So the Garou would be mad if hunters exterminated the Red Talons, but what if the hunters kidnapped the entire tribe and brainwashed them to love and serve humanity as pets and servants instead of wanting to kill them, before releasing them? Would the Garou still be mad?

The point is complete and total ideological annihilation and humiliation of the Red Talons, to the point where all that their existence manages to achieve is the fundamental opposite of everything that they were driven to do. Killing Red Talons isn't enough, I want the bodies, minds, hearts, souls and spirit of the entire tribe transformed into everything that the tribe hates.
>>
I like Red Talons, they subvert the shit you would expect from the primitive wolf tribe. They don't do honor and glory in battle, social Darwinism, stuff like that, they're only about their own survival. They're actual animals, not some kind of idealized noble savages.
>>
>>98726728
Gifts aren't created by garou and are set in stone by the concept the spirit represents o algo
>>
>>98726841
They're inhuman monsters ideologically driven to exterminate humanity. The only moral course of action concerning Red Talons is to obliterate the entire tribe, ideally in a way that crushes the spirit of anyone who would dare to follow their example.

Even if you freshly embraced a Tzimisce and dropped them in the middle of a hypothetical vampire free country, they'd still be different from the Tremere.

Tremere are if anything more parochial than their Tzimisce forebearers. While they're less geographically restricted due to lacking the home soil curse, they're 1000 years old as a clan, and tied to a mortal magical tradition (hermeticism). They're explicitly western, whereas the Tzimisce have canon broods in both India and Sub-Saharan Africa, with the possibility of more non-western Tzimisce broods. Thaumaturgy is merely a school of Blood Sorcery based on hermetic principles. Blood Sorcery has been practiced far before the Tremere stole vampirism, with many of its greatest practitioners not being Tremere (Ur-Shulgi and Baba Yaga immediately come to mind). Blood Sorcery can theoretically be learned and developed by any vampire with occult knowledge and dedication. The Tremere simply have a leg up, since their wizard origin gives them natural in-clan affinity with it, meaning that despite being only 1000 years old, their school has developed past most others in that short amount of time.

Though it is worth noting that Tremere and Tzimisce are far more similar than either clan wants to admit.
>>
>>98727210
It's a ficticious setting. In which you may be the offspring of at least one wolf.
>>
>>98727636
Lupus Garou were never human, therefore can't be considered people. In the case of the Red Talons, they are just inhuman monsters devoid of humanity and personhood driven to exterminate mankind. Ergo, the eradication of Red Talons is one of the highest moral goods in the World of Darkness.

I can only speak for my table, but we generally have it so that every Camarilla domain has at least one "the police" guy and they're a genuine concern for Hunters too. Last Vigil game I was in we ended up making a concerted effort towards making a Hunter out of one of the sheriff's deputies so we could operate a bit more easily.

Humans, canonically Invented Murder. They have no moral or ethical ground to stand on.
>>
>>98727692
While murder is a tragic crime, it involves the killing of people. Red Talons are not people. Killing them is not murder, it is pest control.

>>
>>98727597
I think the cultural background of being mages is enough to make that difference. I do not think they augmented the blood in any meaningful way aside from the home soil curse. And even that could just be Caine or some less high vamp in the chain heing amused by the mages' and throwing them a bone, right?
I think the Tremere are a lot of bluster and spooky rumors.

>Both reliant on minions due to being kind of shit in a stand up fight
>Both have no sense of right or wrong and will do whatever they want to satisfy their curiosity
>Both developed blood magic schools
>Both are into mystical weirdo stuff

The big difference is that Tzimisce are way less centralized.
>>
>>98727719
Even without the unique disciplines, they have other differences in affinity disciplines. Tremmies get Dominate, Tziggers get Animalism. These are things that we can objectively measure.

Besides which, they're not even the only time wizards turned themselves into vampires. The Nagaraja used to be wizards, they used Setite vitae in the ritual, and fucked it up way harder than Goratrix fucked up his ritual of usurpation. Nagaraja have exactly zero disciplines in common with their "parent" clan, and are saddled with arguably the most restrictive curse of all time.

