Who do >(you) think is the most likely candidate for each GA?
>>98796039You know, CoS make a lot more sense when you consider them to be penal legions.
>>98796039>>Thread QuestionI don't think they meant what you think they meant with that.Ogres to them is a new army too for example.anyway>order: umbraneth>death: frankenzombies>destruction: grotbag expansion to gitmobs>chaos: updated beastmen shared by TOW
>TQ:Order: Umbraneth (meme as they may be)Chaos: ...I guess some weird Undivided thing like Vashtorr?Destruction: I could see a Dogs of War-like army, only shoved into Destruction by having a Man-eater as its figurehead and willingness to work for anyone.Death: Some some of TK reskin, let's be honest.
>>98796039you just know destructions """new army""" is just going to be KB and IJ finally merged into a single army like the dwarfs just got after they give up on ever giving either range the things they actually need to flesh them out. oh your KB need cavalry to go with their 12 cavalry heroes? just use gore gruntas. etc
>>98796136>12 cavalry heroes

>>98796039>TQReally not sure what else there is for Chaos. They need to fill out the existing armies more than add a new one. >>98796116Ossiarchs are the not-tomb-kings already. I feel like pseudo vampire coast would be more likely. Hopefully without vampires. Liche Armada?>>98796259>really not sure what else there is for chaosEither that blacksteel autarchy thing or just returned beastmen. Blacksteel autarchy gets vashtor
>>98796320Show me the Egyptian aesthetic and constructs that aren't a Harvester.I mean some whole-cloth shit like the new Dorfs. I probably sound like a hater, but I wouldn't dislike the idea as unoriginal as it is.Vampirtes would be kind of neat, but sort of backasswards for Death as they'd have to be shooting focused like KO in a GA that very pointedly has almost no shooting aside from Monster breath and a single artillery piece. So they'd end up like KO. Either too good because shooting is, or ass because shooting is supposed to be eh.
>>98796117I'd go further and make the gems a variety of colors, there's a few examples on google images if you search up these chorfs.
>>98796259>>98796320you guys are also forgetting the wildcard: this is age of sigmar. they can just invent something completely new from whole cloth with no pre-established lore whatsoever. come out with a summer narrative campaign, drop some seeds and hints, and then boom, katakross and the bone reapers bust out of some crypt under lethis, or kragnos emerges from thin air, or any number of just random literal who's from sigmars asshole. that was kind of the whole point of age of sigmar in the first place. whfb had become so stiff and stilted that they struggled to add new products to the range without trampling on the sanctity of their established setting and factions. but age of sigmar with its massive and somewhat nebulous realms leaves infinite little unexplored corners of the realms for some brand new shit to just pop up. kruleboyz are another good example. we just have a whole new species of orc crop up from nothing loosely inspired by a few metal sculpts from 40 years ago.
>>98796350>constructs that aren't a harvesterAnon the entire range are constructs. That’s their whole deal. Their aesthetics are obviously not 1 for 1 tomb kings, but they're based on nagash, the dread abyssals (nehekaran underworld guardians) and the morghasts (twisted nehekaran angels). They're the continuation of tomb kings, albeit one with their own design cues, but nevertheless still a successor.
are the liege kavalos and zandtos the same kit? or are they separate kits? specifically in reference to the spearhead
>>98796409yes

>>98796378I'm talking more Ushtabi-sized stuff, but you got me there.

What are some of your favorite moments of Skaven from both AoS and Fantasy? I personally love it when they go against other ‘bad’ factions, all of that nastiness having to be dealt with by other nasties is super satisfying, them sabotaging Nagash several times was really funny.

How many scythe blades come in this kit? I'm looking through my old Start Collecting Skeletons box for bits and I swear to god I'm not seeing the same scythe blades on the sprue as I see in the picture on the store. The one on the left, I see the blade with the three flames on it but it doesn't have that skull hanging from it. It has a little pot of fire at a completely different angle. Did GW fucking alter these when they were painting them for the store display?
>>98796601I like how the first thing Pestilens did after the Vermindoom was build a mountain-sized cathedralic fortress of their own poop. Maggotkin have never been so committed to the bit.
>>98796693I think it's simply a case of the little chain bending. It should just be bit nr 20 right?By the way I always thought those skull chains were ugly as fuck, just scythes were fine. Come to think of it same with the fyreslayer version.

Quite literally just waiting for a 2-3 kits for helsmiths to decide whether or not I like them. Hell I’m not even asking for them all to be actual units, it could be as simple as a hero a dual build unit and an endless spell/ terrain.
>>98796972For some reason I don't think we'll have to wait that long before helsmiths get some attention again. Probably the lamassu + some elite infantry if I had to guess.
>>98796972This is pretty much what I'm waiting on. I want to see if they'll go more classic chorf and do stuff like the lamassu and hobgoblin Khanate stuff, or if they'll do more of their own thing.Personally, I'm hoping for more religious-themed stuff and more demon engine stuff - less dominator engine, more hell cannon or weapons teams.>I’m not even asking for them all to be actual unitsPlease, anon. You don't know what you're saying.
How do we fix them?
>>98797243i think i'd rather see more stompy demon engines. maybe even squads of smaller ones like what the khazalites just got. weapon teams and artillery are pretty boring to play on the table. getting another cannon when we already have a cannon would be a real snoozefest of a release
>>98797332they did fix them briefly and it shot them up to 70% winrate lol. im not sure you can fix them while leaving their ethereal rules intact.
>>98797352who cares about meta shit, I meant how do we fix them as an underdeveloped and boring range?
>>98797243While I do like the mecha bull, I am hoping the Lammasu still retains its more organical features.
>>98797342Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I just want artillery. Stompy shit would be right on brand, and I'd be down for it. I'd also be down for something like a big ass demon engine flamethrower that has some area-denial mechanics stuck to it.>>98797445I'm not against seeing a lammasu, mechanical or organic, but I'd rather see more proper units over a single entity monster/hero model.
>>98797332>haunted armor "monstrous infantry" type unit>refresh hexwraiths>make dreadblade harrows a proper 5 man kit instead of whatever the fuck they're now, possibly even a dual build for the abovementioned hexwraiths>some type of secondary centrepiece, like an ethereal dragon-ish creature(Normally I think centrepieces are of least concern when it comes to struggling armies but in this case it would actually help with the monotony of silhouettes; nighthaunt actually have plenty of infantry options for once)
>>98797562Oh yeah, and how could I forget:CARRION
>>98797243Some kind of beastmaster unit might be cool. Could be featured as a branch of the priesthood with the beasts given those hashutaar helmets.
>>98796972>>98797499What would a dwarf human hybrid look like
>>98797654Feels a bit too organic, if that makes any sense? I do think the battle tome mentions Hashut fighting, and gaining respect for some bull-like monsters, so maybe a smaller version of those could work.I wouldn't mind some acolytes to help flesh out the priesthood. Maybe some sort of mobile shrine to Hashut.
>>98796601There's that short story where they try to blow up Alarielle with a nuke, that one was pretty fun
>>98797562I feel like Hexwraiths are liable to get squatted since Nighthaunt have a refreshed calvary kit technically. Scythe Skellies are on a timer…..
>>98798148Vampire Counts are still in legends and rumors say it’ll stay that way for quite some time. If hexwraiths do get squatted they’ll probably just stay gone

