>Void Abacus>Warp Saturated Archeotech Markov-1 Warp Drive>Tempermental Warp Engine Quirk>Best Starchart Collection>Temple Shrine to the God Emperor>Warpbane Gellar ShieldsReposting from last thread. This set up should give you a great bonus to warp navigation & youd always be showing up basically instantly or even 1d5 days early, I was thinking it would be useful for a Rogue Trader to always out perform the market basically using the Biff's Almanac method, or an Inquisitor to show up BEFORE trouble starts. Navigator Houses might want to kill you though.
>>98773691>What kind of parallels do you make between positive things in our current time that are negative in the grim darkness of the far future, like the idea of technological progression? That shit tends to be set to the side since my group isn't all that comfortable with playing people who treat their lessers as furniture like how slaves/menials can be better to death and that's the equivalent of punching a hole in drywall.
I'll admit to being a secondary so, my question is are there female Tempetus Scions? Shouldn't any female in the scholarship whatever it's called be directed towards like Sororitas, or minostrum?
>>98716875>What is a small local colloquialism or slang term in your sector?I like this question. Low level Mechanicus acolytes are derogatorily referred to as 'cog polishers' by higher ranking members and many others who consider themselves above such people.
>>98774016When talking about hives, our GM used the terms plaza (for spires), waistworks (for the middle residential/industrial core), canalworks (for the sewer systems) and underworks (for the deepest levels and foundations). I discovered later these were what morrowind used for its hives, which they called cantons.
>>98774104Cool. I like personalised districts in hive cities.
>>98774016In the spirit of 40k jargon you could also add highfalutin names to basic bitch coyboy jobs*Unguent Technician (Changes oil)*Marine Ceramics Maintenance Technician (Dishwasher)*Lux Administrator (holds the flashlight)
>>98773958There are and you even see them in the killteam trailer for the aquillon scions.https://youtu.be/KiloZsV815g?is=OUJuYim0bSdH4vyl
>>98773958>I'll admit to being a secondary so, my question is are there female Tempetus Scions?ask the better question, do you want there to be?
>>98774219That feels more current day than 40k to me, but if you want to add HR bureaucracy to the general nightmare of 40k, who am I to stop you. I like to come up with mystical names for mundane things, if I can. Not many come to mind right now, but I once made an administratum statistician whose job title was 'arithmancer' (arithmancy being divination through numbers).
>>98773958>Shouldn't any female in the scholarship whatever it's called be directed towards like Sororitas, or minostrum? No, women in the scholastica have always been spread out among all its branches.
>>98773819>Warp SaturatedMaybe it's just because it's been a while, but what book is that from? I don't recall there being any component quirks.
>>98773958Scion mentality and sorotias mentality are two very different states of being.
>>98774354Liber Imperium, its an archeotech option. If its applied to a warp drive it always makes safe and short warp jumps. So then you add in some warp travel bonuses to guarantee (ish) success on the roll, and some other stuff to shorten the time to effectively zero. You can also have the Tempermental Warp Engine ship quirk thats in Rogue Trader and was copied into Liber Imperium that either makes the trip a few weeks late or a few weeks early. Since youve effectively counteracted the delay with starcharts & such, you now have two speeds for arriving; either tomorrow or two weeks ago.I just like trying with this kind of stuff. Call it theorycrafting/whiteboard scenarioing if you must, but I think it would be an interesting ship for the PCs to have or to encounter.Heck, you could even base a campaign off of the idea. A Ordo Chronus Inquisitor has a ship that slowly travels backwards in time for the most part, so hes gonna try to work backwards towards some big event & has grabbed the PCs to be his disposable Acolytes over the years
>>98774405I imagine it would be a neat game where the Inquisition is demanding for them to hand that shit over every jump.
Do Assassins - as in capital 'A' Officio Assasinorum assassins - ever get missions besides the obvious assassination stuff? Mainly thinking of Callidus and Vanus because obviously both have skillsets that lend themselves just as well to espionage and spying as they do sabotage and assassination. Like does some Callidus ever get sent to just go live deep cover among the T'au or whoever and send regular reports back?
>>98774508>ever get missions besides the obvious assassination stuff? Not really, that's the job of other branches but it would make sense.
>>98774479Well if theyre part of the Inquisition then its a non problem and if theyre Rogue Traders... Good luck catching me im driving to last week bitch!
>>98774508It'd be more like, "we gotta kill this guy but hes so hard to get to it'll take 10 years if deep cover so good luck learning the language chump
>>98774541Imagine that shit goes for long enough to reach the Horus Heresy or some other major events
How does the leveling/xp system work in dark heresy? I've played only war and a little rogue trader before but they were a little differentIf I'm reading right, I take advances in the current level bracket until I spend enough xp that I can go to the next rank? Is it possible to but talents/skills that aren't in your career list?
>>98774605I was thinking something less huge, like the Badab war or something made up for the purpose. Like start it off & the PCs think its just boilerplate 40k but then slowly youre like "Astronomicon what?" Legends say it used to be there but it was long since snuffed out, & theres no more Angels of Death thats just a myth of those who stood against such & such during the Bleak War Campaign (TM) & then the PC start traveling back in time a millenia or two & eventually stop the Bleak War Campaign from happening & return it to normal 40k, or something more minor you invent & its just saving a planet that was destroyed
>>98774508>Like does some Callidus ever get sent to just go live deep cover among the T'au or whoever and send regular reports back? No? That's what other people are for. You can have a callidus as a sleeper before calling them up to perform an action in support of your inquisitorial cell or whatever, but they don't just 'hang around' anywhere. They're much too valuable for that.
