>here's a thought experiment : what if AoS was a game-within-game for 40k ? Imagine that the Imperium design and massively sell AoS as a propaganda tool for human teenagers and kids : Sigmar is meant to be an alternate version of the Emperor and Stormcast are intended to represent Space Marines with the whole "forged in lightning" thing being a way to depict gene modification in a way that superstitious children can understand; the game also teach them to hate Xenos (Orruks, Aeldari...) and of course Chaos
>>
>>98579531
Tau are the gayest faction in the setting and therefore a containment faction for retards. The dark eldar could make an infinite pain engine just by trapping you in a room with a Tau fan who won't slobber over being the only good goys in the setting. The Tau are so gay they make the eldar look masculine by comparison. They also by far have the largest percentage of brain addled weeb coomers. Hopefully the Tau all get ass blasting cancer from exposure to nurgle csm.

Alright when will GW make 40K version of Skaven? They are the most iconic non human faction in AOS by far. And especially if Chaos Daemons get squatted Chaos is boring since you only have different flavours of spiky space marines and a worse version of imperial knights. Skaven would bring variety for Chaos.

One of the things I always find funny about people arguing about good guys / bad guys in 40K is that its literally a separate universe with no Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, etc. Western Civ never happened. Enlightment never happened. Liberalism never happened. Modern era never occurred.

The metaphysics of the day have extreme material consequences. But sure, you would have the presuppositions of 21st century Ameritard because you are so special and unique :^)

I think as a fan you need to do a personal canon adjustment, otherwise fundamental stuff like the emperor, the warp, chaos, etc become so horribly written it ruins the setting completely. The lore was vague enough around 1st edition to make everything work.

Plus as a public corporation who likes money, they are never going to official answer what happened to the Catholic Church, Islam, etc if that is the intended lore.
>>
>>98579666
Also did the terminators and that required a lot more gap filling than i expected, didn't think the chaos terminator legs would be such a bitch to work with space marine ones that aren't some wierd niche design.

But overall i do think it gels a bit better than the red corsair stuff.

Also with corpse starch you will probably at one point just get a prion disease since let's be honest Imperial technology isn't advanced enough to not get any brain or spinal fluids in the corpse starch. And all you need is one person with CJD disease to be recycled improperly (and in a hive city 100k people a year will get that) and just like that you get Kuru aka Mad Cow disease that came from humans eating humans.

In reality basically almost all Imperial citizens will die because of Kuru in 40K world due to eating human corpses.

Just starting Warhammer 40k
I'm interested in the AdMech but I hear they aren't good. I'm particularly interested on focusing on dragoons with lances and kastelan robots since they are my favorite designs. Can they synergize well in battles? How would you recommend building around them?

Tau and Astra Militarum strategies seem to readily make more sense with army strategies but they don't hit like AdMech does visually so I want to learn how to use them.
>>

>Bungie writes a setting where every religion but one collapses in the face of their in-setting apocalypse (the one remaining was avoided purely due to fear of muslim backlash)
>but GW can't do this
I'm not the Destinyfag, it was just the most obvious comparison.
This is one of the reasons that I prefer the vagueness in the plot, it lets people fill it in however they want, and it doesn't matter. Having concretely defined details means now we HAVE to have real answers to these questions.
The Iraq War happening in-setting also implies that somewhere there's a Leman Russ with a heavy stubber in it's pintle mount that has "Tunisia 1942" carved into the receiver.
>>98579714
Do you really want to post your real legal name on 4chan dot org, anon?
>>
>>98579722
DESU the meta changes so dramatically every few months that what would be good now could be terrible late. Admech is worse with this because they're one of the most painful things to build AND paint so you better learn to just love them visually only because they're super expensive model to points wise.

Genuine question, and this is for the lads who know about grey knight lore. Is there a reason they haven't gone through becoming primaris? Is there a lore reason or did gw just sideline their faction and forget to update them? Just curious what the deal is.
>>
>>98579711
>let's be honest Imperial technology isn't advanced enough to not get any brain or spinal fluids in the corpse starch.

