As in fiction in general or Warhammer stuff?
Italy has good comics like Dylan Dog, or Corto Maltese as some basic examples or good prose fiction like Umberto Eco's work or Italo Calvino.
Even GW had some important Italians, like Alessio Cavatore who worked at GW during the 2000s and now mostly does Warlord games stuff like Bolt Action

it was shilled countless times to me, but I’ve always passed it over because I thought it was about tau. it was only when someone brought up the guard were space confederates that I finally picked up the book and it turns out the entire book is about guard and in fact there are only like 5000~ fire caste tau on the entire planet. I just don’t get it. if you’re on either side of the aisle between tau and guard its like anti marketing. where if you’re tau you’ll be pissed off, and if you’re guard you’re going to skip it.

I'm a Tau fan and I liked it. Didn't know going into it that it was going to be a Guard book. I'd also say it's a Chaos book, in fact, Fehevari is the only author that I think really gets Chaos. Wraight tried with Sea of Souls but I think just missed the mark. ADB could but doesn't because his work is more sanitized to conform to the official story.

11th is making me want to stop playing 40k. This would be the second time I've come back and left again. I'm 40 and no one I used to play casually with plays anymore and pickup games are almost always unbalanced due to highly polarized list building (I can't bring a TAC list to deal with GSC or Knights).
>>
>>98576909
The collector's edition was gone within fucking like 20 seconds when it went up a couple years back, I was pissed I couldn't get it in time, it was the only time I ever tried actually giving GW money directly for Black Library stuff instead of pirating and they didn't make enough copies

>>98576912
He's 100% shitposting, even if someone doesn't actually like Fehervari's style no one who has read him and is arguing in good faith could ever call it generic military sci-fi lmfao, he's the most stylistically grimdark and horror-focused writer in the entire Black Library.

Thinking cap on I believe the only reason why they've not given tacticals and devastators legends rules despite doing it for assault squads even though assault intercessors are way more similar to them than regular ints are from tacs is because they plan to bring back the units mid edition.

>>
>>98576931
Geedubs had the perfect chance to swap out tacticals with a new battleline unit of primaris with embedded special weapons at the start of this edition. They didn't do that, and instead literally put out "intercessors again."

>>98576967
It's just fucking unbelievable to me, you'd think after the roaring success of refreshed Terminators last edition launch they would have got the hint. If Armageddon had come with 10 upscaled Tacticals with Mk 7 armour and a special + heavy weapon it would have blown records.
>>
>>98576974
They're ugly and dont provide anyhting for the setting.
>>
>>98576924
>its literally impossible for somebody to disagree with me

>>
>>98576974
In 7th tacticals were just a tax SM players paid to take other options. All they are good for is killing light infantry and close range. Special and heavy weapons in the squad were usually just a waste of points because you couldn't split fire and paying 25pts for a heavy weapon you can't shoot and move with makes the rest of the squads shooting useless if you stay still to fire it at a tank. They just had no use.
>>
>>98576990
>They're ugly
So update the kit without deleting the unit, like with terminators?
>and dont provide anyhting for the setting.
They are inherently more interesting than intercessors though.

>>
>>98576992
Intercessors have also been useless for years, with people taking exclusively a single 5 man squad to get sticky objectives. The same rule could have been given to tacticals and they would have been just as useful. Why is a single edition of tacticals being relatively bad after 30 years make them deserve being compltely removed from the game and setting but intercessors being useless for their entire existance doesn't?
>>
>>98576997
>So update the kit
You want MORE primaris marines? Well, you'll get more.
>>98577003

>>
>>98577004

In 7th edition (the last time I played) I would take 2x 10 Tacticals with a Plasma and Sgt Combi-plasma in a Rhino. It was a CAD so they had objective secured which was the only reason I didn't just take 2x 5 scouts. They worked in the list but even back then I was the only Marine player I knew who bothered with them.

I think it's because they're incredibly stupid, and want to market to people who are incredibly stupid with their poster-boy army. Daquarius wouldn't know what to do with a tactical squad, so GW killed tacticals in favor of "oops all boltguns" for the main space marine battleline.

