>TQIt was all very boring. I think I might make make my own legion of the damned.
>>98700389>TQIndifferent. Nothing we didn't really already expect. I'm mostly just annoyed they've stopped doing roadmaps of any kind and are just shadow dropping everything with about a month's warning now.Rumor has it Custodes is actually the only codex left to release in 2026 and they're slowing down their release schedule for 40k, which will leave the game in a very cancerous state for a long time.
>OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

>>98700389I only play marines so there's nothing that fits in my army
Are imperial agents finally an army in 11th or should i expect them to get the demons treatment
I bought all the imperial assassins because I thought they were really cool and wanted to play imperial agents as my second army
Why does GW try to pretend that this is a real thing when it's rarer than seeing an actual unicorn? First with this in the rulebook and now the necromunda trailer.
>>98700418What? Using regular dice?
>>98700403Yeah 40k is going to be basically unplayable until we get more codexes.
>>98700389I never liked Lotd so all I can see is an absolute and utter waste of a Kill Team which could have been a Chapter agnostic Tactical squad instead at the very leastHappy for Orkfags I guessCustodes - I sleep. And seems I will sleep for a while longer since seemingly they are getting Codex nextOverall a complete nothingburger of a reveal. AoS Rings of Power dwarfs made me laugh at least. I need GW to do something cool, it's fucking boring right now
What do you guys think of the starforged merch?
Shouldn't Tyranids have like moon-sized salt, water, and nutrient deposits trailing their ships that they are slowly converting into biomass? Like digestion isn't normally an efficient means of converting something into mass or energy because it takes a large amount of energy and acid and enzyme cofactors to break down material into usable aminos and then lots of energy rebuild them and synthesize them into other materials usable by a living organism.

>>98700433>Shouldn't Tyranids have like moon-sized salt, water, and nutrient deposits trailing their shipsNo, they most likely have multiple small ones spread across the untold amounts of bioships.
>>98700446Unfortunately yes
I like orks :D I promised an anon I’d let him know about how the new ork codex is regarding lore, and I just got it today. I’ll post some pics to show the comparisons between it and the 4th edition one (I’ll also only post whatever I feel gets the point across, so I don’t post the entire codex). I also apologize for the pictures being clumsy, I try to be neat whenever I post images of books, but holding two books of different sizes together and then cropping them properly was difficult.