The imperium's best technology is in biomedicine and cybernetics, you'd be fine, assuming the people running the planet give a shit about your health

>>
>>98579691
>Plus as a public corporation who likes money, they are never going to official answer what happened to the Catholic Church, Islam, etc if that is the intended lore.

HH books sometimes mention a dead or dying "Catheric" religion on Terra which uses a cross as a symbol; I think it is the religion of the priest in "The Last Church"
my headcanon is that the founders of the Imperial faith took inspiration from the last remains of that religion for the aesthetics and the organization of their cult which explains the similarity

grey knights have no primarch, they're emperor geneseed, can't get the primaris changes

real reason: no shared kits with other marines, so more time and money to update so low priority in the big refresh. They'd get "primaris scale" when the update comes even if the lore has no primaris. Chaos got the same deal.

With Kuru it depends on your genes. (same thing with madcow) If you got unlucky in around 5 years you will show symptoms and after that it's game over. For others it can take multiple decades even 50 years to get those symptoms.

Because madcow is cow to human and not human to human it's symptoms take longer to show up. There's countless Brits right now who actually do have madcow but the symptoms of that will only show when they would be like 120-150 years old. And by that point they will have died of other natural causes.
>>
>>98579757
They fought a war with the Space wolves a founding chapter. Founding chapters are near divine entities, try to hide themselves.
Cawl does not know unless he figured it out in secret via investigation. And the Inquisition would try to kill him if he knew.(before rowboat came back, he would overrule that now of course)

Question;
Do marines actually put any value in the "lineage" of a gene-seed?
So if Brother Big McDickus has his gene-seed extracted and grown into the organs, does the recipient have expectations placed on him as the inheritor of Brother Big McDickus?
Or is that something GW never addresses?

You know why do people act that the Galactic Empire's navy has zero chance against the Imperium of Man's navy when the Executor dwarfs almost all IoM's ships? And with IoM losing a ship is catastrophic because almost all of the bigger ones are relics which they cannot rebuild, since they don't know how. Honestly Galactic Empire doesn't survive 40K universe at all. Not because of IoM (they are losing already with Galactic Empire), orks or Tyranids. But rather Palpatine would fall to Chaos almost immediately (he's obsessed with immortality so Tzeentch would just offer him to become a daemon prince) and drag rest of Galactic Empire to Chaos with him. And as such if you teleported Star Wars galaxy next to the 40K galaxy you just caused Chaos to win everything.

Republic+Seppies vs 40K Universe wouldn't have this because Palpatine would be ousted if he fell to Chaos. As for their chances against 40K. Well if we take the legends number of Seppies having Quintillion Battle Droids it's over. Seppies would have around 50 battle droids for every Imperial Citizen so yeah it's over for 40K. Canon on the other hand yeah it's far more in favour of 40K.

NTA but I could use some specific product links to Canada Amazon.
What holds me back from magnetizing my models is that I just want to build them the way I think is the coolest.
And then worry about fitting them in a game list later.
>>
>>98579938
You can buy magnets on amazon for like $5 for 150 of them. I have a pile of M3x2, M4x2 and M5x3 magnets for various purposes and I had a set of metric general purpose bits sitting around because I used to work for a living.
The Russ isn't an easy first magnetization job either because of where and what you have to cut and the margin of error. Stick with it though, it beats buying 3 more tanks to have duplicate turrets.
>>98579948
I have never had to go up a size, usually that'd be bad for this scale due to cracking/shattering because of material loss. Most magnets are slightly undersized as-is so they're a push-fit if you clean up and chamfer the hole.
You also don't have to buy expensive "for this purpose" drill bits, hobby tax applies here too. Just get a set of general purpose metric bits that contains the sizes you need and go to town.

SW is a galaxy that has an amount of planets more comparable to the Tau than the Imperium, but is also capable of churning out over 25000 Star Destroyers in less than 20 years that are themselves each supposedly capable of locking down an entire planetary system (both of these claims based on a throwaway line in an RPG book from the 90s that have been referenced in multiple other places since). That timeframe discrepancy for materiel turn-around alone needs consideration.

