My army is usually deployed an a small dining table with a green blanket thrown over it and scattered with L shaped bits of card and giant circles we are supposed to be fighting over, for reasons unknown. They quite like the opposition, recognising them to be overpriced bits of fiddly plastic like themselves.Their conditions are quite good, kept in a safe, sturdy plastic crate in my cellar until used a couple of times each year.
Is there anything in the lore about what would happen if a woman with the Pariah gene got pregnant?

You mostly need to redo the stat blocks, but IM is surprisingly compatible with DH2. Before I get on with things, piece by piece, does anyone know of any similar conversion efforts?
>>98630347The only ones I know are the ones to bring DH1 and RT to DH2 standards
>>98630347If fully converted do you think IM can get the characters in the same power level as an ascension DH2 character or is that more of Wrath and Glory territory

>>98607126I enjoy the write-up. If you plan more, I'd like to ask you to mention the characters' careers the first time you mention them.
>>98632189This is part 6-8 of writing it up, I did mention the careers initially I believe but here's the qrd:>Started as a run of Edge of Darkness as a first time GM. Now trending into mixing official modules with my own writing. The 'name' is a working one.>Durrana, "Son of Durrand", a feudal world noble duelist, snatched by the inquisition from a political marriage to a rogue trader's security chief when the trader's assets were seized upon discovery of the trader dealing in heretical artefacts. Cleric career.>Sir Morven Elard, raised on a knight world as a bondsman and former armiger pilot before an incident where he was the only survivor of a battle, his failure to protect his knight resulted in an execution that was only stayed by authority of one of the inquisitor's agents to abduct Morven for infiltrating a high society party. Guardsman career with an insistence on never using a gun if he can help it.>Hastus, guardsman with veterancy from the tranch wars at only 19 years old, a crack shot and overall badass who's main claim to fame is a near max ballistic skill of currently 52 after three improvements and his skill with a lasgun. Eventually plans to try to get into plasma or other stronger weapons but is making do with what he can. >Kestian-01, tech priest whose backstory consists of partaking in the Malgrisian tech heresy, the main medicae officer of the cadre, and number one proponent of servitorization to make more effective soldiers. Specifically has his eyes on Hastus due to the guardsman's skill with a gun. Tech priest (obviously) who wants "as many mechadendrites as I can physically get)>Novus Oarke, schola raised guardsman "junior officer" who's far more standard than the other acolytes. Sword and pistol style of combat with a monosword and assault laspistol. Has a few flunkies to let the player use the minions rules to play the officer/sergeant fantasy using Command. His goons are a 'standard' guardswoman and a penal legionaire.
>>98632189>>98632762>Sister Venria Calliaxa, sister of the Order Minoris of the Bloody Tear, an order founded in following of a saint that was a death cultist, who perform lots of death cult like action such as ritual scarification and personalized combat blades they use for such rituals. Uses the Battle Sister career and is a complete monster in combat as a result of her power armor and bolter, which has been a bit of a balancing act but the player is so excited to get to play a character based on their order and paint scheme for their army that it's still rewarding.>Emilia, the newest player and a psyker who's half a discount darktide Seer and half just resentful of how people hate psykers so she hates people in return. Vocalized an intent to focus on divination and supportive powers, but also ended up being the only two phenomena/perils incidents so far so we'll see how long it lasts before execution by friendly fire. Imperial Psyker obviously.Other characters that were retired or swapped out:>Alicent, mind cleansed blank inserted into the life of a cleric as an irony due to former cult connections to heretics. Cleric career and used a mono-greatsword, with intention of eventually trying for an eviscerator. Swapped out for Durrana.>Gallus, on the sidelines as a result of not wanting to offend the nobility at the party they're infiltrating, as he's a Voidborn psyker. Despite playing his character for six times as long as Emilia, never had a phenomena incident. Swapped for Morven.>Prometheus Rhesus, feral world guardsman who was a genius on his planet and a retard on others, scared of orange and could do a halfway decent job of fighting otherwise. Retired in favor of Novus when the player had a better idea of what he wanted to do.>Litilus Avataste, Arbitrator and first casualty who died to damage from a failed medicae check trying to treat post-combat blood loss. Replaced by Venria who's more effective in every way except talking or charisma.
only war battle reportthe Guys had to defend their glass tower they just took against an ork counterattacki gave the medic access to two heavy stubber turrets. he did decently with them and got to have some fun he probably wouldn't have had otherwise. no crits vs any vehicles though, despite firing a shitload of bulletsi gave the commander (formerly a sergeant) access to another whole squad of guys. he seemed to enjoy getting to use another group of guys. the way i did it was sort of like the formation rules, where the commander (him) guides them to do attacks, movement, and a special weapon attack.our psyker decided to Push every single time he was attacking a vehicle or big guy, which resulted in some corruption points and breaking all the glass in the giant glass building but nothing too badour heavy gunner blew up every fucking vehicle nearly the moment it appeared. do NOT give your players access to autocannons if you like having things survive. this is my tip for any gm'sand finally the ogyrn cracked some skulls and blew some orks apart with his own autocannonduring the fight the orks attempted to land orks on the roof of the building with their deffkoptas but they all got shot down. multiple trucks were blown up and used as cover, and then the orks were blown up with grenades that were very good at hitting. i sent a not-hind D at them and when it appeared it blew up the ogryn's position but he dodged out of the way, resulting in the loss of just an autocannon. out of the wreckage of the hind D (which survived 0 rounds after it appeared) a big mek and a couple goons survived and crawled out. the mek missed all his attacks but his force field was super difficult to take out and only fell because when the psyker pushed he caused all unshielded electronics to short, turning the field off
>>98633012unfortunately, we only have 2 more sessions left before i got Job stuff to handle and I don't know when I'll be done. i think the finale will involve the warboss, probably them killing him. i think it's fitting plus it will allow me to take the regiment to a more active, more exciting battlefield. maybe severan dominate fighting, although I will have to make so many more new assets for it.we'll see.
Did the Eldar know that The Emperor was building into the Webway? Were there "Men at Work" signs or whatever?
>>98633927The Harlequins were probably aware (they end up telling Eldrad about the Emperor about to turn into the Dark King, which shows they know what's been going on in Terra) but I think the Craftworlds and Dark Eldar probably didn't realize, since the only location the Emperor reached was a dead city abandoned millions of years ago due to a psychic wasp infestation. I've had to make all sorts of new sector map symbols for my maps. It's suffering when you have 30x30 pixels to work with and you're too retarded for anything but paint. Can psykers do the "Jedi mind trick?" I want to have force a fellow player (human guardsmen) to confess their love to a Eldar.
>>98631488Yeah, I thought that might be it. Hard way it is - separating skills, reverse engineering the rule changes. At least most weapons seem to do about two thirds of the normal damage so that's easy enough.>>98633937>Before they were able to scout any deeper, Magnus Did Nothing Wrong™ and destroyed the webway projectLiterally nothing wrong. I always wondered that if the emperor won, what'd the look be like on the kid's faces when he came to cull them from the species. In Rogue Trader, what happens if your profit factor goes negative? It's not something the book ever expects to happen, but it's not impossible.
>>98638503No specific rulings. At that point not only are you flat broke and scrabbling for credits to buy a lasgun, House Krin debt collectors are following you and you'd probably want to deduct achievement points in their endeavours every time they got some to represent the debt payments. Then knock off 1PF from every gain they make anyway. You could just generate a minor misfortune every 'turn' but the net PF loss is probably going to make things much worse, much faster. You could also remove PF generating assets from them (like that one promethium mining station in.. one early adventure, with the crystal murder beacon thing and the imperial frigate, I forget the name, yu'vath or whatever) if they didn't generate some net PF every 'turn', ie, actually succeed on an endeavour or make genuine progress instead of screwing it up. Then give them a bit of extra PF to represent its liquidation to knock it back in black - or at least, back toward black. On an unrelated note, checking the complications rules reminded me that tau guns are so much better than imperial plasma even ignoring the overheating issue. A tau pulse pistol is better than anything that isn't a space marine bolt rifle. Reee.
>>98638814The ones in the Tau Character Guide are more reasonable than what's in Deathwatch, they purposely juiced them up to make them a threat to marines. Yes, it was stupid. The Overcharge mechanic is also fucking moronic, no precedent in lore or tabletop gives tau any similar ability, it's just there to steal thunder from plasma. The entire point of ion weaponry is that it's supposed to be down-tuned and stabilized plasma, while imperial designs are overpowered and volatile.
Hello, how's wrath and glory? Been looking at potentially running a 40k RPG once I'm done with my current campaign
>>98639184>The ones in the Tau Character Guide are more reasonable than what's in Deathwatch, they purposely juiced them up to make them a threat to marines. Yes, it was stupid. The entire point of Tau guns since the day the army got its first codex is that they are an actual threat to marines, so even though fire warriors themselves aren't that scary, marines still have to respect their gunlines. It's not stupid, it's the design point of the faction.
>>98639351TCG guns were already 2d10+3 pen 4. Assume you strike the torso of a marine, AP10 goes to 6. Average damage (5.5*2)+3 for 14, reduce by armor for 8, reduce by toughness including unnat for 0. Tau pulse rifles as of TCG will deal damage to a marine very slightly less than half the time, and their potential maximum damage to said marine is 9.Deathwatch pulse weapons were boosted to 2d10+9. They do not need that much fucking juice.
>>98639372>Deathwatch pulse weapons were boosted to 2d10+9Anon are you retarded? That's not a pulse weapon! That's a battlesuit plasma gun! and yes, those could oneshot marines, they were strength 6 ap2 on tabletop!
>>98639184I was looking at the stuff in RT and DH2 rather than the Character Guide ones - 2d10+3e is a little bit mad for something with that range and magazine profile. Eldar Shuriken weapons are perhaps a little underpowered but they're not as far in the opposite direction as pulse stuff.
>>98639342Not great. It tries to meld half a dozen power levels and ideas and does none of them well. Try FFG, or liber imperium or something. If you're *very* anti ffg you can try imperium maledictum, it's just whfb rpg with the serial numbers filed off and a really dumb psyker system, but I've had this argument a million times before and I don't really want to repeat myself so I'll encourage you to find out how bad it is yourself.
>>98639184>OverchargeHow is it moronic? Ion weapons could overcharge since their inception. Ion weapons didn't even exist until 6e, and the dying days of FFG.>Supposed to be down-tuned and stabilized plasmaYou're thinking of PULSE and PLASMA weaponry.>>98639372>Deathwatch pulse weapons No, this was a Plasma Rifle, a T'au battlesuit weapon. And yes, the "juice" it had was just fine - it was a S6 AP2 weapon at the time. You know what else has S6? Multilaser. You know what multilaser does? 2d10+10.>>98639471>A little madIt was a S5 AP5 weapon with 30" range. Compared to (at the time) a S4 AP5 weapon, the numbers matched up - 1d10+9 (average 13.5 max 19) vs 2d10+3 (average 14 max 23). This is actually more fair to the Bolter, and retards, especially guardfags, complained hard about T'au guns as well.
>>98639379Failed my perception test. 1d10+12, then, which when compared to the previous of 2d10+3 is essentially rolling a 9 every time on one of those dice. Versus a marine, the math is now AP10 - 4 for 6, average damage 17.5, down to 11.5, down to 3.5 wounds per shot.Doing the math properly with actual statistics, TCG version deals 1.65 damage per shot. DWE version being one die is far simpler and maths out to 1d10-2, for 3.6 a pop, more than double. If they had treated them the same as they did bolters in the errata, one die should convert to +4 damage for 1d10+7 pen 4, which is still very spooky as a mainline infantry weapon - essentially an inverted hellgun damage profile. If they wanted the same statistics versus a marine they could make it 1d10+9 pen 4, trading damage and pen until it feels fair. This is a bolter statblock minus the Tearing (and damage type) but is statistically sound. All of this of course does not detract from the fact that the Overcharge mechanic is straight up stealing the main selling point of imperial plasma and outdoing it for zero reason.
Thank you anons for helping meUpdate my gold formula. This is way better
>>986395831d10+9 (avg 13.5) vs errata'd 1d10+12 (avg 17.5) is perfectly fine for a S4 vs a S5 weapon shift.

