"How do I kill terminators" is the wrong question. You're not supposed to kill them. Your opponent spent 390 points on 10 assault termines before characters, another 100 on a fancy character. The correct question is "how do I tarpit them for a couple turns and neutralize 1/4th of my opponent's army so I can out score him?". Which is actually a much, much easier question.A lot of the points value cost of termies is in the fact that they're difficult to kill. So you're playing into their hands by warping your play or listbuilding around killing them. Make his expensive unit points inefficient by not killing them. Don't play the game he wants you to play. Make all those points he spent on defensive stat lines wasted by not even engaging with them. Park something that just hard to kill in front of them.Correctly using termies is the other way around. It's about not getting tarpit-ed and getting your points back or making them uncontested score the central objective for the entire game.

>>98819254No. I know how big they are. I just don't think its a big enough difference to matter.Plus they'd still fit on the correct size bases. All I mean is don't let a lack of pattern specific rules stop you running minis you like when the primary difference is just aesthetics. All the terminator patterns are close enough to eachother and 40ks rules are loose enough that any terminator works as a terminator (and same for dreadnoughts)
Why would a terminator dude not wear his helmet
>>98819297Because he wants to live.
>>98819297They have a force field. But mostly, it makes character minis look cool.
>>98819297Idk I think helmets look cool, all my dudes have helmets.
>>98819241I hope they don't ramp up those special effects going forward
>>98819304>But mostly, it makes character minis look cool.Helmet off marines already look bad but helmet off terminators look ESPECIALLY bad because it highlights how stupid the proportions actually are and loses the intimidating gorilla look.
>>98819312If thats your taste sure. Then just give yours helmets. The whole point imof warhammer is to make your minis fit your tastes.
I hate how people expect you to own the app these days, and act like the app is infalliblei'm not downloading that shit
>>98819297>Why would a terminator dude not wear his helmetAs soon as he is identifiable, he's effectively invincible.
>>98819311>going forwardAnon SCTMG has no 'forward', the game is already floundering.
>>98819321Missed you will not be.
>>98819321Same but specifically referring to literally every single aspect of life because literally fucking everything is trying to force you onto a single use app now.
>>98819330qrd?
>>98819332I had to download an app to set my lightbulb to cool lightning as it was the only one B&Q has in stock that had cool lighting
>>98819330They look like they've got a solid release schedule, surely it's not THAT bad, is it?
>>98819331sorry but i'm not downloading an app that all it does is allows me to build ONE (single, uno) list that requires me to purchase a book to buildyou even have people demand GW just sell codex codes for the rules because its very clear they don't give a fuck about the actual lore or anything
Anybody have a link for the Berzerker animation?
To any guardfags with the RSV Centaur, when did you stop building to prime the vehicle for painting? Right now I have the truck bed with one wall, and didn’t glue in the back ramp/other wall. Should I finish assembly minus those two pieces and then prime/paint everything?
>>98819330theyd make for good kitbash kit
>>98819321Your loss, the app is unironically good quality.
How do you guys stay motivated to make your army? It feels like it’s never going to end…
>>98819399I take long breaks
>>98819399Have games with friends where some of your units are just primed
>>98819395Can you look at several of your datasheets at once and scroll through them like newrecruit's fancy export?
>>98819321Its a shame that war organ is gone now. I dont mind warmind but its not the same
>>98819341The Starcraft TTG had an incredibly botched launch with massive delays and way too small of a launch roster for a game of that scale. Archon Studios can't plan their shipping worth shit and there are STILL delays months after the initial 'launch'. On top of that Starcraft is a dead franchise withoutban interesting setting, so nobody really cared in the first place.>>98819362It was already changed from what they had before and now there's been delays and cancellations of planned units. The schedule means nothing since Archon doesn't actually know what they're doing. They aimed way too high for their capabilities and used a dead franchise to do it.
>>98819399Take breaksA little side project to just paint different colours and try different things is a nice palette cleanser, even a single mini.Engage with the lore, novels if its a canon faction. Maybe dabble in writing your own lore for /yourdudes/Get some games in with your half done army, against someone elses finished army.
>>98818926Thats obscene
>>98819434I can't tell how much of your post is driven by facts and how much of it comes from a console-wars-type of tribalism here. But it IS weird that warhammer has such an unbreakable a chokehold on normie wargaming, it can't be just setting because aos has terrible or nonexistent reputation as a setting and it still dominates the fantasy wargaming scene.
Do the Sisters of Battle have to keep re-dying their hair or is it some kind of future-dye that lasts forever? Will a Sister cut off from Imperial supply lines eventually regrow her original hair color?
>>98819499you know white hair sisters is just a fanart meme, right?
>>98819506uhhhhhhhhhhh
>>98819434This looks cheap and might be cool for putting on objectives, thanksLooking up reviews of the modular cathedral terrain now
>>98819506Why would you say something so obviously wrong so confidently? It's a specific subfaction thing, sure, but it's also their main advertised subfaction
>>98819175I think the rules are pretty nice but there's absolutely nothing to talk about. Most teams run 90% the same with little variance outside of noteable exceptions and it takes fucking forever for any more to come out. Some of the books include nice campaign style rules and parts of the game seem to want camapign style rules but there's a massive campaign shaped hole in the whole thing. It feels anemic to older editions despite running smoother.