>>98774866>If I'm reading right, I take advances in the current level bracket until I spend enough xp that I can go to the next rank?Yes. You can also take stuff from previous ranks>Is it possible to but talents/skills that aren't in your career list?Elite advancesIt sounds like you might have skipped a page or two when reading the career path chapter.
Dumb questionsAre there mega corporations in 40k? It seems like everyone will eventually have to suck off either Mars or Terra so it makes me wonder how much autonomy a high tech megacorp can actually have in the setting
>>98775243Such functions are generally taken over by the concept of noble families but a world could have megacorps as a substitute.
>>98775243There are merchant houses. Remember that 40k has an aristocracy & those are the people who OWN LAND & therefore CREATE INDUSTRY. Not just randos with capital. Everything belongs to the Emperor & the emperor put certain people in charge of overseeing his stuff. Thats how imperial feudalism works. The Admech are a sort of 1st Estate, the Planetary Governors/Noble Houses are 2nd Estate, everyone else is 3rd Estate. Rogue Traders are exempt from kind of everything & just help grease the wheels, the various Adeptii fit into different areas of 1st & 2nd Estate depending on what time period & who is in control at the time.
>>98775267Exactly. A megacorp could exist in a microcosm, but not in the grand scale. Fulgrim ran a megacorp on his homework if I remember correctly
>>98774866Like the other guy already said it's "You can only buy from your current level block until you spend enough XP to get to the next rank, but you can always buy from previous blocks" but also Elite Advances that tend to be more expensive (either 2x the price or flat 500) for things that are outside of your career list or exotics that are purely outside of 99% of them.
>>98775243As the other anon said noble houses and guilds tend to take the place of flat out megacorps in 40k
>>98775327>>98775555Thanks anons, was wondering how'd it work without the blessings of the state
>>98775628It'd work just fine. The imperium at large doesn't give a shit about what goes on in a planet or even a system as long as the tithe is on time and they follow imperial law.
>>98774344>if you want to add HR bureaucracy to the general nightmare of 40kalready present, it's called the Administratum
>>9877493050K adjacent lore... It has been a while since I heard people talk about that. That being said, love the idea.
>>98775243IIRC DH1e had some megacorp-like organisations but they were on the level of importance of a minor noble house.
>>98775628>was wondering how'd it work without the blessings of the stateThe Imperium includes multiple states, usually each world has it's own government, though sometimes they're directly controlled by one Adepta or another, and other times they're very heavily influenced.
>>98774344>That feels more current day than 40kWhy de people get so hung up over this? I've been seeing a lot of comments where 40k has to be "dated" to an extent, not enough to be ubiquitous but enough to see a pattern. we're 40 years past 40k's introduction, so modern things are going to filter in. Other settings like cyberpunk managed to adapt, what makes 40k so different to people?
>>98774541>Good luck catching me im driving to last week bitch! How are you ever going to make money if you keep jumping back to before all your conquests? And interest doesn't accrue backwards.
>>98775809No matter what anyone says, 40k is a vibes-based setting, and facts and logic ends where vibes begin. You can have the most eloquent explanation in the world, but if it doesn't vibe right, it's automatically and inarguably wrong, and instantly dismissed. If you want the clearest example, I look to what shas posted in the previous thread. His stuff is mechanically good, but the vibes are off. You can look at 40k and say "ha ha how retro" and disassociate a little, but then he brought in 3d-printed weapons and starships, drone warfare, and more, and now it suddenly feels...itchy. It's too close to home, it's too REAL. Making something that reflects real life ends up making it less real 40k.
>>98775809It probably has something to do with 40k being a shitpost that grew beyond satire so when they try to play with a more "modern" problem it comes across as bullshit.I'm pretty sure there's more to it like the problem not even making sense in the IoM or something along those lines but... Unless you have a case to point at I'm just guessing about.
>>9877580940k is 80's sci-fi, invented in a time before the internet, where screens have scan lines and primarily show text. The IP has an identity, and I have no idea what kind of smartphone-wielding, boba tea-sipping faggot you would have to be to want to destroy that. I'm not even going to bother explaining to you why the Mechanicus would not care about the egos of menials enough to give them fancy titles. You sound extremely defensive, by the way. Maybe since you like modern things so much, you should ask an AI to rate your ideas, so you won't have to worry about pushback.
>>98775849I just need promissory notes or whatever that dont have exact dates. Or just expensive cargo to barter as I go. And if Im a rogue trader then im only going to be traveling backwards a little bit. Inquisitors can travel back long time frames.>>98775773Thanks
>>98775852>>98775868I see, yes, I get the same feeling with the primaris, making them more modern and it clashes with the silliness of things, but even then, a lot of the silliness is being discarded by new writers who want to modernize the setting, and there's no real way to push back.
>>98775877>Maybe since you like modern things so much, you should ask an AI to rate your ideas, so you won't have to worry about pushback.Did a nerve get hit, grog? Well, you're getting old and cranky, it's understandable. We just have to wait another ten years for the rest of the 80's writers to die. Bryan Ansell is dead. John Blanche is dead. Ian Watson is dead. Rick Priestly is next. The grogs will die too. All we have to do is wait. Even grog-whining can't stop the passage of time.
