Hello /wip/, today I painted a cute redhead for my diorama.
>>98806157Cute. Highlight the hair with some ochre
>>98806157Is she single?
>>98806248No, but she has a twin sister>>98806172I considered orange, but ochre might be more fitting.
>>98806295Post the twin.
Hello /wip/ here's my finished Macedonian successor phalangite. I've had this mini in my box for more than ten years and decided to paint it after recently painting a Roman from the same company. I wanted to paint a phalangite from the main phalanx, a settler given land in return for service in major campaigns. The successor kingdoms of Alexander were very wealthy so I went as garish as possible for this one but still based on historical finds.
The entire mini! If you'd like I can post the Osprey art with the shield I copied.
Hey /wip/ I finally finished my diorama. That fucking lens flare/ starburst, whatever the fuck it's called, almost made me go insane. Plastic was too brittle, paper too frizzy. So I made some strings with resin and finally used sandpaper too make it finer. This was the fifth iteration, after some broke during sanding. If any one has a better idea.
>>98806377That's epic.
>>98806377Very cool anon.
>>98806377Noice
>>98806377Hey, that's really cool, good work, it looks great. For future reference, this is the kind of thing metal is good for. cut the parts out of a tin can or something, or just use needles, or wire or whatever. If you wanted really accurate, thin but rigid brass sheets would also be good to cut it out of.
>>98806377cool as fuck. Peak Heavy Metal feel.
>>98806377I would have used a soda can for the starburst. Thin Aluminum could have been cut to size, bent into shape and it holds primer pretty good. Just be sure to wash the can out before hand so it's not sticky with dried pop.
>>98805976>You'd just think people would get pissed like meyou said it yourself> for the first time in years you are not the target audience, you seem to have a working brain>Also, I don't really think modern minis have more detail.they have more detail, not necesarilly better detail, but more belts, seals, buttons, straps and thingamajigs, and when you have more detail going in different directions (like a purity seal on the knee and another on the thigh sideways) suddenly you can't mold that leg in one part because your mold only has two sides, so you have to split the leg down the middle in a non-straight line to accomodate each seal facing sideways or whatever>I've just been so fucking frustrated about it I wanted to vent to somebody who knows what I'm talking about. buy somewhere else, old secondhand models, metal, resin, or look at what other companies are doing, like victrix, frostgrave, archon or whateverthere are plenty of good models out there that aren't gw
>>98806348nice toes

>>98805942these look great. the snow came out looking like snow. next time, i'd underpaint the base more, with leaving it black it looks unfinished in the areas where it shines through.
>>98806502you can have molds with more than 2 parts, but gw doesn't seem capable of making them.
>>98806731>>98806731ofc, but those are more expensive, need new injection machines, more engineering and wear out more, gw wants none of that
>>98806377>So I made some strings with resinMan....I thought those were toothpicks.
Don’t know if this is the right thread, but this is a monster I am working on in nomadsculpt, perhaps to use as a beast of nurgle.Any feedback much appreciated
>>98806606Thanks, I was not sure what colour should I use for ground under the snow, however. This is arctic planet so I assumed that I should paint it very dark (contrast dark grey over dark brown ground paste), only ran drybrush with light gray over it.

I would love to archive the WGA Death Fields line of models as stls in case WGA just suddenly shuts their doors. But I'm not sure how good scanners are and how much digital cleanup is necessary.

Can anyone recommend swords for kitbashed death cult assassins?
>>98810198NTA but I'm writing a book here.I think a lot of AI hate is a bit hypocritical from artists because for decades "post modern art" that is really just talentless hack jobs on canvas or as sculptures selling for millions has been around for too long. And I don't recall there ever being a huge movement to stop that bullshit and put actual talent back on the walls of the art museums. Now AI is here and suddenly artists are running around saying it is talentless bullshit. Now they are saying that art should have some talent and skill involved. Even the sloppiest of paintjobs on miniatures are better than post modern art because they take effort and a bit of skill. Even your rushed basecoat+acrylic wash jobs on miniatures had more talent than the banana taped to a wall or the line of black canvases or voice of fire. I'm not gonna pretend that AI art is good. Or that I am creative because a machine hallucinated stuff. My imagination was shot long before AI. I just think it is stupid that so many pretentious artists are upset at AI when they had so much time to call out post modern art, but choose to do so now because plebs like us not in their clique can now be talentless and produce visuals with a machine.
>>98810215>My go to is meshyHow good is meshy for using 360 degree shots of miniatures to be archived as STLs? I think /grog/ and /3dpg/ were all over it before, but I forgot what generators they were using for archiving minis as STLs.
>>98810191>>98810215These look bad. I'm glad they make you happy but the FDM prints plus the A.I. generated minatures is a terrible combo>>98810219K? But none of us are "artists" that tape a banana on a wall and call it art. We are just minature painters here. If anon cobbled together those minatures from kitbashing or sculpted them himself they would be pretty good because it took effort and skill to do but the very apparent FDM lines coupled with the lazy AI gen makes them look like shit.
>>98810229Idk, just ask ai, thats not my workflow, i really just try and feed it 1 solid concept slop gpt imageIm just learning and exploring, but im starting to dial in my print settings and they r getting better
>>98810219No one talks about or gives a shit about modern art galleries. They're a money laundering and dick measuring scheme for rich people, little else. The artists that are complaining, are the ones in the trenches, working in games, commissions, animation, etc.
>>98810239The talk about AI art made me big mad as it reminded me of the hypocrisy but I know not all artists are part of the problem.I don't think the anon is pretending that he is some skilled digital sculptor. Or if he is then I missed the post when I scrolled up to check. The FDM lines don't help at all to be honest. It is gonna be a while before FDM catches up with resin. And even when FDM catches up I wonder how good resin printers will be. Assuming there is no technological stagnation or "enshittification" for the technology. >>98810250>No one talks about or gives a shit about modern art galleries.I care. They should be filled with talent.>They're a money laundering and dick measuring scheme for rich people, little else.Yeah I should have mentioned that part. It is nice that clique is suffering. But the money laundering will continue unfortunately. >The artists that are complaining, are the ones in the trenches, working in games, commissions, animation, etc.I should have mentioned those ones are the ones I feel real sympathy for. I was seeing red.
That people hold up the Mona Lisa as some sort of pinnacle masterpiece of art says a lot about how much people actually value art for art's sake. Modern AI makes shit every day that shits on the Mona Lisa and yet secondaries and non-artists will shit on it as "slop" for no reason other than feelings.
>>98810219>>98810273I think beyond the strawman spergout, the main problem with your argument stems from the fact you are not able to determine what art actually means.English word "art" comes from the Latin "ars," which means skill, craft, or workmanship. Ars comes from a Proto-Indo-European root that means "Put something together." Germanic languages use "kunst," which comes from a Proto-Germanic word (kunanna) that means "to know, be able to" (btw English "can" comes from that word, too, which should give you another hint). All Slavic languages have the word art tied, again, to the skill, craftsmanship, etc. Finally, if you go to a literal fucking dictionary, you'll find this under art: >"the conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects (also works so produced)."Or>"skill acquired by experience, study, or observation">"a branch of learning">"an occupation requiring knowledge or skill"etc. Noticed something? It's not about the result. Art is not a painting, song, or a statue, it's about the good, learned, skilled/improvement-based process of human creation. This means that neither a turd on a canvas in a post-modern gallery, let alone some shitty slop, is art. It's not, and in the case of slop, it can't ever be. I'm pretty certain that if sloppers would stop pretending like they are somehow creative, the backlash would be a lot milder. Even the dingus itt opened up he thinks it's more creative than painting a marine. When it comes to post-modern garbage, other anon already said everything. It's not even art, and even during it's heyday that's now long gone, there was never any general agreement about it.