>>98819506Retard
>>98819434Given what wargamers put up with, is Starcraft's situation really that bad? GW's mistakes over the past while would probably be several final nails in the coffin for other franchises.
>>98819513GW leaned into it for marketing purposes, but it's not part of the lore at all. Sisters have their natural hair colours. The white hair only thing came from fan artists.
>>98819547>d-doesn't count
>>98819418Dunno but I stopped using Newrecruit because it was much slower and doesn't have the full rules
>>98819555If you want an official explanation for when they dye their hair there isn't one, because canonically they don't.
>>98819539The game has zero presence except for paid battle report ads or people making fun of it because why on Earth would someone put out a Starcraft tabletop game over ten years after the disaster that was SC2. The prices are nearly GW for models that are okay at best. It has no proper way of sticking out as the setting is dead (and was uninteresting to begin with) and the gameplay is passable at best, which is where other games like Marvel, SW Legion, Battletech, and Trench Crusade manage to make a niche for themselves.Nobody wanted or was asking for new Starcraft content, and if they had been it wouldn't have been for a tabletop game.
>>98819560Theres a new starcraft announced but it's a few years away, maybe it'll be built up for when it releasesI don't care for blizzard stuff though
>>98819506Stupid fuck.
>>98819560Maybe not totally indicative but it's caught on at my LGS pretty well but I think it's because of the competitive slant they're chasing and a lot of the people at my LGS are definitely old enough to have played a bunch of Starcraft years back. Game feels way easier to get into than 40k at the moment too.
Well, time to make another primarch return
>>98819580Notice when people make these type of posts they never say>time for a new xenos release
>>98819560I bought a siege tank model because I like the unit in SC2 I don’t plan to play it in person I just wanted it on my desk to display. I also have been playing SC2 since release and same thing with WC3. Multiplayer in SC2 is fine right now but it’s a dead game, the story sucked but nobody plays StarCraft for the story.
>>98819559>because canonically they don't.Is the art in the official codexes not canon? Or are you arguing that white is their natural hair color?
>>98819506Great bait, mate.
>>98819453Warhammer remains on top by way of seniority and setting. Anyone who looks at tabletop games will almost instantly be met with Warhammer as the big face of the hobby. As such they'll gravitate towards it as the game also has a wide variety of factions across both Sci-Fi and Fantady settings, and since Warhammer is the biggest name they'll assume EVERY other game in the hobby operates on the same scale and price. This is in turn dissuades them from really looking and getting into other wargames.
>>98819580well Perturabo soon
>>98819585>Nobody cares about xenosShocking, I know.
>>98819594With Warhammer getting popular with normies it’s now time for them to stop price increases and start a media blitz with a new primarch and then once all the normies over the next 5 years get really into Warhammer start buying models etc then they start price increases once again but GW execs are stupid.
>>98819580The Armageddon box really didn't give enough for Marine Players to care about it and there's been a notable drought in good new Marine units to invest in. AoS has also been doing laughably bad while TOW is treading water.Releasing Dorn, Russ, or Sanguinius can turn this around in an instant.
>>98819580It's gonna bounce back
>>98819611>SanguiniusIsn't he dead-dead?
>>98819580New demon Peter turbo will save this shitty edition.
>>98819612Not if the mutants at GW don’t release codices in a timely manner and keep releasing laqwisha dwarves and femstodes.
>>98819547No, it didn't.
>>98819628Never been more profitable
With how much stock is in the hands of retailers you can't really just declare lower prices can you?Retailers bought at a percentage of msrp they'll be pissed if that margin suddenly shrinks
>>98819175Ignorance. Projection. Tourneyfags giving it a bad reputation. Retards that do not understand that teams no longer part of the tournaments roster doesn't mean they are suddenly not playable.KT has unironically the best gameplay of all current 40k themed games, and it's pretty comfy if you play it with friends, or the PvE modes.
>>98819623He's still floating around in the warp. GW just love money too much to actually kill him for good.
>>98819623No. His soul is currently in two parts, with his Wrathful side haunting the Vengeful Spirit (bit ironic) while his Noble side is said to be part of the Sanguinor. Also none of the Primarchs are perma-dead, they're warp entities. Even Horus is still alive, and the Emperor is awaiting his return.
>>98819580The Age of Konflict '47 has arrived.
>>98819580Stock prices are not reality. Some players tried to inflate GW stock and then short it.But the company is fine and earning lots of money, so they're going nowhere.
>>98819175I need to try the OG KT
>>98819624Demolisher style peter turbo sperg with 20+ wounds a 2+4++5+++ but wait here comes rogal dork off the top rope as a dreadnought with the same statline for the loyalist version. It’s a primarchapalooza!!! (Sold out Online) and in person for 2 years plus stock goes through the roof.