Tremere definitely talk themselves up, but they're a Tzimisce bloodline at the absolute least.
>>
>>98727597
>since their wizard origin gives them natural in-clan affinity with it, meaning that despite being only 1000 years old, their school has developed past most others in that short amount of time.
It's not even that, it's specifically because they've got by far the best system for pumping out decent blood mages who then go on to make even more paths and rituals (or refine existing ones) whereas the other paths are a lot more solitary hermits.
>>
>>98727738
>The Nagaraja used to be wizards, they used Setite vitae in the ritual
I still never quite understood why they didnt just go with a cappadocian if their whole schtick was entropy/necromancy It would have also made their appearance in the Hecata a lot less jarring.
>>
>>98727661
>I already have brain damage from childhood and huffing glue
Ah, but that would make influencing you much easier, no? Doesn't matter, Iteration X is always looking for new volunteers for their cyborg program.
>>
>>98727757
Beggars can't be choosers. It's not like they had encyclopedic knowledge of the vampire clans, and I believe they did their ritual as a sort of emergency drastic measure. The Tremere didn't select the Tzimisce specifically either. The Ceoris Chantry was near a bunch of Tziggers, and so it was statistically probable the first elder they could grab to juice was one.
>>
>>98727774
>first vampire they get just happens to be from the clan where you really, really don't want to have their blood in your system
>the ante they eat for power just happens to be from the clan with the soul-fuckery discipline stolen from China
The Tremere really are a cruel cosmic joke
>>
>>98727787
I mean in most gehenna scenarios theyre getting wrecked by either the eldest or saulot
>>
>>98727675
They are not people and their mindset is primitive and often a bit alien, but because they got force converted into being somewhat human they still experience rather human emotions and long-term planning among other stuff. They can be interesting, and don't have to be entirely just a flowchart towards genocide
>>
>>98727669
>Grafts own penis to forehead
>I AM BECOME GOD!!!11!
Why are tzimisce like this?
Why are they always freakshit perverts instead of making anything beautiful?
Why do they keep getting a god complex over discount flesh magic?
>>
>>98727818
Any emotions that a Red Talon might seem to have are little more than a glitch. They are animals, not people. They do not deserve empathy, only extinction.
>>
>>98727787
Now they just need to connect their minds to the malkavian madness network so that they get a complete set of infected Mind, Body, and Soul!
>>
>>98727774
>The Ceoris Chantry was near a bunch of Tziggers, and so it was statistically probable the first elder they could grab to juice was one.
It could have been worse.
There were tons of gangrene and nosferats around too.
>>
>>98727829
>Why are tzimisce like this?
Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand gave us the answer, but the people rejected it.

Now you need to wave your hands and say something like "it's an extension of the Eldest" or "its infernal due to Kupala" or "Vampiric disciplines are inherently debased therefore..." Space AIDS was the truth.
>>
>>98727857
How would either of those have been worse? Their auspex and thaumaturgy wards shit down the throat of Nosferatu shenanigans and it's not like the Gangrel will go total war footing over them grabbing a single elder.
>>
>>98727848
Now I need a campaign where a dark ages malkavian makes a mad dash from jerusalem to ceoris, the last of 5 drops of blood in hand, in order to pull off the greatest prank of all time at both Timisce and Saulot's expense.
>>
>>98726841

>The Legend of Irad has it that, at some point in the city of Enoch, Irad the Strong sought to purge himself of all evil. Using his mastery of Protean, the ancient gathered all of his evil into a bilious mass of repugnancy and horror, and spat it out. Irad's intention was to destroy the mortal who consumed this mass of Protean, thinking that by destroying this mortal, he would destroy the evil also. But to Irad's surprise, this mortal appeared normal. Irad brought the mortal to his brother Enoch's attention. Curious, Enoch Embraced the mortal to see what the outcome would be. Thus, the world was given the Tzimisce Antediluvian.

>Too bad
Anon, hatred of powerful wild animals is the human default. Humans killed off the mamoths, shortfaced bear, megatherium, and sabertooth tiger, all because human hunters have a primal drive to genocide any threat to their children or future children.
Red Talons are powerful wild predators, and they act like it.
The hatred is just humans in their natural state of being.
>>
>>98727890
Having enough foresight to recognise that wiping out all predators causes no end of problems is also a human thing.
>>
>>98727870

>"Enoch, you're like... smart and shit. Why'd that happen?"

>>
>>98727895
Solving problems is also a human thing. The Red Talons are a problem, so they'll be solved. Any negative consequences that come with that can also be solved.

I've got a game idea I want to try, but I've never really done horror before so I'm not quite sure just how to pull it off
I don't want to go too into detail because I suspect some of my players browse here but the central idea is going into a haunted house, turning around, and the door not being there anymore
>>
>>98727933
People severely overestimate the abilities of wild animals. If you throw a sharp stick at just about anything, the animal will run away and bleed to death, especially with multiple spears. For something like a bear specifically, you wait until winter and kill it in it's den while it's hibernating, or lure it into a trap right in front of the den. Humans 1v1 melee spearfighting bears is not what actually really happened and five frail officeworker men, if taught the technique, could pull it off.