>>98810191>it took hours of iteration before i could 1 shot it on meshy.Man, it's just writing a couple of sentences, AI sloppers are truly among the most cognitively bankrupt beings in the planet.Sculpting, even on the computer, does take actual hours of work and iteration for a result that's going to be infinitely more soulful, worthwhile and beautiful. You speak about your vision and call AI close enough, Scotty, but that's mediocre. Actually sculpt it yourself and materialise your vision completely, there is no close enough.
>>98810329You'd be a shit art critic if you never discussed technique

And the resulting discussion you're bitching about is centered on that actual contributory work.

>>98810603>it understands color theory better than I doI'm beginning to understand people that claim there's no difference now. Okay, maybe someone here would have some idea.I'm trying to put together mini from one crowdfounded game and this is one of those moments where poor mold quality hits the worst. Outer holes on left part are too "high", don't know how to properly describe it but they cannot get all the way down on pegs on right part, the square part under pegs block it. Normally it wouldn't be much of a problem but some cleaver designer decided to make side parts for the torso on the right to fit exactly position of that left part - and since it misses something like 0.2mm or around from getting all the way, whole construction simply refuse to fit together. The problem is - I don't know how to sand down those elements where the holes reside. I cannot get here with either file or knife. Already had to drill out the left hole since it was filled with material, clear mold imperfection. Wasted whole hour already, trying to figure out why the part refuse to slide exactly how it should. Whole experience so far brings back memories of cheapest scale models. Anyone with some idea?

>>98811931"RDL Cavalry" from "Ember: Obsidian Protocol". Looked quite interesting on paper and I liked the design but mold quality is somewhat lower than expected. I would need to out them all together to voice full opinion, however. Fun thing that developers actually expect you to swap parts (arms, legs, torso, backpack) around by using magnets and provide enough in each set. So far, based on manual, arms looks like movable but legs are monopose. To be honest, I'm mostly interested in painting them, I don't even plan to play them. It's fairy new stuff, too, so time will tell if it will grow or fade into obscurity.

