There's a guy in the UK selling that specific sprue in bulk, but it's ~60 USD to get one to me in the US. Not worth it at that price, and I assume it's worse for you unless you're a different anon from the Australian guard player I mentioned it to originally.
I know I said it's a good thing to look out for, but it appears to be something I got extremely lucky on and they're extremely inconsistent otherwise. Sorry about that I guess.

If you have access to a printer (yours or a friend's, don't do it in a fucking library), might be worth a gander in that direction too. You can print guard vehicles on an FDM printer, the amount of detail isn't a concern with how blocky they are.

I think it's good for the eldar to have some sort of heavy hitters. Then again you could just make them like imperial knights where there's some degree of intertrading between the two, but then you lose access to the aeldari army rules. Maybe if mainline eldar got one more decent hull that's not a transport or the fire prism.

I will say the centaur ones here look awesome. A gigangic centaur with a scaled up laserlance would be an instabuy from me

Riptide and variants were perfect, especially since the FW riptides were specifically some nutjob making modifications with stolen resources. They were the logical extension of a battlesuit. There's no reason for the stormsurge to be a walker, in fact the stabilizers are an open admittance that the initial design is a flaw. The Taunar is neat but also completely antiethical to Tau warfare which shuns both static units and unguided artillery.
>>
>>98728690
Doubtful. Marine players are already shitting and pissing over losing OoM despite getting literally better stats across the board.

>tau mech sizing
Doesn't matter when anything bigger than the broadside just looks like shit. I don't know what they were thinking with the designs, the riptide isn't awful but definitely overly cluttered, the stormsurge just looks like straight ass (and not the sexy kind, like your aunt's flabby pancake). Both of them suffer from dinky little pea head, as well. Pic related, they needed to take more inspiration from Battletech

Only Fire Dragons, Dark Reapers and Striking Scorpions should be T4 because they're both wearing the heaviest armour Eldar give their infantry. All other Aspect Warriors should remain T3.

The Deldar Incubi can also get T4 to maintain symmetry with the Striking Scorpions. Autarchs should also get T4 but Wayleapers should remain T3.

I'm pretty married to Eldar remaining a T3 army. They're supposed to be Glass Cannons and they are currently made of Glass, they just need to actually do more damage than their marine equivalents for the same value in points.

Sisters should all be T4 tho.

I don't give a shit about OotM because it was just a boring stat boost

My problem with the new rule is that doctrines are only about mobility.
Marines are supposed to be flexible, but our army rules are only about when we can move

Weren't the Riptide variants canonically made using funds embezzled from the Ghostkeel project? Lol.

But yeah, the Taunar shouldn't exist and the Stormsurge should have been a tank or better yet an aircraft. I miss when the Tau answer to a titan was a Tigershark airstrike.

Having such an aircraft focus was a pretty unique gimmick for the forgeworld Tau, plus the Forgeworld flying wing designs were sex. Wish we could get a Barracuda in plastic.
>>
>>98728772
I'll be honest, I misread your post as saying they ALREADY looked TTGL-like
That said, TTGL mechs fit way more as Ork tech, with their gaudy yet crude designs and love of melee and lotsa guns. Hell, the Dakkarig is already pretty damn close to the Lagann in terms of being little more than a head/face with weapons and stumpy limbs
>>
I've been going for a 3 tone look for my armor but I don't really have a lot of paints for everything. Y'all think I would get good results on the gun if I base coat black, glaze leadbelcher, then edge with normal leadbelcher and finally highlight with runefang?

Tau are a victim of GW's game design because nobody cares enough about aircraft to take the fancy stuff seriously so it had to be a ground unit. Tau tanks were being put to the side for the more visually striking suits so the stormsurge wasn't going to be some Tau Baneblade. It just should have been because it wouldn't stick out so badly as it does.

The thing about the Riptide is that it fits. It doesn't replace a hammerhead because it doesn't have the same role. It lets a crisis suit assault have a suit with a hammerhead's firepower where a hammerhead wouldn't be able to deploy in the same area. It has its own niche.
The stormsurge does not have its own niche. It's redundant. You can say it's like a broadside but broadsides are supposed to be deployed by Orca. Stormsurges require Mantas. Specially retrofitted Mantas, mind you. If you need to deploy overwhelming firepower in a static position with a Manta, why wouldn't the Tau just use the Manta when it already matches titans for firepower on top of not actually being static?
The Ghostkeel fits the riptide with being able to complement isolated stealth cadres with heavier firepower than normally available without needing orbiting skyrays or entire cadres sitting around to deploy. Tha hazard suit is also a redundant unit but that was part of its fluff with the legitimate question of why have this buff suit when you can have a crisis suit which does basically the same thing for cheaper.

>At least other melee locked units like shining spears and banahees should get it.
Nah, Spears are already T4 and it doesn't help, Honestly I think all Eldar Jetbikes should be T5.

