I thought I was going insane until I saw the video. Apparently GW has a mandated canonical sound for bolters that everyone has to use in cutscenes. Except they can use whatever they want in-gameplay. >https://youtu.be/uHXqTJFVDOg?si=Wk_Imopo6_ivTF3f This is how it normally sounds. Meanwhile >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2j6NWxDyuE this is how it sounds in a cutscene>nigga, what the fuck are you talking aboutI think that canonical sound that GW uses for bolters is bad. Just had to get this off my chest. Thanks.
>>98682130Do you have more examples of the brand sound (tm)?
>>98682130The space marine 1 bolter sound is the best one. Not grating on the ears but still powerful sounding.Except the heavy bolter. That one was a mistake.
>>98682139https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-yiTAKbCKcHere as wellAnd the official animationhttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/b5KDzudmxn8I felt like I was going insane when I started noticing it
>>98682019>so its just greed isnt it?Its not even profit seeking. Which is expected.I do houses for a living and even with all this price increases for all the materials needed. The only reason I had to actually increase prices is a result of the government doing something retarded like introducing a regulation that just makes construction more expensive or building operation more expensive.Like for example building needing a secure place for the "female harassment report book". What it is suppose to be and what makes it secure? No idea is not written in the regulation, but now we have to add personal and a specific secure room for a notebook that no one can use, because the retarded regulation does not mention who can use the stupid book.
>>98682120I just bought out all the chaos vindicators but I would never ever ever ever ever give GW money again, at least until the next price increase.

>>98682114Nice. I was going to buy Necromunda kits for making Aberrants & other Characters but I found some stuff dirt cheap from the combat patrol magazines. I'll still grab the Hive Hanger's On sprue for making Bio/Iconward/Abominant/Nexos/Sanctus from it.
If GW was smart they'd make highly customizable and poseable kits so they don't need 5 different sprues for the same guy.Instead they take 1 unit and make it 5 different kits, then make new systems, then make entire new ranges and new factions.Everybody is losing except the shareholders

>>98682151To add to this, I also noticed that they switched to using Space Marine 2 assets for the space marine models, but are not using cadian models from the same game, for some reason.
>>98682181SM2 cadians are middlehammer cadians
>>98682160GW can move production to any other country if they wanted, UK is great at shooting themselves in the foot but eventually they will force GW to outsourcr just to meet global demand.
>>98682184Yeah, makes sense.God the nu-cadians are weird looking.
Marines points increases not massive. Today's battle report list comes in at around 1950 points in current costs. Assuming combi lt and infiltrators go down in points, and dreads and scouts don't change, it's not a big price rise on tacticus marines and gull man.
>>98682209I'm still trying ot figure out a theme for my nucadians because I want them to be a not-cadian regiment. Might go for the studio colorscheme or a variant of it.I'd love some oldschool cadians modernized, go harder on the british/D-day look.
>>98682162Funniest part is that statistically speaking you are more likely to get hit by a donkey than the harassment that code is asking for. The entire thing exist because the local government was run by out of touch lefties that copy gringo's schizo ideas. As a result new housing in that area can only be afforded by people buy property for renting. Meanwhile the area where the actual 1% of the country lives has cheaper newer housing.Absolute insanity.
>>98682221I am not sure why people even thought it would be a massive point increase. A point increase means that players would have to have less models to play. And stat-creep forces the people to chase FOMO factions. T7 base custards and T8 terminators incoming btw.
>>98682233nta but I dared to hope they'd change the status quo. I'm sorry.

>>98682240>Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
>>98682171New players don't know this used to be a thing so GW can slowly reintroduce the kits as "improvements thanks to technology" thus selling more models to their ever growing fanbase thanks to all the clueless normies Bricky and Space Marine 2 brought into Warhammer. It's not like any of the big youtubers will tell them how hard they're getting ripped off by GW.
>>98682221Infiltrators from 110 to ~80Combi LT from 95 to ~50Intercessors, Infernus and Desolation squads up 15 each (60)Leaves Gulliman and Victrix up a combined ~60 points.