It’s as simple as “no one cares for them” to gw. And they’re right. Who here cares for first born? Nobody. No one has posted a single firstborn marine in here with a timestamp since they’re justified binning. We should be happy the inferior product is being sidelined and that primaris will continue to be kings.
>>
>>98576974
The were designed for an era where plastic kits were limited, so the most popular faction benefitted from a general purpose unit that every player would have to buy multiples of. As technology and economics improved that stopped being beneficial. Everything is a plastic kit with big up-front costs, but the much larger audience will buy lots of different units in sufficient numbers. So the most popular army in particular shouldn't have one cheap box that does everything.

Also tactical squads were bad at everything, one missile launcher and a meltagun won't do shit in modern 40k. Given the choice any reasonable person chooses specialists. Intercessors are only taken for sticky objectives even with a busted number of shots per round.

A while back I was chatting with an old friend I used to play 40K with by who stopped playing and I was trying to explain to him that Marines play style is closer to what he remembered as Eldar style lists of specialist units and he was amazed how much GW had fucked up their product.
>>
I got sekhmet coven and realized it has 4 leaders with no battlelines they can attach to. Should I buy 2 boxes of rubrics and split it 4x5 for each to lead? I don't think I'll have enough soulreapers or icons if I do this but maybe I can cope with 2 of them being all flamer squads.
>>
Reminder at least one of the prolific primaris "supporters" in this thread is a Chaosfag that got their shit faithfully updated into a larger scale as the same unit and they just pretend to like primaris to mock loyalist players who got fucked over.

>If Armageddon had come with 10 upscaled Tacticals with Mk 7 armour and a special + heavy weapon
They are not doing mixed armor marks like this anymore and not with older armor marks for 40k. Unless HH moves onto Scouring and up, Mk7&8 will remain homeless. And they still have to make MkV actually first, it's frankly embarrassing it's still not a thing.

Tactical unit can easily exists in 40k, but they will all be in MkX Tacticus with Special and Heavy weapon instead. Hoping for anything else is delusional. They could make separate MkX Phobos and Gravis Tacticals as well as a counterpart to HH armor marks I guess.
I wouldn't be surprised if we got MkX Tacticals in Kill Team even. But Tactical =/= Mk7

Primaris in general, just look gay, is all. They just look meh. I just don't like them. Won't pay money for them. It's really that simple. Models are expensive and if GW wants me to spend money on models they need to make them more than just average or good enough, they have to be exceptional, they have to tickle my brain in all the right ways, they have to be fucking awesome. Primaris are just super fucking mid. Some of them in previous editions were downright bad, awful even, but these days they're usually just mid. But mid isn't good enough for my money. Sorry! I'm just not going to buy them is all. Why don't you make some space marines like this, James?
>>
>>98577137
They were only bad in 7th though. And it always depended on the army. Look at 30k right now, tacticals are one of the best units in the game.
>>
>>98577139
>and they flopped

You mean because they're sold 5 to a box for the same price they used to sell 10 and because they're Chaos shit and not Loyalist. But even still I've seen some people using them as conversion fodder which is usually a sign they sold well.

I don't really view it as tacticals going away, There is a reason why they waited for the new intercessor facelift before squatting tacticals. That kit IS the new tactical squad- the only thing it's missing is the ability to take a special weapon. Now special weapons have their own unique squads and that uniformity is more fitting for the "first army" role that space marines usually fill.

>>98577029
Since intercessors got a facelift I think it's possible that Desolators might as well but I don't see their datasheet changing in any meaningful way.

>That kit IS the new tactical squad- the only thing it's missing is the ability to take a special weapon.
Anon that's the whole point of tactical squads. If they are missing that, they simply aren't tactical squads.
>Now special weapons have their own unique squads and that uniformity is more fitting for the "first army" role that space marines usually fill.
Devastators were always a separate squad and having aspect warrior squads was literally the opposite of the design language of marines.
>>
Scouts can take mixed "tactical" weapons and literally no one takes them for their offensive ability.
>>
>>98577187
>record sales and profits
Are we going to have this conversation again? There's zero (0) proof GW's boom in profits was specifically selling primaris, and even the contributions primaris made have to be measured against the potential profits GW could have made with upscaled Firstborn instead.
>>
>>98577198

Tactical Marines were better when a single lascannon could actually kill a tank. The HP bloat on vehicles and monsters these last few editions have been nuts, infantry are worthless outside of total meme builds

IIRC flamer rubrics are actually bad as bodyguards because most leader units in tsons give either rerolls or +1 to hit?