As for Banshees, they're staying T3. Howling Banshees are genuinely one of if not THE iconic craftworld eldar unit and need to be T3 because of that.

Give enemies -1 to hit and to wound charging banshees to represent the deathscream fucking with their enemies brains and give each Banshee 3 attacks instead of 2 with their Anti Infantry D2 Power Swords. Jobs good.

If Banshees are stuck in prolonged melee they should die. If banshees are the ones getting charged they should die. If banshees get shot by anti-infantry weapons then guess what? They should die.

On the other hand, If Banshees actually get to charge into melee combat with an infantry unit then whatever they're fighting should get absolutely blended in the first round of combat unless its like, a first company vet in terminator armour. Even then you can probably expect to lose Terminators.
>>
>>98728845
Agreed. The Stormsurge came about during the same period of time that GW was running out of good ideas and putting out garbage like Space Marine Centurions and Logan Grimnar on a hoversled pulled by literal wolves and other creatively bankrupt shit like that. It should be squatted and replaced.

It was also riding the fact that if a Tau player wanted something to supposedly fight titans they'd need a FW aircraft which even for FW was really specialized. They SHOULD have made a Tau baneblade but Tau were the suit faction so it had to have legs and a head and it doesn't have anything else so it's just a mismatched chicken.

If the stormsurge had been some breaching unit meant to stomp forwards from the front lines and point-blank motherfuckers hiding in bunkers and forts like a giant breacher it would have been the tightest shit ever.

They don't really have any rules at all, Inquisitors all disagree with each other on fundamental beliefs and even go to war with each other nearly as much as they do aliens and heretics.
>I just thought that it was a bit of a plot hole
Could be, yeah. But Inquisitors are also well trained to resist psychic intrusion and guard their thoughts, so reading his mind wouldn't necessarily be effective. If it was, Inquisitors would be pretty bad at hunting down rogue psykers.

The Hazard is basically in universe a prototype Riptide. Both suits were seeking to deliver exceptional firepower in a retaliation/interdiction cadre style force which didn't want to wait for hammerhead support. The Riptide was just a refinement of the Hazards purpose.

I'd like to see the Hazard make a comeback tho, it's a damn cool suit it just needs it's own niche. Maybe focus more on using it to intercept enemy CQB units? They already have the photon caster, lean into that more with a counterfire defence system and chassis mounted Flechette launchers like what the R'Varna had.

On the tabletop its job would be to screen for other Tau units by being a Tanky brick that sucks to fight in melee. Hell you could Even give it the Onager Gauntlet as an upgrade and make it the "melee battlesuit."

I just really thought about it recently as this chapter Eisenhorn peered into a traitor for the name of the demon hosts master and he the guy knew the master and might have been able to pull his name from his noodle until the demon host stopped him.

>>98728908
To add onto what the others have said, the Inquisition due to the nature of their work also know how to fortify their minds with rigorous training. Even non-psyker individuals can learn to just block mind probing, you need the secret knowledge and to put in the work to do it but that's also a thing in 40K.

The thing with hazard suits is that they were redundant to crisis suits capability but they were also tougher so they could take the dangerous close up jobs crisis suits did but also actually survive. You know, they're the guy wearing a HAZARD suit.
But it fell flat once crisis suits got T5 and 4 hardpoints since they were then outmatching hazard suits and with shield drones were as survivable. The hazard suits lost their distinction besides looking cool. The Twin Lance should totally have been in hazard suit models though even if it doesn't fit the Patlabor vibe.

The same 7th edition which looked at the absolute fucking STATE of the 6th edition Riptide and said "But what if we let you reroll the Nova reactor test, gave you +1 to BS for focus firing and gave you A FREE EXTRA SHOOTING PHASE."

You don't get to bring up 7th edition as the reason why Eldar deserve to suck shit. By that logic everyone deserves to suck shit. 7th was the worst state the game has ever been in and the Eldar Codex was one of the last released that edition.

They were the strongest army ever sure, but they didn't ruin 7th. The necron Decurion did with its cancer meta formation which completely warped game balance and started the terminal powercreep that ended with the Eldar Codex release.

If the former, why would you bother going to all that effort and $$$ when you could just buy the 40K army? If the latter, those AoS factions really don't have enough ranged shit for the attacks they're spitting out to feel believable. I know wysiwyg is gone but this is getting silly

They'd be a shit option like votann that provides nothing new besides. Nids have overwhelming chaff hordes on lock, GSC has the sneaky saboteurs, orks have scraptech with Ramshackle, and DEldar have the haemonculi. Skavens don't add anything. The only thing I could really think to give them to stand out is radiation based weaponry but even that is stepping on Admech's toes with whatever their rad-strike detachment is called.

