon that's a heavy beam weapon and with 2 dice because its twin barrel
>Doomstrike battery has 8 missiles limited. player chooses the warload before the game. I wanted it to have some variety like the old support missiles.
>Warp works like the 1 the reaver can tote
>Plasma 3x small blast submunitions that drop a plasma blastgun on anything inside the templates
>Mine Dispenser you can scatter mines over a large blast plate or in a line. small tokens half live half dud. If a unit gets close you reveal if its live or not and they take a hit or don't. 4 live AP mines, 3 AT or 2 anti-titan. each has a minimum scale to trigger so infantry can stand on a titan mine until a Warhound steps by and they get atomised
>Vortex as I stated above: 3" blast sized vortex that scatters if you miss a hit roll, instantly deletes infantry/tanks. titans lose all voids plus maybe 2D6 ignore save wounds.

Do anons think I should add the old Blind, Haywire or Stasis missiles? They are fun in Dark Heresy but I'm not sure how fun they would be on the table.

nta but you're a disingenous liar. Adding something to the lore that doesn't contradict anything previously stablished is not a retcon.

All that stuff were explicit new developments, or not explained. But GW didn't say that the corvus blackstar was common during the Unification Wars.

Same for femstodes. Adding them as new in 40k would not have been a retcon, but adding them retroactively to 30k is.
>>
>>98583446
>the deliberate choice not to gender the Custodes was made 40 years ago
Bullshit. Back them they were men, and nobody would have though otherwise. That was the default.

When they were redesigned in 2003 for Visions of Heresy, they got SoS as their female counterpart, which says it all.

Fucking lying dipshit
>>
>>98583581
>All that stuff were explicit new developments
No, no they were not. Thats literally my point, those were simply weapons and vehicles and units that were suddenly there all along (or were invented at some point long in the distant past but post heresy).

The timeline didnt move up a year and suddenly dark eldar invented the cronos, they had it for ages already and we just never saw it. The pyrovore or whatever wasnt a new tyranid creature evolved last week, it was there all along and we never saw it. Grav weapons and centurions werent invented by cawl on tuesday, they were weapons the space marines apparently had all along.

>Adding something to the lore that doesn't contradict anything previously stablished is not a retcon.
Isnt it by definition? A retcon is "retroactive continuity", its adding things to have happened that were not established previously.

>But GW didn't say that the corvus blackstar was common during the Unification Wars.
And? Its still not a new vehicle, its simply a thing you have to accept as having been there for the recognizable timeline of 40k. Hell, they COULD have said it was a design dating to the unification wars and it would just have always been that, see also: SA vehicles, which basically are that in their lore.

>Adding them as new in 40k would not have been a retcon, but adding them retroactively to 30k is.
I fail to see how. Its an explicit retcon both ways.
>>
>>98583465

I forgot to mention the bastion weapons. Imp has a heavy arty battery plus a AA gun emplacement, Warmong has AAA out the ass like a walking flak tower, its head gun (which I imagine working like a stormtiger but I haven't stated it yet) and its unarmed lysander targeting craft. Both have light gun emplacement covering their rear arc

those basically come out in the wash even in my mind.
>>
>>98583638
Theres a reason I purposefully omitted primaris, because those ARE a case of "no actually, these are new". They arent the "been there all along" sort of retcon that new units usually are, they (like the tau stuff I mentioned before) are the exception, because usually when GW adds a new unit, whether its a demon engine or chaos space marine variant or a retarded looking dreadknight, its just a thing the faction has always had and heres 5 stories of them totally kicking ass in the past. Ditto for special characters, Draigo didnt exist until he did and was the coolest guy around.

You keep being disingenous and pretending there's no difference between adding something extra, and adding something that actually changes the lore.

The DA having unique secret vehicles doesn't change their nature. Neither does adding a gunship to the SW that could have been off camera.

Adding femstodes from the start fucks up the nature of Custodes and invalidates their previous lore. Adding them in 40k as a new development would also have sucked, but it could be made to work.

But you're just another casual that sees custodes as big gold power fantasies about strong women. And not the meat robots without agency based on Alexander's the Great buddies that they really are in the lore, as opposed to the "soulless" but actually human SoS.

No more than any other change. They were just off camera etc.

>But you're just another casual that sees custodes as big gold power fantasies about strong women
If they were hot they could be. Alas they arent.

But no, custodes were a mistake and should never have been an army, that alone was a retcon that should never have been made. Theyre just bigger marines and serve no purpose but to give timmies a braindead army to play.