>>98775877>>98774344I like to add mystical names to things too. But youre being a complete faggot over something like "Lux Administer" & shit being "modern". Jokes about "oil technicians" have been going on since before the goddamn 80's & if you had hair on your nutsack instead of autistically pining for an era you never actually lived through youd know that. The admech are ultimately based on "A Canticle for Leibowitz" which would very much give fancy titles to menials because those menial tasks would slowly turn into hereditary positions of ritualistic knowledge passed on in incomplete ways. The fucking games have a Talent called "Technical Knock" which is just percussive maintenance/i.e. slapping the device, but now has become a thing near to secret knowledge. Just the sequence to turn basic shit on is considered the purview of only the admech. Its nothing BUT inflated importance you dumb fuck.
>>98776006>The fucking games have a Talent called "Technical Knock" which is just percussive maintenanceironically percussive maintenance is its own talent in Lathe Worlds, it's for the lathemasters
>>98775979Hes not a grog. Hes just a bitch. Oldhammer had Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau for Emperor's sake. Silly overvalued titles & hokey names is exactly in the spirit of Oldhammer. If 40k was made today, there would be there would be Inquisitor Grimmes with his Guardsman Knobby Knobs who needs a certificate proving himself not a xenos & other dumb but fun shit
>>98775972The primaries are a whole thing that doesn't really work when you think about it for half a second, just like most of the setting but worse.I don't know what they deal in practice since i haven't bothered with their novels odds are they just handwave every other thing so the game can continue.
>>98776031There's also a lot of British bullshit in there but I don't have enough stab wounds to actually get them.
>>98776091I referenced Discworld books by Terry Pratchett
>>98776087Primaris are just Guilliman bringing back 30k tactics and using PRIMARCH BEAM to rewrite the thought processes of everyone around him to accept it. Remember, his plot armor was so strong that he killed and replaced the High Lords of Terra by PRIMARCH BEAM so nobody could disagree with him.
In the Liber Imperium book, under the Dynasty Creation section, under Contacts, on page 175 it lists the phrase "Reliable Attributes" under a couple of entriesWhat does that mean?
>>98776031The argument wasn't about silly names, you fucking brain donor, it was about whether it's necessary or desirable to introduce modernisms to 40k. Do you want your space yiffs to be playing flappy cherub on their smartvoxes during lunch break, your magi biologis to be cooing over heckin alien pupperinos, or your hive drudges to simp over holo-tubers? Actually, maybe that last one could be a reasonable vector for Slaanesh corruption.
>>98776557Are you fucking retarded? The post chain goes>>98774219 to>>98774344 to>>98776006The conversation literally started with names/titles & the faggot/(you) mentioned modern HR bullshit immediately & a distain for highfilutin titles for menial jobs.
>>98775877You almost had a point there, and then you ruined it. Congrats on astroturfing for the opposition, because you just made your own argument look like ass.
>>98774405>Liber Imperium,The horus heresy rulebook or the fan one? I'm not involved in the fan works community at all.
>>98776679I presume the fan one since the other one isn't an RPG but I've seen strange shit in books before so I figure it's best to ask.
>>98776679I assume the one which is literally just DH, RT, and OW in a trenchcoat. I'd be a lot more inclined to investigate it if it were actually a homebrew document instead of 1200 pages of shit I already have in PDFs. Someone let me know if they ever get around to that.
Can a psyker be a Rouge Trader? If a Rouge Trader had a child that turned out to be a blank or a psyker do they get to go free or are they still required to play by the rules?
>>98776740
>>98776702>>98776684>>98776679The fanbook. I actually figured it out, it was talking about contract traits
>>98776740They need to play by the rules. ITS for RT has 'Witch-born' as a lineage, and the option to get psyker powers is explictly unsanctioned.I don't think it's impossible for a RT to be a legit accepted psyker, but I think it's pretty unlikely. Finding psykers outside an official adepta or the like tends to be them being unsanctioned and illegal.
>>98776772Oh, reading it through again they do have another option that allows them to be sanctioned, but again, they do need to play by the rules in order to get sanctioned in the first place.
Several threads ago I told how in a game a noble woman asked a psyker if he would perform at her child's birthday party. It didn't go anywhere at the time but if it had what could the psyker do? What kind of "party tricks" would be available? I'm thinking if a psyker has the talent to use the warp in combat could he perform magic tricks?
>>98777117Thats like asking an inbred methhead with knife hands to perform tricks... sure they probably have a few interesting things they can do but its definitely NOT normal for them to do that or for the people to invite him. Most people HATE & DISTRUST psykers
>>98777117Telekinesis to move things and telepathy for "what card am I hold" stuff. At fettered it wouldn't be that big of an issue mechanically but it is still a bad idea.
>>98777117
>>98776580>The conversation literally started with names/titles>t. autist who lacks the ability to derive meaning from words
>>98776605>I judge the quality on my argument on how much it hurts my feelingsOpinion noted and dismissed.
>>98777496No, you went completely off the rails because youre an ass clenching faggot who got blown out because how dare someone have bad wrong fun with a few admech titles, you ignorant chucklefuck.
>>98777570You're so defensive I'm starting to think you realize you're wrong.
>>98777499>My angry rant definitely should've convinced people of my rightness, and if it didn't, they were stupid anywayWhatever helps you sleep at night.
>>98773958You would think the Ministorum would 100% abuse the fuck out of the fact they have complete control over the Schola Progenium and can only build their personal army out of one sex. But they don't because uhhhh, they just don't.
>>98778352Something something Slaanesh has a soft monopoly on horny shit and people really can't be bothered to look up historical debauchery in the Catholic Church and other institutions that inspired the IoM.
>>98778352How are you proposing they abuse this system?
whats the Warhammer renaissance of 40k
>>98777645I accept your concession. Now apologize to the thread for wasting their time on your bitch fit.
