>>98646788pioqueer is a scam format composed of the worst design mistakes printed by jotc in the last few years, just give it up merchant, nobody wants to play that garbage, paupergeddon will keep being the only mtg tournament to break the 1k player barrier forward.>>98646830Currently there is a huge question mark and since ZETA won't be mtgo legal still the 23 and with fracture coming out soon after it will take approximately 6-8 weeks from now to solve and stabilize the new meta, I actually find these dogshit cards to be somewhat decent, especially the 4 mana draw 1 + make a jace big enough to draw another one or surveil, that has a lot of potential in archaeomancer-ephemerate decks as a potentially infinite value engine all the while providing a target that must be attacked, indirectly gaining you life, in a format that has fairly low power creatures, this is my problem with pws in general and the cancer they have always been in modern, we'll see how it turns out and how fast or slow the format will be in 6-8 weeks, so far I've playtested a lot of decks with zeta and faster builds like elves, rally, madness did extremely well as they are but I also played a lot of UB faeries with strix, affinity of all kinds and esper ephemerate and all these decks felt strong, though getting a bridge eaten by a vandal has been a disaster and led to quick losses, however if better builds were to be found and the format slowed down, then I can see that card mentioned above being insanely good.

Alright episode 9 (and 10 also but 9 for now). https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/magic-story/reality-fracture-episode-9-unafraid>All across the Multiverse, various planes see double as the overlay begins>Everybody's alarmed, Danitha in particular sees an army on this approaching double Dominaria>Tam sees the merging going on and realises she's too late>She also knows, can feel, that Arcavios is the first thing to be merged with the overlay, part of how the spell works>The people will be the last to merge, the places will be first, so they have to all end up in the same place>And indeed that's going on, people from Strixhaven popping up, buildings from the other campus coming into being alongside Hexhaven's>The buildings start to blur together, becoming piecemeal of both>And the Hexhaven students see the approaching Strixhaven students as a threat and attack>Dellian Fel's there, and fighting back pretty handily, so Tam figures he's got that handled>As Tam runs, she hears telepathic cries of terror, and tries to recite prime numbers to calm herself, which works well enough>She wonders what she can do, how to stop this, and wonders if, because she's made from Jace, she might be recognised by the Echoverse as its creator too>She tries to reach out to the edges of the Echoverse as it spills into the Multiverse, but that doesn't work out>And debris's falling everywhere, with Konstrari students doing their best to reshape it into architecture>Then among the screams, she hears a familiar voice, Kirol's>She starts to run towards them, but remembers her betrayal and all that, but says it's fine they can hate her as long as they live>She sees rubble about to fall on Kirol and does some probability fuckery to make it not do that by having a sphinx swoop in and take the hit instead>Kirol notices her then, and is ultimately just happy to see their friend alive>They rush forward and hug Tam, Tam asks if they're hurt
>>98651992>They say no, ask how she is, and ramble on about how they feel, saying she betrayed them, they hate her, they want answers>Tam apologises, says she was answering to somebody she couldn't refuse, Jadzi is dead, it's her fault>Kirol eventually says they don't trust her, but they don't want her dead either, and Tam says she doesn't want them dead too>That seems to be enough resolution, so Kirol asks what's going on>She explains the merging of Multiverses and all, but Kirol goes "no I mean what's going with you">She says they trusted her, she failed them, so she's going to fix it>Kirol asks if they're just supposed to wait for her to fix it, she says she doesn't want them to get hurt>Eventually she explains Jace didn't make a way to undo this, it'll keep going so long as he lives, and this is all on her, so she HAS to stop it>Kirol still looks upset, but says she's going to solve it because she's the smartest person they know>They go off to find the others, leaving Tam feeling conflicted>She starts to feel inadequate in the face of all this going on around her, because after all, she's not even a whole person>Meanwhile the gang is reunited in the final memory trap, Chandra hugging Vraska because she's alive>Chandra explains they tried to fight him, didn't work out, and now Echo-Vraska is what they're dealing with before they can even try dealing with the other Echos>This memory trap is in the Implicit Maze, and Vraska doesn't know a whole lot about that, only bits and pieces of what Jace told her>She asks where the other Vraska is, and the answer is a giant animated statue of Niv-Mizzet coming over the walls of the maze>It's preoccupied with something, so it doesn't notice Chandra and Vraska yet, because Garruk and Ajani are keeping it busy>Vraska goes "So it's JUST the dragon?">Vraska grabs a nearby shield from a suit of armor that has fallen apart and says Chandra's going to launch her up to petrify her double