had a fun idea for a yuan-ti style seraphon conversion. no idea on the sizing if they are close enough that it would actually work though. think im gonna wait to see a DoK player in the wild and ask if i can compare their sneks with my saurus before i spend cash on it.

>>98797713What about human cultists a la horns that double as fodder?
>>98798361not him, its a bit redundant innit? I wouldnt mind them reboxinng the warcry team but as an expansion its just meek. I do like human hashut worshipers but its best as a background thing.
>>98796049You know, HoS make a lot more sense when you consider them to be penile legions.
>>98798530"Penal" legions nigga not penile lmfao
>>98798574Holy shit
>>98798574I know what I typed.
>>98798312actually dope conversion idea anon. my guess from seeing both of them in person would be that the saurus waists might be a bit smaller than the snake body. so maybe some belts and stuff to cover it up will achieve the vision. might be wrong tho dont own either just played against them

I think if they’re not gonna put the word “Vampire” on the cover of the SBGL book then I think they should add more “Grave Lords,” A Zombie King would be cool, and more Zombie stuff in general would be neat.
>>98796788>I always thought those skull chains were ugly as fuckSame here , I always imagined some halfwit giggling sniffing from a bottle of his own farts and telling the designer about how cool it would be to have hangman on horses and their weapons are scythes with hanged skulls ripped off heads and they're all on FIRE TOO! This kit needs a remake yesteryear
>>98799256He said about a book that looks like this
>>98796039cos split (order), new human army (death), insects (destruction), elves/umbraneth (chaos)
>>98799256soulblight means vampire
>>98796039>OrderThey've been teasing us with Malerion for years, so that.>ChaosFuck if I know. Beastmen coming back? Be'lakor getting his own guys? Varanguard splitting off and becoming their own thing? Ever since hellsmiths came out there's not really an obvious fit.>DeathSimilar to Chaos, there's not really an obvious choice, but unlike chaos there's actually some direction. Frankenzombies/promethians would be neat. Think the Skaab from MtG's innistrad.>DestructionProbably Silent Ones. Though I still hold out home for Fimir, even though I know it's probably not happening.
>>98799316Be'lakor seems like the most logical option for chaos imo. His whole thing is about the Dark Creed cultists scheming to get him to rise above Archaon as the true everchosen of chaos. It's a great narrative to make a lore event in a future edition. I think it would be very cool
>>98799326Yeah, unless they want to have beastmans return, that's the most logical expansion. It would also REALLY cement him as a power player of the setting. Hell, Be'lakor's guys splitting off from StD could be a narrative reason as to why chaos is no longer ascendant at the end of 4e, their momentum was entirely stopped due to infighting.Though what the faction would be like? I imagine it'd best be styled off of one of the godmarked armies, but not QUITE there. Like there'd be his cultists, chaos warrior equivalents, chosen equivalents, a smattering of lesser, unaligned daemons, but the mortals wouldn't QUITE be up to par with the chosen of the actual gods (either visually or statline wise) and he'd obviously be missing greater daemons and his daemonic forces wouldn't have a fully unified visual style.
>>98799349I wouldn't have belakor's guys split off from normal std but there is definitely a direction to explore within std that could be imagined as present in his armies more than in normal chaos armies, even if it would be present in both. And that direction is chaosfags that don't start as barbarians living in the wilds, so we would have cultists that parasitise the cities of sigmar and soldiers or whole cities that have betrayed their former allegiance to enter the ranks of an organised chaos military industrial complex.Basically pic related but expanded to have a unit of basic bitch cultists, a unit of handgunners or crossbowmen and maybe some warmachines.
>>98799440>cultists>pike and crossbow infantry>existing legionaries >ranged 'cavalry' of centaurions>huge bolt thrower
>>98799440>>98799465so evil estalians?
>>98799479Redundant innit.
>>98796039>TQI feel like most Grand Alliances don't have enough room to fit a whole new army. Adding a smaller faction to the current roster or expanding the army with a bigger soup? Yes. Having a whole new army within Chaos or Death? I don't really see it happening. Soup Malerion with Morathi. Soup Kurnothi with Sylvaneth. Soup Tyrion with Teclis. Keep whatever orruks you want within OWC and whatever gits in GSG. Rename the army if you need to, just like dwarfs are doing or keep the name as it was. GW barely is able to support what we already have, let alone adding more and not abandoning armies for years.
>>98799440They're supposed to be mystery cults, spies, and saboteurs within StD. These are just the few out in the open. I wouldn't expect them to be more advanced than StD, just smarter.
>>98799440Belakor was the mastermind for the cultists in mordheim after all.
>>98799600Sorry, those hoods aren't allowed anymore.
>>98799581Death and Destruction combined have fewer armies than order does alone. Both of them have plenty of room to expand. The reason if feels like there isn't enough room to expand is cause things are so fucking lopsided, so the stuff you see get major expansions or new armies the most often are in the two GAs that don't have room. Soup shit together in order and chaos since they're fine on the number of armies and expand the other two GAs a bit.
>>98799593Them being more advanced is cause they're expanding to infiltrating and stealing shit from the order cities.
>>98799622>Death and Destruction combined have fewer armies than order does alone.Only because order is actually 3 different half-alliances smashed together (humans elves, dwarfs), plus an army of lizards that has nowhere else to go.
>>98799316>ChaosChaos aelfs. Like we have chaos dorfs now and multiple chaos hoomies
>>98799662>Chaos aelfsthat's morathifags and malerionfags>but she actuallychaosfags in denial, slaaneshi mutants from the get go, doing the interests of slaanesh by freeing shem in the end