>>98819623Yes>>98819642Wrong. All your statements are wrong. Retarded memelore by morons without reading comprehension or parroting clickbaity loretubers
>>98819642>Even Horus is still aliveNo, he's dead-dead-DEAD, literally obliterated from reality and the Warp by the Emperor's rock-knife
>>98819623Primarchs ranked in terms of deadness:>Horus reduced to atoms both spiritually and physically >Sanguinius extra dead but half of him is in Mephiston? maybe? >Dorn was very dead but has become less dead over the years (GW knows they can make money off templarfags and fist paypiggies)>Khan is missing>Leman also missing >Corvus is a bird in the warp >Vulkan went to get milk after War of the Beast (if that's even still canon)>Alpharius/Omegon both dead? The rest are demons currently either jobbing or doing whatever until the hacks at BL remember they exist.
>>98819642>with his Wrathful side haunting the Vengeful SpiritThis lore piece is outdated so bad.
>>98819657Correct. Morons do not understand that Big E wasn't talking to Horus, he was talking to the blade, and that it's a reference to another HH story about athames.
>>98819657Didn't that new HH book explicitly state that Horus's soul wasn't totally obliterated? I think it got retconned.
>>98819633Currently yes but when the spergs turn on something in significant enough numbers you’re destroying your own market and making your competitors a lot of money for no reason. The setting can easily hold the spergs attention and is currently grim derp enough for normies without getting political division involved.
>>98819654>>98819657>Theycdidn't read The End And The DeathThe Emperor managed to trick Horus into pushing out the Chaos Gods' influence and it gave him a moment of lucidity for what he had done before the Emperor struck him down, with the Emperor directly stating that he would wait for Horus' return.

>>98819434>and way too small of a launch roster for a game of that scale.Seen plenty of battle reports everything seems fine. Table is not overbloated with models to the point where you cannot move anywhere but forward.>withoutban???
>>98819681Happy to be wrong but man I bet they would love to bring that guy back for some kind of hamhanded storytelling.
>>98819679>with the Emperor directly stating that he would wait for Horus' return.Wrong.He wasn't talking to Horus. He was talking to the blade. Read Athame (Short Story) by John French if you want to truly understand the reference.
>>98819623>Isn't he dead-dead?When did that ever stop GW?
>>98819684Alpharius and Alpha legion are kind a stupid.
>>98819660>>Horus reduced to atoms both spiritually and physicallyThanks to End and the Death part 3 we know this is false.Horus is going to return. >>98819701Wrong, see >>98819689Stop spreading memelore
>>98819660>>Dorn was very dead but has become less dead over the years (GW knows they can make money off templarfags and fist paypiggies)You fellas think a primarch dreadnought would sell more or less than just regular dorn returned?

>>98819709It's better be a fancy dreadnought with the size of a knight.
>>98819714>Emperor was 100% just talking to Horus in that scene.Wrong. Read it again, then read the Athame short story. EatD is trash, and that scene sucks. But not because it retcons Horus sould being destroyed, but because Abnett did it on purpose to stirr up shit in social media while having plausible deniability. And you fell for it.
>>98819642>No. His soul is currently in two parts, with his Wrathful side haunting the Vengeful Spirit (bit ironic) while his Noble side is said to be part of the Sanguinor. Also none of the Primarchs are perma-dead, they're warp entities. >>98819660>>Corvus is a bird in the warpI love this fucking plot point. Corax has been around all this time, but instead of doing something public, he's basically been chasing Lorgar for over ten thousand years, he's that pissed off about it.
>>98819744Wrong. Memelore.
>>98819736>TFW when I am only on mark of Calth because I started 15 years late on reading the novelsIt’s really rough going from angel exterminatus and betrayer which are fantastic and back to an anthology with no narrative stakes.
>>98819499It actually varies. Conventionally, they do re-dye it when their roots grow out. The Order of Our Martyred Lady dye their hair white to honor Alicia Dominica, the first SoB and bodyguard of the trio who had an audience with Emps that bleached their hair white. But a few of them do have religious experiences that bleach their hair white, just like Dominica did. There are stories where people with other hair colors had naturally (or...unnaturally) white hair after a certain trial or experience.Other Orders have different hair colors, usually for the same reason: honoring an important Saint or founder. People do this in real life in various ways, not always as obvious as dying hair. Naming your kid a certain name in the hopes they have traits of the person you're naming them after, dressing like a certain cultural icon in the hopes you are associated with them, picking up speech or behavior patterns, all kinds of ways.
>>98819732I want the sensei and the illuminaughty, just to fuck with everything regarding perpetuals, primarchs, and the cabal.
>>98819760>mark of CalthYou can skip all the Calth war stories if you don't like them. The only ones necessary for the metaplot are those centered around the fucking Perpetuals. Which sucks, but it can't be helped
>>98819646I don't think most people realise that GW has an absolutely bonkers price-to-earnings ratio of like 20-30x, the stock is almost certainly majorly overvalued.

>>98819744Well stated, I appreciate your knowledge on the subject and look forward to more Primarchs returning.
>>98819660Alpharius is easiest of them all to bring back what with the whole army of body doubles thing, all they have to do is simply say that those recorded instances of Alpharius being killed were actually some poor juiced up legionary getting smoked by whatever loyalist primarch.
