>>98726174I feel like it's situational in most cases. Like, you could swing; but end up getting Aetherize'd and fucking yourself over; but that's about it

>>98725450Yeah, Magda has had that effect on dwarf cards.
So after Elspeth's pretty good comic, Jace's kind of meh comic and the Liliana one on the horizon (covering the Innistrad story that we never got), they're doing a bigger one for Teferi... Just sort of as a whole, I think going through his whole history with the framing device of Quint learning about him. Could be fun, though the Jace comic didn't enthrall me https://www.polygon.com/mtg-mage-of-zhalfir-dark-horse-comics-teferi-preview/
>>98726174Settle the Wreckage has brain damaged a generation of players.
Listening to Commander players say a Swords to Plowshares that doesn't target and has split second wouldn't be that good because it's still "just" a 1-for-1 and "only" hits creatures. Some people really are dumber than AI.
>>98726829Even as a commander player, those people are really dumb. Granted, they probably haven't played any card game before, but it seems like they only really care about spectacles and all-or-nothing removal

>>98727160>pauper>before modern>before cummanderwhen we start talking seriously?
>>98727193they need to add a shit ton of cards for any of the 3, which they seem unwilling to do
>>98727193Well the difference is Pauper already had events on Arena. Just no permanent queue.
>>98727220"Pioneer" on Arena is missing 2287 cards. That didn't stop them from calling it a day.
>>98727230Any format that doesn't require rare wildcards has no future on Arena.
>>98727244is it really that hard for them to just add cards? seems like it shouldnt be at this point

>>98727160They asked the italians and they just answered with "We don't condone kike tricks, aus raus" so they won't sorry cuck.
>>98727220Ironically vintage is the closest format to being totally playable on arena, but it also has the smallest cardpool of cards being played in top decks. Modern is pretty close too, but this is just the cards being played regularly, it would take a lot more to get them fully online so you could just brew whatever you wanted for those formats.
>>98727395if WOTC were competent they would just add all those cards in one big update, delete historic, and add those formats as options

>>98726829Are you mentioning them being commander players to explain why they are retarded when it comes to card assessment for real formats or was the discussion about that hypothetical card in commander? A 1 for 1 in multiplayer formats is definitely a lot less good and the low CMC matters a lot less given the higher life totals and prevalence of ramp.A 2W Instant that said 'exile target creature. Investigate' would be better than Swords in Commander games despite being completely unplayable in everything other than limited when it comes to real formats.

>>98727972>it's balanced because it's sorcery or something like that
>>98728075It's balanced because it's 2 color and does nothing the turn it's cast unless you already have a board presence. The food is bad, and the treasure is tapped. The only good thing is create 3 artifacts for 2 mana.

>>98728049Commander players valuing 3 mana removal over 1 mana removal just because it might get them a card for 2 extra mana would explain a lot about why they keep getting raped by combos and bombs.
>>987284344 extra mana lol
>>98728434Commander is self balancing, once someone combos off it's 3 vs 1.
>>98728489I was counting it as 3 then 2 extra for the clue, since it doesn't need to be paid at the same time.>>98728500It really doesn't help if everyone's stupidly running 3+ mana or sorcery-locked removal because the game is over by the time the combo resolves. Look at all the commander players that think Craterhoof is OP because they can't connect the pieces between "this guy has 20 creatures" and "this guy might be lining up an overrun effect".

>>98728902>control meta focused set>fun
>>98728434Much as I hate to defend commander players, you have it backward. Bombs run away with games when players run out of answers, not when answers are more expensive. Going 1 for 1 in a multiplayer game means you have made your position and the position of one opponent worse. You have effectively provided card advantage to your other opponents. Because multiplayer gives you much more buffer (higher life total, other players generating aggro) tempo is far less important and card advantage is king. You can obviously bullshit whatever hypotheticals you want in which Swords is better but in a vast majority of cases, a card replacing itself or being a 2 for 1 is way more important than mana efficiency.
>>98728792I couldnt have possibly been more clear

