What kind of price would you put on human size Terminator Armour, in thrones or RT profit factor or whatever else.

>>98717040I mean yeah but if you could put a monetary value on it. Saying 1,000,000+ thrones feels like it's too general. In any case this is just for the question of things like that or amigers and other things that nobody in their right mind would try to buy.
>>98717065There is no 'buy'. There is only politic and loot.
>>98717065Try to see it that way, you're some rich noble and you want a good power armor. That's really expensive but you should find one without too much troubles. Now a human sized terminator armor? That's some lord inquisitor gear. And they typically don't "buy" their shit.
>>98715736They prefer the extremely harsh lives lived on death worlds and the like because it makes a stronger base for the marine to be, physically and mentally (blood angels being a notable exception to the physical part of this). And they are dancing, the board floor slamming under the jackboots and the fiddlers grinning hideously over their canted pieces. Towering over them all is the judge and he is naked dancing, his small feet lively and quick and now in doubletime and bowing to the ladies, huge and pale and hairless, like an enormous infant. He never sleeps, he says. He says he’ll never die. He bows to the fiddlers and sashays backwards and throws back his head and laughs deep in his throat and he is a great favorite, the judge. He wafts his hat and the lunar dome of his skull passes palely under the lamps and he swings about and takes possession of one of the fiddles and he pirouettes and makes a pass, two passes, dancing and fiddling at once. His feet are light and nimble. He never sleeps. He says that he will never die. He dances in light and in shadow and he is a great favorite. He never sleeps, the judge. He is dancing, dancing. He says that he will never die.
A Tithe Paid in Blood and Rot II.!>Resuming after a very short half-downtime mechanics session where the acolytes interrogated Vail, getting a collection of information related to: >his goals (Corrupt Dame Reila into the service of his cult, teach the doctrine of "true surrender" to the dark powers.) >his motivations (service to the Dark Apostle/Sorcerer-Prophet The Kindled Word, follower of Chaos Undivided who preaches surrender to the gods to achieve harmony with daemons and other forces, prove himself a worthy student)>his means (incense designed to slowly corrupt her, get her to indulge in surrendering control to first other people and then to faith, seeding his tainted scripture among other planets and hives over 10 years)And other members of this cult network that he knows of: The "Teacher" at the top, underlings favored for managing to achieve surrender to the Gods without falling to any one in particular too far/being able to adapt and incorporate the polytheist pantheon into their worship rather than being stuck on one. The "Student of All" who is held up as a favorite champion of the cult, also the one taking longlas pot shots at them, likes playing with his "food" and people who interest him, like the acolytes - he sees it as testing them. Then individual cults held below them, dedicated to specific gods to ease people in to the worship of Chaos Undivided. They discover that Vail is completely unable to name his teacher beyond the titles, or give specific information. Emilia the psyker tries to use her gifts to rip knowledge from his mind like a psychic interrogation, managing to find the following phrases, said in a voice not her own: "Ones like you are dozens, not hundreds. Chosen mortars, not simple brick." "A broken pawn is so troublesome." and finally "Held aloft by high and low alike" - a fragment of prophecy that Vail knew the Teacher followed. As Emilia keeps trying her luck, Vail begins to seize, and is put down by Hastus and Durrana.
>>98717869During the downtime, people buy various things, chiefly among them Hastus being bought a modified longlas by Durrana in exchange for effectively hiring him as a goon to work for her. He accepts and is paid in good booze plus a nice rifle. More importantly, Venria recieves summons from her order to give them an update as well as an explanation for "zeal that threatened the faith of those who tithe" aka half a political move and half a specific way to impede the sister as discussed with the player. Venria is summoned to a monastary-convent of her order by a Preceptor-Sister and Hospitaller, who recieve the update from the sister herself and issue the judgement. In short, her zeal is not punished, nor is her sacred fury, but the fact that she was unable to capture the man as she was ordered, and the context of making the risk of people losing faith in their sisterhood because the duke was only posthumously confirmed as a heretic.Venria is taken apart from the others, bolter and sword stripped away and her armor's left hand is wrapped in heavy chains to render it nigh unusable with a weapon, mirroring an injury from her patron saint, while a chain flail is shackled to her other arm. Finally, a metal full helm and death-mask modeled after the saint is affixed to her face, micro-needles lining the inside deliberately causing her pain so that she suffers and repents without being sent directly to repentia. The helmet is locked to her armor, meaning she can't take it or the armor off without permission.>That armor will be your new cell.mp4
>>98717872The session ends as the acolytes dig into some leads related to coded ledgers they looted and uncovered a connection to a "local" shipping company that handles transport of goods between this secter and neighboring ones, and they find a number of entries that are inconsistent with what was reported in other ledgers they found. They land in the local main spaceport when Emilia ends up collapsing from a psychic assault on her mind. As it turns out, using her psychic powers to try and poke at sorcerous/psychic compulsions may have attracted the attention of something else. Emilia ends up as the first to burn a fate point to resist death which is a fun portent of things to come.
Shit, missed the new thread.>>98713496>blah blah autism blahTA. You probably don't realize it, but people don't normally get angry about accusations that aren't directed at them. If for some reason it does bother them, even though it doesn't apply to them, they'll post a low effort proof that it doesn't apply to them...something like a table, or minis, or character sheets, or even a set of dice. Been running a dark heresy game, we started with only two players running two pc's each but now there is a third player involved I'm dropping them down to one pc each though the cleric/psyker player already did that for me>players are recruited by the inquisition for various reasons>they don't meat their inquisitor instead being met by Interrogator Danicus, a stern ex arbites in his early 40's with close cropped graying hair>party consists of Grim and Urza two Imperial World guardsmen (kriegers at the players request), Stellaris a voidborn Cleric, and Zeze a voidborn psyker>Danicus tells the party they have been recruited and are being sent for a test run to investigate a possible chaos cult on a major agri world that supplies a good chunk of the sub sectors food>travelling there on an old tramp ship puts the guardsmen on edge>they arrive on world and are sent to the safe house. Danicus gives them some spending money then goes to speak with the Enforcers about what they discovered >players go shopping, fail all checks to gather information on the few instances they do ask, buy overpriced pasties, ammunition, boards, sacks, canned meat, and Stellaris buys an expensive side by side shotgun>on the way back they are ambushed by gangers, proceed to exterminate them then assume they were cultists >the party returns to the safe house and the guardsmen use the boards and canned meat to fortify the house>Danicus returns and is unamused, making them take the most overt fortifications down>they tell him the one bit of news they discovered, a woman commented on how the voidborn looked like a group operating a warehouse in the wharf area>investigation time>the group splits up, Urza and Stellaris search near the wharf whilst Grim and Zeze search further in>Danicus covers the remaining area
>>98719008>Grim and Zeze are walking down a roadway when Zeze gets a feeling akin to insects crawling under her skin>working together they manage to pinpoint the warehouse its coming from>Stellaris and Urza are looking around the wharf when they spot a group of 15 individuals looking pale and sickly even under the street lumens>Urza, a latent psyker, gets that insects under the skin feeling>they shadow the group but are spotted>the group turns through a narrow alley between some admin buildings and after a moment the two follow>both see a foot sticking out from behind a crate>before Urza can stop her, Stellaris walks forward and is shot at point blank by a shotgun thar partially amputates her arm>Urza fights the four cultists off, killing two>stemming the blood flow the two flee but are followed, Urza realising as she feels the insects again as they close with the safe house>Urza takes off to amount the pursuers and is led on a chase>she misses the other one who ambushes Stellaris, knocking her out and kidnapping her>the others return to find Urza holed up in the safe house with Stellaris missing>Danicus considers the house burnt and scrambles them to a backup two room plus "hygiene cubicle" downtown hab (actually the tail didn't know)>the next day he negotiates with the enforcers for a raid>everything goes to shit from the getgo, the enforcers ignore requests to be covert in the buildup and go all out with barricades and a heavy presence>the acolytes watch as the storming team, two squads in all, go in and immediately run into a prepared defence taking casualties and retreating>Danicus orders a second go then leads the Acolytes in infiltrating the warehouse from the flank