>>98778641They have an army that can only have female recruits. They also control the system that creates said recruits for them, as well as for everyone else. You're saying they wouldn't be funnelling not just the best recruits, but as many recruits as they can, towards themselves? And don't bring up how the Ordo Hereticus would put a stop to that, they're known to be the most corrupted division and most of their Inquisitors are on AdMin payroll.
>>98778888They do funnel the best recruits into the SoB. But the SoB are their own entity within the Ecclesiarcy as well. They are only going to accept people they want. The rest can go to other factions. There's not exactly a ton of female Inquisitors, Scions, etc.
>>98777193>>98777196>>98777276Mentally and emotionally speaking, what is the difference between a rouge and a sanctioned psyker?
>>98778352Sororitas are basically all volunteer for a reason. They're looking for a very specific type of person. A scion and a SoB are doing two very different things with two very different mental states.>but why don't they just shoehorn them in?golly gee, maybe the fanatic religious drill masters take their religion and it's implications very seriously.>>98778888>And don't bring up how the Ordo Hereticus would put a stop to thatThe entire rest of the Imperium would put a stop to it because they also rely on the Schola. If the ministorum are too open about stacking things in their deck in the schola, then they will either make their own Scholas or wage an internal war.And there are, in fact, already a shitload of Sisters. It's not like they're a small organization.
>>98778888>You're saying they wouldn't be funnelling not just the best recruits, but as many recruits as they can, towards themselves? No, because they can't afford infinite power armour. Life is cheap in the Imperium, and there's no shortage of war orphans.
>>98779754If they run out of power armor, a giant ADB materializes above the monastery, waves his hand, and manifests as many armor sets as the situation required. Thinking about logistics is a fool's errand in 40k, because if you try to go that route, the Imperium would have faltered 10,000 years ago.
So does only house Helmawr get the spyrer rigs, or do the other noble houses have them too?
>>98779526one has been molested into stability by Big E the other hasnt.
>>98778731The snarky response would be "Bolt Action", or possibly "Rules of Engagement", but that's being unfair. The old Warhammer Panzer Battles would probably apply if you can track it down.
>>98778731Konflict 47?
>>98779526A sanctioned psyker is just one thats been approved to resist chaos & not fuck up. This mostly covers Soulbound but also covers Astartes, Inquisitors, Rogue Traders & such that are psykers but were never necessarily tested on Terra as well. All Psykers tested on Terra/taken by the Black Ships are eventually either consumed or Soulbound to the Emperor. Soulbinding is basically making a chaos pact with the Emperor where he connects his will to yours & helps mellow out your powers but also kinda limits them. A very common side effect is being blinded by the light of the Emperor & losing your sight
Do any of the dark heresy books have vehicles? Several careers have some flavor of drive as skill options and the adventure in the back of the book mentions a truck but I haven't seen any stat blocks
>>98779987>So does only house Helmawr get the spyrer rigsThe more recent 2017 secundus book says Hemlawr specifically.
>>98779987>>98780306Used to be a Necromunda thing, did they tighten it to just one house?
>>98779987what is a spyrer rig?
Do Dark Eldar ever adopt humans? Given how much competition they have in Commorragh and how hard it can be for a ruling family I thought it would be fun to write a human child character that escaped after being raised there.
>>98780450Ganger-punk tech suits with cool powers and guns
>>98780588They might adopt them like you would a dog
>>98780353>Used to be a Necromunda thing, did they tighten it to just one house?Dunno if it was fully tightened, but yeah at least the book that I read that had spyrers was Helmawr exclusive.>>98780588No? Why would they do that? I mean, you can do it if you want, it's an RPG, but, like, be prepared to completely destroy the feel of the setting and need to rewrite it.
>>98780624>>98780630I was thinking like how in asia if a family needs a heir so they adopt a boy? I'm not sure if it would work or not, just wondering if its lore friendly.
>>98780588>>98780696>Dark eldarThe only reason they'd be nice to him is to make his pain and despair even better later
>>98780588No. Stop trying to expand the xenos. They exist as one-dimensional foils to contrast to humanity. Making them do something "out of character' means they aren't xenos anymore, you might as well just use humans.
>>98780696>I'm not sure if it would work or not, just wondering if its lore friendlyNo. Eldar are aliens who don't think (and are often correct on) as humans as equals, and even if they did the entirely incompatible lifespans, biology, and all the assorted outlooks that derive from that makes a human non-viable in any sort of political style. If they're super duper desperate for an heir they'll either make one via sex or have one grown in a lab, though the latter would crater their standing politically.Dark Eldar in specific are more likely to turn said child into a living chair for him to sit on tzimiscie style.
>>98780823I agree with you on every point except biology. They are theoretically compatible with humans to make half-breeds. The Old Ones uplifted/handcrafted Eldar & may have had a hand in the creation of humanity too. Something about the method or just random chance made it possible for Human-Eldar relations to potentially bear offspring
>>98780885>They are theoretically compatible with humans to make half-breeds.They are not. There has only been one half-breed, and it was a bodge-job by Malcador to create a servant that could not spill secrets. Even that was just a frankenstein-esque creation than anything natural.
>>98780885>Something about the method or just random chance made it possible for Human-Eldar relations to potentially bear offspringYeah that's not true but not what I was talking about; I mean the fundamentally different capabilities between the two mean there's a different way of doing and thinking about things.
>>98780696If they needed an heir they'd just vat-grow one.