>>98639342My group loves it. I prefer running it over FFG. /40krpg/ tends to shit on it and loves FFG but I'm beginning to suspect that most of the real opinionated anons have never played either of them. It plays smoother than FFG and the combat is waaaaaaaaaaaay quicker, but it's not without its problems, the main one being some balance issues. Some of the talents are under/overcosted, as are some of the weapons. In the game's defense, pretty much every game has balancing issues somewhere, particularly after the 2nd or 3rd splat book drops. This kind of shit is easy to houserule so I'm not too bothered by it. Probably my biggest complaint is the lack of published material and Cubicle 7's glacial release schedule, but it's a simple enough thing to ransack FFG's back catalog for material. One major difference between WAG and FFG is thematic - WAG is meant to be more cinematic, and FFG tends to be grittier. It's actually a silly thing to complain about though, as anyone running even a single session of WAG will quickly spot how to make it way grimmer and darker very easily.>this is probably the first time that you've seen someone mention thematic differences between ffg and wag in this general>ask yourself why that is
>>98639342Unlike the retarded shill above who sees no flaws in W&G except the balance (lol), those of us who have actually played W&G and the FFG lines can explain it quite simply. >W&G is fucking bland. It's like someone made DnD 5e for 40k. It's a heroic power fantasy that only pays lip service to the actual themes of 40k. Houseruling should not be necessary for the game to feel actually dark and gloomy. To expand on what I mean a bit, W&G is severely lacking in flavorful rules. It abstracts the mechanics to a degree that borders on a narrative RPG at times, which is extremely frustrating when you want to immerse your players into the actual setting and make them feel like living parts of it. The bespoke setting of W&G is fine from a worldbuilding perspective, albeit nothing special. Compared to the richly painted worlds and lore of DH1 and RT, W&G is relatively uncreative and lacks strong original ideas (it favors more generic, easily digested concepts). One particular problem it suffers from is kitchen sink syndrome. This one singular system has literally everything in it except Custodes. It becomes increasingly ridiculous the more splatbooks you read.
>>98644801>W&G is relatively uncreative and lacks strong original ideas (it favors more generic, easily digested concepts)Part of that is how hard GW has shit on a leash since the FFG games released.

A Tithe Paid in Blood IIISetting up right in the aftermath of them starting to explore the Duke's safe room, they crack the lock-box of ledgers related to his stimms use. Deciding not to open up his trophy box any more and risk more insanity, they instead pack up the ledgers as well as recording crystals from a vox-recorder in the corner and some of the picts of the man's kills as evidence. Finding a hidden door leading to a "cellar" underneath this fucked up garden, they find cages along one of the walls as well as a starved, emaciated mutant inside one of the cages as well as restraint gear, but also a locked dead-drop type box set into the wall. A spent hotshot charge was set on top of it, hollowed out and containing a note pointing suspicion towards the officer Dame Reila that they had dueled before, as well as the key to the lockbox. Inside were a set of ciphered ledgers, giving them another opportunity to try and track down the connections to the stimm smuggling. As they leave, Hastus puts down the mutant, the twisted being whispering a "thank you" as it does. As they return to the garden, Durrana does some investigating in the room they first fought the mutants that the Duke sicced on them, discovering that it used to be a familial crypt of some type, belonging to a family that they later investigate to find it used to belong to a Noble family named as Corscolla, zealous ministorum tied family that spent more time crusading against the planet's local beastman population and other planets' issues of abhumans and mutants. A dead family given the last heir reportedly died as part of the guard in a warzone part of the Spinward Front. Of course this leads the acolytes specifically starting to speculate on why and how he might be connected. In the garden itself, a new body of a servant of some kind greets them, having been left at the statue with a throat slashed and fingers pointing toward one of the grottos.
>>98645223As they give the grotto a look around, they find that it's the same one with the Sororitas statue from before, and as they give another look they discover a plaque on the bottom, dedicating it to: "Sister Cassia Voss, who gave everything, and was given nothing in return." A quick check of Lore (Ecclisarchy) from Venria has her noticing that Sister Voss was from the same Order as she was, featuring the same ritual scarrification and Venria remembering that she had a ceremonial urn for memorial back on the order's homeworld. More checks to remember reveal that the sister had reportedly died in battle, sacrificing herself to bring down a hab-block around a cult base while covering the retreat of the faithful citizens. As such questions start rising about why she has a statue here, and that only doubles as the psyker approaches and their Psyniscience instead has them seeing the same statue but seen in color rather than grey-white marble, lifelike features and the sound of a resonance within their skull, while their psi-vision shows cracks formed along the statue-sister's arm. They pass a fear test against Weird Shit and inform the others, voting that they leave, and while Morven ends up spying a figure watching the group from one of the neighboring hive spires, no sign of their rifle. The figure only gives a nod of some type, but they still rush back to the original mansion. Right as they get back into the manor, they give a report to the navy officer who was organizing the investigations around. Commodore Elan greets them and acknowledges the Duke's death, talking to nobles around them about how there's no need to worry from what was clearly an incident of madness born of corruption of the soul and his own issues. Before people can get to more discussing, the sound of a gunshot sounds from the room the colonel they were watching is heard. Rushing in they find the officer standing over a dead servant's body, explaining that the man had tried to attack him.
>>98645226Given their existing relationship with the lord colonel, they explain more about what they're hunting down and what they did, while he offers his thoughts and tries to fill in the blanks. Their discussion continues enough that the party splits off and go around following some other leads, Durrana barging into Dame Reila's room to discover the officer giving her evening prayers while crying quietly. They have a conversation about why Reila is there at all and discover that she had a long history of "over-zeal" beating members of her unit for performing lax in their duties, as is expected of the Scintillan fusiliers, but enough and frequent enough that at least a few people died as a result, not intentionally but just from a lack of available medicae. Given that she was one of the better duelists in her regiment and noble born enough to avoid being fragged, she was instead eventually sent home due to "cohesion issues with her unit" on a 'temporary leave'. With seemingly no leads, the acolytes work at discussing their next moves when they manage to overhear Reila's aide Vail quietly laying into her and effectively abandoning her before trying to slip into the crowd. Hastus is the one to notice that he's trying to slip away and moves to chase, followed by the rest of the acolytes. A short pursuit follows before Sister Venria basically tackles him into the statue sat in the garden's center, but Vail surrenders to capture quickly, outright stating that he submits to interrogation. On his person, they find a dataslate that received a message right before his capture. From an unknown sender: "Do you know what disgusted me about that duel tonight? Not that the Duke lost — losing can be beautiful, if it's done honestly. It was that he never once, in his whole clumsy little performance, showed me a single moment worth remembering. Some men aren't fit to die interestingly. That's the real tragedy of this profession."
>>98645227The session ends right afterward due to it being almost 5am brit time, the acolytes discussing their plans. Hastus decides "fuck going medic, I'm just going sharpshooter" and makes his mind up to get a long-las next chance he gets. Durrana is planning to pursue a "great-irontalon" by combining a great weapon with another gun of some kind, basically making a gunblade and we're working it out. Spends XP on a contact to work on something like that.Morven remains the knightly chad he is working on and pumps weapon skill with the goal of eventually getting a good chain/power sword.Kestian unfortunately needs to leave due to his player being in their senior year and the evenings not being free enough to be able to play. His character is saved and he's given an open invitation back.Novus just works on saving to boost his stats.Venria spends an hour debating faith talents with themselves.Emelia takes Jaded to not be traumatized in the future.
>>98644801>muh bland systemAnon, over the last 40 years or so of running games, I've had players complain to me about everything from unrealistic goblins to my "no stupidly large and heavy dice bouncing off my fucking table" rule, but I've never had one talk to me about bland games. This sounds like a skill issue, not a game issue, and that's something that you need to discuss with your GM.>This one singular system has literally everything in it except Custodes. You do understand that you can set your game in whatever setting that you want, right? Can you imagine what an apple looks like? If you hadn't eaten breakfast this morning, how would you feel? Am I even talking to a human? Should I begin these discussions with a Turing test? But your comment about Gideon being the kitchen sink system is accurate. There's a lot of stuff in that sandbox and they don't tell you why most of it is there. That's a feature, not a bug. They're giving you room to figure out why all of that is there, and how it works together. That's actually why I run my campaign in Gideon - I'm fine with some light worldbuilding, but I don't want to start something from scratch, but I also don't want to rework someone else's fully fleshed out magical realm. This is something that used to be par for the course in settings a decade or two ago. An imaginative GM would work those details out for himself and the game would happen around that. NPCs and retards will instead complain about why they're not being told exactly how to run their games, because they're not used to figuring things out on their own. I suppose that this is /tg/ in 2026. I accept it, but I'm not happy about it. I remember a time when people were still able to think. It wasn't all that long ago. Maybe RPGs aren't your thing. Maybe TikTok is more your speed.>and if gideon did have custodes I'd disallow them, because while I can make everything else make sense, custodes outside of terra have never made sense
I know that not all Space Marines are Codex compliant but are there any that ignore the Tech Priest taboo against experimenting on and trying to improve technology?
>>98645270Firstly, the cogboys do in fact innovate, they just regulate the everliving FUCK out of it, because innovation is truly, genuinely dangerous in 40k. If you're not careful you could rip open a warp rift, accidentally or purposefully embed the star of chaos into blueprints for a microprocessor or the superstructure of a starship, or pass on a cognitovirus from a long-dead race that then infects your entire forgeworld and from there the sector.Secondly, techmarines are known tinkerers, but due to heavy indoctrination they mostly focus on squeezing every ounce of performance out of a given design or mastercrafting shit for their chapter's hero units, when their duties don't have them maintaining the entire chapter's wargear and fleets, that is. Space Marines don't get days off.
>>98639342Very beer and pretzels game, good if your players that have lots going on in their life.My GM and two players have kids and they are both physically and mentally drained, but can still play with no problems.I do have to admit it lacks flavour and depth in some areas, like no mention or trait for psychic blanks (We homebrew one in).
>>98645270No one but the tech priests has the technical grounding to even understand the technology they have, never mind improve on it. Besides which marines have other shit to do. And I can't imagine marine brainwashing would make them more inclined to speculative bluesky research.