Asking for Tacticals does not imply Mk7 though since you could deploy Marines in any armor in this configuration. Even when rumors started about Tacticals being in 11th starter set, people assumed it just meant Mk10 Tacticals.
Asking for Tacticals and asking for mixed armor units are two separate issues which shouldn't be confused. I like mono armor mark kits more, it gives me exactly what I want and not a piecemeal of stuff I don't like (like Mk8), bundled with what I like. Having an option to get separate, but varied beakies and Mk7 and then on my own making Tactical Squad which has rules out of them so I don't have useless for me Mk8 bits would be perfect.
>>
>>98577191
You only say this because of the old proportions, you would have bought the shit out of Firstborn models in Primaris scale.

>>98577199
I accept your concession. As has been stated 2379482893 times at this point, the giant spike in money GW made started before Primaris even released and 90% of it was that every single player in the history of 40k came flooding back at the same time when 8th edition launched because it was the first hard rules reset in about 20 years and they sold out of EVERYTHING, not just space marines.
>>
>>98577165
It will grow the hobby until it reaches a tipping point and then it's going to get dropped by enough people. The GW executives will get their golden parachutes in spite of driving the game into the ground because they will still be able to license the IP to videogame companies.
>>
>>98577196
Scouts can't take lascannons, meltas or plasmas. They also can't run 3 guns in a 5-6 man squad like tacticals have been able to since 3rd. That's a pretty retarded comparison.

it's not really primaris slop to me, I was excited for the facelift that space marines got. The rescale was necessary, I respect GW for trying to justify the rescale using ingame lore but I think it did more damage to the fanbase than they expected. Primaris became this sort of crossed line in the sand where people felt like their childhood/teenage years were turned against them to sell more models.

I do think that it slid too far in the tacticool direction and some of the first wave of the refresh didn't have a lot of flavor (phobos, suppressors, phobos librarian) but the Indomitus wave brought it back in the right direction.

I think it's telling that people hate on generic intercessor design but you don't see a lot of hate out there online for crusade squads, wolf guard headtakers, or inner circle companions. The refresh just works, I think people will feel a lot better about intercessors when they have time to look at and absorb the new multipart kit.

Rubric box only comes with one soulreaper and one aspiring sorcerer. So you really can’t split the box into MSUs, unless you can find cheap proxies for them. You’re also going to need proxies for Sorcerer characters to attach. And you’ll need to make your own Sorcerers in Terminator Armor because that model has been discontinued and we probably won’t see its replacement till the CSM codex.
From what I’ve been seeing so far in 11th though, people are running rubrics in squads of 10 more often now, and doing like 20 terminators and 10 rubrics, with the rest of their infantry being tzaangors.

Exalted sorcerers are great because they give rubrics 4++ and has a mini-regen to get models back.
Sorcerer on disc is okay, he gives an 18" lone op aura and his torrent is strong in 11e because of psychic buffs. You can't use his 10" move if he's leading the slow ass 6" rubrics though.
Infernal master is balling with a rubric squad not using flamers because of sustained hits 1. Glimpse gives you essentially a free attack and save every round.
The generic chaos sorcerer is the best IMO because of the built in mini waagh by using infernal fuselage and his once per battle ability, plus the lethal hits aura but he'll want to be in a 10 model unit.
Don't bother with the terminator in sorcerer in terminator armor.
Don't bother with tzaangor shaman.
Don't bother with Ahriman.

Thanks man, I have been on /tg/ for too long and I remember the posts of first time players hand wringing over how to equip their dudes. I remember all the people who would make fun of space marine proportions and comparing them to other models from different ranges. Some people might disagree but I think there is a silent majority of people out there that really enjoy the space marine facelift and how much more dynamic the sculpts and poses look (but monopose is a double edged sword).