Do any admech tinker with gene editing in enchancements? I know they occasionally do bioware kind of things like lab grown muscle stitched onto a guy. But do they ever just make flawless humanity? Im not even talking about trying to make Space Marine babies, but just like super potent eugenics programs to select certain borderline mutations to get better traits? Everything ive seen is stuff like gene-grafts that are just added on but dont stick, or cursed genetic slurry like Aphriel strain
>>98780971jesus christ fuck off bumpfag, if you really wanted to know you would google the answer easily.
>>98780980NTA but calm down, its a relevant question to the thread

>>98780450the 40k equivalent of the Blue Beetle suit.
>>98781065>>98780980Well first off, fuck you.Secondly I was throwing around ideas with my friend for an admech character with the Dark Secret background and considered making them a borderline mutant of a genetor's pet project. But when I looked up stuff all I got was abhuman things which are notable because they are extreme versions of humanity, and stuff like the Aphriel Strain which are not really eugenics. Id rather not have him be truly abhuman but rather human with a little bit extra spice
>>98781105False-Man background, p19 Rogue Trader ITS
>>98781127Right. Im taking False Man & Dark Secret. I just was looking for lore to back it up
>>98781259It's in an official book, that means it's official lore. People like Cawl and Fabius Bile are infamous for trying to create perfected humans. Bile even has his New Men, and Cawl has Alpha Primus.
>>98780173>All Psykers tested on Terra/taken by the Black Ships are eventually either consumed or Soulbound to the Emperor. That is not correct. All Astropaths are soul-bound to the Emperor. Sanctioned Psykers, including battle psykers in the Imperial Army and psyker agents of the Inquisition, generally are not soul-bound. The sanctioning process varies (see Dark Heresy for examples), but soul-binding is a specific trait not shared by all sanctioned psykers.
>>98781724You are correct. I failed to mention regular sanctioning is an option. I was mostly focusing on the Soulbinding & the getting eaten since you can technically be sanctioned anywhere in the Imperium, it's not required to go to Terra
What happened to the Apollo Moon lander currently on the moon? Did it get destroyed or did Trazyn or Malcador put it in their collection of human history stuff?
>>98782004How much stuff do we have form 38 000 years ago?Would Apollo even be considered important or just ancient crap rusting in space?
Alright I think i have a ship built right for the Warp Time skip. I have 64 Ship Points to construct it with.Age: Grand CrusadeFortune: Fallen From GraceAcquisition: RewardDeeds of Renown: In the Name of the Machine GodContacts: Merchant HouseWarrant Renown: Famous>Falchion Class hull40Machine Spirit Oddities: Blasphemous TendenciesPast History: Tempermental Warp Engine>Servitorized Crew>Crew Reclaimation Facilities>Jovian 8.1 Plasma Drive>***Best Crafted Warp Saturated Markov 1 Warp Drive*** (The real lynchpin of the operation.>Warpsbane Gellar Field>Single Void Shield Array>M-Lr Life Sustainer (the shitty one but we have servitors so they dont care)>Exporation Bridge>Passive Sensors>Sunspear Laser Macro>Shadowblind Cargo (somehow has better storage capacity?)>Manufactorum (To stay as independent & able to make anything needed on the ship)Teleportarium (to get the fuck out of dodge & to raid)Void Abacus (technically not a true ship component as it is man portable, but we are gonna spend our third Archeotech on this)Then we spend 8 SP to upgrade the servitors to 50 Crew RatingThis should max out my Ship Points. I can still have three Craftsmenship Upgrades to use.I now get +45 to travel the warp with no navigator & every warp trip is not only calm, & as safe as it can be when crossing the warp but its also short/early. I figure some ancient ancestor did some great feat to earn the Warrant of Trade early during the Great Crusade, befriended or were one of the first Exploritor from Mars traveling in a flying factory with the Void Abacus to parts unknown for Mars. All that time traveling in the Warp soaked into the ship & now its almost got a feel for the Immaterium, slipping into & through it like a fish.Best suggestion or dubs gets to name it
>>98782115Was the first city important? Of course its important>>98782004Probably kept on Luna still, with a little outdoor park/museum. Unless that faggot Horus destroyed it when he attacked the Luna
>>98782173>Then we spend 8 SP to upgrade the servitors to 50 Crew RatingServitor crew doesn't work like that, its crew rating is bound by quality levels and it has maluses in addition to its benefits. It caps at 40.
>>98782115>How much stuff do we have form 38 000 years ago?Dan Abnett put a shop that sold toys from the 1950s, as in, they still had "CCCP" labeled on toy rocketships.
>>98782004>What happened to the Apollo Moon lander currently on the moonMalcador had it in his museum, alongside things like the Rosetta Stone. It was destroyed during the Siege of Terra.
>>98782311What a lack of imagination, can't believe he wrote the DH setting.
>>98782296I didnt see anything in its entry that lowered its cap, but ill take another look. I dont mind them being slightly worse if it comes to that.Any other opinions on the ship?
>>98782463I look at ships through the lens of spreadsheets so I can track space/power budgets. My personal opinion is that the Exploration bridge is mediocre, Shadowblind bays being 'better' is almost definitely a misprint, passive sensors are a silly choice if you're not investing anything else into silent running, and you've misspelled Sunsears. Further, I don't respect Liber Imperium's wack-ass nonsense and will retain that belief until they reformat for approachability.Personally, at this scale I'd have picked a Firestorm instead, and it looks like you only have the one gun. Don't do that, get more guns.
>>98782521NTA, but a Falchion has a build-in torpedo bay, so it's short a single dorsal weapon to be fully armed.I think the ship lacks combat ability, it's good in naviagating the warp yes, even if there are risks to lenghten real time, but the cheap sensors, servitor crew and fully armed vessel makes it lacking
>>987802951e doesn't have stats for vehicles at all. You can grab stuff from 2e, OW (for military stuff) and RT has a few odds and ends that might be relevant.