Star Wars Galaxy size is actually larger than 40K Galaxy (though once you remove the Unknown Regions it's only 80% the Size of 40K Galaxy)

In the EU Republic controlled 1.3 million planets (though there's no concrete numbers in Canon). IoM controls "over one million planets" so they roughly control around as many planets.

Is it true that eldar wear pointy helmets because their hair grows up vertically and if they had round helmets it would push down the hair and it's like hella uncomfortable so they use the pointy hats to keep their hair straight up? I don't know where I heard this but I feel like it's a real thing like it's a weird space elf thing it'd be like if you held your hand in a fist all day it's not your hand's resting position but like for their hair. I found some "Dorn weapon Malcador conversion" part STLs.
I might try to reuse the STLs with a Macharius tank STL remake.
What are the measurements of the tank so I can check my STL to being close enough accurate?
Has a database of some sort covered the measurements of the ForgeWorld resin models so one can make sure they're as close as possible to the real things in say Blender before they get printed?

Lastly how likely would I be rejected by players for using what is essentially a bigger target tank proxy of the Dorn tank?

How many of those planets in SW are inhabited? How many are actively paying into the Republic/Empire/Separatists/whatever-government-at-any-given-moment instead of being controlled by pirates or other crime syndicates? How many are just too far out and too backwater to care about in either setting (ie SW Kamino)?
The Republic has no authority in the outer rim in TPM ("Republic Credits are no good here," etc), and the Empire had to deploy specialized forces to Tatooine in ANH to hunt for a set of droids because they too had no forces on-planet beforehand that far out from the galactic core. The SW Empire and the 40k Imperium both do not truly control the territory they claim as theirs. Which then begs more questions and raises more inconsistencies, as always.

Sisters who actually enter battle would likely be roided up hulks and would have the very best nutrient paste available, only containing 5% or less corpse starch. Planet side they'd be very well fed with local delicacies. The Ecclesiarchy tends to spare no expense for their only military order, they are very well funded. Other sisters would conversely likely be fasting often and eating rather bland food, as a matter of monastic life.

I think part of the reason for Warhammer 40k is that everyone knows a lot of Imperial governing ineptitude and incompetence is owed to war grinding down and damaging everything so it working at all even in a severely weakened capacity makes it cooler than Black Library authorial intentions.
Anybody else think this is true?

The creator of Watchmen really hates Rorschach for whatever reason. It is a classic example of trying to portray something as bad and not to be liked being loved by fans.
I think modern Warhammer 40k does this a lot in trying to portray the Imperium as terrible but people end up loving it more.

Absolute lorelet shit. You have never read the Battlefleet Gothic rulebook apparently. 40k ships fucking dogwalk the Star Wars Empire because they are fighting while zipping around at hundreds of kilometers per minute, their weapons are generally a billion fuckloads more powerful, their shields are stronger given that they can soak firepower from said fuckloads stronger weapons, and they're launching waves of nuclear torpedoes and shit.

On the one hand that is part of it. On the other, there are places where there is genuine corruption and failure not because of constant warfare but, ironically, the lack thereof. The worst retard moves the Imperium ever makes seems to come from nobles who were born on a planet that's been more or less peaceful (at least to the extent that only commoners are under threat, not the rich leadership) for generations, and so they've gotten complacent and decadent and then an actual threat shows up and they are completely unprepared.

Armour can be made to look a certain way, it is rigid after all. Underneath it only makes sense SoBs would look like Olympic (non-fat) wiehgtlifters or sprinters. Sure they can have pretty faces, but I'm sure 30 years of killing the emperors enemies would leave some scars.
>>
>>98580251
>Most aren't
I'd say most probably are, actually. The point of the genetic modification was to make them more adaptable to varied environments and climates in order to colonize planets all over the galaxy. Tens of thousands of years of natural selection would make that strain far more successful than the "pureblood" humans of Terra, and explains why we have shit like abhumans and so much mutation going on everywhere to the point that one of the main concerns of the Imperium is keeping muties in check and a lot of their propaganda is like "Kill the MUTANT, burn the heretic, purge the alien". Mutation is at the top of the list and mentioned alongside things as serious as Chaos worshippers and fucking Orks and Tyranids.