The wyrm ending is it's own style of retarded to add to the "Wyld taking over is a good thing" or "Weaver fully destroys reality , preventing stasis" ends. It was clear the wta time of judgement writers only ever read the cliffs notes of the setting.
Why, for example, is complete victory of THE DESTROYER indistinguishable from the cyberpunk route of the weaver ending? Why would the wyrm make an eternal society?
Also why are the retard writers so convinced their version of wyrm victory would be final and eternal? They literally set up a time-limited dictatorship system. The maeljin are blindly rebuilding human numbers and technology, arrogantly expecting the destruction spirits will somehow maintain eternal rule over the notoriously rebellious monkey species that managed to collapse every mundane or supernatural society ever made?

If anything, wyrm victory reads like a prequel to a Conan style setting with more biopunk.
>>
>Wyld takes over
I know they have no will, but the setting could really use a pro wyld autism faction that's basically morally ambiguous wizards/shifters/whatever who are engaging in essentially biological terrorism. No bane shit, no supernatural nonsense other than growth, natural made horrors beyond human comprehension. Of course, it isn't easy and doesn't really fit, but I feel that the Weaver and Wyld taking a backseat to Dragon/Snake-man in every gameline except Wraith and Mage as antagonist factions doesn't mesh well with the balance shit Werewolf and Mummy tries to peddle.

Thing is, that doesn't really matter in the slightest. Humanity has already gone through situatipns like that in it's past according to world of darkness lore, and according to the mokole, the wyrm has "won" a number of times long before then(And appearantly the dinosaur kings had human slaves)

this is less about evolution and more about the fact that the timeline would look like:
caine -> god decides to fuck off somewhere -> ??? -> suddenly lizard people without homid form (ancestral memories are unclear if humans actually existed or are just a corruption of mnesis, would also imply that humanity wasn't the favored of the weaver during this time nor responsible for wyrm going schizo) -> wyrm asteroid parallel to end of cretaceous period from our timeline -> ??? (now lizards get homid form, other shifters are created starting with gurahl) -> caine decides to get involved with the first city for some reason after all this shit happened, imperigum and war of rage estimated to happen during this time -> historically attested biblical flood
>>
>>98728762
DtF mentions that proto fera been strange angelic war servitors that couldn't turn into either wolf nor man but been more terrifying than a entire garou pack and the nephilim been made to fight them

so IF you need to have both the christian side of wod and the wta side of wod in one timeline then the lizard kings are probably haven loyalists during the rebellion and them having slaves would fit with the demons being (at the start of the war) more pro human than haven

and yeah caine did spend a lot of the war as being a untouchable wanderer as god intended

in werewolf space is real but has no gauntlet

in mage umbra IS space and the VE are trying to terraform it into space as we understand it
>>
>>98728828
its called an umbra because its like a shadow. wod operates on a reverse platonic cave model where spirits and the spirit world are the "shadows" cast by objects, as mage explains, the end result of emotions and thought. the near umbra parallels our atmosphere holding the penumbra which is almost a 1 for 1 recreation of the physical world. then the umbra "thins" into the far umbra and horizon, where outer space and the spirit world occupy the same space.

Even if in-person, don't expect to make your players scream. You lack the audiovisual means to genuinely scare most people. However, if you want to give people the spooks, fall back to old camping techniques.

Keep it as dark as you can while people are still able to read their character sheets. Go into the details, but keep it moving lest you bore them with exhaustive descriptions. Build a sense of dread. Have things feel dangerous without said danger making itself apparent. Have them roll perception to notice creepy (but still useful to the task at hand) details, making them wonder and worry if the next one is to notice an ambush.