>>98682265>GW can slowly reintroduce the kits as "improvements thanks to technology"I wish. I genuinely wish.>>98682262Sorry I just did it again my bad
>>98682241I know, I already got 10 but GW is asking the 34 euros for 5 aberrants while I can get 10 Goliath gangers for the same price. Aberrants kit come with extra arms and hammers and whatnot so I can always change the heads and arms.
>>98682265The funniest part is that if GW had any business sense, they would've quadrupled their profits by being better to the consumer. Gundam is about as old as Warhammer and makes over a billy in a year, mostly via selling gunplay and basically not existing in the western market. Shit is legit fucked when me collecting perfect grade (the most detailed, largest scale) models for gundam is cheaper than buying a baneblade.
>>98682274>guys of my age also doing it is just sadYou ever wondered what happens to people who are retarded as kids? Yeah they grow up to be retarded teenagers, and then retarded adults. If you wonder why the world doesn't work right, it's because of that.
>>98682286Do you happen to know how big the new Goliath kits are in comparison to the old ones?
>>98682274I have an acquaintance who will agree that the 4th's implementation of everything was better, shit on 11th, and then when you ask to play 40k with them they'll insist on playing 11th because it's the newest and best supported edition. They don't even play tournaments and actively shit on anyone who attends them. It's so cringe. Some people just can't help sucking off corporations.
>>98682287Buddy you don't think the anime running for half a century might have something to do with that?
>>98682265The problem with multipose kits was that they didnt actually feel or look that multipose due to how you had to make each part interchangeable with all over components.Monopose kits are a different approach, models look more dynamic when you only have 1 or 2 copies of a unit.
>>98682287Gundam sells on quality. GW sells based on 11th grade math theory that says you need to keep raising prices until your profits decline before doing anything about your product.
>>98682291Minicompare has a few models named Goliath 2026, they're of various sizes. Some are smaller, some larger.
>>98682287>if gunpla ever becomes popular in the west all the kits will become expensive as fuckAAAAACCCCKKKKKK
>>98682300Literally what is stopping GW from making their own? It's not my fault that their attempts at it were all horrible. GW's inability to promote their product and refusal to price it properly makes it a pain for newfags to get into. Space Marine 2 did more for marketing warhammer than their entire Warhammer+ shitshow through it's entire run.
>>98682300nta but he's right. As for the animeS (plural), the demographics meet but aren't the same.40k doesn't have an anime but it's been going around for nearly 50 years too. It's well known and documented that treating your employees well and with respect increases performance, and treating the customers well and with respect also increases sales. But many people don't like the truth that money/profit isn't the point, it's just a means to an end: ego. They get a kick out of scamming you, it's simple as that. It's not a warhammer thing, it's a universal thing. They will run themselves into the ground and then blame the haters or the customers not being loyal/paying enough
>>98682301>buy Kabalite kit>Buy wych kit>effortlessly kitbash>Now have a pair of wholly unique units that are clearly dark eldar wyches and kabalites with literally 0 effort convertingDo you have brain damage or are you new? >>98682287>if GW had any business sense, they would've quadrupled their profitslmao they're making record profits every year, dipshit
>>98682312GW is like the government where they only go for the cheapest bidder, just look at most warhammer games.
>>98682291The Goliath Kit easily accommodates the Aberrant kit.If you have some spare bits from Aberrants the kitbashing is easy.
>>98682320>They'd make 4x the money>lol idiot they make 1x the money every yearBased retard
>>98682320>lmao they're making record profits every year, dipshitNot my point. Bamco handles the IP better, getting themselves over a billion freedom units in profit. Meanwhile GW only made 200kk in profit in the same year of 2025.

>>98682375>but the real party piece is the new 1DP Deathwatch Support detachment that uses the same detachment rule as the Black Spear Task Force, but allows a 500 point force of Deathwatch to be taken in any Space Marines army.Wonder what this means for the IA Deathwatch units in the future.
I am going to make my army 250 points of marines, 250 points of deathwatch, 250 points of agents and 250 points of knights
>>98682319Dark Eldar are uniquely easy to convert and kitbash because the whole range was updated at once just before monopose became the new thing and the army is mostly infantry units at exactly the same scale. Including characters on 25mm bases.
>>98682372I don't mean to cape for the company that is screwing me harder than my wolfcut goth gf, but they are relying on "old guard" and nostalgia a great deal. Even men younger than thirty are veering into the territory of RETVRN TO TRADITION now, which is one of the main motivators for nostalgiabait mini releases and primaris designs being downplayed or revised in more recent kits. They're basically trying to have their cake and eating it too, with mixed results. They don't want new people who will just buy a few kits and then move on to other brands/3d prints, but rather cultivate a fanaticism that demands brand loyalty. It's essentially like being in a cult at this point. Try it next time you're out and about at your LGS and you spot someone picking out some Warhammer minis. Chat them up a little bit, ask them if there's any other system that they're into. Chances are, this is the only wargame that they care about and find the others uninteresting for any amount of vague reasons.

>>98682339>Deathwatch are just... Black MarinesNot actually jumping on this dude's bait but this is genuinely a problem not specifically for Deathwatch but in general. 1/5th of the loyalist legions have black schemes with minimal accents - they *both* use white as their accent color (why on earth Iron Hands don't use Mars red outside of their tech Marines I don't know). A third loyalist chapter with high visibility in the setting and rules uses a predominantly black scheme, to the most success because it uses two additional accent colors and has a unique set of design cues accompanying the normal Marine wardrobe. And then as mentioned we have Deathwatch, again with an all black scheme, but more successful than the first two again because it has additional accent points to make them interesting - full silver shoulder pad, and chapter markings which can be varied across the army for visual interest.Tl;Dr - Raven Guard and Iron Hands are visually similar not only to each other, have little to make them interesting, and also are up against two other chapters/groups of Marines with high visibility who pull of black-dominant designs better.