>>98799679either the races can't interbreed at all or a compatibility is so rare to be almost completely unheard of and also the results are unremarkable like>human x ogre = slightly bigger and dumber human>human x dwarf = slightly shorter and stockier human>human x elf = slightly slimmer and magicaler human
>>98799738The dok are vehemently anti-chaos, whereas Malerion's are currently a wildcard we know nothing about. Could be placed in to chaos
>>98799768>The dok are vehemently anti-chaosA lot of chaos is vehemently anti-chaos, it means nothing, what matters is that morathi, and by extension her progeny, bears the mutations of slaanesh, has helped it birth its demigod children, and is helping it get free by weakening the chains holding it down, regardless of whether those are incidental things.
>>98799600I feel like his warcry dudes take some inspiration from these guys
>>98799790Well, they are an order faction and staunchest opponents of chaos in age of sigmar. GW has stated this countless times across the text over the years.
>>98798312Lizardmen if GW gave a fuck about themThey’re magical aliens but somehow are very boring.
>>98799790>A lot of chaos is vehemently anti-chaos, it means nothingIt means a lot more when it’s an end not a means. Being selfish isn’t what’s at the heart of chaos
>>98799882>Being selfish isn’t what’s at the heart of chaoswhich is why I accused her of being chaotic not for that, but for being mutated by chaos and for doing the interests of chaos in the end
>>98799873Let's not pretend seraphon are some underappreciated army, they got a huge (and very well executed) range refresh last year, have one of the largest ranges already, and are due a bunch of shit in the end of edition campaign according to the rumours™
>>98799705So do they have geomancy alongside rune magic now?
>>98796194They're london tower block inhabitants.
>>98799919Is there nothing those stunties won't steal?Jokes aside Fyreslayers basically already did that, they just turned the rock into magma instead through totally not magic. Runesmiters could create tunnels to deepstrike units like that. Also while looking for this pic I was shocked by how much of the LRL range is online only. I thought it was one of the more popular ranges?
>>98799948Larger ranges don't necessarily have more shelf space in stores, let alone aos ranges, so of course they'd have more of their stuff as online only.Eventually they might turn the entirety of the temples into either online only or spearheads for the faction.
>>98799966Just strange to see models like the big cow get cucked like that.
>>98799891Every faction that infights is doing chaos’ goals even the ones who don’t are still doing chaos’ goals if they’re not directly opposed in action by that logic. Her corruption by slaanesh digestion has yet to manifest into anything other than her amplifying her insecurity in her power. Her actions are specifically about the fastest path to ascension she would lie, cheat, whore, and steal from anyone to become a god. Slaanesh being imprisoned was convenient to her and I very much so imagine that having the souls of the Phoenix Kings stolen from Slaanesh including the complete loss of Anerion, like he’s just fucking gone now, isn’t convenient to slaanesh regardless of how many chains are lost in the process. If she was actively siphoning power from slaanesh or trying to steal any of his domains like his usurpers are, I’d believe it. Otherwise all evidence written points towards that being a consequence of the pantheon still being shattered and Morathi being a bitch who’s always trying to convince everyone she’s THE bitch. One last point unless I’m mistaken and I’m open to being it’s not my strongest point, the chain of stolen apotheosis was the one that was broken. The other chains that broke were not directly tied to slaanesh but could be inflamed by him to be broken. Khorne shattered one on his own and so did Nagash with the necroquake. Morathi raping Slaanesh for the PK souls was not what broke the chains her attempting to steal divinity at all broke the chain, I’d argue that chain would’ve inevitably be broken with how many people want to do that in general. Finally you can argue Morathi is corrupted regardless and or that Slaanesh influenced her actions anyway but there is a distinct difference AoS has made many times between being tricked and corruption by chaos. Hell I’d even agree to some extent that Morathi possibly is being tricked but my true placement is that she isn’t truly corrupted and is simply seeking godhood.
>>98799900I wouldn’t call getting models that looked the exact same for 40 years appreciated. A faction of aliens that spawn in all different shapes and sizes and form within subspecies not just hey a skink and Krox are a lizardmen that’s different :) but the actual range within the army is incredibly uniform. You want a special saurus? Just paint him white I guess lol lmao
>>98799981>Every faction that infights is doing chaos’ goals even the ones who don’t are still doing chaos’ goals if they’re not directly opposed in action by that logic.Morathi does so way more directly than the others, on top of doing things that she knows are weakening slaanesh's chains.>Her corruption by slaanesh digestion has yet to manifest into anything other than her amplifying her insecurity in her power. >>98799992The different shapes and sizes are all just variations of skinks and saurus
>>98800003>Morathi does so way more directlyThe Fyreslayers actively fought for chaos and death and destruction as long as they were paid. >on top of doing things that she knows are weakening slaanesh's chains. You honestly think the great necromancer and supreme lord of undeath isn’t aware of magical apocalypse weakening the firmament? Or that if he knew he would give a single fuck? Or any of the Chaos Gods for that matter? In fact telling Khorne he cannot get too mad or slaanesh would go free would probably make him even madder than he had to be to break the chain. I don’t understand this argument. >And the whole monstrous aspect which is explicitly the form slaanesh gave her based on (one of) its own forms.Okay?>She's in denial, but she's slaanesh's most useful tool, and probably why she was left out of its jaw in the first place. He wasn’t really so fucking mad and full of spite at the outrage of being molested and imprisoned that he was able to give birth to a new greater herald daemon was actually a ruse.

