I'm fairly new, I have a question, besides the type (base vs contrast vs washes etc) do specific color variants matter? Can you technically just get something like this and just mix and get decent results when it comes to base colors? Then just get some washes/shades and metallics that you need depending on what you're painting?
BIGBOUNCYBANSHEEBUTTS
I like orks :D
>>98703560Pretty obvious desu, low quality tq
>>98703571By color variants I mean stuff like Mournfang brown vs Rhinox hide being shades of brown etc
>>98703571no it is not possible to mix paints.
I've been out of the 40k loop for years but got a few CSM models I realized I can use after watching a couple of videos. Do berserkers+plague marines+regular legionaires work well in small point games?
>>98703583fine, what do you like about YOUR homebrew faction/subfaction?
>>98703571>do specific color variants matter? Not really, no. Vallejo's Game and Model ranges for example aren't different types of paint, it's just different hues. They could just as well have had it all as one big range. And frankly things like base vs layer (talk talk GW language) aren't set ins tone either, if a "base" colour is the right hue for your highlights then go for it. Mixing is heavily encouraged, and most of the different brands here (so stuff like GW, Vallejo, Warpaints, P3, Scale75, etc) happily mix with each other. You can also mix "regular" paints with washes, though this will obviously have a bit of impact on the consistency.
What has been the most unbalanced disposition matchup you have played? I've been out of the game for a few additions and I'm thinking about rejoining but I want to understand the disposition mechanics more before I go spending more money on models to update my army. I play Orks in several of my favorite units have been made Legends so it would be a sizeable investment to buy back into the meta.
>>98703617I havent played any unbalanced disposition matchups personallyIn general you just pick the one that your army works best withSomebody posted a graph with all the winrates and shit at one point you could probably look it upI think reconnaissance is generally the worst and take and hold/purge the foe are usually the best/easiest to work with iirc
>>98703571>can you mix paints to get different colors?no, that's illegal
>>98703483>now I gotta wait until steel legion gets releasedJust make your own, be the change you want to see
>>98703603Thanks.
I want Inquisitors to be their own viable faction>dude just play SoBmight as well play with Barbies
i like orks le ecks dee
>>98703670That kind of defeats the point of the militant orders
>>98703571>>98703587Nah, the only advantage is not having to remember recipes if you want identical color schemes on minis. For instance in your example those are different shades of brown right out the pot, if you manually make them with mixing you might not get the exact tone unless you're precise (this is easier with paints that are in dropper bottles for getting controlled amounts)
>>98703679good
>>98703617I think Priority Assets is really strong and very easy to score with.
>>98703571Vallejo paints are pretty decent and you can get away with buying one base color and one highlight color and shade it with a wash. Not that I don't enjoy spending my money on small stuff but if you want uniformity across your models there's a reason why people end up buying lots of paints instead of mixing it all the time.
>>98703751TELL ME MASON, WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?
>>98703617From the Meta shit we've been getting, Disruption is worst. Purge, T&H, and Recon are all good as long as your army AND chosen units work with it.
>>98703594Yes (how small though lol)
>>98703597I get to paint my dudes like I want to.
>>98703670They are it seems. Just got either IG or SoB+Agents or pure Agents. The few people who have been taking agents to tournies are doing surprisingly well (maybe because they use Deathwatch?)
>go to get a citadel paint from my cupboard>It has solidified because it was slightly exposed from the paint build-up at the rim that allows air in.There is zero reason for GW not to use dropper bottles. Zero. None. Null. Nil. The are mass produced, more convenient to use, easier to store, easier to produce, easier to recycle. Hell, they could make dropper bottles with less paint than the current things and still sell them at the same price if they wanted to. It's ridiculous. EVERY OTHER BRAND HAS DONE THIS. T

Codex nerfed Space Marines too much
>>98703813This, a single lore-accurate space marine is supposed to be able to solo every army in the game except other space marines. GW fucked up by nerfing marines too much and now they need to backtrack before b-b-based marinepiggies like us stop buying their 17th new Lieutenant model to be released in the last 6 months
>>98703771Normally there's 1 or 2 DW units but there's basically only one way to play IA right now and that's Veiled Blade + Imperialis Fleet playing recon as a deep strike + infiltrate heavy horde list.