I do however object to your faulty reasoning and think you fundamentally do not understand the nature of warhammer, its lore, and how it - by necessity of its nature - changes. Which is why we are having this conversation.

HH as a game system did not exist in 2003. Moreover: the custodes of 2003, established in the art, were both a far departure from their prior depictions and very different from the custodes that eventually made their way into the game.

It also remains a mistake, even in 2003. Custodes should never have been an army.

The physical differences between men and women are smaller than the differences between different weapons systems.
>>

>>
>>98583905
Bolters aren't inferior in every way to volkite, they are much easier to produce and maintain. It doesn't matter that there's no particular stat to represent that on the tabletop, in terms of lore it's legitimate.

Where the difference between men and women is purely cosmetic and minor? The female custodes and male custodes dont exactly look very different (they should, female custodes should have gratuitous boob plate and accentuated hips, but they dont).

Different weapons and tanks and shit change the aesthetic of an army far more than whether some of the rank and file are slightly more feminine.

Some things people accepted pretty quickly (especially grav weapons, because they were disgustingly OP and marinefags arent human beings) but centurions remained a subject of mockery for quite a while (until becoming a forgotten unit endeared to some due to how silly they were/how niche they were in the ever more cut-throat 40k meta)
>>
>>98583961
I dont care about entering womens spaces because theyre lame and dont interest me. But thats not relevant to this conversation. This isnt an argument about some hypothetical real gender war, its an argument about the nature of a retcon.

Using Tyranids as an example is the most fucking retarded thing you could have done, their entire lore is that they are CONSTANTLY adapting and making new biomorphs and creatures, what a complete fucking tourist you have to be to not know this.

Entire books have been written about the differences between various kinds of sword, or different schools of art or architecture or music. Treatises have been written on the difference between german and spanish fencing.

>Sleek grav tanks and whatnot are far more significant an aesthetic and practical deviation than some boob plate.
Wrong. Marines are still marines even with aesthetic changes. And Primaris were introduced as a new development. GW didn't pretend they existed in the HH.
>some random ffg card game doesent matter.
Visions of Heresy doesn't matter? lol
Again you show how little you know, pleb. Keep showing your ass and proving to everyone here how wrong and retarded you are.

This, but unironically.
Fuck you and your hipster irony subversion shit. This is explicitly about mithology and history.
>>
>>98583998
>, their entire lore is that they are CONSTANTLY adapting and making new biomorphs and creatures
Yes, and some are explicitly new, others are not. The pyrovore is - iirc - not one of the new ones (as opposed to something like tyrant guard (or was it hive guard?), which were developed using space marine DNA after several engagements with the imperium).
>>
>>98584006
>Wrong. Marines are still marines even with aesthetic changes.
Wrong, as evidenced by a good 50% of primaris releases, which may bear the name "space marine" but are fundamentally alien to the aesthetic of the faction.
>And Primaris were introduced as a new development. GW didn't pretend they existed in the HH.
Correct.
>This, but unironically.
Good news then. The aesthetic dichotomy still very much exists. The custodes are still big and gold, sisters are still small and silver. Custodes are still bulkier than sisters.
>>
>>98584006
>Wrong. Marines are still marines even with aesthetic changes.
Go on then: which is more divergent from the faction, female custodes or primaris. There is a correct answer here.
>>
>>98582955
I never cared about custodes being female because I never cared about custodes with their shit looking plastic models and near absence during most of the heresy. GW making giving them women hasn't changed anything other than releasing even shittier models and just outright taking sisters behind the shed.

You keep talking about it to avoid the actual point being made. The aesthetics are now void and hollow. Custodes are no longer Custodes and there's no real duality.
>>98584019
You gotcha is easy: femstodes. Primaris are still men.
Both were supposed to be men for very good artistic reasons. And now the first have been fucked into a parody. Both their lore and their minis.
>>
>>98584051
>You gotcha is easy: femstodes. Primaris are still men
AAAAAAND YOURE OUT

Sorry boss, the correct answer was: "Primaris". Bad luck. Thanks for joining us.

