When I played Darktide the characters would sometimes bring up "ratling snipers" and I interpreted that as 40k still having Skaven in some form and that they were part of the Imperium. And I thought that was cool, because it makes sense in a weird way, like they would probably feel right at home in the depths of a hive city. Then I looked up these ratlings... and it turned out they are ugly little halflings that are called "ratlings" for some reason and was so incredibly disappointed.
