Why does everyone ignore the fact that the other Fera are just as responsible for the War of Rage and Impergium as the Garou?
>>

Anon, all the fera are retarded. The garou happen to be the loudest retards of them all.
>>
>>98651458
because the garou "won" and are the only ones in-universe who at large don't see anything wrong with the war of rage

the fact that Jonas did not consider the war to have been a good thing was considered revolutionary and controversial inuniverse and something he had screaming matches with silver fang elders over
>>
>>98651471
>are the only ones in-universe who at large don't see anything wrong with the war of rage
That's limited to very specific tribes, the majority of unreliable narrator takes on the War of Rage have a "man, we fucked up" perspective.
>>
>>98651458
literally how? Even if you consider the provocations canon they are still entirely responsible for attacking and killing lmao. Just because uhmmm.. the werebears didnt revive one of our guys doesn't make it in any way justified to attack them or whatever other reason is given. Literal tardrage retard tier move in the most garou-favored interpretations possible, which may themselves also be fucking made up cope.

So no, they weren't equally responsible for getting attacked and genocided by Garou at all. They were at worst responsible of mildly provoking Garou and not serving them unquestionably and subsequently defending themselves.
>>
>>98651483
>which may themselves also be fucking made up cope.
Basically every Garou-sympathetic take regarding the War of Rage comes from non-Garou narrators.

The vast majority of them are secondaries who have never opened a WtA book anon. They interact with it though memes, second hand knowledge and eating up vamp or magewank. Having the past be everyone's fault for different reasons is too nuanced a position.

The Garou are still huge fuck ups tho.
>>
>>98651458
Garou fucked up the most, with their fuck-ups having the longest-lasting effects too.
>>
Now it seems from what little of V6 has shown to us is that over-correction is the direction whitewolf chose for this edition. Which all but assured that W6 would actually de-emphasis to outright remove the activist metaphor and re-focus more on bane fighting.

And the plot would go something like this.

Gaia isn't dead and the garou would somehow find out about that fact pivot the main conflict of surviving the death of gaia to the garou trying to trying to figure out a way out a way to revive her and most tribes having some very Vocal disagreements on how that would be accomplished. Yet despite that the garou as a whole knows they need to pool resources which leads to the reformation of the garou nation.

Oh yeah the moderates from the Cult of Fenris rose up and purged the leadership so the Cults good now. Now didn't the cult already purged the moderates ? Well as a very smart man would say "Don't think about it".

What are you're take on how a W6 would pan out?
>>
>>98651510
Path of Thoth (aka Focused Mind) and Path of Anubis (aka Spirit Manipulation) are pretty broken and something a lot of tremere would very much like to be allowed to take as primary path instead of path of blood

and beside that you can pretty much go either curse magician (Snake Inside,Path of the Dry Nile, Path of Corruption) minion master (Ushabti, Revelations of Duat, Revelations of Midgard) or a very powerful general bag of trick magician (Immanence of Set, Divine Hand, Path of Duat) who can destroy people from afar, summon stroms, curse items etc
>>
>>98651562
I don't think 6th edition is going to survive long enough for us to get around to werewolf. Their focus on mage and changeling could be interesting. They are really going to have to think about the metaphysics of the setting and not just handwave it though loss of access to the umbra like they did with W5.

It could be a chance for them to unify and clarify the metaphysical side of WoD but given their track record in recent years I see it being a disaster that will only make developing the setting harder in the future.
>>
>>98651562
We'll be lucky if we see a mostly AI-generated W7, sometime around 2034.

Meant to add to >>98651575 but werewolf is always a lot more interesting when ST and writers focus on the
>mystical atavaistic warriors with dark primal power in a metaphysical conflict
then the
>ecoterrorists who are sometimes a wolf fighting evil corporations
Yes climate degradation and greedy corpos should be a front of the conflict that WtA is about but not the focus. Not by a long shot.

The whole climate activist overfocus in W5 was bad and a terrible introduction to what the game could be to new players. I think W5 sold so poorly that they might not even be willing to touch it again for a long time.

dot 1 to 4 are in Blood Magic: Secrets of Thaumaturgy, but because of a printing error the 5th dot is at the start of Blood Sacrifice The Thaumaturgy Companion

>>98651703
the text of the first dot power says
>Whenever the target sees another chance to repeat the triggering behavior, he must make a Willpower roll (difficulty equals the Setite’s Willpower) to stop himself from doing so
so depending on the st the behavior might be sex with you or just the same kind of sex in general. although if you have the 3rd dot you get to remove the willpower roll while the victim is in your presence