>>98819805permanent
>>98819805>Two retards fighting.jpg
>>98819660the only deadness that matters is whether their respective legions are important enough to get a model range.russ, sanguinius(nor), and dorn will return because space wolves, blood angels and black templars are ranges gw can use a centerpiece to drive further sales for.of the other legions only the salamanders have any hope of getting fleshed out into another marine army with its own units, and thus primarch, and only because salamanders got popular with wholesome reddit memes.on the chaos side the never ever are alphomegon, curze, and horus, and the latter only because abby needs to get wanked.technically lorgar too would never have a range of its own, but undivided models are basically better themed for word bearers than abbadon anyway so he might get done just because in the far future.
>>98819803>>98819810Alpharius has always been in plain sigh in 40k. Unless GW chickens out, he's definitely Cypher.
>>98819793Price-to-earnings is the market cap vs. the company's overall yearly income ya dingus.
>>98819815Even without the dedicated model ranges each Primarch alone is more popular than the entire Xenos range of factions. They're all coming back, it's just a matter of time.

>>98819824Omegon, obviously.
>>98819813More like one retard and a professor trying to teach him a lesson fighting
>>98819831Yeah unfortunately Angron didn't manage to teach that retard Russ anything because he's just too fucking stupid
>>98819824The original pre-HH Cypher was a regular DA that was murdered and replaced by a pro-Luther DA librarian.Neither match the looks, powers, knowledge, and behaviour of the 40k Cypher. So IMO he was also killed and replaced by Alpharius/Omegon at some point during the Scouring
>>98819819>"Fool Guilliman, all this time you've thought it was I, Cato Sicarius, but it was actually I, Alpharius!"
>>98819803they could just have one of the ferrus onaholes that fulgrim keeps making escape
>>98819846None of the Ferrus clones had his soul, so they're were just meatbags without the real juice that makes a Primarch a Primarch.Remember the difference between the Horus and Fulgrims clones
>>98819831Wolf jobber tries to teach nail crybaby that winning isn’t everything. Wolf Jobber duels nail crybaby, jobber goes down and is at the mercy of nail crybaby. Crybaby says he has won the duel so he is the better one, Jobber says all my sons will kill you so did you really win, nail fail says yes because your pups are surrounded by my nail babies. Then they both retreat. What did we learn? That Wolf jobber and nail crybaby both suck.
>>98819823that doesn't seem to be the case, nothe more primarchs you bring back the smaller the returns in terms of sales because they compete with each other for attention, which is why they only make sense as centerpieces for specific ranges since separate ranges would create a division and competition in player base regardless xenos, very much by design, almost don't have that problem at all, so any xenos release for a specific xenos faction will be bought by all the collectors of said faction, regardless of their choice of subfaction for themto argue that individual marine subfactions are still stronger than xenos faction this way is just pure delusion the kind that's paraded around only by people banned from fridges there's a reason why some marine factions like iron hands, white scars and raven guard get jack shit while gw throws money to make stuff like votann, it's not because they have those factions or have someone with a gun at their head forcing them to make nusquats, it's because they know expanding those marines isn't going to pay off compared to just sticking to making generic marines and stuff for the already established subranges
Angry Ron was kinda mistreated by the big-EOut of all the bad dad decisions he made, the worst was not taking Ron’s problem seriously enough
>>98819851but doesn't fulgrim not have fulgrim's soul? or did he break out of the wack ass mirror
>>98819776Honestly, unless GW absolutely fumbles the warhammer IP the company won't go bankrupt. They're pretty lucky that licensing out to videogame companies has paid off because it's what's keeping them relevant in the mainstream who aren't interested in the minis or books. Fan content also helps. The Astartes fan animation alone put more eyes on 40k then any animation the company has ever made, it's why I hope they don't fuck up Astartes 2 after they hired the guy that made it.
>>98819846Ferrus coming back and seeing what his sons have become (again) and them getting mogged by his presence into an existential death spiral could be really interesting if the Iron Hands had more lore presence than the Guymer books and Wrath of Iron, but
I kinda like reading community articles but now that we're not getting anything for 40k until next year, it's just going to be AoS/Paints and other shit that I don't care about.
>>98819867Angry Ron was already terminally stupid before the emperor arrived. Nothing could be done, this was revealed in betrayer when Lotara interrogated the arch magos who did the exploratory surgery.
>>98819869Nobody knows, not even the writers
>>98819854If you asked the average 40l fan to name every Primarch they'd do it in less than 30 seconds. If you asked them to name every Phoenix Lord they'd think for a second and then say the only one they know is Yvraine. If you asked them to name Commander Puretide's students they'd ask what Chapter he's from.If you asked them to name three Necron Dynasties they'd say "Trazyn's, Orikan's, and the Silent King's".And if you asked them to name a single Ork Warboss who isn't Ghaz, some of them MIGHT say Nazdreg.