As a Grey Knight bro Custodes losing the Land Raider is concerning me. How safe is our Land Raider when our Codex drops?
>>98700471
>>98700389>How do you feel about yesterday's reveals?Mostly a 30k player these days, literally nothing for 30k so lame, LOTD look good tho
>>98700408They're actually the most playable ones considering how little there is to playing them in the new edition.
>>98700488>How safe is our Land RaiderIt's not safe at all, why are the side guns mounted right in front of the escape hatch???
>>98700496Can you try that again.
>>98700472so for one, the way the codex is formatted is different.4th has rules alongside lore, and then later on in the book they have a section showing off the models. 11th edition has 100 pages of pure lore and models, then past page 106 goes purely into rules stuff.they also have the units lore segmented differently. with the 4th edition one there was standard troops and units first then later on there were character units. now its separated by type (for example kommandos and snikrot lore are shown alongside eachother in 11th while kommandos were alongside burna boyz, and snikrot was shown alongside zakstrukk in 4th)
>>98700425I wish they would at least release dataslates that update psychic powers for other units with the psyker keyword. That's an entire universal keyword type that has been changed but only blue boys get to actually benefit?
>>98700064>Salamanders are codex compliant space marinesThat is not what this is about.Being codex compliant doesn't mean that chapters don't have different aesthetics or that codex compliant chapter looks just like Ultramarines. Codex compliant has nothing to do with visual aesthetics/theme, it is entirely and only relevant to unit formations. You are intentionally misinterperting what I say to try twist this into something about what it isn't.
>>98700425All the power armor armies (besides sisters) and orks will be fine. But yeah, a lot of other armies are going to suffer in the Gap for a real long time and points cuts are not going to be enough because giving people more units just makes Purge easier to score. If we don't get another codex until February, that means 5 or 6 months of a stagnant meta where half the armies aren't allowed to function without terrible skew. There's also just the problem that scoring maximum on primary is so damn easy now that it makes killing the opponent before turn 4 the only viable way to deny primary and half the armies in the game just became harder to kill.
>>98700501That's how the MkV Phobos is designed.
>>98700433you can compress 1.1g of water into 1.07g of biomass with one simple trick
>>98700486Abaddon was also shot in the face by Creed's lasgun. It did nothing either.
>>98700418Yeah jews never play 40k
Alright I'm thinking of maybe trying to get my father into the hobby. All he does is work and watch tv and nothing else. He will not touch videogames at all because they have gotten too complicated so maybe getting him into 40K might work. What army would be the best for him? I'm thinking of Imperial Guard because he collected WW2 miniatures when he was a teen.
>>98700472>>98700510I’m very glad to see there was a map included with a bunch of different warzones. the numbers are meant to be keys for a little card at the front of the book that gives a quick rundown of them.
>>98700501because it looks too front heavy in the other configuration
>>98700501Imperial standard design.
>>98700516>MkV Phobos is designedPhobos is mk10, there is no mk5 phobos armor.
>>98700472>>98700525here’s how the units are presented alongside its 4th edition counterpart.
>>98700524turn him into an eldarCHAD
>>98700472>>98700533then the klans, I choose deathskulls to show off for obvious reasons
>>98700472>>98700533and finally the glyphs. I’d also like to bring up the glyphs in 4th are front loaded into that one page while the 11th edition ones are scattered around each of the unit pages.
>>98700503Agents have no faction-specific rules, only a series of by-the-numbers detachments and strategem. They also had no folio of updates when this edition began. Ergo, their codex rules are unchanged and in fact some of them became better due to changes in core rules (cover and battle shock, etc). In short, it's a fine time to join the Galactic Deep State.
>>98700513I mean, not to flex or anything but not every chapter is popular and different enough to warrant their own codexI do think every legion should at least have one hero AND one unit that suits their fighting style in the main codex though. Blueberries get vitrix guard, it wouldn't be to hard to add some sort of long range aggressors for fists, special melta bois for sallys, an extra spooky phobos unit for ravens, and it would make the fans of those chapters happy
>>98700551>long range aggressors for fists, you mean like some kind of gravis unit with... heavier bolt rifles?
>>98700522no one asked
one more thing I’d like to post is the blood axe page, where they state blood axes understand what camouflage is used for, they just don’t care and use it for religious reasons. iirc its always been up in the air whether blood axes knew this, or were a complete cargo cult where they saw splotchy/stripy patterns used on clothing and just ran with it.
>>98700583Tuffgob has it right, I say.
Newbie here. Starting to build up my first army quite nicely. What the fuck do you all use to store/travel with this shit? I seem some advertised cases for $75-$150. Are they legit, or a waste of money when I should just DIY something?
>>98700524>will not touch videogames at all because they have gotten too complicatedSo you decided to choose the thing that usually acts as a hard filter on video game players? You'll need to handhold him through the rules to avoid him giving it up, but that said:>history nerdGuard is the only answerIf he was big into US stuff in particular, point him at Cadians and let him at it. The Dorn takes a lot of its direction from American tanks like the Lee, Sherman and Pershing.Maybe play another horde army to introduce him so he doesn't feel like his infantry are absolutely pointless too.Depending on how he takes it, Bolt Action might be more his speed than 40k due to the armies all being samey by necessity.
>>98700524Why torment him with the level of detail work the Imperial Guard requires? Start him with basic Ultramarines. If he likes it, then move on to more complex stuff.
>>98700505you know what would be really kino, if you tried to actually better yourself by not posting for two weeks, painting your hellblasters, stopped posting shitty movie gifs, and stopped replying to shit talk.