It's clear that GW made some design mistakes at the start of 8th and have put in work over the last decade to claw back some of that OG grimdark space marine flavor and aesthetic. I really think that the way GW went about the primaris lore put such a sour taste in so many peoples mouths that they have a tendency to judge with a bias. The best of the old space marine sculpts are used to judge the whole of the primaris range, but a lot of the time we really arent seeing 1:1 comparisons of the new models vs the old models they are replacing.

Like the current techmarine sculpt is the best it's ever been. Bladeguards are fantastic, the jump captain sculpt is the best we have ever seen. All the chapter specific heroes are pretty solid upgrades too. Grimaldus was a fantastic upgrade, helbrecht was phenomenal. Literally nothing lost except a change in proportions.

Old marines were already updated 2 times before, and along a rules/aesthetics shake up: 2nd and 3rd ed. And then they got several kit updates over their life time.

At no point that triggered the massive revenue increment that began with Primarchs returning and Primaris, way beyond their previous yearly increases. Marines are GW's biggest selling product, so the only one factor that can explains that. Not only most older marinefags enthusiastically adopted primaris, but lots of new marinefags joined them.

Now you'll talk some pseud shit about muh correlation, or "favouritism" or whatever. But you know you're lying to yourself.

Primaris may have lots of issues (lore, looks, unit design) for more discerning marifags, but GW struck gold with them and that cannot be denied. And by now they've utterly replaced the identity of the old ones as "Space marines" in the minds of pretty much everybody.

tl:dr: Deal with it, stop whining
>>
>>98577278
I really don't know, I think part of it was marketing for sure but if you think back to 8th, there was a legitimate business need to upgrade a lot of those kits. especially the finecast stuff. I also think that lawyers wanted to rework their IP into something more legally defensible, in the same way that the Eldar became the Aeldari and the imperial guard became the astra militarum.

Primaris may have began as an attempt to make space marines more marketable to normies by making space marines a brotherhood of masterchiefs but now a decade later it feels like they made a hard aesthetic pivot back to what made space marines so appealing to begin with.

>strongest LR variant is now cheaper than a 20 man guard squad
GW heavily overvalues the heavy limitation on weapons (meaning they end up on cheap units) and undervalues tanks as a ranged weapon (meaning that close-range tanks are overvalued and long-range tanks are undervalued). At least for the Russ, the Dorn is rather well balanced points-wise for it's utility as a mid-range heavy tank.

its actually insane that you can run 3 vanquishers for less than 400 points, GW seems to think that a 50% chance to miss is why it should be so cheap but forgets that guard orders gives army wide 3+ BS for free and if it stays still its a 2+ and when it does hit its basically a guarenteed tank kill and the damn thing still has like 2 heavy bolters and a lascannon it can shoot. Oh and its one of the more tankier vehicles too, literally anything short of S12 isnt wounding it meaning like several armies just cannot kill 1.

>Now that Jes Goodwin is finally retiring I wonder what will happen...

When I heard of his retiring I really wondered if he stuck around just to oversee this redesign project that is concluding.

GW has 30+ years of lessons learned- they know what to do and what to avoid, They have a country full of creatives that grew up during 3rd and 4th edition that would love to work for them. GW has every reason to continue to succeed here but if they fail then It's easier now than it's ever been for an upstart company to come in with rival products. I am not too worried about the company but I am not worried at all with the hobby as a whole.

>>98577595
I think the most enduring problems here is that GW has never been very forthcoming with why they felt primaris was necessary or what their goals were.

My guess is that they believed that the changes were so extreme that they needed an in-universe way to justify (and continue to sell) both firstborn and the new models on the battlefield simultaneously without breaking immersion as they went through what would become a decade long redesign.

>>98577591
ugly is subjective, I can see some of what you're describing like overdesign (looking at you, desolation squad) but the motocross helmet has existed in lore, it's basically just a less slanted mk 4 helmet.

you don't have to like it, The ankle and knee flanges I think are an attempt at adding additional visual interest to a place of the model that was increasing in size.