>While the Setite is in the presence of the target, the player rolls Manipulation + Seduction against a difficulty equal to the target’s Willpower and spends a blood point. If successful, any qualms the victim might have about removing the barriers to the satisfaction of her cravings melt away — she may not even spend Willpower points to overcome the addiction and she’ll gladly leave her offi ce during the middle of work to score a hit. The effect lasts for one scene per blood point spent.
which makes it sex with you again regardless of st interpretation of the first dot power

Kek. No sure if it's in Clanbook Setite or Cairo by Night but Setites LOVE Tremere and jingling keys in front of them in the form of new thaumaturgy/serpentis precisely because they know Tremere are shortsighted power-hungry rubes that won't notice how the bill is racking up till they are too deep in the snek cult and snek debt. one of the two Blood Magic books mentions that the council of seven actually made it illegal in the 90s (till further notice) to research setite sorcery because they lost so many members to the serpents because of it

but i imagine making it a forbidden fruit just makes the sale even easier given that tremere apprentices tend to look for any way to get a head start on the rest and setites love selling forbidden fruit to people
>>
>>98651871
Yes, and it'll still get mogged by vampire fomori. Vampires have immunity to all the negative effects of banes possession unless the get possessed by a very limited whitelist of bane types(Blood, Death, and later editions added Madness banes).
Banes never willingly do this though. Vampires are basically unliving roach motels to them.
>>
>>98652056
>the council of seven actually made it illegal in the 90s
And?
The council of seven have made researching the tremere exclusive magics illegal, dark thaum illegal, and manufacture of gargoyles illegal, but the books are clear that elder tremere still do any or all of these regularly. "Illegal" in pyramid-ese just means "Don't do it in front of outsiders and don't leave any traces you did it".
>>
>>98652145
this time it's actually the other way around outsiders won't give a shit (because blood magic is blood magic to lay people) but insiders will be pissed

other than that i already pointed out why this is a stupid move that plays into the setite's hand

WtF session three went well last night.

The PCs all retreated to Dodge's den (aka: the Dodgy Den), a small cottage that had been abandoned and reclaimed by the wilderness. Flowers, vines and all sorts of flora have overrun the place, but a few rooms inside are relatively habitable. As they bickered into the night, Dolly (our Cahalith) awoke to the sound of wolves howling. Looking outside, she saw the creatures. Well over a dozen of them, eyes alternately as white as starlight or red as blood. They patrolled the perimeter of the cottage, but when Dolly went to awake a packmate, the wolves vanished. Everyone went outside to investigate, and Dodge (our Ithaeur) concluded that they had vanished into the Hisil itself. There were pawprints, lingering scents etc, so the wolves were definitely real and not ghosts.

That night, Dolly had a dream. The pack were stood on a pier, where their Totems locus is. The water about them buckled and broke as wolves emerged from it. Dozens, then hundreds. The wolves watched the Pack. She awoke in a fright.

For time constraints, we then jumped ahead in the day a bit to that evening, where the group had arranged a meeting (via Ghoul) with a local Kindred called Dominic. A note here is that the Ghoul never met Stray, our Irraka, and so Dominic expects to meet for three people.

The meeting is at a local house, the White Horse. Stray goes there early and spends an afternoon and evening nursing pints and eating ham, egg and chips. Dominic arrives, a young man in a sharp suit with a perm from a decade ago. He has a briefcase, and takes a table.

The pack arrive, and the meeting is afoot. Baz, our Rahu, is openly confrontational for the whole affair, while Dolly and Doge try to mediate. Dominic explains that the PCs have done him a favour, locating that strange creature last session. It was indeed, a vampire. Shocker.
>>
>>98652249
Dominic and his Ghoul are under the impression that the PCs are Hunters, and under this pretence Dominic attempts to hire them. He tells them about a pack of werewolves (my god!) in Maldon, that have muscled him and some friends out of town, and are causing trouble for the people of the town. To that end, he opens his briefcase and offers the PCs a leather roll of sharpened, silver blades. The PCs struggle to maintain their composure, recoiling and reacting visibly to this. With 1 Intelligence, and 1 Occult, brave Dominic pieces together that the PCs must be Werewolves, to fear silver so.

He changes tactics, and instead offers a partnership to the PCs. The Pure (though he doesn't know that name) are causing trouble for everyone, and both parties present would benefit from their removal. If the PCs can deal with the Pure, and allow Dominic and his pals to claim the town of Maldon, he promises a mutually beneficial partnership. Quid pro quo, the Kindred and Uratha stay out of oneanothers ways, but exchange pertinent information as and when. The PCs agree to this.

Next session, they plan to follow the river Blackwater into Maldon, planning to call upon their Totem (a spirit of a small tributary creek) to aid them in this. They considered entering the Hisil to scout the town out and identify the Pure. I'm excited by this, and need to think of some fun wrench to throw in the works. I made it clear to them that if they try to fight the Pure in a field mano a mano, they will get annihilated. Hopefully they keep that in mind, the Pure's totem is fucking nasty.