I am currently at 1,438 words. Im not sure how long the drone or the changeling chapters will be but I am assuming around 10-11 posts worth of text in total. it's almost like the balance is completely out of wack and that the weaver is intentionally going under the radar because it successfully shifts all of the blame for its worst sins over to the wyrm
equal representation and symmetrical treatment for all of the triat would be antithetical to the themes of the game

Why the fuck does the Extreme Kink flaw from The Book of Secrets give so many points?
>the 3 point version is a kink that could cause bodily harm to participants
>the 5 point version is a kink that could get you thrown in jail
>neither gives you any penalties or forces you to make any rolls
>it's all roleplay and can be circumvented as long as your character keeps their pants on
If that wasn't bad enough, depression got nerfed from its previous version too. Now it gives only three points, and in addition to preventing willpower recovery on resting as usual, it can also force you to make rolls that prevent you from acting for a scene when failed.
Who wrote this?
>>

Because the LARP only vtm fans were given control of the community sites and eventually got added to the writing team.
The LARPers have a very warped understanding of how vtm was played, because that was also where the majority of all women who playing ttrpgs period played games. Unlike the actual table players that like playing Vampions(edgy superheros with fangs), the LARPer treated the game as a way to virtue signal how "Deep" and "Complex" a person they are... by doing nothing of value all session.

Anon, there are literally multiple species that only survived because of the pet industry and the zoo industry. Both are very big influences keeping nature conservation funding going.
This may come as a shock, but the industries with lots of animals tend to attrack people who love animals and nature.
>>
>>98731221
Ownership of a medium-sized dog has twice the carbon footprint of an SUV, pets eat roughly a fifth of the planet's meat and the amount of pollution caused by pet waste is astronomical. While the pet industry can be used for good, like most industries, it ultimately does more harm than good. Any environmentalist worth their salt shouldn't own a pet.
>>
>>98731275
Doesnt the corporate world (and third world countires like India) pollute far far more than any individual (minus the super-ultra rich that own private jets) ever could?
>>
>>98731285
The corporate world pollute far more than any individual to pander to the collective of individuals. If everyone took the necessary individual action, these corporations would have to change their practices.

If an individual isn't comfortable with driving an SUV roughly 20,000 kilometers every year, they shouldn't be comfortable with owning a medium-sized dog.
>>
>>98731285
Yes, but remember carbon footprint is literally a corporate tool to take pressure of their own activities and individualise the focus and reaction to climate pollution. The problem isn't industrialised pollution on an exponential scale, its you not changing your lightbulbs to LEDs and supporting a superfluous small animal.

I'm currently coming up with fun ideas for my Mexico City chronicle.
- Nosferatu subway and sewer trapped maze
- Sabbat Wacky Races game of instinct
- Wrestling match in EWW where the Coterie must give a good show and not get splatted VS El Diablo Verde
- The coterie must deal with El Charro Negro and accept his wealth, but sacrifice something in return. He is a surviving Cappadoccian with solid Resources, Animalism, and some knowledge of Infernalism. Might be an ally against Huitzilopochtli/Shaitan.
>>
>>98731433
Hey now, I never said he wasn't traumatized by his time in the hedge, he's just way too macho to show it in any way other than violence.

The other two members of the motley are also anti-arcadia and anti-keeper.

>>98731438
I hope the Storyteller really twists the knife and confronts your characters with the cruel truth that your keeper just got bored of you and tossed you away like a used tissue.

No vitriol at all I just love that narrative and think it hits on Lost's strengths.
>>
>>98731433
>>98731438
We have the following characters
>Me as the Darkling Playmate that was tricked by their Keepers Nemesis into escaping and is now obsessed with getting back and also killing the Nemesis
>Ogre Blacksmith who was kidnapped in the late 1200s for his metalworking skills and was abused by having his Keeper (and the Keepers minions) test the weapons he made against his body
>Elementalist investigator-journaist who was used as a memory book for bad and unwanted memories
>Wizened court jester who was regularly beat up for "not being funny enough" while being made to act out only tragedies
>Beast farmhand who was forced to tend to his Keepers steeds (that were ant-horses that he had to regularly fight)
>>
>>98731474
>I hope the Storyteller really twists the knife and confronts your characters with the cruel truth that your keeper just got bored of you and tossed you away like a used tissue.
Thats very likely to happen desu
>>
>>98731479
>>Elementalist investigator-journaist who was used as a memory book for bad and unwanted memories
This one sounds really cool. Is "paper" their element?
>>
>>98731499
>Is "paper" their element?
Yup
>>
>>98731474
>The other two members of the motley are also anti-arcadia and anti-keeper.
Good. /wodg/'s love of contrarianism sometimes gives me the impression that the majority of every motley is just Playmates and pseudo-Loyalists, it's just really rare to see anyone post about a changeling that is actually played straight.
>>
>>98731479
>>98731526
I am the only contrarian here and its very likely the Storyteller is going to go "nuh uh it was actually just your Keeper throwing you out lmao"
>>
>>98731177
Damn, that's quite Dark
>>
>>98731424
>The majority of the tribes
Depends, honestly there's almost no harm for most turning the entirety of the population into kinfolk but few tribes would do that. Would I trust the Shadow Lords? No. The Red Talons would never use it, but other than that I think most tribes are relatively trustworthy in terms of a general sense of scale.
>>
>>98731624
>honestly there's almost no harm for most turning the entirety of the population into kinfolk
How do most tribes treat Kinfolk?
>>
>>98731629
Well yes, but most tribes also don't bother to deal with unrelated kinfolk. If a werewolf wanted you enough to turn you into a kinfolk, you were headed for some dark romance shit anyway
>>
>>98731624
>Bro, just let your average normie find out about the triat
>They totally won't be speedruning selling their souls to the wyrm / weaver or trying to take advantage of their existance
>>
>>98731651
>This is what your average Garou thinks instead of trying to treat their kinfolk better
Dumb dog
>>
>>98731526
I can appreciate an atypical character, but when they outweigh the norm, the norm ceases to have any real meaning or value. My character's a man on a warpath, but he's autumn court, preferring stealth and terror tactics when applicable. Another motley mate, a Beast, has merged with her fetch and is slowly reclaiming her old life, and the motley Wizened got it the worst, he was taken as a kid. He's also from America, not England, so getting his life back is almost certainly not happening. He needs to forge a new one for himself.