3 Vanquishers costs 405 points. The first 2 are 130, the third is 145. 130+130+145 is 405. Add 15 to that if you want the hull guns to be lascannons for 420 for 3. You can add a fourth that's a Commander (who can give that BS boosting fire order to all 3 of the others with Calm Under Fire) for 635 points total, with all of them having hull lascannons.
>basically a guaranteed tank kill
With what I listed here, that's 4 shots per turn with an 83.3% chance of occuring that each do AT MINIMUM 7 damage. And then you add the lascannon in each of them if your opponent is inside of the 4 foot range of that gun, instead of just the 6 foot range of the Vanquisher cannon.
These odds are a LOT more than "basically." That's more than an 80% chance of killing anything your tank can see, every turn, and you have 4 of them. I fully intend to run this list into the ground to laugh in the face of my marinefag friends who refused to hear any claims of marines being annoying or unfun to play against at times.

The solution to Vanquishers not being the objective best option is a redesign of terrain layouts and cover (or making it a casemate and making facings matter on vehicles), but that would require GW to make an actual wargame again.

Devastators have no real replacement.
Even when giving 4 all the same loadout, they also were supposed to have bolter marines as meat shield noobs.

The primaris heavy weapons units are a mess. A mix of tacticus and gravis and rifle weapons. Desolation are no replacement for real missile launchers.

At least we should have got a CSM havoc equivalent squad with Gravis and forcing a mono loadout.

Yeah. No. Devastators had 4 heavy weapons. Hellblasters and desolators have between 5 and 10. Erradicators have a single multimelta per 3 models and a completely different weapon for the others while also being gravis and on 40mm bases.

I've heard people say this stuff before but it feels rooted in opinion more than reality.

a big problem with oldmarines were that new players would buy these expensive boxes and then get scared when building them, the special weapon bloat was out of control. it didn't feel good for new players to buy a box of marines and then agonize over their wargear options.

>>98578017
A dread is a dread, the new dreads look more imposing on the battlefield, The height increase is justified. The ballistus dreadnought is basically just a better looking ironclad.

I don't think we are done with dreads either, it feels like an eventually for the venerable dreadnought to return and I imagine it will receive more of the classic dread design queues that you feel are missing.

yes, but that was GW doing a bad job with the rules and kits. And after 2e the Devastators kit was designed intentionally to make players having to buy 2 boxes to make them all the same loadout.
Compare that with what the HH game does with upgrade sprues.

Anyway, GW could sell different Gravis kits with dual loadouts each. A sane version of the current schizo kit variants.

And they still keep calling them bolt rifles and give them different rules to every other boltgun in the game and are still way too long. Then we also have carbines that look exactly like boltguns should but are also a different weapon with different rules for no reason.

I think you're focusing too hard at the size of the dreadnought, i think I remember you last night explaining that they can't fit into confined space hulk spaces at their current size. While I agree that is valid, I don't think you can justify keeping dreadnoughts small on the tabletop over that.

They are big, people get excited when they put them in their army. People get excited to paint them. They feel like a centerpiece to a collection now.
>>
>>98578144
Put yellow on first, you can do straight Averland Sunset if you want. Then a 1:1 mix of abaddon black and black templars contrast for the stripes. You can use Tamiya masking tape to get perfect stripes.

If you want to do a little extra, get a sponge and dab on some Averland to make it look nice and worn.
>>
>>98578148
Not everything needs to be gigantic. Dreadnoughts weren't supposed to be gigantic by default. The biggest, rarest dreads, the leviathans, were big. The rest were not even twice as tall as a regular marine. Redemptors are fine as long as they occupy the same niche as leviathans, not the one filled by castraferrums.

No, because TDA was never a smaller version of a dreadnought, it was just given the name to reflect its purpose and role. Then FW decided to make Contemptor and Tartaros have similar designs to draw attention to it and GW followed up with the Saturnines. It's just flanderization because retards at GW have no ideas left.

aspiring champion means like the person that the warband leadership has entrusted to lead the squad.

Chosen are people favored by the forces of chaos, likely from impressing the dark gods as a legionary.