It's a midwit's argument that you can't associate with anything in relation with the setting because of IRL morals.
For example, starship troopers is an authoritarian setting, ergo you can't sympathize with the characters in the setting, nor daydream about wanting to shoot alien bugs. In addition they'll tell you that humanity is bad and that the bugs were unjustly disturbed and never really go beyond that which ties into the whole suicidal empathy dogslop when it just boils down to it's fucking cool being a scifi soldier in a gritty setting shooting aliens.

It's a meme that started with insufferable leftoid pseuds on twitter claiming that chuds didn't understand that certain properties were apparently "making fun of them" because they didn't go to college to be indoctrinated by some faggot marxist teaching them to interpret all media through a heavily biased pretentious lens that always conveniently supports their leftist groupthink. It started to blow up around Starship Troopers discourse because they are retards that don't understand (or pretend not to understand) that we fully KNOW when some subversive cuck lefty director makes a movie to attack our positions, but that sometimes they fail so spectacularly it actually backfires and reinforces our point instead.
>NOOO IF YOU DON'T COME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION AS US YOU'RE NOT MEDIA LITERATE!!!
Just the usual ironic leftoid projection. It got to the point where they would say this about everything, including stuff that had right wing creators who would come out and explicitly be like "no I was just being straight up with that it wasn't satire you retards" and thus prove what we all knew all along which as that the leftoids are completely full of shit and sniffing their own farts. Thus calling them the "media literacy crowd" now has become a title of mockery.

Has media literacy as a thing died down after the justified mockery of it especially when used where it really isn't deep beyond being a setting some British nerds started for a laugh?

I think media literacy can be applied to something like LOGH but that's the one I think would work of a media I like. Even then I think the work was intended to make people think and come to conclusions from the start after being a cool story of space America vs space Prussia with spaceships.

I wonder if it is possible for the Battlefleet Gothic ships to be able to do flight formation fights like in LOGH but I think they were intended to be like the Napoleonic naval warfare but in the "sea" of space.

Really though I don't know why they should be upset about Warhammer 40k making fun of their beliefs by making a universe where religious fascist atrocities is justified. If I may put on the media literacy cap I'd say Warhammer 40k is like a "checklist" of threats mankind must face for fascism to be "justified" like emergency military powers enacted because the nation is under siege.
Except the grimdark added in is that all it can do is delay the inevitable extinction.
But I'm out of my SJW phase I had in my preteen years. I wonder how many people I made become right wingers just by being the insufferable little shit I was on Twitter/Tumblr.

But none of what I said matters because the woman who was part of the primarch makings had a girlboss moment and decided to scatter the Primarchs.
Thus the writer has knowingly or most likely unknowingly written that the galaxy in Warhammer 40k was damned to be a nightmare because a woman messed up a man's plans.
Man's plans may not have worked but the result of messing them up was pretty bad with lasting consequences.
The lore bandaids to cover up the girlboss goof are probably already made or soon to cover this up.

He knew that the primarchs would get corrupted but he needed them to act as loyal generals just to unite humanity since they'll take longer to be corrupted by chaos than your average humoid. He was also on a very short timescale as the entire thing revolves around the window to be able to warpjump while he could still move around and be active. A lot of retards don't get that warptravel atm is partially possible because the immortal cripple is constantly holding back chaos to keep warplanes open with the super duper golden chair that he had to make during the crusade.

people sort of underestimate quite how much of Warhammer and Warhammer 40k came out of the '80s in the UK and some of its sort of contemporary things that started around about the same time, things like 2000 AD and Judge Dredd and that kind of stuff. They were all essentially satirical responses to the Thatcherite government and what life was like back then. So there is a huge element of knowing satire and commentary within them and in things like Judge Dredd that is sort of on the nose. It's obvious that it's a sort of a satirical take on the fascist police state, I suppose. In Warhammer, I think it's more deeply hidden because it's also a game and people get lost in the sheer fun of playing it, but I think it always comes back to that.

