>>98601812>Worst mould lines you ever saw on a kit?I remember I bought a box of Gretchin for 40k, I swear to fucking god the mould lines were like 2 cm out.
>>98601812I think the old blightkings and the mortal rot flys gave me some trouble, but really I haven’t really had trouble with mold lines. Assembly is a different story, those undead wolves are not fun to build.
>>98601812>pic>seconds before disaster
>>98601812I think you can use the blunt side to shave mold lines safer.
>>98601812>Don't drive, just walk to GW as it's not far from me>There's no other game store in my city>Everyone plays 40k at the GW but none for AoS>Everyone that has played 40k has all been curious about Age of Sigmar thoughNow how the hell do I get them all interested in buying a Spearhead?
>>98601928Tell them AOS costs 1/3rd of 40k, we have cooler models, and the game is much easier to pickup.
>>98601812>>98601832i fixed it
>>98601928Easiest way is to roll up with two spearheads and offer to run demo games
>>98601938>>98601928the hardest part is getting them to actually try it. i dont think i've ever met anyone who, after trying age of sigmar, said nah no thankyou. >>98602005this is definitely your best bet. you're gonna have to bite the bullet and have a few for demos if no one is willing to pony up their own spearhead upfront
>>98601928offer to demo the game for them, and bring all painted models along with maybe a bigger monster or centre piece model to show off. helps if u have 2 armies as u can set up a mock battle in a small space. i demo'd how to play on a coffee table and the person was excited to get into it after i explained the game you dont need to go into the intricacies of battle tactics or season rules or manifestations, but just show how the basic phases works. since its warhammer it should translate fairly fluently
>>98601928If you already happen to have two spearheads it's probably as simple as offering to play a demo game. I mean they already said they were interested right?
Hey guys, silly question, but if I wanted to make my own sculpts and stuff do you reckon I'm beter off trying to learn how to sculpt digitally or just with my hands. For the purpose of miniatures of course and just to y'know try to bring some of my own ideas to life.Reason I'm asking is because I've been doing more stuff with greenstuff etc lately and I've really enjoyed customizing my miniatures like that. Obviously a beginner so it's mostly small stuff adding up, but I would like to take it to a higher level if I can.I'm leaning towards hand-sculpting because for my purposes it seems like it has way more immediate benefit, way lower skill floor, get tangible results on your minis, etc. Also seems like if I did eventually want to try out the other, it seems to me like it'd be easier to go from handsculpted to digital than the other way around. Again purely for my own enjoyment not planning to start selling my stuff on etsy or whatever the fuck.
>>98602203if it's just as a hobby for your own enjoyment then just do physical sculpting
Ironjawz=Order faction in denialKruleboyz=Chaos faction in denial
>>98602225nah
>>98602215That's what I'm thinking too, but idk what digital sculpting can do these days.
>>98602225Yeh
>>98602225mebbeh
>>98602203digital sculpting is both easier and will produce much better results if you can get over the technical hurdle, which is really just a couple days to pick up now with modern tutorials and shit. greenstuff may have a lower skill floor to actually put putty on a model or armature, but the skill floor to actually get anything remotely decent looking is much higher than digital. greenstuffs and puttys are a fucking pain in the ass to work with, especially at 28mm scale
>>98601928Ask the clerks if they run events and if they have any planned for Spearhead? You don't run the store and official Warhammer stores usually aren't even places people play at so I'd suggest finding the real lgs or play area/group instead.
>>98596464Azyr is so kino. I'm sad that if we get a good AOS game it'll probably be deliberately trying to ignore all the gonzo kino stuff
>>98602280As someone who is experienced in both, this isn't really true but I believe most people encounter trouble with the learning resources targeting them. With 3d modelling, it's reasonable. With sculpture, people skip traditional clay for worthless niche green stuff tutorials from people who shouldn't educate (hobby secret, shortcut to avoid learning anything!) or attempting without any basic education. If anon has a printer, learn 3D. If he doesn't, buy chavant and learn traditionally before scaling down to air drying clays and epoxies.
Brawlers of Behemat is gonna be sick.
>>98602337I doubt it
scar-veteran on foot?