>They were at worst responsible of mildly provoking Garou
Yeah yeah.
>Ananasi got mad that they were attacked while serving the Wyrm so they created War of Rage to try to fuck Garou up
>Nagah, whose whole purpose is already skethy since they asssasinate people, got one of their important ones corrupted who then proved Garou by killing the son of one of the heads of the peace-wanting factionç
>Gurahl, whose supernatural flaw is making themselves supernaturally stubborn when they decide they are right, decided they didn't need to do shit.
>Grondr, so arrogant that they judge others but not themselves, showed themselves into a situation that didn't involve themselves and furthermore attack Garou in a stupid attempt to get revenge for Gurahl, literally causing their extinction
>>
>>98652263
Gaia(if we believe the shifters) is retarded. I mean it, each brand of shifter has some ridiculous flaw which bites everyone in the as. Gaia can be summed up with
>An IQ too low?
>>
>>98652263
>one nagah assassinates some garou
time to spergout and erase a race from existence!
>ananasi
are barely gaian shifters and do usually deserve everything coming for them

>Grondr judging us for attacking the others, coming to their aid

how the fuck do you think this makes garou look not completely responsible and retarded? They are still the ones completely in the wrong in the end, not to mentiont he fact that the victor ultimately has the responsibility to act justly, even if their war had been justified.

Honestly, Gaia nor Celestines nor Garou Totems seems to care. Like, you think they would say, do or at least order something when War of Rage was happening.
>>98652317
Nagah might tell others they were created to judge others but you know how suspicious they are overall right?
Ananasi is the reason why other shifter got into War of Rage in the first place since they are the ones originally serving the Wyrm! They went and inflated the tension with other Fera and Garou. They have a huge chunk of the responsiblity. That's what I am telling you about.
Gurahl doing "nothing", when nothing is not saving the life of someone deserving even according to their own standard, isn't nothing.
Grondr wasn't attacked! They attacked when Gurahl took shelter with them and Grondr decided it was their business to escalate!
>how the fuck do you think this makes garou look not completely responsible and retarded? They are still the ones completely in the wrong in the end, not to mentiont he fact that the victor ultimately has the responsibility to act justly, even if their war had been justified.
Nope. We know from numerous accounts that Garou had reasonable reasons to do what they did.
What wasn't reasonable was how far they went but we are literally talking about a race where Rage is a stat so it isn't surprising.
>>
Can garou asks human spirits that were never garou for gifts? It'd be awesome if I could get the 300 to shield me from silver bullets.
>>
>>98652415
there are human ancestor spirits in wta, but they are weird and eldritch beings according to the garou and i think they only deal with their direct bloodline
>>
>>98652415
yes but I would argue they don't like you and would require some severe bans and chiminage, but the way werewolves are generally portrayed all spirits seem to love them way too much (despite the core material explicitly saying many spirits despise them), this is really much more a mage/sorcerer sort of spirit.

So in essence, the way I see it properly portrayed the spirit of the 300 would tell a black fury to eat shit and kill herself, despite being perfectly not-wyrm. But the average wta writer will still give a Black Fury a 300 gift because cool.
>>
>>98652415
Yes man created spirits all the time but for game balance reasons their ability to get gifts which just completely shut down guns is limited.

Technically a jam technology gift could make silver weaponry useless and Garou can get that at about low rank so its not that uncommon to run into werewolves who can simply shut silver weapons down.
>>
>>98652436
Of course the 300 would tell a Black Fury to eat shit, their closest analogues are the amazons (who sided with Troy. Sure, that was in the Bronze Age, but greeks are greeks). What about a Silver Fang who can prove he descends from Leonidas himself?

>>
>>98652522
It's pretty damn strong. It's on the verge of being a rank 4 Spirit, it has a small pack of spirit followers (ilthum, umia, whichever one it is) that are similarly vicious in various ways, and it has a very tight leash on its Pure pack.

Sanguine Scourge of Weakness is an old spirit of bloodletting as a means of healing. Old chirurgeon bleeding-style. It appears as a monstrously inflated human heart, the arteries and veins of it tipped with scalpels. Its Ban (which applies also to its pack) is that no bloodflow may be hampered by hand or intent. If the Pure get hit, they have to tough it out (Uratha regeneration is allowed, but spending Essence is a no-go, Medicine too). If any enemies nearby are wounded, the Totem will use its Blood Influence to rip the wounds open for aggravated damage. It has the usual suspects as far as Numina and Manifestations go, but it isn't above drawing some blood itself with scalpel-tipped arteries.

Its Banes are any sort of blood-borne medication, anticoagulants and that sort of thing. If it tastes them, it has a bad time. If the PCs somehow manage to inject the Spirit with them, it'll explode rather spectacularly I'm sure.