My most recent game was a demo game against myself to learn the rules. It was take and hold ceramite sentinels smurfs vs invasion fleet take and hold nids.

https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/list/wDRyg

https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/list/wxmh3

The marines won and it wasn't particularly close. Everything in marines lines up so well and anything Titus's unit touches instantly dies regardless of if it's a monster or swarm. In all my games I have not found a way for whatever faction I'm pitting against the marines to take any objective he sits on. It's insane.

I will probably do another demo game this weekend. I don't live near a store so I've gotten good at these games just seeing what the dice say about lists I come up with to go against each other.

I don't keep close track of who wins but I still know it's marines by far. SoB, nids, and eldar almost always lose to them. The games that are sob vs eldar are always the closest and most fun imo and they have the most decisions.

Lower cost on Battleline. Comparing them to intercessors is a joke.

Lower cost on Retributors. Comparing them to Eradicators is a joke.

About double or perhaps even triple the detachment options. There's no reason for a faction to have about 3 good detachments while marines have 23 to choose form and most are fine or good. You could even literally copy and paste a few generic ones like Ceramite Sentinels, Armored Speartip, and Ironstorm Spearhead without changing anything about them and they would be strong and flavorful for SoB.

Just get rid of the current faith dice system. GW way overvalues it compared to marines just getting full rerolls on everything. Being able to spend a resource to place a 6 in a pool of shooting dice is worse than the marine player who just gets full rerolls on oath or with sternguard or assault inercessors etc.

A gun that actually wounds monsters/vehicles on a 3 or 4 would be nice too. Meltas are all short range and S8/9, and the Castigator is S8/9 or fewer shots for S10. Just give us a lascannon but call it something else.

Every time a SoB player complains, people say "Morvenn Vahl is insane just play her" but that's not really what anyone wants when they design a faction. Nobody wants one mandatory unit that is good that deflects any complaint about the rest of the book. And even she is just boring, she's good because....she has full rerolls and +1 to hit and wound. It's the most generic type of strength. It's not a super cool or unique identity, she just stat-checks you with full rerolls. Having one unit that carries the tournament win rate so that the rest of the book doesn't get meaningful buffs is such a lame situation to be in. Delete her, then spread that power into every other unit in the book so it's about the same but is spread out.

Add bikes/horses with churchy bits.
Add the corvus blackstar with chuchy bits.

Meltas being mid is still such a bizarre fucking decision. They literally have the anti rule to address meltas without making them a generic "kill everything" stick like plasma is, but they just don't apply it to meltas for seemingly no reason.

rick priestly made it as a wargaming setting. it's a mash up of many things including 2000 AD. However for something to be satire, it has to be the primary intent and driving force behind it. WH40K was intended to be a cool fictious wargaming setting to have fun playing games. How they decided to fill out any specific details is irrelevant. If it turns out JR rowling decided on a character name after consulting tarot cards, that doesnt make the entirety of the harry potter narrative an occult ritual.

it's just a coincidence and a lack of creativity, but if you want to feel funky you can imagine that some alien races are made similar to something else to help you convert them, even though in this case you would do better by using aos ghouls or a genestealer

>Ctesias saw the daemon with Silvanus' eyes and knew what it was. It was old. So old that it floated free of the dominion of the great four daemon gods. The Father of Plagues in its guise as the King of All Despair had once claimed it, but even that had been tenuous, and the daemon had broken free of the Plague Father's rule. The grief of widows and children for those claimed by seas had been the seed from which it had grown. Into that the fear of sailors had added shape, and the flesh and bones of the drowned had gathered in its gullet. The blood poured by mariners to calm storms, the trinkets kissed by voidsmen as they felt their hulls creak, the ghosts trapped in wrecks never found – all fed the dream of its being. It waited in the dark layer of water just out of sight of the surface, waiting, looking up, hair and fingers stirring the lightless depths of sea, lake and void. It had uncounted names: the Angel of Deep Water, the Mother of the Drowned, the Lightless Hunger. Ctesias had heard of it but had never seen it. Now he did, and the grinding, ancient power in it almost made him shut his inner eye. He did not, though. He started to think.

