>>98768892>How much taller is vizzik skour compared to a verminlordNot much, but he's also a little wider due to the robes and tail. They're relatively the same size though if you wanted to be lazy and slap a verminlord on a 130mm base.
i dont have the passage on hand, but Toll having old man pains in the third act of the 2024 book was a bit funny to me.
>>98768918>TQPic related, easily.
>>98768942I was just thinking of my next painting project, and was debating on a couple of models, and I don't own him yet
>>98768918>TQNot really a lore blurb or anything like that, but I like how Teclis is still treated as an incel and prefer celennar as a mentor figure by the lumineth at large.
>kurnothi mentioned in stream >no Warcry though
did AoS get any interesting info in the Q&A?

>>98769320>I hope you share some with us anonThis is all I can spare
>>98769278I'd rather see existing ranges flesh out than another half-formed faction shit out. There are still a bunch of factions that are basically still just half a range.
>>98769378Personally I’m just hoping for khazalite scenarios where armies are getting souped with other stuff. As much as I love helsmiths I could have done without it, chaos is bloated as a grand alliance.
>>98769232What'd they say?
>>98769405Nothing burger
>>98769378besides Helmsiths and IDK, AoS ranges are pretty much all complete. When you look at the 40k ranges, they are in much more need of updates (Imp Agents, DE, WE / TS / EC, Custodes, most marine chapters that aren't DA / BA / SW / BT).
>>98769450please don't encourage GW to support another 10 marine armies
>>98769450Exquisite bait. 8/10
>>98769464k-khezu-sama....
>>98769397I think I'd like the Helsmiths if they were less chaos, strictly speaking, and more disgruntled middlemen. Basically arms dealers and mercenaries who will sell to anyone and exploit the conflicts of others to grab land and resources or settle grudges. That's why I like the whole "Hashut was an ancestor god" thing. For me, I think the order alliance is bloated. There are three dwarf factions (one new one, and two that are still half a fucking range), three elf factions (two of which are half a range), and the obligatory stormcast bloat. I think death and destruction are grossly underserved though.
>>98769461why not? I would love to see actual models for Salamanders, White Scars, Iron Hands, Ravenguard, etc. that aren't just Light Green Marine / White Marine.
>>98769493isn't that what the fyregayers are? Like they def aren't good guys and don't like the gods too much. Just want oathgold simple as
>>98769561They mention that super mercenary attitude from time to time but 99% of the time they're just good lads in practice
>>98769232The blueballing of warcry continuesNew soon by the way
>>98769561Not really. I'm talking truly amoral, spiteful, and opportunistic assholes. The FS are basically just gathering their gold to stitch their pro-suicide god back together. Sure, they're stated as doing some questionable shit to get by, but practically speaking, they're fighting against chaos and other "baddies" more often than not.Helsmiths should still be fairly unambiguously evil, just a more rational and calculating evil that can be reasoned and bargained with, to some degree. Basically break things to your will, not break everything. It would contrast them well against most of the other evil factions who are typically either fucking clown shows or destroy-everything-retards.Again, this is why I like Hashut as an ancestor god - even retconning it as far back as whfb. Having an exiled ancestor god creates conflict and depth within the dwarf pantheon. It also creates another "evil" god that isn't chaos - like Khaine.
>>98768942Is this by the same guy who sculpted Ushoran? Has a certain flair about it.
>>98769278>>lore tid bits explaining why holds are coming out from “checks notes” shyish where…gazul was keeping them safe…replacing dwarf heads with skeleton headsUNDEAD DWARFS
I really wish they'd go back to warcry (or something similar but not underworld *spits*) and use it as a testing ground for new armies or subfactions (or just to throw a bone to armies without many units) like how killteam works.
>>98769528>tfw had this cool plan to buy the white scar combat patrol, sell the models I don't want (everything but suboden) and basically break even>combat patrols were totally sold out by aprilI kept putting it off until it was too late.
>>98769561>>98769493that's literally what idoneth and khaine areidoneth are your "obviously evil but not chaos so we're cool with them" factions>order is bloatedI disagree, the current mashup of factions works nicely in the context of sigmar's developing fluff. In FANTASY you have good, evil and neutral. In 40k you have imperium, xenos and chaos. Sigmar is not a moral valuation but an alliance based on who broadly opposes what, so you get objectively evil races allied with good ones because chaos and undeath are worse.
>>98769493>and two that are still half a fucking range),also the fyreslayers are being merged into kazalites so you have trad dwarfs who worship the gods and cling to the old ways and the nu dwarfs who live in the skies and hold to their Codes
>>98769278Man they were really desperate to avoid any and all connections to the dispossessed.Guess they're still just the plumbers of human cities then.