The ancestor iconography is pretty cool and it would help embellish them a little because as it stands they're too plain.
Why didn't the new dwarves follow this aesthetic?
>>98800547They kinda do? Lil' gutplate & pantaloons. We could see dwarf scouts in future releases
>>98800547They kind of do. The axes and gut plate clearly derive from the same design vocabulary. Arguably the ropes and the hem of his clothes also do, since they integrate a twined/braided pattern, which is seen plenty throughout the new KH range.
>>98796350Obr do now have a dedicated shooting unit, which is another way in which they echo tomb kings. The little cartouches are imo also a recognizable nod to egyptian aesthetics. Come to think of it if you wanted to do a Vcoast proxy army you're better of running them as obr than vamps these days. You can run your gunners as triaxes, you cannons as the catapult, your crabs as harvesters.
>>98800547The only difference between the two is that the new dwarfs just have the shitty manufactured armor. Aside from that (and the female heads) they’re literally 1-1. I don’t get why people are comparing them to the ultra armored guys from fb when the appropriate comparison would be clan shields/clan gunners. Either way I think theyre ugly as shit and dwarves should be the expectation to the true scale rule because they’re awful otherwise.

Reminder that the current state of the game is due to Vince’s and heywoahs talking points
>>98801601Even if GW designers listen to them, they’re not obligated to follow what they say. I’m not moving blame off James for this
>>98801585this is the trend for literally every game these days, both video game and table top. It's cyclic - content creators complain about balance and the "meta" > developers sanitize and homogenize the game in order to appease metafags and competetive players > people complain the game is too "meta" oriented and stale > developers walk it back to focus on uniqueness and pre-meta concepts. See WoW Forever's success in the face of the current day modern wow.

I said in chat "but the one time it works!" and he laughed imagining it. "Hell yeah! Especially for a campaign or something... >>98801806yeah? the claw of gork? what about it?
>>98801791I know it's a common kitbash but I never liked it. It's supposed to depict a battle, not him brooding at home. Unless it's like a kurdoss or slann type deal.
>>98801823It wouldn't be my first choice either (nor would have been his current floaty pose) but it's obvious people like the look of nagash on a throne, given the artworks and conversions and even a slayer sword winner.I guess the throne could be on a moving mound of bones or a floating upside pyramid.
>>98801778>>98801783
>>98801806We already knew it was a wyvern. So is the mawkrusha, though I imagine the new one will be lankier. Path to glory or similar should be the default game mode for AoS. To the point that tournaments should literally be run as short path to glory campaigns.
>>98802432depends on the clerk's mood mine has always been a new player only thing, build it on the spot and buy £20+ after if you want to keep it. other people have chill store managers tho
>>98802446in 3rd edition it was all my lgs played but 4th stripped down the system for whatever reason and it's inherently compromised by fighting for 4th ed enhancements that are 1) boring and 2) there's only 3 max
>>988024565e should reverse those changes and go in the other direction. Tournament players are useful, but focusing on their experience is stupid since they're both always going to be a minority of players, and are a sort of "Advanced" form of players (IE a new player basically always starts as a casual and later becomes a tourney player). They can still have tournaments since, as I said before, they're EXTRMELY useful for balancing purposes, but the main focus of design and majority of content produced should be for narrative play.

>>98802433SFG handle the sales side of things, PP is still at the helm of the game design working with SFG. And the game is still competitive as ever.
>>98802545> And the game is still competitive as ever.this is what turned me off of it, as someone who started playing in the early 00s. it was a really fun game early on when everyone was treating it as any other wargame, and there was a lot of uncertaintybut then the competitive community crept in over time with flat terrain, scoring zones, effect rings, proxy bases and worst of all the fucking chess clocks and it just sweated me right out of the game. i still maintain that its one of the best wargames ever made. decades of incredibly well designed and flavorful models, super dynamic and interesting gameplay with each general having their own spell lore and the focus or fury systems, jacks and beasts getting slams and throws and tramples, etc, but the community that evolved around the game and enforces a bunch of competitive nonsense to suck the soul of it has really poisoned the franchise, probably forever.
>>98802578If it's any consolation: Mk4 has been pushing for better tables, both in terms of amount of terrain and strongly encouraging of 3D terrain. The events/tourny scenes also been pushing it with blighterghast campaign, the cephalyx reveal following into their themed terrains, the cygnar trenches and trainworks, etc.
>>98802447you now have to take a paint class to keep it.
>>98802479I apologize to fyreslayers. You guys were cool all along. Vulkites still ugly tho
>>98802639having recently built and about halfway through painting 2k pts of fyreslayers, i will say this: the vulkites are not as good as the newer flameseekers, but with the right options in the kit they are also nowhere near as bad as people make them out to be. choosing an axe and shield instead of the dual axes really helps break up the symmetry problem, especially if you do a little work with switching up some of the weapon and shield arms. second, the symmetrical face problem is not as pronounced if you choose not to use the faces where the beards are flaring out to the side. those ones make it very obvious, but there's enough other heads in the kit that you can skip them, and when you do, they look more or less like any other dwarf kit. i've got 40 vulkites and i never really had a problem feeling like the models had that symmetry issue that was always present in the webstore photos. only real downside is that the muscles arent as well defined as they are on the heroes or more elite kits, but you can overcome that with paint. the weapons, shields, helms and belts are all very well detailed.
Speaking of muscle bound retards and disappointment, I really wish kairics kept some of their identity. The tzeentch battletome is competitive for sure but kairics are now back to being the most useless warscroll in the book with soggy gone. I WANT their options back, and I want to be able to buff them to be able to do more than what they had in 3e. Fucks sake they even lost their ranged profile that they had with the index. I’d love nothing more than to make an entire army of kairics with empowered mortal heros leading them but the army of renown sucks so much balls even by the already shitty standards that army of renown’s already have.
Tzeench is totally going to get some love after Khorne gets his DP Khul, surely DoT won’t be forgotten. Even a pebble of the amount of attention Nurgle gets please