Ehhhhhhhh, Orks aren't really getting more elite. Ork support lost all its FNP and some of its invulnerable saves, plus things like big mek in mega armor losing its every turn heal. A lot of ork units got more fragile at a faction level.
So Orks got deadlier, but less durable. And then went up in points. While Space marines are getting deadlier and going up in durability. So I expect space marines points to going up even more percent wise than Orks. Which went up 15-20%.

>>
>>98581600
>Isn’t glaze medium plus one’s desired paint enough nowadays?
You don't even need medium honestly. There is a difference between using water and medium but it's not pronounced.
>Probably more simpler than lots of water but did contrast paints make glaze paints obsolete?
They were obsolete when they launched since you could do the same thing with normal paints. Thinning contrast paints gives you more of a shade paint than a glaze.

Marines are losing power from abilities and army rule (oath vs doctrines), with detachments likely to follow the same limited scope as Orks. FNP also gone from Infiltrators, so they're more flimsy than before. Some units will go up 20/25%, others will get cheaper.

The Ghaz novel has a 60/40, maybe 70/30 ratio of greenskin to human page time. It's about an inquisitorial retinue interrogating Makari to learn about Ghaz. Has some good orky moments. There was a short story about Grotsnik published before it and it fills in bits of the story from Grotsnik's perspective, so if you want a sample of what the full novel reads like, you could check that out first.

What will happen to the sister Rhino if the Rhino gets Primaris rescaled? It doesn't make sense for us due to Sisters being smaller than Marines. And it would ruin the synergy with the Exorcist, Castigator and Immolator due to those being regular Rhino sized. (and I don't see them refreshing these as they use a completely different Sprue from the regular Rhino)

I see one of 3 thing to happen:
1 We will keep our current Sister Rhino which uses the 20+ year old Rhino sprue
2 We will get a Deimos Rhino with a sister sprue included (all the other Sister vehicles are based on the Deimos Rhino anyway)
3 We will get our own Rhino using the Sister Rhino based vehicle sprue. In which case unless they include a different front end, would mean our Rhino has a front heavy bolter as well.

I feel like making these faction skins of the already ruins would be really easy, no?
>votann has a blocky industrial aesthetic
>tau typically have rounded metal stuff but they could have something like energy shield emplacements or just put rounded corners on the edges
>wraithbone already has an organic bone appearance like the spiky gothic ruins, or you can have stony/mossy maiden world ruins
>giant chitin growths for tyranids to hide in
Demon/chaos might be the only odd one out, but even then the monogods can have their own uninspired things.

Yep I started buying sisters less than a year before they went plastic and I bought them specifically because I like metal models over plastic. So them being the only metal army kind of sealed the deal. I do wish I bought more of them back in the day because metal sisters are so expensive now in the second hand market and I don't want to buy plastic sisters outside of vehicles and units that were never metal.