This will just KILL any growth moving forward.

During Black Week they were selling them for 50% off, crazy times. I've a feeling they're gonna do the same with Armageddon.
>>98682300It's not a single anime though. The kits that sell best are of suits that were last seen 30+ years ago. The new shit has been hit-or-miss. ESPECIALLY the last 2/3 ones. IBO had great designs though.

There's this guy I follow on IG named Yeongho Kim (zero_five_kim) who does just really cool things."I made a Necron Warrior’s skull. After looking through various sources, I was able to find a nearly complete anatomical image. I’m a bit confused about the nostrils, though—some depictions show them, while others don’t. Aside from that, the mouth or jaw is connected by three wires, and I think I could create a variation where those wires are dangling. Although it’s never been done in a miniature before, it might be interesting to have the part representing the brain oozing out."

>>98682887>>98682896Ik it's scawy and all to take risks but GW really needs to get their heads out of their asses and start doing anything they can to get people INTO the hobby instead of driving existing fans out. The titus model, though criticized by a lot of hardcore fans, was actually a great idea for this, as was the introduction of the combat patrol system. They need to do more stuff like that and they need to do anything they can to lower prices. Ik it's hard to do because you have to sell x number of a given unit to break even on the up front cost but if they committed to keeping the same models in production for longer that would help a lot. Unfortunately I think they are retards. The fact that they took down the Astartes series, which is one of the best warhammer animations ever produced AT NO COST TO THEM AT ALL, and then paywalled it behind a service that only the most invested fans will ever buy, is proof of this imo. They literally had an advertising miracle from the gods arrive and they shot it in the face.

>>98682983I dont think they really need to do anything considering how well theyre doing
>>98682983That's one of the parts that bothers me. Normally when you try to get someone hooked on a product you go in with low spending but larger returns, which then narrows as you progress past introductory kits into special units, characters etc.But now even the introductory kits are ridiculously priced, so poor Thomas is not gonna get his Prie-Marys Marines bought by his mum any longer.
>>98682995>Who cares if the fountain is cracked and leaking, we never had this much water before
>>98682995If you look at it through only profit, yes. They sell miniatures and sell them they do.However, they could be selling a lot more and retain a stronger consumerbase if they weren't retarded.
>>98682903Give me your LoC if you're gonna use it you fuck
>>98682019I have to believe my conspiracy that GW is making marines more elite is actually a move to just make everyone more elite and thus reduce the amount of models in a 2K army. They know they are pricing out people and thus are trying to reduce the barrier to entry by having 2K point armies have less models. They will never lower prices but if 2K army costs the same they will hope that they won't alienate as many newcomers.

>>98682019Are you gonna stop buying from GW? No? Then why are you complaining? Their strategy is clearly working, they jack up the prices, people keep buying them, and their profits only grow larger.
>>98683005>wagies larping as fountain inspectorsOh my days>>98683025That pic is sovl
>>98683025Half the barrier for entry is the time it takes to build and paint an army you can then use. 2k is a lot of space marines at the moment, and judging by today's battle report won't be going any lower with the new codex.
>>98683044This is a bit of a wide question, there's certainly already plenty of ways to build an army that costs more than that, the average is mathing together some extremes
>>98683026Then paint it, anon. PAINT IT
>>986829451. buy more paints2. most paints brands have a fluorescent green color as a technical option, they're super thin and saturated with pigment and you use them by applying a white undercoat and then layering the fluorescent on top, the "fade" occurs partially through density of where you put it and partially by capillary action. 3. if you really don't want to do this, then looking at the masterclass paints, use gladeshard, mix it really thin, and put a bunch of thin layers in varying density starting from the center of the glow effect going outwards
>>98683048You pretty much only need green and white dude lolWhite is an extremely useful color to have anyway just grab some
>>98683048as long as your green is brighter than the rest of the model it'll look a bit like glow. you don't need fluorescent paints.