>>98810616I won't laugh at you for putting shit on backwards since everyone makes that mistake sometimes. I will mock you without mercy for not even attempting to fix any of those seams. seriously nigger at least fucking clean up the sprue gate.
>>98811951Hmm ye even with your considerable skill the pink doesn’t quite fit. Not sure what would though. More brown might go if the rest is going to be whiter but then it might be a bit of a boring mini colour wise
Made a little progress tinkering with it. Had to use another staff part because I ended up making the other one too short. I'm going to take a skull off these shields and use it as a belt piece and maybe cover the purity seal with the other one. Still a bit stuck on that.Someone in the last thread suggested adding the rings like on a monk's staff, which I'm leaning more towards since the Hexwraith flaming chain bits would be a bit much. But now I'm wondering if I should go with rings, clusters of round jingle bells, or just a couple of traditional shaped bells like the Skaven use. All of which I'll have to try sculpting myself.
>>98811980that pink is a mix of yellow pale and quinacridone magenta.
>>98812076That will have to wait since I guess I would need some kind of filler for that, classic method of using cement to melt and press edges didn't work.
>>98811946The infill on the footprint is pretty noticeable. When I did the exact same model I used sprue goo and then scribed matching scale pattern lines across the filled-in footprint.
>>98812142why didn't you fix the parts before gluing them together? now it will be harder to clean up the seams because the other parts are in the way.
>>98812225I admit it was not very smart.
>>98809793comfy set up, anon. hope you enjoyed the painting sessionthis week I finished my kasrkin for kt. they're the old metal models but I like them, and since I'm just gonna use them to play with me mates they're good enough. I'm thinking of painting some old metal marine vets for kt too
>>98812142>some kind of filleryou have sprues and plastic cement, it's not rocket science
>>98812344I still don't see the point of this when you can just use 2 part epoxy.
>>98812447a bottle of tamiya ultra thin is cheaper and easier to use than miliput.
I've got 10 of the new saurus warriors and maybe 14 of the skinny 6/7th edition warriors that I cant seem to sell. Problem is my armies are aos khorne and nurgle. I think the easiest conversion would be bloodletters but I run a mortals army in khorne. What do you guys think would be the easiest unit to convert them to?
>>98812447he implied he has no putty on hand so, it's a good enough readily available tooli also wouldn't use it over putty
>>98811153>>>98810074 (You)>A fellow patrician. Very nicely done mate. I like the purple accents. Are these air brushed? Thanks. As in the pink accents? No, standard brush painted. The yellow is airbrushed.
Spooky scary dwarfs!
Anyone have experience using staples, paperclips, or thin wire for making bits? I want to use a few staples to make rings and they'll need to be bent into essentially perfect circles. I'd planned on making them using greenstuff but at the thickness I need I think this is easier.
And my Halloween costume this year
I haven't bought brushes since last decade. It looks like Golden Maple has completely dominated the Amazon market for miniature brushes?I grabbed a pack because they're cheap and they seem... fine? Dunno, last pack of cheap acrylics I bought was from a craft store. These seem better than the brushes I started with, but not as good as my Army Painter natural fiber brushes.Unfortunately my Army Painter brushes didn't do well in storage for some reason.Anybody else using these?
>>98812815Not really, but I would wrap it around a towel and set it with glue. That could work well for rings
>>98812673>>98812540I wasn't talking about putty, I meant something like 5 minute epoxy or jb weld.
Miniatures were finished Tuesday, picture is from yesterday. This morning i realized i had missed and messed up a few things and went back to correct them (the buckle on Gandwarf's belt, the hair tie on stoic dude's braid, and finecast dwarf on the left doesn't have sharp features, those are part of his helmet) Currently working on the next batch of 6. This is half the size of my usual batches but it's nice completing miniatures in 10 days or so.
>>98812809Love these dwarfs, anon. You painted them really nicely. Where did you get them?
>>98812958Thank you! I dont like painting zombies so it was good practice. They're from oldschoolminiatures BTW. Great oldhammer style 28mm metal dorfs and he started doing up kev Adam's goblins. I like his halflings too
>>98812891I know WIP will execute me by firing squad but to me buying brushes always felt like a lottery. I used to buy very expensive brushes. From artist stuff (long before there were miniature specific brushes) to staples names of our hobby. What i found is that often it didn't matter how much i spent on brushes, it felt like luck. I'd buy multiple of the same brush at the same time from the same store and I'd have them behave completely differently from each other with one being fantastic for months and another splitting and curling within the first 6 models. And what can you realistically do at that point? It's not like i can return it to the store months later, so I'm now out 50+ dollars for a kolinski or WaN brush that barely got me through a single rank of troops. Then one day i bought one of those cheapo 10 CAD set for 15 or so brushes on amazon and fuck me I've been using their number 6 for the past 300 miniatures. Absolute beast of a brush, it does my basecoat, layering highlight and washes and it's still as good as when i used it the first time.Again, this is more luck than quality but i will absolutely take it. Once it does get past its prime I'll try my luck again with another set.
>>98812891yeah man. they dominate amazon because its 2 dollars a brush. the quality is fine, which means beginners and lazy intermediates who dont want to properly clean brushes can just replace them. its me, im the lazy
>>98812891>>98813072>>98813074There is nothing wrong with buying stacks of cheapo brushes and using the ones that are good by lottery, but if you ARE going to buy an expensive brush, do your research. You will find that the tail hairs of the winter coat of the male siberian red weasel from the tobol region are the ultimate desired acrylic/watercolour brush hairs and that a vanishingly small number of manufactures promise this specific material provenance.da Vinci of Germany is one such. But please, do NOT just take my word for it and do the research, in todays world when the wealth of human knowledge is at your fingertips there is no good excuse not to research nice things before you spend money on them.
Why are there so many canadians here all the time, what is going on?
>>98813173And from what do you make this inference?
>>98813183Somebody above is talking about canadian monopoly money. But canadian stuff comes up more than I would think it should in general.
>>98813189OH okay, so you didn't figure out that my repeated phrase of "figure it out" is the leaf equivalent of "go fuck yourself"?
>>98813196I'm confused. There is only 1 other instance of 'figure it out' in this thread, and it's like way up there and seems unrelated?I didn't say anything rude, why you heff be mad?
>>98813196>>98813217why do finnish people need to constantly announce they are from finland at every turn even if it has nothing to with anything
>>98813173 This is the internet, there are all kinds of people here. Your reaction baffles me
>>98813109>>98813074>>98813072Thanks, lottery might confirm my suspicions on brushes in general. God knows I found I prefer buying brushes in person to confirm they aren't lemons.Other question, in hindsight were the Army Painter brushes with the white triangular grips decent? I liked them a lot, but they haven't held up well over 6+ years. I think they averaged like 10$ a brush if you bought them single. Granted, I really didn't take care of them well. Oddly, The Psycho, smallest brush they make, is like mint despite how fragile and how much metallic detail put that to.
>>98812891>they're cheap and they seem... fine?If you're okay with how they work and the price doesn't offend you, they're fine. About half of my brushes these days are Golden Maple from the local store. I'd rather have a mediocre brush in good condition (that I can verify myself before buying) than a theoretically excellent brush that costs much more and may or may not arrive in good condition. And, as we both know, when a brush shits the bed (as all brushes eventually must), it doesn't feel nearly as bad when you know that its replacement will only cost a few dollars.>>98813072You've discovered one of the problems with expensive brushes. The great ones are expensive but great. The shit ones are expensive but shit. You pretty much know what you're getting when you purchase a well-pointed Taklon brush from a local source. The bristles didn't have to be harvested from a 3-year-old male weasel's ass that was born under a full moon in Buttfuckistan to work correctly. The plastic ones are from the same factory as the last brush's bristles were from, and they'll work exactly the same way.
Here's a really bad one. When my brushes start getting fucked up, with hairs sticking out in the wrong direction, I'll just take clippers and trim off the offending hairs and keep using the brush. This keeps the damn things in service a lot longer, but after removing a few hairs they work noticeably worse. Then I'll use them for basecoating for a long time, then I'll use them for stippling and applying effects paint, and only then will I throw away a brush. But then I want a nice brush for detail so I'm always finding myself buying a new brush while there's like twenty beaters sitting on my desk.
>>98813565I do the same thing.I order my brushes from an art supplier in england (I'm in canada), and I make one order every year-ish and order 3 new brushes, a large/medium/small. Then I cycle my older ones out and keep my new ones for finer detail.

it looked like a rickety piece of the shit fresh out of the box and on installation but a small articulated desk-mounted elbow/armrest is serious kit, on a similar level as a big magnifying glass to paint through in seriousness imopresuming your space is a little constrained to sit your elbow somewhere or if it could benefit by it somehow

>>98814204You provide your contact info to Santa (guy organising entire event), short preferences description and declaration if you prefer to stay within your region (mainly for separating EU and US, due to whole duty shit and such). When he gathers all willing participants, he randomly assign people to each other and observe. Contents, aside from minis/sprues (you can go wild here, average is something around 100€ worth but there are no set rules, you do what you can - some people throw things from their backlog as extra, some goes extremely generous, something you done yourself is a nice bonus) also contain sweets and a letter. In case someone gets grinched (rarely happens) people usually gather to make up for it with some emergency package. Oh and if you have tracking number, you usually notify Santa with it so he knows that things goes smoothly.Goal is to have fun, pretty much.
>>98814348Thx anon, I kinda followed the yearly santa stuff here over the years, but never actually got further involved in this. If it happens this year, I might join the round.
Is GW's Tone Pro Blending medium GW's retarder medium? If so then what is shade medium? Glaze medium? I'm not sure really. What is ArmyPainter's warpaints stabilizer really called?
Coming along nicelyHappy to turn this around from nothing to warband in less than 2 weeks
This is Igor. He serves a dodgy guy with a strange accent and a cape.
>>98812302Nice. The old metal kasrkin are still boss, I'm surprised you got such good looking sculpts though mine were always messy as hell
>>98813217in this general, not just this thread, you're complaining about us rakeboys being in the general.
>>98815181EE-gor or EYE-gor?
>>98814858Just going by the names shade medium should be for making stuff similar to GW's shade line, ie washes, and glaze medium should be suitable for making glazes. Blending medium does sound like it'll contain a decent bit of retarder, may nor may not also contain some of the solvent and binder as in the paints (aka general paint medium).>What is ArmyPainter's warpaints stabilizer really called? It's probably mostly solvents, maybe with a touch of binder in it, specifically chosen for their ability to keep the pigment from crashing out even at very high dilution ratios. I don't think there's any specific and widely used name for that, when I want to dilute stuff to hell and back for airbrushing translucent effects I just grab the "perkiest" thinner I have on hand that works with that specific paint.
>>98815257What? What kind of degenerate pronounces Igor eye-gor?