>>98770302That’s literally the same thing
I think it’s cool that AoS doesn’t really do that whole tickle your balls for three or more years about a concept before they maybe do something with it like they do with other games. And inevitably people end up hating it here anyway
I like blood and skulls and being angry
>>98769001>by the lumineth at largeIt's just the Zaitrec folks.
>Dispossessed and City Duardin entirely retconned lmao apparently the new Dorfs are survivors protected by Gazul in Shyish and they left his guardianship recently to reclaim their holds. Duardin never went to Azyr nor ever took part in cities.
>>98770612Until I see the book I doubt that’s true.
>>98770336Don't they do stuff like that all the time?
>>98770612The free CoS supp explains that the Dispossessed left the cities to get in on the Khazalite empire.

>>98771249So was most of europe, doesn't mean woolly rhino's are very evocative of say a hre based army like the empire.
Tried the new tone paints at my local GW store, the glob it on without thinning method really does work. Though the manager was playfully annoyed when I brought this fact up to him as apparently that was never the intended selling point lmao. A question about the Stormcast I painted, do the kits normally have these little belt accessories even when they’re multipart? I had imagined them as dudes that wouldn't be worried about random pouches and knives due to them traveling by way of lightning, meaning logistics would be easier on their carry load.
>>98771213Fuck you for making me watch that piece of shit but they still explicitely say some went to azyr. Didn't get retconned, and I believe some CoS material from the tome basically said the Dispossessed fucked off to join their cousins in the holds or some shit.Which is lame by the way, have the Dispossessed be the ones restarting duardin civilization, and have any possible survivors join them instead of the other way around. This whole "x army was hiding the whole time" thing is so fucking played out now they've done it 15 times already, and you had a perfectly reasonable alternate explanation right there! Been cooking for a decade plus too!
>>98771303Kinda do yeah, more so on newer kits and especially scout-based units.
>>98771323Are they like Space Marines where they’re perfectly optional in multipart kits or are they a part of the hip area sculpt?
>>98771361Just took a look at liberators and I'm honestly not seeing much random pouches and grenades or whatever like marines have. Couple of them have daggers though, is that what you meant?I don't think either liberators or vindictors (last edition's basic troop) ever even got proper multipart releases. I'm pretty sure the current boxes are just the same sprues as the starter set ones. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
>>98771464>Couple of them have daggers though, is that what you meantYeah the double hammer guy they gave me for the demo has a big dagger hanging from his left side, I suppose I’m jumping the gun assuming that others have lots of pouches. I’m interested in a Stormcast Spearhead in the future, though it doesn’t seem they have a solo one on the US store right now.
Looking for the current or previous Daughters of Khaine book. It seems to be missing from the op link. Would a kind anon share?
>>98771550Yeah aside from the scouts that anon mention earlier (which do have pouches etc) it's mostly limited to daggers (and random ritual stuff for reclusians). As for spearheads yeah they used to have a standalone yndrasta spearhead but it seems they removed that recently. Can get most of the dominion stuff for very cheap online though; after that it's just a matter of the sword guys and the chariot. Might be worth a shot checking out ebay.
>>98771249That stupid dumb cat on the bottom and the antelope and the marmot and the jerboa are so funny man
i think the new ogres are a bit too evil and hills have eyes for me.
If anyone cares, the new model program that’s replacing the model of the month is apparently a demo model program they won’t just hand out free like before. They made it seem like if you come in for a painting class or if you’re starting a new army, that’s when you can ask for one. Allegedly many store managers were complaining about how the way the program was communicated over the article is very different from what they were told.
made progress on my current boys and actually finished my arch warlock, wasnt 100% sure on the blue for the armor for skryre, but after seeing how the warlock turned out i like it, still kinda looks weird on the stormvermin, but my little army lore is all the elites use blue armor along with the regular skryre colors
>>98772011also to add on to this, i have seen the fucking way and ive been using non synthetic brushes for the first time in my life and holy shit ive never had better brush control, arrow tipped sable brushes are fucking amazing