>>98703571Game color is thinner out the bottle and model color is more pigmenty, they say but I don't really know what that means yet. You can get a basic color like model blue and then have model black to make a navy blue and model ivory to make a light blue. Using an off-white but still light color is better for mixing than a pure white, they say but again don't ask me exactly why.

>>98703861>There has been one (1) new space marine lieutenant released in the past 6 monthsWhy do you think you'll be able to make the meme go away just by pointing out it's old? People STILL bring up the Imperial Fists' shit eating ceremony or Tyranids getting stopped by razor wire or whine about Matt Ward, and squatting is still shorthand for discontinuing a model range. Space Marines will never shake the stink of Primaris Lieutenants off of them, that's just the way of things.
>>98703861lmao they're still making new primaris lieutenants? y'all piggies said it's been like 2 editions since you got one. are they gonna release a codex where you only run primaris lieutenants soon?
>>98703840Damn I gotta learn to paint miniature faces where the eyes are shadowed. Great "style cheat" to avoid painting eyes.
>>98703922Maybe this is an outdated idea but I quite strongly believe that if your argument is actually worth making it should be able to stand on its own without exaggerating or making up details to convince people. If the number of lieutenants is really so egregious, then surely saying the actual correct number is enough to convince people of that fact, without padding the numbers? They did release quite a few. Or you can just go on saying the shit that semantically feels right to you but isn't even correct. That doesn't bother most people in today's society.
>>98703929Pretty sure you just daub some black on the eye sockets and then give it a heavy black tone wash. I've absolutely seen "Darkest Dungeon" minis before and I like the way they look.

It's mockery.>If the number of lieutenants is really so egregious, then surely saying the actual correct numberDo you really wanna go down that road? I'm pretty sure there's more individual Primaris Lieutenants than there are currently legal DEldar minis. This outdated chart is already egregious as fuck.
Getting back into warhammer and it feels odd. When did wargear stop costing points? What the fuck is a detachment?
>>98703617None have felt particularly unbalanced to me, but recon vs disruption was probably the dumbest feeling. I won 98-96 and there was so little either of us could do to stop the other scoring, even when he was down to a handful of units in turn 4.
>>98703943>Maybe this is an outdated idea but I quite strongly believe that if your argument is actually worth making it should be able to stand on its own without exaggerating or making up details to convince people.Look at that original post again, at what point do you think it was anything but exaggerated satire of marinefags bitching about their army not being strong enough or supported enough?
>>98703961what do lieutenants even do?
>>98703961Man, I really don't like the half-mask design. Either put a helmet on or leave it off.
>>98703565Im painting CSM right now too and I think they are a bad case study for slapchop.the best way to paint chaos is to fill in the armor after base coating the model in the same color as your trim, this is nice because you can go back over the trim areas where you were sloppy and simply do touchups.I am painting some cartoony night lords so ive gone in the opposite direction. and its kind of a pain,
>>98703974Tenant in lieu of a real commander.Real answer: they're just sergeants except GW wanted Primaris to seem cooler than firstlets so they upgraded them from NCO to officer.
>get pushback for calling this shithole contrarian central>some scum fuck primarisfag trying to downplay and play stupid about the amount of lieutenant releases that got so bad that even GW was making tone deaf self-aware jokes about it in their marketing Fuck him and his WHORE mother!
>>98703961If someone says "17 in the last 6 months" and the real figure is ONE in the last 6 months, then that makes them look like a fool. I've told you my part though, so please feel free to continue repeating the reddit meme and seething about your third tier xenos army not being more popular - dark eldar is obviously going to get a bunch of releases this edition, and then you can find a new faction who hasn't had a release in a while to bitch and moan about.
>>98703571>>98703751>>98703912>vallejo mentionedI bought some mecha and game color metallics. Are they gonna have the bubble meme? Was that debacle blown out of proportion or genuine and has been silently corrected in newer batches? I love some of the mecha color metallic paint tones. I know I can mix dark metallics. I just want the metallics to be dark and consistent.
>>98703966>Getting back into warhammer I'm sorry for your loss.>When did wargear stop costing points? When the game designers got lobotomized and decided to roll all wargear upgrade costs into the base unit price so now there's literally no reason to ever not take the best wargear selections and trying to be frugal with cheap, unupgraded infantry is now punished>What the fuck is a detachment? It used to be a way of modifying the Force Organization Chart to let you take more of specific units that you would normally not be able to take (see also: Deathwing or Ravenwing). They still do that, but FOCs are gone now, so the main reason to take a Detachment is for the alternate special rule it grants your army (but you have to meet the requirements by having enough of a specific unit included in your army to use said detachment). It's retarded.
>>98703970It has dawned on me that the days of me being able to drink beer while playing 40K are over. If I have to score on every turn I can't have a laid-back casual attitude. I have to constantly be thinking about objectives, mine and the opponents. I'll try a couple of games with the army I already have to see if I can enjoy it but I'm not putting more money into my Orks and coming back to the game.
>>98703978As dumb as I find reivers they're the only ones who even sort of pull it off since skull badannas/half-masks are already a widespread aesthetic. It still looks a bit off on a marine for some reason in a way that the full skull helmets don't for me, but it doesn't look as retarded as the mkX snoutmasks.
>>98703984uhhh anon, he doesn’t play xenos, remember? he claimed he was a dyed in the wool marinepiggy >>98703827
>>98703961the primaris lieutenant thing is really just so GW can release one off models for various reasons (store events, promotional boxes, etc) and they have a lot of visual appeal. these are single monopose models so it isn't a lot of work to create the models, part the model out and get them fit to a small sprue in whatever software they use.
>>98703990I am convinced somebody is paying that guy to spread that bubble shit.
>>98703984You're telling me the guy who is explicitly clowning around looks like a fool? Damn, I bet he feels dumb right now!
>>98703813I'm excited to see how it plays out. Tacticus got tougher and more lethal (broadly, not as much as T3 players cried about) with only minor points increases, but their detachments are dogshit. Gravis and Phobos got more lethal, no tougher, slightly worse abilities, minor point increases but with good detachments. Terminators got way better, way more expensive, and probably the best detachment in the book. Vehicles generally got worse rules and suffer most without easy rerolls every turn.