>>98815051visually it works, im thinking there must be a way to make the print lines read as scan-lines to give it a retro videogame finish.I still think generated image-model-fdm is a terrible choice.
>>98815181Genuinely incredible paint job anon, I'm very impressed
I think I am ready to get off the citadel paint plantation especially as I want to start freehanding. What do y'all recommend? Vallejo? Army painter? Also any advice on freehanding would be greatly appreciated. I know it takes lots of practice. I want to paint some mountains on an imperial knight kind of like pic related but I have never attempted anything this ambitious.
>>98815181Good eyes for once. People keep painting irises as if they're needle pricks.
>>98815555AK 3rd gen for regular acrylics. Better than GW in every aspect, very consistent, and they are like 50% cheaper. Vallejo for metallics. PA for whites and offwhites, though AK's are fine. I would generally stay away from AP, unless you really want their acrylic washes. These are pretty good.
All that is left is the base
>>98815557>>98815395Cheers. I'm happy how he came out. I think the fact his head was tilted helped me with the light. Here are two more I just finished. The left one is Igor and the right one is Igor. (They're related)
>>98815697those are greatwich models?
>>98815715Vae victis gravediggers. I'm going to use them for a Vampire mordheim warband
>>98815741>sensible, multicomponent 3dprints
>>98815787Always has been. 3D prints reign supreme since at least 2020.
>>98815822>3D prints reign supreme since at least 2020NTA but not really. For a long time most STLs always had that annoying issue of being too detailed even for 28mm and smaller scale form because I think most sculptors were using the medium as a portfolio of how good they can make models detailed.I think the problem is lessened now as most figured out "less is more" when it comes to miniature design. I'd love to know of some particular oldhammer STL styled creators. Apparently older miniatures kickstarter was all AI and I let myself get duped. I'm in grief. My day is ruined. I am saddened greatly. I hope it wasn't AI but murphy's law has been a thing proven right many times.
>>98815787I hope you don't print the individual bits though, the vae victis files are really nice for digital assembly then whole-piece printing.
>>98815822not really, 90% of 3dmodels are dogshit for physical models at this scale because they are designed as you would for videogames, and it's rare to find multicomponent onesalso layer lines 6 years ago weren't like they are now, and i can still see some on the foot of that old man
>>98815842i'm not the anon who printed those, but i find easier and more compelling to fiddle irl with parts than in cad, it also gives more options for kitbashing with actual boxed kits and gives you better freedon to minimize print issues
>>98815830>>98815860That is factually incorrect. That sentence makes zero sense because there isn't one category of STLs. There are as many different styles as there are creators. One of the most well known creator who basically copy the style of very old GW miniatures without much details and static poses (Monstrous Encounters) exists since 2018.If you think STLs are one way or another it simply means you're aware of only a fraction of what exists.Whatever style of minis you personally think look good, I guarantee you there are dozens of creators who have already made hundreds of them, exactly how you want. I know that because I have 2TB of STLs on my hard drive with every possible style. And by the way, I guarantee you they all look good when painted well. (I printed and painted over 450 of them)
>>98815874use something other than cad, i prefer meshmixer, but if you're doing actual sculpting rather than cutting and building from presculpted bits/minis then you'll want blender.using the hobby knife and hobby files can work, but you get a loss less precision out of them, whereas I just wanted a backpack type thing on a model I had already printed, so I loaded that bit in meshmixer, scaled and lined it up to the mini its going on and then boolean separated the exact contours of the minis back from the bit, so it will be an exact fit.
Got the arm shims on now to get the angle just right.
>>98815901>proper pack>no knee trimFuck yeah, if only they had made the truescale marine sculpts just like this to begin with.
>>98815889>One of the most well known creator who basically copy the style of very old GW miniatures without much details and static poses (Monstrous Encounters) exists since 2018.You can go even closer. Victoria Miniatures is a good example, since Victoria Lamb did a metric fuckton of old GW designs. So, a literal ex-GW designer, now making (excellent) STLs. Agreed otherwise, especially when it comes to Guard, the "amateur" designs mogg the FUCK out of anything GW produces. Good example might be Tinylegend. Both his Steel Guard and Kriegers are so much better it's not even funny.
>>98815915>steel legion*
>>98815900meshmixer is cad, blender is cad, fusion is cad..., i'm talking about digital vs touching the parts, it's not the same experience>>98815889my bad, you are right, if we talk in hyperboles everything is factually incorrect, like your very postmaybe it's not most of them anymore, but it's a lot, it's like videogames, when anyone can make one with barely any investment there will be lots of shit
>>98815915>Victoria Lamb did a metric fuckton of old GW designsI've never heard about that, what did she do for GW? I can't say I've ever seen anything that looks like her style sold by GW before
>>98815983fingers for manipulating 28mm scale is like trying to get dressed using fenceposts to handle your clothes. It was either that or fiddle with tweezers for a long time, but digital tools give perfect precision.
>>98815983I'm sorry to say you simply have no idea what you're talking about.
I might sound prickly but I have a feeling that Chinese loves to add parts for the sake of adding more parts. Like this leg section on the upper right - it could be easily done as single part on sprue, yet it consist of 5 separate elements that have to be cut, cleaned and glued.
>>98815901nice work so far.
>>98816031>for the sake of adding more partssounds more like a japanese thing. but jokes aside, i feel you. I got a custodian dreadnought recently and was devastated when i learnt the new plastic kit consists of 160 pieces instead of 30 like the old resin one.
>>98816005you don't need tweezers to see if an arm or a head looks better angled this or that way, blutack is a thing tooi'm not talking about moving an eyebrow, changing a face expression or changing the knot on a rope belt, i'm talking about the usual multipart kits, heads torso, arms, legs weapons..., ofc it's easier to sculpt detail if you have infinite zoom and control-z i'm not arguing thatbtw you don't use fingers to sculpt, you use tools, like you would use a grip stick and not fenceposts>>98816029good thing you are here to share the absolute truth of objective and subjective matters, pls go on
>>98816031gw is known for circlejerking about who could make the smallest piece in a sprue, so it might be an engineer thingit's not always stupid to have several pieces tho, steel molds are quite limited compared to rubber or silicon ones
>>98816062I specifically said NOT sculpting. your bluetack soplution is crap, the final product isn't going to have a mass of putty in the gap and your fallback of "multipart kit" only highlights what I said, you're refusing to even go the distance of hobby knife and files, so you've implicitly conceded the point I've been making, I can change the angle of an arm without cutting and I don't need to worry about the pauldron being in the way.it can just clip through, I can take the backpack off a model without having to absoultely destroy the torso bit it is attached to and waste something thats been paid for, I can put a hat on a head without worrying that my kjnife is going to fuck up the face with one tiny slip, etc... etc....And then when its all done the resulting model isn't a patchwork of superglue, 2 part epoxy, resin, plastic and/or metal bits, it's one solid piece.
>>98816072>>98816061Now that I take a closer look, it actually could work - if the legs could be rotated and glued in desired position. Except they are designed to get into one and only allowed position instead (theoretically they could be adjusted but would requiring cutting off and sanding guiding bits inside joints, which would open up new problems). Or maybe they planned for that before, this is actually crowdfounded project that sat there in "development hell" for whooping 7 years.
>>98816062>good thing you are here to share the absolute truth of objective and subjective matters, pls go onI did, along with another anon. We pointed out old style minis STLs have been made since at least 8 years. Yet you keep yapping like a retarded bitch for some reason.