>>98645400That depends on the version but for the longest time innovating on shit was heretical but since no one could agree in regards to what degree you could fuck with any STC device to create a new pattern the concept fell by the wayside around 8e.It's just the usual problem of 40k being inconsistent as shit with a lot of important points.
>>98646053>being heretical means it doesn't happenI have an STC fragment to sell you.
If the AdMech have psy-servitors that can send and receive messages across light-years, why does the Imperium not use these instead of astropaths? Is there some kind of fault that psy-servitors have?
>>98646087It's almost as if the whole thing doesn't really make sense when you think about it for more than 5 fucking seconds. ಠ_ಠ>>98646134Odds are that's mainly the AdMech hoarding them to retain their independence on top of whatever influence the Astropaths can spare to suppress them.
>>98645270There are plenty of people who experiment with technology. There's very few of them that get anything worthwhile out of it. At Best you get a "best craftsmanship" item and at worse you get executed.New items are rare as shit because the knowledge required to create anything is concentrated with the religious nut jobs who refuse to do shit most of the time even if they are perfectly capable of doing it like how one tech priest was capable of making a whole cybernetic body for a Chaos holocron exby to control.
>>98646173It makes entirely adequate sense. Sometimes people break rules. Sometimes they will break rules and pretend they didn't.
>>98639379It's weird how you can kill a marine with a snub nose revolver in the war game.Shame it's such a main in the ass to translate things between games the weapon lore is always neat.
>>98646173Thinking about it, psy-servitors are probably open to all kinds of corruption, especially when set to just broadcasting and receiving to messages from the void. There must be all kinds of useless ramblings in the AdMech's Temple of All-Knowledge.

How can Astropaths convey tactically relevant information if their method of communicating is horoscope-like nonsense?
>>98648229It's an autistically complex, heavily codified cypher system (or rather multiple systems) based on horoscope-like nonsense. The vibe and emotion based imagery is only like the top-most layer of the message, what's underneath can usually (but not always) be fairly consistently decyphered with the right training, especially if the sender had time to structure and send it properly. There's a reason why astropath characters start the game with Cryptology skill in Rogue Trader
>>98648314Is planet to planet communication available to everyone or only military/government/rich people?
>>98648360What did you expect? BUMBS being able to do shit?
>>98648416How DOES your average person communicate across worlds then?
>>98648431They don't. Anyone below the rank of Colonel isn't important enough to do shit like that.
>>98648193That is a VERY specific type of nanite...
>>98648431Why would they ever need to? Anyone who genuinely has a need to send or receive such a message either has the means to or is a part of an organisation that does and can do it via someone higher up the chainThe interests of vast majority of people are limited purely to their local planet or local star system at most, that's where all of their work, family and relatives are
>>98648360Think of it like the 1800s only important people get fast, long range communication. The local peasants probably know no one off planet so they will use radio or similar to communicate on planet. The fucking postal system probably exists on feudal worlds.
Are Knight worlds exempted from the typical bodies of Imperial governance? Are they tithed by the Admin and policed by the Arbites? Or is all of that ignored since they are under the control of the Mechanicus?
>>98651177The ones that are under the control of the mechanicus undergo mechanicus administration, usually at a level high enough that the people on world see little change. The ones under Imperial control have those agencies.
>>98651177Knight Worlds aren't tithed (their Knight houses count as their tithe), but they do still submit to Mechanicus law or the Lex Imperialis as appropriate. Arbites don't usually get stationed there however as Knight households generally police themselves by nature

Are space marines trained in diplomacy? They have to go to so many worlds I'm curious if they have any training in working with different cultures.
>>98660837As a rule, no. All that combat training, implants and equipment are desperately needed in combat somewhere, there are others who can handle the talking.
>>98660837Some Astartes are decent at it, but it's rather due to experience gained from being higher in the chapter's hierarchy and having to deal with Imperium's politics regularly rather than due to any formal training. Either that or just being naturally gifted towards it
>>98660837Helsreach shows off the kind of diplomacy you could expect from a marine. They are actually skilled at it, but it mostly comes to a show of force and promise of violence to get what they want. They'd have no interest in the slow process of wining and dining a governor or other Imperial power.
>>98660837I'm sure some of them have a good grasp on diplomacy given chaplains and leadership roles are a thing.
>>98660715Thank you.
So I'm a little unclear on the lore regarding the Custodes. Prior to M42 and Guilliman's return and the advancing of the plot, they were in retroactive continuity now said to have already been out and about in the galaxy, correct? Like them leaving Terra isn't supposed to be an in-lore new development? So if I ran a campaign set in M41 it wouldn't break verisimilitude or ~canon~ to have a Eye of the Emperor instead of an Inquisitor as an NPC, or having one or more Shadowkeepers showing up trying to retrieve an object that Warp-fuckery'd itself out of the vaults?
>>98645228I wonder what that shot was really about.
>>98660837Even if they are trained, it is extremely difficult to be an effective negotiator when you have no real world experience engaging in argument and debate with peers. Like outside of the chapter but within the Imperium nearly any entity a Marine interacts with is going to be deferential and obsequies to them, and most xenos are going to be a mutual case of 'on-sight'.I think the only really skilled diplomat marines would be the very old or otherwise high ranking ones who have had cause to interact with inquisitors, lord generals, and other high ranking Imperial people who wouldn't simply be deferential to one of the Emperor's Angels.Like it's part of why dictators as opposed to aristocrats in a time when aristocracy was more common, and super wealthy born-into-wealth capitalists have trouble with people skills. Socialization requires interacting with peers and with people you have to please, and generally speaking marines don't get that - they get interaction with peers in the chapter, sure, but obviously a monastic brotherhood of warrior monks is so idiosyncratic that I doubt most of those sklls would be transferable to non-marines.
>>98663248>Even if they are trained, it is extremely difficult to be an effective negotiator when you have no real world experience engaging in argument and debate with peers. Like outside of the chapter but within the Imperium nearly any entity a Marine interacts with is going to be deferential and obsequies to them, and most xenos are going to be a mutual case of 'on-sight'. I expect a lot of the more talented ones are clever enough to 'wing it' and adapt on the fly around not having the same advantages and social cues they're used to and probably lean into the transhuman dread or other aspects of their marine physiology to help.I remember reading something once that suggested marines came with a certain 'wrapping' around their souls from the geneseed that acted as a warp-protective layer. Didn't stop librarians, though. If that's not schizophrenia on my part, maybe the dread isn't just an atavistic response to the Other that is the marine but a sort of quasi-blank response, further isolating them from man and providing another sense of brotherhood and link to the other marines.

Can anyone give me a good TLDR on Farsight Enclaves culture and philosophy? Surprisingly hard to find details on it. Is it just as simple as "we want self determination, individuality, and democracy instead of this fascist commie gobbledeegook"?
>>98669778An admixture of an emerging culture of idealised historical american western 'self reliance' at the lowest levels wedded to portions of Starship Troopers, both movie and book portions, as well as hints of the early American 'melting pot' ideal without the jewish trickery. The greater good isn't as woven in as it is in the tau empire and we don't know how it's progressing, only that it's still part of the enclaves culture and there seems to be a steady (but low volume) flow of defectors to the worlds.Ironically Farsight himself is more a Cincinnatus than he is a Lieutenant Rico despite his beliefs nominally being more starship troopers.