Wraith Q. So why do other players have to be the Shadow instead of the ST? You'd think that would cut down on the ThatGuy-isms.
>>
>>98652717
the idea behind it was that the shadow was meant to be a character near equal to the player character itself so making the shadow another npc for the story teller would a.) bind you to a bunch of gmpcs and b.) be a lot of work for the st because again those guys where meant to be as deep as they been awful

i personally don't think it works or is as much of a problem to leave to the st as white wolf seemed to have thought it would be
>>
It's not actually possible to be infected by a bane just because you visited a website, is it?
>>
>>98652415
You can homebrew rules for human spirits, like Simo Hayha making you perfectly accurate in combat but must kill normal wolves if they threaten livestock in return.
>>
>>98652717
Wraith expects you to be playing with a table of mature roleplayers. If that is the case then its fine. Expecting the ST to run an individualised antagonist which is constantly hounding each player is a DnD approach which would put huge strain on them, on top of running the game.

If you have to have the game to be designed around your table being full of shitty problem players it is not the games fault.

Anansianon here

I'm probably going to get the next story chapter out tomorrow. It's going to focus more on the metaphysical and spiritual nature of the spider MC, but we're also going to get more of our Mage and the Middle Eastern funnel-web spider LARPing as a vampire.

>>98652750
Anyone who has any kind of spiritual, mental or moral hole, pollution or weakness in them is a potential target for banes. But a full possession into being fused with a bane and becoming formori is less common then just being reversibly influenced.

So to answer the next question yes 4channers are spiritually, mentally and morally polluted.

They do it all the time. But it's hard to do without sounding like a tree hugging moron. The second approach results in First Teams rapidly approaching their location if it ever goes public.

>>
>>98653178
Again they do it all the time, but Pentex isn't any solid company or organisation. If they destroy or reveal one company or corporate conspiracy headed by Pentex they will be back under a new guise or shell company in no time at all. Even if they destroyed 'Pentex' proper it is widespread and diffuse enough that it would be a matter of changing names, shuffling the board of directors, accessing offshore accounts and emerging as a brand new corporate entity. They would have to dismantle the entire systems that support such tactics if they want to do anything more than moderate setbacks to Pentex's goals.

If you press the button, all of the people responsible for the corruption and evil and exploitation and ruination that contaminates modernity will die. They and all of their ilk will be wiped off of the face of the world forever.
However, you will never experience a hot shower ever again. The internet will become a thing of the past. If you ever eat hot meat again, it will be the meat of an animal that you or someone close to you has killed and roasted over a fire. Your freedom and independence will be determined exclusively by your ability to fight for it. The vast majority of werewolves have accepted that they won't live to see the world after the Apocalypse. To a lot of them, a world without an insane Wyrm trying to destroy it is worth a world without Garou. The entire Get of Fenris interpretation of the Apocalypse is built around that, even.

I mean, there are some less than ideal Garou who are a little cowardly or self-centered and hope to rule over the world after the fall of Pentex like beast-kings, but their entire ideology is a death cult of giving their lives to save Gaia from destruction, with the Shadow Lords, Uktena and Get of Fenris at the forefront of the "victory at any cost, even ourselves" belief system.
>>

AU where the Wyld and the Wyrm have the opposite roles in the narrative, i.e. the Weaver tried to restrain the Wyld and drove it insane in the process, now the Wyrm is on the ropes and the Wyld threatens to do something terrible to all of reality if it's not stopped. The question is, what changes?
>>
>>98654182
The only thing that would truly change is all the Garou who were involved falling into harano when they realise that no one actually gives a shit. It might end up being a net positive to Pentex as they would be emboldened by the inaction and their opponents utter demoralisation.
>>
>>98654131
Truck probably wouldn't do it either. Freight train might.
>>
>>98654200
Fuck all changes.
>>
>>98654200
Instead of the Wyrm corrupting the Weaver's web so that it will inevitably collapse due to the fundamental flaws, the Wyld would be corrupting the Weaver's web with the purpose of overburdening it with overpopulation until it collapses under its own weight. Instead of the Wyld struggling to keep the natural world alive in the gaps in the web, the Wyrm would be trying to nibble at the web from the edges in order to inhibit the growing overpopulation.

The flaw in this is that the Wyrm's goal aligns with its nature of destroying, whereas the Wyld's goal wouldn't align with its goal of creating, as overpopulation would inevitably lead to a population crash, rather than endless growth.

A population crash is still entropy, i.e. the Wyrm working as intended. The Wyld would likely just keep expanding and adding to itself like an all-encompassing metaphysical tumor until the Weaver can't keep up with it anymore.