>>98602337It will be a decent deal for the Terrain and SoB models, but it's not going to be a great all-time game to play
>>98602355I'd assume it's part of the larger coatl mini. Like how the slann also has a baby coatl flying around the base somewhere
>>98602344>>98602365I suppose the nice thing about being a pessimist is you're rarely disappointed
>>98602369No, trust me, I'm disappointed all the time too
>>98602369>is you're rarely disappointedI wish that was the case
>>98602337You will play it once lmao
>>98602337>terrain does nothing to Gargants unless they're crouching yeah, anyone, it'll be a bonified classic like the wizard duel they keep including in WD or sky battles from 2nd edition. I still encounter people at my lgs looking for games
>>98602410The Knight game for 40k is more obvious parallel, since the box contents seem very similar.
>>98602410>bonified
>>98602335unlike regular clays and putties though, greenstuff is sticky. this creates a whole other level of problems when working with it, you need to keep your tools and your surface constantly lubricated, you need to work fast because the material only has a 1ish hour work time tops and any changes you need to make quickly transition from sculpting to carving, dremelling and whittling as the shit turns stone hard over the span of a single sitting. also its damn expensive. its like $20 for a little tube you can get maybe 10-15 scratch made figures out of? and thats not counting all the material you waste, failures and cast off, etc. the scale is so fucking small though it would be difficult to use any significant amount of filler on an armature like you would for larger scale like foil or foam. i really dont think greenstuff is the way to go. even industry best world renowned sculptors like the perrys are getting outshone by independent digital sculptors on MMF and cults. its just a better medium for the scale. if we were talking about 6 inch tall figures or something it'd be a different story, but 28mm scale just does not lend itself well to physical sculpture by hand.
>>98602428>>98602335also a ton of the techniques you learn for clay sculpting just straight up dont work on greenstuff. the sticky, hard springy nature of it means pretty much every technique you learn about how to actually push around the forms or rake to get texture or wire cutting to carve out some quick planes, smoothing scrapers, all of it just doesnt translate at all to the putties people use for 28mm. you try and the material will just deform like you're trying to sculpt a 6 month old gummy bear that was left under a car seatits awful to work with, i really hate it.
>>98602428>>98602437I always advise to learn the fundamentals first to avoid this. People have already figured it out, you just have to follow their process.
>>98602445all the fundamentals in the world dont change the fact that the medium is like trying to work with a half liquified ball of duct tape the size of a quarter
>>98602335>>98602428Counterexample: valbjorn. He can make things by hand that just aren't printable let alone doable with injection moulding. Sure, 3d sculpting has ctrl z and layers and easy duplication of parts and what not, but it's more ambiguous as to how the 3d object looks once printed.I'd recommend sculpey for learning as being able to harden the clay in between seps is very helpful. Not to mention you can get usable bits out of it instead of simply scrapping the work.
>>98602452You don't know what you're doing, anon. It's like someone who doesn't know how to saw panting braced against a beam. I don't know what to tell you other than you're doing it wrong. I didn't even say greenstuff although it is renowned for detail capture. That's your first big mistake.
>>98602454No, chavant is a clay that never cures and that's the standard learning method. It hardens enough to smooth, layer, workable slip, etc. Heat it up again and it's malleable. You can use nothing but if you cast it tbhon.
better yet use ai to generate models now you can generate images and create stls from it no need for difficult and expensive to learn greenstuff or clays
>>98602454the guy with some minor space wolf conversions? am i looking at the right guy? i dont see anything on his insta you couldnt do digitally >but it's more ambiguous as to how the 3d object looks once printed.its really not unless your print settings are bad or you dont know how to support a model>>98602456your vagueisms arent worth the screenspace they take up
>>98602476>NOOOO I WON'T LEARN I JUST WON'T THIS STUFF JUST DOESN'T WORK You can't argue. Your experience says enough. It's fine to give up but don't pressure others into this loser mentality of "it just can't be done". Perry can manage it with one hand, faggot.
guys please don't fight over my question you've all been very helpful :(
>>98602476yeah anything greenstuff can do I can do better with 3d printing. there is no point trying and greenstuff sticks to your hand and hurts to work with i almost cried after mixing a batch of it. it took forever hurt my hands and hardened before I could do anything gw used to HAVE to use it and they suffered but we dont have to
>>98602493
Bear
>>98602587kislev I guess but it could decorate an UW Icebrow hunter or mancrusher probably some random blood bowl thing though
>>98602598Kislev Bloodbowl team?do we know if we are even getting more UW sets at this point? It's not as dead as warcry but it's not really being supported
>>98602587Kislev or maybe some Empire Knights of the White Wolf?