>>98816117you may have missed it, my first post was actually praising those miniatures, but somehow in you mind those existing and being good somehow make it imposible for shit stls to have ever existed
>>98815907Using the old backpack is one of my favorite moves. Its slightly more petite than the mkX ones with creates a bit more negative space in the silhouette, which I like.I like the knee trim on ultramarines cause of the roman vibes it gives, but not on my dudes. >>98816047Thanks anon.
>>98816146What a ridiculous strawman. What a dumb bitch you are.
Broke my godhands cutting a piece of string...
>>98816274post pics
>>98816274They're only for miniature string.
>>98816274why would you use godhands for anything but the last cut of plastic?
>>98816274I heard those are super delicate, to the point where you're only supposed to use them on Bandai runner gates, and they're basically designed as precision instruments that try to make a single flush cut that's perfect but not to be used for anything else. If that's the case, they're really not what you want. GW, WGA, etc tend to have physically thicker runners that are also less precise, and you're likely to have to clean up flash with a hobby knife anyway. How often do you find yourself cutting jewelers chain, balsa wood, even thin pewter details? I find it's better to purchase cheap hobby clippers and use them as a beater, while keeping a knife for precision work.
>>98816318>>98816327>>98816328Let's wait for pictures of the said broken godhand.
>>98816108are the parts not meant to be movable? from the instructions it looks like parts 14 and 15 are supposed to slide along 18 while 11 and 26 rotates at the end and then 23 and 29 rotate around 14 and 15. although it seems to have keys on the rotation hubs and I can't tell what it wants you to cut though. is this supposed to be a knee joint?
>>98816317>>98816318I should have thought of that.>>98816327>>98816328The string is technically plastic if that counts.
>>98816368I am again reccomending the Barbasol side cutters, no hobby tax, nice clean cuts and durable because they are meant for handling literally tough-as-nails old man toenails for years on end.
>>98816368get yourself a pair of lindstrom 8140.
Squad all together now. Im still not sure I like the way the pauldrons sit on the middle guy, but I've been fiddling with them for 2 hours now so I need to let them sit.
>>98816368Fuck these fancy cutters, just get yourself 10 pairs of electronics wire clippers for the same price.
>>98816421God I love beakie helmets.Pauldrons on the middle guy looks fine btw
>>98816368don't twist when using a super thin piece of metal
>>98816555don't twist with any kind of pliers, you fuck up the joint if nothing else, I got a pair of needle nose pistol-grip pliers that were my absolute favourite for wiring because of the orientation and a guy borrows them for ONE MINUTE, ONE TIME and the fucking things now don't line up, pissed me off so fucking much.I did get the price of the tool out of him after that, but still.
>>98816362It appears as if this was the intention at the start but 11 actually does not rotate - it have "key" shape that locks it in position on 18 end, same for 23/29. Probably leftover from designing process, since, from what I found on the net, initially people behind the project wanted it to be more Gunpla-like but scaled down to minis scale and only found out later that this is not feasible (at least with their experience/skill level, Bandai being Bandai probably could pull that trick). And yeah, it was knee joint. In the end, legs are mono-pose but since they are supposed to be connected to torso by magnets, they could be rotated a bit.
>>98815697Alright, the last couple of Igors for the day. I'll probably tackle their master tomorrow.
I've been in the hobby for 7 years, yet I still can't get an entire unit painted. Building models and playing 40k are way more enjoyable than painting. Trying to force myself just turns it into a chore. Maybe I'm not cut out for this hobby.
>>98816555I didn't twist it, it was a 1.8mm piece of synthetic string. I assumed it would just cut it, I've done similar things with it before without issue.Oh well. I'll just get more, I don't really care.
>>98816654You gotta do what you like to do anon.
>>98816401 Right on. I got a pair of clippers like that from an overstock store for pretty cheap. Works pretty well but I'll usually leave a little bit of the sprue and trim with a hobby knife and/or sand down down later.
>>98816576>wanted it to be more Gunpla-like but scaled down to minis scale and only found out later that this is not feasibleI imagine they'd want to use something like Bandai's polycaps, which could drive up costs. They look like nice models and I think the magnetic parts are plenty for a tabletop game
>>98816704Well I'm in a catch 22 where I don't want to pay someone to get my army painted because it won't feel like it's really mine.

Of course blown up on a big monitor you see the imperfections but in person on the table the sculpts and colors outshine their flawsI am absolutely planning on refining and getting a resin printer soon though, want to keep getting better, I'm just figuring it out as I go, it's been less than a month since i started To answer your question, it all depends on how many iterations and how clearly you describe what you want. I think the brazen bull was at least 30 iterations of images, critiquing and fixing errors, changing pose, anatomy, proportions, finding what I wanted it to become, gpt for images, meshy for stl. It's just amazing to me and I'm stoked and excited to keep designing and learning and improving and painting
Thank god for arbitrage, I finally got the other kit I needed for my project. This is the concept for what I'm doing. Thoughts? Tips if you've built either kit? Keeping in mind I likely won't be using it in games.
Got all the Corsairs printed, and just finished desupporting and then basing all the flight stand units, taking a break before I get on to the rest.