Custodes with tits and a cunt are still custodes, primaris are entirely antithetical to the aesthetics of what space marines are and utterly change the faction on a fundamental level.
>>
Custodes tanks are cool.
>>
>>98584051
>which only happened because a real "gender war"
Cool. And? Lets say we accept your premise and GW are pandering to the feminist cabal run by the rothschilds and the UN and sweet baby inc for that dark ESG money. GW makes things because they want to sell toys/make a profit, news at 11. Do you think all the previous units they introduced were created because they just had a burning need to explore the logical conclusions of the lore?
>The aesthetics are now void and hollow
The aesthetics are as they always were because the faction looks the fucking same.
>Custodes are no longer Custodes
Theyre big golden elite dudes. Nothing about them has fundamentally changed.
>there's no real duality.
Theres all the duality you ever had. Big elite golden dudes that brute force problems and small silver chicks with sneaky weapons to do specialist stuff. The custodes didnt suddenly become small and fragile, or start using needlers and sniper rifles.
>>
>>98584069
You're trying too hard.
Primaris being ugly and their units stupid doesn't change that they're marines. They talk, fight and die like marines.

Custodes becoming a strong womyn faction to own the chuds, with feminized minis, and making their animation appearances about telling men to shup up and obey is light years ahead in the lore rape scale.

>>98584083
ngl, they are. It's fortunate that GW modern designers have been stopped from trying to "update" the classic FW vehicles (except the poor Fellblade)

>Primaris being ugly and their units stupid doesn't change that they're marines
It actually does. Their design language and philosophy is utterly antithetical to what marines are and were, to the point where the faction is no longer recognizable as what it once was.

>They talk, fight and die like marines.
They DONT actually fight like space marines, thats half the issue. Theyre now aspect warriors.
Female custodes on the other hand are functionally identical to male custodes.

>lore rape scale
"actually the imperium is inventing new shit every week" is orders of magnitude higher on the lore rape scale than whether the custodes have cooties now. Its the sort of shit that doesent just destroy a faction, it breaks the fundamental rules and premise of the setting,. its themes, and its aesthetics.
>>
>>98584100

This is what happens when you're a terminally online american brained mid 2010s moron of the leftoid variety.
You're unable to understand that there are people that genuinely do not fit your red vs blue bullshit.
>GW makes things because they want to sell toys/make a profit, news at 11
Bullshit.
I work in the entertaiment industry (I won't say which). Things are done in companies because a Product manager or a Producer sells the idea to the leadership, which is clueless most of the time.
And who are Product managers or Producers in entertaiment companies?
> the faction looks the fucking same.
The minis are uglier, and feminized.
Bad poses. The cloaks that look like wedding dresses. The triggerless spears (do you get it? they can't be triggered)

Looks way better than I'd expect. Consider the idea stolen. Got a painted squad of veteran tacticals whose bolters I want to upgrade to combi-bolters, but really didn't look forward to having to rip off the arms and bolters, swap the weapons, glue it all together again, then restore all the damaged painting. With this conversion I can just add another barrel, maybe change the magazine, and the only have to paint those little additions.

I should also make updated rules for Abominatus (Khornate daemon imperator). There aren't any other chaos imperators from old epic (anon last thread was wrong Skylok and Bubonicus are chaos warlords like the Banelord).

What even would be a Slaaneshi Imperator? 4 sets of carapace titties that fire as heavy beam weapons?

>>98584872

I felt like that but that was then and this is now. I got into epic scale stuff. It does feel more relaxed, idk you get half a company of little dudes in 1 box and you have to paint them more broadly and cartoonishly. either that or you have a handful of titans to fret over.

There IS a precedent for titan grade sonic weapons (see ordinatus). But yea, slaanesh can have more than just "sonic everything", thats just what noise marines have because thats their thing.

Laser weaponry seems pretty fitting, precise, flashy, elegant. Maybe even lances, evoking eldar stuff, beautiful crystalline constructs resembling preying mantises, moving with a twisted grace as they shimmer impossibly in the light, their "dance" only interrupted by bursts of multicolored beams that strike with an unnatural accuracy.. Maybe generic ectoplasma if you want to go generic.

No the anon is right. The Subjugator has a giant doom siren and blastmaster so it should have at least one sonic weapon. The main weapon weapons of the Subjugator were the Tormentor Cannon which is a daemonic/psi weapon that blasts you with slaanesh energy like getting your nipples bitten on a subatomic level until you become a blasted husk. The other are giant crab claws.

So the most basic answer is a giant Tormentor beam on one arm and a snip snab close weapon arm with a co-axial sonic flamer.

Also the Imperators old school transport capacity of 25 fits pretty good imo. Since models can no longer roll down the windows and shoot out of the titan in the modern game I think having the 10 slots in the leg bastions be assault transport ready to charge right out and gaurdrooms behind the bridge/upper bastions be a large transport where 15 more troops including dreadies and cybernetica are kept sounds about right.