I'm right now buying metal cherubs even though they were never included with sisters because I play games with them. And I don't want to use empty bases as markers. But honestly I should finish my pile of shame since I got around 50 sisters painted battle ready. But I still have like 30 infantry left and all my vehicles are basecoated only.
>>
>>98581864
My headcanon is that when Imperial Guard was forbidden to use the Rhinos and the Space Marine legions were forced to downsize, there were just piles and piles of Deimos Rhinos which couldn't be used. And the ecclesiarchy bought them for the pennies on the dollars for themselves.
>>
>>98581849
the gw sculptors have the effort vs reward problem which causes a disparity between what they make and what actually gets into production
sculptors could make all of these but then GW has to ask themselves how successful they'd sell before putting them into production
the faction terrain pieces would realistically only be bought by fans of those factions, plus add the fact that terrain is like the one thing GW officially approves proxies or third party sculpts of in sanctioned games
they've probably ran the numbers on thos before and came to the conclusion that their default imperial crap is the most effective terrain to produce and sell since
>>
>>98581883
Yeah with Terrain they are truly competing against 3d printers and third party makers. Let's be honest even if GW forced Terrain to be GW Terrain only no tournament outside of GW tournaments would follow that. And certainly no one in casuals games. And if you go to a GW tournament they will provide terrain already.
>>
>>98581875
>But I still have like 30 infantry left and all my vehicles are basecoated only.
One of the things (and there are several) stopping me from buying a new army is not wanting to have to paint it. I already have an Ork army but I really like the Knight models but I think painting them is too intimidating. Most of my Orks aren't painted the best because they were my first attempt at painting 20 years ago. I just don't think I can do the Knights justice.
>>
>>98581883
I made my own terrain but I took exact measurements of the GW ruins and pencil them on to my foam board before cutting. The train is actually much better suited for Necromunda than 40k because it is very dense, way to dense for a balanced 40k match unless I only use half of it.

ive got so many fucking rust effects and never settled on one. AK have such a vast variety of rust effects and they are all quite decent. which pigments did you get? the AK wargame enamel pigments (dark and light rust) are good but a bit finnicky
>>
>>98581886
Yeah I started painting sisters when I got somewhat better but my Marines my fucking god did I butcher them as a 10 year old. But honestly it's kind of refreshing when I paint them every now and then because with them I don't stress painting them, since I have decided to never strip and repaint the models I painted as a 10 year old. So with my marines I'm holding myself to the standard that the result will only have to be slightly better than the 10 year old painting I did.

With my sisters though I'm holding myself to a much higher standard since I got decent at painting when I painted my first sisters. So all my sisters will have to be that level at the very least.

That happened like a month ago, yea.
It was like this (a kit and a separate upgrade sprue) before 9th edition, so at the very least the decision itself wasn't unheard of.
The part that should get you on this is that they increased the price when they originally bundled the upgrade into the kit (understandable, it's more plastic), but then they didn't reduce the price when they split it back into two, so now Baneblades cost $40 more.
GW are greedy and act in a stereotypically hebraic manner with their business decisions. Most of the price increases cannot be justified by inflation or UK carbon emissions fees and taxes, it's just "we want more money."

Your options are to not engage with them (whether via quitting entirely, playing other games or using 3rd party proxies), become a printfag, or accept your lot and be a paypig.
You can get an entire starting army in Bolt Action or Konflikt '47 for the price of a Baneblade and the sponson kit, for example.

Well the way I look at it, would you be fine with paying 100pts for Eldrad to get 10 ablative wounds and 20oc? You can just park that brick on an objective and never shoot to keep hidden while protecting it with some Wraiths to threaten a counter charge or overwatch with Dscythes. I agree though the change is really stupid overall. You could keep Eldaddy hidden well enough on his own but he will for sure be a much more tempting target. If you just accept this it's fine, maybe he lives two or three rounds and dies but you should have gotten his value back. If you try to protect him then it's a little more restricting, you'll have to keep something threatening near him, which might discourage any attempts on his life, but maybe that's a win in of itself.

I generally do not mind primaris units but the invictus warsuit is probably one of the most egregious examples of shitty primaris design. right up there with the ATV and the shitty land speeders.

it really feels like they wanted to create a different dreadnought pattern while still using 85% of the redemptor dread kit. if that was their goal then the "baby carrier" vibe makes sense as a design concession. Still doesn't make the model good though

>tfw my LGS still has one of the old space wolves combat patrols with the invictor and intercessors. nobody is buying that fucking thing.
>>
>>98582214
Combat patrol, after that just get another squad of sacs and a box of warsuits separate.
>>
>>98582214
Armageddon box has Paragon Warsuits, which are the only selling point of that box IMO. You can get them separately for $70 from a 3rd party vendor, so that's ~$100 for the rest of the units in the box that you (probably) won't play. Good deal money-wise, bad deal items-wise.