>>98683084people hated them
>>98683084the rods were so fucking cool bros…
>>98683084The Starcraft game brought back transparent green plastic features....and then they fucked it up by making many of them core parts of the model assembly process instead of aftereffects.
>>98683100Can't you just paint them?
>>98683063also on point 3 by thin i mean dilute it to the point that you can see through it on your palettethe downside to layering super diluted paints is that they take forever to dry and you can end up with the coffee stain effect where the dried paint withdraws to the edges instead of to the densest spot
>>98683100??I think theyre fineThey look cool and if you want to paint them you can and if you dont you just put tack over them while you paint and you can end up with the cool translucent effect
>>98683084>whyThe guns were finicky and required specific machines and plasticThey are very cool and it's sad they went away, but the new ones are a rare modern GW win, it was a very elegant solution to the problem, so I'm not too peeved about it
>>98683064If I go into a hobby store and only grab white, I will look like a massive faggot. Hobby stores scare me. But ordering online poses a risk to my dogs because Amazon drivers try to kill my dogs if I have taken them outside and they happen to drive up. What the fuck do I do
>>98683025If each army is cheaper to collect GW might be able to encourage people to collect different armies instead of sitting on the space marine farm forever.
>>98683132They'd accomplish that by finally making army rules freely available, as it is every new army being price-gated by the purchase of a new book is a bad hurdle
>>98683167I hate hate hate hate hate HATE hobby stores. I go there and there's some fat bearded fucking monkey or a teenager next to the register, and I'm surrounded by "nerds" wearing their "nerd paraphernalia" and conversating like autists and I just want to sprint out the moment I get in, I HATE them and I'm only going to hate them less when I earn the right to actually play a game via a fully painted army. But I have to work my way there first. And even then there's transport and scheduling and maybe it'll be easier to just stay at home and paint forever.
>>98683025Imagine if we went back to a time where a dreadnought would be a centerpiece model? Wild.
>>98683156Yeah why would I even give an army chance without knowing their rules. And I'm not gonna pay for a codex. Off course 3rd party sites exist so that's why I have bought other armies.

>>98683437Hallowed Martyrs lead by Vahl is very solid and very popular, you can't go wrong with that. In fact, last I checked, it was the most popular and highest performing combo.Chous is fun and fluffy and it does have a couple cool strategems (Exorcists give JPI Devastating Wounds and JPI give Exorcists +1 to hit, so you actually feel like they're spotting for each other, rules reflecting lore will always be kino) and it has a 15 point enhancement that gives a canoness jump into reserves every turn which is strong. If JPI and Exorcists are your favorite units then do it. I actually like the trend of detachments just buffing units that are the player's favorite, it feels like you get to customize your army based on what you like. I have Celestine and 10 jpi painted up, and I love them so much, but I always run out of points. I don't really want to leave home without a couple immolators, a couple castigators, Vahl and her goons, a couple battleline for scoring, and the sacresant brick to contest objectives. Those are sort of the bread and butter, so what you take after that is highly contested.
>>98683473>>98683479>>98683481nta but the models look nice and they aren’t unpleasant, so I don’t care. and decalfag posting his slop models every thread is the least problematic thing about him.
phobos shadow and shock force both seem pretty good, shame I have to pick one. shock getting reroll wounds while hidden is one of the better detachment rules on first impression. unclear whether umbral evasion lasts for a single attack or the whole shooting phase.

>>98683044There are already kits that cost more than $1 per point with todays prices.Tyranid Warriors are $65 for a box of three. 60 points for the brood.Biovores are $53 for a box of one. >>98683463The repentance idea isn't about people who have left the hobby or game, but about those who have broken from the approved orthodoxy being punished/"pushed out."It's the blatant disdain GW has for grognards with their armies made of firstborn marines, hoping that they can bring in more newcomers to offset the old (and string a few of the olds back in to buying new models so GW can double-dip on them by forcing them to do a "test of faith"). It's the "won't you think of the hecking billion dollar company when you 3d print that model" sentiment among certain people. That's what I mean.I know I'm not explaining it very well, sorry about that.

So far I've been sat on adding another Immolator (from 1 to 2) and splitting a squad of Novitiates with her taking the melee half and using the other half as home base campers with a Simulacrum to generate miracle dice and do some backline screening. I can't wrap my head around fitting a Palatine into Sacresants and she feels like a waste to run solo; maybe she'd be good on Insidiants?

>>98683623Palantine is actually good with Novitiates because they give her rerolls to hit as well as reroll advance+charge, and she gives them Lethal Hits, which are directly synergistic abilities. The unit loses Infiltrate if a Palantine joins them, but if you split them in an Immolator, the half that doesn't have the Palantine can still Infiltrate. That can be the half with the Simulacrum. This is one of those things that is synergistic and sounds good on paper, but then you look at what's out there and remember that you're not actually going to beat much in cc. But if you shoot this Palantine with full rerolls unit at something like an opponent's MSU you can get the job done, and the Novitiates themselves are OC2, so the ideal situation is you bully a smaller MSU and then flip that objective.Insidiants can be kitted for close combat and the Palantine benefits from their Quarry rerolls, so that set up is fine too. Insidiants are cool models, especially the sword+shield one, so I always find an excuse to include them, and I do plan on getting into Killteam to use them there too. Insidiants are also cool because sometimes your opponent is just randomly a psyker army or has a psyker centerpiece and they pull double duty. Randomly tagging a psyker is pretty common these days.

>>98683933Including the command squad gives the Infernus another attack per model, so they'd have 40 attacks per 5, or 80 per 10, on that 25-man squad of guardsmen. To show my work, 3 attacks default, plus 1 per 5 from blast 1 (25 is 5 groups of 5, so 5 extra), is 8 per model. 5 models doing 8 each is 40 attacks. Unless I'm misreading how blast 1 works vs. how blast used to work since it didn't have a number grade before, at least on anything I'm used to.It might take 2 units attacking to wipe the group of 25 instead of just the infernus squad, but the chances of those guardsmen surviving more than that 1 turn aren't very high no matter how you math it out.