Possibly uneasy alliance with the Necrons to get rid of it.
>>98723830A sword is the obvious one. Having a button to electrify the end would be fun too. Many canes are basically gun shaped and cane guns are a thing irl, with futuristic technology they could be much more effective, a lasgun cane sounds pretty reasonable. Also remember that a normal cane is already not a terrible weapon against human scale enemies, especially if you add weights to the inside of it.

How do people in the Imperium recognize authorities? I know the Rosette for Inquisitors has a lot of built in tech stuff, and it's easy to imagine for the cogboys and for the more intimate organizations like the Space Marines, but like how about the Militarum, mainly, is my question? Like if some charlatan shows up in fancy clothing and knows how to sell the swagger, what's to stop them from saying "hey so I'm Lord General Tim the Mighty and you've been deployed to this other front, over there"? Who would gainsay them and how?
>>98729315People only have authority if others grant them that. If he tries to bullshit someone but it doesn't work because he doesn't have the right authorizations to the appropriate people (like whoever is controlling transport or logistics) then it falls apart. Such authority is also pretty jealous (or some other word. Brain cannot right now) of its own power and anybody flaunting authority in their name better be able to actually be of them or get put on the shit list fast.
>>98729315Paperwork.There is endless paperwork & bureaucracy in the Imperium & if you do t have all the right papers & seals (in triplicate!!!) well... you better figure something out.
>>98729315>>98729351To add on to my rambling, an inquisitor has a fuckload of authority on paper, but if they cannot back it up then they're just a well-equipped random (with psychic powers if they're a psyker). An inquisitor could take command of an entire planet but if they don't have the retinue or ship in orbit, then they can be politely told to fuck off or unpolitely shot by the planetary governor's guards. Same deal with a rogue trader. If they don't have the name, the ship, the crew, or anything else that can back up what they say they are, then are they really a rogue trader?Authority can be granted, earned, coerced, or forced and the latter two make said authority very fragile since it can fall out of you at any moment. What authority you say you have means little, what authority others say you have makes it matter.
>>98729315>>98729351>>98729360>>98729433Remember you talk about the Imperium of Man; the mentality is alien to us in terms of submission to authority. Granted force is always required, violence solves everythying, but a single Inquisitor can use scalpel pressure to gain a planet under his command, he doe snot need ot explain his reasons to every bureaucrat present, just the one on top.
>>98726625I give Abherrants unnatural strength and toughness x2 and natural armour 2 plus the extra arm trait as a baseline with a ws of 38 but a bs of 26. So they are bad shots but nasty in close combat.
>>98729488>>98729433He didnt ask for Inquisitors. He asked for Bob the General
>>98728614They are ultragay just like the book they came out of.
>>98730127Yeah. Like I'm thinking what's to stop a Rogue Trader or even just a clever pirate - or Gue'vesa - from showing up, claiming to be a general, and leaving with a IG regiment who happily think they are still following legit orders.