>>98704007It has been years since the first bubble criers have been warning others and it was derided as a skill issue until it became clear the formula was a kind where it was too easy to have bubble markings. >>98704028His paints are too glossy.
>>98704028Honestly I'd say it was probably ArmyPainter doing that more. Their marketing is pretty good and aggressive so guerilla marketing is something they would do.

>>98704088Empire state troops and militia boxes come with skull cap heads, though they're not very marinelike. It's weird that GW likes to show off marines with just the mask part and separate helmet portion, but never marines with just the helmet with removed mask. And it's only a few helmets variants with the separate mask part. Mainly MkX with a few MkVIIs (if you want to imagine the grill masks as the grill face of the helmet). FW did make one MkII face mask without the helmet in their tank crew kit. No MkIV, VI, terminator, etc. heads with the mask and no helmet.I think in RT IG and SM shared their helmet designs. At least the IG helmets looked very much like the Marine helmets without the mask. Both had a similar shape with the angry brow, disks on the sides and an off-set optic comb on top.
>>98704152Lorgar is pretty based if you read the HH books. >>98704198
>>98704184Depends. Lorgar's motives are basically "I was right all along" and he is, in fact, proven right all along. So it's spite that drives him, with an extra bit of hindsight. Yet he's also an underdog who wants to prove himself to his brothers (traitor and otherwise) and works very hard to 'save' Angron (by ruining his life, but he thought he was helping) as well as to improve his own skills to defeat his more vaunted brothers like Guilliman. Some would find that fun, at least.

Hopefully those points previews were fake since it was stuff like Intercessors and hellblasters only being 5 points more and a few named characters being like 10-15. And land raiders actually got cheaper, meaning if your list was infantry and land raiders it's probably a wash.I really hope GW doesn't mess this up. The stat increases are fine *IF* points costs are higher, losing Oath actually matters, and other books get cool stuff too (their own buffs, or their weapons updated to still kill marines, or cheaper to be more horde-like, whatever). If marines get these stat increases and are only more expensive by like 5 points and armies like sob and votann are still using old bolter profiles wounding new marines on 5's then I'm going to be really sad.I play marines but I also play muliple other armies, and even if I didn't play other armies I would still want a fair and fun environment. The thing that makes me hopeful is that losing Oath is actually pretty noteworthy, that is a nerf. Oath+Gladius detachment is stronger than having Gladius as your army rule and taking some other random detachment instead of Gladius,. which looks like is what is happening. So hopefully that makes things balanced...