>>98602607boole said it wasn't from any legitimate source and 12 or more warbands were planned. he said it is one of GW's most profitable games so he's never heard of discontinuation
>>98602587This is both an unusually clear and confounding rumour engine. Who the fuck is this for?
>>98602627
>>98602627>it is one of GW's most profitable games so he's never heard of discontinuationi find that hard to believe but I never go to dedicated card shops where a game like UW would do well
>>98602627>one of GW’s most profitable gamesIdk if that was Boole taking the piss out of TGA. Or a leaker taking the piss out of one of the people that are Boole. I have literally never in my life seen anyone playing or talking about underworlds irl, ever.
>>98602634This would imply Boole has sources in the financial department of GW. Which I very much highly doubt
>>98602635>>98602636I have never played UW but own most of the warbands. I think people underestimate how many people play games - these are cheap great little paint pieces or something to collect or use for D&D. When every other box is £40 I think this demographic would buy UW instead. As a teen I would play games by exaggerating unit sizes so one model = 10. I bet a bunch of people play like that with UW too. >Buy a box of Stabbas >These 5 Stabbas are all 20 >Buy UW>Each unit has a unique champion, and you have a bunch of heroes to lead for cheap
>>98602418I just want a kaiju game so bad, and AoS has lots of fantastic kaiju models
>>98602643I would presume it is based on order quantities, given all his leaks are based on printed material. So GW are ordering more UW boxes than other things.
>>98602587is it me or has nearly every old world rumor engine been a disconnected piece from a model? i think this could potentially be ours
>>98602607>>98602627There's actually a bunch of conflicting rumours concerning underworlds. At first one of the leakers (don't remember which) stated that it about to be discontinued, and possibly replaced by another type of skirmish game which would be the heir to both UW and warcry, sort of AoS mordheim with some UW juice added. Then boole said nah it's fine there's like 10 more boxes on the way at least. Then whitefang back me up chimed in and said nah they're definitely killing it.Both are tier 1 rumourmongers so it's interesting that they disagree, somebody is going to have a big hole in their record.Anyway, recently another TGA guy, ejecutor, who apparently has some UW connections (leaked the previous lumineth warband for example) said there's 4 new warbands upcoming, including another vs box in september. However, in response WFBMU doubled down and claimed that unfortunately the lumineth warband is the last ever to be released We shall see in the coming month I guess.
>>98601812>>98601986Thats why i bought a moldline remover. Very good and less damaging the miniature. You ven can use it to sculp the plastic.
>>98602587It's time
>>98602736>Hamilcar is killed by Belakhor and a random female Stormcast takes up his name, swearing revenge
>>98602754You're doing that thing again where you're imagining things that didn't happen and getting genuinely upset over them in the present. You shouldn't do that. It's not good for you.

>>98602901I believe in you
>>98602901
>>98603044
>>98603039>>98603044there are scans so it is easier and cheaper to buy a budget 3d printer and curing station than try to do this in greenstuffyou can edit the pose in blender before prepping to print easily
>>98602901You can go the easier way and cover any and all of the cut and reposed joints with crap, you can make pretty convenient thin bandages and cloths by cutting into strips the packaging of shit like fortune cookies or bags of chips. Also trophies help a lot, especially when they have gory entrails.
>>98603066cheese cloth soaked on modge podge or PVA is like paper mache too but that'll be a realistic texture you can cut up an old cotton shirt too
>>98603078>realistic texturething is models don't have those for the most part
>>98603061>spend £300~ vs £3 milliput wat
>>98603089yeah that's why it was a clarification. you have to like that sort of thing
>>98601928Why isn't the store manager doing anything to promote a solid 40% of the product on his fucking wall?