>>98730655Astropaths can communicate about anything anyone important cares about. If you show up asking the governor for an army he's going to check you're the guy that's supposed to be taking his army.

So a little while back I finally browbeat my GM enough and worked my ass off for a warp saturated chordclaw integrated weapon. Now my trusty hot shot las pistol is looking rather mundane and im wondering what would be a nice upgrade to work towards? I have a Webber too which is nice for bagman jobs but id like to have a lethal ranged option that I can use in one hand that either does something interesting or hits a little harder/is more versatile than a hot shot las pistol. Also, does anyone have strong opinions on mechadendrites? I just have an optical one and wanted to know if you guys recommend any of them over the other? I dont want a medical one, im not the healer.
>>98730783>chordclaw>hotshot lasgun, nice upgrade to work towardsAssuming this is FFG, if you're admech, maybe a phosphor or volkite weapon. phosphor will boost your allies' ballistic skill if you hit, while a volkite gets extra hits from deflagrate if you damage the enemy. If this is WanG, then I don't know, probably a plasma gun.>mechadendritesBallistic mechadendrite is great because of how powerful reaction attacks are in the FFG system.

Each of us have taken upon ourselves to talk to different people of importance. We dont want to favor any side too much but it might come to that
>>98728821What in your eyes makes them quaint?
>>98732781Like, you know how in the old days all we had was a vague idea of "tech guard" and so people converted guardsmen with cybernetics and used mainly IG stuff but painted red. Crimson Guard were similar, really augmented guard, with some of the best wargear in the game (at the time), even if the class itself wasn't top tier. Compared to the utterly crazy shit GW turned the admech into, crimson guard just feel like a nostalgic reminder of the old days.
>>98730888>If this is WanG, then I don't knowI do. Gamma pistol, for the 1 or 2 WANG players here. >>98730888>because of how powerful reaction attacks are in the FFG systemWhy, because enemies can't dodge them? If you play with that rule, you can just Delay and Overwatch and only ever attack during the enemies' turns, you know.
>>98735950Yes, I agree completely. That is why our GM is very stringent with Overwatch conditions, otherwise we could just say "Overwatch, condition: the enemy attacks" and then the enemy would do the same to us with "Overwatch, condition: the target's initiative triggers" and then combat collapses. It's also why classes that get reaction attacks in homebrews tend to have so many restrictions, like "only triggers when charged".

I've been using Disciples of the Dark Gods and Black Crusade for certain psychic powers just to give some 'pop' for higher ranking cultists and such. In this case, it was me doing my best to back-port a weaker version of Bolt of Change, deliberately weaker in that the person that used it on her was doing it via a ritual for distance and a proxy; a dominated thrall granted the power of being effectively a psychic suicide bomber, sent to cast one power through it and then almost certainly be gunned down.I'm aware that might not be entirely within the standard rules but I'm trying to give my players a game they enjoy and they specifically commented after the half-session last week for the psychic interrogation "hopefully this doesn't backfire on us since we heard the psyker speaking in someone else's voice" which felt like it was practically setting up that something had noticed them even without me already doing a roll in the background.

>>98736503Oh I didn't take it as an accusation! Just acknowledging that it was homebrew and fiat in the end. Personally I'm enjoying the anticipation of seeing how they feel when they resume at the start of next session and instantly both their psyker and a random homeless bum in the spaceport are both convulsing on the ground.

While other teams secured warehouses, trade nodes, security checkpoints, and so on, the Operatives needed to claim the dockyards' Air Traffic Control complex that handled incoming voidships. However, they used heavy explosive weaponry and grenades to storm the place, and the building collapsed from the sheer collateral damage while they were still inside. How long does an average Gene stealer cult in a hive city take to go from its first infection to its uprising? How many years does it take to build up an army?
>>98740842Genestealer cults are measured in generations, not years, so hundreds of years.
Is there any reason you can't have a sector-wide genestealer cult? I want the big bads in a Dark Heresy campaign I'm running soon to be such a thing. The idea being they're planning to infiltrate a lot of the sector and then bring it all down at once so that the hive fleet has a buffet to pick from instead of a single meal. And also so that the Imperium can't reinforce or help much since so many different revolts at once.My main question is how they would communicate. Like what's the range on a broodmind? Is there a reason the same broodmind can't function across planets? Or perhaps the cult has its own astropath-magi?

I remember years ago reading in some Halo novel that Spartans have a hard time dealing with long periods of downtime because they were trained for constant missions of extreme difficulty. Do Space Marines have that issue? Do they have hard time if they go weeks without battle?
>>98743377I think it varies on the chapter. Some absolutely would, others have enough humanity/social lives that they would be much like modern soldiers in that respect, and others would be ascetic enough that they likely spend most time not fighting doing meditation, whatever secular rituals they have to Jimmy Space, etc. What chapter(s) were you thinking of.
>>98743010Solaris Expanse is Shas' homebrew sector and does not adhere to typical 40k-isms. You presumably could instantly forge whole starships from subatomic particles in the heyday of the DAOT, but much has been forgotten, never to be relearned.
>>98743377They have to spend weeks in warp space travelling from battle to battle, so no. If anything their limited, ritualised lives and brainwashing probably make them less prone to going stir-crazy.It's eversors that explode if they have to sit down.
So two questions, speaking of nomenclature earlier in the thread.1. Do Skitarii legions have names? Like the Martian Dragoons or whatever? Think how IG Regiments are.2. Do we have a list anywhere of various Imperial and Cogboy names for building types? Like how a spaceport is a voidport, factories are manufactoria, etc. In particular what would the cogboys call a nuclear power plant?
>>98743461>what would the cogboys call a nuclear power plant?Primitive garbage. The Imperium uses plasma generators.