>>98803786Disappointment is going to peak at the time of the initial release. With a totally new army there would be no expectations to fail to meet. Also, fec was an army made of old WFB kits and their expansion was generally well received, as were ogres.
>>98803799Skaven updates are also well received, if I think about it more. They're basically 50/50, although chorfs probably have grown on people more than most armies
>>98803832i can't think of the last time a skaven update came out and it was ill-received, at least from the model side. rules-wise, yeah there's some rough shit here and there. weird trend of some of the cooler models having the worst warscrolls imaginable as well, see picrel
Anyone have any decent proxy ideas for tzeentch demons besides the lord of change
>>98802671Anyone who's actually built the models knows they're not bad at all and it's obvious some shortcomings are to allow full compatibility between all the weapons, bodies, heads etc.I have like 20 and I'm gonna miss them. Maybe I should get another 10 while I still can but I dunno.
>>98796039Soon
>>98803962"they're basically 50/50" did not refer to skaven being 50/50 good and bad, it referred to range refreshes as a whole being 50/50. fec, skaven, ogors were well received, dwarves, cos and chorfs got a lot of complaints. People kind of came around on CoS and chorfs, though steel helms still get a lot of complaints.
>>98803786I liked the new ogres and I feel like most people here did too. Except for morga.
>>98804456morga is not a bad model, but she's a bad special character because she's simply not special at all
>>98804471She's a named build option for a generic hero. I don't see Skumdrekk getting these complaints in spite of being even more indistinguishable from the base kit.
>>98804471That’s the general consensus yes. I feel like this also applies to the tyrant build, as well as the foot tyrant and grell. The characters barely feel like characters, more like unit champions. For morga and grell this really sucks because they're named.
>>98804481skumdrekk isn't excessively special either but he's not the overall faction leader, and he's also got fancier equipment than the base version, including a cool clawmorga is just a female tyrant, a sidegrade in everything other than that little golden decorations on the hatshe basically requires you to make her special with a paintjob, since her mace is allegedly special but looks anonymous, and her mount is also a symbol of her rise to power, but isn't that peculiar, they could have made it an albino or something at least
>>98804481>>98804562Both she and Skum are smaller 2n rate named character anyway. Red is the main of Mawtribes as evident by his own special subfaction and largest model
>>98804481Skumdrekk is has a marginally better gear so he would count but he is also a chump with 3 paragraphs of lore, monster AoR in faction with no non-hero monsters and shit warscroll which buffs shit chaff unit and is cheaper than generic, landing him in a "I pity that nigga" category
>>98804583Still, I wish that they turn Gob into generic, give Skumdrekk at least 1 monster and upgrade his warscroll
>>98804581Morga is clearly the faction leader, redd is a subfaction leader like droggz or krethusaSkum is a literally who character though I agree.
>>98804581>morga>2n rate named characternigga why do you bend over backwards to hold such absurd shit all to not admit that the model is mediocre? do you get paid for that at least?

>>98804616If you're too lazy to edit the colours of an image then just use ai to generate different colour schemes for yourself. A gross expenditure of resources to accomplish simple tasks, just because you can, seems pretty on brand for Helsmiths, honestly.Conversely, wait for to see if GW drops any more kits for the Helsmiths before committing to them. You might not like the direct they end up taking, or it might opt to not really support them outside of the obligatory hero release every year or so.
>>98804625These are all so fucking awful. I guess when they give you free shill minis you don't give a fuck about decent color schemes
>>98804632>picVGH...As for halflings I believe the relevant rumour was something like "diminituive buhsy fellows with odd helmets" or something along those lines, which could mean just about anything. Probably referring to khazalites actually? Anyway, halflings was just one possible interpretation that some people ran with.
>>98804615I rate them as one of the best new armies gw made up in aos, but they came at an unfortunate crossroad of hype, expectations and needs for the setting:-broken realms was awesome, save the last installment, and people were hoping for something BIG, instead they are a perfectly standard addition to the setting, but not one with an extraordinary introduction-people were expecting something for destruction, due to the succession of starters' bad guys, and because the alliance is the weaker one, but people were expecting either something completely out of the left field, or something that laid the groundwork, like normal orcs, instead kruleboys are neither of those extremes-starter sets need a horde army or at least a horde unit to drive up the number of models in the box since stormcasts are obligatorily an elite force, while kruleboys are also quite big, so they ended up getting fucking hobgrots and the absence of another unit of actual krules is sorely feltwhat adds insult to injury is that gw is fucking retarded for what concerns cross compatibility, so hobgrots turned out to be a redundant kit and they're stuck with ironjaws who have little in common with them instead of having access to existing destruction stuff that actually fits their looks and themes
>>98804647They're not realy sheme suggestions, more like displaying what random paints look like on the texture of the model

>>98804654I agree, krules are a cool faction with plenty of neat oldhammer callbacks but they should never have been put in a starter box. It's like if 40k put genestealers in an starter set, or dogs of war in tow. Cool factions, but a little bit too niche of a concept for a launch box.I also agree that their range has a weird composition. Idoneth syndrome where they have plenty of big centrepieces/single model units (gnashtoof, sloggoth, troggoth, both sludgeraker builds, both vulcha builds) but very little normal units to go with it. I mean they're missing cav, and to make matters worse all their monsters are heroes (except the sloggoth which is technically a warmachine)
>>98804693idoneth has a perfect composition unlike them: they've got one generic centerpiece, one special centerpiece, a medium sized utility unit, a dual option cavalry, and then infantrythe two problems are that instead of an elite infantry they got a second basic bitch infantry, and that the two basic bitch infantry units look like ass because they're half naked instead of capitalising on the factions' good designs