>>98603096At the expense of the 60% that sells 500x quicker?
>>98602725Lmao fag
>>98603100You don't have to work to sell 40k. Just have it on the wall and it will move. AoS stuff needs to be promoted for it to move. Since his 40k shit will move with literally zero effort, there is no opportunity cost. The manager just isn't putting forth any effort
>>98601928At least you can still play at your gw, they got rid of that here a couple years ago. Sucks because it's also the closest store to me. Weird because the tables are still there and used for demos.
>>98603100If people there already play 40k why the fuck would he spend time promoting it to them?
>>98603130NTA.Believe it or not there are 40k-only’s who don’t know AoS exists despite being stocked literally on the next shelf. I had one such person come ask me what we were playing at my RTT last month. He was genuinely curious and liked how the game/minis looked.
>>98603150Not what i was talking about. Guy said owner was busy promoting 40k to people already playing 40k
my local warhammer store hosted two AoS events: one escalation and one trad 2k tournament. They didn't have enough players for either so they've stopped entirely. In December we get a free for all - bring a mini of any kind and survive a battle royale. That's it. Official stores are just a job to the clerks, they are tired of warhammer and have zero enthusiasm. It's not a hobby for them
>>98603285I misread, my bad.
>>98603299not being a doomer floptard just saying clerks will put no effort in. If AoS events require work, they aren't happening
>>98602778Good us for the terrain kit. Probably a saving too
>>98603299>Official stores are just a job to the clerks, they are tired of warhammer and have zero enthusiasm. It's not a hobby for themsounds like that more of a problam of GW hiring practices.
>>98602587One of the TGA rumour guys is saying this is definitely something aos (i.e. not kislev or wood elves), but not much beyond that. Pelt for dorfs seems like a good guess.
>>98603021Sex>>98602927>on a chaos warriors cockWhat
>>98603516
>>98602225Well it's possible.Could orks actually go against their own instincts of senseless destruction? I mean like the Skaven they're kinda forever tied to a god that just wants things to suck for the fun of it.
>>98603476Well, that and that obvious product of not being a franchiser but a direct owner. Your store's success is basically irrelevant and it's not your store. If someone at a Warhammer store is building a comfortable environment and managing events, that's all on them and honestly it sounds like management would order them to stop if they found out. My local store had a painting day, just chill and paint in the store with everyone else on Thursdays. Get hobbying done. Management ordered it reduced to one hour before closing. People stopped going so the community there is dead. I'll never encounter a new player or anything from happening to pop in on a Thursday for something. Soulless.
>>98603593>Well it's possible.
>>98602225Nah. But Sylvaneth is a destro faction in denial.
>>98603593Old Black Library included Orruks in Cities. They used to be amicable if there was something to krump. Similarly there's a story of KO trading them Maw Krusha eggs.
>>98603575Huh, this one is by Chin too? Never knew that. Guess it makes sense, he also did the 8th edition ungrim one, as well as I think the 8e dwarf cover (which is fucking great)
>>98603593Gorkamorka was initially in Sigmar’s pantheon
>>98603671Yeah when it was convenient to work together & bring down the godbeasts. That obviously fell apart fast because he just wants to keep fighting.
>>98603688Correct. As such I can imagine orcs (at least ironjawz) being more open to mercenary work type of arrangements
>>98603014God, I hope it's really an updated kit for wood elf beastmasters, these guys played a small role in the WE arcane journal storyline and definitively had bears in it so there's a chance
>>98603054I wish I knew how to add the little wave effects to these, I have my sea gargant in water but he's kinda just standing on a hunk of resin effectively. Still looks cool
When the fuck are we gonna get terrain that isn’t just fucking embargard.
>>98603736When the fuck are we gonna get terrain?
>>98603736Scratch build your own terrain anon. It’s fun and soulful
>>98603785Technically, all edition long between spearhead seasons, the new gargant thingamajig, and faction terrain.

>>98602316>>98603096He was but everything got put on hold.
>>98603736When GW decides to commission detailed environmental art for the setting.
