Just spent an hour having my field looped by Orvar buying back Mind Games on Talon Gates of Madara so that game was pretty shit.
>>98749301How did the Orvar player make that happen? Did he have infinite mana?
>>98749314He would duplicate Talon Gates of Madara with his commander then phase out my board on my upkeep every turn, so yes, he did have infinite mana because the loop was ramping him.

>>98749340how much söy have you consumed today?
Is there a good jujutsu commander?
I know it's cool that red is getting all these extra combat cards, but I don't like them being all gruul and boros. Where's the dimir aggro?
>>98749354None, but it's onions to not go out of your way to rile up spergs who will go out of their way to ruin things for everyone? What is onions about wanting a relatively usable thread? Can you say? Or are you just going to waffle and schizo babble at me for even asking?
>>98749390how did they solve aggro? you need to be able to kill players fast but killing a player before turn 9 is banned

>>98749645you have no way to suddenly win on t7 with a combo, i would not recommend this on a b3 pod

>>98749340The TQ, probably
>>98749667you also need warren soultrader or phyrexian altar for that, making it a three card combo, which is perfectly fine in b3I would also add chthonian nightmare for repeatable recursion for garry etc. in case you don't have your commander available, and maybe sensei's top so you don't get stuck with a land on top with citadel in play
>>98749667mike + ballistaballista also functions as an infinite mana outlet for cabal coffers rings of brighthearth infinite mana combosit also helps if your commander is a combo piece itselfsince lower brackets put limits on how fast you can combo off the key is to look for combo pieces that also function as value pieces so you don't feel bad that you have to 'sandbag' and that your pieces do nothing by themselves should the game drag on to a grind
>>98749519SureI finished my 10 3c decks and now am looking to make them all truly Highlander (1 copy of non-lands between them, minus sol Ring) In theory, what deck archetype benefits most from a 3 mana draw 3? A combo deck looking to dig for cards, control or a standard value engine deck?
>>98749701making distinctions between two-card and three-card is a fool's errand and is an outdated way from gavin to limit combo consistency; also people can't even agree on them, edhrec defines dualcaster + twinflame + any creature as 'two-card' for fuck's sakethe correct way to use brackets is to put limits on when you can combo off (in b3 that would be t7) regardless of how many pieces your combo constitutes, otherwise the whole thing gets silly once your commander is a combo all on its own
>>98749519>>98749512Yea, what do I do with this silly little monkey
Infinite combos are boring
Would commander be a better format if pramikon was the default rule
>>98749766I generally agree but if you do some meme shit like assembling all the stations you've earned it as far as I'm concerned.
>>98749701Good shouts anon, I'll try to work those in. Energy Counters aren't stored in Chthonian Nightmare itself, right? >>98749766Always have been, back before I'd say like 2018 or so, they were generally frowned upon outside of cedh (some exceptions included 4+ card rube goldberg machines)

You start an argument there trying to discern the intentions of Gavin. I disagree with you, you think three random strangers would agree or not agree with you? >>98749982I crack packs for inspiration. That's what I've done since getting introduced to commander. Maybe do open a variety, though; I did it for Bloomburrow and while I made some pretty good decks I suspect my friends now think I'm a furry cuz my decks are all animals.
Well, okay. Deleted the previous post because for whatever reason it was tipped over.Tried for living weapons/ninjutsu. Not quite where I want it to be. Got a little cute with it and cut some actual removal for etb counterspells. Afterward you can suit them up with equips to give them evasion, swing in, then put them back in hand with ninjutsu.Perplexing Test isn't as good in this deck. It'll be going out for Soul Immolation. Looking for cuts for>Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar>Thought Monitor>Thorin, Mountain King (good repeatable removal with ninjutsu)if anyone has any ideas. It seems a bit light on card draw.Ideally there'd also be room for lightning greaves since 0-mana equips can be important for ninjutsu shuffling. But I'm not seeing space for that either. There's a lot of tension in the deck as of now.
>>98750127Yes. Do you think it could happen or not? Do you see why voltron anons could be concerned with getting kicked out of tables, given how poorly it is explained? Last time I'm asking I'm getting bored
>>98749982The last prerelease I went to, I ended up pulling a bunch of cards I would never have considered adding to my deck, but have since become mainstays.I have also since then wasted about a hundred dollars on boosters and got nothing but garbage. >>98750188>brackets are all about limiting combosLet me stop you right there. Even on the very bottom of the totem pole in bracket 1 you are allowed to combo out, provided the combo is assembled using enough different pieces. >>98750283>how the bracket guidelines unfairly undermine voltron/aggroyou'd be surprised at how LGSs just set up b3 FNMs as '3 GCs, no comboing off until t7, and no mld' and no one actually talks about stopping aggro cuz of fee fees
The waifu tax on this card is absurd. One piece of graveyard hate and this is functionally a vanilla 8/8 flying deathtouch creature. I know angelsimps will pay anything to get hoverslut #487 in their decks but holy shit calm down it's a really bad precon card.
>>98750283>how the bracket guidelines unfairly undermine voltron/aggro I'll be hereI think for Voltron, the bracket system should be defined by how quickly they can deal 63 commander damage, because think about the typical problem: a voltron deck can target an opponent to kill them before the turn limit. A lot of Voltron decks can hypothetically spread their attacks, though, choosing to focus one player as a gamestate assessment. The key thing to note is that a lot of decks can hypothetically focus everything to target down a weak player similarly, yet rarely if ever are they judged by this metric.
>>98750305>I think for Voltron, the bracket system should be defined by how quickly they can deal 63 commander damage>let's see this voltron has a 30% of killing everyone uninterrupted on t6>is 30% good enough? what about 35%? what about 20% instead? 10%?yeah good luck with that

