Same for this cyoa.

False, Anal cancer is primarily caused by biological and viral factors, not mechanical friction or the insertion of body-safe objects.

While they do not cause cancer, butt plugs can cause temporary physical injuries if used improperly. Risks include anal or rectal tears, bleeding, or hemorrhoid irritation if you do not use enough lubricant or force a toy that is too large. However, these are localized tissue injuries that heal, much like a cut on your skin, and they do not mutate into cancer cells.

Drawbacks are a shit mechanic that everyone includes because they see other cyoas have them. They bring literally nothing to a cyoa. And they are always ignored except for when they can do the thing you said, use them to get a super build that was never intended to exist.

I'm fairly anti-drawback for the same reasons but I think you're being too categorical. Some options are best formulated as drawbacks.
I think drawbacks are more fine in CYOAs where there's no broad magic/scifi toolset available that seems like it can solve everything. Eg: present-day zombie survival cyoa, you have no hearing - that's a good drawback.
>>
>>98715455
that gil island cyoa
>>
>>98715499
The problem is. If a drawback is so shit that not a single person picks it (very common), then it is literally the same as if it didn't exist. It is, 100%, a waste of space.

>>98715525
>>
>>98715418
I'm also a drawback hater but one thing I think helps is adding drawbacks that aren't tied directly into a generalized point pool.

When you use a point pool the player is forced to compare their most acceptable drawback against every individual option in the cyoa; and the drawbacks will win out almost 100% of the time unless they're unreasonably harsh.

Better to have a "pick one drawback for each perk you take" section or similar if you really want that mechanic in your cyoa. Something to limit the scope of the decision and make it a more difficult choice.
>>
>>98715522
>If a drawback is so shit that not a single person picks it (very common)

On that note, a shiki-like vampire cyoa could be cool. A solvefag cyoa - you will either succeed in taking over the settlement or not. And it would need a more sensible premise for the conflict. The exact premise of the anime/manga/(novel that hasn't been translate to english) was intentionally absurd - it was just a little girl's dream to establish a village where vampires can play society and she was charismatic enough to pull everyone along - but as her daywalking lieutenant says it was obviously never going to work out long-term even if they did succeed in taking over.

Is it evil to eat the souls of demons that exist to cause the biggest amount of suffering and using the power from eating those souls to keep defeating those demons and remove a big staint of suffering from the world?

That is debatable. I would argue that eating a demon's soul is equivalent to destroying the demon, just fueled by a profit incentive. This is besides the point, though- 99% of Sons also eat mortal souls by the billions and are incentivized to keep eating them. If a Son eats even a single reincarnating mortal soul, he's caused an, over the scale of eternity, infinite loss. Most Sons, upon awakening, will immediately massacre and eat the local criminals in their community, who could've reincarnated and changed as people.

Not eating the soul could let it to reincarnate and keep doing evil. Its either sealing it eternally or destroying it. And sealing it would be a form of torture by itself unlike destroying it.

> This is besides the point, though- 99% of Sons also eat mortal souls by the billions and are incentivized to keep eating them

Not really, in the lore its stated doing that is considered low level shit and mocked by the rest of sons. A Karac type of Son is very weird and a product of Karac hating everything because of his backstory. Of the other 3 elder sons you can see others more common approaches.

He Who Pursues who is dedicated to killing demiurgues because of his own backstory, largely ignoring everything else that is not his hunting obession. Demiurgues who also cause untold amounts of suffering so he is a net positive.

Petros that created a paradise in his sanctuary and whose method if giving people happy life and then making them go to the sactuary, causing joy to the point he is respected even by the Mother's side. Basically making the common intepreation of an afterlife paradise a reality.

And Soleac that is just hunting people that kill Sons.

>If a Son eats even a single reincarnating mortal soul, he's caused an, over the scale of eternity, infinite loss.
Not really, souls have a limit. And with this I am sure you are the "limitless" authist that thought its better to be tortured for a trillion of years with a 1% of escaping each trillion of years than to die in 1 second. More or less, I remember how you were very adamant about any amount of torture being better than dying.

Ah, anon-kun, I see you remember our conversation from... I think it was last October.

