All it does is slow the game down as someone needs to do the half-range measure and makes it so that when someone inevitably has some strat to improve Rapid Fire slightly, they need to do a roll-call on which of their models has a weapon with the keyword e.g. playing a guard player with infantry blobs that needs to separate their special weapons and sergeant weapons to figure out how many lasguns are left.

The schizophrenic Plague Marine datasheet needs to be split into two distinct units and I see two ways to go about it. First way would be a "ranged" squad and a "melee" squad. The second way would be as a "basic" squad that keeps mostly bolters and plague knives and resembles older loadouts along with a more "elite" chosen-like squad that's closer to what we have now.