Aggressors look dogshit too considering all power fists stay at S8Even with the new +1S within 9'' it fails to reach the new MEQ SvT breakpoint.Quick math says a full squad of 6 aggressors charging into a squad of intercessors is gonna kill either 2 or 3 models and fail to even flip the objective. Before even any potential clap back.Yeah, nah. If they stay at the exact same points as they are now, they might get to at leas feature in some flavorful imperial fist casual meme lists until other factions get their own codexes. But if they go up in points then GW is probably unironically sowing the seeds to hammerfall bunker them all next edition.

>>98684070Now is the perfect time for a new army, my friend.
>>98684043Against a 10-man squad, that's 8 attacks (4 base, plus 2 for every 5 models in the target unit) per flamer and it has two of them. So 16 shots at S6, AP-2, 2D with Dev Wounds. And because it's Torrent, it ignores cover so that's almost guaranteed to wipe a 10-man Marine squad.

>>98684460KT's current rules also suck ass, the last edition was better.GW's best games are MESBG and BB.Even AoS has more enjoyable rules and balance than 40k
Scout boltguns are rapid fire 1 a1 instead of a2, I think I was planning on giving them shotguns anyway but now I can build them
Wait they got buffed before they had to replace the boltgun with a combat knife they get it for free along with their boltgun
From my perspective the worst pre-10th days of GW were like the 7th era with the custom army structures that encouraged you to buy like 3 banebades, 8 leman russes, etc. That's as naked corporate greedy as I remember them being. And then I think 8th/9th had huge probems with powercreep but actually managed the spotlight and letting each faction do their own cool things quite well. But 10th, especially after Space Marine 2 vidya came out, I felt really trended back into that era of greed. Every new release was pushed. Ultramarines, not just space marines, dominated the releases from the midpoint of the edition. 11th really looks like it's continuing this trend. I wonder if there will be a backlash like there was with 7th.

>>98684508So many units and characters have ways to ignore or double doctrines that it doesn't really matter. It won't be a real limitation.
>>986845124th is solid rules wise but it’s Tome design wildly veers between soulful and worst thing you’ve seen with little middle ground
>>98684512The early codex equivalents in AoS for 4th were really bland
>land speeders can deepstrikeNice. Bit weird we still have both assault cannons and gatling cannons, I don't see the point of the distinction, especially when assault cannons seem to be only on land raiders and terminators now.
>>98684471>Even AoS has more enjoyable rules and balance than 40kEvery bad design choice in modern 40k stems directly from AoS.
>>98682274Got some examples?
The eradicator multi melta rules make me hopeful that when our codex drops us sister players will finally get some anti vehicle. So hopefully like retributors will get a similar mode.Heck even regular multi meltas becoming S10 is a nice boost.
>>98684253This is Marneus Calgar's college roommate that came out of nowhere, right?
>>98684536Not true, AoS doesnt have mass rerolls, lethal/dev wounds arent on every weapon, things dont have a ridiculous amount of attacks and damage, the game doesnt break if the battlefield isnt littered with terrain, and it actually has casting/dispelling/miscasts like 40k did prior to 10th.
>>98684512AOS 2nd edition was one of the greatest fucking game ever, could use a little balance tweaks because there were some cheese lists but hit the balance between simplicity and in depth customization perfectly.AOS 4th removed all spells/relics/warlord traits from the core rulebook and each codex had half as many detachments/spells/relics/warlord traits as before and they also removed several gameplay mechanics such as heroes getting to do various actions and monsters being able to go on rampages and do shit like gain bonuses for charges or destroy terrain pieces, it also removed morale outright as a mechanic and the codexes themselves were also super bland and many units got simplified and had weapon profiles mergedand AOS 4th stopped putting points in the books which is super anti consumer
>>98684512There's no question AoS has better rules than 40k. The problem is the tomes in AoS, not the core rules. The designers were extremely reserved and lolrandumb with the initial tomes, and it took until IDK, Khorne, for them to start actually exploring the design space.

>>98684553>Not true, AoS doesnt have mass rerollsLast time I played AoS my army (or what was left of WoC anyways) had every single re-roll. Every single ability was a re-roll. It had so many re-rolls half of them were redundant because I had several sources of the same re-rolls. It fucking sucked.

>>98684581Possibly, GW did say most of these weapon buffs are SM/CSM only

>>98684712On the bright side you can get some characterful models from KT.
It helps to frame "battleshock" and morale as equipment failures and communcations equipment breaking and such things. It represents them not being able to receive orders basically, and is an abstraction already. So if your fanatics like SoB or your hivemind monsters like tyranids or whatever suddenly get "battleshocked", it's because their phone broke or their psyhcic connection tot he hivemind got dissrupted. It doesn't always have to be panic, especially if that doesn't make sense.Hell, the more I think about it, regular guardsmen and tau are the only ones where it's probably actual panic. Every other faction pretty much has to be flavored as something else in some way.

