Because your building is put at 63 degrees? That's why I have to wear two layers of shirts and drink hot coffee all day in this damn heat. Alternatively, you are as addicted to coffee and alcohol as I am.

Yeah no, Palworld absolutely fucking MOGGED PokΓ©mon.

not a chance. I'm in a sweltering hot garage with the back door open, the door cracked, and the door to the house open for a crossbreeze. all i've got are a couple of fans.

I hate the heat. Makes me feel like a whiny baby.
>>
>>98776208
Its not that it'll kill you, its just annoying, its pretty much constant during the day. You can't do anything and its hard to keep dry.

Ironically, they put in a fancy new HVAC thing that's supposed to ramp up and down based on algorithms and shit, but the brass wearing a bunch of wool business suits all the time means it's fucking freezing for the plebs so the admin feel comfortable in gear that belongs in 1890 NYC when we're in goddamn Texas.

IS xl engines are fine as long the mech was either well armored before or spends some of the weight on armor.
>>
>>98776278
they are good on lights or speedy mediums. IS lights are so fragile it hardly matters anyway.
>>
>>98776297
No, even on heavies and assaults. If you are durable enough to survive for 8 turns normally an xl engine is all upside.
>>
>>98776332
If you use the weight well, maybe. If you stock up small pulse lasers, I can't help ya bud.
>>
HONOR THE DRAGON!
>>
>>98776332
I'd much rather go with just a Light Engine, since you aren't squeezing out that much extra MP from the decreased weight.
>>
>>98776603
yeah, definitely preferable. But an XL or a Light on an assault just feels like a waste.

It's the only way to get heavier assaults to move 4/6 and not be borderline useless on the field. Compare a banshee 3e and 5s. Most atlases post 3050 run none standard engines as well, given the firepower expectations of later eras.

Resident feddies, I'm putting together some BA and maybe vehicles to support an otherwise all mech New Ivaarsen Chasseurs. Would it make more sense for them to be Robinson Rangers/March Brigade, or Draconis March Militia? Both of those are actually listed as using the Eartwerks GRF chassis in the TROs, while Crockett and Black Watch have different chassis despite the text saying they're built on the same chassis.
Some mech chassis just see to be very versatile. Pretty sure Griffin and Bushwacker aren't even the only ones that use the Earthwerks GRF, and Crucis A and Crucis Endo-steel chassis definitely show up on a bunch of seemingly unrelated mechs.

Is this okay for 15k Classic ? Any advices ? Kinda new to list building at this BV (and in general lmao) :/

King Crab KGC-000, Highlander HGN-733P, Black Knight BL-6-KNT, Quickdraw QKD-5K, Schrek PPC (XL) Γ—2, Manticore Heavy Tank, Demolisher Mk. II, Starslayer STY-3D, Ostsol OTL-4D, Scorpion SCP-1N

I'm not really sure about the two Schrek PPC, I really like them but I don't know if two is too much

The idea is to use the fats fuck & friends / bodyguard (king crab, highlander, black knight and quickdraw) as hammers to break the line and front fight (and sniping shit in the enemy backline with the highlander) while the tanks are basically camping in a bush and the others mechs acts skirmisher / interceptors moving where they need to be

>Archer
Standard of comparison that all others exist in relation to
>Longbow
Adds an extra 10t but only squeezes in 10 more LRM tubes. You can do better than that.
>Bombardier
Skips out on 10t with only minor compromises to capability, but the SRM4 and machine gun are questionable decisions
>Yeoman
A complete lack of backup guns on something that only goes 4/6 is a problem that needs addressing. Funny, but not good.
>Catapult
The best secondary armament of the lot and jump capability to boot, but the worst at the actual LRM delivery mission because it only fields 30 tubes. I'd still take it in most circumstances, because in actual games of battletech the enemy will get inside 6 hexes of you at some point and this one does the best in that radius. Plus, jumping lets it get into good fire support spots early.