Hey guys, I've been working on a fairly extensive remake of FFG's Rogue Trader system. I won't bore you with the details, but I just finished up a homebrew mutation table as part of this project, and I figured I might share it as a sort of formatting proof of concept—it's probably a lot more interesting to a reader than endless reams of dry rules text. The rules do make reference to some of the other rules changes I've made (such as Penetration being measured on a scale from 1-100), but most of it should be comprehensible. If anyone feels inclined to take a look, I'd love any feedback, no matter how negative. Feel free to skip past the preamble and go directly to the table, a couple of pages down.https://www.mediafire.com/file/50bpus8sbj4x5de/Corruption_and_Mutation.pdf/file
>>98675795On average, months or years. But possibly decades, centuries, days or hours. Warp travel is indirect, doesn't necessarily correlate linearly with distance in the material universe, and there's funky warp shenanigans with time distortion or simply getting lost. Basically as long as the plot demands
>>98678701What made you want to do this? Like what particularly were you unsatisfied with in the original and what are you most focused on remaking?
>>98678701gonna be real boss I ain't reading shit that needs knowledge of secret hidden rules to make sense of.I do have interest in the reasoning behind your changes to penetration, explain in full including all relevant context.
>>98675795From Rogue Trader (1987)>Under the intuitive guidance of the navigator, a ship is able to traverse distances of tens of thousands of light years in a single jump. Perceived journey time is 1-4 days per thousand light years, equivalent to 1-6 months of real time. Even so, a journey from one edge of the galaxy to the other would take between 85 and 510 months of real time. That said, the real answer is, "whatever the fuck you want: GW is entirely inconsistent with numbers of all kinds, and warp fuckery makes that inconsistency justifiable.
>>98675658>What's HKSD? Worlds held by a t'au / drukhari criminal syndicate in the Solaris Expanse. They're separated into Septs (local capitals and population hubs with full facilities and capabilities) and Shadowports (Economic outposts that focus on racketeering, webway smuggling, arms dealing, slave trading, etc). HKSD itself is an acronym, House of Korst'la Internal Security Directorate.>And machine world.Worlds covered with artificial machinery, cogitator systems, and vast computation engines. Machine Worlds are difficult for organics to live on, but are perfectly suited for the robotic xenos species that reshaped them. Unlike Necron Tomb Worlds, machine worlds are purpose-shaped for specific purposes, such as mathematical calculations, processing of problems, simulations of time, etc. Think of the machine worlds in Stellaris.>>98648524~consume enhance replicate~

>>98675795Here you go friend.
>>98675795>>98680479Also the same article answers the question of how long it would take to travel from one end of the Imperium to the other. The Imperium is about 75,000 light years from end to end, so between 75 to 300 days in warp time, and 6 to 40 years real time.
>>98678820>>98679199>>98680479>>98680496Thanks!

I don't have any expectations of people wanting to use this.>Like what particularly were you unsatisfied with in the original and what are you most focused on remaking? It'd be faster to list the things I wasn't dissatisfied with. From the little things like warp travel time having a linear relation to real time, to the game not even having rules for how scanners work, to silent running being totally pointless, to the big things like everyone running around hip-firing heavy weapons in ways that would take terminator armour on the tabletop, or how the optimal way to play is usually delaying and attacking the enemy on his own turn so he can't dodge or parry. I don't really have a focus, I'm going through every chapter of the book and making changes where I please.>>98678829I'm bringing back the armour save from the old tabletop rules, so armour now works just like force fields, and weapons either penetrate armour or they don't (so that damage is no longer just a better version of armour penetration). I'm planning to make the game look closer to the old tabletop game in general, with independent characters being able to take more hits and have more attacks = more chances to overcome evasion and protection rolls. Anyway, I can't give you all the relevant context, because that would be the entire rules text, which is not even finished.
Finally. It's ridiculous that the game has been out for well over three years and there's been no bestiary.https://cubicle7games.com/en_EU/blog/warhammer-40000-roleplay-imperium-maledictum-macharian-adversary-guide-cover-reveal

Is this a good starter box?
Would the Imperium be better off if it started to use AI again? I want to run a game about a rouge tech priests trying to use AI to navigate the warp without using psykers. Assuming he actually did it, would it make things better or worse?
>>98683991The problem with AI, especially when exposed to the Warp, is that it's susceptible to corruption and even possession. It's essentially close enough to a mind for something to slip on in. Also, the Imperium already does use its cogitators to navigate the Warp, it's just that warpspace is too complex and random for them to do anything besides short jumps using it.
>>98683991Scrapcode in your cogitators and oops, you materialize inside of a gas giant. Or a daemon possesses your ship, which is probably an infinitely worse fate.
>>98684380>>98684487That means the goal of unmanned supply ships aren't going to work then. Damn, that was something I was hoping to homebrew for long or far away deployments.
>>98684380The fact that something is AI doesn't necessarily mean that it is susceptible. Machines for chaos need to be purpose-built for daemons to find them appealing, and an AI with enough focus can undo chaos through pure logic. Scrapcode is a mix of regular old computer viruses and logic traps to degrade that purpose enough to open a way for daemons.
>>98684544Warp jump cogitators do exist in one form or another, usually either from the DAOT or some form of heretical warpcraft or xenotech. They're only good for multiplying the distance achievable by a Calculated Jump by about 5x, but considering this boosts range from approximately four lightyears to twenty, nearly all in-sector trade can be usurped from the Navigator Houses, which they very greatly want to avoid seeing as that's approximately 98% of the market. They'd take a direct corresponding hit to their wealth and influence, which are the only things keeping them from the pogroms. It's literally a matter of life and death for them.Note that this is NOT 'unmanned', it's just 'less mutants'.https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Warp_jump#Calculated_jumps
Have any of you tried the makeup sponge painting technique for your minis? I picked up my first box and wanted them to look good without dropping more money on an airbrush set. Also do you have any tips for paints? are any beginner paint sets ok as long as i mix them to get the colors i want?

>>98684739Wrong general Anon, this one is for RPGsBuuuut>Have any of you tried the makeup sponge painting technique for your minis?Yeah, it works pretty well, my recommendation is to use a rather small and irregular piece of sponge and dark brown paint (I usually use Dryad Bark). Make sure to wipe excess paint on a palette or paper first, so that you only make gentle sparse dots. For best result, do small dots and scratches of light silver paint (for example Ironbreaker) over the brown dots and near the edges and then small splashes of brown wash over that. >wanted them to look good without dropping more money on an airbrush set.I've been painting for over a decade without ever getting one, definitely don't worry about that at the beginning >are any beginner paint sets ok as long as i mix them to get the colours i want?I would just buy the colours you actually need for your army. Mixing is obviously an option, but the amount of different tones you can get is much smaller, it's a bit of a pain in the ass do to constantly and you can get visibly varying results over different minis>Also do you have any tips for paints?Been years since I've painted a space wolf, but I'd say black primer, The Fang for the base of the armour and Fenrisian Grey for the highlights (alternatively Space Wolves blue if you want to use contrasts, personally I don't like them much). Rhinox Hide, Dryad Bark and/or Gorthor Brown for hides, belts, pouches etc. (preferably at least 2 for variety). The hides will look much better with a drybrush of some creme colour, like Karak Stone. Leadbelcher/Ironbreaker and some bronze colour for metals. Rakarth Flesh for fangs, skulls etc. Bugman's Glow base and Kislev Flesh over that for skin (Bloodreaver Flesh instead if you want to paint some black dudes). Appropriate colour over white for pauldrons. Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade for washes. Should be simple, but good looking. I mostly use Citadel, so won't help you with other paint brands.

There would be all manner of mystery meat of humanity beyond the solar system, but if they were without mutation; or unstable mutations, they were counted to humanity. There may be plenty of prejudice and "minor" expression of racism between mankind on local level but it doesn't reach much further than that planet. The only Imperium wide prejudice, other than soul-divergent peoples (psykers, blanks), are toward void-born. From 30K to sometime during the Age of Apostasy, the skull is all of mankind(+abhumans), afterward its the link to the past deeds: martyrdom.Xenos envy the perfection of Mankind and the cranium visage demoralize them.

My players found out about the cut they have to pay to their boss every so often. It was supposed to be an exploitative system. It ended up being fairer than the Imperial Tithe. Even so, they're relative poorfags again, having 2 liquid profit factor and 31 nonliquid profit factor. Send thoughts and prayers their way.
Has anyone made a pdf that takes all of the items, npc stat blocks, and vehicles from Dark Heresy, Only War, Deathwatch, Black Crusade, and Rogue Trader, and put them all together for quick and easy reference? I tried making an ai do it for me but it failed. SOMEONE should really do that and share it with everyone. Someone other than me
>>98690156Kind of. Liber Imperium has it, though it occasionally adjusts the rules to fit. It's still a little rough since it's 400 rulesets jammed into one, and it doesn't feature npc stat blocks for individual systems. The armoury has been out of date for forever. I'm very slowly doing sorcery since I realised the pdf with it is lost forever.
>>98690238>The armoury has been out of date for forever. The armoury has been updated to have all official FFG books for over a decade, do you have an outdated one?
What do Tech Priests wear when they are off duty? What is "fashion" to a group that wants to escape their flesh?
>>98690355>"What is "Off duty"? Do you mean the maintenance period?"
>>98690355I did take a snippet from Combat! S1E12 'The Prisonner' where someone askes to get some Cog-nac, only to learn that it is pronouced cognac. So Tech-Priests and people on Forge Worlds drink the Armasec of the Mechanicus: Cog-Knack the liquid of the Omnissiah
>>98690355What do monks wear when they're off duty? What you're looking at with tech-priests is just what they wear. If you want to see what fashion on forgeworlds kind of looks like, look at the few depictions of princeps and moderati that we've gotten.
>>98685617The skull and crossbones was originally a Christian symbol, that's why pirates chose it to mock God
I feel like having read Dune I get 40k lore a lot more now.
>>98690355Ive always felt like GW shit the bed with Admech because they never really developed other cultural garb or variations. I personally had my admech favor biologis type augments so he looked mostly human, & he had a greco-roman look wearing not much more than a ceremonial looking loincloth & drapery with sacred geometric shapes & symbols all over it, & showing off his body & subdermal circuitry. Now he more or less just wears a form fitting armored body suit that integrates with his heavy armor that he wears on top
>>98692943>they never really developed other cultural garb or variationsThat's a feature, not a bug. Standardizing the look unifies the faction and sets expectations for normalfags.
TICK TOCK SECONDARIESYOU'LL BE REQUIRING MODELS SOON!
Good morning Imperials. Xenos and chaos go fuck yourselves. How are your games coming along? If the gm doesnt fall for sleep deprivation psychosis we'll be tracking down a Heretek Magos and turning him into scrap. We're taking out the Beast House one nigga at a time.
>>98694226Doing Rogue Trader. GM started the Soul Reaver campaign to "get us established" not realizing just how fucking long it would be, we went from level 2 to level 6 over the course of those events. One of our players joined during this period and is having her mind blown now that we're finally out of Alien assrape jail and have thousands of lackeys to order around. We've promised to make our goofy dwarf jester governor of the first planet we colonize since he did so well by us in the Nexus of Shadows, however it seems the first world we're colonizing is a barren sandblasted shithole thats only redeeming quality is its massive promethium deposits. We thought this planet held nothing but ruins but it turns out its full of mad max hobos who turned feral after being abandoned by the imperium and might not be too enthusiastic about becoming our subjects. The comforting hand of the emperor will be back around their throats soon enough.
>>98693083Dont care. Theres still some wiggle room. Hell guardsmen come in a thousand flavors & marines come in a bunch as well