It's kind of up to you for how your warband handles chaos worship. maybe your legionary was performing some dark augury involving the entrails of a slave and felt compelled to invoke khornes power before a great battle. maybe your warband only accepts one gods gift, maybe a rising power within your warband represents another god over your patron (and seeks to usurp you).

maybe your warband goes the abaddon route and uses each god as a tool, knowing they will give their gifts frivolously.

it's really up to you.

you can have that opinion but most companies cannot justify that as a business decision.

Think about it this way: Accessible space marines post 8th have done a great job at funding a bunch of armies that probably would not have ever existed otherwise. If you're looking for granularity then there is a bunch of other factions to suit your wants.

It's because the new editions don't actually simplify the overall game at all. It simplifies all the core rules that could benefit from some actual meat, and moves all the complexity over to datasheet bloat and mission scoring bloat instead. So you end up with a game that lacks detail where it needs it and has too much detail where it shouldn't have it. It's the worst of both worlds.

That's one theory. I'm not fully sure I ascribe to it, but it's possible. I think it's a mixture of that, and incompetence, and tourney bias because somewhere over the last 10-15 years they got the bright idea to hire new devs from the compfag autist tournament circuit instead of the old way of doing things which was to hire creative guys who could also write lore and conceptualize the game as a narrative. And there's also the fact that the executives are constantly meddling in the stuff that the actual talented designers put out (you can find interviews with guys who used to work for GW who explain this, some of them were actually good and cool dudes with great ideas and they were just constantly fucking kneecapped by GW forcing bad decisions).

It's my favorite of his (Fire Caste is a close second). In addition to being a fun 40k story in its own right, it's a complete tour of the genestealer lifecycle (with POVs from almost every generation) and a case study of the full history of a genestealer cult from the first purestrain genestealers making planetfall to its eventual discovery by the host planet and the chaos that comes after. If anybody was looking for an enjoyable way to get a 360-degree view of what genestealers are all about it's the perfect document. It tells you everything you need to know about them. I continue to be impressed with how Fehervari's able to work so much "game" stuff into his novels without being awkward about it.

Why does GW do this to themselves
Why not make them all the same general scale
Why did they even do this autism with primaris vs firstborn when it could (and should) have just been "they're the same tactical squad, but now to a 'proper heroic scale'"
Just make all the NEW ones the same size and have the old ones still be legal
Let the new sculpts speak for themselves that people would want to "upgrade" naturally

if anything, new kits are going even HARDER into being tactical squads. the new boyz have a burna you can take, and a little grot who won’t be a token given he has a gun. they also axed the burna boyz specialists meaning the only burnas you can take are from the boyz kit.

Speaking of MWG anyone tried their terrain? What did you think of it?
>>
>>98578759
>Why does GW do this to themselves
Because they are autistic and also retarded. Autistic in "we must represent the lore accurately" (however they apply this schizophrenically at best, aka sometimes something has to be lore accurate sometimes not)
Retarded in doing dumb shit.

Primaris should've just been the new scale for all marines and I stand by that.
ALL marines, even CSM, should've been updated into the same scale and proportions as primaris.
This would also actually be good kitbashing because it's much easier combine pieces, relatively speaking, when all the said pieces have same standard size.
Like want some chaos corrupted primaris who have to make do with what they get their hands on? You just add a shin from a CSM kit to make it look like an adhoc repair.

Yeah so you can’t really just have two differently sized models representing the same thing with the same statline, it would make the smaller models just better lol
>>
>>98578778
>would the model size not affect targeting?
It would, but then that needs to also be considered against consumer sentiment/goodwill and how much that tiny height difference even fucking matters in actual gameplay, which isn't very much outside of WAACfaggotry.

We already have different heights for the "same" unit as well; Krieg guardsmen models are taller than Cadian models. It's to a lesser degree than the different marines of course, but the principle still applies, and indicates that the issue of vision and detection should be considered with more math and consideration ("gamification" I guess?) behind the decisions, like most things that GW's game rules struggle on.