I think trying to redeem traitor primarchs by making the emperor retarded or giving them daddy/mommy issue was worse than what the SW prequels did.The Emperor can be a self-serving conqueror AND Angron can be a murder-fueled maniac.40k is space fantasy, the same kind of fantasy about evil lich wizards plaguing an entire land or dungeons full of floating eye demons vaporizing you with lightning. So why the fuck do we have to appeal to the kind soap opera niggers who obsess over specific personalities & characters? It was always about the world and setting, not whatever retarded petty shit some fuckass is grieving over.I suppose some people do related to being a mentally ill parent-obsessed deflecting mess.
>>98819903>And if you asked them to name a single Ork Warboss who isn't Ghaz, some of them MIGHT say Nazdreg.I would expect Gorgutz before Nazdreg.
>>98819838>>98819853Russ is routinely mentioned to be one of the smarter Primarchs and he keeps his intellect hidden so that others underestimate him, even Malcador acknowledges this during their chess games. You’d know that if you weren’t an ugly illiterate baboon.
>>98819903that's the problem, you think the average 40k fan of today matters when the waters have been muddied by secondaries and tertiaries they don't matter and you have lost touch with the hobby
>>98819889That’s true, I meant more that the big emprah needed to use the extra soft retard gloves when dealing with him. If big-e gave him more attention and tried to help him more, he may not have fallen to chaos (as easily)None of the other primarchs could have helped him, or would bother to help him. (maybe Vulcan or Sanguinius could, but Ron probably wouldn’t listen)

>>98819923pre-existing customers have always been and will always be gw's main target despite numerous attempts to get new blood into the hobby that have more often than not only served to make the hobby worse.gw knows it, everyone knows it, you don't accept it, secondaries don't buy shit, that's why votann sell and raven guards don't.
>>98819930No, GW knows you hate yourself for playing the weakest faction
>>98819930They like your money WAY more than they hate what political stances you're more sympathetic with.
>>98819823Bringing the Primarchs back hasn't really been that great considering GW is fucking allergic to doing anything interesting with them. The demon Primarchs either only exist in lore blurbs or exist to show up and job. Guilliman had something going on but now it doesn't seem like writers know what to even do with him, the hacks at BL are even trying to do "le special magic armor is failing" shit despite the fact that E money rebuilt him after Mortarion gave him super aids. Lion is so irrelevant to the setting he's in DoW before he meets his own brother. The problem with loyalist Primarchs returning is that they can't die again and can't just solve all the issues in the setting or else the enemy factions are screwed.
>>98819736>But not because it retcons Horus sould being destroyedOk, so Horus is alive and Emperor was talking to him.You can't even keep your posts consistent.
>>98819949He’s a Primarch hater just ignore him
The more you fucks bring up the idea of horus's soul having survived, the greater the chances some chaosfag at GW canonically decides abaddon has trapped his soul to power his talon.
>>98819949Wrong. The Emperor looks to the blade and says those words to it. And it sucks because it doesn't make sense unless you've read the Athame short story, and has made lots of people unaware of it to think he was talking to Horus. He wasn't.Horus is still permadead as he ever was.
>>98819914you literally admitted to getting your lore from youtube and grok summaries you dumb zoomer faggot, know your place and stop ban evading
>>98819975>Horus' soul being trapped in the talon and now he's just constantly nagging Abby for wearing his clothes and sitting his chair >Abaddon is the only one that can hear this and can't tell if he's hallucinating or if it's real Would be too funny for James Workshop
>>98819589I just hate how the protoss models are the overdesigned SC2 aesthetics instead of the sleek SC1 since Protoss used to be my favorite faction. I might buy a ghost or vulture for the same reasons you bought a siege tank though, always loved ghosts and vultures.
>>98819932It seems to me that GW's trying to go after people that enter the hobby, buy a ton of shit, then leave as opposed to veteran hobbyists.
>>98819914Lmao. The point of Russ, is that he pretended to be retarded but he's actually retarded. He went full retard and you don't come back from that.
>>98819993>I just hate how the protoss models are the overdesigned SC2 aesthetics instead of the sleek SC1Pic unrelated?
>>98820005Compared to what Zealots look like in SC2/the miniatures?
>>98819995It seems more like they want newfags and more attention on the brand considering they've got that Amazon show deal and trying to make 40k more "accessible" but the prices for the minis and continued investment in the hobby is too much for most people, especially with the economy being awful right now.
>>98820010I don't think the super bright gold does them any favours here, but I don't think they're all that offensive.
>>98819981No, he does not say that to the blade. That's not a thing.Horus is coming back and is not perma dead, that was retconned and deliberately done because wants to bring back primarchs because they like money.
>>98819984And yet I still seem to have way more knowledge than you and better reading comprehension but you were probably raised in the jungle by macaques so I can’t hold you to accountable for your stupidity.
>>98820026Not that anon, but I don't know why they wouldn't just find a way to bring Horus back; they've already gone against several core pillars of the setting and the old guard aren't around to stop them, they've already clumsily fumbled with the setting just to try and rake in more cash.