This is what irony poisoning has done to our society. Everyone is afraid of feeling shamed by others, that they bury themselves under layers of irony and cynicism so that they never have to confront something that’s actually a harsh truth, and anyone who actually tries to speak up is silenced and called absurd nicknames for simply speaking in an honest and sincere manner about actual problems, usually resulting in some variation of saying “Suck it up and stop whining.”
That and the tribalism. It’s only ever thinking “I want to destroy and harm the other side” rather than wanting to fix anything at all.
>>
>>98654351
Like, this.
>>98653170
Tree hugger is a term used to associate someone supposedly obsessed with environmentalism. But let’s be completely honest here: Why do we get so mad about that? Well, the answer is that they can come across as insufferably smug, but in reality the core message they’re trying to get across is ultimately true. We do need to be better to the environment because we and all other creatures on the planet depend on it
>>
>>98654375

As an apocalypse scenario, it feels a little more awkward to me. It sort of works if the Wyld is separate from the Weaver, but an apocalypse with the Wyld ingrained in the Weaver like the Wyrm usually is feels wonkier. How would that manifest, billions and billions of effectively immortal humans breeding out of control and society collapsing, without any of the usual consequences of society collapsing, with these eventual trillions of humans just mingling with each other in a senseless mass of flesh?

It sort works, when you identify that cancer is a corruption of a cell's original intention, which ultimately leads to the death of the host. The death might occur due to the uncontrolled growth of malformed cells, but the beginning (corruption) and the end (death) are typical Wyrmish themes.

But you could have this argument about anything, we all know the regular arguments about how vampires are more aligned with the Weaver and the Wyld than the Wyrm by miles, or how technology and the Technocracy is way more Wyld-aligned than Weaver-aligned, and so on.

For werewolves there’s a rating of how many % you’re part spirit depending on how much gnosis you have. I was wondering if there’s the equivalent for rage.

The only clue I have for rage is excerpts from disparate books. Like 1 rage (like ragabash) you are easily irritable and can suddenly explode in murderous frenzy at the drop of a hat or if pushed enough. At 5, people like the ahroun have to make a conscious and constant effort to view friends and family as such and not a prey to immediately massacre. I was wondering about the other levels. Especially above 6 up to 10.

IIRC, there aren't many explicitly anti-demon powers in VtM, and what there is tends to be bound up in blood magic. It's a common issue with VtM's power design, but to be fair, (and sometimes the writers themselves forget this) Blood Magic is much older than the Tremere, and it's not like only the Ass Mites and Snakes have it besides them. One of the most powerful blood mages period was a Nosferatu. The Ventrue, Cretheus, is also a very powerful blood mage despite the fact he was already an elder by the time he started to learn it. If you're looking for some sort of hidden vampire paladin tech like your pic might imply, you're gonna be disappointed.

But it's also important to note that many of the best powers vampires have access to are their social powers, and can allow you to play minion master par excellence. Dominate and Presence alone can, if wielded by a savvy vampire, be used to create a small army with alarming speed. Dealing with Infernalists as a vampire is more about identifying them (Auspex is good here) and then coming down with overwhelming numbers and force. I figure it's why the Camarilla has less of an Infernalist problem than the Sabbat does.

>One of the most powerful blood mages period was a Nosferatu. The Ventrue, Cretheus, is also a very powerful blood mage despite the fact he was already an elder by the time he started to learn it
Interesting, are those magics untouched by infernalism or are they shady in the way koldunism and abyss mysticism are?

It felt like there had to be some kind of counter for evil spirits because historically spirits should have been an issue for them. Even if it's something rare and the main response turned out to be something like 'kill the infernalists before they call up anything' or 'roll Occult to figure out bans and banes', you can't tell me they weren't storming the labyrinths below knossos and chorazin without some countermeasures.

>But it's also important to note that many of the best powers vampires have access to are their social powers, and can allow you to play minion master par excellence. Dominate and Presence alone can, if wielded by a savvy vampire, be used to create a small army with alarming speed.
Yeah, this is also always good to keep in mind. Sometimes the answer can just be 'point a local chorister or theurge at the problem', too. Since you brought them up, do you have any advice for being savvy at using Dominate and Presence? It's unrelated to the previous stuff, but I had been meaning to think a bit more on how to properly use them.

>I figure it's why the Camarilla has less of an Infernalist problem than the Sabbat does.
I figured that I had more to do with how Humanity is the mainstream Path there (if they haven't been incredibly infiltrated by Baali and other threats officially believed to be gone, I think I remember hearing some theories about that but little about their validity)

>>98655497
Worth noting that vampiric immunity to possession also explicitly includes demonic influence. Demons cannot possess vampires, period. Makes for some interesting social jockeying in trying to steal each other's minions.
>>
>>98655643
>are those magics untouched by infernalism
Depends on who you ask. Dur-An-Ki (the Assamite "school") is sometimes accused of being somewhat demonic. Setite Sorcery, if one is inclined to crossover anyway, is almost certainly a little wyrm corrupted. Baba Yaga's "school" of blood magic never got properly codified, and Cretheus is more than happy to engage in transactional infernalism (demon summoning/binding/bargaining) but no Path of Evil Revelations mwahaha sell my soul stuff. The existence of self-taught blood mages means one could theoretically DIY it based on principles entirely divorced from the infernal.