All the units in the Combat Patrol are worth having around. Good deal money-wise, good deal items-wise. Get it.
Buy a box of Paragon suits separately (and Morvenn Vahl) later once you find out that SoB have no solid anti-tank in the current roster.

Have you decided on your patriarch's color? I'd suggest starting on it first, as the colors of your hybrids will depend heavily on it if you want consistency as they all will feature alien skin and chitin and whatnot as his descendants. In line with the orange & teal maymays, if you want your jumpsuits to be orange, then you can get away with blue/teal chitin.
My cult is burgundy & dark green. All the jumpsuits are dark green and the banners and other clothes are burgundy.

because vandire was a dick and amassed too much power in his hands, so after him the ecclesiarchy was put under the decree passive, which meant it wouldn't be allowed to have "men under arms", the sisters of battle got a pass because they're women, and because they had a big part in putting down vandire at the end of the day.

in meta terms, men aren't allowed because blanche wanted hot bdsm combat nuns and the only way for women in combat roles to make sense is to get out of the equation the possibility of men being able to cover the same role.

Question for anyone on the printing side of the hobby, how averse are anons to using torrents for stl sharing? I may or may not have access to a 3d scanner and want to give scans freely without getting assblasted by james's fuckhead lawyers. The way I see it, if the fuckmothering music industry and the GOT DAYUM FILM INDUSTRY still can't stop torrents in the (current year), then gw will just have to sit and seethe about it since there's not some central entity they can c&d or dmca.
The only question that would remain is getting the torrents out there cause I am retarded, but you already knew that since I'm here.

A world where there are literal portals to another dimension with fantastical sci-fi tech pouring out of them and the ability to raise the dead can't make synthetic rubber or an equivalent at-scale for the Germans, who in real life were making synthetic rubber (Buna rubber) at-scale for their military purposes up to the very end?
I agree that a lot of the walkers (German spider ones especially) are weird and not to my taste, but rubber is one of the easily hand-waved things in the setting, because it wasn't one of the "serious" real-world materials shortages. Yes there were shortages, I'm not refuting that, but they were never telling a Puma crew "sorry, we don't have enough tires" unless they were already planning to convert that armored car into a fixed gun emplacement.

We know exactly what combat doctrines are, dipshit. You seem very confident about what's going to happen while also saying no one can possibly know.

It was cheaper for the Germans to make a whole truck than the 4 tires for it.
So yes it was. Germany was so resource starved in a dozen ways. Also the whole Axis, no lore bad Nazi's thing is absolute cowardice. The people were fighting for fascism, it was a revolutionary movement, against democracy. Switching that out and maintaining support for the conflict seems absurd.

>cheaper for the Germany to make a whole truck than the 4 tires for it
True, but that's because making steel, even to the hardness and standards and chemical composition (chromium content for armor, etc) that were required for the vehicles of the time, is a far simpler process than chemically synthesizing Buna-S. Of course simpler things are cheaper to do, that's why the world didn't even invest into synthetic rubber until the Japanese locked down the world's natural rubber source.
>Germany
>fighting for fascism
The Germans were very much not fans of fascism, but this is the 40k thread so not the place to have an argument about why Italian fascism and German national socialism are not interchangeable terms.

Is this a depiction of a part in Book of the New Sun? (Jonas fighting off the flying things in Claw of the Conciliator)

It's literally the same text as the combat patrol that's already out in the starter set, which is the same text as for Gladius' Combat Doctrines.

if they were not fans of fascism they could have stopped fighting the bloodiest war in human history for fascism lol.
Or are you going to say the japanese didnt support the Emperor next?

I get it, your a wehraboo, you follow the US post war propaganda of the germans were all good boys and girls, but it was just high command, and the SS who tricked them all. You are why bad things happen in this world.