>>98819995That's their ideal customer but that's not their average customer. The average one is people who have got a 10 or 20 years old army already and occasionally check in to buy a new thing piecemeal and that may or may not be tempted by a range update or a new codex depending on how lively their local gaming community is.Which is why GW's value exploded when it did, when both 40k and fantasy let go of their traditional and stale rulesets for something that for once was considered fresh and attracted many old players to get back into the game to try it out. They fucking wish their average customer was newcomers since that's who they can milk the most, but it doesn't seem like they're capable of reproducing the massive increase in new blood that covid brought.Best they can do now to recreate that is new editions boxsets, high profile animations and games, and, if things get rough in terms of actual sales, then considering doing start collecting boxes with actual values once again, reinventing the tabletop rules once again, and the one next step of painting after having done contrasts (marketed as a one trick method to paint armies fast), which is prepainted shit, but that will depend on the reception of the new scenery, and in any case will end up being done only for a few niche starter sets since they require models to be designed with a completely different plan regarding the facing of their bits' details once arranged on the sprues.
>>98820010They are pretty much the same, except of armor being more glossy and optional headgear. The biggest difference, between zealots in LoV trailer and, for example, Fenix death cinematic in SC1, is general quality of the CGI.
>>98820036Ultimately I think they'd rather rake in money from licensing and multimedia but they really can't do away with the tabletop part of their business at all. The scenery is also $475 in my fucking area which works out to nearly $550 just for a fucking mat and that prepainted terrain. I think realms of battle was cheaper than that but not by any big measure or anything.Hell, even the new edition boxsets (and some combat patrols) strike me as a newbie trap where it's crammed full of shit that doesn't perform well on the table, likely to get you to buy other kits to make up the difference.
>>98819981The blade turned to dust book once an 8th murder was done with it, which was Emperor stabbing Horus.Emperor can't talk to a knife that no longer exists. Why are you lying?
>>98820035>but I don't know why they wouldn't just find a way to bring Horus backThey just did.In the original fluff Horus' entire soul is annihilated out of existance by the Emperor. In the new version it is retconned and this never happens, Horus' soul isn't destroyed, Horus just dies. Meaning he can be resurrected and brought back whenever GW wants in the future.
>>98820016Going from a muted yellow to everything being shiny and gold is another overall change SC2 brought along that I hated. Everything got more embellished and looks like it was pulled straight out of WoW rather than what I liked about Protoss in SC1. And ironically, they scrubbed away several details too. Like look at the armor on that Zealot in the SC1 victory screen and he's got plenty of little techy bits on him like vents and bits of cabling here and there, but on the SC2 derived minis there's none of that. Just overly ornate armor and a few crystals. They may as well be some fantasy race rather than spooky aliens with tech that feels both impossibly advanced and impossibly ancient at the same time.>>98820046Not really, the whole design ethos changed. Even just little things like how all their armor and ships used to have these wavy, darker colored striations in them like sandstone or something rather than a uniform solid gold.
>>98819903>40l fanHHfags can't even remember the name of the game they're trying to hijack discussions of.
>>98820060I do agree because I think the old Starcraft aesthetic was really cool whereas SC2 leans more into that big, bulky style that they seem to like. You might be able to paint them to a really nice standard despite that. The old cutscene with the carrier interior and Tassadar was really fucking cool. Also while you say that the zealots are without detail, goddamn do the marines have a ton of little recesses and other fiddly bits to paint over.
>>98820069Despite me using them as an example, the zealots are far from the ones who got hit by the worst of it in the Protoss range, they're just the easiest to use as an example since we rarely got an up close look at other Protoss that weren't unique characters like Zeratul or Artanis. But the protoss undeniably lost the tech side of their aesthetic and the fantasy crystal bit got way overdone to compensate. Just look at the SOVL drain in the remastered version of that same victory splash screen.
>>98819506>>98819547I'll take any excuse to post John's great SoB piece from 97.

>>98820060>Not really, the whole design ethos changed.>said he while posting 360x360Come on anon.
>>98820047>Ultimately I think they'd rather rake in money from licensing and multimediaThe problem with that is that they have a heavy handed monopoly over the tabletop, and one that creates plastic crack addicts that will be tied to their brands for decades due to sunk cost fallacy, while any notoriety from games and tv is short lived and WILL die fast at the first error because they don't require much of an investment so they don't create an addiction and there is way more content being constantly churned out by their competition in those sectors to steal the attention and affiliation of these customers. They are hoping for a miracle that will catapult their brand like a new star wars as if the world was still in the 80s, but their only 2 reliable options forwards to drive up sales and players retention are good deals and good rules, but they can't offer good deals because stakeholders will kill them, and they can't make good rules because they're trying to sell their shit to retards and the old "easy to learn hard to master" ideal in game design doesn't work with such bloated ranges of models without heavy abstractions that will turn off old fans even if the game ended up massively improved as a result. They basically have to slowly gaslight their existing customers into thinking a boardgame can still be the same old warhammer, by making the changes gradual enough, but they don't want to make the changes as long as line goes up and they become desperate to make heavy changes when line goes down. They're in a corner.

>>98820263I like to think the Alpha Legion is trying to keep balance: if chaos won, mankind would be extinct. If the loyalists won, humanity would stagnate and then also be extinct. So the AL steered towards a different path - eternal war: if neither side won decisively, then the balance never fully tips one way or the other. Everyone keep fighting and suffering, but they remain alive to do so.And as such, a humanity kept on a state of total war has been able to survive the Tyranids and Necrons, which may not have been possible if either side won and then demobilized.

