They have swarms for people to mow down with flamers, and they have godzillas so you can shoot your fancy guns at them while they stomp towards you. Everyone loves killing them. Nids are a perfectly designed antagonist faction and they are part of the soul of the game.In addition to that, I think they're in a sweet spot regarding game balance as well. They have a few key good units, shadow in the warp is always fun and dramatic, they can field a good amount of high toughness/wounds or a lot of bodies, but at the end of the day they have perfect 50% win rate. They're pretty much exactly what you want, some strengths and weaknesses, some strong things but not overall oppressive.Nids are, dare I say, a perfectly designed wargame faction.

Anyways I was asking about false flag stories in the last thread because I think something like that has a lot of potential in the fanatical purity culture of 40k. For example I have been toying with the idea of bringing this about with that radical inquisitor I mentioned(I'm the anon who posted my Nimbus Guard blurb last thread) getting a bit too lost in the warp sauce and falling to tzeentch, then framing the marines as being his allies in this but mind controlling them or causing their psykers to be possessed by tzeentch or something. This could cause some fun betrayal drama, set them up for a crazy tough penitent crusade if things end in a certain way, and I think utilizes some of the more interesting aspects of the setting

I feel like the question of which terminators to take has gotten really complicated now. Chainfists are obviously way better into monsters/vehicles than thunder hammers, which is frustrating because thunder hammers only get a special rule if you use them against those targets, but if you take 3 chainfists(which I determined is the amount needed to make that squad better into vehicles) now the thunder hammers are better into various other medium infantry like other 3 wound terminators and even tacticus marines. So the specializations are almost inverted? But then the regular terminators have their shooting which can handle chaff on its own to some degree, meanwhile if you take lightning claws with terminators now you are losing a lot of that vehicle and heavy infantry damage, whereas normal terminators just have it by default without sacrificing any in melee damage. Kind of annoying how jank it is