>Not eating the soul could let it to reincarnate and keep doing evil. Its either sealing it eternally or destroying it. And sealing it would be a form of torture by itself unlike destroying it.
I agree, demon souls need to be either eaten or destroyed. Eating is just more profitable destruction, which Sons and Entropy-aligned beings are capable of because burning it destroys the corruptive component, so it's just reduced to purer, raw energy.

>Not really, in the lore its stated doing that is considered low level shit and mocked by the rest of sons.
Can you point to a single line of lore or author statement saying that mass mortal genocide is frowned upon by Sons? The only thing I remember Sons mocking in regards to Son behavior (besides trooning, obviously) is a Son knowingly cooperating with demons. Mass mortal genocide is a bit inefficient compared to hunting more powerful souls, but genocide Sons are just as respected an archetype as hunter Sons. If anything, genocide Sons remove more breadth suffering by dint of eating more souls, whereas hunter Sons remove depth of suffering by eating powerful souls.

>A Karac type of Son is very weird and a product of Karac hating everything because of his backstory. Of the other 3 elder sons you can see others more common approaches.
There's nothing to suggest that Karac-style Sons are rare, outside of the fact that Sons as a whole are extremely rare. I suspect the most common Son archetype is a hybrid, genociding some, hunting some, as the need or whim arises.

>1/3
>>
>>98716756
>He Who Pursues who is dedicated to killing demiurgues because of his own backstory, largely ignoring everything else that is not his hunting obession. Demiurgues who also cause untold amounts of suffering so he is a net positive.
Eating Demiurges is clearly a net good to the wider cosmos, I'm not contesting that at all. At no point though is it said that He Who Pursues limits his hunt to Demiurges specifically, demon lords are also mentioned, and it is safe to assume that he also hunts other powerful individuals. He doesn't bother to genocide chaff but I doubt that he at all restrains himself from eating the souls of fodder he comes across.

>Petros that created a paradise in his sanctuary and whose method if giving people happy life and then making them go to the sactuary, causing joy to the point he is respected even by the Mother's side. Basically making the common intepreation of an afterlife paradise a reality.
Petros is the archetype of the moralfag Son, who only consumes souls humanely and ethically. He is still causing an eternal cessation of each soul's potential for the sake of his own power. That is evil, but the way he goes about it is the least evil way. The Mother's followers respect him because he mimics their approach by creating a paradise from his sanctum, unlike they, who make worlds into paradises.

>2/3
>>
>>98716760
>And Soleac that is just hunting people that kill Sons.
Soleac is a very special case, and there is not necessarily anything good about what he does. There is no moral criteria in his actions outside of annihilating Son killers. It doesn't matter why a Son was killed. If you hunt and down and kill a Son for the challenge of it, you are dead. This is Soleac rendering justice, which is good, if you adhere to the Son ethos, or neutral, if not. If you hunt down and kill a Son because he genocided your home dimension, you are dead. This is Soleac taking vengeance, which is good if you adhere to the Son ethos, or evil, if you do not. Soleac doesn't care. He is the Ur-Son and only concerned with upholding the brotherhood of Sons.

>Not really, souls have a limit. And with this I am sure you are the "limitless" authist that thought its better to be tortured for a trillion of years with a 1% of escaping each trillion of years than to die in 1 second. More or less, I remember how you were very adamant about any amount of torture being better than dying.
Souls have a limit of torment they can endure. It is evil to torture them in the first place, but it is also evil to eat them rather than let them return to the flow of reincarnation and recover. I don't agree with the ethics of soul consumption, it is an inherently evil act and the worst possible thing that could happen to a soul, because it is definitionally the last thing that can ever happen to a soul. This does not mean that I would not eat a soul for my own benefit if I were a Son, I totally would, but I am not under any delusion that it is not a hideously evil act.

I think it is an evil act because I don't agree with the Father's moral purview, which states that oblivion, that is, total erasure is preferable to an ultimately finite amount of pain. Given the choice, I would obviously prefer to be eaten and cease existing than suffer for eons and then cease existing, but if there is even a 0.000001% chance of eventually escaping or fighting my way out of hell, I would take that chance. Jumping straight to soul consumption is just a defeatist mindset. Anything is better than nothing.