>>98750419Forgive me anon. My optimization brain takes over and I can't keep myself from running slop when I'm brewing. In bracket 2 the deck would look somewhat different, but I never build for bracket 2 except with my ironic decks. Bracket 3 is the sweet spot for my personal enjoyment. I actuallly like having those 3 "flex slots" for game changers, even if I'd rather see half the game changers flat-out banned for gameplay health.I wish GCs were strict instead of loose, though. The list needs to be bigger not smaller. Urza should still 100% be a game changer. Mana Drain is also not one. There's a ton of power cards that should have a home, simply for the sake of bottlenecking deckbuilding at every bracket below 4.Icetill Explorer, for example, isn't an obscene card. But the value it represents just makes it a no-brainer card in any green deck with fetches. In casual play it's borderline oppressive. It can create "accidental MLD" in the form of Strip Mine loops. That's just my fantasy, though. I know WotC is lazy and loves minimizing upkeep because they think the average EDH player is pre Cro-magnon on the evolutionary chain.
>>98750454Okay.Black and white can cause other players to draw cards.Red has blue specific counter spells, and white has counters spells as well. The only color that might struggle dealing with it is mono green.
>>98750464>they think the average EDH player is pre Cro-magnon on the evolutionary chain. They're right.

>>98750481They probably are but you can't let those players stay that way. You have to beat them with sticks until they evolve. WotC's constant effort at leaving things frictionless also leaves new players afraid of friction, thus they end up with smooth brains and smooth-brained takes.See: /r/EDH where you can spike your cortisol levels just reading about people's opinions on the game.
I don't really think about brackets cuz shit's casual.I build decks to be as good as I can afford and that usually means it can vacillate between 2 and 3. There's some high tier cards, but the inherent luck needed means more games will drag than instantly end, so generally it's cool.If some faggot autist gets uppity there are two tools to overcome that: your sideboard and/or your middle finger.