>>98746902GW used to be rules first, then models, and used to put all sorts of fun things in the codexes, including units like tervigons and heroes like the Doom of Malan'tai that didn't have models yet. The intent was to convert them yourself while GW made model for them in the future. Well, Chapterhouse Models started making models for them, outright called them "tervigons" and "Doom of Malan'tai." GW sued chapterhouse over IP grounds...and lost. The judge declared that since GW didn't make the model, they have no right to say what it actually looks like. GW then removed all non-model units from its codex, killed off all non-model characters in Black Library books, and repurposed in the works characters into official models (Inquisitor Valeria became Greyfax, the Doom of Malan'tai became the Neurothrope, etc). From then on, to kill the secondary market, GW made a strict policy of model first, then rules. They also mandated that any art and secondary material MUST represent a model. Chapterhouse scarred GW so deeply that they would never be the same again.

I thought that was kind of a bullshit ruling. My memory of the whole thing was that everybody involved (except GW's lawyers) walked away feeling like they'd gotten fucked. So goes the legal system. Many such cases.>>98747666In case you were wondering, Satan, that's also why GW started changing the names of things to the faggy new ones that pissed all the grogs off. It turns out that you can't patent "space marine" or "imperial guardsman". Until that court case GW had relied on scary-looking C&D letters to scare smaller companies into line, but I don't think that anyone thought that it would hold up in court, not even GW. That trick worked for as long as it did because nobody wanted to front the money to test it.
>>98748187>it turned out that they could prevent you from selling female guardsman heads (which is something that GW was not making at the time). I thought that was kind of a bullshit ruling. The issue was they were advertising them as Imperial Guard heads. If they were "future soldier heads" or something it would have been fine.

If a character takes Dark Secret and gains 20 corruption, do they also roll on the mutation chart?
>>98750159Dang, imagine being a literal veteran of the Horus Heresy. Those fuckers must be absolutely cracked.
>>98751366Unless I’m misremembering, during character creation you only roll on the chart if told explicitly to. The corruption threshold rule only kicks in after character creation is complete.
>>98750159>>98751619The problem is time isn't linear in the Warp. So you have veterans of the long war for whom it was only a few hundred years, some for whom it was millions of years, some who died but their past self came back, some who erased themselves from existence. So there are infinity veterans of the Long War because the Warp is magic.
>>98751634I can't remember any rule exempting you from mutation during character creation.

>>98752332If your GM will let you do that without sodomizing you with a lamp post, you could already do that just by picking the Tainted and Tainted Environs background options. That'll be a lot faster than rolling for corruption points over and over again until you get enough to mutate.

>>98743010>What's an assembler vat? You can just 3d-print a starship?Yeah, an assembler vat is a xenotech 3d printer that, when given a pattern, can basically print anything from weapons to starships. With an assembler vat, weapons take seconds to assemble, and a voidship takes a day or so. The only assembler vats the Imperium is able to use are located on an Old Slann megastructure, and even then, they're not quite easy to deal with. While there is a dedicated Mechanicum Demesne that has void yards and forges, and most of the weird patterns come from there, the assembler vats allow rapid prototyping of said patterns, and are some of the few things allowing the Imperium to keep parity against the Old Slann and Necrons in the Solaris Expanse, since they don't have the numbers for a stand-up fight. I won't lie, I copied a lot of forerunner stuff from halo into my stuff because I thought it was cool. I also thought that scene in Tron where they 3d printed stuff into reality was sick, even though the movie itself was only mediocre, so I adapted it as well. I think GW is also getting in on it, as I believe you can sort of make an argument over whether or not Votanni AN.vyl fabricators are 3d printers. Even if they aren't, I still think it's a fun thing to bring into 40k, tech they never could have conceptualized in the 80s changing the playing field of 'modern' 40k.
>>98748976Chaos warbands tend to recruit. Those that don't, die.
Of course the meme answer is "all of them", but realistically, what's the average amount of bionics and cyber the average player gets? Do you guys try to become combat/physical monsters? Walking weapons platforms? Focus on survivability? Or do you go all in on brainwave or mechadendrites?

Where the hell do they take Space Marine Librarians from?I mean, a nascent psyker needs to be sent to a Black Ship and then to Terra and undertake the whole sanctioning process to be anywhere close to stable, right? So he can't be on his recruiting world to undertake the trials and whatnot and actually join the chapter. And by the time he's done with the whole trip to Terra and sanctioning he's probably too old to go back and go through the whole marinating process anyway. So how the hell does that work?Do chapters do their own sanctioning at home somehow?Do Librarians only come from Astartes who got their psychic awakening after they've already became fully fledged Space Marines? Are psychically gifted aspirants uniqually allowed to start their training at an older age, after they've already been sanctioned?Do guys at Scholastia Psykana sometimes look at a freshly sanctioned guy and go "hey, this guy looks pretty tough and is still quite young, let's send him back to his homeworld so that his local SM chapter can give him a shot"?
>>98756205>So how the hell does that work?A lot of handwaving but it's more likely they have way to sanction someone in the fringes but only after they had enough augmentations to survive the process.