How come the gofile doesn't have so many battletome pdfs? Does anyone even upkeep this? We had Daughters of Khaine BT, Ogors and Cities of Sigmar one, I'm pretty sure, where is that now?
Hi anons I want to start this hobby with the main aim being to play. I'd enjoy painting and the minis themselves though but like the idea of playing the game itself. Me and my bro are interested. Whats the best way to start? Was looking at the spearhead boxes and the city of ash baord to play the mini game before we build up our armies (spearhead?) The starter set is good value but I dont like the sigmar marines nor the ratmen
>>98772599spearhead is probably your best bet, i'm pretty sure you can get either the fire and jade or sand and bone spearhead set that's _just_ the board, cards, and terrain, but unsure. then you can just pick up the spearhead armies you want to play that aren't skaven or stormcastalternatively if you just want to play the game or try it out, tabletop simulator has some great workshop mods for both spearhead and the full game of AoS, so i suggest giving that a try if you really want to make sure you like the game before spending hundreds of dollars on plastic
I went to my LGS to play AoS Spearhead again with my Ogors. I was fighting his Lizardmen and score was 16 - 17. I unfortunately lost, my Ironguts were quickly taken out. This is Round 1:>Also haven't painted them unfortunately as all my painting equipment is in a box since I'm moving next week

>>98772668Round 3
>>98772674Round 4. I will say, Lizardmen were way harder to deal with than his Skeletons last Friday.
>>98771267I mean most of the remains are from Siberia bordering modern Mongolia and historically part of Mongolia It's why Ogres got them in the first place I think
>>98772675Yeah, this is a pretty strong and straightforward spearhead, those Kroxigors are terryfing. I don't know about general since I only played twice against them and always took him out in the first round, but he also looks like a beast

>>98772980Most probably, in a polytheistic setting it is hard to imagine anyone not giving at least some acknowledgement to any and all gods connected to your daily living.Let alone ones with tangible effects and near-omnipresent heralds. What's the reason not to?
>>98772931I don't even know how releases work in TOW. Let's say I want to play Cathay, I go to the GW site and look at Army Books and... do I need 3 books to play one army? Seems like all they're getting is "another Cathay book," "another Warriors of Chaos book" and maybe "another Tomb Kings book."
>>98772973
>>98773010Idk ask /wfg/
>>98773010Yeah, the original arcane journal had rules for the models they were selling and the new one only covers the models designed to accompany that so you'd need two books for the whole army as a core and then more for optional list stuff
>>98772980>>98772989He’s also genuinely and ironically a good god with a deeply humanistic gospel. So they're consolidating to reduce expenses they had set upon themselves for no benefit. Interpret this as you wish.
>>98772896They’re gonna remove half those rules just like Horus heresy did when it went into 3.0 I don’t think the playerbase will even notice.
>>98772896I think it's more the tow team being well aware that lots of people are going to use aos minis instead of ancient 30 year old ones and give less of a fuck. Always seemed clear to me that this "divide" was exec mandated and the rules teams didn't really care. This idea of a civil war between the main and specialist divisions was always dumb as fuck.