>>98779783Logistics problems is lie, 90% of what the Imperium is built on. What has to be wrong with your brain for you to come to a conclusion like that?
>>98782811>1e doesn't have stats for vehicles at all
>>98774508Off the top of my head, that line of work is what Vanus Temple is for, though occasionally the 'big lads' do get that sort of work. Like Mother Gullet.
>>98782521Absolutely fair. My intention was to eventually invest in silent running options to avoid fights. That way it could come out of the warp & slip by places or hide instead if fight. What changes would you recommend?>>98782565Is there a better way to do things? The Servitor crew would be to basically allow the ship to be operated by just the one person & mechanize everything else.
>>98782811How odd. What am I supposed to do with all the Drive (Hover) advances I bought now?
So is there a /tg/ Dark Heresy game? Always wanted to give it a go but no one near me plays/friends have different interests.
>>98783797They were supposed to be skills used narratively, like escaping from the op with the governor's skimmer, navigating a highway to a secret meeting, or trying to race an enemy to get to a key meetup before them. They were never meant for combat, but people complain, and the terrible vehicle rules were eventually added, which were updated by the time Rogue Trader's first splatbook came out.

They had been white once, but age had darkened them like bone. Their surfaces were worn, but I could still make out the trace of silver on the engine bells, and the red markings along the fuselage.‘Toys?’ I said.He nodded.‘Playthings. Models made for a child’s amusement.’‘They are of weapon rockets? Missiles?’‘Rockets,’ he said. ‘For spaceflight. Don’t look so surprised, Mamzel Raeside. The first steps from Terra were said to have been taken using chemical rockets.’‘I am aware of history, sir, even though the detail of the oldest eras is lost in the mists. But really? Vehicles this crude?’He smiled again.‘I do not think they ever flew,’ he said. ‘I think these are simplified models of possible machines. A primitive idea of flight. But I show them to you because of their age. Your employer is very fond of the oldest things.’‘How old?’ I asked.‘It can only be estimated,’ he said. ‘They pre-date the ages of Strife and Technology. I think they come from the Pre-System Age, from the first millennium of the Age of Terra.’‘What? Thirty-eight or thirty-nine thousand years ago?’‘Perhaps. Vessels like this first took our species into the unknown,’ he said. ‘They first took us Blackwards. The family name behind this business comes from that outward urge.’‘I think my employer will appreciate these,’ I said. ‘What price do you ask?’‘I will write it down,’ he said.‘And the markings on the side of the rocket ships,’ I asked. ‘The letters in red? What does C.C.C.P. mean?’‘No one knows that,’ he said. ‘No one remembers any more.’ -Dan Abnett, Pariah

What would you guys consider essential basics for a Frigate? Which guns? How many? Im trying to keep it basic and light. Mostly used to travel in Imperial systems but need to handle itself.
So something I've wondered. Did the space marines have tactics for fighting their own during the great crusade "just in case", or were special tactics created for fighting other marines come about after the Heresy?
>>98790698There was one guy who devised anti-marine tactics, Aeonid Thiel, and as a result he was to be censured by Bobby G himself. The thought was so abhorrent everyone thought he was out of his mind. His censure was planned for the same day as the Betrayal at Calth, and Thiel's tactica became the basis for the loyalists during the Heresy War.
>>98790698Dark Angels & to a smaller extent Space Wolves
>>98790568Depends on the frigate.
>>98790825What do you mean? Ive never messed with voidship creation so im trying my best here
>>98790568Just take a sword then modify it if you're expecting it to hold it's own in combat. If you want anyone to tell you more you need to be more specific.
>>98790859Different frigates do different things. Staring with a Sword with a macro and lance will do different things than starting with a falchion that has a macro and torpedoes.
>>98790873>>98790861Oh okay. I dont really know what to expect. I would like to fly around and do typical Rogue Trader levels of trading & fighting & occasionally being a hero for hire. I dont want to get into huge fights. But indont want to die to pirates at the drop of a hat.

For what it is worth: to anyone interested in one more 40k rpg, which is a fully redesigned and rewritten version of Dark Heresy 1st edition, the Advanced Dark Heresy 2.5 Revised Edition. The Advanced Dark Heresy 2.5 Revised Edition is a fully build ruleset to play out Dark Heresy games, but mostly it will be easiest suited and fitting to be utilized as the Dark Heresy (1st Edition). The ruleset provides full set of all rules needed to play and do not need reference material from Dark Heresy (1st Edition) to any game mechanics or sheets. The rules are mainly written into the Full Rulebook of ADH 2.5 Revised Edition, but several large but often needed sections were placed into their own books instead. The Psychic Powers, Armours, Weapons, Gear & Items & Cybernetics, and Skills & Talents & Traits all have a separate book for each category. This is done to keep these more accessible as needed often and to keep the Full Rulebook page count decent, as even without the page count is about 440 pages. The Careers, Psychic Powers, Skills, Talents, Traits, Gear, Cybernetics, Weapons and Armours have all been redesigned and rewritten for the Advanced Dark Heresy 2.5 Revised Edition and are found from the books included in this public version. So any group with lore and adventures thought can start playing out the Dark Heresy (1st Edition) games using the this far more advanced, flavourful and overall improved version of rules and characters. This is not a commercial thing, but just a sort of a work of our play sessions since 2007 and made for ourselves mostly, but as a sort of a huge thing to come into existence, we made it a bit more polished and version and tried to give it a good amount of usability readouts just to allow others to benefit from our ideas. Full package free downloads and more info available at RPG Geekhttps://rpggeek.com/rpg/81383/advanced-dark-heresy
>>98791634Damn, that's pretty cool you are doing all that. Question though, is there any reason to swap over systems or interesting things to look/steal for my table? I've run first edition for a few years, took a hiatus, and am in the middle of prepping a returning campaign for a few greybeards and new to the setting fresh faced fags.