>>98704843Yeah , before 8th the entire squad had to shoot the same target unless someone had splitfire, wwhich was most common on Tau crisis suits as an upgrade as Tau support systems actually had individual rules.
>>98704843>>98704837An often long held argument and proponent of mixed weapons was how sometimes you’d waste a rocket launcher or melta gun on something Deveststors were worse this is why you’d often see mono load outs to build a specific squads niche. I’ve made this argument before, and I know it’s controversial, but I think 40K has an inherent contradiction that became impossible to ignore around 10 years ago: the lore’s obsession with technological stagnation and the tabletop’s need for constant innovation are fundamentally at odds.40K was built around technology being ancient, lost, and difficult to replace. That stagnation is a huge part of its identity. But GW also has to constantly sell new models. You can’t endlessly introduce new weapons and units into a setting where humanity supposedly barely understands its existing technology. For years, GW worked around this with “we found an STC,” Forge World explaining that something was experimental or rare, or the AdMech simply disapproving of new technology. Centurions and grav weapons were a good example. People understandably asked, “When the hell did Space Marines start using this? They just found an STC and immediately mass-produced it?”The same conflict exists in squad design. Assault Intercessors lacking jump packs in 9th caused plenty of complaints, despite non-jump-pack assault squads already existing in the lore as Despoilers. But on the tabletop, players naturally wanted jump packs because they were cooler and more useful.Vanguard Veterans show it too. Lore presents them as melee specialists, but players optimized them into standardized loadouts like thunder hammers and storm shields. Mixed equipment makes more sense narratively; optimized equipment makes more sense in a game. That’s my central point: the more GW develops 40K as a living tabletop game, the more it inevitably conflicts with the stagnant setting that originally defined it. Primaris around 2017 simply made that contradiction impossible to ignore. The “lore vs. tabletop” argument isn’t really about one side being stupid. They’re asking 40K to do fundamentally different things.
Necron civilisation.
>>98705022It's probably a laser pointer, but tactical like.
>>98705016You'll like it even better when they reduce the cost to 1k points and sell a 450 dollar plastic warhound as part of the Adepticus Titanicus army.

Like do you really believe for example that an Iron Hands fan will care about and buy Blood Angels shit just because it is more space marines? No, they'll buy Iron Hands shit when it comes avaivable and ignore the BA stuff.
I have often had this argument written up but I think people barely would care for it also LONG Warhammer 40ks lore purity and table top are effectively both detrimental to each other and that utterly cracked 10 years ago. 40k built itself up on being stagnate, forced reuse of tech/relics thats appealed to the lore side heavily but its utter SUICIDE for a company trying to sell toys. This was often covered up for years with "Oh we found an STC, Forgeworld often giving paragraphs of okay these arent widespread BUT, or the admech hates we did this but fuck them. Centurions and Grav weapons around 2016 was the testament to that at that point. Many met Centurions with "what? when the fuck did they use this? Really they just found the STC and shat it out instantly?" You also see this with squad setups. I remember an often complained upon part in 9th was Assault Intercessors lacking jump packs for an entire edition. I saw the usual stuff you know the horus heresy complaints or destroying marine squad structure etc, but I also realized Assault Squads never always needed to WEAR jump packs because Heresy for some odd reason called the non JP ones Despoilers, its just something people gravitated towards because why wouldnt you want to use a cool jump pack? I looked into this rules wise and 98% of the time people often just gave them jump packs. I only found Blood Angel players typically ran on foot squads for specific strats but outside of that NOTHING and by the time Vanguard Vets came out the regular assault squad basically went MIA. VVs themselves are also per lore meant to be melee specialists but what did players do? Either SS and Thunderhammer or Lightning claw mono loadouts just because yet another lore vs table top mentality. Mixed loadouts in general fit more in a lore sense than a game sense and it did for years you saw them realize this around 7th/8th but it was too late primars were nearing completion phase.