>>98805044I think there's a LOT of great improvements since 2e and I want to keep some stuff while rolling back the drive to sanitize army rules. Things I like, that kind of sucked in 2e:- 32mm elite unites are not garbage. In 2e, coherency and 1" range attacks made armies like Khorne, Mawtribes, or elite configurations of 32mm bases much worse independent of stat blocks. A massive brick of 25mm units buffed with multiple bonuses led to stuff like giant marauder blocks and zombies blocks. - I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but I really despised metas like stormdrakes and dracoths where you'd play one warscroll eight times and that's the list. It's okay for the occasional monster mash list, but it really came to a head with the release of stormdrakes. Not only was it boring, even worse imo is that it LOOKED boring. Wargames are at their best when we dedicate ourselves to immersion, and it's easier to imagine an army when they're a variety of models. Once per X (Army) solved this problem. - Look Out Sir! was not present in 2e, I don't think it was implemented until Gallatian Veterans I think. So armies like Khorne got it coming and going, where elite infantry was bad and foot heroes were bad. It also meant if you have an army ability you need an important hero for, your best bet was to use a centerpiece named character, and I personally like when generics are viable. - CURRENTLY, you cannot ignore terrain because of the places of power thing. On one hand, it's a little extreme how important it is, but I don't mind that terrain matters. - Regiments of renown are pretty good right now. Not all of them, but many of them are either interesting enough or strong enough that you aren't shooting yourself in the foot.
>>98804903The two heroes in the bottom right are legitimately good looking in my opinion. I know you can use them as alt sculpts but having the remnants of Fyreslayers work like that one Khorne foot-Herohammer formation would have been nice (Gorechosen?)
Do you guys think that eyes in helmets look better as normal eyes or glowing eyes? I like doing regular eyes, but I think it looks worse than glowing eyes.
>>98805090If anything the most recent fyreslayer heroes which get to stay are the worst sculpts imo. Whoever sculpted them clearly didn't quite get the faction's aesthetic, and that was fine while all of them were still available...
>>98805100I don't think chaos warriors should have humanised eyes unless you're looking specifically to emphasize some leftover humanity in them, which is hardly something people want to do in an army, rather than a diorama
>>98804981Yeah I guess the idea is for them to be a more elite wing of the larger khazalite force.
>>98804754As someone who has a massive Fyreslayer army since day 1 - perk of working for GW at the time, this fucking sucks major ass.
>>98804754>This time they'll stop squatting stuff... Everything after this point is safeI heard this with 2e CoS, 3e CoS, 4th squatting, etc it never endsAoS exclusives aren't safe just buy what you want to use within 1-3 years only
>>98805017I would call consistent tomes, lore inclusions, campaign inclusions, and constant heroes good support in comparison too Tzeench’s what exactly?
>>98804734>Nighthaunt units getting squatted next edition and a Nagash which is getting refreshed >Gore Gruntas they're squatting >Chaos Warriors they're maybe refreshing in the starter LMAO

>>98804734The slave to darkness one is the real winner here. Probably an easy 2x buy. dunno about anything more than that. If ironjawz had that box last year I would have bought into the army, I do think the cav needs a resculpt but its likely never gonna happen. I have no opinions on the bastian one, the AOR its suited for is kinda meh. Nagash is the highlight of his box I guess. Would have liked something similar for sylvnaeth with thunder thighs.
>>98796259Maybe some kinda dark elves or some other elven equivalent of the chaos dwarves. Also a beasts of chaos rerelease but I dunno how likely that is
>>98805253Go traditional. Dark Elf/Dwarf under the mountain.
>>98805140Has tzeentch not had all of that?
>>98805270Outside of 1e, maybe…2e, tzeentch hasn’t had much campaign inclusion.
>>98805270Tzeench barely even gets antagonist spots in novels. You can hate how GW has supported Fyreslayers but you have to be drunk to think it wasn’t better than the next to nothing Tzeench has
>>98805273what campaign inclusions did the fire manlets had that was more influential than the role of the silver towers?
>>98805285City of secrets was at least a book, that’s more than slayers got as far as I can recall.
>>98805285I mean I guess they've been more involved in the campaign books, but in terms of miniature support (which I think was the original subject) tzeentch and fyreslayers have had about the same treatment I would say. Only difference being tzeentch already had plenty of pre-aos models to draw from whereas for fyreslayers their meagre support in aos was literally all they had.
>>98805285You have to be drunk to think fyreslsyers were more supported than tzeentch, you mean.
>>98805290Dawnbringers I remember. I don’t know what, but they were there. I’m not sure about broken realms.

>>98804841Yeah, previous rumor didn't mention the Battlesmith going, and was neutral on the terrain/spells. Losing the Battlesmith sucks, I liked that guy. And the spells of course, still some of my favorite endless spells GW ever put out.
>>98805291Do the Gotrek books count as Fyreslayers though?