I was given a list and followed it, but
>Trebuchet
Exists as a medium in relation to all those heavies, so naturally it's faster and more fragile. Decent backup armament. Unlike the other options, the Trebuchet wants to hug exactly the 7 hex distance with its mobility and pelt the victim with LRMs with no range mod - unless of course the victim has more LRMs, in which case it moves to 3 hexes to leverage its 3 MLs.
>>
>>98781285
I had this trebuchet in MWO i named pancakes, i got it for free at an event. It had this awful garish neon camo and I would try to cram too many tubes in it but it would always overheat. I think I sold it at some point.
>>
>>98781263
I always preferred the bombardier, even though the catapult was technically better. In MW2: Mercs The catapult had these huge hit boxes and would get cockpit crits all the time, plus the catapult would glitch out sometimes and the bombadeir didn't.
>>
>>98781344
You haven't achieved full LRM retardation until you've stuffed 30 tubes onto an urbie.

Storytime incoming. It's a long one for 4chan at over 14,000 characters, meaning 8 posts needed for it. Didn't mean for it to be this long, but just started writing and well, here we are.
------
Lunchtime.

No matter what was going on, on any given day, there was lunchtime. The time of the day replenish yourself, defeat hunger, rest from the morning's training to be ready for the afternoon's, and of course, catch up with your fellow lance mates, your friends. Despite the academy being designed to bring the 3 disparate factions together, when it came time for lunch, 4 tables were always clearly identified, with the 4 same people at each of them. Nobody had assigned them seats, nobody ever spoke words to suggest this arrangement, but it happened all the same; all across faction lines.

The Leopard that had delivered the new mechs still hadn't departed yet. The wreckage that was William McCormick's Phoenix Hawk was still being loaded on and securing it was proving to be a problem. Regardless, there was no rush to the Leopard's crew to fix this problem. This didn't stop Janusz Kotow from spending all his time in the Leopard, including taking his meals there, leaving the 3 Free Worlds Leaguers to eat without him in the galley. The 4 Draconis Combine students always occupied one table, the mercenaries another, and the Capellan Confederation their own as well. There were other people there of course, but everyone seemed to know who the academy's focus was on. Most lunch times were the same, but not on this particular day.

Morgan Munroe had finished his meal. He stared at the empty seat across from him. The seat where Janus Kotow would eat. Quietly. Silently even. Now he was leaving.

"You know, we never even got to know the guy." Morgan voiced his thoughts to Obal Moriancumer and Igzael Antwerp-Jones; the Mechwarriors at the table with him. Igzael look over at the empty seat and shrugged.

"It was his call. Some people are just like that."

Obal and Igzael both looked at Morgan and acknowledged what he said with a grunt, but then went back to eating. "I'm going to change that." Morgan stood up and walked over to the mercenary table with his tray of food and sat down at the empty seat. Rebbeca, Tetsuo, and Shiloh all stopped what they were doing, confused by this change in the routine. "Hey guys! Figured I'd eat with you today." There was a moment of silence before Rebbeca replied with a simple question.

"Why?"

"Because all of us are turning into pocket Kotows. Seems like it's not too late to get to know each other better before we all become too cliquish."

"I... guess." It was at this moment that Bob Denard walked up with his tray.

"What gives?" Bob asked the group.

"Just mixing things up." Morgan said with a smile to Bob. "Getting to know some people a bit better."

"But I always eat here." Rebecca chuckled.

"Well we are mercenaries Bob. We need to be able to adapt to an ever changing battlefield."

"No harm meant Bob." Morgan said to him. "But maybe you can meet someone new today too."

"Yeah, sure." Bob said a bit defensively, a frown beginning to form, but then it quickly faded. "Actually, I have wanted to talk to Vladimir for a while now. One Wasp pilot to another." Bob walked over to the table which Eleanor Gale and William McCormick were already at and took a seat. Morgan could see him begin to chat with them.

"Some people might resent this." Rebecca said.

"Resent what?" Morgan asked.

"People don't like being forced to be friends."

"It's a single lunch, don't overthink it."

"We were on opposite sides in the last battle."