>>98603791nah but like, cool terrain.Admitedly I wouldn't mind if we got the little blown out buildings as a whole warcry esque box
>>98603799What is that creature
>>98603903Wojak, or rather CiepłaTwarz.jpg
it's probably my tism getting riled up but i might've made the big fucker's skin a bit too pale compared to the rest of my army, maybe it'll look better when it's finisheddo you guys prefer having all of your models be one cohesive color scheme, or do you vary things up between units and models?
>>98603884I feel like that was almost certainly going to happen, but they scrapped warcry. Like no way they made the terrain for this little meme mega gargant minigame, they just needed to recycle the ones they made for warcry. Same with city of ash.
>>98603968Real bummer for Warcry, the weirder thing is I distinctly remember when city of ash was leaked by whats his nuts he mentioned how it was a double spearhead type box for a new form of spearhead that was replacing warcry...
>>98603959Nice clanrats anon, old and new ones mix really well Also I feel like your clawlord having a distinct colour is kinda neat. Don't worry about it.
>>98603959I think the monstrous mutant being discoloured isn't an issue
>>98602634Thanks god. I hope the new warbands are better and they return the warbands rival decks (with art instead of photos).>>98602643You can follow sales on Ebay/Stores/Distributors and before Embergard it was one of the most sold "2nd grade" product from GWS
>>98604000i'm honestly really thankful the old and newer sculpts for the clanrats mesh pretty well together. if/when i do my stormvermin i might make them a similar color to the clawlord but unsure.>>98604006this was my thought process as well, although my stormfiends are also tan so it doesn't gel as much as i'd like. if they ever make the brood terror not shit again i might paint him really pale too, but that's if i really wanna invest in more moulder stuff
>>98602203Going from a digital sculpt to a physical miniature is literally just a matter of turning a 3D printer on and hitting print.I did a project a few years ago where I hand sculpted some funny creature miniatures, afterwards I bought a 3d printer and recreated the same things digitally, what I learned is that for actually producing a miniature hand sculpting is basically pointless unless you specifically want to learn that skill. When you make something digitally you can edit and iterate on it infinitely, creating variations is trivial and manufacturing a bunch of whatever you made at whatever scale you need just requires a 3d printer. You also get much better results at low skill levels.
>>98604202How much do the skills transfer, would you say? I imagine of course the technical approach is a lot different but probably some general principles stay the same
>>98603959>do you guys prefer having all of your models be one cohesive color scheme, or do you vary things up between units and models?I think it heavily depends on the army.>Are they an organized military or a random horde?>Do they travel/loot a lot or do they sit in 1 place and have limited resources?>Can they biologically differ in skin tones/furr/other markings or are they basically all the same?
>>98603959I tend to like some cohesion, only army I don't have explicitly as such is my gargs where I tried making each one completely different. Otherwise only time I go out and do weird shit is Warcry or Underworlds warbands I typically try out new scheme ideas.
>>98604252Organised armies would still have unique regimentary colours anyway. AoS isn't 1:1 it's abstracted warfar so it makes sense for armies to be varied as they were before the Napoleonic wars
>>98604274oh i didn't even think of that in terms of warcry/underworlds, i do have a warband for UW so i might experiment with them at some pointand yeah gargants make sense, they're practically made for unique looks and designs, and i tend to see people go hardest with SoB models, especially bases.
>>98604296Organized military would still have consistancy within a unit and have different uniforms between combat roles. Steelhelm and Fusilier might be colour coded, but they wouldn't have each Helm have his own colours.Unless your guys are specifically some kind of last stand of several shattered armies forming 1, but that's more of an exception than the rule
>>98604212You can basically do anything digitally that you can do physically, I was able to make more or less exactly the things i had made by hand using the more or less the same process digitally. However some of the most powerful sculpting tools are the ones that least resemble reality, like masks. I don't think if you have a lot of experience sculpting by hand you would have problems learning digital beyond software interface shit.I mostly make small scale hard surface models now (tanks for battletech) and even attempting that by hand would be a waste of time and effort and would require me to figure out a way to make multiples of them, so I don't really do sculpting anymore.