>>98820984>annoyed by how god awful slow Fatshark is, like addressing basic game balanceFS doesn't address basic game balance in most cases, they're more than content to let shit fester. They're a lot like GW in that way; if it doesn't hurt their bottom line (money), it doesn't matter.Check in on Vermintide 2 talk about weapon balance sometime; that's how they treat Darktide, albeit worse because Darktide has shared weapons across classes and a few more weapons across the board (a few VT weapons are reskins, like Kruber's longbow and Kerillian's longbow, or Bardin and Kerillian's 1-handed axes).FS makes good games, but like all Swedes, they do not know how to maintain them.
>>98821020I'm more surprised GW doesn't have a dedicated Japanese themed marine faction. Also didn't they used to have official comics way back when?
>>98821084Iirc Emperor's Shadows are supposed to be the japanese themed chapter? But they are very neglected/nothing happens with them. But that is basically all marine chapters that are not UM, BA, SW, DA and BT.

>>98821166Classic Space Hulk is a translation of the dice game to PC. It is basic, but it has a nice story and very fun!Space Hulk Ascension is the rework, I think by the same Full Control studios. It's based on SHulk, but it's its own thing. Operates in % instead of dice. Lots more customizations and a vast amount of weapons and relics, and even combis. I have both.I play Ascension and I like it, but it's not the og space Hulk. Didn't think a lack of voice narration would be so noticeable.Loooots of grinding.

>>98821276Pretty sure those were the only two mini-series. They ran for 5 issues. But then during the 90s and 00s 2016 there were a lot of 40k and Fantasy comics like Daemonifigue, Kal Jerico or Malus Darkblade. GW dabbles in comics now and then but nothing really stayed for long. I think Darkblade was the biggest success since the titular character had a playable model back in the 6th edition of WHFB and later on his comics got expanded into fullblown series of novels, and even got a standalone The End Times novel. Oh, and he's a playable Legendary Lord in Total War.
I'm finally done with infantries well powered armored infantriesstill got 10 more cultists to do
>>98821347I do recommend Ascension though, there's simply much more both content and replayability than vanilla. The "grinding" I feel is there to keep giving you new stuff after you've won, as it is Space Hulk HD Plus without it. At 0 grind you still have Salamanders with extra heavies, plus the other half dozen chapters. But blasting a path with a combi-melta is very satisfying, or using a cyclone launcher.I somehow trust melee combat more in vanilla than ascension though. At least you can see you rolled a 1, and can accept that. Here the chance is what it is.If I could see the random numbers generated, I would have zero complaints about Ascension. None at all.
>>98821437Being able to see the randomizer is more satisfying for sure. Do either have two player hotseat?
I'm going to ask a very non-specific question regarding low point games. We're starting at 500 points to learn the rules and then keep adding to that. I'm considering either CSM or custodes. Got no custodes so I'd get the new combat patrol box that releases next saturday if I'm correct. For CSM I'd have to add a hellbrute and a unit of terminators to what I got some time ago and never painted. In terms of gameplay and difficulty of painting, which one would you go for?
>>98821396base themadd decals
>>98821559Custodes will be miserable at 500pts, that's basically two units of 3 custodian guards at 480pts already and you don't have a character even to be your warlord for an actual list. Custodes seems easy enough to paint to a tabletop standard, whereas Chaos has Chaos trim. 500pts is eh, I'd aim for 1000pts minimum which is actually a playable standard. I don't think custards can work at 500pts with how their points are at right now.
>>98821603For me, it's 1250 points (2000 point rules)
>>98821603New recruit says with the new box the shield captain, dreadnought and 3 guards comes to 500-ish points. Those aren't up to date points mind you
>>98821144It was supposed to be a big deal that Gulliman would find a way to cross it after the Dark Imperium trilogy, but they decided to follow it up with the Dawn of Fire prequel series so Gulliman crossing it to save the Blood Angels is sort of just glossed over.
>>98821701he did it with the power or a sanguianal miracle
>>98821673The Combat Patrol is made with the old rules in mind likely, they don’t include the Ork Combat Patrol in the Coded like they did in 10th. Balance was never Combat Patrol’s strong suit so just do what ever you want under 1k points.

>>98821740Vashtorr was released after the venom crawler.