>>98817490That looks really good.
>>98816576They probably couldn't hold up their own weight without glue, I imagine it's designed for you to be able to cut the pegs and pose the kit however you wish before gluing it.
>>98817489SweetYou're the eldar-anon that was sculpting a bunch of their own stuff, right?
>>98817607Yes, but with a caveat: I did not sculpt them, I have digitally remixed STL's sculpted by others, it's no different than converting a physical mini with existing bits when you get right down to it, it's just easier and more forgiving.
>>98817464god, it breaks my heart seeing all that effort put into those shit quality FDM printed minis.
>>98817648I've seen worse and at least anon is painting and posting minis, I do agree that the choice of printer is ass though.
>>98817464Nice anon, I have reservations about this technology but I'm happy for you. In >>98810246 I'd say the centipede in and the tall blue skelly guy in look the most obviously AI to me compared to the others (especially the troops at the front they're rad), but I couldn't even begin to tell you why or what specific thing is setting off my alarm bells.Right now I'm bashing my head against the blender wall (only done hard surface modelling before) for printing and I won't lie knowing this stuff is out there and getting better makes it hard to stay motivated despite whatever philosophical views I have about the value of learning artistic skills.
>>98817678>but I couldn't even begin to tell you why or what specific thing is setting off my alarm bellsNo coherency. They all have vaguely similar design elements, but no actual uniformity.

>>98817733Fair criticism, but that's a flaw with the creative human part not the process, I meant those specific 2 minis just "feel" more slop-esque than the others.
What's the best way to darken lines on a model without messing up metallic paints? Do I just do a plain basecoat with a similar color, then wash the entire model, then add the metallics? I intend to use a sponge wherever it reaches then touch up with a brush.

>>98815051>>98815363>>98817316>>98817464There's multiple methods you can use to almost entirely erase any trace of layer lines on FDM minis. This guy just doesn't care enough to do any of them. Depending on the type of filament you can use vapor exposure to erase layer lines, usually via acetone, or you can just do a pre-primer layer of a suitably thinned filler; I use sprue goo for mine.I'm personally aware that on my own printed minis even if I didn't address the lines most people wouldn't notice but I would know they're there and that would shit me to tears; some people simply don't care enough to put in the extra work no matter how much you tell them to do so.

>base coat with X colour >wash in recesses>recesses now look great>but there's an obvious difference in tone in the transition areasHow exactly do I solve this? funny how you can have dozens of pictures posted of models with undrilled barrels, unfilled seams, and dry sprayed primer and nobody calls it out, but you post a few fdm prints with layer lines and spergzilla awakens to lecture everyone about taking pride in your work.

Stick around.
>>98818936Nothing in particular, just give it a sort of generic sci-fi look, but not a super advanced, high-tech one. >>98819086I'm not that anon and you're not very convincing considering how much you seethe.>>98819089It's no surprise you're literally making up a headcanon about what ai workflow look like. Also not a surprise you think images are designed with an LLMs.Basically on his way to be the facebook boomer of current gen.
>>98819080>you're stuck painting overpriced space marines.Picrel is what I sculpted a few days ago. It's now fully rigged, too. I work with 3D for a living, and I have a resin printer in the next room. I also find it funny that you went from "I like my minis, they bring me joy" to doubling down with "I'm more creative than you with my slop". You are proving the point impressively well. AI won't fix your lack of creativity, nor it will ever correct your laziness and sloppiness. It will do the opposite, AND make you look an idiot while doing it.
>>98819121>u-u madlol, lmao evenyou didnt "design" shit no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise, faggot
>>98819131>the faggot who's mad at ai is a mediocre "artist"kek every timeI'm not the fdm printer guy. I'd never buy an fdm printer, they're retarded. I also don't value creativity at all, I find people who do to be pathetic. I value engineering and giving people tools so they can independently and easily make what they want. Which is the reason why you're able to make generic coom shit in the first place since I doubt you'd be able to make the same thing sculpting stone.
this is craftsperg isn't it
>>98819142Your point is also completely retarded, since these things are different fields. It's like asking a photographer to write you a song and then mald when he can't do it, you dumbass. >I value engineeringYou don't value shit, you are a stupid mongoloid who can't even see engineering for what it truly is - a creative venture.
>>98819158which one
>>98819121Holy shit how do you manage to be so wrong about literally everything? Your strawmen are all utterly pointless too. Nobody said anything about images.I don't have an issue with ai workflows either, I've trained models and run a few of my own as well as public ones locally. But what difference does that make? You're fucking retarded and getting all defensive because people think your FDM prints are shit.At least you finally got your ad hominem in. Good to use it as an example maybe it'll help you understand what it is instead of throwing words around. Words which you do not understand.

>>98819199Maybe if you cry harder the AI will go away
>>98819192Except that there are tons of different ways to generate STLs using a bunch of different models including prompt to 3D model. It shows that you have no creativity retard.
>>98819202Not part of the spergout but here's a super early wip of a tank man I started working on
>>98819218No one would prompt a 3D model to design an STL because you have very little control over the output. LLMs aren't involved either way. At best you'd ask for an image generating prompt from an LLMs.Diffusion models are a subcategory of image generating models.I bet you asked an AI for these info considering how incomplete they are and how you clearly haven't experienced them first hand, which I think is extremely cute, retard-kun.
>>98819246>>98819218>>98819204holy fucking shit shut the fuck up already and go back to your containment thread you double niggers