"Doesn't mean we will be next time. You said it yourself, mercenaries need to adapt to the changing battlefield." Rebecca rolled her eyes and shook her head, but didn't dispute him any further. Elsewhere in the cafeteria, Wang Lee approached the Capellan table, but after a few words, went over to the Combine table. A few words there, and Ayumu stood up and went to the Leaguers table, allowing Wang Lee to sit at the Combine table. Morgan smiled as he saw this and turned back to his own table. He raised his cup to his table. "Well cheers, maybe we can all get to know each other a little better after all."

"Ugh, you're going to be insufferable if this works, aren't you?"

"Me? No, never. A little smug, maybe, but only a little bit and only for a little bit." Over at the Capellan table, the conversation was progressing along well enough.

"You know you're living every bugmech pilot's dream right now Eleanor." Bob said to her, causing her to giggle. "From Wasp to Highlander. It's amazing, really. Oh yeah, can I be on your side in the next battle? I don't want to get stomped on by you."

"Heh! You know I don't get to decide the team lineups. Besides, they'll probably be the same as last time."

"You think?"

"I don't." William said. "I think people are just assuming these battles will be across faction lines, but remember that it's Comstar running this place. They probably won't care about such things."

"It is why I'm over here right now."

"I thought it was because Morgan took your seat." Eleanor said.

"Well that's definitely part of it, but I wanted to chat with Vladimir for a bit. We all heard about happened. It's messed up how his Valkyrie was taken from him. Uh, no offense to you Will."

"None taken." William replied back. "Besides, he's not the only one that had a mech taken from him."

"Yeah, but you weren't relegated to a bugmech. I'm hoping to cheer him up. Let him know that piloting a Wasp isn't the end of the world."
[3/8]
>>
>>98781423
"Easy for you to say."

"Hey, you're still getting to pilot something bigger than a Wasp."

"He's right." Eleanor said. "Piloting any mech is a huge honor and that is easy for me to say. Even if I had not been give the care of this Highlander, I would have gladly continued to pilot my Wasp for the rest of my life.

"Well you certainly showed how a Wasp is meant to be piloted." Bod said to her. "How do you do it Eleanor? I've watched the replay so many times. The way you moved your mech and landed those shots was like nothing I could have ever dreamed of. I practice, but I'm not sure I'll ever reach your levels of natural born talent."

"It's not talent." Eleanor said sternly, taking aback the other 2. "Growing up, there was a nearby center with simulator pods. I visited them everyday. I practiced as much as I could. I'd exercise and read the TROs released by Comstar about mechs. Nobody in my family had ever been a Mechwarrior, but it was all I could dream about."

"Dedicated, but that's not too unusual." William said.

"Maybe not unusual for you, but you're a man. While other girls were out shopping for prom dresses, I was shopping for mechs. You're not really the popular girl at school when you're into mechs."

"Maybe not with the girls, but I promise you, guys will not care about that. They might even like it."

"Yes, well, I befriended a retired old mechwarrior even and he would show me his old mech and let me practice in it; an old WSP-1."

"1A" William corrected her.

"Huh?"

"You mean a WSP-1A." Eleanor shook her head in disagreement. "No way. You mean an actual WSP-1? A primitive mech? That's insane! Holy crap. I've only ever gotten to read about those old hunks of junk. What was it like?"

"Well first off, it's rude to call it a hunk of junk. Those primitive mechs were groundbreaking technology when they were made!"

"Oh yeah, of course."

"Definitely." Bob chimed in.
[4/8]
>>
>>98781432
"But... they are kind of bad by today's standards. It was slower, had less armor, no SRM2, and less Jump Jets. Those primitive mechs can be a bit unwieldy you know."

"No, we don't know."

"But we'll take your word for it." William said.

"Now I'm here and I'll do anything it takes to be a true Mechwarrior. Well... almost anything anyway." Bob and William both had some suspicions about what she was alluding to, but they kept them to themselves.

"So you'll help me then Eleanor?" Bob asked. "With cheering up Vladimir about being a Wasp pilot."

"Of course!" She said with a smile.

"Well here's your chance. Here he comes now." William said.

"What took so long?" Bob asked.

"Our liaison has him on some insane training hours. He has to leave the classroom later just to be able to meet them all. It's not helping either. All the tests show that he's not getting any better."

