Fuck I don't know if I could trust something like rustoleum. I used professional spray paints all the time for work before and most of them are pretty high build (thick) and I'd be worried about losing detail trying to get an even coat. I could give it a shot, metal models right now so not a big deal to strip them if it doesn't work.

I like the part where they forgot the Halo CE plot point of needing specific codes to activate self-destruct sequences on UNSC ships like a whole level about getting the codes from Captain Keyes and Cortana in 2 says she could blow up In Amber Clad without any indication she has the codes. I also like the part where the Gravemind took over High Charity and countless bodies, ships, and escape pods and doesn't take the opportunity to spread Flood spores across the galaxy even though holds the place for at least 4 months into Halo 3.

It's good to know nobody in 40k is that dumb.

Now it's been a while since I've played CE but as I remember that's not why they were going to get Keyes, they were trying to rescue him from the Flood because he has too much strategic knowledge in his head.

You don't even use codes to blow up the Pillar of Autumn, you toss a frag grenade in a vent to cause a wildcat destabilization of the ship's fusion core.
>I also like the part where the Gravemind took over High Charity and countless bodies, ships, and escape pods and doesn't take the opportunity to spread Flood spores across the galaxy even though holds the place for at least 4 months into Halo 3.
Doesn't he take it straight to Earth to try and stop em from activating the Ark? Though I do agree there was no reason he couldn't have been seeding spores all along the way.

I remember how Bungie used to have all those long running ARGs, dropping cryptic clues about Halo's story and stuff straight out of LOST. And like LOST, they shit the bed and went with an unsatisfactory nonsense and unsatisfactory ending. Also like Mass Effect 3.

Or HH's The End and the Death.

Writers in love with mystery boxes and the smell of their own farts should never be allowed to be in charge of anything.

Yet at the time you could find fan theories that were way better than what we got at the end.
Same with the Matrix sequels.

It all smells of writers trying to outsmart fans when they guess the plot twist or surprise at the end.

If it does turn out that the Black Lion autist really did bribe a GW sculptor could he get away with it?
I'd imagine if yes then the floodgates will open and lots of autists like Black Lion autist will be finding out who the sculptors are and then slipping them "donations" to have space marines that happen to look like their OCs with a little bit of recoloring or a piece here and there replaced.

At entertaiment companies with IPs to protect like GW, it's pretty much standard to sign NDAs regarding anything you work on while on their payroll. You can't discuss anything o accept anything from anyone outside the company.
That's what the media and marketing guys are for.
So if it happened, it was technically illegal.

The Ork codex cover is one of the weakest pieces in the book. There's some really great art in the rest of it, fortunately, aside from some reused late 2010s "This is the exact miniature in it's exact pose" pieces that noticeably stick out.

I'm just guessing so this is a fanfiction:
I think he got the commission order from GW to pump a Warhammer 40k art piece out fast and the deadline was coming really close for it on the day he got the order and he was pressed for time and contractually obligated to get it done fast so he had to work fast.

Being an actual talented artist these days sucks because of AI dangers and competition.
>art autism below
Artists had years to create a huge fight back against post modern art low effort garbage. They don't get to play the "low effort" card when criticizing AI art for being low effort when one takes a look at post modern art pieces making millions. If there was a real big movement against that low effort crap then I'd be more sympathetic.

Would Warhammer sell well in east Asia if their codexes and rulebooks had gritty anime art instead of the usual pieces codexes here get? Doesn't have to be cute anime girls.
>>

Aside from the previous complaints about beardless dwarves, I kinda like them. They feel like the least busy of the modern dorf attempts GW has had, and it is nice that they finally did just a dof (vanilla) army rather than dorf (but naked), dorf (but steampunk) or Chorf (but jewish)

>official GW oil paints
That is ridiculous to me. But it is possible GW might do it.
Really though I always thought GW stuck with nontoxic acrylic paints because they wanted to maximize paint sales. Some lads are gonna look at the toxic nature of oils or enamels and steer clear so this seems weird of GW but then again GW probably saw all those "grimdark" paint jobs of just slapping excessive oils on it and calling it pro painted and they're slow to respond to trends.

So what paint manufacturer is pushing the development and improvement of acrylic paints now?
Pro Acryl?
Vallejo?
Does GW count?

Water-soluble oil and enamel paints exist elsewhere in the art world. Making a line of those specifically for miniature painting would be a good way of differentiating their paint from regular solvent-thinned oils.

In terms of acrylic paint development, Pro Acryl makes the best miniature paint I've ever used at a better price point than GW. The only downside is a relatively limited range currently.

>Pro Acryl makes the best miniature paint I've ever used at a better price point than GW.
Very dependent on location, it's the most expensive brand in the UK (along with Duncan's stuff). I've only got two but they break almost immediately on a wet palette. Feel like airbrush paints, heavily pigmented but too thin on a brush unless you mix with something toothier. And don't finish flat and even like AK or TTC which are also on the thin side, stay streaky.