>>98693428Do wonder if this means GW wants to bring all the RPGs back in-house instead of letting C7 do 7 different game lines
>>98694226Stuck on a backwater asteroid colony trying to get a message to our Inquisitor, but we have to play politics with the locals in order to use the phone. Pretty sure theres a chas cult or genestealers but we havent scratched at the scab yet. My admech is mostly scouting using his psyker powers trying to get the lay of the land outside what the locals are letting us see.
>>98694226>How are your games coming along? My team went into a warpstorm, landed at the shattered world at its center that acted as its core, traversed multiple chaotic hellscapes, found some critical information they needed, fought an absolute blast from the past, and survived an Old Slann Juridicial. They're preparing to defend some territory in Commorragh, and then off to do a little cheeky space piracy afterwards.
>>98695970It would make sense from a business perspective, since every shekel is precious to GW. If they can recreate Black Industries that made DH1 and IHB, without dealing with the fees and rights issues that come with C7 or other contractor, then they'll probably do it. It will probably save them a ton in the long run.
>>98693428>He thinks the FFG books will magically disappear from my harddrive and any newfags tourists who get into the necromunda game will be beneficial to the TTRPG scene or even play gamesBest bet, some newfags will be converted to the better systems, otherwise it's as dead any any of the other specialist tableslop GW release and drop support for within a year
>>98696572The problem isn't "oh I can still use my old books," the problem is "oh, I can't find any players because everyone uses the GW gateway into the official RPG and nobody gives my older system pitches any attention." You may have a group now, but you'll hit your 30s, your 40s, your 50s, and your groups will fade as life takes over. And the only potential replacements left are sucking the GW teat because that's all they know, all they WANT to know, and anything beyond that is, well, "it's not the REAL system by GW".
>>98696640Hey! I'm nearly 40 and I still play with my original group from highschool!Over IRC.Maybe once a month. Sometimes twice if we've got time. Shut up.
>>98696640Ah yeah, like what happened with Wrath and Glory. ...What happened with Imperium Maledictum. Or rather, the FFG games never got anywhere because the OFFICIAL game by GW, Inquisitor, was what everyone was playing. There are more people sharing their FFG game stories on here than ever before, over 15 years after the FFG line came out. It remains the one with the most stuff for it, official and fanmade.Sorry, mister 816.M41, your doomer faggotry is just that. A good game never truly dies.
>>98696707>There are more people sharing their FFG game stories on here than ever beforeThere's maybe 20-30 unique IPs in this thread, tops, compared to the hundreds, maybe thousands, in places like Ordo Discordia that play the newer systems. This thread is just full of grogs who never let FFG go. It's a place where people think they won the edition war, when in reality it's an isolated containment zone to keep you from frightening the normalfags with things outside the accepted consensus.
>>98694226prepping for my game's campaign finale on sunday. hopefully the warboss doesn't krump the entire partyi finished up the maps, the statblocks, added some backup characters in case anyone dies, and most importantly i actually wrote down what all the NPCs will say and all the narrationshould be a fun time

Whats the coolest and most destructive man portable weapon in the Imperium of Man's arsenal? I want to make a plot around a general from 30k time warped into 40k and he is leading his men, thinking that the Imperium are tratoirs, I want to give him the baddest weapon I can so that I can frame hersay and rumors about his power.Something along the line of, he extends his hand and engulfed whole platoon in strange light, and leaves naught but ash, or his weapon belched golden flame and melted even the hardest of armor to slay, etc.
>>98697264From 30k? Probably some original volkite weapons. The kind that let a solar auxilia dude melt a space marine if he overcharged it.
>>98697264Just get a Jokaero make him something. If not a type of Halo device could also work.
>>98697264The Imperial Household has a complete monopoly on adrathic disintegrators. Maybe he could find a stash.

>>98697149Those people are the faggiest faggots who ever fagged.
Wasn't expecting a Necromunda RPG, even less one put out by GW themselves. I'm not sure it'll replace DH1e as my go-to 40k gutterpunk RPG, but any competition to the thoroughly mediocre Cubicle 7 books is more than welcome.
>>98699425Oh they made a new book for necromunda? neat.
>>98682924Modern game releases are incredibly slow. Its like one or two products a quarter & one of those isnt a real book, but some kind of initiative card/power cards type of bullshit
>>98699798I kind of hope we get a 'history of' tabletop games book eventually. There's so much strangeness behind the scenes, like Alpha Omega becoming a bitbof high budget weirdness attached to Cloverfield because people thought the ARG was for the movie, or the Shadowrun Embezzlement saga, or Pathfinder existing because Bulmahn didn't want to stop making 3.5e even if ogl died.
>>98701038Holy shit. Ive never met anyone whose ever HEARD of Alpha Omega. I bought the book years ago, cause it looked like Shadowrun mixed with Legion (the movie about demon apocalypse) & thought it would be cool. I was pretty disappointed & yeah, its sad to see a potential game line die on the vine because of Cloverfield. If there ever is a "history of gaming" I want them to cover the RIFTS embezzlement fiasco too

>>98639928No, we just went on to Ascension.
>>98701085I tried to run it once, but it didn't work out. The rules are a little incomplete - no jumping - and I think the only races worth playing were human, nephilim and lesser nephilim? I ran some math through it by checking it against ascension paths since stat limits were useless, I think you could raise them above any other limit in character creation alone? It's been a long time. Wielding was fundamentally broken in that I think most fatigue was used in the simplest spells, and the alpha omega sources were so poorly written out and inconsistent with what they could affect. Nice ideas though. The bestiary was funny and made the world a little bleaker too. The Omega Megasatan Energy Being was probably going to die to a pissed off Omega Lich or possibly the demon centaur thing. Good read. You have it, or want me to dump it somewhere?
>>98701168No, I have the core book & I found the bestiary online somewhere once, but im not that concerned. Mostly I keep it on my shelf to warn me against just buying anything that looks nice but cant hold up to scrutiny.I do have to admit there was a lot of ideas there. I just wish those ideas worked lol. I also like the hillbilly mutants, but I cant remember their name
>>98696707>more people sharing their FFG game stories on here than ever beforeAt least half of them are just writing fanfic, anon. They don't game and never have. They're here because /qst/ is even deader than /tg/ and the mods don't run them off anymore. >>98694226Quick recap on our post Ascension.Everyone had their 1 year timeskip, we're now Dark Heresy: Shippuden. Lord Constantine is missing, every known bed in Scintilla has been checked, so it is serious. Man's on the run or hiding from the many political enemies he's made from balling too hard and getting too much shit done. We're issued a new crackolyte, a voidborn Death Cult Assassin with FW even worse than the psyker. A proper goth tard wife with Agility 70, our own Kibellah. We're also now officially Throne Agents and get all the cool perks and responsability that come with the rank, we even get a Guncutter. You know Constantine's issue is serious because its HIS guncutter, the Lysathea that was a gift from the Lathes. All black, invisible to 99% of Imperial augurs, a spooky stealth ship.We have a brief stop to retrieve it as it was stashed away in a junkyard in the lower hive levels of Scintilla. Just in time since a gang had found it and wanted to strip it for copper. We power walk and kill them all in a couple turns, except for one who Callidia spares and orders him to let his gang know to leave things like this alone next time they find it.We take some time to restock the guncutter's supplies, buy a whole bunch of knives for the assassin since she was mirin' Callidia's [C'tan Blade], gifted by a real C'tan shard. A whole bunch of shells for Galen's heavy bolter and general basic gear. Now we set off to Fenksworld, our mission is to investigate the Beast House, since our previous mission uncovered their dealings with Temple Tendency and being part of sourcing a nuke in an attempt to destroy the Abbey of the Dawn in Iocanthos.Callidia manages a deal with a Tramp Freighter, we get to hitch a ride in their cargo hold until they make their stop at Fenksworld.I have to buy Piloting (Spacecraft) at a premium, so we can actually fly this thing. Addind to Callidia's many other driving/piloting skills.
>>98705125If Calixis is the ass-end of the Imperium, Fenksworld is the asshole. Self-governing prison planet, you already know how bad it sucks. It's surprising how lovely Iocanthos becomes when you see these places. At first we land and start Inquiring. Galen goes on a Gelenventure with Fenria, Callidia goes finding information on one of the best sources: Imperial Guard, having to settle for the PDF instead.Regardless, she farms incredible clout by acting like a dizzy silly sororitas and patches up many of the PDFs, mostly industrial and work accidents, but one man has his spine rebuilt by the Emperor's miracleworker.Cellanus finds information in a game of cards, truly the gambler. One old man apparently knows about the Beast House, so Callidia hasa him show up in a room she took as "office".The man is pretty smart and knows something is very odd about a Hospitaller asking about such things, and asks what she'll do if he doesn't answer.Callidia pulls out the =][= badge and says she doesn't know, because he will answer her questions. He doesn't give anything concrete, other than the Beast House's presence and control is much larger and stronger than the dossier believed. Old Salt is let go, since he's smart enough to forget that conversation ever happened.Meanwhile Galenventures result in finding out about a Coliseum sponsored by Beast House and Co. So he decides to join as a random gladiator. Turns out that Bull Mask is there, in a vip lounge watching the fight, so Fenria does her sneaking and slips into his suite. While Galen negative diffs some xenobeasts thrown at him, Fenria learns about [Blasphemy Zero], a monster they unleashed in the underhives of Volg, and a heretek Magos they're working with, as well as one living Belasco who is an old fatfuck heretic in a steel chair. Now, Fenria is a DEATH CULT ASSASSIN, and the Bull Mask is right there! What do you want her to do, NOT assassinate him?
>>98696707C7 still publish those FFG games, but only on PDFs
>>98705194Unfathomably easily, Fenria does a flip and sticks above the doorway when the Bull Mask stands up to leave. His head flies off in an arc, his body doesn't realize he's dead until after a couple steps, where it thumbles to the ground. Just like that, the head of the Beast House in Fenksworld is dead.No matter who and how powerful you are, at any point you could get murked my 4 retards sent by the Inquisition. And that's one of it's scariest weapons.
A couple of small updates for books have been sent to the Mega.https://mega.nz/folder/ouxCVIJD#ZdGQx36Dg4I3GfM7-kyoYwThe Fringe is Yours (v1.13.36)Changelog:-Reaver Jetbike Blaster missing Penetration added.-Razorwing Duplicated Splinter Rifle typo fixed.-Talos Stinger Pod missing Range and RoF added.-The Drukhari Agonizer (Lash) and Archite Glaive weapons now have the Balanced Quality.>This facilitates dual wielding them like the Succubus model can. Note that the problem is tied to the Blade Dancer talent, which allows dual wielding at no penalty, provided the weapons have Balanced. Modern 40k has brought all sorts of wild combinations together, such as Khornates dual wielding chainaxes, space marines dual wielding power fists, and more. In the future, the Blade Dancer talent itself may require consideration, which is difficult as it is an official talent, and I try not to mess with those.Colonies Full v5Changelog:-HKSD Colony Technology "Bounty Contracts" now triggers on every three units destroyed in mass combat rather than every five. War is that much more profitable.>Work on Anarchy in the Galaxy is slow, because mission prep for my current game takes up a majority of my time, between the corruption missions, trade missions, klevyx exchanges, commorragh operations, and more. I do what I can, but I don't have much time right now. And I STILL have to update Manual 4 Manlets with Ironkin, Kapricus, and stuff.
>>98701484I'd love to discuss my party and our adventures more but I feel utterly mogged by Callida-anon's fun art and my party's reliance on shitty ai slop since we don't have a drawfag. We had a guy with artistic talent looking to join but he got sent to the middle east
>>98706012Don't worry about it, anon. Post your party's Rogue Trader shenanigans anyway. One of the biggest stories - All Guardsmen Party - only used meme images and assorted art of relevancy. You don't need it to be your own, you're a Rogue Trader. Acquire someone else's.
>>98705234Sorry anon. You can always pick up the pencil. And my condolences about your drawfag being sent to die for israel. If it's anything, I'm in a cyberpunk game where it's all AI slop, haven't drawed anything for that.