>>98705030Aside from the tried and true "we found a new STC" and "this shit was always around you just never saw it", the Imperium/Admech has always made slight tweaks and adjustments to their tech. They're just super slow and cautious about it because they don't want to fuck up STCs and are always wary of shit exploding into chaos as it is wont to do. You had shit like the Cursed Founding were Admech tried to tweak and experiment with geneseeds and lo and behold almost every single one backfired horrendously. As scuffed as the sculpts were, Centurions were a perfect example of Imperium "innovation". Terminators aren't easily replaced and always in shorter supply than demand, so the Imperium tried to make something halfway as good by scaling existing exosuit tech to a larger space marine frame. It's not nearly as good as the thing it's meant to substitute, but it still showcases how the Imperium isn't completely allergic to innovation and development.

>>98705268Yeah but the primaris refresh and squatting of firstborn was a negative, not a positive, so that's like the worst argument ever.
i will say it is incredibly funny that instead of refreshing kabalite warriors, GW put an upgrade sprue in a kill team and 6 months after giving it rules in 40k for the first time it got squatted
>>98705271They literally had the perfect opportunity for Catachan with the red terror box and they made them Cadians again for some stupid fucking reason. I don't think Guard is hurting particularly badly and gets lots of cool new stuff but it's like the most obvious glaring oversight that they have to be avoiding them on purpose.
>>98705280also exodites was literally on a jungle planet CATACHANS ARE FROM A JUNGLEI have to believe catachans will be refreshed Soon (TM) because otherwise it seems like GW fucked catachan over twice.
>>98705279Remember when they told everyone they wouldn't be getting 40k rules like all the other kill teams and just should be used as Warrior proxies even with blades instead of guns? Those were fun times. The even funnier thing is the six months they were available to buy they were horrendous and had janky rules that didn't work with transports, and then they finally fixed it with the launch of 11th just before the discontinued the kit and now no one can buy them now that they're useful.
>>98705271the problem with tau tanks is that having only 1 main gun isn't good enough anymore. just having 1 shot from a hammerhead isn't doing a whole lot.
>>98705293do you think this isn't also a problem with the dark eldar tanks

>>98705294yeah, i'm just saying that all the tanks from the early 2000's don't fit the meta anymore and they all need to be updated.
I don't see any reason for primarchs to be involved with anything, unless it is a political event and story moving event. Or if they're doing the classic primarch vs primarch wwe cage match.
>>98705294The ravager being the main tank of the faction with only three S12 shots is awful. Their actual main tank is more like the Voidraven Bomber which has the only S14 weapons but is an aircraft and limited by all the jank that comes with that. And that might even get squatted this edition if flyers are on the way out.
>>98705297Sounds like instead they should just release a Dark Elf Reapager with two+ guns and a Tau Lemon Shark with two+ guns
why does the focused anti-tank tank get 12 shots s5 ap1 dam 1that's so much damage for freewhy does the redemptor get 16 shots at 5-1-1 on top of the big plasma gun and the AA rocketpodwhy does every god-forsaken marine gun have like 10+ s5ap1dam1 shots for free

>>9870396610th, but now in 11th they are adding costs back in.Detachments are themed, suits of buffs for your army.So you can make your army actually E good at say using jump units, or specialized into using tanks.
>>98705346>but do their mutant freaky ass models all share characteristics because they're all from the same source?Typically yeah but you can just as easily justify them all being different because of weird gene expressions or something, a mutant is a mutant.
>>98705346What do you want to do? Cultists all fucked up and different to contrast them from Brood Brothers with standardized military uniforms or having a standard "works in the mines" uniform?
>>98705387I want human looking dudes or the clothes muties are wearing to all be different even though they're in the same unit while also having something that unifies the army. I just don't really know at all how it works in the lore. I think they're all associated with a certain tyranid hive fleet and these different fleets have different appearances so I just pick a hive fleet I like the color scheme of and that's my unifying appearance for the army?
>>98705301Good thing this shitty opinion you hold is in the extreme minority
>>98704739They're are SOME Armoured, but many still have crop tops, and tops that show cleavage too, you literally will not find cleavage in ANY 40k property outside the drukhari and like 2 necromunda models.
>>98705398>think they're all associated with a certain tyranid hive fleet and these different fleets have different appearances so I just pick a hive fleet I like the color scheme of and that's my unifying appearance for the army?hive fleets are associated with hive fleets. Cults are associated with Cults, like the Cult of the Four Armed Emperor.
>>98705398What I did for my cult was to pick a tyranid scheme and paint all the carapace and skin of the earlier generations with that, with the Patriach/Purestrains being that color only. Hybrids all wear clothes and robes, you can pick a color that suits into your tyranid scheme. I went for dark purple carapace and grayish blue for skin. For the clothes, it's dark green and burgundy. The ribbed armor is the same across everyone. You'll be painting SO many models and I'd suggest keeping it simple.
>>98705402You're right, they should be more involved and be central to every plot point instead, but never, ever, EVER, interact with eachother. Stfu you fool.
>>98705420okay so they're destabilizing worlds not for a specific fleet on the way but just for any fleet that happens to wander by?
>>98705398>(clothes) all to be different even though they're in the same unit while also having something that unifies the army.Harder to do with the GSC models, they're basically made to look like space miners, but if you end up doing a lot of conversions or using other models you can pick 2-3 tones that are muted and work together as general clothing around and have the bold skin/claws and tones link them together. Should stand out easily enough on the battlefield.