>>98758276Used to shit on that, but I came to appreciate them. Vast majority of stuff I run is still purely my own, but some premade modules actually do have really nice concepts or ideas and there's a certain unique kind of fun in reading them first and then finding out how your group would tackle them. Also I tend to run a few campaigns at once, so in busy periods it helps if one of them is at least partially premade and requires less prep. That being said, basically every premade module I've read, even the very good ones, still required a significant amount of changes and extra fleshing out before I'd consider it genuinely good to run, I would never just run them straight out of the book. Would a high ranking Inquisitor with a lot of archival access (let's say he's a very scholarly Inquisitor, but not an Inquisitor Lord) know about the Blood Angels' Flaw and curse? e.g, Red Thirst, Black Rage, and the quest to fix it? All the dark rumours, etc. There's bits of lore here and there that say they know about the Sanguinor and are spooked by it as a potential warp apparition and corruption. What's the best 40k rpg in (You)r opinion?>>98748854Luckily HH has somewhat adequate models for the cogboys.
>>98759599Its the sexual harassment that honestly is most surprising of that.
>>98759643Conceptually, Rogue Trader. Ruleswise, I think either Black Crusade or DH2e.
>>98759682Sky Captain kept trying to do Put Your Backs Into It with Charm. He kept failing by 5+ Degrees of Failure. The bridge bunnies as a result kept telling him to not say such inappropriate things, and the engineer said he was going full Brannigan. The ships, on the other hand, worked flawlessly. They got surprised by the Galleass's aft-mounted weapons. They also laughed when they saw the escort was firing rockets, which quickly turned to worry when the fusion rockets from the rocket launcher chunked their ship for like 20 hull integrity. It was as if they were divinely ordained to hit.
>>98758298I wouldn't say its 100% verboten. The Sisters have the Repentia after all. The way I see it, shes put a bomb collar on him & keep him on a very very short leash with the idea that his death will serve the Emperor. So she could offer him a very limited way to serve the Emperor under her supervision, any deviation from orders & he gets a bullet & at the end of service he will still get a bullet, but perhaps the Emperor might take mercy on him in death.
>>98759643DH2 character creation & a few other things, but with Liber everything else, i like the backgrounds options to help flesh out a character. I dont like Liber restricting backgrounds, & i really dislike them expanding Admech into knock off psykers with their own subsystem. Theres maybe a few other houserules tacked inbetween the two that I use to make everything balance out
>>98759643Rogue Trader with combat rules from BC/OWBut it's a tough competition, I love running all of the FFG RPGs really
>>98759599The idea of a Tau committing sexual harassment is way funnier than it should be.
Do admech have sex? Does anyone in the Imperium besides Caiphas Cain have sex? Im not trying to goon, but I feel like especially given how grim & dark & perilous the 40k setting is, we would get more stories of Guardsmen having Enemy at the Gates style sex in the trenches, or scummy delinquent baby daddies in the Hives, etc. All we ever really see of the Imperium is the grind. Particularly the admech are so piheonholed as a concept. Theres got to be factory serfs who go about their normal days working in the manufactorums & then they spend their 2 hour recreational time fucking like rabbits because theres not much else to do. Or a Biologis who runs human breeding programs. Or just an admech who things the flesh is weak but the dick is hard so he decides to keep it instead of replacing it with a digi-Melta. Idk, what's your guys' opinion? How much romance , sex is there in the Imperium? Or in the admech?
>>98758488I'd assume they would basically know nothing about the red thirst and black rage save for after action reports on cases where blood angels or their decedents started munching on whatever they were killing.
>>98760671GW have been trying to kill Slaanesh for decades specifically because sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll are not copacetic with their goal of widening the target audience as much as humanly possible. It cuts off the middle-class white moms and their kids demographic, don't'cha know.
What if a Space Marine comes across another chapter in the course of their duties and that new chapter seems a lot cooler than their own chapter? Can they change chapters? Is there like a transfer process for Marines who want to swap chapters?
>>98761104Im saying that there's so much repressed British duty to the throne & nothing else that I cant see stuff like Starship Troopers Rico & Diz romance let alone anything else. And that was way back when they let Slaaneshi daemons get their tits out. So many factions in the Imperium are basically celibate or castrated that I wonder how they even keep their population up. Its less that I want blatant sex, like I said im not a sooner, but its hard to see any romance in the setting for RPG material. Theres no yearning
>>98761864>so much repressed British duty to the throne & nothing else40k is inherently bri'ish, it's not 40k anymore if you remove these elements
How do Assassins work, exactly? Like what I mean is, are they all stationed on Terra awaiting deployment, and only ever found outside Terra when 'on the clock'? Or do they have training schools and facilities outside of Terra?
>>98748535>greatest wealth of content>3e cut incredible amounts of content from 2e>4e had the least amount of content than all editions before or since>entire armies got NO 4e codexThis is the exact faggotry I was referring to.
>>98762878They have hidden death cult temples all over the galaxy & some really important ones on Terra if I recall correctly. Sort of like hidden ninja villages
>>98763038Officio Assassinorum? Talking 'proper' assassins, not death cults or random 'will kill for money' people.
>>98763051Did you try reading the wiki? It says they have training bases on Terra & they post dudes all across the galaxy. The eversor temple is unknown & keeps their guys in cryo
>>98762878Off the top of my heads Culexus have their temple in the Eastern Fringe, Eversors are frozen and stashed throughout the galaxy.
