There's an interesting beta called Cubewar or something similar from around turnip era that's 10mm fantastical napolenonics that isn't good but neat. A guy making Starlancer posted here recently with a surprisingly inspired Arthurian space fantasy skirmish game, mechanics look aight but not great but the poetic vibe is quite good. Almost all the ruleslite wargame fad that picked up when a lot of the osr-art side got bored and had disposable income for miniatures from their childhoods are quite bad. Its all FKR some of them manged to dress up in a book deal. Market recapture of the entire indie wargaming scene was very fast too.

The Late war to Vietnam US uniforms often look almost turquoise, how would you paint this colour?

At first I thought it was because the uniform faded due to use and the elements. I thought it was the case till I looked at the USA ones, and even uniforms fresh out of the production line had different colors and not only shades of green and the USA did not have logistic issues like Japan so you'd expect less random colors.In other words if the uniforms look close enough you are fine.

>tqI played a game of Forbidden Psalm with a local dude once. He was the right kind of guy to play with, if that makes sense, as in he was very much in the spirit of having a fun game and not so much winning at all costs. However, the game just isn't very good. Artpunk nonsense aside, the mechanics are just not well thought out, and clearly written by someone who doesn't understand game design. Despite this, I had a fun time but won't be playing it again.I've also tried a few solo games off of itch.io and had varying amounts of fun with them, but they're not wargames so they're not worth mentioning here.
Finally picked up a copy of Frostgrave 2E after having looked at the game since first edition. I'm really excited to give it a go and even my wife, who doesn't play anything more complicated than somewhat complex board games and the very occasional D&D session, has agreed to give it a go with me. I asked her what sort of Wizard she wants for her warband and she said "Big ol' tiddies" so I have to find an appropriately lewd model for her. I've only gotten the core rulebook, but will likely pick up some supplements if we enjoy it. To the Frostgrave guys here; do you have any sort of advice for me?

With the wicked witch officially Good Enough, I now have no excuse not to build and paint four movement trays before Thursday. After she's varnished I'll add grass to the base and add bristles to make her staff a broomstick. Maybe I'll also do some meme shit with real twine and real fake hair to really make her look nasty. The tray thing is a bit less fun than painting, but makes improves gameplay enough that I won't skip.