>>98819265You are not creating anything, you silly cockgobbler.
>>98819246Bit of a contradiction if the ai is too shit to tell me how ai works then ai is clearly not worth using to make images to turn into 3d models. But nevermind all that. You think diffusion models are a subcategory of image generating models, as if they're some sort of related family of image generation models, which YOU probably got from an ai. It's extremely funny.
>>98819104The Bren is a cool design and yeah top mounted magazines are a pretty uncommon sight but as-is, it's super, super noticeable for what it is. Sort of like how there's a bunch of kitbashed Star Wars movie guns from the original trilogy that people can look at and go "oh that's X with a bunch of greebles glued to it". You could hack apart the Bren gun bit and retain the interesting magazine mount orientation but depending on whether you have friends that do period hobbyist stuff they might really want the intact gun.The rest of the model can be greebled pretty effectively with plasticard to hide what it is, or at least make history nerds take a moment to figure out what it is underneath the extra stuff though.>>98819265>>98819269>>98819274Post fucking WIPs or get the fuck out you colossal retards. There's one degenerate in here trying to derail the thread and the lot of you are feeding the troll to the point that it's becoming a feeder fetish thread.I'm making a floating stone island. Next steps are to embed a bunch of jutting crystals out of the underside, grass tuft the dirt on the top, decorate with extra details like roots coming out the bottom and misc extra details. That's a tomorrow job.
>>98819232That's a nice red
>>98819269Ugh, I know but it's just that....I'm still going to create them regardless ok?>>98819274That's not what sub-category means retard-kun. I can't help but notice your repeated attempts at making strawmen so you can try and save face. That's so lame it's genuinely bumming me out.
How hard is this shit supposed to be out of the container? Mine is a few years old and when I tried to use it recently it felt like it was half cured and was a huge pain in the ass to even mix. It's been in a ziplock bag. It was even really hard to even try to fill gaps with it and I ended up not even using what I mixed because it was too hard to shape.
>>98819385You can get tamiya quick putty instead. Each strip is packed separately in airtight plastic, because Japs are not retards.
>>98819337>I will just keep shitting up the thread>why am I so oppressed
>>98819417just stop replying to the fucking shitposter, it really is that easy
>>98819385Unfortunately this kind of material can cure on its own even when kept in sealed container. I had a package of "superfine" Miliput (the white one) that I opened once to help my mother fix chipped bathtub layer (and yes, it worked so far) and after a year one of component was rock hard despite being kept separate and in sealed zipbag. And if both components are kept together like some retarded companies do, they will harden on their own as well. That's why they have usual year or so of usable time.
>>98819385It's supposed to be quite hard and sculpted with tools. It's not the most convenient to fill small gaps. Did you cut the middle part where both the green and yellow touch? because obviously that's going to be cured.>>98819417I don't feel oppressed at all. Wait, is that why you're so mad? kek
>>98819385>>98819393>>98819429Nippon got you covered. 4 individual strips per package, will last you for years.
>>98819385It should be pliable, like blu-tac or any comparable putty-like stuff. In the future don't buy the shit without a gap; the stuff like in your photo has like 5%-10% already fucked and on it's way to curing where the two parts meet. If you do end up getting the two part putty joined like that, immediately take it out of the packaging, flatten it with a rolling pin with some parchment paper over the top and then use a hobby knife to cut it on either side of the join as close as you can to the join and then use that stuff first. You can absolutely get green stuff/kneadatite properly separated though. I once bought like $50 of it online with it advertised as "with gap", delivery came and it was very much without gap so I got a full refund, pain in the ass.
On the topic of putties, what's a good liquid putty for gap filling? I'm imaging something I can apply out of a tube, spread onto a gap, and have it harden to a sandable consistency to fill gaps. I dislike using regular putty (greenstuff/milliput) for gap filling.
>>98819385Leave it to Army Painter to sell a fucking epoxy already connected. It's incredible how fucking retarded that shitass company is.
>>98819457It literally doesn't matter. I got a strip from a starting kit they made 8 years ago and it worked fine for at least 4 years. You just have to cut off a tiny middle part that's hard.
>>98819486Or, you could stop working around a shitty product like a tool, and buy something like >>98819442 instead. Naturally, Tamiya's not only better, it's also cheaper.
>>98819486ntab it does matter, why wouldn't they just put 2 seperate strips so you don't have to cut off the cured part for no reason at all? That's terrible fucking design
>>98819457gs has been sold connected for longer that AP has existed, but yeah it's retardedit was never meant to be in storage for long because it was not meant to be used little by little to make little toys
>>98819504There's no work around, you just cut off a small part while you cut off your strip. That's dumb as fuck to pretend there's any kind of effort or inconvenience in doing that.I personally don't buy either but if I wanted to sculpt stuff I would just search for sculpting epoxy, which will most likely be even cheaper than tamiya because there's always a big markup for hobby products since they're made for retards.>>98819507That's just how it's made and packaged. Army Painter is just reselling it. I wager it is more recognizable that way by the average hobbyist.
>>98819546>just cut away chunk of epoxy you bought because the manufacturer/reseller can't be assed to provide sensible packaging>why?>because they are packaged that way, duhThis is a mental cuckoldry on par with defending GW pots.
>>98819561It's not a chunk, it's tiniest of sliver. You're being a drama queen. And I told you I don't buy this shit. I don't buy any hobby product except for the paints, it's all "cuckoldry" shit as you call it. Including Tamiya products.
>>98819577Why are you defending a shit design that's making you do retarded shit, anon? Or is it because someone attacked Your Brand(tm)?
>>98819598holy autism
Greenstuff is made an packaged like this for years. I had a big package from GF9 wich were two seperate rolls, but I did not even get to Finnish that completely. Over time every epoxy dries out, I threw out the last cm orso because the yellow part had become to rubbery. it would probably still have worked but mixing it like that is shitty and it won't be usefull for small detail stuff.
need a matt varnish, but otherwise I think I'll call them done.
>>98819745the yellow part creates a 'cured' crust over time that won't mix, you can still scrape the insides and use it fine, it won't be as soft as fresh but it works and leaves no chunks, the blue part also becomes harder and harder but doesn't form unmixable chunks
>>98819577NTA but you admit you don't buy this shit and then claim to have knowledge about it. As someone that's worked with kneadatite/greenstuff etc from many brands, you lose 5% of it out of the gate; the point at which the epoxy is laid against each other part-cures but improperly. If you bother to cut it out and try very, very hard to get use out of it, it's still improperly cured no matter what. Half the time I have to just bin whatever I've tried to sculpt out of it and consign it to 'misc details/junk filler'.Two part epoxies should be separate and kneadatite making it an 'accepted tradition' is fucking cancer. Thank christ I can just chargeback refunds from any company that sells me the conjoined stuff when it's marketed as being separated.
>>98819797I just buy smaller portions these days and they last me forever and are usually gone before it goes bad. I just need to keep attention to if what I have is still good.
A 6" pack of green stuff from greenstuff world or army painter is €10,- unless you are doing major kitbashes and resculpts that is going to last longer than most people are in this hobby and then half of it will still be left.Buying 100's of money's worth of toy soldiers and then complaining there is some waste on a consumable...
>>98819919You are missing the point. It's simply a nonsensical, wasteful way of packaging, and you can get it cheaper, with sensible packaging, elsewhere. Why is this such a difficult concept to grasp.