>>98805298No
>>98805301cool wips, hope they end up finishing them in time for the publication of the battletome!
>>98805301The new guy is fighting the other new guy
>>98805291Fyreslayers launched with a BL novel (anthology style) and were heavily featured in several books, including the White Dwarf Novels, The first Gotrek Audio Drama and Soulslayer, etc. Lots of short stories too, and they had a prominent role in the last end of edition campaign. They're also supposedly getting a big role in an upcoming campaign book. They were prominent in the first campaign series too, obviously. As much as GW shit on Fyreslayers for actual model updates, I never felt they were neglected in the lore.
>>98805301Cool.
Gotta remind myself that these pics are only meant to viewed in a porthole the size of a postage stamp.
>>98805308>>98805301>>98805327OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>98804754RIP FSbros. As a DoKfag myself, take comfort in knowing that we're likely right behind you on the chopping block.GW's pro-clothing bigotry strikes again. We're not gonna make it naked bros.
>>98805320In any case, I think what actually happened is that the fate of Fyreslayers was decided very early on, and that's the real reason they didn't get any support. You gotta remember, the 2E Fyreslayer battletome was the one that got the ball rolling on rumors of Dwarf Soup and the return of Dispossesed/Grugni, and that was more than 7 years ago now. GW probably had early plans for KH going back to before 2E was published, and that's the real reason they've been dragging their feet on doing ANYTHING with duardin in AoS from 1E until now. It's not like KO were getting shitload of support either, arguably they had less than Fyreslayers until 4E finally threw them a small bone in exchange for not getting souped.
>>98805296Why wouldn't the lord of change count?>>98805299Does this not support my argument? If anything tzeentch had slightly more attention.
>>98805341Ok, I’ll bite. What is it THIS time, little guy?
>>98805301the art in this book looks so phenomenally bad it genuinely makes me question the future of this game. are they giving these artists half an hour on their lunchbreak to complete a battletomes art? what the fuck is this shit? these are like 2 minute thumbnail scribbles.
>>98805348Because it’s an aos model. Not something that looks like hammered shit like the majority of the demon range in general.
>>98804903losing the forge and invocations seems so god damn spiteful. the new army didnt even get any of their own. there's no reason not to include them other than fuck you for spending money on our game
>>98805348>slightly
>>98805354>thumbnail scribblesWell yeah that's basically what they are. In the print version of the map >>98805301 they might be like 200x200 in size.
isn't battering the mouth of your ancestor with a big hard rod insensitive?
>>98805343As a DoKfag I'm kinda scared now. Witch Aelves, Sisters of Slaugter, all versions of Cauldron of Blood / Bloodwrack Shrine with all foot heroes that they come with, High Gladiatrix and Endless Spells, all of this will be gone. All we'll get is one pity hero. Maybe I'm wrong and we'll stay a hugely female army because diversity only works one way...
>>98804654I wish the Kruelboyz mixed with Ironjawz same way the new Hold dwarves and the skaven armies do, instead of being two segregated armies being shoved into same tome despite needing RoR to even run together. >>98805363I don't even understand why, could have just restricted their use to FS-themed hold armies, EEs in general been kinda slowly filtered out of the game. At least faction terrains are still made, looking at the new CoS release.
>>98805357Oh I misread your post, I thought you were talking about which models tzeentch got AFTER aos, my bad. In which case, yeah, the daemons. Which don't look great I agree, but it still bulks out the range.>>98805369Anon my point was that fyreslayers didn't get more attention than tzeentch did. I'm not the guy claiming tzeentch are more neglected than fyreslayers.
>>98805301Seems kinda smalllike pic is a minor hold from Warhammer Fantasy and that seems bigger than this
>>98805413I guess because they are still relatively new in the setting and haven't had as much time to expand out yet?>>98805405Honestly speaking of either armies feels like a competition for top spot in a neglected child competition.
>>98805363You dont understand anon, those extra warscrolls all need pages and thats going to unreasonably push up the price of printing the book.
>>98805401I don't think you have to worry about anything but the cauldron kit to be honest, which to be fair makes up like 5 warscrolls. But even then I don't think it's going. DoK aren't nearly as cursed with one off foot heroes as fyreslayers are.
>>98805427DoK if anything have the opposite problem, GW had to slap together some new foot heroes for them specifically because all they had early on was the Cauldron kit.
>>98805426Oh damn, you are right. No one will buy a 70USD tome full of lazily photographed models and some blurry art, 65USD is a much more consumer friendly price.I hate GW so much sometimes.
>>98805343As Idoneth player I'm getting comfy with the idea that they will soup us with DoK. The idea has been there at least since Broken Realms Morathi
>>98805442I’d rather idoneth be souped in with sylvaneth but that’s because it’s a less of a cutthroat alliance
>>98805413You can see it continuing downwards, much like the karak from fantasy. I assume it stretches on for a bit.>>98805434Always wondered why the sorceress didn't join DoK and instead went to CoS.
>>98805442I feel like one of these armies is more likely to be souped with Malerion, while the other will remain free much like KO are. If I had a bet, DoK would be merged with Malekith simply because several DoK underworld bands already features males in their line up.
>>98805442idoneth don't belong with umbraneth, unless you also put sylvaneth with lumineth
>>98805301THIS DOES NOT SATISFY
>>98805290Bro got mentioned once in 7 years and considers it an Olympic prize lmaoo
>>98805453>Always wondered why the sorceress didn't join DoK and instead went to CoS.I think a lot of GW's decisions in that era were made in the expectation that various things were coming much sooner than they ended up being. You gotta remember, 2nd Edition AoS kicked off the Dwarf Soup rumors, it introduced Kurnothi, it had people convinced a Darkoath Army was imminent, and surely after Lumineth landed Malerion was just around the corner. GW was also already teasing Chorfs that far back.Basically every "coming soon" expectation people got sick and tired of talking about started in 2E and then ran face first into Covid and the great slog of 3E. We will probably never know how much AoS shit had to be pushed back specifically in 3E.
>>98805514>it had people convinced a Darkoath Army was imminentTo be fair malign portents had a sacrosanct dude, a nighthaunt, a cave shaman and a darkoath warqueen. Then we got sacrosanct vs nighthaunt in the launch box, gloomspite like a year after, and darkoath ...two editions later.I guess she was meant to represent warcry, but still.
>>98805427>5 warscrollsLet's count them together:>Slaughter Queen>Hag Queen>Slaughter Queen on Cauldron of Blood>Hag Queen on Cauldron of Blood>Bloodwrack Shrine>Bloodwrack Medusa>Avatar of KhaineThat's 7 warscrolls.
>>98805453>Always wondered why the sorceress didn't join DoK and instead went to CoS.Could have made them rejoin during the Broken Realms campaign. I even got myself a box they released back then. Oh well, at least putting together a dragon was fun.
>>98805528Sure, I'm not saying it was unreasonable. GW themselves were hyping the hell out of Darkoath and Kurnothi back then, just...man. Different era for sure, in terms of marketing, fan expectations, and everything else.
>>98805308Maybe I have bad taste but that looks pretty great to me
>>98805530Avatar of khaine is a manifestation now, meaning we're both wrong :)

>>98805566Are manifestations not warscrolls?
>>98805540I wish I had picked up two boxes, it was a great price and nice start-off point, not to mention the sorceress would've looked great next to my dreadlord. Also the story conclusion is funny as the traitor lady is now stuck in a glorified janny duty since no one ever trusts a traitor.

>>98805401Im torn. I want DoK to remain its own thing, but after the dumpster fire that was the blood hags, I seriously doubt GW's ability to expand the range without undermining it's fundamental character. If they're gonna fuck up the DoK aways, may as well get the (not)Dark Elves out of it. >>98805530Please don't remind me how small the range actually is. >>98805454If anything, I'd think consolidating ranges would be done to reduce the number of (nonhuman) factions, and to make the existing ranges look bigger than they really are. If the (not)Dark Elves do get released, DoK will likely be folded into them to keep the number of elf factions at three - just like how the dwarfs are back to three with the folding of the FS into the Khazalite holds.
>>98805640I already know you're retarded, anon. You don't have to keep digging.
>>98805514>Basically every "coming soon" expectation people got sick and tired of talking about started in 2EIs this GW’s fault or the fact that people can’t read and recover every gulp shitto to get an army Root Kings and Silent People any day now btw

The problem is that they're elite infantry.Which elves where less armour the better they are. >>98806307They are a pretty big filter for most people, from what I seen online. Probably biggest filtering out factions.