>do you have any advice for being savvy at using Dominate and Presence?
I do. Granted, this is all YMMV based on game version, what dots you have access to, etc. With both of them, the trick is that sometimes less is more. Spamming it tends to make you lazy and worse, makes your presence very obvious. Sometimes all you need is a subtle command, or a light bit of Presence boosting a mundane attempt at persuasion. It can even make it harder for the mark to realize they're under your power.

Another important factor is to pick your targets well based on what your goal for them is. If you want to exert control over a large number of men, go for someone in charge, and preferably one that's well liked so their underlings will be less likely to question a strange order now and then. If you want a passive spy, go for someone that's not terribly high profile, but can move fairly freely. If you want a disposable body, pick someone who won't be missed.

When using Presence, it's important to consider the temperament of your mark. When using Dominate, consider your wording for lengthier commands. Lastly, if someone catches on that you're using their head like putty, you have two options. Utterly enslave them or kill them. No half measures, that's how you get dramatically undone by your victim.

>Besides whatever the Tremere have (I'm guessing they have something), what anti-demon tricks do vampires have?
spirit manipulation is a common path in many blood sorcery styles that just shuts down bane spirits

contact with vitae causes torment on elohim which the baali been retconned into having used for the most part. demon thralls can be put under any of the social powers vampires have which stops them from doing the rituals that a earthbound needs to gain faith from them (without ravaging them which is only a 1 time thing) which in turn heavily reduces the power of the demon

there is a obtenerbration and fortitude combination power that pretty much shuts down demons and infernalists ability to hurt you

old clan tzimisce and molochim baali made a koldun path (of the well) that is just mean to feature in a demon heavy chronicle because it makes the complete fooder from having their powers nulled to having their true name tortured out of them to the demon just being fully absorbed by the vampire and sealed inside

>When they were fighting the Baali wars or whatever and were faced with demons/banes/whatever the infernalist of the week dug up from below, what options did they have that would work on them?
when they been fighting baali they had in one war the assamite sorcerers and warrior salubri (of which at least a few had true faith) and their bloodline founders and in the end Set himself with his sorcerers showed up and sank the island the baali been on

in another mesopotamian lasombra cultists just washed the entire baali army with a huge wave of obtenebration

in yet another the eldest showed up himself, but then got friendly fired by samiel the leader of the warrior salubri

so it was less "let's use anti demon powers" and more "let's overpower them"

Because they do these things for the right reasons. Verbena human sacrifice is typically consensual and done for the greater good, the example usually given of how evil Verbena blood magic is, is a man willingly and knowingly surrendering his life to his witch bride in order to save their village from famine. The Verbena take the oldest and most primordial magic and they use it for the benefit of their communities. They're driven by a love of life and family and represent a much more romantic approach to black magic than anything that the Nephandi have to offer.

No, the exact word is that they would need to know soon if they would have to move, not that they were already preparing to move. As for the man himself, there's no screaming or struggling or refusal from the guy, nor is there any indication that this is not the way of things for the tribe. If this was horrific non-consensual human sacrifice to appease demons, the rest of the tribe would have put the priestesses to death long before that scene takes place, or do you think that they were blissfully ignorant of their chieftain's death in the following days? This is their way of life, and according to those traditions, sacrifice was needed in order for that land to receive rain. She slashed at him when she felt that he was satisfied and when his seed was within her, so when he had orgasmed. She was also naked at the time, so I don't imagine there was anywhere hidden for her to pull the ritual knife from. I think you're performing a lot of mental gymnastics in order to assume that this culture led by these priestesses had an aversion to the blood sacrifice that they practised, or that they were unwilling participants in it.
There are certain situations in which such sacrifice is admirable, when it is people sacrificing themselves for the greater good of others, such as the chieftain giving his life to bring rain for his tribe or the father giving his life for the health of his son. There are also situations where it's horrible, where it isn't anyone sacrificing anything, but priests ritually slaughtering the unwilling. To sacrifice is to give something up for the benefit of another and the Verbena generally abide by that definition, rather than the Aztec ritual murder that you point out.
Modern Syndicate soul rape of their employees actually has a lot more in common with Aztec ritual murder than Verbena traditions of sacrifice, actually.

Salubri Warriors can shine sunlight from their eye, get holy flaming swords, and pull demons into dream combat where they can fight on more even footing and diablerize otherworldly beings. Though most of that is low generation stuff.