The switch of system is of course something one needs to study and as the Advanced Dark Heresy 2.5 Revised Edition is freely downloadable, it should be rather easy to do that. The nature of way things work in Advanced Dark Heresy is something that resembles more things from Only War and Imperium Maledictum. The way everything has been implemented is though kept as compatible with DH 1st existing material as possible. The way ADH works makes things have way more depth and combat to be more gritty and have a feel that exists at the 40k novels. The way all collected work functions is also nicely available as the each type of content is always in rulebook or one content book.I think even small tryout of the rules will give the easy way to check how much depth there is compared to any basic 40k rpg. The system has complexity level of course at higher point than the DH 1st or any other, but it will not be that much more difficult or overwhelming to use after some practice, but still giving much more 40k feel than any other system. The careers are way more interesting and deep. I will say that it is really certain the players will love the feel of the character development and the growth into Inquisition career and the roleplay gamifying along with the way to record all things the characters have.

I was considering they would come back 2d10 - WpB days later where ever their body currently lies. Another option could be to treat it as an extended Characteristic Test needing to gather x amount of successes. If their body was utterly destroyed/vaporized, they pop back where they were slain. >>98798765>Like charging them experience to unlock it as an elite advancGod, no. Why would I ever let a player play a perpetual? If I was ever going to do that then it wouldn't be a standardized XP thing, it'd be something special.
>>98798765>i want to make sure my homebrew doesnt clash with some important trival detail found in a book I havent readThere is only one perpetual left in 40k, he became a grey knight and disappeared. The writers have said there are no more perpetuals left after this, though they admitted that Anval Thawn may still be alive. So making another perpetual outside the official character does break lore.
>>98800881Doing some research on him it seems like they respawn from their own body days later. I can use that as a guideline. As far as them all being gone/eliminated I dont care too much about. 40k has squatted things before just to recreate them or have made huge sweeping "its always been this way but we just didnt talk about it" type announcements before. In my interpretation, my own hot take on perpetuals are that they are the remnants of Golden Age/Dark Age of Technology. They were an immortal army of 10,000 human psykers (loosely based on the Persian Immortals) that would be able to fight any foe/the Men of Iron & keep coming back, their souls regenerating their bodies when slain. The lore seems to support that there is a process or implant or something that allows this to happen. A lot of perpetuals didnt start as a Perpetual like Oll Persson did way back in ancient times. After the Men of Iron had been destroyed & humanity was fucked, they sort of faded into legend as the Men of Gold. My game will deal with uncovering some of these mysteries & some other things as the players are members of the Inquisition. I want to allow the possibility for the players to find out they are Perpetuals
Can adepts get good with guns? Got invited to a DH game and I'm torn between that or an arbitrator. I wanted to go for an investigation & maybe tech focused character and those both seem to be able to do that
>>98801256Then you admit you're deviating from the real 40k that is accepted and acknowledged by everyone else, in which case you don't need justification because you've made a parallel universe with alternate lore that nobody but you knows, and there's nothing we can do to help.
>>98801267Yes, but if the BS advancements are too expensive for you:Flames don't use BS to hit.Blast weapons don't care too muchSuppressing fireDepending on the edition: 1e means full-auto gives +20 to hit making autoguns good for you to use. 2e makes single shot give +10 and makes Accurate weapons good for you to use.
>>98801339Truth is relative so i can play around with that. But I wanted my mechanics to match what's been done before. Its the difference between saying Perpetuals are still a thing/can be created again vs dressing up Bugys Bunny in gold armor & saying he was the Emperor all along, yes even the bunny ears, its just nobody noticed. And you did help me. Thawn's story gives an actual account of how he came back which I hadn't been able to find anywhere else.
What is in the food Space Marines eat? They would need way more than just the usual vitamins and minerals normal humans eat. I remember that after their gene seed is implanted they eat food that has ceramics in it but what do they eat on the daily? And what about the Tech Priests? Do they need special food due to their mechanical augmentations?
Can the environmental bodyglove from the inquisitors handbook be used in conjunction with other armors?
>>98801472If there is a plus in front of the number I usually allow it.I also allow synskin/body gloves to count as a +1 to other armor in general, & i let robes add to armor if you make them Best CraftedSo at best you can wear an underlayer, an overlayer, & maybe a cloak
>>98801472+1 armor points looks like it does, yeah.>>98801617There are actually robes you can wear over armor in the Arbites supplement that provide armor, the ballistic cloth surcoat.
>>98801643And the Ballistic Cloak (I think?) in an OW book.So cyber armor 2, bodyglove +1, surcoat +1, cloak +1. You're as kitted up as carapace & you could just be going to a fancy dinner. Add in some actual carapace armor & youre at 10-11. If the items can again a Best Craftsmenship bonus then it could become 16 or so.No wonder all the artwork has guys in layers. Under armor, real armor, an over jacket/surcoat thing & then a big cape or cloak is a good way to survive.