Still a good overwatch threat, but it won't just annihilate 5-man units as easily any more.>>98684084>almost guaranteed to wipe a 10-man Marine squad. It has less than 50% chance to kill 10 regular-ass marines, which is the absolutely optimal target. It wounds on 3s, so about 10-11 wounds (2-3 devs), then they save on 5s, so about 7-8 dead marines on average. Remember, on average means it happens about 50% of the time. Which is damn good, but you're really exaggerating the power of the thing. And if they happen to NOT be 10 dudes, the output drops dramatically. I don't think it reliably drops 3 bladeguard.

>>98684724>NTA but AOS doesn't have stratagemsTechnically true but it does have universal actions that cost CP. Even those are better balanced than strategems, though
>>98684716>"the X are fearless and unquestioning and go through things that'd break a normal person, blah blah blah"it's only a problem with marines
>>98684724>NTA but AOS doesn't have stratagemsWhere do you think they come from if not AoS command abilities?>it also had a morale system where models fledFuck no it didn't. And 10th's morale still sucks compared to what was before.>the removal of an armoury section and moving weapons to datasheets is the same thing. They are separate things. We had no armoury in 8th and 9th and weapons were still modular in those editions.
>>98684748I think there's potential for cool models at the very least, I like the little techpriest that came with the servitors, and the upgrade kit for CSM was also pretty neat.
>>98684716>the X are fearless and unquestioning and go through things that'd break a normal person, blah blah blah"What is this newfag argument? This has never been true outside of marines and they just regrouped. They could still flee for a turn, get pinned or lose a combat and be overrun so morale still worked as a proper alternative to deleting units.