>>98652025>Chandra knows this trick from Koth>Vraska is about to go, but realises she doesn't know how to aim this, so she asks the Jaces in her mind for help and they help her calculate the perfect angle, to not flinch, to roll, etc.>Chandra launches and up she goes>She lands, painfully, onto the statue's head and is greeted by Echo-Vraska>Echo-Vraska says "why not make it fun and fight like assassins, knives on knives">But Vraska just grabs her and petrifies her, leaving her looking mostly just confused as she turns to stone>Then Vraska shoves the statue away off the side and it crumbles>She yells to go at the others, and they charge at their doubles, or rather each goes against a better target, Garruk goes against Echo-Chandra because he's used to poor terrain, Ajani goes against Echo-Garruk and rips the Chain Veil off of him, and Chandra burns Echo-Ajani up best she can>That leaves them distracted enough for the gang to reconvene>The shattered Echo-Vraska's body still has its dress intact and Vraska has an idea and asks Chandra to get the dress off for a disguise>Then they get through the portal>Theorist is weaving the Multiverses together, but losing himself piece by piece as he does>His fraying mind is fucking up the overlay but his dwindling sanity just gives rises to mania as he realises how part of everything he's becoming>He commands his soldiers and doubles to kill any who attempt to stop him>He carries on, forgetting his past, forgetting everything as he continues his overlaying>But then he notices an error, the aberrations are up to something>And then Liliana and the lichified Opal are there, Lili saying what a mess this all is>He's about to send them to sleep when Lili says she knows what he's feeling right now>He's about to snap back but she keeps talking, saying this doesn't have to be how his story ends
>>98652064>He brings up her betraying them for Bolas, she says she was wrong then, and chose to change, and there's no Gideon this time, only him>He commands her to stop, and she does, but Opal continues, talking for her, saying she's unstoppable and he knows it>Indeed, his mental hold on her doesn't last because he's so traumatised by his time with her, or some such>She says she needs Jace to do what she couldn't>He says a do-over is in her interests too, she could have a life where she was loyal>She says loyalty is cheap but authenticity is wealth>He asks how much suffering they put each other through, she tells him to shut up, even when she was in his place it didn't earn her freedom or safety or power>He says even now she's manipulative, and she ignores it, noticing his hands are fidgeting>He tries to stop, and has an outburst towards her, saying she was his partner, yet she treated him like a stray dog, why should he listen to or trust her?>She says because she was him, she's betrayed her allies and herself and all she got was loneliness, she knows what it's like to wield power like he does, and knows it only brings emptiness>And a portal opens and seemingly the echo-Vraska steps through, distracting him enough for Lili to send Lich Opal at him and knock him to the ground>Before he can recover, both Lilis are kicking him in the head telling him to undo this, and he says he can't>In a fit of rage, he unleashes a telepathic assault on Lili, bringing up the memories of her brother's death, of Gideon's sacrifice, of him failing to stop Phyrexia and then deposits a theorem into her head and shoves a tumor in for good measure>And then Lich Opal just heals all that away, and he decides to just command Lili's heart to stop beating>And then Vraska stabs him through the back>And all the aberrations flood into him at once, and he can't handle them all at once

>>98652103>Nihilist stops him reaching for anybody else, Detective cuts him off from the overlaying, Warden forces him to remain still, Clean Slate opens a path to his brain, the Survivor stands aside as the Soldier makes the Theorist forget how to breathe>As he gasps, the parts of Jace embrace him and he becomes whole again, and Jace is returned to himself>He blinks, looking around at his friends>Unable to speak, he gives them all a last telepathic message, saying Chandra was the sister he never had>Ajani gets instructions to find Tam to fix what's left>He apologises for being unable cure Garruk way back when>He says Lili can feel how she wants about him, and he feels back a brief apology from her, and she tells him to rest unburdened>And aloud, he speaks to Vraska, saying it worked>She asks if he wants to speak somewhere else, but no, he wants it to be real, he wants to look at her>He feels no real regret to see the overlaying start to fray apart>He says the cost is worth it to Vraska, and she can only hold him tight and say she doesn't want him to go>He says he won't go far>He thanks his Captain, and she says he's her curiosity and empathy, and he goes still, looking her in the eyes all the while
And now episode 10. https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/magic-story/reality-fracture-episode-10-happy-birthday>Vraska is holding Jace's body and sobbing, while Chandra and Garruk hug her>And then Lili kneels in front of his body, and remarks it's much more, referring to how she said she'd feel when he dies>And Lili too weeps for another life lost>Ajani reminds them they have to find Tam and fix this mess>And then Lili's saying no in anger as a blue glow arises from Jace's body>And Lili's furious at seeing what can only be his spark leaving his body>It shoots out of the window and Lili can only ask what he did>Tam's still panicking over her inadequacy when she sees a star approach her>She tries to stop its approach with her magic, and then tries to run, and nothing works until it slams into her>And she's suddenly filled with energy, and it leaves her wondering what that was>And then she 'remembers' something: She must ask for help>She reaches out telepathically, further than ever before, all the way to Innistrad, all the way to Emrakul>And she says she needs help>She explains there's a Multiverse that needs consuming, unnatural but corporeal, and will Emrakul feast at her invitation?>Emmy agrees, having waited to be what she is, saying the mirror will crumble and the garden will blossom>She also sends an image of a chess match she doesn't remember playing, of Emmy's queen moving and taking Tam's king>Tam tells her to enjoy her meal and mentally retreats>As she does, she realises the star brought with it a storm of wants and goals>She wants to learn to ride a horse, to see her friends and travel with them, to solve a problem, to see Vraska, and many other things that leave her confused>The place is getting worse around her until hey there's Emmy showing up>Tam looks away because she can't comprehend looking at Emrakul for too long and goes elsewhere>Emmy begins to open her mouth to feed on the Echoverse