Also I realize I said hedge instead of Arcadia earlier and now I feel dumb.
>>
>>98731199
Alright, I'm guessing that there's a catch to it. Besides getting involved with the garou, that would be a cruel punishment for your Joe Average.
>>
>>98731424

Due to malicious sorcery, (you) are now a dirty kinfolk. Roll for you tribe:

Doubles-Black Furies
1-Bone Gnawers
2-Children of Gaia
3-Fianna
4-Get of Fenris
5-Glass Walkers
6-Red Talons
7-Shadow Lords
8-Silent Striders
9-Silver Fangs
0-Uktena
Trips-Wendigo

You do get 7 points to spend on backgrounds and merits from Kinfolk Unsung Heroes book. You can get up to 7 dots from flaws from the same book.
>>
Are CofD splatbooks like VtR, HtV and so on self-sufficient standalones, or do players and STs need common, "core" CofD books as well?
If not, is the core CofD book just to play mortals?
>>
>>98731748
Each one works well enough as a standalone.
>>
>>98731748
Each is servicable as a standalone, but it's good to have the CofD core anyway. VtR core for some reason doesn't use tilts, only conditions. Which always bugged me since I find that tilts are the more intuitive of the two, and that it really benefits combat to have them.
>>
>>98731424
Also, a major effort to turn larger groups of people would definitely make other parties upset. I can see the weaver actually doing something for once. Other splats also wouldn't be too happy about that.
>>
>>98731741
Here we go, hoping for Glass Walkers. I'll spend it all on Contacts and Allies so I can get a cushy job as a middleman.

>>
>>98732093
Well they could just devolve you into an actual wolf, with wolf brain, using the Curse of Lycaon. You decide if that’s worse than being kinfolk to Red Talons.

I really want to like Princes of Darkness, but it desperately needs more customization options. This is kind of a technical question, but, is it possible for a font file to have some weird formatting issue?

https://mrgone.rocksolidshells.com/fonts.html

This page has a bunch of fonts from different WW books, all in .ttf format. It should be a simple matter of installing them, and they even preview just fine, but when I use a wizard to try to install them, the wizard freezes. And even when I manually drag and drop the fonts into the system folder use the command line to make the computer add them to the cache, the font still isn't available for my word processor.

So game's on Sunday. I haven't made a final decision on Shark's new appearance yet. Mostly because I'm also curious on the general consensus here before going further.

Something that I also just realised is that blood buffing only gets you up to 10. My new form already has a base strength of 9, so unfortunately I can't raise it more than one dot. BTW what would you guys do if you had a pool of 40 vitae? I'm thinking that since I'll be on the frontlines, I'll probably try to feed as much of my blood as possible to every nazi soldiers I meet.

The way I see it is you have a whole new body and youre the avatar of the beast-of-war.
Thematically speaking, you can approach this in one of two ways. The first way is the stereotypical way where youre hulked out and your pecs have pecs. The other way is the beast-of-war gives absolutely zero fucks about what its vessel looks like as long as it gets to rip and tear.
Personally speaking, I think you should at least have black eyes and sharp teeth. An homage to your namesake.