>>98706012The problem is people who are telling stories using faggy nucanon and not keeping to the original themes. Nobody cares about these "stories" so telling them is just pissing into the wind.
>>98706055>>98706062>>98706066An foid who joined the game after playing D&D with us said she didn't know much about the universe. She asked "can I be like, a ridiculous chinese communist stereotype?" and naturally was ecstatic about the existence of the Tau, and found the whole battlesuits concept pretty cool as well. As justification for her lack of knowledge about anything, she came up with amnesia as part of her backstory. We'd find her character(a gruff male tau named Pul Pot) half dead and suffering from amnesia, drifting through space in a heavily damaged battlesuit after it got sucked out into space and into a warp storm that sent him across the galaxy. Throughout the game he'd be gathering supplies and slowly working to fix his battlesuit, which of course would conveniently happen once he levelled up enough to unlock the battlesuit pilot career. Since he had nowhere to go, we were able to coerce him into working for us as a hired killer and a vaguely competent diplomat for when we were dealing with other xenos. She told our GM that he could "go wild" with her pre amnesia backstory for her, and BOY did he. As promised, she has played Pul Pot as a goofy chinese communist stereotype, speaking in an exaggerated accent and preaching about how amazing the Tau empire, the etherals, and the greater good are whenever he could get away with it. A VERY patriotic Tau, loyal to and proud of his empire. The thing is, when we found his armor floating through space, we noticed it was painted a vibrant red and had THIS symbol on the side. Those of us who recognized it have been absolutely giddy about the upcoming reveal for months. Bit by bit, memories came back to him, pieces of his home life, campaigns against orks, tyranids, drukhari, and most vibrantly, the great commander and leader he served under, who he utterly idolized...
>>98706136I tip my hat to your GM, from one GM to another.
>>98706136In Drukhari prison we met another Tau, an earth caste engineer snatched up in a planetary raid. Pul Pot naturally befriended him, and he was a significant part of our escape. After we became free and everything was dealt with, Pul'Pot brought him onto the ship to help him finally finish fixing the suit. The engineer immediately shit his pants upon seeing it, but being surrounded by scary guela with guns, obeyed and fixed it up(well, he got it functional at least). Within were a couple of intact video memory logs! Finally, a concrete connection to Pul Pot's past! He opened the first one, and what he saw...him and some of his comrades wearing their distinctive red armor firing on and killing other Tau. Wise young Godwinne, who had secretly set his scholars to analyzing the suit and its markings(and put a ton of points into forbidden lore xenos so he didn't have to hide his knowledge of the universe) had his attendant Polly give Pul Pot a VERY healthy serving of Amasec, sat him down, and gave him "the talk" about how he wasn't actually from the Tau empire, sharing what little he knew about the political situation there. By the end both Pul Pot and his player were in absolute shock, utterly disoriented with their entire worldview turned inside out, and I was giddily swinging my feet under my desk like a schoolgirl. Pul Pot was able to convince the engineer to stay with us(he has to crash on Pul Pot's couch, Pul Pot's player is now regretting asking for minimalist spartan living quarters) and teach him more about the empire and the enclaves throughout the next few sessions. There was also a generic "dead wife flashback" video log of Pul Pot having a Guela wife just because we thought that'd be funny after all of his anti guela comments.>>98706100I care about these stories, I care a lot about them. It was my understanding that that was half the point of these threads. Why have a general about an rpg if not to share fun stories from your time playing it?
>>98706100What games do you play? The people sharing stories are sharing games and how they play. What nucanon is even relavant in dark heresy and rogue trader games?
>>98706176Also after we got out and got paid for the whole Soul Reaver debacle we slopped together some custom crew uniforms. We went with white red and gold based on the house colors of the esteemed Lord Captain Godwinne D'Argenval(famous scholar, diplomat, hero of the Imperium, and sex symbol), and decided that napoleonic hussars would be our main aesthetic inspiration. I'm pretty satisfied with how they came out, even though the slop machine got confused about how the people in the reference images were wearing their jackets. This is our generic "squad" token that includes both an officer and some common soldiers, might go back and add some variety to the faces eventually but its not like we're looking super closely at these, we have more generic tokens with swappable faces for characters of note.
>>98706176How was the player handling the reveal afterwards?
>>98706263We'll have to see next session, it was a climactic big reveal and we all had to go after. As I said, for now, its disorientation, but she's definitely very curious about the Farsight Enclaves and excited to learn more. She's hoping to find more Tau and thus more information(our engineer guy has been away from the empire for quite a while). That's quite unlikely since we're on the opposite side of the galaxy, but of course that's up to our GM.
>>98706303This image is basically my team. The earth caste combat engineer is eager to use all the new weird shit they have access to, while the wych still clings to trying to use only Drukhari tech. The air caste sky captain looks at his own guns in fear every time he fires them.
>>98706136>>98706176Holy shit, amazing. That twist is on the same level as my gm's stuff he throws at us, maybe he's anothe shard of The Deceiver.
>>98706176But the farsight enclaves are even more strict about castes, to the point they have caste-restricted planets. How would a tau have a human wife?
Does the warp have a "smell?" Can you detect incoming or nearby chaos/warp/ entities or lifeforms by a distinctive smell?
>>98706791My favorite descriptor is a greasy feeling in the air, it gets harder to breathe, animal instinct starts screaming to run. Play on the base emotions and sensations.
>>98706012Post your stories my dude, hearing about rogue trader shenanigans is always fun and the mindfucking of your Tau guy is pretty awesome. >>98706791I usually go for describing cold, static electricity and the smell of ozone, mixing in a few descriptors based on the kind of warp corruption or life forms. Iron in the air for khornate cults and such which has been what they're mostly dealing with. Almost a sticky feeling like humidity where the air is harder to breathe and everything feels "wrong">t. the third guy posting stories.
Anyone ever think about how their characters started vs were they ended up? What scars, mutations & corruption have they suffered? Any flesh lost & replaced by steel? Friends lost or gained? Pictures appreciated if possible.
>>98706948There was that one time Guardsman Galen held down a 10+ tonnes truck in reversed gravity with one arm, saving everyone on it and inside it. It cost him his arm, but the Sororitas who witnessed the miracle he pulled off gave him a new one.
I'm more curious to know if people uses any type of worlds that is not what's usually depcted; hive worlds à la Necromunda, agri-world that's mostly peasants in hovels and the like.I got a frontier world idea that's mostly just a western, but instead of a stagecoach being attacked by indians on horses, it's a large trailer-bus being attacked by speudo-indians on attack bikes. turns out it was an old mechanicus world that got destroyed and turned to desert for millenia, basically a feral world with some shamanic omnissiah themed cargo cult.
>>98706791Only if it's a Nurgle daemon approaching. Anyway, what's the point of psyniscience if everyone just automatically knows there's warpshit on the way?
>>98707353I dunno. One time, I gave my Rogue Trader players a medieval fantasy world that had dragons, high-XP knight characters and an evil magic lord that was basically Ice King from Adventure Time as a Chaos Sorcerer.
>>98707353I like doing stuff like an agri-world thats all ocean algae farms, with zero land, & people live on nomatic houseboats. An ice world thats 99% just cold storage for others. The people there just tend to billions of storage sheds/containers. Its also fun to throw in various things like, an Inquisitor who stashed a chaos wanted object in the vaults & now its started to emanate & influence the locals into Chaos cult, or just bury some Necrons in tombs deep under all those storage bunkersI also like the idea of Prison-Hive Worlds, that are sort of like the ending shot of Jet Lee's "The One" where everyone is piled into huge prison systems.
>>98706948>Anyone ever think about how their characters started vs were they ended up?Not really unless the group is rolling/writing a new regiment it just doesn't come up often enough to feel interesting.Like I remember writing down about a death cult using wasp familiars as their favorite weapon but... That went nowhere.
>>98707353I made up a world that’s a detah world/knight world/ and astartes recruiting planet all in one. The highlands where the knights live have been terraformed, but most of the world is a rad blasted, poisoned wasteland cut apart by miles deep canyons of fused glass from prolonged lance battery bombardments millenia ago. The native fauna all used heavy metals in their biology making them inedible and giving them all kinds of bizarre properties. One of the more common predators are octopoid ambush hunters that camouflage themselves and attack passers by with tentacles that can inject digestive enzymes so they can drink the poor unfortunate. They range from dog to elephant sized as you get closer to the relatively small equatorial ocean and seas.

