>>98699612I like this and I planned on doing this in one of my settings: Humanity is the oldest species and the most technologically advanced, but we're not the most psionically attuned or the jack-of-all-trades. Humanity is seen kind of like elves, where we're arrogant, long-lived assholes who are competent enough to get away with being arrogant, and we have like fifty subgroups all at odds with each other just like how there are a fuckton of different kinds of elves.
Weird fun fact. Humans probably are a relatively early sapient lifeform. To get to carbon-based life forms, muchless silicon based life, you have to go through several generations of star formation. stuff like the magellenic clouds are all still existing first and 2nd generation stars.... stars consisting of almost exclusively hydrogen and helium. Those stars will never have life naturally occur around them. Just isnt enough heavy elements to product planets with any consistency, muchless complicated life. So for human life to exist and things like the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds to exist at the same time indicates we as a species have arrived relatively early in the complex life producing era of this galaxy.