>>98652177>Hexhaven begins to vanish as it's devoured, and Tam reaches out with her senses and feels the other planes' doubles start to go as well>Tam goes to the Foliplex, Hexhaven's Biblioplex, and finds Sanar, Kirol, Abigale and Lluwen all>They all look at her, and she apologises, but says they're going to be safe now>Kirol asks if she had something to do with the monster eating the sky, Tam says she won't hurt them>She approaches them, and all but Kirol flinch away, and she apologises once more>Kirol asks who Tam IS>Tam says she can't wait to find out>And soon enough Abigale and Sanar are hugging her (Lluwen refuses to)>She says it's fine, they don't have to be friends, and Kirol agrees, but says they do need an introduction>So Kirol and Tam reintroduce themselves (Tam is 'just Tam')>Kirol asks if she knows a way back home, she says there's a portal at the back of Folioplex>She says she'll meet them back there, she has to make sure the other Strixhaven students get back safe>Back in the sanctum, Lili sees the place coming apart, thinking they're doomed>And then out from some other portals come the remaining doubles ready to fight>Vraska quickly petrifies Echo-Ajani>Lili realises something's wrong and yells at them to stop, that this isn't the place>And then she feels a presence she's felt before and sees Emmy>She wonders how Emmy knew to come here, and then realises about the spark leaving Jace's body, and puts the pieces together>She says they need to go, but Garruk does have his priorities on killing Lili still>And the doubles start to vanish as a final portal appears>Lili tells Garruk she died years ago in all the ways that matter, kill her if he wants to be doing that when a world ends>Ajani says they're leaving, and Chandra notes to Vryn as they just planeswalk away>Garruk pauses and lowers his axe, then asks if she knows the twins>She says she does, she cares for them both, and if he means them harm, then they're enemies
>>98652217>He says nothing and planeswalks away and Lili exhales in a panick before turning to the portal>She sees Vraska still holding Jace's body, and thinks she could just leave the both of them>But Lili can't just do that, so she grabs Vraska and pulls her up, telling her to hold on to his body and hauls them all through the portal>Tam sees the Founder Sphinxes try to fight Emrakul, to no avail>She sees the Hexhaven Cadets try to send spells that do nothing>As more of Hexhaven is eaten, she realises the Theorist, Jace, is dead>And Tam thanks Emrakul for only eating the Echoverse as Hexhaven is pulled away from Strixhaven>As things fall apart, she sits down and hears a voice>It's Jace, a part even smaller than the Theorist>He says she's his fail-safe, and if she's hearing this, he's dead>He made her so she could inherit his spark, because they're so much more precious now>He asks only that they continue their work to make things better, and may they always know exactly who they are>And then the voice fades and Tam feels more of her mind settle into place>And she realises she's complete and forever unfinished, a summary and just a person, and that's all she needs to be>She tries to sort out more of who she is from who Jace was as she planeswalks for the first and millionth time, wishing herself a happy birthday as she goes to Strixhaven>Back on Vryn, Vraska is sitting with Ranna once more, after Jace's funeral>Not many showed for it, but enough did>Vraska wishes so bad that Jace was here>And then a knock at the door, and she opens it to a blue-cloaked figure...>Who is Tam, of course>Tam tries to be friendly about it but Vraska looks like she's seeing a ghost>Vraska asks what she needs her for, and Tam says she was hoping she could tell her>Vraska says she's mourning, and Tam says so is she>Ranna appears, sees Tam and is shook>Tam pulls her cloak's hood down and smiles, saying she's here to help make things better

Final thoughts because I'm a Jace fan and I liked the story overall:Man the Echoverse was a nothingburger of a setting. None of the Echo characters except Opal were anything worth noting.Jace's death, while at least emotional and not dismissive, feels wrong to me, because it's like you have a character spend the entire story saying he needs to die and the story ends up agreeing with him, it feels off.I honestly still don't care much for Tam. I like her well enough, but as the replacement for Jace she's just... Not there, not yet at least.I did REALLY like the insights into Jace as a character via all the different parts, even if many of them were sort of brushed over quite quickly.As I said, it's really fucked they just killed the entire Echoverse. What're the whole consequences of all this supposed to be? Emrakul is free? She could've done that anytime. Jace is dead? Yeah, but his replacement is right there. Maybe there's more to it we've yet to see, but yeah.So, overall, good story, good character writing, disappointingly abrupt ending.

Fatal Push remains the single biggest design mistake WotC ever made, with Companion being the second worst. It forced every 3-4 mana creature to have to vomit out value to be remotely playable.