Getting into eldar lore genuinely is pissing me off. Like according to the sources I can find, the fall of the eldar happened around M30 and kicked off the great crusade/ended the age of strife by actually focusing more warp energy together and making warp travel overall more viable. However this is kind of impossible with what the prime eldar empire supposedly was. In order for this to happen, it requires that during the entirety of dark age of technology humanity either took territory away from the eldar, was ignored by the eldar, or was friends with the eldar. The first one doesn't make sense because even DAOT tech seems like not a big deal to how insanely strong prime eldar were, the second doesn't make much sense because of how many human worlds there were to reconquer during the great crusade(as in, how could humans have this much space without the eldar even caring) and the third one makes no sense because if the eldar were on good enough terms with humanity to allow them to have so much territory then why didn't they help during the age of strife? I guess all of this can be resolved by saying the eldar empire wasn't actually as great as it was hyped up to be but then that kind of undermines the idea of humanity rising up to be the new dominant force in the galaxy to replace the eldar, and kind of makes it weirder that they were able to create slaanesh. It all just kind of comes out looking like a mess, which I guess is on point for 40k, but at least broad strokes things usually stay somewhat consistent
>>98701100Eldar are literally fucking retardedThats essentially the whole loreThey were as bless as could possibly be by circumstance and at every possible opportunity they fucked themselves completely and totallyThey fucked up with the necronsThey fucked up with humanityThey fucked up with dominating the cosmosThey fucked up with slaaneshTheir entire lore is that theyre fucking stupid and once you understand that it makes more sense

Are Sacresants ever worth it in a unit of 5? I'm trying to find a unit to put into an Immolator to take advantage of Sanctified Immolation to its fullest. I was already planning to put a Hospitaller/Dogmata on them, just wondering if it's even worth it to run 5 Sacresants or if I should go for Retributors instead. My game plan is>start unit inside Immolator>run it as close to wherever I'm going (probably the center OBJ) as possible>dump unit onto OBJ or close enough to be a threat to it>run Immolator at nearest ball of enemies until it explodes, shooting them the whole way down

>>98701100The Aeldari Dominion was never a large empire, their entire civilisation fit inside of the Eye of Terror. They were also neck deep into their pleasure cults by the time the DAOT really took off and humanity started to expand. They were still the Galactic Hegemon but they didn't care about anything outside of their own backyard so they let humanity do whatever the fuck they wanted. The only time the Dominion ever interacted with the Wider Galaxy was through the craftworlds, planet sized trading ships used to satisfy the wider Dominions bottomless thirst for Novelty and Luxury. The Exodites realised the Dominion was committing spiritual suicide so they fucked off and terraformed a bunch of planets on the galactic fringe to become Elf Amish. Then later the Tradies started having Nightmares, realised the Dominion was committing spiritual suicide and fucked off on one way trips in their repurposed tradie ships, later becoming the craftworld Eldar. Finally, the Webway ports that the Tradies used to pull up in to drop off their wares started sponsoring more piracy and slave raiding to replace the tradies, after the fall these guys became the Dark Eldar and the webway Port Cities were one by one consolidated into the Commoragh Urban Sprawl.

>>98701243My hope is that all the Codexes go the way of the Ork and Space Marine Codexes and have lots and lots of new lore about general clan/monastery structure to help inspire more homebrew variants of the established ones.
>>98701118No, none of that is really worth putting in a sacrificial transport. Most people use immolators with flamers to strip cover and put melta dominions in them for scout. It's not like with marines where I clearly NEED to make my own chapter to fully explore the ideas I'm interested in without bumping up against canon lore and characters, but I still kind of do a little bit and it makes me feel kind of snowflakey. >>98701357There are lots of minor Craftworlds mentioned in the lore that you can impose your own color scheme on. You can also use alternative color schemes for Craftworlds you like, the older codexes do have alternate schemes for each major Craftworld. You can also very easily justify different schemes as "campaign colors" or "colors signifying this and that in their lore or honoring a historical event". Eldar can psychically change their armour colors I'm pretty sure. I'm painting Iyanden right now, but the way I'm planning to paint the army, using multiple different alternate, but still cohesive, schemes, my army won't just be "holy fuck that's a lot of yellow". For example, lore friendly Wraith constructs can also be Wraithbone white as the primary color with blue helmets and accents. Or, in one of the 'eavy metal schemes, they incorporate black, white, a really deep blue, and just a sparing amount of yellow. You can play around with things and still be "lore accurate", more than SM for sure.