>>98749766In a best of one yes. But when you know what combos a person's deck is assembling, and the rest of the table isn't fucking stupid about threat assessment, they're plenty fun. Most of EDH's problems comes from the Bo1 aspect.
>>98750642This one is fine because it's flavorful, expensive, and takes clear obvious set up
>>98750607
>>98750658YesYES, exactly You get it
>>98749766There's a lot of boring wincons in EDH that aren't just combo.>I couldn't figure out a wincon to this deck so I just put in Lab Man/Approach/Breach the Multiverse/Heliod+Ballista/Blood+Bond/Dualcaster+Twinflame/Emrakul/...Yeah bro that's really cool that you self-reported you couldn't be bothered to find a wincon in white weenies that actually makes use of the fact you're playing white weenies.
I want to build a deck where I can cast cards like Decree of Annihilation, Apocalypse and Jokulhaups and then win after I blew everything up. I tried it with Abdel Adrian/Tavern Brawler and it was decent, but exceptionally boring to play with all the blink value town triggers. I've looked through every commander with red in it and settled on the old classic OG Jhoira as the best option for my MLD needs, unless someone has a better suggestion. How is Jhoira these days? Do people still fear her like they do with Kaalia?
>>98750601>>98750316This man fell asleep for a year and woke up five minutes ago.
>>98750681>KaaliaI cast Lightning Bolt
>>98750687That's true that I haven't played in a while. Our pod kinda fell apart irl.
>>98750681the problem is that if the jhoira playing is losing the temptation to just boardwipe everyone's lands just to grief is always on the table and no matter how much one insists that they're 'not like other players'
>>98749982
>>98750498Unfortunately if you want it to stay you gotta just deal with it and buy from them, otherwise its not gonna last
PostPOWERFULWHITECARDS
>>98750677>play Mardu Vamp tribal>don't play Blood + Bond + Tribute + Cliffhaven In what world?
>>98750688Yeah I brought her up because people still act like she's good and kill her on sight but she's actually bad in the current meta
>>98750617It saddens me to hear that you too have been the victim of wotcs design practices. At least we still have our dreams.
>>98750165I run this on my Tannuk commander deck. So much fun but it's an auto archnemesis deck
>>98750712
>>98750725>it's an auto archnemesis deckthat's the cost of playing commanders that are known to have notorious reputations/be combo pieces/be cheat engines
>>98750712I liek this one
>>98750726This thing is dogshit
>>98750681>Do people still fear her like they do with Kaalia? Why wouldn't they? You yourself want to cast her then suspend a bunch of MLD. Why wouldn't someone who gives her the benefit of the doubt for a rotation only do so once?
>>98750726I like how this card was so poorly-designed it caused them to backpedal on their original policy of making stax pieces asymmetrical.
>>98750707MLD is the reason I want to play the deck, and I'm a hard-core griefer, so Jhoira seems like the girl for me. Thanks anon.
>>98750735So it's best to cast her only when I have the mana to suspend all my fun bullshit on the same turn. Ok I guess it's best to build her as an izzet control deck.
>>98750732With the amount of "cast from exile" cards that WotC has been vomiting, you've shown yourself a moron and your post, bait.
white is the most oppressed color and it's not even close
>>98750712Ok>>98750732He's busted and seethe inducing, especially if you have Mother and Giver of Runes out.>>98750736I wish they didn't give him the 2010s LA millenial hipster hair/beard combo, but apart from the art, it's a great card
>>98750737as long as it's B4 (with the idea that people aren't just using that bracket as cedh-lite, which happens more often than you think) jhoira's fine
>>98750712White is busted these days honestly
>>98750712The defining card of bracket 3
>>98750712Singlehandedly wrecks all graveyard bullshit decks
>>98750769I hate this card because it's poweful but boring.
>>98750712RIP spellslinger and storm
>>98750712GOAT single targeted creature removal spell.
>>98750712Gets a turn 1 Sol Ringigger seething like you wouldn't even believe
>>98750712>shuts down your combo turn bullshit victory attempt>rams through my combo turn bullshit victory
>>98750712>only 2 mana
>>98750818>implying my combo wont be cast at instant speed in response
>>98750712Tutorfags stay seething
>>98750712>counterspell on a creatureI love how with Karmic Guide + Reveillark combo you can just bounce everyone's spells and effectively win the game by locking them out.
>>98750806Awesome
>>98750791Yup. I love how white for basically 1-3 mana has cards that will pretty much wreck every archetype. I might make an enchantress w/g deck with all of them. Gaddock Teeg my boy!
>>98750831>LOL. I always have it.
>>98750851Selesnya Sythis enchantress stax is so good but so boring. New green Pia almost inspired me to rebuild my Sythis deck but then I remembered how boring it always is no matter how I build it. Could try it again, because I want to use my Elephant Grass.
>>98750712>>98750851White is right. Simple as.
>>987507121 mana delete any red creature deck from the game. They cannot play through this shit and they can't kill it cause lolenchantment.
>>98750601He got better.
>>98750706Karn never fully turned, and left New Phyrexia for a bit. Norn took over New Phyrexia, corrupted a tree, invaded the multiverse, and Karn killed her, un-Norning everyone who got oiled (stop asking questions). The results desparked a lot of walkers, and opened up gateways between planes called the Omenpaths.Jace and Vraska also got Norned. They got better. Jace and Vraska made a plan to remake the multiverse without Phyrexia, the Eldrazi, and a bunch of other problems. Vraska dipped out, Jace continued even though the plan made no sense, and made the Echoverse. The Echoverse is the multiverse but also not. The black Avacyn, the gold Karn, the Jeskai Vraska, etc etc are all from that. Don't get attached to the characters, because the Echoverse being real would somehow kill everyone in the multiverse, so Vraska and the Lorwyn five gang all team up to (successfully) kill Jace, while his daughter-but-also-tranny-self Tam frees Emrakul who eats the Echoverse almost as soon as it was tangible. Also Bolas is free again.
Do you have an infect deck, /edh/? Does it draw groans and get you targeted, or have had luck playing it and actually won?
Getting so tired of fun games being ruined board wipes lads
>>98750977>counterspells bad>removal bad>boardwipes bad>stax bad>land destruction bad>card draw bad>game winning combos bad>aggro that wins by turn 4 bad>boardwipes badWhat will you weenies complain about next? Maybe Magic simply isn't the game for you?
>>98750967I used to, but monoblack/artifact infact is too slow
>>98750977>Oh no! Someone ruined my precons mana/card draw engine in one card board setup and me spending 10 minutes a turn to get there over the past 5 turnsYou deserve it. Play better decks. Stop netdecking. Skill issue. If you don't I will...>untap>upkeep>board wipe
Seeing all the marvelsloppa sit unsold at costco and secret lair gives me hope for this format and its community
>>98750991I've never complained about any of those except board wipes and my msin complaint is how they are used to "reset the board" rather than using them corectly.