I do only have a white and payne's grey though, and they're still useful for what they can do.
>>
Do we know if the new multipart Outriders kit will be more expensive than the existing one?
>>
>>98667752
Valllejo TMM is great but expensive.
Game Color seems a bit...less metally, more painty.
Air Color metallics seem great, maybe it's the thinned down-ness.
Mecha metals are muted but decent. Good for dark metals.
Havent tried their liquid metal.

I'm curious as how to how the P3 paints from Steamforged are like now.
Also I believe that paints that come with agitators in them are bad. If they're metal there is a chance of a bad rusty ball and the whole paint is ruined. Best to just let the miniature painter decide if he wants agitators in his paints at all and whether they should be a heavy glass (if there is glass agitators that weigh as much as metals of the same size) or metal ones.

I can't say I've had the same issues on my end, personally. Thanks largely to Citadel paint's very unreliable shelf life, I've largely replaced my Citadel lineup with Pro Acryl with little bit of Vallejo and some Army Painter. I get a nice flat finish every time and great coverage with little to no thinning needed off of a wet palette. The individual bottles are cheaper here than GWs and come with more paint per container. I get that pricing is very much a regional thing, but in terms of performance it's definitely a "works on my machine" thing.
I"d still like to try out some AK acrylic paint as they seem to get good reviews and I've enjoyed their enamels for a while.

Pic semi-related, most of the non-metallics were done with Pro-Acryl.

Was watching some unit ranking video by some WAAC folks and they say that the new 'Warbuggies' Ork unit is terrible and should not be taken ever.
How? It's main gun is 14 attacks at S5 -1AP, and it gets assault, sustained hits 1 and lethal hits. (18 attacks since the 'extra attacks' have the same stats). The rivet cannon isn't great, but having devastating wounds against infantry isn't bad either.
What is 'bad' about this unit?

Not exaclty. The novel shows a DW kill team finding out how exacly a Genestealer cult breeds new hybrids and purestrains.

The marines are shown to be unwilling pawns of fucked up inqusitors.
>>
>>98667956
>In your opinion what makes 40k grimdark?
The line "you will not be missed".
A million worlds, trillions of people, from common men to decorated superhuman warriors, all disposable and dying by the scores in the meatgrinder against enemies that are even more numerous and even more powerful, and described with few half measures to be slowly but inexorably dooming the galaxy, one way or another.

The look of a fucked up servitor, or any other dozen examples of body horror, rape analogies or things done for shock value, do not significantly matter* in the setting being grimdark, just like having spotlessly uniformed high tech soldiers and gleaming demigod warriors who look like they've walked out of an ancient greek temple of an idealised golden age also do not make the setting less grimdark, as long as they all still die like nameless bitches against inhuman horrors.
Conversely you can have all the skulls, tubes and mangled flesh, flayed skin and satanic panic inducing symbology and tattered robes and raped soldiers left and right in every corner of every page from artworks to textual descriptions, but if the focus of the setting shifts from desperate/delusional/romantic last stands to the hope-filled heroics of dramatic characters with plot armors who are everywhere and do everything and conveniently share the reasonable views of the reader rather than the unreasonable ones of their unreasonable desperate world, then I'll tell you that the setting is less grimdark or no longer grimdark.

*I'm not saying that it doesn't help if it visually reinforces the theme, but it's not the core, it's not the base, it's not self sufficient or necessary

Desolators are corpo slop and left overs from the initial primaris wave*. They must have been discarded, and then recovered to fill out a release slot because they didn't have anything else at the time.

*fun fact: Desolators are the only primaris that do not have their left hands fused to thei weapons. They must have been part of the very early primaris designs.

I just can't explain how satisfying the tactile feeling is with the metal models compared to the plastic. Ill pick up metal versions of every eldar unit I think, any more I'll get/print the plastic versions.
>>
>>98668429
Well it's something so easily disproven with just pics of new models or WIP, timestamped and obviously in a house, but he refuses to do that so it's not looking good.

You head to the bridge of the Pillar to use the codes to blow it up but 343GS is a step ahead of you and he'll do something in the engine room to prevent the self-destruct sequence so that's why you end up there. Also it'd be nice if the imperium had the UNSC's naming conventions with ships like the UNSC Two for Flinching and UNSC Say My Name.

I don't know if GW CAN charge more for it
If they do, you'll just see everyone buy HH Rhinos instead because those are already slightly cheaper than 40k Rhinos. Tournament "40k models only" rules only goes so far when the proxy is also a GW product that is nearly the exact same design and nearly the exact same size.