>>98819943you don't understand you can't criticise heckin hobby companies, theyre our friends!
>>98819849>NTA but you admit you don't buy this shit and then claim to have knowledge about it.I wish retarded tourists had the ability to follow a conversation on 4chan. It's really not that hard.
>>98818763Watercolor works too but cleans up with plain water. Daniel Smith makes a transparent black (jane's black) which works great as a base to mix other transparents colors into.
>>98818674>I can't exactly mix it with the wash to create a gradientwhy not?
>>98820031I unno cause the wash is all watery and then base paint is super thick, so I'd end up with a weird mix consistency wise which is not ideal for a 50/50 mixI think
>>98820098NTA, but add paint to the wash, and then add thinner. Mix until required consistency. You can also mix washes.
>>98820111Big boy question, but while we're on the subject how the fuck do you mix paint properly? If I use a brush like 90% of it gets absorbed into it (and then eventually washed away when I clean it up because I'm not putting a big sopping mess of a brush on the mini itself since I'd have no guarantee the paint is mixed there)Do you like put two beads of paint next to each other and kinda push them into each other?
>>98820135I mix my paints with a silicone sculpting tool. Otherwise, just put paint A on the palette/whatever, then put paint B into it, and mix. You can also put paint A and paint B next to each other, and only mix them partially - if you want to do gradients and shit. >I'm not putting a big sopping mess of a brush on the mini itself since I'd have no guarantee the paint is mixed there)Mix the paint, clean your brush, dry the brush with a paper towel or something, then dip it into mixed paint, then paint.
>>98820135use the tip of the handle of your brush dumdum
>>98809793Finished The white looks a lot cleaner to the eye than it comes across in this picture.
>>98819943I get the point but you are making a problem of something that is not. If you use a lot, get something like pic and also other material than greenstuff only so you can mix. But for some anon building an army there is nothing wrong with a basic strip off the stuff. >But I can get three times as much if I get it from Brand whatever for the same price. Still a waste if you only use a portion of it before it goes bad/quit the hobby before it is used up.
>>98820271But why should I buy green stuff when there's Tamiya Quick?
>>98820351For me at least because that was used for miniatures when I started the hobby. Not sure how proliferant it is today but see it as onboarding drug for sculping. The first time doing or buying something is always awkward/to expensive, then we learn. These days I use all kinds, milliput for example is the most nasty material on its own but mixed with some GS it's quite nice.
Female faces are fucking impossible to make look goodIt doesn't help that like everyone but Kingdom Death sculpts them with 'statuesque' cheek and jawbones
The entire Corsair team is now ready to start painting.
>>98820271>if you don't like the putty touching, buy this putty where it's touching
>>98820440Da hell is that material
>>98820181holy shit Picasso over here>>98820158>Mix the paint, clean your brushDoing that wastes a lot of paint however cause your brush ends assorbing up a whole lot of shit from both puddlesBut the other anon's suggestion makes the most sense
>>98820265>FinishedMaybe it's just the photo, but the base looks like you only put one coat of paint on the rocks and called it done. What about washing them with something darker and maybe edge highlighting (or at least drybrushing for a quick-and-dirty)?I joined Warhammer+ too late to get my hands on this model, but I'm sure I can pick one up on the secondary market to add the the Panzee army that I'll never get around to.Putting this model in the lower right "anchor" position for next thread's collage.
>>98820525>PicassoI'm-a gonna break-a you down, into the leetle cubes!
>>98820525>Doing that wastes a lot of paint however cause your brush ends assorbing up a whole lot of shit from both puddlesStop overthinking it.
>>98820506Diverent use cases, anon. Assuming you are not baiting and really don't get it, sometimes a thing is good enough. Yes there will always be better/cheaper/more on the package products, but if you do some occasional gapfilling en small conversions do you really need to do a study for the best, most optimal and cheap material to use? No, you get a strip of Green Stuff from your flags and it will work and it will last and you never give it a second thought. GS is not even a bad material also, I don't get the hate.
>>98820405Alright, so no rational reason whatsoever. >>98820615>Diverent use cases, anon. You have virtually no idea what the fuck are you talking about.
>>98820527You have a point. I am going to wash and maybe dry brush the base but that cracking texture paint takes about 5 hours to dry and I was excited to finish / photograph him in daylight. Love the old hammer vibes. Nothing will ever beat a green flock gaming table. Although the blood angels seem a bit unfussed about the zenos in their midst >>98820432Love the freckles. Certainly more dwarf vibes than pic related
Never in all my years have i derailed a thread like this...yall r gonna love my next print...Anyway been doing research into resin i think i will get the Elegoo Saturn 4 ultra 16kResin bros, what say you?!
>>98820659Anon, of you use something in bulk you want it cheap and with the least amount of waste so you get the rolls. It's like if you occasionally use Mayo, yes you can buy a 5 liter bucket wholesale for the same price as a bottle at the grocery store but do you Need 5 liter of mayo? >>98820659Maybe, lol. But I still use it, as is or in combination with other materials, like I said it is not bad. Was it used in the first place because GS masters were best for making the rubber spin cast moulds or were did it even originate from?
>>98820720wrong thread, faggot>>98722410>>98722410>>98722410go there and stay gone
>>98820724>Maybe, lol. It's rather obvious at this point. Excellent Dunning–Kruger.>you get the rolls. No, I get Tamiya Quick which is cheaper, works just as well, you can sand it, and it's packaged in a way there's no waste.
>>98820732Me printing and painting minis is very on topicThis was my first ever 3d print like 3 weeks ago and a lil kitbash i did while still shackled to gw
>>98820777Shut the fuck up and go back to your containment.
>>98820509Clear printer resin, so need uv on it to photograph... better than not.
>>98820762>If you use something a lot you need to get something else.Right, makes sense.>Dunning–Kruger.How? I don't even promote GS as the best and only material. Just when you start with something you do some research and then go with what is easily available, wich was GS at that time. Games Workshop Green stuff even, to make you seeth some more.
>>98820525>>98820538Pablo Picasso was never called an "asshole".https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI-gt7GrNAANew thread:>>98820836>>98820836>>98820836
>>98819442>>98820351How is the Tamiya quick compared to the properties of greenstuff or millput? I know there's some significant differences between GS and MP, like how GS doesn't sand very well once cured. I have milliput that's newer but I've never used it so I don't know how good it is for sculpting tiny bits and details.
>>98820871It's a bit softer and easier to spread compared to GS, which is more elastic/stretchy. It cures a bit faster, and when fully cured, it's harder than GS. The biggest thing is how well you can sand it. You can sand it to a perfectly smooth finish if you want. It's exactly the opposite of what the mong above claims - Tamiya is much better for gap filling and for smoothing transitions between parts, ie.: basic, quick activities. For more complex sculpting (like making your own minis, or larger, more complex parts), I would say GS edges it a bit, but it's not really a dramatic difference. Japs pretty much use it exclusively even for pretty complex shit. Anyway, you can mix them all together. A lot of people mix miliput + Tamiya Quick with great success.
>>98820927I never said a bad word about your beloved Nipponese epoxy, anon. I said I dislike raw Milliput but like you say, just mix it with your favourite putty to make it less nasty.
>>98820098so you are diluting the paint with the wash, you can dilute it a bit more with water and you have a glaze of the color you need
>>98818927Never heard of Airfix before. How do they measure up when it comes to building and parts quality on a scale between complete dogshit (Revell) and absolute beauties (Tamiya)
>>98824810Revell-level, possibly worse.