This week on Project ND,>The team breaks into an Incubus Shrine in a very slow lightning raid to kidnap a Heirarch>The team almost gets their shit rocked by demiklaives in an open arena>The team gets baptized
>>98801460>What is in the food Space Marines eat?depends on the chapter, most eat officer rations of some kind because why not? I'm sure there are plenty of chapters that subsist on "roach" bricks of some kind.Same shit as the guard but the quality floor is higher in most cases.
>>98794450Just do as real old armies do, if you shit/piss yourself in combat that just happens.
>>98787601Chaos magic is a "real" thing, occult practices revolving around manifesting human thoughts and emotions into reality. They just lifted it from that.
>>98773958>Shouldn't any female in the scholarship whatever it's called be directed towards like Sororitas, or minostrumNo, the kind of fanaticism required to get in is extremely rare and they can afford to be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very selective.
>>98788087>>98787765Wait that nigga is still alive wtf.
>>98802109I thought they required special food due to their nutritional needs.
>>98803511Not really, they don't need anything you wouldn't find on a normal diet to the best of my knowloge. If that has been a thing odds are it is a chapter mutation or a trick,
>>98803511Due to their higher metabolisms, Space marines require high caloric nutrient blocks that would kill a lesser human.
>>98790214>Abnett tries yo have a bit of fun in goofy scifi setting>some miser on the internet has a hissy about itAnd the world keeps turning.
>>98803546My nutrient blocks are too calorie dense for you, traveler. Only the strongest can handle my nutrient blocks!
>>98782115>How much stuff do we have form 38 000 years ago?Very little, mostly pottery iirc.>Would Apollo even be considered important or just ancient crap rusting in space?Bruh, it was the first time humanity step on another planet, it would be at least as important as having the first ship to sail to the americas on a museum.
>>98798765>i want to make sure my homebrew doesnt clash with some important trival detail found in a book I havent read.I can't decide what is gayer, caring about this, or thinking perpetuals are anything but complete trash in the first place.
>>98801472It's called a bodyglove, so I personally allow it if you want the environmental benefits, but armours don't stack.
>>98801774>If the items can again a Best Craftsmenship bonus then it could become 16 or so.The BC bonus only applies to actual armour, assuming your GM can read.
>>98802674Yeah, but if you're wearing power armour, you're gonna shit and piss yourself on guard detail, in parades and everywhere else too.
>>98803123No, the eight-pointed star was invented by Moorcock. The magic-fagic types stole the symbol from him.
>>98803780The first ship that sailed to the Americas is not in a museum.I would say it is trash; remember, there was the Dark Age of Technology, Holy Terra was occupied by the techno-barbarian, at best it soulc have been a desolate, ancient museum in Man's past, what is left *might* have been conserved by those on the Moon, or at least ignored and left to accumulate space dust.
>>98801267If allowed, go Verispex Adept (Book of Judgement) a nice mix between the two.It falls down to what style of character you'd like: more cerebral like sherlock Holmes, or more Judge Dredd, or Phil Marlow for a more cilivian angle.Adept advancement with BS is horribly bad (they do get Arms AMster thought), Arbitraor is average and start with a decent weapon and the thalents to get the most out of it (quick draw, rapid reload)Depending on the situation, you'd usually have a base +10 shooting at short range (15 meters using your starting weapon), thow in a laser sight, or aiming for another +10 and you're around 40, 50% chance of hitting your target.
>>98803511They require nutrient-dense foods laced with ceramite compounds as neophytes and a bit after, to help them grow into big strong marines. The ceramite compounds are integrated into their bone structure. Presumably this is less necessary after they reach maturity.
>>98773958There are female Scions. Sororitas not only have to show physical potential, but also a religious fervor. If their faith isn't fiery enough girls become Scions or Commissars instead.
>>98804445Or conversely if she's too crazy commissariat duty just ain't in the books because BLAM XDDDD is something you want out of navy armsmen not commissars
>>98804115Ive had GMs fall to either side of the issue. Its not that big a deal
I remember in the psyker splatbook for rogue trader there was a psychic blank option for characters. Does such a thing exist in any of the other ffg games?
>>988053162e
>>98805316Imperium Maledictum has a weak version
>>98801859Every one of these has sounded like an Always Sunny skit
>>98804104The gayest thing is probably making a post about how you dont like it.There now I gave you attention, (you) can fuck off with the other foids that need to feel validated
>>98805316Yes. Blanks/Untouchables exist in a few different books. I know DH2 has it
>>98804121Never said it was ideal, just a solution.
>>98805316DH1e Radical Handbook.
Is there any way to boost your movement speed?
>>98808124Yes and no. Get a hoverboard.
Horde rules in BCSwift Attack + Space Marines getting an extra damage on hit by defaultThat's basically 2 extra hits per 2 successes, right? There's nothing canceling those out, right?
>>98808140Hoverboard? Which book is that in?
>>98808187RT Into the storm
>>98808187I'll let you know as soon as you name a system.
>>98808171Yes. You can (and should) stack harder with a power or devastating weapon and whirlwind of death.
>>98808212Any of the FFGs, they're mostly interchangeable. Wrath of Gloryhole is for fags, and IM doesn't have enough content to really support anything to begin with.>>98808211Cool. I didn't really picture my guy with a power board but those are great stats
>>98773958Obviously no, but for woke reasons yes. The tertiary systems for the Warhammer IP have always been a prime infection point for this nonsense. I'm pretty sure Vostroyan First Born can have women now as well, as ridiculous as that sounds.
>>98808303ITS p.137, Power Board
I don't know what I was expecting given sci-fi writers and massive numbers but the callixis sector is way less populated than you'd expect. Scintilla, the sector capital, *only* has 26 billion inhabitants