>>98763130Cram it, POOFTER!
In dark heresy 1, are there any books besides core that give options like homeworlds?
>>98763187Im gonna cram it up your tailpipe retard
>>98761413>Can they change chapters? Is there like a transfer process for Marines who want to swap chapters? The closest you'll get is the Deathwatch.
>>98763636There was a White Scar who was disappointed he didn't get to join the Luna Wolves in the Horus Heresy. But don't you worry! The mind control set him right.
Why do 40KRPG GMs always give out powerful weapons and stuff as loot, but seem terrified to let me have the simplest implant?
>>98763357O I am laffin
>>98763825This is your GM specifically. I have never experienced this.
>>98759599Imagine sexual harrassment from a blue lanklet lmao
>>98764102I have experienced it with like ten different GMs.
>>98764153If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.
>>98763191Inquisitor's Handbook has tonnes of stuff. Blood of Martyrs also has a decent amount. Book of Judgment, Radical's Handbook, Daemon Hunter and Lathe Worlds all have some alternative backgrounds and/or Career Ranks
>>98764195I'm not saying they're assholes, I'm just saying they seem to be terrified of bionics.
Speaking of assassins; do they only do what the name implies, or do they also sometimes serve as general spies? Because, like, obviously a Callidus Assassin would be an enormous asset to have as a deep cover spy in an enemy organization, even if you don't have a specific target for her. Do they ever just tell one like 'hey, here's a fake identity for you, go hang out in the T'au Empire/Alpha Legion/Craftworld/Chaos Warband/Whatever, and let us know what's up?"
>>98764279Name the system and elaborate on how exactly this tends to manifest.
>>98760671>we would get more stories of Guardsmen having Enemy at the Gates style sex in the trenchesLiterally in the Cain books they mention how it's an issue for his regiment of the soldiers fucking too much and getting pregnant. For the average person there is sex and romance and sorrow all in mixed amounts, from anyone and everyone. The only truly sexless, romanceless faction is the chemically castrated Astartes. The Admech might not have sex but they have (a poor understanding of) romance based some books, and other institutions definitely have sex. It's just off screen because GW doesn't want to get their books harder to buy.
>>98763191Inqusitor's Handbook gives Forge Worlds, Noble-Born, Schola and Mind-cleansed origins as well as a ton of background packages or alternate career ranks, though most of them need until rank 4-5 to be taken. Blood of Martyrs also adds Shrine Worlds and Famulous Protoge world origins and the Monastic Upbringing origin that takes stats from an existing world's selection but has its own traits. It also ads alternate career ranks mostly for clerics or Battle Sister but also for Guardsmen in some cases. Lathe Worlds expands on Forge World origins and some alternate career ranks + backgrounds, and Radical's Handbook adds backgrounds and alternate career ranks.
>>98764702A buddy of mine was looking into it the other day and couldn't actually find any source that marines were chemically castrated, just that they were so hypno-indoctrination flashbang'd that they have no effective sex drive, and even that doesn't stop the Space Wolves. Not that this would result in part-marine offspring, on account of the implants being, well, implants. If you want to do a fertility study on gigantism, hypertrophy, osteopetrosis, and whatever other shit gene-implants induce in order to get a scientifically accurate estimate on whether a marine can or cannot actually fuck, I don't think anyone's gonna stop you.
>>98717405You are all my spawn. I feel a paternal urge to protect my minions.
Didn't there used to be these "design a sub-sector" threads here? They don't seem to be around anymore, but what were they, exactly?
A couple dark heresy questions. #1 Am I reading the guardsman role gear list right that you get a lasgun AND bow, musket, or shotgun as starting gear?#2 I found this character gen site and I haven't seen a couple options in it like divination and family background in the books. Is it homebrew or something? https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/dhadvanced.html?
>>98765426I take back the divination question I'm just blind
>>98765426Lasgun AND (bow OR musket OR shotgun).
>>98765514Yeah that's what I meant. So you're essentially getting a lasgun and a whole other main gun?
>>98765591Yeah.
Are there any good ways to gain the Phasic Trait?
>>98765591>So you're essentially getting a lasgun and a whole other main gun? They're not good weapons.
>>98765591Or a bow
Can someone explain to me how I am supposed to formulate how hard something is to aquire in Liber Imperium? It makes no sense to me. Some times it talks about influence, sometimes Profit Factor. How would you buy an archeotech piece?
>>98765426Yes, the comas are used to seperate the items and options.>>98765854Still top reliable, nigh infinite ammo, and yes compared to the fully kitted autogun, they're not that good. I'd got with that lascarabine with full auto option instead, plus it is recognised as a lasgun for pros
Is it possible to turn someone into a Psyker a Blank through gene therapy?
>>98766444no
>>98766444There are forbidden technologies that can grant a fraction of psyker's abilities.
>>98766085The weapon for chads is a long-las or hunting rifle.
>>98766444If by gene therapy, you mean pushing someone in a vat of glowing green goo and hoping for the best, then yes, that can turn you into a psyker. Blank though? No.