Here I just went and grabbed the stream.
Right at the start (around 45 seconds in,) he’s showing off a part he painted before the stream. That’s just the uncolored silver, they’re going to have a gold, bronze, dark silver and gunmetal I think, all with anodized aluminum particulate instead of just color in the suspension. He paints more metallic parts in the stream if you want to skip around.

If ALL I want is chaos bits to stick on other models like spikes, evil faces, skulls, tentacles, and stuff, is there any kit that provides that without too much "wasted" plastic on the actual model? I know chaos spawn are still the go-to for gribbly bits but I can't really see any one kit that provides for the metal side.

I'm fairly new to the actual hobby, they're my first army, so I can't really comment on how they compare to other armies.
For me though these have been the pros:
> Models look good in a million different color schemes and styles, you aren't really tied to a "that's how these are supposed to look"
> kit bashing opportunities look good with a lot of the kits across the entire line (dark, aos, old world) having bits and pieces you can use to really spice up your models
> elder range has stayed very stable over the years with very very few squattings, lots of versions of models that all look amazing and are still playable in the codex. I'm painting up howling banshees from 3e right now that still look fucking amazing next to modern models
> lots of ways to build armies, from mechdar, aspect host, wraithhost, corsairs, clowns to any of those combined
> exodites mounted on DINOS
> But really there's only been ONE kit release that hasn't been top tier in 20 years

Cons:
> expensive moneywise
> vehicles that were originally sculpted in 1996/7 selling for $60-80cad. They still slap looks wise don't get me wrong
> fragile army that punishes you for the tiniest misplay
> with so many list building options it's hard to put something together
>>
>>98667362
>>98667396
I think they're supposed to be women. If it's anything like the chaos dwarf kit though there'll be enough male heads for a full unit though.
>>98667398
Agree wholeheartedly, you need braids. I think the hero actually looks pretty damn good for exactly this reason

This is an AI generated picture?
It feels like AI to me and I don't know why. Many times I've seen stuff I thought was a photo only to find it is AI. I don't know why I'm under the impression that this is AI.
The colour scheme isn't bad though. If they are real models then they're well done models.
>>
>>98669519
if you ignore nu-lore (which everyone should do), then its pretty good. rules seem to favor them pretty well, and they’re a lot less popular than marines, so you don’t have to worry about them getting dumbed down for timmy to play. I will say with jes goodwin retiring there’s a chance eldar might fall into a depression when it comes to good model releases, but that’s purely speculation.
>>

> jes goodwin retiring
The GOAT deserves his well earned rest from carrying the IP (visually) on his back. If the recent exodite release is less Jes and more new people then I'm not too worried.
>>
>>98669633
>If the recent exodite release is less Jes and more new people
Think the exodites are 100% Jess design he may have signed off of before leaving or people making them as faithful as possible as a gesture of goodbye
>>
>>98669612
Yeah it's AI. At first glance it looks like great kitbash work with 'stodes and sigmarines, but then I start trying to identify the pieces/kits used and it falls apart. Look at the standard and how the eagle head on the left is undefiled and sort of just fades into nondescript darkness. Look at the hands and weapons, particularly this dude. The fuck is going on here? Holy sloppa

Newfag here. If I wanted to get started with Red Corsairs marines what should I get? Am I good with just the chaos space marines codex or do they have their own book. >>

The way that GW does chapters now, especially for CSM- it really doesnt matter. you have a detachment, there are detachments themed around certain styles of play that fit certain subfactions but it isn't forced.

so your red corsair legionaries will play just like regular legionaries and raiders can be added to any faction of CSM, not just red corsairs.

huron can be fielded on his own or with his retinue, he can act independent of his retinue and they can both lead different units if you wanted.

Stop peddling this bs. Talk to your mates, don't brush off mental health. "Just man up" is bs that results in people not feeling like they can open up to friends and family and losing their lives. Work on yourself and your models
>>
>>98669715
G'day cunt
>If I wanted to get started with Red Corsairs marines what should I get?
You need some Legionaries as battleline for a valid list. You're limited to 2 or 3 copies of non-battleline units (e.g. Red Corsair Raiders) at 1000 and 2000 points respectively.
>Am I good with just the chaos space marines codex or do they have their own book.
They use the chaos space marine codex.
>Whats the difference between Red Corsairs Raiders and Legionaries with Red Corsairs upgrades.
They are Red Corsairs Raiders and Legionaries units, respectively. The upgrade sprue is just to make Legionaries look more like red corsairs.
>Also do I need to run Huron Blackheart's maelstrom buddies or can I just run him?
Huron and the other models in the box are two separate units. You can field just Huron.
>>
>>98669756
Yeah they account for way more deaths by suicide because of predatory bullshit by therapists teaching them to have an external locus of control instead of addressing them as MEN who need to take responsibility for themselves. It's the latter that saves men.