He desperately wants to find a way to mend his ravaged mind & pull out his war augs, but has routinely chosen not to every time hes hand a rare chance to do so.

>>98705234continuing since i ended up busy with a 12h cyberpunk sessionThe head of the Beast House in Fenksworld is dead, one can only imagine the power vaccum and mess the criminal underworld will become. But the worst part is that Fenria denied Cellanus his God-Emperor given right to gamble at the coliseum and bet on the fights.Fenria skidaddles and hides in the many abandones access shafts and maintenance corridors with Bull Mask's head and Mask, meeting up with Cellanus so he can make the gm spill out the plot with divination.Galen gets accosted in the Gladiator showers by BH enforcers, they ask him if he had anything to do with BM's death."No."- Failure by 7 degrees on DeceptionEnforcers say they don't believe, Galen then makes them shit themselves by openly declaring he is Inquisition, says his true name and that he's sending them to confirm it with Big E, by means of giga Intimidatio roll.Half the Enforcers lose their minds and shoot each other, the rest watch their shotgun pellets bounce off Galen's armour and mooscles like BBs. Galen obliterates them with his Relic Greatsword.Back in the nooks and crannies, Cellanus gets expositioned with a vision of the Crackolytes becoming dinner to the curent BBEGs.>Callidia's eyes and hair, seasoned to perfection>A soup of Fenria, with her horrified face floating on it>Fine grilled cuts of Galen's mooscle fibers>Cellanus ??>Gyrinx kebab on skewersAt the head of the table is the last Belasco heretic, with his Discord moderator physique stuck to a life support chair. Also a giga heretic as lore skill revealed not only he's a cannibal (like most nobles are) he has fine dined on many acolytes before. To reinforce the point, next to him is a Witch Hunter (heretic) with 3 skulls hanging from his drip, each one with a Rosette embedded on it. This implies this guy has killed 3 Inquisitors before, good thing we are not inquisitors.

>>98710271On the other side of the table, the Heretek Magos in his full disgusting rotten mess of cables and metal. There also is a woman with a long ayy lmao skull, like those cystal skulls. There's also SinderfellSINDERFELL?WE ARE KILLING HER TOMORROW AGAINLikely doesnt mean she's actually alive, as warp visions are fucky, probably just represents she was with them and partook in their dinings. We burned that bitch to a crisp and got OOC confirmation she burned all her fate points trying to survive. We then shoved her charred remains into a special box provided by Ordo Malleus, the only way she's coming back is some GM asspull. But isnt that what the warp is for?Anyhow, the crackolytes meet up in that dark corner to discuss their findings and Cellanus's vision. We keep the Bull Mask as evidence, as for his head- Callidia pins it to a nearby wall, cuts the eyelids off one eye to keep it open and draws the =][= outline of the symbol around the head, so it takes the place of the skull in a rosette.GM and I thought it was really sick to mark that we the =][= are everywhere and it will scare the shit out of whoever finds it. I hope its someone from BH that does. Now we have our main targets, we decide to hunt the Heretek Magos so we fuck off to Volg and track him. How? No real idea, but we know he unleashed [Blasphemy Zero] in the underhive, so that's our main lead. We hunt it and work our way up from there.Bull Mask mentioned they killed it a few times but it didnt stick, somehow it returned. They said the same thing about Sinderfell. We're built different, that thing is going down on turn 5 at least. If you read the info about Volg, or worse, read a wiki article about it, you can know all about how it turbo sucks. We get a taste of that with a bunch of kids speaking in their foul slang, tailing us since offworldas make plenty of deaders, that they can bring to the recyk vats for monny to buy profein and fill tumnmy.
>>98710388The air is super duper toxic too, so we're in full gear and Power Armour (Galen and Callidia). As the martyr that she is, Callidia picks up on the slang and nagivates through the the kids socially. We stumble around, make a couple of deaders but end up making contact with a ganger higher up named Glynda, in an abandoned Mechanicus sanctuary.Glynda is an old woman with lots of old augmetics, the reclamators there all try to keep up the Mechanic Cult, but none are actual admech, they just run on the vague diluted idea of what it is, after many generations losing grasp of things. No real heresies detected here tho. Still they spelunk in the underhive for salvage and hopefully archeotech they can sell uphive. And into the underdark we go, after paying her 40 thrones to use the elevator.Complete, total darkness. Even dark sight doesnt help much in this vast and oppressive dark. Constant feeling of being watched, hunted by things creeping out of sight. Spooky. We reach the bottom and meet a reclamator, Callidia treats his concussion and he tells about how his group ran into [Blasphemy Zero], how it lays traps like a trapdoor spider. It snatches you from any crevice in the wall/floor/ceiling and pulls you in, snapping you in half.He only survived because he ran away while his friends were getting torn apart, their Mercy Killers bouncing off the monster.Note: Mercy Killer is the name of a widely available, shitty, single-shot stub gun these people have. Called that because it'll be a Mercy if it kills whatever you shoot with it.We let him go back up after flicking a single gelt to him and the elevator operator, then go for a stroll in the underhive. Simple enough plan, we run into the monster, we kill the monster.Things to avoid: getting killed by monsters. We eventually find a mutant bleeding out in a corner, he calls out and begs to be killed, saying he wants to die by the hands of a fellow man instead tha beast.
>>98710458Galen takes on the man's plea, tells him his true name but is stopped by Cellanus using soul sight to doxx the man's entire life.In the meantime [Blasphemy Zero] steals the kill, with the man screaming to not let it take him. Unfortunately, we're all surprise round'd. Gm gave a great, horrifying description on how the man was pulled into a small gap in the floor, crushing his bones. The best thing I can compare is that video of a crab experiencing Delta-P in that pipe. Just imagine it being with a person instead, like those PSA videos about divers also experiencing Delta-P.[Blasphemy Zero] is a huge monster, but its able to squeeze through tiny places, so it scurries away to it's nest with its fresh prey. Thank Emperor for this useful witch, since Cellanus is able to stalk it with Far Sight/Dowse and follow it into it's nest.We have the general location and direction, it's by an abandoned church because ofc it is. A gory nest of many human carcasses, but Cellanus notices the bodies are carefully arranged into a pattern. This means it's part of a chaos ritual, we just don't know what for yet.For some reason the way B-0 crawled between walls and terrain reminded me of Rain World, with the slugcats. The crackolytes now have to find a way to reach the nest, despite Fenria just wanting to flex her Agility 70 and follow B-0 through the same passages.

>>98710882While theres other reasons to servitorize him (borderline heretek remember), I mostly meant that he keeps running around as mostly a warmachine instead of sometimes taking it all off & being a bit less like a living fortress artillery emplacement. We went through the ringer on one mission & our reward was to spend some time at a health clinic/rehab Shrine World where we hoped to maybe cure our combat monster soldier of his literal bloodthirst since he had adopted a raw carnivore diet after a mental break. But while everyone else was disarmed & disrobed, relaxing & having a good time, my guy was being paranoid & stayed in his war gear even though he had the opportunity to literally unplug
Can someone please explain Rouge Traders to me? Why do they exist? Given how oppressive and xenophobic the Imperium is why would they let anyone be outside their control or trade with aliens?
>>98711484>Given how oppressive and xenophobic the Imperium is why would they let anyone be outside their control or trade with aliens? The Imperiums rules are for the billions of lives living under their regieme, not so much for the nobles at the top.
>>98711484Most warrants of trade are ancient documents inherited from a much earlier time in the imperium when things were more about expansion and working with what resources they had, incorporating whatever spaceships and their armed forces into the great crusade whenever possible. They acted as scouts, canaries in the coal mine and intelligence assets who's unconventional and irregular composition cold be useful. Because the emperor or his proxy signed the warrants of trade they're more or less impossible to revoke so as the imperium became what it is in the 40th millennium the inheritance of those documents became powerful empires of trade, with some of the same use as before and a significant amount of socioeconomic pull. Keep in mind the imperium being oppressive isn't uniform, most planets and planetary governors are left to their own devices as long as the tithes keep rolling and nothing too heretical happens. There's constant internal politics about control between the various branches, lords, inquisotrs, departments, etc. No one is in direct constant control and its useful to have loyal enough force projection in the margins. Also keep in mind not all rogue traders are huge successful empires or dashing swashbucklers. The wording of the warrant of trade and the various fortunes of the families over time make for a wide range of huge trade empires, fringe operators and boring space truckers.
>>98711484>why have powerful people when the imperium craves oppressionyou are a foolish noodle brain, polities require consolidation of power to run more efficiently. you may as well ask why imperial governors exist.>why do Rogue Traders get a license to say Fuck Youexplaining the complex political ties and mandates of a Writ of Trade would be lost on you. suffice it to say that a) the majority of a warrant's powers come into play outside the borders of the Imperium, encouraging them to go out there and then bring wealth and intel back, and b) the Imperium is run by a giant bloated neofeudalistic interconnection of peers that all scrabble for influence and power against one another, and Rogue Traders participate in this system pretty normally
>>98711484>Why do they exist?Because the Emperor, Malcador and eventually, others, wanted a tool to remove troublesome people while still having them serve a purpose, and telling them to go fly off into the unknown and scout, conquer and rule for the glory of the IMperium (Within these very specific bounds) was useful.>Oppressive and xenophobicIt got worse over time. And because the trading was just a side effect initially, some xenos were permitted to exist, just not many. Can't very well conquer, explore, establish relations if you're not allowed to swap shiny beads. There are warrants with conditions that are similar to "Can do these things within this region of space" and once it's all folded into the Imperium, that's it. You can't do anything else. Some noble families are founded that way. There's some who are perpetually at the wave front of Imperial expansion, which these days means the edges of the galaxy in the regions that the Imperium can't actually properly administer. That sort of thing.
>>98711610Being an RT is also a way to get someone out of the way in the higher ups of imperial politics since they'll have to fuckoff to outside the bureaucracy.
>>98709669>>98710183Don't you have imagination? Using the same principles but changing colours is not subverting expextations

