Weapon maintenance is done by the lowliest of them and because they're bullied into it rather than because they want to. A beastmen just witnessing a factory would start howling in angry and start biting with the bigger ones probably choosing to take as many with him to the grave than willingly submit. Either their labor is so low skill and shit that it's not worth it or the big guys gonna revolt. Speaking of painting, I'll be working by my LGS today, wondering if you lads have any recs for paint related stuff that really saves you time/allows you to do cool stuff. Right now I have only the most basic paints. The additive and subtractive colors from AK (red, blue, yellow, green, cyan, magenta, brown, black, white) and the same in some oils. No contrast, shades, etc. Need some varnishes. Satin+matte probably? Need basing stuff. I'm painting Eldar rn, if anyone elf enjoyers have things they like to use. Picrel my dude.

>>98681953For basing I use Vallejo's European Mud, based over 150+ models with it and still have plenty. It takes color very well. Mine's brown but it has plenty of color options. I apply wash to create some contrast and then just drybrush it, add in some stones and other bits.I've also heard good things about GSW's crackle paints for bases.For cool stuff I've been using Tamiya's black panel liner, as my basic troops' armor have lot of ribs in it. If you're using oil paints as washes you know how satisfying the capillary action is with it autopooling into recesses by itself, it's exactly that but cheaper and much easier to apply. It also comes in various colors and is dirt cheap, will save the headache of mixing it all the time.

>>98681986Thank you anon! The yellow is actually mostly oil paint! Base coat was AK yellow+a touch of red. Then I mixed some oil paint roughly the same color as the base coat, then did a very thin coat on the yellow parts with it, then I put white where I think it should go, blending it gently with the first thin layer of yellow oil. And repeat the same for the darker shades. Shading yellow is the tough part. I was having trouble mixing a shade that looks good. Very easy to end up making it look muddy, and that did happen in some spots, but I think I got the recipe down. Actually I might just pick up some premixed yellow shades. . .The wash bottles are used ink bottles, although what brand, no clue.