>>98604335No, it would be like pre-napoleonic warfare. One dude brings his men - one commander his Free Guild. A battle would consist of up to dozens of these on top of mercenaries. Every city has dozens of Free Guilds. AoS is not a napoleonic setting. You field 50 men but that's not warfare. AoS abstracts the actual thousands of men that would fight into <100 models. Read about any real battle. They aren't just one generals men.
>>98604383Sure we can pretand every Helm in a unit represents 50 guys, but that would still make them look weird if every 1 of the 10 was different. At least have 1 command squad + 7 guys be coherent and paint another 10 different colours
>>98604324I should get a group shot of my underworlds warbands one of these days considering how far out of my way I went to collect all the fucking things.
>>98604452Yeah, I would diversify them by regiment or something. Not necessarily all unique but if you want to paint some stuff differently just throw them in a regiment to themselves and it would look fitting.
>>98603903beeople
>>98604466please do! i love seeing people's models and stuff(i really hope GW doesn't nuke underworlds anytime soon, it's a fun time with friends)
>>98604500
>>98604524>i really hope GW doesn't nuke underworlds anytime soonI'm still convinced underworlds is gradually being sundowned but that's fine because 2e has been all around pretty shite. Still gonna nab the models when I can since they're neat and fun to hobby on.
>>98604534Just rush 3e with the grand return of real cards. Fix the issue you made yourself.
>>98604335I think for CoS specifically the most lore-friendly way to do things would probably be to give each unit or couple of units their own scheme, since as mentioned by another anon each city has multiple freeguilds working for it. Lethis is the notable exception, with them having a singular massive freeguild in the blackshore guard. We can assume that each freeguild would provide their members with the appropriate uniforms etc.Though you could make everything work lorewise. Want to paint every single fucking steelhelm different? Your forces are the shattered remnants of a larger army. Want the whole army to be the same scheme? It's the entire guild come out to fight. Etc.
>>98604551I got all my 1E shit and borderline every single warband, most of the weird extra decks they put out for 1e (those went clearance turbo fast at my FLGS so I snagged em up cheap) If underworlds dies out in 2e, I can say I more than enjoyed my time with 1e and continue playing that.
>>98604611i never played first edition of underworlds, what did they change in 2nd that made it worse?
>>986046991e had open deck construction, 2e was present decks
How frequently are WH+s competitions and what kind of stuff do they have as prizes?
>>98604699>>98604738Card art getting replaced by photography is also a pretty big deal. Just feels a bit cheap, especially considering the price of these boxes
>>98604699Other than the exterior shit like getting rid of art and replacing it with pictures of the minis (literal photography), shit getting more expensive, everything being made more dull to look at.I'm not the biggest fan of dropping rivals decks for warbands to just generic decks for everyone. I realize deck building as a whole kept getting watered down but the rivals system I think was perfectly fine, your dudes come with a deck and you could buy generic decks seperately. I feel like removing that aspect alongside casting rolls (having to plan out using wizards and spells properly was neat) On top of that MY BIGGEST GRIPE is that they specifically went out of their way to "rebalance" and "rework" everything and yet warbands like say Morgwaeths Blade Coven or Ironjawz Boyz or Eyes of the fucking Nine who were notoriously fucking shit in 1e get brought back and reworked to still be notoriously shit. Like imagine having the chance for a fresh run through of everything and you still have the worst of the worst remain as such.ALSO ALSO, this was also a bit of a problem later on in 1e but the whole removal of the necroquake and the cataphran curse causing the warbands to forever be resurrected and fight one another is gone so I have no fucking clue what the purpose of calling it "underworlds" even is anymore.
>>98604762>shit getting more expensiveThis is the worst part. Back in Nightvault you could get a warband + 60 cards for around £20. Now you pay like £30 for only a warband.

Good news anon. GW has decided to take a chance on your favourite (sub)faction, and will give them a proper range expansion in 5th.However, to make room for this expansion they will unfortunately need to squat one unit of your army. Which one do you pick, and why? Foot heroes don't count.

Then there's a rotating cast of 4 extra minis per system. These will get changed every few months from what I understand.