"He might even be getting worse." Eleanor added.

"Well, we won't about that for this lunch then." Bob said. From across the galley, Vladimir had finally gotten his food and was walking over to the table. "Has he lost weight?"

"He's been missing meals."

"No choice." William said, the ire creeping into his voice. Vladimir arrived at the table. Up close, Bob was able to see that Vladimir had some dark bags under his eyes. It looked like he hadn't been getting much sleep either. Vladimir put his tray on the table, but stood behind his chair, looking between the table's other occupants. He was clearly surprised to see the change up in seating going on, but it was like his brain was having trouble processing it.

"What's going on?" Vladimir asked. Bob smiled and answered.

"Just here to pay my respects to the hardest working cadet in the entire academy. No one comes as close to working as hard as you do Vladimir, not even Eleanor here."

"It's true Vladimir." Eleanor commented. "We're all really proud of you and impressed with your dedication. You really..."

"Cadet Ignatyev!" The familiar voice of Sheng Jian Wei Chen bellowed from across the galley and as it did, many people's chatter in the galley died down. Sheng Chen stormed across the galley and came to a stop at the Capellan table, standing directly behind Eleanor Gale. "Just what are you doing here!?"

"I, ummm, I'm, having lunch?" Vladimir answered, clearly unsure of what he done wrong to warrant this vocal and public dressing down.

"Lunch!? After the scores you got on the latest exam? No. Absolutely not! You need to be spending your lunch time getting more training. Go to the simulators immediately."

"But they're not run over lunch." Vladimir said, his head looking over at the table where the techs who ran and maintained the simulators were currently seated and having their own lunch.

"You dare backtalk me? That's insubordination! Consider your weekend liberty canceled! You will be spending the entire weekend putting in extra training." Vladimir's weekend liberty was already a paltry joke compared to all the other cadets, but this would take the last of it away.

"Shen Chen..." Eleanor began. "...perhaps you could..." But her words were cut off before she could say anything else.

"No my dear! Don't try to defend him. In fact, I don't want him contaminating the rest of you." Chen stood directly behind Eleanor and placed his hands on her shoulders as he said this. "I will not let you ruin my star pupil." He then began to even rub her shoulders. "Cadet Ignatyev, from now on, you will be eating your meals alone. You are forbidden from eating in the common area. Your lunches are to be taken in the training classroom so that you can study the tech manuals while you eat."

"Holy shit." Bob Denard spoke up. "Why don't you take the stick out of your ass?"

"What did you just say to me Cadet Lee!?" Shen Chen screamed at him.

"Sir?" Wang Lee spoke up from the Combine table.

"What!?"

"I'm over here." Lee said while putting his hand cautiously into the air. Shen Chen turned his attention back to his own table, confused at just who this other person was. Bob started to laugh.

"Man, you don't even know what your own cadets look like. That's really sad." Bod said to him with a smirk.

"Why I..." Shen Chen started back at him as he took a few steps around the table at him.

"You want to go?" Bob said, quickly standing up.

"Denard!" A new voice boomed out through the galley. It was Rook, the MRB liaison. "Come her Denard." Bob didn't move for a moment. "Now Denard!" Bob kept his eyes locked with Shen Chen, but walked over to Rook. With Bob removed from the table, Chen returned to his spot behind Eleanor and put his hands back on her shoulders. He then resumed his berating of Vladimir. It was the center of attention in the galley. How could it not be? It had not gone unnoticed at the mercenary table either.

"He's scum." Rebecca said.

"He doesn't know the first thing about training." Tetsuo commented.

"Just look how uncomfortable Eleanor is." Shiloh whispered.

"Someone needs to bring him down a peg." Rebecca muttered.

"Yeah." Morgan agreed. "So who wants chili?" He asked his table as he took his watch off and set it on the table. "Oh, you know what? My old table probably does. I'll get some for them."

"Why did you..." Rebecca began to ask, but Morgan quickly interrupted her.

