I need some help and I dont understand whats going on, but the paint on my model just comes off like nothing. I have nearly 80 hours into working on this mini prior to painting it, and I keep ruining my progress bracing my hands on the mini to paint it. Even the slightest touch just sloughs off the paint like it was never there. In pic related, I decided to run an experiment, intentionally damaging the paint because I was getting suspicious. All this chipping on the abdominal section (anywhere you see the grey sparkling though) was from one single swipe with my thumb: I pressed my thumb to the model with the pressure which I would normally hold or pickup the model, and then slid my thumb about 1/2inch. I painted this abdominal section over a week ago so the paint should be perfectly dry by now. This shouldn't happen, and I dont know what to do or why its happening.The odd man out variable is that I used the kaleido colorworks primer for this mini that I have never used before, but my brother uses it and never has these issues (I used his bottle of primer and his airbrush booth to do it).

What are the best acrylic black and white airbrush primers? I'm talking grip strength, paint gripping to them and just work on metal, resin (washed) 3D print resin if there is a difference and plastic. Ease of use in being as hassle free as possible etc.Please.

Finished another dude. I'm still getting the weird sandy looking texture on the clear coat and I'm not really sure how to fix it. I shake the can for like 5 minutes before I use it and Its only like 75 degree in my house. Maybe its the ambient humidity cause I live in Florida but I'm still not sure. You drop some enamel paint of your choice into the runes, then clean up the surrounding area with enamel thinner on a cotton swab. Reverse washes are an effortless way to paint indented details, since they require precisely zero precision.Any enamel works, but if you want a proper glowing effect then you could use a white enamel, and then go over the top with a bright flouro paint (ideally through an airbrush, but you can also brush paint it). Having a nice solid grip on the model makes things significantly easier and that is what a painting handle does. Regular Gundams are treated like scale models, anything smaller starts to err into our scale of model where you have to paint on things like highlights and exaggerate detail via contrast to make it properly visible at a glance. But at regular Gundam scale most of the time they are breaking up the sub assemblies by colour rather than detail access due to the manner in which they paint them. That is generally unnecessary at our scale unless trying to do everything via airbrush and trying for minimal masking.

If you are blending you don't even really need to do those last two steps to any serious degree. There is no need to do any full system flush or real cleaning between colour changes. But also you are looking at a zoomed in or up close photo of the model under good lighting. If you held that at arms length and tried to make out the details it becomes harder. Which is why we do things like have highlights/shading, and exaggerate detail and contrast to retail detail visually at a reasonable distance for tabletop gaming.

>>98590728Your run of the mill washes fuck everything up 90% of the time because they're designed to be used on RECESSES, not the entire model like GW says for some reason and most people just use them like that nowadays, they're good in select uses by trained hands and/or with self made washes, or at base level paint jobs like if you want a quick army.It heavily depends on the type of wood and the finish, for example for cured bamboo like pic related you could try really dark tones on those connecting parts, then wet blending from the darker tones near those parts to lighter tones in the middle of each.Not sure how you're using the wash, but you could also apply it ONLY on those areas and see how it turns out but ultimately you're gonna have to do layering of some sort in between those dark areas, if you just apply the wash everywhere it's gonna darken the entire stick and have an unnatural shade compared to the rest, depending on the wash color.What I've seen top tier painters do is highlight the grooves and grains of the wood but this applies more for regular wood, probably the sticks, with a very bright color so there's a huge contrast between the shadowed areas and the lighter parts.