>>98729436>What am I meant to do, go win tournaments with it to prove my deck deserves to exist outside of FNM?yeah I'm not familiar with tournament structure in paper since they only recently said there would be competitive support in 2027 but if you can top8 a MTGO challenge with something in your 75 that isn't on arena, they promised to get it in at some point in the near future
>>98729440Explain the bait.
>>98728707You are misreading this information. What it actually states is "Arena is mainly comprised of free to play users all playing Standard BO1".
Pre-release tonight, I'm excited. My lgs sold out of their tickets so fast they are running one at their other store that usually does pokemon tonight.Good luck to anyone doing one
>>98728902It hinges solely on understanding how much of a target the Jace tokens are (hint: surveil and drawing are extremely powerful in 40 card decks and you need to stop your opponent from doing it as much as possible). That being said, there are a lot of ways to gum up the ground in the set and most games are going to be a slog.I don't know why WotC persists in making more mechanics that make the combat step more complicated as they state over and over that it is the part of the game new players / casual players struggle with most. Then again, most Magic players will still throw away their best creature as a chump blocker to stop them from losing 3 life when they are sitting at 15 life so this is clearly a lost cause at the point.
>>98729454What should I do then? Shoot him for being a transslop eating pig?
>>98728049Anon, not sure what kind of games of Commander you're playing but there are a lot of cheap, very problematic creatures that need to die immediately. You also want to advance your own game plan. That's why you see a lot of Plows, Counterspell, and other cards like them. Sure, they are worse but you can't play a game of modern Commander and durdle around unless your playing precons. >>98728934That sort of idea is fallacious because it doesn't take into account of the board position. If cast a Swords to Plowshares, instead of a Wrath of God, to kill your Opposition Agent that's stopping me from comboing or just nuke a big creature in my way from alpha striking then that is obviously better. >>98728673Card power is context dependent. Underworld Breach was an obviously retarded card to print (look we made another Yawg's Will but sometimes better!) that didn't do anything in Standard but was insane in Legacy. This can often be the case with combo cards or decks relying upon synergy.

>>98734049Imagine you had to hand draw every card you played on a blank card and you had to draw it accurately based on a predefined image. And the blank cards cost you $100 for 10, using anything else would have Wizards break your kneecaps. And there was no text on any of the cards you had to look it up in Green Rule Book (Standard Oct. 2026) or Green Rule Book (Modern Oct. 2026), etc. where you had to fill out all that information on your deck list and then check your opponents decklist against their rule book to make sure they weren't bullshitting you.

It also requires you to plan your session ahead way more than just putting a deck together and going to the LGS. You can have fun playing story driven matches, but the game falls apart when you try to minmax and a lot of the match is spend on doing nothing or rules checking, so you need to enjoy the company your playing with.If you have a playgroup that plays periodically, it's miles better than trying to organise playing with randoms

>>98738369>we will see a WW2 UB in our lifetime
>>98736754A format isn't balanced when the top 10 decks are all on even footing but when the bottom 100 are.
>>98738369Western liberalism “redeemed” plenty of Nazis. Hitler killed himself and this got the dubious honor of being made into the secular version of Satan, meaning the dominant ideological mode revolves around opposing the fetish of him in the name of humanism, and by contrast you have people who worship a cartoon version of him in the name of anti-establishment sentiment, further reinforcing it.If Hitler were still alive and legit said sorry and became a cloistered monk or dirt farmer or something, likely he WOULD be forgiven by a non-zero amount of people (just see what happened to Puyi). But anyway, what’s the point of saying this? Fictional worlds have no real stakes and so redemption is cheap. The “lives” involved do not matter. Most of the people hand wringing about Hitler in such contexts don’t even think he DID anything wrong. If you’re a principled Neo-Nazi (or even just a sympathetic authoritarian), you don’t think he has anything to apologize for.
>>98737943GW, RG and BG are the easy mode colors. UB and UW are also strong but requires some tight play. Personally, I went undefeated with RG. If you open enough heartwood generators and a Kiora, you're set.
>>98738494GW is good? Surprised to hear that, I was interested in it but increasingly came to the conclusion that it lacked any actual bombs to work with. Is it just good enough at common and uncommon to get away with it? Also, is Germinate Recruits playable in a dedicated GW deck or is it a trap even then?
>>98737943Green seems really strong this set, especially in the creature department. Good old green creatures + removal from other colours looked pretty strong in my matches

>>98738728NTA, but even without bombs WG can pretty easily snowball. Lots of sources of Lifegain/Counters, and a good number of flyers. Being able to grab some of the RG hybrid cards for ramp also means that you can splash for a Red bomb if you need to.
>>98739606you can improve tho. search for trick about things you want to paint. for example cleaner linework or general color mixing with what I'm assuming is acrylics. watch someone painting, trace or extend existing artworks like basic lands. this way you get more comfortable with the medium when doing original pieces. just something I had to go through too

Is playing this game an humiliation ritual on itself?
>>98740253Explain.
>>98740253Have you seen what the clowns that buy packs look like? This game now is the territory of obese women with dark red hair and their fat manlet boyfriends (open relationship only for her) with an entire room dedicated exclusively to funko pops, if you want to die of cringe but die laughing just pay a visit to any lgs or any place that sells packs, they also throw the cards away (understandable) after a quick glimpse. Also please do mind having any sort of contact with those who still subject themselves to playing this dogshit game, because there's an impossibly high chance that they might give you AIDS or some other STD with just a handshake that they got when they had their annual sex intercourse with their girlfriend.I am not even fucking kidding or being a memester here.