At least a theoretical Zoats army would fill out the missing xeno niche of a low-model count elite force to counter custodes, and expand on an already existing facet of the setting to boot.

There is overlap but both deldar and have lots of other stuff going for them, and orks are on the goofy side too. Deldar do badly need the stuff they've been hemorrhaging over the years redone. As for weapons, they have gas and flame based weaponry too.
There are definitely more creative things to do than just port skaven over but I would actually expect skaven to appear at some point because it'll move plastic.

Flame based goes to SoBs, another neglected faction. Gas I guess could be "unique" but it has a lot of overlap with nid spores.

Like what? Every time I ask this skaven advocates can never give a specific answer that isn't already being provided by 40K.

So this came up in a thread yesterday, but how the fuck does SoB work with the leg armour effectively being thigh-high boots that're disconnected from the rest of the suit?

Anons suggested power cables like a garter belt, but that doesn't solve the issue that it's not the boots that need support from the chest, it's the other way around, if the boots aren't part of the main suit then the full weight of the power armour is resting on the Sister's thighs/hips.

I'd swear this was even an issue with MkI for Marines/Thunder Warriors because often only the torso was powered due to a focus on melee, yet this led to the wearers legs being overtaxed as he had to carry the entire powered armor with no powered assistance.

Except this is even worse because at least MkI legs are directly connected to the suit and thus the armour is self-supporting mechanically. SoB armour doesn't even have that.
>>
>>98729675

>>

>>
>>98729720
Then we just have the same issue. The Sister still has to carry the full weight of her powered plate + reactor pack entirely on her leg muscles with no assistance (powered or merely structural).

The issue isn't getting power to the disconnected legs, it's the legs being disconnected means the suit isn't self-supporting structurally.

the popularity of a range correlates with the size of the range, and this isn't a matter of gw expanding the range in response to popularity because they have made new ranges from the ground up and arbitrarily given them large ranges, that immediately prove popular, before any sales data comes their way as feedback

Obviously shit like space marines sells gangbusters, but I'm curious as to which xenos armies are selling the most.
I see the most discussion about orks and especially tau in recent years, but I know this doesn't always correlate to actual popularity.
>>
GW seem to like "action when..." rules this edition, even though there are very few actions actually required in games and units have more incentive to not shoot in the first place making it easier to do them. Similar thing with detection range bonuses, what kind of lists are their playtesters using to think these abilities are worth paying for?
>>
>>98729795
They're forced to follow specific recipes for stuff like armour and trim, but they can kinda do their own thing on stuff like banners.
Also probably because the details on banners are flat, so they won't look as good on camera with just metallic pigment, which need to be reflecting multiple different angles to really look good.
>>
>>98729800
Orks weren't popular outside the 40+ demographic until they because really strong at the end of 10th and are now in the starter set. The best selling non-marines are always either OP for an extended period of time or in starter sets with marines. There's a few objectively unpopular ones, but the others exist on a rough par in pure popularity.

The reason is because GW's stock ownership is 85% private equity groups and the company constantly has 20 different monkeys on their back screeching in their ear to minmax quarterly profits and do everything they can to take control away from the creative roles within GW.
It's not that NOBODY buys niche armies it's that it isn't explosively profitable to sell niche armies and the carrion-eating vultures that run private equity want the green line to go up.

All other aetheric dominions are way more explicitly connected to a known god or archetype of demon, encroaching ruin is the only one that represents undivided, and samus is meant to be undivided, or at least unaligned.

The concept of the 8 aetheric dominions wasn't present at the time the novels were written so he definitely didn't have any association with encroaching ruin there, and as a matter of fact the alleged connection to the dark king you propose is exclusively indirect through this encroaching ruin thing, regardless of the fact that the dark king is not the only entity that can represent the encroaching ruin and samus never being linked in any way whatsoever to the emperor or dark king during the novels.

Wolves popped a buggy on their turn 1, but nothing else other than movement happened. My turn, however, had me make a gigantic blunder that I wouldn't realize until my charge phase.
My wartrike riled his own unit up and used 12" movement with +1 to advances to get right up into some blood claws' faces. Ready to charge while shooting into another nearby unit. However, the other unit wasnt in range of my shooting. That was fine. However again, I completely forgot that bikes don't have mobile, and can't go through walls. So I couldn't charge the nearby unit, either. Basically threw my bikes and wartrike out into the open to get splattered during his next turn. Whoops.

Ork turn 2 was obviously waaagh! turn, so it was time for some big swings. By this point I was down 22-41 in favor of the wolves, so I had some climbing to do.
And climb I did. I used my wartrike to fallback and charge the jump pack vets instead of the blood claws. My boyz that were waiting for this moment took the opportunity to charge the blood claws instead.

I'm challenging his assertions, if the tracks are changing it's because I give him the chance to prove his stance but instead of doing so he pretends that something completely unrelated matters, or that by correcting stuff that doesn't change the point he can somehow prove that point is invalid.

