Don’t worry guys! The subject is just suffering from Arcane Fate.

Obsession is proof to me that having a demon waifu would actually be the best thing ever.
Oh compasses do point to the Pole of Earth, neat
Are there any lore examples of a soul getting exalted, dying, reincarnating, and then by random chance getting exalted again?
>>98665414The Sidereal's Rising Butterfly Prayer makes somewhat clear that it can/has happened, but that ultimately Exaltation comes down to the directions of Heaven and work of Lytek, and not random chance.
>>98665398I wonder if you could make a compass with five needles, each pointing to a different Elemental Pole. That should allow for quite accurate determination of your position, I believe.
>>98665646Well, the reason the compass works is supposed to be because of the properties of white jade specifically, so I wouldn't expect you to be able to do that without making an artifact. White jade is attracted to white jade is the particular property I'm talking about but it's not the same for e.g. red to red or black to black. You'd have better luck making a white jade needle that points towards sources of other kinds of jade, since it's the mix of 'resonates with earth' and 'jade works well together' that does it iirc.
>>98664464Any ETA for Agents of Heaven yet?
>>98665672>Well, the reason the compass works is supposed to be because of the properties of white jade specifically, so I wouldn't expect you to be able to do that without making an artifact. In addition to the other compasses needing to be artifacts, or possibly needing weird materials to function, the Wyld shifting the borders, and moving the Poles, thanks to Wyldstorms in the Age of Sorrows would make them ever so slightly inaccurate whenever that happens. Though on that thought, I don't know if distance can really be calculated all that well when dealing with things "in" the Wyld. Hell that might be a good explanation for other Direction compasses don't work well, the Wyld constantly screws with the distance
>>98665646You just need 5 dragon blooded
>>98667684Yes?
>>98667761I'm just posting stuff I find neat
>>98665414That sounds like an Exigent or a Liminal. Exalted dies, gets revived and another Exaltation stuffed into the now empty body.
>>98665633Doesn't RBP make it so they have a peaceful and pleasant life? Being an Exalted is usually anything but peaceful. And doesn't Lytek not actually control who Exalts? Unless they changed it in 3E.
>>98665414One of the first Alchemicals did. When the Alchemical that became the Patropolis of Estasia Exalted, he regained memories of serving as a Solar in the Primordial War. The reason Estasia is so militaristic and warlike is because he believed that BECAUSE he was the only (confirmed) Twice-Exalted in all of Autochthonia, he should be first amongst equals and lead the entirety of the peoples of Autochthonia.
Are any of the Exalted able to fully heal derangements? Solars and Abyssals only seem to be able to reduce it to minor intensity.
>>98665414I used this in my ExWoD game, and before that the same concept in my Mage game. Basically the way I did it was that if the soul was new the past life would not resemble the original directly resulting in Avatar the Last Air Bender style reincarnation. If the same soul ended up with the same Exaltation/Avatar (something that happened pretty often due to Destiny/the soul leaning towards the same heroism as before) they'd look exactly the same like in Inuyasha or Zelda or Yugioh where the new one looks almost just like the old one and its practically the same person in different context. I mostly focused on the rebirths of my Exalts immediately prior, who were all...I guess lets call it 'true reincarnation', where both the mortal soul and immortal exaltation are present both times.
>>98670047Soul Projection Method in Occult for some reason can cure a DerangementWhy you can't just do it with Medicine is a question for the ages
>>98670482Probably because the devs didn't want you to be able to straight up cure PTSD, schizophrenia, or autism do it it being poor rep for the disabled or some such rot.
>>98670491This.You were able to do it in old editions straight out, but they're uncomfortable with people healing derangements completely.Just revert back to the 2e versions if this annoys you. I did.
>>98670491It says you can cure congenital debilitation, so stuff like Downs, dwarfism and conjoined twins are all fair gameSomething like autism/adhd seems like it would be better represented by having Attribute/Ability dots properly assigned to be low/high as appropriate>>98670521Was it because it counted as an illness/sickness?
>>98670533Nether. Derangements were their own special thing in Ex2.X. Given how they had an abyssal in a god damn wheelchair for Essence art my theory is that they see people with disabilities being who they are because of those disabilities. I also feel like they're worried it cuts both ways, since derangements are so poorly defined and what could count as neurotypical.
>>98670546>Given how they had an abyssal in a god damn wheelchair for Essence artAh the trend of magic D&D wheelchairs continues
Twilight with Martial Arts and Occult Charms so I can literally punch spirits to death.
>>98669173>Doesn't RBP make it so they have a peaceful and pleasant life? No.>doesn't Lytek not actually control who Exalts?Prayers to him are at the very minimum efficacious at putting people into bodies destined for Dragonblooded Exaltation. And yes, Heaven (Abstract Matters specifically) does explicitly choose who Exalts as DB. Yes, this is 1e/2e. Yes, it was changed to no longer explicitly confirm this in 3e, where it is numinous.
>>98670832A god being in charge of who can exalt is against 1e/2e canon. Pretty sure it's vague there. Although 2e had a bunch of one off and poorly thought out things in it so who really knows. In all editions that I'm aware of the whole "Solar exaltations go into Lyteks closest and can be stolen from there" is canon but I haven't heard of deebs being the same way.
>>98670931Well, I told you exactly where to look, so if you haven't heard of it then that's only because you're not reading the books.
>>98670832>Yes, it was changed to no longer explicitly confirm this in 3e, where it is numinous.Good.
>>98670959Sounds like one of those late 2e editions that explicitly breaks the canon it already set up. The edition was big with that.Imagine the gods being in charge of who exalts, what a stupid change for no reason.
>>98670993Except I've already told you it was in 1e.
>>98671000>2e changes 1e lore to be more numinous.>Later exalted turns it back.>Later exalted turns it back again.>baseline 1e it's probably gods not having a thing to do with exalting either.Retcons are core to the game experience. You should see Scroll of the Monk or the stuff Infernals get up to when it comes to the canon.
>>98671012Anon. You're making shit up on this issue. Gods controlling who gets Dragonblooded Exaltation is from 1e. It's actually more explicit in 1e than it is in 2e, but it's explicit in 2e too. It's not inconsistent with the setting at large either, it's a whole thing that the Immaculate Order is much more right than wrong, and in this case that their take on reincarnation and people who act properly for their station and who are more respectable being more likely to reincarnate as Dragonblood is entirely correct even if the mechanisms behind it aren't described accurately. It ties into destiny stuff too.The only thing that's being retconned here is your feefees. Your vibes-based understanding of the setting.
>>98671105No, it's just some silliness that I can bet you oldfags have been arguing about forever. The game is pretty clear plenty of times that exaltations are divorced from gods and free flying, it's by design. To be clear, 1e and 2e contradicting themselves based on the author writing the book is how that game line worked so none of this is surprising. Just look at the canon infernal comic to see how off base things could get for previous editions. I'd also suggest reading up on older conversations because I'm pretty sure you'll see people talking about this very same topic. It feels rehashed. Try around 2013, maybe earlier.
>>98671119>i dont know what im talking about so im going to assume youre retardedok anon>my edition is good and problem is fixedYou haven't established that it is a problem in the first place.>contradictionsYou haven't found a contradiction within the editions, you've just found a lore factoid you don't like and are fucking around trying to find reasons to disregard it.
>>98671105Gods controlling who Exaltations go to is as dumb as gods being able to decide to stop Exaltations altogether, and largely for the sane reason. Gods being able to decide which souls reincarnate as people with good Breeding and a good chance of Exaltation, with there still being an element of chance to it as not every equally well-bred youth Exalts, is completely fine, though.