>>98712483Excuse me if I want consistency in my setting, not "pacifist orks" or whatever people try to subvert nowadays.
>>98711907>>98712563No, but there is nothing wrong in not ahving an Agri-world covered in medieval peasants nor being just wheat fields as far as the eye can see.It seems you mistake having a perculiar world doing a thing versus changing the whole setting (i.e pacific Orks)A million worlds a million cultures. There is no needto have Cadian black women to make it diverse, the Guard, and the Imperium was already quite diverse. But since it was a million different mono-culture, that might be troublesome for some.
>>98712563A hive world being a different kind of shitty will not destroy "your setting" in all the games you don't play.
>>98712581The Wod warrior always gives me a giggle
To comment on the bitch fit being had right now;Every Imperial world is both the embodiment of its classification, like Forge Worlds being Forge worlds or Agri-Worlds being Agri-Worldsz but there is always the unique element. Even if its the difference between one Forge World only making guns & another one vehicles, or the Agri-Worlds harvesting different crops. That itself creates a ton of points to make it special. If one world is one giant rice patty the size of Venus & the other is barley as far as the eye can see, theyre gonna have tons of fundamental differences. Just like a vehicle factory is more likely to have hot rod subculture while a tailoring factory could have cultures & fashion just based on what they salvage from the scrap & put together.Dont be retarded.
>>98706012I'm not accusing you or Callida-anon of anything specific, but I've been gaming off and on since 1984, both running games and playing, over multiple systems. I've never personally seen someone generate art for the game that we're playing. Hell, I don't remember the last time that I ran a game for a group where everyone even painted their damned minis after a year in. One of my long time players engages in note taking that I can only describe as obsessive and she doesn't retell stories like I see here. If she were asked for a session recap, you'd get the raw notes. Most of the stories that I see posted here strike me as red flags unfortunately. I'm not saying that these things don't happen, just that I've never seen them happen and I've been doing this for a long time. I've also been on /tg/ for a long time and when you spend enough time here, you start to notice stories about campaigns that sound...not right. What you almost never see are character sheets or minis. Given that those are present at every table that I've ever played at in the last 20 years, I find that odd, but this is an odd place.>picrel is missing a space marine because the player that owns the mini doesn't leave it at the table due to concerns about potential cat golf, even though the minis are stored in a cat proof container>it's another absolver before anyone asks>why yes this is wag, how did you know
>>98712785Buddy of mine thought up an agriworld that grew a supercrop which spontaneously combusts on a thirteen year cycle causing planet-wide infernos. It was originally designed by a Heretek Biologis agent as a trojan horse in an effort to destroy the sector, but the bumper crops they get for the first twelve years mean they just keep replanting it in the newly ash-rich soil.
>>98713003>Agriworld that virus bombs itself minus the virus
>>98712999You know, I was going to call you a retarded faggot, but given you had the decency to get trips, I'll put you on some game. You might be familiar with the concept that is people playing online as opposed to in person, meaning they don't use minis because they have no physical playspace because they use online services to play on instead. The result is that we rely more on art than painted minis or physical props. I would show you the character sheets we use, but that would be breaching player privacy because they're not my sheets and I'm not going to do that for the sake of an internet argument, nor would it satisfy you because you wouldn't accept a non-physical example as sufficient proof. The actual answer is that >>(You) are holding people up to standards that they cannot meet because of new means of play, and considering that a red flag. You say you aren't accusing anyone of anything specific, but you are. You're saying that they don't meet >>(You)r standards of what seems legitimate and as a result consider them fake because they don't conform to >>(You)r experiences of what games are like. I mean this with no ill intent whatsoever, but your attitude is what strangles any other discussion about their games on here because you consider them red flags if they don't fit your understand of what a game is.Is this what you want? Every thread to be a no true scotsman exercise where if someone can't prove down to the detail that their game is "real", then they're "fake" and shouldn't be allowed to talk on here? You're setting yourself and /tg/ up to fail, because the only game that can be proved to your satisfaction is your own game, and that's by design. I could give you my sheets, my 160-page chatlogs and because they're digital, you wouldn't accept them because they could plausibly be faked.Gimme a fucking break, anon. Quit your moral grandstanding and just post about your game rather than playing thread police.
>>98707353Reminds me of the description of Logan's World from Rogue Trader, where bandits joined forces with Ork colonies to raid ore caravans. Every century they'd all be scoured as the warp storms that covered the system would abate for a week, and the Imperium would drop down to violently reassert its power and collect tithes.
>>98712785>world is both the embodiment of its classificationPlanet classifications are post-facto descriptors thrust onto the planet by the Administratum as it tries to figure out its tithing grade and place in the Imperium. The Imperium is supposed to be a radically diverse place, with the only thing being consistent across worlds being its technology since everyone relies on STCs to construct everything (as long as it's functioning).
>>98711484>Can someone please explain Rouge Traders to me?The Emperor needed their own equivalent of Hernan Cortez and Christopher Columbus in order to colonize and destabilize various civilizations without sending the Legions their way.So he took about 100 ships and gave them permission to do whatever the fuck they wanted as long as they answered to him, when he kicked the bucket the only people who could reasonably knock them down without a massive shit show were the Custodes and later on the Inquisition.
>>98711484They explore wild space and conduct trade with xenos and non-Imperial humans. They act as scouts for places the Impierum doesn't have much knowledge of, and can give reports about which aliens are dangerous or useful or useless, and where there are human populations the Imperium has yet to claim, and how to best deal with them. They can also troubleshoot threats to the Imperium before they ever become an issue, as they are given/ buy a sizable military and fleet. Rogue Traders are made because there are powerful individuals who are too important, popular, or otherwise inconvenient to just get rid of, that represent some kind of existential challenge to one or all of the High Lords of Terra. Essentially, the High Lords just buy off the individual's exile.
>>98713496Online "games" don't have the spontaneity and in-person cameraderie that face to face games have. You see a line of text, you think, you type. it's sterile, clinical, and planned out as you proofread your responses before you hit send. In a real game, someone could get drunk, unexpectedly make a fool of themselves, and your group will laugh about it for years to come. You can't verify that the results are planned too, since you may not have access to the dice roller. Everyone sees the dice on the table, everyone knows it's fully random. And yes, logs after the fact can be easily edited. So yes, cliffnotes and highlights are more real than a long detailed novel.
>>98714830Most online games are done over video call, grandpa. Go yell at some other clouds.
>>98714298Oh and another point, it's useful that the since the Rogue Traders are acting as independent agents, the Imperium can always claim that they are rogue operators if they ever do some fucked up shit. People forget, but the Imperium does actually engage in diplomacy, yes even with xenos.
>>98710795>regular space marines of the Deathwatch, and how we ended as Praetors carrying the spirit of the Great Crusade,You went back in time?
>>98714830Yeah, online games aren't as fun. Its not like I can just fly my long distance friends over every week, its a compromise i have to deal with.

What's the difference between Archeotech and STC fragments?
>>98715385Archaeotech is stuff that's really old (as in made a long time ago, though you could also apply it to something pushed out of an automated factory) and is generally not capable of being made anymore. Typically applies to stuff from the DAOT, Age of Strife, or early Imperium, not aware of anything that isn't from there actually. An STC fragment is data - it's a fragment of an STC database. It might be stored on an archaeotech device, but ultimately the important part here is the information.
>>98715264No. We just embodied the ideals and became recognized as praetors.
Are there paradise worlds that are used for recruitment by Space Marine chapters or do they only go after people in Hive Cities or death worlds?
>>98715313this is why no one plays with you. if my gm posted my character sheets without my consent I'd fucking cave their skull in with a bat.
How is the Admech organized on a spatial level? I can make the assumption that each forgeworld acts as the headquarters of a diocese of sorts, and from there the Cult can direct its priests. But then, could it be expected that the Cult would maintain a presence on every world with some level of advanced tech? If a planet has a generator, is there a mission of the Cult located there 24/7, or is it more like once every generation the Admech touches down to perform maintenance and make sure everything is operating within proper parameters?
>>98715736Paradise worlds rarely have real populations. They're more like where the governor goes on an extended hunting trip when the humdrum of oppressing the planetary population gets too boring. Space Marines wouldn't recruit from them anyway unless it was something like, they recruited the children who managed to escape being hunted Most Dangerous Game style. The Imperium at large believes in eugenics, and if you want to produce the finest warriors they need to be gathered from the most savage and violent stock.