Last Creative Writing Class:Crackolytes continue to track Blasphemy Zero after having theologically and physically dunked on a Logician.Next area is a huge glowing lake of "don't fall in it" water, with some mutants on a boat that wave us hi.The mutants are Jaws'd by a Pit Thing that comes from under the water and snatches them and their dingy. Could this be the Pit these Things come from? The next challenge in our path is a very flimsy bridge made of plasteel sheets and scrap over this lake. We find out Callidia is the fattest fuck of all the crackolytes, even heavier than Galen.170cm, 80kg, 40kg of Power Armour and another 40kg worth of guns. This bitch needs a diet.>the bridge creaks ominously once you step on it, Callidia. The crackolytes space themselves to spread the weight, while shrimp-like creatures circle around the water (gm used the Metro Last Light shrimps as tokens). Psyker uses his cheat skill to learn these shrimp are violent and territorial, the Pit Thing probably got them riled up.Callidia uses Trade (Cooking) to figure these are probably good eating, and the source of food of the loacl mutants. At least as "good" as it comes so deep down in the underhive they're touching the planet's actual soil. It sure beats the 'profein' from the recyk tanks up above. The shrimp decide they want to get fried. Callidia fries one to perfection using autofire from her laspistols. Galen grills a kebab one by stabbing with power sword, Cellanus does much of the same while Fenria slices and dices.Yummers.The crackolytes continue onto the bridge, until Fenria notices some of the shrimp disappear. And we all notice the Pit Thing emerge.Callidia 100% notices and makes sure Fenria knows she noticed, when Fenria failed an acrobatics check so badly on an 100, that she just tripped and felll on her face like that pepe image. At least she failed so bad she didn't even manage to fall in the water.
>>98767183Callidia notices that and makes sure Fenria knows she did. Her turn comes and she blows the Pit Thing's shit smoove off with full semi auto from her bolt pistols.I love bolt pistols. I love them even more now that we have the budget to afford using them.Next step is getting extended clips on them and a wire coat hanger to make them capable of autofire.Pit Thing dies where it stands. We move along, not too far from the lake wew find a quaint settlement of MUTANTS, but these MUTANTS have many paintings of Big E all over. Even if they're a little odd, but its a miracle these wreteches even managed to make those. The mutants are all pale, blemished and a bunch of them have a third arm. But that's a common mutation like a sixth or seventh finger. We meet a dude named Hope, get a cool set of Superior Charm beads from him and Psyniscience checks says we should accept the gift. This Hope fella is pretty alright, he even thanks the Inquisition showing up to clean things out. We tell them there's fresh shrimp by the lake and they guide us to the Church where Blasphemy Zero is nested. At the church we get a soulslike boss introduction when B-0 shows up, seething like an American Boomer who's lawn we stepped on. It's humongous, meaning easier to shoot, but we're experient enough to know it might oneshot any of us if it lands a hit.Callidia says a prayer for [ The Passion ], with her Palatine Miracleworker talent that lets her use one Faith Talent with the burn effects per session. Everyone gets Unnatural Agility 3x that affects move, Fenria becomes super sonic. We even all get to roll Initiative twice and pick the highest, all going before B-0. While for Fenria, even gm just accepted she goes first, faith talent or not.
>>98767331Fenria stabs it for real good damage.>zero woundsGalen stabs it many times for his average of 20+ damage>zero woundsCallidia max damage rolls bolt pistols, with a fury even>zero woundsCellanus gets ballsy in this weakened veil and shoots unfetttered biolightning>zero woundsWe might have a problem since this gigamonster might have stupid bullshit high Toughness, I think i'll have to let Fenria borrow my evil ass c'tan dagger.Galen blocks a claw attack with his shield and if not for the energy field on it, it would have gone clean through.Next round rolls up and Fenria aces an awareness check, she notices a particular gourget embedded in the mass of B-0. A videogame weakspot, perhaps? She goes for it and once she destroys it, B-0 loses all steam and starts crumbling down.Note: Beast House had said they killed it a few times but it somehow got better. Clearly they missed this weakspot, and they don't have the finest Emperor's retards like us.B-0 crumbles and flops, wriggling with lots of the huge red worms crawling away, we move quickly to stomp everything. Either it or one of the worms starts the death exposition, saying something about the beads, something about Hope and the settlement.Something about not believing them? They're not what they seem? A cult?A super fail on Logic test keeps Callidia nice and intolerant, this monster is just spitting nonsense. Melta and flamer it into nothingness so our job is done. Then Hope walks in, calm and nonchalant, thanking us for getting rid of B-0. At this point OOC I had figured out the twist and had to seethe quietly and not metagame.David says to not worry, and that B-0 isn't his father (there was a brief mention of his father at the camp, who made the beads and had gone missing. B-0 also recognized the beads on Callidia)"We never mentioned a father." Points out Fenria."You didn't? Shame."The reward for tolerance is betrayal.
>>98767383While this was going on, the psyker was freaking out and forced to run into a corner. Given at this point we all have [ Fearless ], it was some evil psychic presence suprressing him down.A broodlord drops from the ceiling, making us all enfatuated. It's over.Or is it?David's head explodes in a fantastical way, as if it was shot by an Exitus Rifle *wink wink*. That startles the broodlord who runs away instead, leaving us only lightly mindmolested, instead of fully mindraped.Session ended.Truly the Emperor Protects, and saved us from bad ending tpk. AND THE TWIST! WE FOUND OUR FIRST GENESTEALER CULT AND JUST KILLED THE ONE THING THAT WAS KEEPING THEM IN CHECK AHAHAHAHHAHAH.All the mutants here at this level are pretty much genestealers, we're walking back into that settlement and killing everything next time.
>>98766444You can always snort (or however you use it) some Spook and hope you'll get lucky.Spoiler alert: You won't.
>Open up dark heresy vehicles pdf>No regular ground cars or costs for any vehicles
>>98717065You quite literally cannot put a price on that. Noone would sell if if they had it, and if they did they wouldn't want something as paltry as "money". They would probably want something actually valuable like a political alliance between two warring houses or a planet.
>>98767990Which one is that?
So if grav weapons are more effective on large/armored targets, how effective are they on smaller, unarmored targets?
>>98768988Why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?