>>98773187tldr: I can't give you an example of a divide but I'm getting vibes
>>98772896the old world wasn't allowed to share anything with age of sigmar so there's no rules for aos models and Beastmen were squatted so that the old world could use them they are basically competing businesses theres no crossplay outside of "legacy" which is mostly WHFB models discontinued for aos too
>>98773242Anon the very fact that they have rules for shit they don't actually sell means some weird stuff was going on. This makes them shit characters, this makes their stories shit ones; and the cope that these characters are actually meant to be hypocritical and retarded only goes so far.Either make them unapologetically evil like the faction they belong to is unapologetically evil, or give them good motivations which actually require controversial statements about sigmar instead of milquetoast ones.

If Sigmar indeed does die as Boole said when the official Last World lore drops, then I DARE the drawfags to already have ready pictures of Sigmar dead on a cross like Jesus with "SIGMAR DIED FOR OUR SINS" in bottom caption.

>>98773512I'm not even opposed to subversions of traditional roles and tropes, I'm just asking for them to be well written.Case in point, one of the best examples of sigmar doing something remotely controversial was the genocide of the beastmen that used to live in peace in hysh alongside humans. I don't need beastmen to be evil by nature for the faction to be evil at large, so there being a niche example of them living in a different way, and a moral discourse over whether they should be equally opposed like the ones who embody their chaotic roots or not is good, and it creates a valid backstory for a vengeful character opposed to sigmar and sigmarites and willing to betray his technically moral nature by siding with darker gods. and chaos not having invaded the realms yet and hysh being a place of mental illumination are both good explanations for this fluke too instead of a blanket statement like>all beastmen are good natured if they aren't attacked first actually
>>98773577ebay :)

>>98773709>The books don't,[citation needed]>it's why gw is making so few of them.So GW still makes money out of them? Also, books are secondary aspect of the AoS, novels are literally just tie-ins to the models.
>>98773598>>98773621Scalpers should be sold to the Skaven