>This, btw, still doesn't say anything about Alta. Alta is canonically a neutral gift, and there are canonically evil ones.
Neutral by the morality of Sons. The only good gift is Astra, she is a qt. 3.14, but Elaine is probably the least bad, even though I have little-to-no attraction to her. Alta is chivalrous though, and has that going for her. Even with her pitiful soul capacity, but I headcanon that their soul capacity can likely expand over time, as otherwise she gets obsolete fast.

perform mass acts of painless (or at least as painless as possible) genocide to claim souls or send
them back to the Father. Some do so for ideological reasons, some simply want more power. A lot of
Sons dislike this, and instead hunt for powerful and evil souls, as Feast of Evil is a perk available to
all Sons and they have a natural advantage against some of the mightiest evils in existence
killing people is actually low level shit as time goes on.

>>98716760
Its not mentioned he only hunts demiurgues but his obsession with them is. We know there are "hunter" types of sons that search for strong souls rather than a lot of weak souls, he would fall into this.
> He is still causing an eternal cessation of each soul's potential for the sake of his own power.
He likely has feast of evil and uses the souls of demons and beings like them.
>>98716769
> and there is not necessarily anything good about what he does.
We were talking merely about being evil. Proving someone is not evil is all I need
> but it is also evil to eat them rather than let them return to the flow of reincarnation and recover.
Evil souls are going to get snatched by demons or demiurgues and used until they explode by the pain limit. Only souls that realistically reincarnate are neutral or good souls. So its morally correct to spare the suffering.

>but I am not under any delusion that it is not a hideously evil act.

>Neutral by the morality of Sons
Neutral in general. If she could just live a normal life in 100% secure world with just her Son she would not feel any need of inflicting suffering of any kind to anyone. Because she is not like that. The cyoa speaks about this.
Meanwhile someone like Drace would have that itch. And someone like Ectos would prefer if she had a way of helping people.

> but Elaine is probably the least bad, even though I have little-to-no attraction to her
bro... Ectos is literally the most kind hearted one to the point she avoids any kind of combat except defending herself.
>Even with her pitiful soul capacity, but I headcanon that their soul capacity can likely expand over time, as otherwise she gets obsolete fast.
She doesnt get obsolete at all.
First, to get obsolete you need a competition, between almost all the other gifts in existence is the same. Max soul capacity is also a way to balance gifts in a way or another, some gifts like Kiryu really need big amounts of souls to fight at full capacity. Alta doesn't.
Her abilities are either free passives or low cost actives she can use in short moments.
Eyes of the End? Passive, free and btw op af
Auras? Passive, free
Aligned magnificence? Passive, free
Only Physical empowerment and entropic imbue are actives that cost souls. And both of them tend to be low cost 1-2 seconds things. Physical empowerment even has the passive stat buff if you train.

Apart from that, she is a skill merchant, her martial skill is basically the best possible so the only way to defeat her is overpowering her. And then her physical stats are stronger than usual and grow the quickest of all gifts as well.
There is literally no way for her to get obsolete at all

I took number 7 as you can share the perk you got from said number. Your magical build with all of this should be nuts compared to mine that should be lackluster. A shame you didn't get the holy magic one.

Mine btw was
1 x3: got naturally two number 1 and used my free choice to get the third, getting all 13 gifts and completing the giftdex. I also think the "slightly more competent and stronger overall" multplied by 3 is a notorious buff that should make even a slightly below avera Gift like cocoon Bloom be above averagel, let alone the rest that are already strong. And maybe fix Drace's competence somewhat.
6: Supremely talented in warfare, strategy and combat. To get closer to Alta. I got an all around build so this helps all around
7: like you, but I picked Extra lives. It was between this and HUD, but I think all my minions, descendants and gifts (except poor Elaine that already got it) having 3 extra lives is op. An undying army. Making phylacteries for foot soldiers is too expensive and not worth it. But making them instantly get 3 extra lives that recharge overtime almost guarantees long term minions getting stronger and low amount of loses if any at all from wars. And also, it would make me be more relaxed from gifts dying as I got Devotion its particularly bad if they truly die.
Do you think Astra can get extra lives and phylactery btw?
16: I got a build with all dream powers except dream's modifiers (exclusively for the buffs) and I got the luck to land on this one. Compliments it perfectly

>What if she encounters that one houndlet who is actually unbeatable and not deluding himself that he is like 99.999% of other houndlets?
He still can't access the dreamlands.
Easy.
The main power of the dreamlands build is how few people have access to them, and even more how between those with the powers, its even more rare to be both powerful in the waking world and the dreamlands.
So the houndlet would have to have a lot of luck to have dream powers, then even more to be powerful in the dreamlands and even more to get access to it in some easy way thats not letting his body defenseless.