>>98705467Enough genestealer mass makes a psychic beacon that attracts whoever is nearby. Some cults stay and get eaten, some go out as refugees to seed other worlds. If you want to do gestural reference colour scheme wise to a hive fleet go for it. The unpredictable spread of the genestealers does mean whichever fleet answers the call could easily be different thought. Especially with space hulks irregular travel.
>>98705484I'm going to look up the cults anon mentioned and see if I can grab colors from them and default to picking a hive if that doesn't make sense.
>>98705467okay so the lore is like this>genestealer patriarch/broodlord is out there in the universe on a ship or something>gets into a settled society and starts impregnating chicks with its genes and mental hypnosis>the fucked up mutant offspring worship Father and bring the word of Father's alien god to the unworthy masses, to save them when the Star Children arrive to bring them salvation>most genestealer cults, similar to chaos cults, are unaware the gods aren't coming to save them to eat their facesBut some of them are doomsday cults and fully aware the star children will devour the world

>>98705934>tamiya running lowNow I'm about to blow your mind. Instead of getting a new bottle, you buy Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner instead and use it to fill your bottles. It's basically the same thing for significantly less money, I've been using it as cement myself.
I like Vostroyan FirstbornsI wish GW had expanded on different regiments more instead of just more Cadia stuff. The reprint gave me slight hope for a while but seems it was just that. Maybe someday...
>>98705958The whole "models must have rules" legal copyright bullshit is extremely lame. They could release 3-4 special guardsmen kits that simply act like cadians/dkok/catachans in the codex but are modeled as Vostroyans/Steel Legion/Mordian/etc. They would make a fuck ton of money. Guard is the one army I can for sure say they are losing sales to third parties either via printing or resin casts.
>>98705950I'm going to try and extend the plastic brush to use as much as possible. As for the airbrush cleaner. So how long do we wait until the legion of damned minis are released, might the first GW purchase I make in over 5 years -from a 3rd party recaster at least
>>98705977>Guard is the one army I can for sure say they are losing sales to third parties either via printing or resin casts.I don't think they are losing money. It is more like they are not or barely meeting expectations from GW if I'm being honest.Paypiggy/waacfag wallets are huge, anon. But I imagine the "casual sales" are why guard isn't meeting expectations. If that is the case.
>>98705984The whole point of the cleaner is to chew through the acrylic binder that settles in your Airbrush for thorough cleaning, it also chews through the plastic the same way and makes it malleable which is how it also acts as a "glue" in the first place. I use it to clean my temu airbrush though it's dead now due to its tip, but it really cleaned up everything. You get 200ml of the stuff for $2 more.
>>98705977I doubt they would when other companies now make better minis, look at these and honesty ask yourself if modern GW could do better
>>98705958>>98705977It's difficult because at what point does it become too much or too little? How many special guard flavours can you realistically sell before bloating the range of units for the faction. I feel like people would be just as unhappy if they released a single unit box of 10 dudes that can only be used to proxy for example. I am on the fence about what they'll do with Steel Legion when it comes out too, best case they get a krieg treatment with like 5 kits and a character, but even then it feels like that aspect of "did we really need more unique rules" comes to mind.