For example, my servitors can't even take the other heavy weapons that we already have models for including the plasma cannon and multi-melta, it makes no sense in a frustrating way.
>>98684253That Veteran Bodyguard rule is kind of insane, I think. Because of how wound allocation works, you always put this guy last in the order, meaning any character he hangs out with will enjoy a 4+ fnp until dead (unless you precision out Kaius). Calgar is probably the best one, but that will probably get real expensive real fast. Something like a Captain with Imperium's Sword and this guy stapled to 5 Assault Intercessors or Company Heroes (assuming he gets to join those joins) is kind of a huge fucking pain in the ass to kill, and the two characters put out 11 AP-3 D3 attacks bettwen them before even the Captain pops Finest Hour.
>>98684768I will never forgive GW for fucking battlesuits like that>we can't balance the weapon options between each other, due to no wargear costs!>how about instead of using wargear costs, we fuck everyones battlesuits and tell them to fuck off to legends if they don't snap off their weapons to replace them with the approved loadouts?
>>98684785Yes I know that's how it worked in 40k because it copied AoS. That's my complain from the start.
>>98684755Dude command abilities is just like 7 abilities in the rulebook that are spend 1 point to re-roll a charge roll and unlike stratagems these were generated and discarded every turn lmao. If you actually think AOS command abilities are comparable to every single detachment having its own set of stratagems that you have to memorize or the 20+ each faction had in 8th and 9th then your sorely mistaken. Theyre similar sure but not even close to the same in practice, and yeah dumbass morale making guys flee a unit still means morale does somethingAlso 8th and possibly 9th literally had a list of every weapon in the codex printed at the back
>>98684773Anon you’re not helping with this example.
>>98684778Not when your post was retarted right off the bat no
>>9868479640k copied AoS with the fallback and rally thing?
>>98684797I think you have severe reading comprehension problems. Doesn't surprise me that you consider AoS something to strive for.
>>98684782nta but I equate kill team with straight sex40k is gay sexAos is trans on trans
>>98684456Anon, as a Fellhammer Siege-Host enjoyer, trust me when I say that the -1 to wound against greater strength isn't as big a deal as you think it is. I almost always lose my vehicles to melta and lethal hits, not lascannons.
>>98684777The poses and bitz are like nothing we've got before so.>copy pasted shit
>>98684253What are fights between characters going to look like? It kind of looks like they're going to sling like 5 S10 attacks at each other that's wild.
>>98684810Okay so you’re just a degenerate as well. Take it easy with the porn addiction, mkay?
>>98684810Old World/WHFB and pre-7th ed 40k are sex with Anne Hathaway
>>98684773The only thing I like out of this kit is the not!AK triangle-folder stock on the one lasgunGive me more of those on everything
>>98684814>Single upgrade sprue for a kit from 2013.
>>98684797>Also 8th and possibly 9th literally had a list of every weapon in the codex printed at the backThat's not what I'm talking about my dude. This is.
>>98684798Are you blind? Please show me where else in the history of GW have we had dudes like that and a little satellite dish gizmo. If it's copy+paste this should be easy.>copy>pasted>shit
>>98684822Nah it’s just pattern recognition from my LGS
>>9868480940k and AOS really play nothing alike, on a surface they share similarities but they are radically different games
>>98684845Correct. 40k hasn't had a decent rule set since 6th edition whereas AoS is actually enjoyable to play.
>>98684845You're straight up inventing new sentences that I've never posted.
>>98684834Wrong again. That drone was available from an upgrade sprue in 2013? Grenade lobbing arm? Alternate FW helmets and shit?>copy pasta shitI could keep going. KT has been knocking it out of the park with bangers.
>>98684835Thats kind of just a list of ork weapons and various war gear which again 8th had a list of all the guns+cybork bodies and KFFit just excluded the flavor text but it literally gave you all the rules for every gun and optional piece of war gear on 1 page exactly like that does
>>98683854I like your Banshee :DAre you doing an Iyanden army too or just cohencidence? Working on my Banshees right now. Trying to decide on the final color scheme.
>>98684834Honestly that's not too bad, I think it'd be really cool to get a bunch of alternate arms, heads, and weapons for an existing kit like skitarii.
>>98684860This is 4 pages of upgrades and wargear for characters and units which has nothing to do with modular weapons. I don't know what the fuck you're trying to achieve here.
>>98684836Anon…just stop. This is getting sad. They have the same trim as the Elysians and I really do wonder where they could have gotten power packs with tactical rocks from. Oooh wow they have a token too. >>98684854Again just stop with the reaching…the mandrakes being monopose is a sin as well and I still use alternative proxies for them. Posings are retarded.
>>98684853Dude i'm just trying to tell you that if 40k actually copied AOS then it really would be a different game because they did not copy most of what AOS did like multi turn or 3" melee with melee weapons having ranges, they also never heroic actions either
>>98684840You have orgies at your LGS?
>>98684874I'm still waiting for you to show me where they copied from to paste. Are you going to tell me there were hand crossbows in 40K before?
>>98684883No but all the gay 40K guys doIn their own private abodes
>>98684874Trying way too hard esl
>>98684869I don't know what the fuck your talking about man but the 8th codexes had weapon lists that certain units and characters could take shit from toounless your talking about the shrinking amount of options in which case I'll tell you that AOS has no options for units at all outside of swapping a sword for a spear and that's on a unit by unit basis whereas 40k still let you swap wargear with anything from these lists
>>98684901Not that anon but there used to be, it was a special weapon you could get on an inquisitor way back when. I think those sculpts are neat too.
>>98684883you don't?
>>98684864Yes when I'm not distracted by games, work, etc. Here's my first Dire Avenger from way earlier this year. I like keeping them as is to observe my progression whenever I paint.
>>98684901The inquisitors?
>>98684720You're on here too huh?
You would think there’d be games galore posted here the way people talk but the nogames crickets are deafening
>>98684875How the fuck do you go from>every bad design philosophy in modern 40k comes directly from AoSto>AoS and 40k are literally the same game and share every single mechanic
>>98684918Iyanden GODS itt. Keep up the good work anon, improvement little by little.
>>98684909>>98684919>one niche inquisitor modelWew lads we flew too close to the sun.
>>98684907Every single codex would have an armoury of wargear, NOT JUST WEAPONS, before 8th. In 8th they removed the armoury but weapons were still modular until 10th. These are two separate and completely different systems and the removal of both comes from copying AoS.
>>98684932Here's an AoS game I playedTaking a break from 40k because the rules are dogshit and don't look like theyre gonna get any better soon