The problem with houndlets is that their powers have a neutral alignment. In theory, a houndlet would be just as dangerous in the dreamlands, but in practice, actually getting there is difficult-to-impossible. Not to mention that a houndlet needs to see things to damage them, and nobody else does illusions like dream denizens. Probably the best way to kill a houndlet is to isolate them from their empire in the dreamlands, and them ambush them with overwhelming force before they can start summoning more minions to build a new dream empire.
>>

>The problem with houndlets is that their powers have a neutral alignment. In theory, a houndlet would be just as dangerous in the dreamlands,
Its different. Being powerful in the dreamlands doesnt come from alignment but you having dream powers or not.
Thats why a Son with no dream powers gets weaker there and a Son full dream powers gets stronger, despite being the same alignment.

Dreamlands beings in general also seem kinda detached from the alignment thing, never mentioned in that way with other alignments. Its a vip club, you either have it or you dont, but in exchange they tend to be weak as well on the other side (tend, because the Son build is the exception)

> Probably the best way to kill a houndlet is to isolate them from their empire in the dreamlands, and them ambush them with overwhelming force before they can start summoning more minions to build a new dream empire.
Harpoon into the dreamlands keeps being one of the best strategies. But at that point he is fucked up unless travelling to the city of the Dream King, and thats almost surely a suicide. Even if on paper he should be stronger than the Dream King, he gets weaker in the dreamlands and the Dream King is in his turf with allies and his own troops while the other guy got separated.
He is fucked up anyway

Was reading over the Gifts again and noticed something - can Ester just mass produce Time Stop grimoires with Elder Ink? Seems like it would make her by far the strongest Gift, just lets you have minutes worth of frozen time by burning dozens of grimoires back to back.

Also Stillness + Malevolent Territory is really cool, might turn my territory into a library thanks to the knowledge absorption aspect of Stillness.

Forget nuclear anon, father's self insert, and dreamlands builds. The real question is... WHO IS BEATING JOHN ENTROPY?!
>>
>>98717361
Sweet, thanks. Yeah it was pretty good, but I don't remember how I planned to deal with Suicide as its every 300 days while Respawn only regens once a year. I know blowing myself up was a part of the plan, but doing the math it's like a 13 year time limit and with no Phylactery to speak of, seems like it's a bit too short lived for a Supernova build, even for my tastes.

Honestly the defense to my own attacks is probably one of the best parts, kind of makes the whole set up with Malevolent Territory moot as setting off a nuke on top of myself is the most optimal move. With a sap modifier I only need to kill 10k people to get enough souls back, which is pretty easy to achieve. Didn't realize a lot of WB's had drawbacks on top of their changes which makes it easier to be less shoehorned into one role despite the build's intentions.
>>
>>98717361
Time stop got nerfed when EA realized real timestop was too broken (Italics did too. For some reason, authors forget time stop is broken lmao). What you just said basically undoes the nerf. Which means, if EA was here, he would nerf it again. Thankfully he is not.

Dark Sovereign: Your minions are more powerful than they would normally be and are much more effective at their tasks. Summoning minions costs 33% less souls than normal. You start with 2 free Gift summons instead of 1. Your mastery of death magic is absurd, even Ectos could learn from you. You can weave spirits and create complex undead servants with a flick of your wrists, armies rising from the ground to serve you in a split second. All areas touched by Drain Nature will net you more souls, and when fully absorbed, will begin creating random Undead over time to serve you. You may appoint 10 minions as Royal Guards. They can be summoned to your side once a day, and will take any damage in your stead if you’re ever harmed. They become much more powerful, in between a top tier minion and a Gift, in terms of strength. You can appoint a Royal Guard once every 3 months. Liches become excellent architects, engineers and inventors, and will create massive palaces to your specifications. Inside these palaces, you gain Sleepless for free.