Please prove he's rat faced, or prove he's at any point connected to the dark king in novels.

On the other side of the board, my warboss with his boyz unit charged the lone Ragnar and made for a very cinematic shot.
The warboss decimated ragnar on his own, not needing any assistance from his unit of boyz.
Notably, it's worth mentioning that we spent a good 10 minutes resolving ork shooting from just the 2 boyz units (12 shootas, 2 burnas, 2 rokkits, 2 big shootas, and 2 kustom shootas) to do a total of 2 wounds to Ragnar and a dead blood claw. And then we had to charge and get lethal hits and sustained hits in melee due to boyz rule+green tide rule. Just so much little doodads and abilities thrown around that I can't imagine how long a genuine 120 boyz green tide game would take.

With a deff dread and wartrike dealing with the terminators and jump vets in the backline, they couldn't move anywhere. Everything was already in combat so aside from some shooting our turns 3 and 4 were very short. Lots of bodies being dropped on both sides. The boyz came out on top in both of their combats and proceeded to get some good scoring for me.
It's time to say now that Deff dreads finally feel genuinely tough. I had 2 in this game and 1 survived 2 turns of combat against terminators, and the other survived 3 battle rounds worth of combat against intercessors, taking them nearly down on its own, too.
>>
>>98729950
No?

I said that Samus could have been intended as Khorne but retconned to the Dark King and the fact his rat-face fits the latter may have been part of it

Last picture, so I'll wrap it up here.
The terminators prevailed against the deff dread and wartrike to steal my home objective, and the boyz were able to destroy the lancer in combat and have enough time to take back the center from his remaining intercessors afterwards.
We called the game at the end of round 4 due to time restraints, which left the score at 80-78 in favor of the orks. The wolves put up a damn good fight but my secondary scoring was just a little better than the wolves'. Overall a very fun game with a lot of rules checking due to it being both of our second games in 11th.

I'm talking about the rats

also the number 12 is not a connection or reference to the skaven's use of the number 13, both are references to the recurring use of 12 in religious texts and other stories.
for example the empire of sigmar is also built around the number 12 since it was founded by the 12 tribes of the region, the symbol of the gods of law in warhammer is a sun dial, which of course is make of 12 portions, and the halo that's recurrent in aos also most often has 12 main rays to separate it from the 8 of chaos.
It's also possible that gw said explicitly that sigmar's holy number was 12, but that would have happened in a white dwarf and I'm not going to go look up for it.

orks already have the stompa kit, the naut kit and the kans, dread and new dakkarig
they would be set for a knights-like detachment

chaos knights will never stay up to the pace of models imperial knights get, and expecting them to add spikes on loyalists is too much from chaosfags, so they should just get bundled in the normal chaos codex and their detachment should give them the option to run the various demon engines as well

necrons have the scenery pieces, the monolith, the obelisk and the tesseract vault, it would be unconventional, but it would be fun to field just "buildings" for such a detachment

eldar would need a second knight type, ideally the bright stallion, and then make peace with war walkers and they would be set

tau already have their robots and knight-sized robot, having the smallest ones of the bunch makes sense for them

tyranids have a lot of monsters but not a knight sized one, give them one of those and they're ready to rumble

fuck dark eldar honestly

The Primarch of the Death Guard is named "death"
The Primarch of the World Eaters is named "anger"
The Primarch of the White Scars is named after a real Mongol leader
The Primarch of the Iron Warriors is named "I shall endure" in Latin
The Primarch of the Alpha Legion is named for Revelation 21:6, and many other lines as well since the phrase "I am the Alpha and the Omega" is used very frequently in Revelation.

They're all contrived cheesy bullshit.

When humans ride a horse for a long time they get bow legged because of the position their body spends a lot of time in. Does something similar happen to marines who spend a lot of time in Terminator armor? Using saturnine but the problem exists for all terminator armor. RG specifically have the little raven skull on their chests and GW has made the boneheaded move of refusing to sell bodies in the upgrade packs, so you get Super Special Space Wolves or -other chapter that isn't blood angels lol- with their upgraded guys and then RG has a thing but sucks.

And with all the big heckin legion chapters you can come up with at least 1-2 unique units/datasheets like even ultramarines had Tyrannic War vets and currently have victrix honour guard (which can also be used to make unique chapter ancients, captains etc.).

Calling phobos an update is dumb, at the bare minimum RG in HH should have the raven monsters and shit. I like it when 30k factions are differentiated from 40k. But GW only acknowledges squats (somewhat) but not other Xenos. Huge missed opportunity to throw in some Rangdan models.

the reason primaris plate is yucky is because it is generally canted towards further armoring of the marine than suits of antiquity and this actually diminishes his dignity as for ten thousand years such things were entirely unnecessary in the grander equation of upholding the imperium