>>98684941It also had special rules against psykers, pretty cool to see more of it, don't you think?
>>98684941>Asks question >Gets answer Hrrrrrrr
>>98684935because the design philosophy is different and they didn't copy the gameplay mechanics because command abilities act nothing like stratagems and do extremely different things within the context of the game. Outside of using a resource for a buff which has been present in 100s of boardgames and card games before either AOS or 40k they aren't the same.
>>98684942Maybe we lost them just because the 40k writers are incompetent. Rather than this narrative of them copying a whole other game.
Is 3x2mm big enough for magnetising bases?
>>98684942But they had those in 8th and 9th too? Orks had kustom jobs and you had lots of other things like that in the expansion books during that time.
>>98684954You don't need to be competent to keep copying old editions.
>>98684944Was wondering why your army seemed relatively small until I noticed the two grey bloodthirsters on the left kekGet to painting those but otherwise pretty cool army anon
>>98684946It is, I'm sure glad of KT to bring niche shit back, like how arbites wouldn't exist in plastic if not for KT. I sure wouldn't want to besmirch their work by generalising it all as generic and copy pasted. It sure is nice to have nice bespoke squads of things and particularly units we wouldn't get otherwise.>>98684948Hm? We're just having a chill discussion.
>>98684969Only issue is that they have such limited releases but I guess that's just their cadence, I want another team for my army for more neat stuff.
>>98684969yeah im so glad world eaters got a second kit of buff fucking retards that are out of place and are redundant within my army. Im so glad kill team wasted their time on that.
>>98684938I just like the color yellow. If I was doing my first ever Space Marine army, they'd be either Imperial Fists or Marines Malevolent. If I was doing Tyranids, they'd be Hive Fleet Jormungandr. I bought the World Eaters Combat Patrol and wanna paint them with the color of honey but idk how to do that.
>>98684976Actually that really sucks, I wish you guys got something way more flavourful or just plain unique.
>Watching video of a guy describing his matches with Grey Knights with memes>Chaos Space Marine player avoided his Eversor Assassin guarding a bunch of secondary objectivesCan I get a QRD why?https://youtu.be/tgn56rB--ag?is=K09IU3kkA_9QaG3-
>>98684976>play the buff retard army>waaahh we got another box of buff retardsI mean, Khorne has always been one note. I feel for you a little but you had to expect this going in.
>>98685001NTA but the issue is that GW is not releasing cool models for World Eaters. Meanwhile Khorne in AoS gets a bunch of cool units
>>98684720Peak
>>98685020Yeah that's why I said I feel for you a bit. I myself was a TzeentchGOD but don't know if I can still say I like them with the direction they took. Anything done with Tzeentch after Storm of Chaos was just goofy shit, bring back the actual body horror and "constantly in flux" look FFS. That said, as an outsider I like jakhals as khornate specific cultists, the models look good to me. Are the rules really no good?>AoS KhorneI fucking love slaughterpriests, just cool imposing dudes. Also the big belly dude with the whip, I feel like they constantly forget you don't have to be shredded to be strong.
>>98685042Thove version of pink horrors are so fucking good. Who's that little birb? He cute
>>986849939 attacks with sustained hits 3, precision, anti-infantry 3+, -2, dmg2 is some scary shit. It can move 15", advance and charge as well so that's a 33" of threat range.
>>98685050>pink horrorsBack then those were just horrors, and you painted them blue/pink. There was no brimstone, also. Getting a hold of those minis today is an exercise in pain and frustration, unfortunately for me because I just want a batch of 'em.>birbIt's an old sorcerer, they were just like that. I didn't have that one but I have this guy, who is not only birb but has birb staff and mini melty birb, avianmaxxing. I'd love to see 40K sorcs with full blown mutations like this but 50K never seemed to have the same whimsy
>>98685065I have this guy too, great wizard.
the issue is that a vast majority of 40k players do not give a fuck about anything other than 40knot AoS, not 30k, not WHFB, not even a game set in 40k like necromundaremember the box game that came with the new ork buggies? nobody fucking played it as they bought the box for the models and never touched the game, i've seen more games of gaslands using that mat than what it was designed forKill Team is only continuing on because 40k players buy the teams for 40k, and will only play KT once in a blue moon because the kit already comes with the tokens and cardswe'll never get battlefleet gothic back because of this, because 40k players have no interest30k players do, afterall theres a large crossover there with 30k players and LIgma/titanicus players, so we'll plibably get 30k BFG
>>98685119>so we'll plibably get 30k BFGUnironically horrible news for me specifically
Reivers terror -1 OC aura now only effects models within 3", not units. They were almost good this edition, I swear.
>>98685119You wonder why gw even bothers?
>>98685149>have a unit thats not really piled in right>their ability is uselesslol this fucking company
>>98685119There was a period of time where GW was releasing specialist games and running them for an edition (or even half an edition) before killing them off. I was frustrated with them for doing this, but I mean I get it when people just won't stray from their main game. It's like all the brainlets I see online complaining about this or that in DnD, but they never once consider there are other RPGs out there that may not do the thing they don't like
>>98684956depends on their strength, I'm using 6x2mm and it's barely enough for 32mm bases. But they're some no name stuff, probably N35 something. Something stronger might work.
I genuinely love the wraithknight so much I'm considering changing my priorities and building an eldar army before my marines...
>>98685151GW made its bed and I don't think they've realised how much of an issue it's going to be in the futurethey're slowly being pidgeonholed into becoming the 40k companyI bet a solid chunk of the company operates at a loss but its subsidized with 40k money
>>98685176Thats what GW has ALWAYS been ever since 40k was created
>>98685183when WHFB was floundering because they never updated it, surebut now you'd think every game holds its weight in sales but I think it's still the same as what it was
just saw the leaked gear for WoW Forever and I think I will actually be finishing my 40k army this year
>>98685188>WoW has shit looking gearMore at 7. What you working on models wise, anon?
What is in-universe third oldest army? (My understanding the most ancient ones are Eldar and Necrons.)
>>98685192wow used to have awesome looking gearworking on some shining spears and old world stuff
>>98685196orks
>>98685196Necrons by a lot
>>98685208It always looked cartoony and goofy af to me, and not in a good way like 40K. Even the pic you posted is only saved by a darker colour palette and lighting but I'm sure it didn't look like that ingame. The proportions are still stupid, ginormous pauldrons and shit look okay on SM but terrible on regular humanoids>shining spearsYou alright, don't come to the LGS tomorrow