>>98717361
Elder ink grimoires are 5x the cost of a regular spell and timestop is very mana intensive, so she probably doesn't have the capacity to make them in the beginning. But after her mana pool grows big enough I don't see why she couldn't, and that alone would make her the best support gift.
>>
>>98717539
The only thing I feel like I might be missing is I wanted to take aligned magnificence, but couldn't fit it. I also wanted to see if I could get reap and spirit armor, but again, couldn't afford it. Overall, pretty happy with this one though, I can divine promote dark smite onto my death lords and death lord gifts, and death mages/liches get stuff like blood magic and soul magic. Also, all elder vampires including kirillia that just don't have physical empowerment for some reason will have them divine promoted on them at creation.
>>
>>98717438
Actually, now that I've really gone through the list I think saying a lot of WB had drawbacks was a bit unfair, they mostly just become more minmaxed aligned for some. Others can just be pretty short or so number focused they feel really small.

Though I would say something like Repeated Armament is straight up bad. Unblockable pain on a damage resistance that takes time to build and the only way to lower it is to completely reset your resistance? That's real rough. The secondary bonuses are also pretty small which makes the headliner ability even more disappointing.

The defense based WB's seem like some of the stronger ones. Unassailable Pillar and Unending in particular. The Strongest also seemed very strong as doubling all the stats of Malevolent Territory as having those base numbers combined with the possible modifiers makes it possible for 24/7 uptime on it as long as you have the souls. 100k every 16 hours is high but when you have a floating territory of death, the difficulty lowers quite a bit. Especially with allowing Void Cutter to harvest souls which is an insane buff. Unfortunately, doesn't seem like it was an official WB which explains why it's so strong. Wish the WB posts were linked instead of just the builds to make it easy to see, or if they were even given by the author in the first place. I remember being irritated at how hard it was to find the actual posts cause of this.
>>

I would grab Oblivion Strike if you want it purely for a Death Lord buff, but stuff like Fleshwarp (for adjusting the flesh of undead or adding certain organs to Death Lords that would scale with Physical Empowerment) and Perish Song+March (which are scalable soul gathering methods that can be easily slapped on Death Mages/Liches or promoted onto undead) would probably be more thematic.
>>
>>98717539
Any reason you didn't grab Homogeneous Existence? Seems like a free +2 SP since you only have 2 Non-Entropic powers.
>>
>>98717594
Hmm, I was thinking of still trying to be an at least decent physical combatant, but I guess I really don't need too. Fleshwarp doesn't really work with it as I can already manipulate undead (i.e. all of my minions including gifts) with necromancy, soul magic and blood magic, and fleshwarping requires like special ingredients and is a one time thing. Perish song, I just don't like singing. Not bad calls but still, I will probably switch out entropic imbue and dark smite for something else.
>>98717604
Nope, I just completely forgot, good call anon thank you.

Skin-Shedding is about meshing and merging disseperate agents. Highly useful for properly merging Mutations and Cybernetics (among other things) to their utmost potential, along with the energies to be traded or taken from others.

I supposed body enhancement was the way to go, and fit thematically. but I'll allow others to further theory-craft, what is most optimal.

Stories take time to grow.
>>
>>98717618
If you're willing to drop both of those, maybe Arcane Magic + Elder Ink? Arcane Magic is just a general buff for mage builds and would probably boost your ability to mix Necromancy/Soul Magic, while Elder Ink is arguably one of the best powers in the cyoa if you have Liches. They can just make a bunch of grimoires from various magic systems for you to use.

Elder Ink can also be applied to your undead to give them one-time use spells, or turn them into suicide bombers (though shelling out for Grim Puppeteer would be better for that).
>>
>>98717594
>or adding certain organs to Death Lords that would scale with Physical Empowerment
Does that work? Giving a death lord something like electroreception from a shark or hydra venom would be strong on its own, but then multiplying that hundreds of times over with a few levels of Physical Empowerment would be absurd.

>>
>>98718010
NTA, but I personally really like machine transcendence because it also provides a avenue of progression outside of cultivation trough tech knowledge which would be extremely powerful in a lower realm world like earth. It's pretty much the most optimal method if your planning to stay and rebuild earth.
>>
>>98718023
Technically a soul is *** mana points, you can also cheat the logistics a bit with wither and fleshwarp just make aspecies soul cattle artificially age up it's eggs with wither and harvest those 15 year old embryo souls.
>>
>>98717918
>>98718013
Well "technically" Master Oogway is a Buddhist Monk but anons point is that Daoist characters in Cultivation stories are usually dirtbags and only pay lip service to the idea of enlightenment. Anon wants to be an actual wise, compassionate, being in harmony with the universe (and empowered as a result). Pacifism not 100% mandatory but at least trying to be in the path of goodness (although duality itself is an illusion).