>>98772919>reliable leakers>rob the dishonest gamerAnon...
Anons tomorrow i have my "friendly" firstfag aos game as skaven, im fighting sigmarines... How fucked am i if the dice say "fuck you"? Because i see they hit like a truck and also they have good armor save.
>>98773762he was a part of the team that made the game
Im building up a khorne mortal focused army, I saw some Korean guy on youtube who does a lot of strategy videos say that khorne manifestations arent all that great and can be ignored? Any unga bunga chads here able to comment?
>>98773908what kind of skaven units are you running? stormcast have a good save and do some serious damage, but your strength is in numbers as well as some stupid movement bullshit>put gnawholes in areas that become a problem if your opponent ignores it, and if they do pay attention to them they have to sacrifice a unit or two to babysit them>if possible, trying to clog up as much of their enemy units as possible with your own is advisable, especially with clanrats; they get bodies back at the end of every turn and if you really need to, all your infantry units can retreat without taking mortal damage>if you have any ranged units then you have shooting superiority, so don't forget to castle when you can and keep in mind that stormcast have deepstrike rules, so space out your units in such a way that they'll get punished for trying to get into your backline>abuse the hell out of always three clawsteps ahead, to either make it harder for the opponent to charge into your front line, or to fill in gaps so if they have flying units and they charge your backline, they'll also be in combat range of a lot of your chaffalso just remember you WILL lose a fuckton of your rats. but for every billion rats they kill, if you manage to kill a stormcast model it's usually a fair tradeoff
>>98773956the priests in general have been subpar this edition. the manifestations were never a must have.
How often do you come across a nmm army?
>>98773383What the fuck is it even supposed to be? Vostargi mont? Or just general launch nonsense
>>98773446>Also, they have always had squig hoppers in WFB, what is this supposed to be provingNot with lances and light armour, which just so happens to he the alt build of the only squig hopper kit GW currently sells...
>>98773968Thanks anon for the tips, i'm that newfag kind of player that buys the minis because they look cool. As seeing gameplay with the skaventide boxes in youtube, i can see that my acolyte globadiers are already a bad choice since their ranged passive might not be good against stormcast heroes and units that are barely 5, although as you said again, having a backline to babysit ratlin gunners might be a good choice. Another unit that people already told me about that i shouldn't have bought them (for me they look neat), are the stormvermin, saw them first time but never read about their stats... I can see why! For being an elite rat, they shure are shredded easily, heck, even clanrats have that passive AND auto-wound.>what kind of skaven units are you running?(Quick-list, most of them as i said i saw them cool minis)Clawlord on gnawbeast, 1 unit of clanrats, 1 unit of stormvermin, Skryre bombadier, 1 unit of Acolyte globadiers, 1 unit of ratlin gunners, 1 unit of Doomflayers, Master Moulder, 1 unit of rat ogorsTotal: 1000 pts.
>>98772011Very kino.
>>98772675Yeah the saurus warriors and kroxigor are scary
>>98772896I already have trouble finding AoS players even at Warhammer stores. I imagine it’s a pain to find a TOW player. Probably why they’re trying to make it easier to get into
>>98772011You did the warpstone fucking neat, i always get it wrong or overbrush it!
>>98773469Kek
>>98773512jej it’s so true
>>98774050>ArmyAlmost no one does that for an entire army. Maybe for a centerpiece or a character here and there. It's a ton of labor to do on basic chaff.
>>98772165you dont think so? these things are all very cannibal cult horror movie coded to me. ogres always sort of had that with the gorgers, but it feels like the gorger attitude spread across the whole range now. i guess its more accurate to their original lore and art depictions, but its less charming, at least in my opinion. also the loss of buddy gnoblars really sucked the fun out of the range
>>98774432Did saw that bulls lose gnoblar friends, but didn't expect fully loss of them, damnDo remember that clan now glorify the gorger's, might be the reason why they would look like that?
>>98774432>buddy gnoblars Reddit coded desu.
>>98774443gnoblars literally pre-date the creation of reddit
>>98774432Ogres always had accessories and bits that showed their taste for human flesh, but I think it was counterbalanced by the “civilized” aspect of Ogres like Man Eaters (ironic huh) and Lead Belchers. The refresh gave the Butchers an Infantry box and a huge centerpiece, I think it’s only natural that aspect has overpowered the rest. But things like limbs and bones hanging out of their bags have always been in the range.
gnoblars don't suit a mature game, no more fisher toys shit and I'm glad
>>98774143yes
>>98774475Right, only serious stuff. Like gobbapalooza.
>>98774198rule of cool trumps all, so as long as your opponent isn't being a tryhard tournamentlist fag you should be fine lmaoacolyte globadiers are actually pretty nice in my book, since they're not very expensive and can do a ton of damage, even without the "10 or more model" passive bonus. i usually run them in reserves, pop them out of a gnawhole to shoot at an enemy unit (gnawhole spawn range is 9", and acolyte shooting is 10", so very funny)stormvermin do unfortunately kinda suck yeah, as does the clawlord on gnawbeast and bombardier, they might be our worst units currently even though i love the hell out of the models, but they have their fun uses from time to time. doomflayers are your best hammer unit by far, so if you can try to get the charge in with them and attack with them first, that +1 charge damage and -2 rend against infantry is *brutal* as hellyou should be fine though, since it's a 1k point game you'll definitely have the numbers advantage, just keep in mind your heroes aren't nearly as tanky or as good as you think they might be, so don't overextend if you can help it. sometimes the dice will fuck up and you'll roll like six 1's in a row, but losing gloriously is a part of the skaven gameplan, u got this

>>98774475wish kruleboys or gits inherited them tho
>>98774515Why would kruels get them when they already have hobgrots.
Got an airbrush and used it to prime minis for the first time today. I've been putting it off until I have a well ventilated dedicated area.

>>98774727shaved is worse
>>98774875But which one is it? Because I can't tell.
>>98774936it's an ugly woman, which is almost as bad as a shaved dwarf but not quite there yet.
>>98774570just do it outside, you never have enough ventilation and should wear a mask even outside it'll mostly be caught by the mucus in your throat but in the random chance some does make it through, you basically 100x your chance of lung cancer and each addition is another 100x that