>>98702806Well the only army with no named characters is the least popular army in the game and the army with the most named characters is the most popular army in the game. So named characters are objectively good.
>>98702834I've played a few test games with the new marine codex and for the most part, t3 armies will want to wait until their codex drops bc it's noticeably harder to get damage through to marinebabbs without spending cp or committing multiple units. >>98702896I'm pretty sure it was a rather uneventful discussion, making them primaris raises needless questions about how they work and what happened to the previous ones, while keeping them firstborn makes them more exceptional because they look older and sticks to the basics of their original concept>they are a small and specific group of marines cursed to a form of undeath by a warp translation and now appear like ghosts to help the imperium anyone expecting them to be expanded into some grand plot point about the fate of all soldiers with the god emperor, or for cawl to start giving them upgraded equipment was being absurd.

>>98702919That's probably the more mundane but realistic scenario that happened.I think GW is now "teasing" firstborn marines more than ever because I think Primaris are 10+ years old now. >>98702967>Was the Mk7/MK8 helm on primaris armor canon from first releaseYeah they always said from the beginning they specifically designed the kits to be compatible with old heads and shoulder pads so you could swap helmets. You couldn't really do Mark 6 on them before they started reducing the gorgets though, the poses were silly to get the beaks to fit.

>>98703021 (me)>>98703013If you haven't made a wet palette yet you should. The thing is stupidly good that it makes me wonder why GW isn't selling their own one.As for paints like inks or washes or contrast paints a white ceramic tile (if your hardware store lets you buy just one) will work nicely too as the dry palette. Some people say metallic acrylics shouldn't go on a wet palette. Some say it is fine. I keep my metallic acrylic paints on the ceramic tile just out of habit. A single ceramic tile I think was less than 60 Canadian cents when I bought it, but this was pre-covid pricing. Hardware stores want you to buy them in bulk.A DIY wet palette is generally a plastic tupperware with paper towel and baking paper as the palette that gets moistened up and the moisture keeps paints wet so they don't dry out having you have to get more.I've used a sponge but I'm planning on giving some Swedish dish cloths that can be machine washed a try in case of bacteria buildup.

>>98703202Don't think it to a glaze level, you just want it thinned enough so that it goes on smoothly.

>>98703221okay so a good coat is my goal, no clumps and full coverage. I can start there. I just had glaze on my mind because I watched something about that zenith something priming and then how opaque paints have less effect there.
>>98703229I think I've heard people say that you want the consistency of milk but your mileage may vary. Some paints require more layers than others. Zenith is just a way to paint something fast but you have less control I think.

>>98703288They basically take a lush biosphere and turn it into a lifeless asteroid
>>98703202>>98703232"Consistency of milk" has always been dumb and meaningless advice and personal peeve of mine whenever anyone says it. The goal of thinning your paint is that the paint should effortlessly flow off your brush. You shouldn't need to put any "force" as it were to get the paint to come off the brush. And the counterpart to having the right consistency is to not overload the brush so that you have a nice point and the paint doesn't run off the brush when you touch the model. This is how you paint neatly and how people are able to freehand tiny calligraphy. The opacity will obviously depend on the paint itself and what exactly you're trying to do. A basic base coat layer, a very thin glaze and basically everything in between should control the same coming off the brush even though they have different opacity and different amounts of water or medium in them.
>>98703305Yeah but it's very likely the guy's a beginner so you have to give them something simple to start with just so that they can get paint on the model and see how it all works firsthand.
I feel bad for beginner painters who obsessively thin trying to work with AK, TTC or Pro Acryl paints that are already bordering on too thin (for a brush) out of the bottle. Brush hydration matters way more than how thick the paint is.

Man herohammer just kills the feel of the game for me. Every army I see is running named characters. Every Ork army has Ghaz, every Eldar has Phoenix Lords etc. I wish GW balanced it like WHFB/TOW where named characters had more niche use.