It's skill issue and materials issue. I've never worked with shitty craft paint, so I can't give in depth guidance. But I can restate:
If you're losing detail your paints aren't thin enough.
If you aren't getting the coverage you want use more coats

Craft paints like that CAN be used, but as has been said, the pigment count is lower, so you may need to use more thinned coats to get full coverage. I often use them for less important things or as mix-ins (ie. adding a generic white to lighten acolor). But my main paints are from bands actually formulated for use on small miniatures. There are many brands out there aside from GW's like Vallejo, Army Painter, and Pro Acryl.

I feel like this is 100% a patience issue, 'two thin coats' is a meme but with thin paint you can always add another thin coat, with thick paint it goops up and then you might have to strip with rubbing alcohol and start over.

Ok. I'll just have to practice more. I'll give it another go on another set of Khorne models tomorrow. Looking at a Vallejo paint set now, even though it's like 10x as expensive as the Wal-Mart paints I was using. Any brush recommendations? The Wal-Mart brushes I was using also aren't too friendly, very stiff and I already fucked one up.

>Looking at a Vallejo paint set now,
You don't need a set. You're painting Khorne berserkers, so you need a bright red and a gold. If you care about details get a silver and a brown too. That plus a shade paint (Nuln Oil, Agrax earthshade or equivalent) should be all you need to get these guys to a decent standard.
>>
>>98578586
>super short half-life but if thats the case what's stopping the material from just decaying inside the grenade before its used
Because they are created on-site.
Nitrogen 16 decays in a few seconds and emits gamma rays, and it is created from stable Oxygen.
So, if you were to throw a canister if Oxygen, and dose it with radiation just before impact, you would release seven seconds of radioactive Nitrogen 16. Nitrogen cannot be stopped by a gas mask; you'd need a sealed circuit rebreather (and to engage said rebreather beforehand).
Seven seconds later, you can move in and assault the irradiated target, after most of the nitrogen has decayed and dispersed into the atmosphere.

I've been painting for over a decade and never bought a set. You don't need it. If you're just painting one army you only need a few paints. I just buy paints as necessary. You did say in a previous thread you're on a budget.

In terms of Chaos Space Marine legions, which ones are buddy buddy and which ones not so much in regard to dispositions towards each other? Example, I imagine World Eaters don't get along with anyone and I imagine Iron Warriors probably don't either. Actually, the more I think about it, the more it seems like Chaos Space Marines just hate everyone. Are there any two legions who would greet each other with a hello and not a I FUCKING HATE YOU!!! Many are saying this because it's true. The issue with the older Space Marines was proportion and posing, not the armor design. They had squat little men with giant heads that were about the same height as Guardsmen wearing armor that didn't seem like it would fit a muscular super soldier inside it. The armor design itself, especially the classic Mk.7 angry face, gothic arch-grilled helmet is such an iconic design that made 40k Space Marines instantly recognizable.
All they had to do was update the models to have Primaris proportions and maybe add some dynamic poses. The Terminator and Land Speeder refreshes prove that this works. You could even keep the Cawl shit in if they're set on moving the story forward. Just make it so that he's streamlined the Astartes creation process and has secretly been making new Legions, complete with all the baggage that entails.

I've been into 2 "Warhammer" stores in my time (within the past 5 years), so ymmv with the very low sample size, but my experience has been bad.
>One had twice the inventory of AoS than they had for 40k entirely, and there were more HH boxes than there were for Sisters and Guard (my 2 main armies) combined.
>The other has a "proper" distribution of inventory (in that it wasn't obvious which game was the majority), but the 40k section was ~1/3 Marines and ~10% the Armageddon box (it had come out like 2 days prior to me going). There was exactly 1 Leman Russ in the entire store (which I bought).

Yes. Then you have a killteam and two anti tank units for 40k.

I like the technique of painting the stripes white and going over them with contrast. AP makes a good shadowy yellow contrast that I think looks good. A lot of citadel ones are too lemon-y, but I've had luck toning them down with agrax
Tape if possible is okay, though I mostly just draw them now and have come to prefer that. If it's something tiny, like the hoses on a neophyte, I will not really do stripes exactly, more like dots. Nobody can ever tell