"Don't let me forget my watch." He said with a wink before getting up. Rebecca grabbed his watch and held it in his hand. She looked at it for a moment before focusing on Morgan again. Shiloh and Tetsuo made confused comments about what he was doing, but Rebecca just watched Morgan as he got several bowls of chili and put them on the tray. He then started to walk back to the Leaguer's table, but as he did, he made sure to lock eyes with Rebecca for a moment. Then she saw it. Morgan had stepped directly behind Shen Chen.
[7/8]
>>
>>98781449
"Morgan!" Rebecca yelled. "You forgot your watch!" She said while standing up and holding the watch in the air. Most people turned towards Rebecca as she yelled this, including Morgan. As Morgan turned to face towards Rebecca, the tray he held right out in front of him turned as well, and it turned directly into Shen Chen. 4 bowls of chili went across his chest.

"Oh!" Morgan said, looking shocked. "Oh, Shen Chen. I am so sorry about that. I didn't know you were there and just turned and... my deepest apologies." Morgan inclined his head toward Shen Chen. Shen Chen stood there, fuming, but instead of yelling again he stormed out of the galley. Chuckling could be heard from just about every table in the galley once he was gone. Morgan walked back over to the Mercenary table, a smile on his face. "How forgetful of me. Thank you for reminding me about my watch."

"Of course." Rebecca said back with a smirk. "I understood the assignment. I'm a mercenary after all."

"I had a feeling you would." Morgan said while putting his hand out for the watch.

"You know though, there is the little matter of your payment for me accepting this job." Rebecca said as she slipped the watch over her own wrist. She examined the watch on her wrist for a moment before turning her gaze back to Morgan, a smile on her face. Morgan chuckled.

"Well bargained mercenary."

doesn't mr. sexual harassment outrank them? that would be like a court martial if they threatened him. Isn't the point supposed to be that neither party can act overtly? He can't be seen being too rapey or the cadets will react or report him, and they can't be too confrontational or he can expel them or worse.

>>98781494
Different factions. It'd be like a Sergeant in the UK telling off a French Captain. That's also why Rook called over Bob. He's the one that gets to be in charge of the mercs.

Morgan's anon, you'd called him her in the batrep and switched pronouns for the story. But I think it's funnier to keep switching pronouns for the most generic pilot in the roster so keep it up. Fun story, looking forward to how the setup leads into the next match.

Not him but that's very Caballeros coded and seems to be what he's going for. This is 4chan. We don't give a fuck. I remember the OG Ryan fluff of him pulling out a lawn chair and an ice bucket of beer while some Jumpship passenger on a ship they took gets beaten and raped to death. I remember pirates in 1629 lining up for blocks around to rape a couple farmer's daughters to death. I also remember some scrub Dracs in the Reunification War literally eating people and pretending to be at a fancy dinner while the daughter of the cooked family hides in a closet and listens to the whole thing. Then there's stuff like the poison witch MoC Magistrix in 3025 just ditching and killing her consorts as she gets bored with them in the most gruesome ways possible.

Grow a spine.

I saw that as I did a reread here on 4chan. It's just me being fat fingered. It was not the only mistake I caught upon my re-read here. I don't know why I don't notice them when I'm typing in the word document. They're also the kind of mistakes that spell check won't catch.
Such as you might notice that "Bob" is referred to a s "Bod", twice. Just me not noticing on 1st pass. I do fix the changes in the word document though, so when the updated one is eventually uploaded, it'll have those fixes in it for anytime someone ever decides to do a re-read.
I considered just waiting until tomorrow to do this update so I'd have time for another proofread, but then I said fuck it.

This picture is one of my bookshelves. I consider it to be the greatest manga ever made and it has done much, much, darker things than anything I've written here. So relax. It's not like I'm going to write a chapter in which the rape horse shows up... well, not yet anyway.

I've been aiming at no more than 1 story time per topic. Anyway, it won't be much longer until game time. Just a few important elements to wrap up first.

Oh yeah, general question. Are there any cadets that feel like they haven't gotten proper spotlight yet? Speak up soon or forever hold your piece. Also, don't say Hobby. He's my character. That's also why I am intentionally minimizing his screen time.