My Rogue Trader party has found a ship component that the Explorator believes is capable of calculating warp journeys without a navigator (like, almost as well as one). According to his lore roll, the Mechanicus will give just about anything we want for it, although the GM rolled lore secretly, so we may be about to get fucked. Anyway, we hid the thing from the navigator, and we are about to meet with an arch-magos to discuss the trade. What would you ask for in return?
>>98769395If you go by the lore, a Void Abacus means the Navigator's Guild will send Infinity+1 guys at you to destroy you via fiat. Get rid of it as soon as possible, and don't let what happened to us happened to you.
Culturally, how do fighter/attack craft pilots and crews work in the Imperial Navy? Like by and large the Navy is the Age of Sail British Navy... In Spaaaaace but obviously you don't really have an equivalent to fighter planes in that. Are they nobs like the officers on the capital ships? Do the crews see them as like the serfs and basically just slightly more eloquent servitors? Or are they glamorous like WW1 fighter pilots
>>98769395More ships
>>98769886WW1/WW2 pilots is probably your best bet but also remember that void starfighters have a crew of 4 or more.
>>98769933This, always remember that while most of real 40k void combat is age of sail, carriers are WW1 / Interwar style because historically carriers killed naval combat, and 40k bends the rules of reality to make strike craft bad so the age of sail vibe can take precedence.
>>98768988Grav weapons ignore armor, so they just have infinite penetration, they damage everything the exact same way. Which can be really good if there are rider abilities on the damage, like if youre using IM you can modify the weapon to inflict any condition, like Incapacitated. This would knock out anyone hit by the grav weapon.
Goge Vandire was right.
>>98770219If you add a little wooden board to hold a big sermon book that would make a great lectern. Im gonna have my party encounter a SoB like this
>>98768919This book. I don't actually know where I got it, just that it was in my DH folder
>>98769395Discounted repairs for life? A bitchin' mansion on a moon? A moon/territory in general?
>>98769596Storytime?
>>98771009That is a homebrew. Anyway, 2e core does have a car.
>>98770219What must one do to warrant this kind of punishment (?)
>>98771128Being prettier than the abbess
>>98771128Seems fairly light as a punishment. Mispronounced some hymns, wasn't on the Abbess' time, untidy hab, etc.
>>98769395So what you have will cause the extinction of Navigator houses if it's proliferated. This makes it both a holy grail and a live hand grenade. You're going to use the highest opsec you possibly can, and in return for this item you're going to demand that it is proliferated as far and as fast as it possibly can be, with EXTREME secrecy, until it would take knocking over half a Segmentum to kill it. For payment, you are going to ask for a fraction of a percent of the proceeds, free installation and maintenance on your dynasty's ships in perpetuity, and probably both Peer and Good Reputation for Admech. They can embezzle a decent lump sum into your coffers by providing services at bargain prices over the next five years, which you can mechanically leverage into 5-10 Profit Factor.Your highest priority is the proliferation of this knowledge. Your second highest priority is getting away with it.
>>98771046It's really wasn't something enjoyable. We managed to acquire one by commerce and acquisition test, and the GM didn't like it. Suddenly as if by magic, all our holdings were hit at once. All our contacts refused to work with us. Our crews started abandoning us. Our profit factor draining faster and faster and there was nothing we could do to staunch the bleeding. This caused the game to die, and the GM shrugged and told us to learn the lore. Nobody was happy with it. We did kick that guy but none of us at the table will ever touch a void abacus again.
>>98771812Oh, preferential data from explorator fleets too. Nothing better than knowing the exact places to hit to get first go at a mining colony, juvenat source, rediscovered human world, or exotic flora/fauna.>>98771832What a piece of shit. If he actually gave a damn about lore he'd have told you flat out "your characters would know that this will make you some enemies, you may want to reconsider, or be sneakier about it." This just smells like an excuse to slap players.
Whats the most able ship I can make with as few extra "named" crew as possible?Like you take the servitor crew option, and a void abacus, but what other positions can you basically get rid off while still having a workable ship?I was thinking a lone admech explorator guy goin mad all on his lonesome crewing a ship of the dawned with forced conscription into servitors
>>98771970Bare minimum requirements are a Navigator. Theoretically you could have literally just a navigator and a pile of servitors.
>>98771812I guess, but asking for money is so undramatic. Plus, what if it takes them a hundred years to reverse-engineer this thing, or what if they fail altogether? I know for a fact my GM is gonna roll for it, because he rolls for every little thing.
>>98771832That sucks, but since our GM gave one to us (possibly to test the navigator player, see if he could be made to give a shit about anything) I don't think that's gonna happen. It's also not a regular void abacus, it's something much more potent.
>>98772296>It's also not a regular void abacus, it's something much more potent.Chances are the secret ingredient is daemons
>Void Abacus>Warp Saturated Archeotech Markov-1 Warp Drive>Tempermental Warp Engine Quirk>Best Starchart Collection>Temple Shrine to the God Emperor>Warpbane Gellar ShieldsNo Navigator needed, & I showed up yesterday. Honestly this sounds like a really fun ship
>>98767183>>98767331>>98767383>>98767427Thanks for the story and good luck with the purging next session. Watch out for the pit things because those are probably also infected with the GS.
>>98773691>>98773691>>98773691new bread
>>98771970If you're okay with an extremely small ship, one of the Deathwatch sourcebooks had an Inquisitorial micro-ship that's warp capable and has only like a dozen people on board or so. They are very rare and only really useful for espionage and dropping off an agent somewhere covertly, but they do exist
>>98767427Fuck mutants, all of em
