Realistically, I die within a day or two. Your average fa/tg/guy isn't going to have useful skills to survive in a galaxy far far away.
If I'm lucky, I can manage to get training up to the standards of a normal citizen before planning my early retirement.
If I'm ridiculously lucky, I manage to get a ship, and either learn how to do everything on the ship or have a droid crew to do it all for me. Then I do my best to find a way to Mustafar and hope that I don't get killed (Vader, criminal organisations, lava, or any of the fucked up monsters living there) before finding HK-47 (the only reason he became a massive threat in Galaxies is because the PCs that found the ship his consciousness was uploaded into had no idea who HK was and followed his instructions without thinking) and getting his loyalty.
After that, we build up enough of a nest egg from hunting down slavers and other scum to retire on Kashyyyk (where I then give HK all the info I have on the future, so when I die he can cause as much chaos as possible)

The set dressing and production is exactly what I want in my Star Wars. My actual gripe with Acolyte is how fucking stupid the characters are. While I have not played KOTOR 2, I have seen enough to wonder if this take isn't just as wrong as saying Kreia is a good guy. Kreia's a bad guy, she's pretty honest about that when you get to the end. But her criticism of the Jedi in that game seem to be sincere and accurate, as to the Jedi as depicted. I'm not sure if this was ever covered in the EU or Canon, but I imagine as the council was investigating Qui-Gon's death and the "Sith", they eventually discovered and watched the security cam footage of the fight on Naboo. It probably chilled them to the bone. If they had taken Qui-Gon seriously, Yoda and Mace could've showed up with them to deal with the threat themselves. Instead they considered Maul "Qui-Gon's attacker" and say they'll use all for their resources to find him, but don't send extra Jedi to Naboo in case he shows up again? The council as a whole effectively doomed Anakin's, and the Galaxy's, future by losing Qui-Gon.

I thank Lucas for these wide shots of the fight, these ones specifically make me feel like I'm watching it from a security camera after the fact.

Shit, Qui-Gon himself didn't think there was anything overly weird going on about the mission most of the time. When Obi-wan warns him he senses a distant, elusive presence, Qui-Gon even tells him off for being distractable and to keep his focus. Obi-Wan was literally sensing the hand of the Sith from day one, and his own master says to stop daydreaming.

They realize it right before they go back to Naboo. Ki-Adi thinks the Queen going back to Naboo will draw out (Maul), and Mace sends Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan back with the Queen to make sure (Maul) is stopped. But if they already know if the Rule of Two, they should've sent at least 2 more Jedi to deal with potentially 2 Sith Lords.

But it narrows his focus, makes him unable to see the big picture, never looking before he leaps but trusting the Force always in the moment. Kenobi is more distant, more detached. He isn't living in the moment, but is considering the larger view and larger effects. His failing is that he becomes detached from the individuals ("why do I sense that we've picked up another primitive life form?"), but he is able to see, or sense, what Jinn cannot: Sheev is making the opening move.

Both have their merits. Ideally both would work in concert to cover each other's blind spots.

Actually, Obi-Wan detects something off about Palpatine several times throughout comics and novels, beyond the movies alone. He never fully trusts him, and can't explain why even to himself, just that he has a bad feeling about it. During one assassination plot he's bodyguarding the Chancellor for, he grabs Palpatine to shove him out of the way when Palpatine isn't expecting it and momentarily feels like Palpatine is an "ocean of black glass slick with oil" in the Force or something to that effect. But, Palpatine masks himself again quickly enough that Obi-Wan dismisses the feeling, though never enough to trust Palpatine.

Yup. I mean, it's got a better average story quality than Star Wars usually has. The Nomi Sunrider comics are pretty good, the first game is a great recreation of the Star Wars mythos, the second game is a great deconstruction of the Star Wars Mythos, Old Republic Online is pretty fun (I personally prefer Star Trek Online for my Sci-Fi MMO needs)

If nothing else, watch the Old Republic Online cinematic trailers, because they are, without a doubt, some of the best Star Wars of the past 15 years.

Not him but I played KOTOR and dropped it because I didn't like it and kept running into bugs.
I admit I liked the music and a couple designs and characters, but didn't like most of them, the setting, or world building and thought Carth was an annoying bitch. Also 2 fucking sand planets? Really? Real great variety. I dropped it before finishing one of the sand planets after I did the other one all the way because of my problems with the game, one of which contains a spoiler.

My brother obsesses over it and SWTOR and still wants me to beat it but I probably never will

I got spoiled on the story for both games anyway and I don't like them because it makes Star Wars even more grimdark than 40k

I know that I never beat that game too since I despise CRPGs. Yes, all CRPGs. With how buggy it was and how monotonous the gameplay was, I don't have any intention to go back to KOTOR any time soon, if at all.

Even more than that, her philosophy might not be something even she believes in. The only time she calls you her true student is when you defy her every expectation and play lightside to the hilt and balls. Only then are you her greatest pupil, one who listened, but challenged even her position and chose instead to do good, for its own sake rather than because you were told to by your master.
KOTOR 2 is, at its heart, not a hateful subversion of Star Wars, but something made by someone who truly has an affection for it and is willing to discuss its flaws, but in the end doesn't undercut the heart of it.