Anon, you are the only one here doing mental gymnastics. This is literally just the bad end of Farcry 3. Look up that scene and how "Consensual" it was when the protagonist was suddenly murdered.
> I think you're performing a lot of mental gymnastics in order to assume that this culture led by these priestesses had an aversion to the blood sacrifice that they practised, or that they were unwilling participants in it.
Why do you think we're talking about the verbena preistess'es concent and not THE GUY BEING MURDERED???
>There are certain situations in which such sacrifice is admirable
...Anon, True Magick will never be one of those times. The sacrifice is a Focus. It's literally an unnecessary component that only exists because the mage made "Live Sacrifices" part of their paradogm. A hermetic or a chorister could have healed the village with funny words or by organizing a choir song.
This is why the verbena are Exactly like the aztecs and their "Ritual Murder", because it's literally the same practice. It's murdering people you don't need to murder only because it makes magic slightly easier in a way you don't need murder to accomplish.

So, not only do you assume that someone must be completely unwilling when there is no text suggesting that they are and when the circumstance (an entire culture built around following priestesses who perform blood sacrifice) suggests they are okay with this tradition, and not only do you assume that I was refer to the priestesses when I was talking about the culture in question, but you assume that every mage in the entire setting has a fundamental awareness of the nature of true magic and how it works, on top of your refusal to contend with the present day industrialised soul rape being performed by Primal Utility practitioners, also known as the Syndicate. A gun which has been very popular for every market and something they still advertise as wherever they can as the cheapest gun you can get your hands on. The sort of thing that could sit in a bog for 30 years and you could still pull out and shot. They would have produced at a loss and made 10s of millions of units to make sure as much of the world was saturated with easy to access war weapons as possible.

Something like and Ak47 or a Sten gun but more reliable. The iconic guns of the setting should be something Pentex made.

And if some genetically modified seeds are accidentally carried by that same wind to your land, and you hadn't bought from Pentex? Well, now you are a thief of a Pentex patent and will be sued into oblivion.

And of course, the Pentex patent is designed to be as broad as possible, so if you independently try to make another crop resistant to Pentex pesticide it might be a violation of Pentex ownership. And of course, the accidents may not always be accidents when it benefits the company.

>Have them pull a dupont and pollute the waters first so they can clean them after
Maybe not from their own branch, that'd be too obvious except maybe at the start of the story. The werewolves just got done with the Pentex deniable assets polluting the river... and then they find out that it was not the overall plan, it was an excuse to slander the reputation of the current purifying plants and replace them.

And while Pentex Water will be not be polluting the water in any way except spiritually... other Pentex branches (which the general public doesn't know are part of the same conglomerate) will begin dumping more pollutants into the water as a cost saving measure, because those fancy new water plants will clean it up anyway right?

Thus presenting the werewolves with a problem they can't easily solve with the tools they are good at.

(I'm guessing you meant the overall species and not literal angels)

>Drakonskyr is weird because he is from 1e before infernalism was really put together, but it should that tiamat was in control for most of the time and could seal him
That's why I wondered if it might have been adjacent to banes of madness (Drakonskyr's domain is very themed around betrayal, even if this is portrayed as its obsession because it feels betrayed), since Drakonskyr was in control for most of Rome. Although granted Drakonskyr had to work for that control, breaking Tiamat's Humanity over the years to one step short of wassail.

Otherwise... I don't know, could it have been brute forced if Drakonskyr was powerful enough? No clue what would happen if something like a Maeljin Incarna or a Talon of the Wyrm possessed a vampire.

Or maybe it could be due to whatever magic Tiamat used when she originally summoned Drakonskyr and wanted its help? It needed into Tiamat to grant her the power she wanted, she helped it because she still didn't know better... and now it can get the control with far greater ease than it ordinarily would be able to: it wouldn't be able to replicate it if it was pushed out of her, but its entire issue is that Tiamat keeps it from leaving.

all earthbound are former angels aka elohim but not all fallen angels are archdukes although baal is mentioned as getting close to that level because of his investment into the (nergalist) baali despite the fact that he was just a hellknight (common elohim < hell knight < lord < duke < archduke) before the fall and some worship kupala who was also retconned into a earthbound in the same book (devil's due) so their highest demonic patrons can reach that level

Within the context of the original run of World of Darkness, they were on the money, as the Apocalypse really was right around the corner.
As of W20, it turns out that they were partially in the wrong, because the Apocalypse is a long and painful slog rather than a climactic battle, though it's hard to say if the Apocalypse will last for long enough for any future generations to fight in it.
As of W5, it doesn't matter, because they failed to stop the Apocalypse anyway and now Gaia is dying, so it would've been pointless to make more Garou when they'd be born into a dying world that they couldn't save.