>>98706068a one track mind exactly describes what they’re doing. absolutely engrossed in whatever they’re doing at the moment, paying no heed for anything around them. a squad of proper fighters would understand that although whatever threat they may be facing may be great, its a blunder to leave a potential threat lurking around, and so would have one squad member aim his gun to quickly take him out before joining in with the squad in firing. as it stands, there’s a space marine at the front with his back turned to the guy with a gun and chainsword, and the rest of the squad is completely ignoring him. space marines are strong but they aren’t invincible, and hoping to react in time or that he won’t hit you in a critical weakpoint is arrogant and foolish.
>>98706051he looks so dead inside.
>>98705758I have a box somewhere with some untouched metal Necron Warriors and Wraiths I bought probably 20 years ago from a hobby store that went out of business. I remember thinking they'd look cool just cleaned up and polished with some jewelry paste. I'm gonna try to find them and do something with them over the winter.
>>98706122Aquilas, skulls, purity seals, a tube coming from nose or ear. Maybe tiny little wires embedded in the forehead and disappearing into the hair? Shoulder pads? Can't tell what size the bust is, but maybe Knight shoulder pads could fit it? Put a bunch of purity seals onto the pedestal with candles and skulls on top. Maybe servo-skulls/cherubs buzzing around for scale.
>>98706126They will inevitably turn and shoot him in the head before he did any damage to a brother, you are underestimating the speed and precision of a standard SW Marine which almost always has 2-3x the battle experience that other chapter Marines have.
>>98706068maybe there’s a big wolf mother angry at the wolves for sexually abusing her cubs? anyway, just wanted to give you a threadly reminder no one here likes you.that is all.
>>98706143>SW Marine … has 2-3x the battle experience that other chapter Marines have.I’d like to see you give a source for that. just the book would be fine. I’ve read a few of them.
>>98706122Dunno if this helps but here's a bunch of art of art of planetary governors from 40k total war.I suggest some small scorch marks and chipping at his hair

>>98706151It’s their overall culture and the planet the come from, it’s far more hostile and listed as a “Death World” it’s only natural they would have evolved as a superior fighting peoples.
>>98706168Most chapters recruit from death worlds tourist.
>>98706168You ban evading nigger recruiting from deathworlds is COMMON for astartes chapters, space yiffs are not fucking special in that regard
>>98706177It’s their home world tho as well you fat idiot

>I-I contribute so much to threads!>only jumps in for lame primarch/SW discussion>doesn't even know the lore properly>pulls details from his ass every timeYou could even say his knowledge is very... LIMITED

>>98706160>Baroness for a man>Dux and Consul for womenI will not chud out about this, but the incorrect usage of gendered titles bothers my pedantic autism greatlyI don't care about muh gothic language, the rest of the gendered titles are correct. There's no man titled "duchess," no woman titled "underlord," why are the ones I mentioned above wrongYes I know "dux" can be used for women, but it'd need a modifier like "dux femina" as was used to refer to Dido in the Aeneid because dux on its own is masculine.>>98706163>How does she do it?Fwiw, some of those faces are based on real people, which are far easier to sculpt because you're following a model instead of making a generic face."Commander Caine" is Michael Caine, specifically from his role as Gonville Bromhead in Zulu. "Lt. Sean Blackthorn" is Sean Bean, specifically from his role as Sharpe in the series of the same name.I can't speak on the other ones.
>>98706245>but the incorrect usage of gendered titles bothers my pedantic autism greatlyThe games is in like alpha development so the random name generator with the random art for governors it gives is still be tinkered with. These are all randomly generated govnerors for the same single world.I like Baroness Jacob Gerantus as a weird non binary obese lesbian monster looking person.
>>98705398>the clothes muties are wearing to all be different even though they're in the same unit while also having something that unifies the armyYou could make the clothes different colour but have the armour and nid bits all have the same colour scheme.
>>98703597The main reason I chose to do my own faction is because I wanted to be able to write my own stories about them without just working them into the shadows of existing characters. If they're a whole new group, I have complete freedom. Also because I like to mix and match tropes or themes from different groups and pick my own color scheme
