Shouldn't Tyranids have like moon-sized salt, water, and nutrient deposits trailing their ships that they are slowly converting into biomass? Like digestion isn't normally an efficient means of converting something into mass or energy because it takes a large amount of energy and acid and enzyme cofactors to break down material into usable aminos and then lots of energy rebuild them and synthesize them into other materials usable by a living organism.

Getting into eldar lore genuinely is pissing me off. Like according to the sources I can find, the fall of the eldar happened around M30 and kicked off the great crusade/ended the age of strife by actually focusing more warp energy together and making warp travel overall more viable. However this is kind of impossible with what the prime eldar empire supposedly was. In order for this to happen, it requires that during the entirety of dark age of technology humanity either took territory away from the eldar, was ignored by the eldar, or was friends with the eldar. The first one doesn't make sense because even DAOT tech seems like not a big deal to how insanely strong prime eldar were, the second doesn't make much sense because of how many human worlds there were to reconquer during the great crusade(as in, how could humans have this much space without the eldar even caring) and the third one makes no sense because if the eldar were on good enough terms with humanity to allow them to have so much territory then why didn't they help during the age of strife? I guess all of this can be resolved by saying the eldar empire wasn't actually as great as it was hyped up to be but then that kind of undermines the idea of humanity rising up to be the new dominant force in the galaxy to replace the eldar, and kind of makes it weirder that they were able to create slaanesh. It all just kind of comes out looking like a mess, which I guess is on point for 40k, but at least broad strokes things usually stay somewhat consistent

Are Sacresants ever worth it in a unit of 5? I'm trying to find a unit to put into an Immolator to take advantage of Sanctified Immolation to its fullest. You can also use alternative color schemes for Craftworlds you like, the older codexes do have alternate schemes for each major Craftworld. You can also very easily justify different schemes as "campaign colors" or "colors signifying this and that in their lore or honoring a historical event". Eldar can psychically change their armour colors I'm pretty sure. I'm painting Iyanden right now, but the way I'm planning to paint the army, using multiple different alternate, but still cohesive, schemes, my army won't just be "holy fuck that's a lot of yellow". For example, lore friendly Wraith constructs can also be Wraithbone white as the primary color with blue helmets and accents. Or, in one of the 'eavy metal schemes, they incorporate black, white, a really deep blue, and just a sparing amount of yellow. You can play around with things and still be "lore accurate", more than SM for sure.

Some people say metallic acrylics shouldn't go on a wet palette. Some say it is fine. I keep my metallic acrylic paints on the ceramic tile just out of habit. A single ceramic tile I think was less than 60 Canadian cents when I bought it, but this was pre-covid pricing. Hardware stores want you to buy them in bulk.A DIY wet palette is generally a plastic tupperware with paper towel and baking paper as the palette that gets moistened up and the moisture keeps paints wet so they don't dry out having you have to get more.I've used a sponge but I'm planning on giving some Swedish dish cloths that can be machine washed a try in case of bacteria buildup.

The goal of thinning your paint is that the paint should effortlessly flow off your brush. You shouldn't need to put any "force" as it were to get the paint to come off the brush. And the counterpart to having the right consistency is to not overload the brush so that you have a nice point and the paint doesn't run off the brush when you touch the model. This is how you paint neatly and how people are able to freehand tiny calligraphy. The opacity will obviously depend on the paint itself and what exactly you're trying to do. A basic base coat layer, a very thin glaze and basically everything in between should control the same coming off the brush even though they have different opacity and different amounts of water or medium in them.