Nighthaunt were middle of the pack in that one, at the higher end of mediocre.
>>98806307I mean IDK are:>Hard to play>Hard to paint>Have no models>Nobody likes the infantryNot surprising.
>>98806307its just the very bad rules really. Lumineth has better mobility than them which is their entire thing(idk). Doesnt help that they have had the same crutches since their launch. Sylvaneth at least has had different gameplay identities and are easy as shit to paint.
>>98806307Cattle have no taste.
>>98806307I don’t worry about it almost at all but I can’t help but be the tiniest bit anxious about eventually seeing a Warcom article titiled “An update on the Idoneth Deepkin model range” or something like that and immediately knowing what it’s about.I feel IDK have low popularity because they’re quite a bit tougher to both paint and play than average, receive little attention from GW both lore and model wise, and also require a bit more imagination to “immerse” in than other factions.
>>98806307i thought they were popular when they were released, but especially idk hard to stay that way when all you been given since 2018 is like 3 heros and still having anemic as fuck roster

>>98806142I'm genuinely curious, what are the popular factions at everyone's LGS? CoS, SBGL, and gitz are the big three in my area. I legitimately don't think I've ever seen anyone actually play stormcast in person.
>>98806419It’s a small crowd for me so there’s not really enough to show a “most popular”. I will say I’ve faced more than 1 player with StD, SBGL, Gitz, and Sylvaneth, though. I think 3 total StD players and 2 SBGL. I’m bringing LRL and IDK(shelved for now), and the TO also has IDK.
>>98806419I’m the sole person who has tzeentch everyone else seems to have stormcast and ogors and helsmiths. There are flavors of chaos here and there but there’s only like 2 slaanesh players and both of them have dok.

Some of my first models were Nighthaunt and after painting chainrasps and glaivewraiths I was pretty much good on painting them. It took me forever to finish Reikenor because I was just sick of painting the same bed sheets. Individually the kits and characters look cool. But they all wear the same sheets and ghostly sheets really don't lend themselves to a wide variety of painting styles and effects.>tl;drToo samey, boring to paint.
>>98806821why do u call her bitch wife
>>98806307Faction popularity is almost directly correlated to range size, foot heroes excluded. Though there are a couple of exceptions in both directions.Idk and ko specifically are also probably the two most "love em or hate em" armies in the game.
>>98806250>>98806570But they're nowhere near as popular as actual Space Marines. We know that because GW actually bothers to make models for armies that aren't Stormcast. I figured Cities would top them at least. I really assumed that they would be the "least popular" amongst the most popular armies, like bottom of the top quartile.
>>98806914They've been in every launch box so they're cheap as fuck, paint up easily while still providing opportunity to show off at just about every skill level, and are pretty elite and therefore easy to collect on top of everything else.Yeah they don't dominate like space marines, but is it really a surprise? I imagine stormcast may not be a whole lot of people's FAVOURITE army, but there's still a lot of people who probably at least own *a* stormcast army.
>>98806821Who the fuck is that
>>98806958He's talking about Maleneth Witchblade.
>>98806914Every few months we get a guy like you anon let me put you on to knowledge They're very easy models to collect or find second hand without spending money. It’s not occult science
Waiting for extremis to be redone before I get into stormcast Or for ruination to get expanded on Or for sacrosanct to get brought back Or for vanguard to look better
>>98807073If I had to guess I'd say next starter set will probably be redone vanguard + some extremis stuff in the post launch wave. Maybe a sprinkling of reclusian stuff if they want to push the grimdark stuff. Come to think of it if the stormcast rumours are true, what the fuck will reclusians be doing next edition?
>>98806840Also, people have a price memory. When models go from being thrown away or handed out for free, to full MSRP, people don't like that. Stuff like some of the Start Collecting boxes are still fresh in my mind - an entire FEC army out of a couple starter boxes for example, or Hobgrots/Vindicators from the 3e launch will always be worth next to nothing in my mind.>>98806945Yeah man I don't even like stormcast and some of my best paint jobs are on random fatcast that were free or nearly free
>>98807073>Or for vanguard to look betterThey're only gonna get worse.
>>98807073>>98807094We already know exactly what thunderstrike vanguard stuff looks like
>>98805931Working at Warhammer World in the UK, actually. Nothing too amazing, just helping maintain and switch out displays and make sure nothing went missing and anything damaged was repaired, replaced or re-painted.
>>98807117Worse.
>>98806974Oh, it’s just a joke, lol
>>98807192You’re smoking fucking Varanite laced warpstone dude what the fuck
>>98806867She’s a perfect fit for the bitch husband all these two do is bitch I love em
Exclusive look at nagash new model which will debut in 5th
>>98807298I wouldn’t be opposed to a foot model of nagash as long as he has flesh and bones
>>98799581>I feel like most Grand Alliances don't have enough room to fit a whole new army. GW barely is able to support what we already have, let alone adding more and not abandoning armies for years.Kragnos should have found his people and have them be an army of centaur guys and the Silent People should be undead mummified bugs worshiping an unspeakable god of ghur that has been warped with shyish energy to become a death beast god seeking to devour kragnos and nagash in its mad throes to cope with the extinctio nof its chosen children.
>>98807353>>98807353>>98807353
>>98799969trueGW should only stock the really big models like howl's moving castle, cow guy, gargants, that chinese golem from cathay, imperial knows etc. Fags who like playing small infantry based armies can get cucked.
>>98807224Remember, anon. It’s new so it’s automatically worse.
>>98806419I’m curious about what anons in this general play/collect
>>98806914Not as popular because fantasy 40k isn’t actual 40k ofc