My issue is moral not what the optimum soul farming strategy is. Not murdering people for souls is better I suppose, but a soul is a soul. It had past lives and would have had future lives. I am taking it a bit too seriously as an /x/ cross poster who actually believes in some of this stuff (top tier references to real Occult stuff though). Honestly a few souls wouldn't be a big issue for me, but it's full on industrial loosh farming one way or another.
>>
>>98717539
You know I was thinking of maybe trying to do the gacha roller thing but my author WB is just better than basically anything on there.
>>
>>98718063
You have to remember that real life metaphysics are different from the metaphysics of fiction. Good may be inverted and evil may win in fiction. Of course, keeping your morals while playing is good, but not indulging in evil games is better.
>>
>>98718027
For all the meme wars about forge vs machine I agree that this is what really differentiates the two. Forge is strictly better in a direct sense but the value of machine transcendence allowing for an alternative and rare chain of progression is really what makes it competitive. Helping Earth is certainly one way, but I personally like that it changes what we consider resources or more broadly"good fortune" related to this. Rare and valuable tech isn't going to be hunted for as intensely as an equivalent artifact and people in possession of it may not even value it. Like if an ancient sect had a rare gizmo you wanted they might actually be willing to trade for it compared to a strictly magical artifact.
>>
If you take machine transference but dont take living forge you're genuinely retarded.
>>
>>98718084
>not indulging in evil games is better.
Well that's were I am at. Being a son is too much for me to make a build, even fully acknowledging it is a fictional setting with a different cosmology (I.E calling the father "evil" is incorrect from a lore perspective).
>>
>>98718063
Sure, but using embryo farms is probably one of the most moral way to gather souls, instead of grizzly factory farms or forcing tithes on families for souls, you just get a lot of blank slate souls with no sensory experience, so they can return to thr cycle without any excessive suffering after being used up.
>>
>>98718063
>caring about the souls of those he's killing
They exist only to add to my forces. You ain't built for this life little bro.
>>
>>98718098
>return to thr cycle
Umm anon that's my issue. The souls are permanently destroyed unless I missed something. That's what entopy is, oblivion. Didn't like the Void in BloodMagic for the same reason but at least it wasn't at such a scale.
>>
>>98718092

>>
>>98718113
Huh... is that so? Never really read entropist too thoroughly I thought there was something about Father keeping the souls in a state of suspended bliss or something.
>>
>>98718092
It's redundant IMO. Anon choosing skin shedding makes more sense since it has the artifact feature of forge, while being more differentiated and versatile.
>>
>>98718125
Well I certainly think so, but in setting they do have the justification of the fathers existence in the first place (he is a cosmic force of nature). Calling him evil is like calling water evil. Once again I agree that it's BS but that is what they would say.
>>
>>98718126
I have been procrastinating on reading it and just did for the first time so I might have missed that.
>>
>>98718126
No, the souls Sons eat straight-up cease existing. Eternal bliss is the opposite of their philosophy, because it's contingent on existing.
>>
>anons only think of artifacts for living forge and forget the rest of it
>anons think the artifact part isn't the perfect combination anyways
Proof you all are retarded. No more discussion needed.
>>
Is there some way to effectively use blood magic offensively in entropist? If you used sanguine evolution and fleshcraft for a super horned lizard blood spray, with physical empowerment, oblivion strike, blood control, etc... would it do anything?
>>
>>98718158
>Thinks cybernetics and liquid metal is a good combo
It isn't and even if it was you could achieve it with tech by itself (nano machines son) without wasting a method. The stuff like the silver laced nerves, and glass eyes, are cool, but all have a tech equivalent.

>>
>>98718191
That's basically the gist of it, yeah. There is a lot of philosophizing about the need to end suffering, because suffering in the setting vastly outweighs pleasure on an eternal timescale, but it's mostly just about using souls to fuel their power improvements and better enjoy their harem. Genocides waged so that a dude can cast a few hundred thousand double whammy viagra-ecstasy spells on his dick over the next few centuries. I honestly love Entropist because Sons are so fun to imagine as enemies.