we know what happens there because of the herschafts of the wyrm dark thaum path and the Maeljin Incarna can only take over for very short times akin to a frenzy and only if the vampire fails a willpower roll beside that a vampire who rolls well enough can in theory keep them sealed forever

so if you want to take the story of Drakonskyr as is with long periods of control and such then it would have to be quite above them for the story to work, but the truth just is that 1e vtm demons are just build differently like the first sabbat book has a lesser warrior demon who could beat the shit out of Zhyzhak which is obviously not compatible with any later books

it's the same book/edition that also has the path of hellfire do double the damage it ends up doing later and ignore fire immunity

COfD is honestly far more interesting than WOD to me in some aspects, and depending on who you ask, some versions of splats are generally considered outright superior. For example, I personally think Demon The Descent is far more interesting than Demon The Fallen due to exploring an entirely different cosmology than Christianity, as well as having more interesting mechanics.
It pisses me off that they just Frankensteined the mechanics and a few lore bits into V5 without understanding what they liked about those things.
What people liked about CTL, the idea of escaping from an utterly alien being functioning on entirely different logic, altered into a creature for their means, and trying to build a life after your escape, is fundamentally incompatible with what Dreaming is about.

your entire argument hinged on the fact that as population grew that people would have to concede on bread and circuses. but really hierarchies just scale dependent on the bottom, and given as the owner to labour ratio has more or less never increased in terms of labour when you start with straight up feudalism, there was not really a reason to increase QoL in the first place. Quite the opposite happened when there was a mass death of labourers which increased the value of peasants giving them the political power to argue for increased standards much like their freemen counterparts.
>>

there are only

>one mage for 250 vampires (not including kuei jin)
i don't actually know how common changelings are and wraiths might outnumber the living, but the vast majority of them don't really interact with the living world

while in cofd between 1% to 5% are supernatural depending on if you only count major splat members or everyone who is involved with anything supernatural so that's up of 80 million and 400 million people

>Does CofD have more overall supernatural activity than OWoD?
CofD covers a lot of niche shit and is allowed to have more "one off" creatures leaving the impression that there's a bigger total.
WoD has a bigger range on each supernatural to odds are they have a bigger total.
>>
>>98658681
Most of those uprisings were well financed by members of the aristocracy standing on the opposite side.

I can't wait for HTP to focus back on vampires in a big way, like Stig being on the killing end when the Prince sucks hims like a juice box or the Camarilla being told by Pentex that there are three non-Wyrm lupines in their turf and putting a blood-hunt on them.

nevertheless the labour class is more of a threat when they're more numerous relative to the owner class, while each individual labourer has more value when they're fewer in number, hence the need to mollify them with bread and circuses that are also used as a method of exploitation and resource extraction with the rise of consumerism

maybe if everyone was sub-iq but in reality all institutions scale their managerial roles because a single manager can only manage a certain amount of people
>>
>>98658760
managers are just labourers who have been deluded into thinking that they're more important than the others just because they're given an extra crumb and a shiny badge saying "you're better than them"
not all that different from the distinction between freemen and villeins when compared to the actual aristocracy, one has a couple more privileges than the other but both ultimately still answer to the same masters

Might not worry about angst since ST told me to look at spectres for inspiration. I know that I want to take over someone’s body, so perhaps I should specialize in that? I’d love to have a look at spectre specific powers too. If I believe his previous text (my last pic) I keep talents and skills, but use a specter’s physical attributes. Oh, you mess with the share,s buddy beware

They keep cutting their deals with the FAA, USA, fantastic lawyers of law
A little blip of the whistle
Cuts their bonus a little
But you can't never see what you never did saw

That path might be an interesting reference, because Feed the Wyrm (the 4th dot) mentions allowing a Maeljin to permanently inhabit their soul as a possible sacrifice that victims might be demanded to do. And House the Maeljin can be permanent with 6+ successes.

>only if the vampire fails a willpower roll beside that a vampire who rolls well enough can in theory keep them sealed forever
Looking into it, resisting Maeljin influence in House the Maeljin seems to be difficulty 8 Self-Control rolls. And the original back and forth between Tiamat and Drakonskyr was said to require Willpower 9 rolls on her part, and she has Self Control 4 Willpower 10...

So.... mayyybe? If I'm mathing right Tiamat's roll is harder than Maeljin's but not for Tiamat specifically. Something like 83% for Self Control 5 Difficulty 8, 89% for Willpower 10 Difficulty 9, and 76% for Self Control 4 Difficulty 8 unless I botch my math completely somewhere.

So maybe something like a particularly beefy Maeljin would be a good analogue? Idk. On the other hand, the Maeljin in the dark thaumaturgy can only try to take over once per night, while Tiamat is dealing with that every single turn...