>>98820255It's actually very good for a wargame to have some issues that are not solved by slamming things together. Wargames are strategy games, and a strategy game should have strategies other than run at him with X instead of Y.There being an extremely durable unit that is very hard to kill but is expensive that clever players realize you're better off tarpitting than warping yourself around killing is fine for a strategy game. In real life armies have encountered problems that they couldn't solve by running at it all the time, from the first bows, to the first crossbows, tot he first gatling guns, to the first machine guns, to the first tanks, to the first chemical weapons, to the first drones. If you want your wargame to actually feature an element of real warfare, there should be moments of "shit, I can't just run at this thing like I usually do". Real generals have had to say that same thing every generation.Right now, a marine player can spend 390 points for a unit that is hard to kill. The identity of terminators is that they're hard to kill. That's what they do. That's why people buy them. So why would you ram your head into the wall of playing into the thing the unit is designed to do? Why would you look at the unit who's identity is "you can't kill me" and your first thought it "how do I kill this?". It's a generalship issues. You should play to the weaknesses of your opponent's army. Terminator's strength is that they can't be killed. But their weakness is that they're 390 points before upgrades/characters. So a good general will look for a way to minimize their effect while avoiding their strengths. Which, yes as I said, is a tarpit, not killing them. The same applies to stuff like Guilliman and the Lion and anything that is scary but expensive.A 10 brick of termies is OC10, and an attached character is more. You can completely ruin their plan by having a higher OC on the objective the termies are sitting on. They die but you score, repeat.
>>98821514I don't recall. The ai probably knows
VALRAK says that a catachan kill team may be coming, for real this this time not like the other three times it was teased and then ended up being something else.
>>98821144NO ONE GIVING THE REAL REASONThe light of the astronomicon was dimmed on the dark imperium side, so it's difficult and slow to travel through the warp and the chapters on that sidel ike the blood angels have to function as their own quasi-imperium, with some worlds essentially being independent.
>>98821813The problem with that is when that "tough to kill" unit can easily chew through every single thing you can put in front of it and they aren't expensive enough that you are unable to spam them. Or if that unit is sat on an objective that I HAVE to control to not lose the entire game, I am forced to engage with the "don't engage with it" unit.Or because of how hard they are to kill and your ability to bring 33 of them for less than 1500 points, you aren't "tarpitting" anything, you've just turned the *entire* table into "don't go there" by nature of being able to put them onto every single objective that you could want to hold, simultaneously. At that point, why even fucking play? It can take 4+ hours to play a full game of 40k because of dice and rules assessments, why waste my time if I can tell it's not going to be fun for me before even getting my models onto the table?>real lifeIn real life, it doesn't matter how much metal you wear on your body, you getting run over by a vehicle that weighs 4x what you do (including your armor) is going to crush you to death inside of your own armor. Do you think that Leman Russ tanks should get the ability to just insta-kill any infantry in melee by driving through them?An appeal to reality when talking about 40k is nonsense unless you want to be logically consistent with your application.Having one set of units that are intentionally "do not engage, just run away from it" is like playing freeze tag as a kid on a playground where one dickhead kid says he has an invincibility shield. No one has fun and everyone goes home thinking that kid is a dick.
>>98821144Yes you can go above the galactic plane...but you'll have to go back down into it at some point to go anywhere of worth, and you'll be diving into a black abyss because warp navigation shuts down the arcminute the warp clouds hide the Astronomicon
What is naval (sea) warfare like in 40k? A pastiche of WW1 and WW2 like the space stuff?
>>98821929>you getting run over by a vehicle that weighs 4x what you do (including your armor) is going to crush youNumbers say getting stepped on by a Warhound is not unlike getting a car on top of you. Definitely survivable by someone wearing power armour. What matters in those cases is not that the armour won't deform and crush you: it is that it will deform *after* the floor gives in.A suit of terminator would leave a Terminator-shaped silhouette on the pavement before getting right back up. Ground pressure.
>>98822001Inconsequential, but ultimately yeah. The Imperium uses a bunch of old (our modern era) military boats, pretty much everyone else has hover shit/flyers
>>98821929>you've just turned the *entire* table into "don't go there"Powerful. Are Termies so invincible? I'll be clinging to 10E stats of T5 W4 2+/4++ because I don't know what big guns are like in 11E.Perhaps if they were attacked by AP-2 D2 guns with high rates of fire. Maybe Autocannons. If there was a way to increase heavy bolter AP by one, that would affect Termies so much. What about demolishers? I remember them fearing those kinds of guns.I lost track of graviton weaponry, though I think that's marine only. But I remember we hated those because they were effectively AP2 heavy bolters when it counted.
Are Demon Princes the height of power for a mortal turned into a greater demon? Or is there a hierarchy of Princes, Kings, and Emperors etc?
>>98822055>Are Demon Princes the height of power for a mortalPretty much, yes.
>>98821929>Do you think that Leman Russ tanks should get the ability to just insta-kill any infantry in melee by driving through them?Funnily enough that actually used to be a rule, tanks could do a Tank Shock by driving into enemy infantry, they chould choose to either get the hell out of the way or stand and try to destroy the tank with a round of close combat attacks and if they failed the tank flattened them all like pancakes (IIRC with no saves allowed).
>>98821845To be fair, if I saw the Spectre Squad and didn't look closely at the details I would probably have thought them a new Catachan unit and not another Cadian one.
>>98822055no the greatest honor and height a mortal can obtain is to become one with the Tyranid Biomassyou literally become a part of an immortal god being that will basically go galaxy to galaxy eating everything for eternity
>>98822055It’s as far as you could go but all demon princes aren’t created equally. >>98822021Your picture is something intentionally engineered to REDUCE ground pressure. Tank treads are intentionally engineered to SPREAD ground pressure over a long stretch (where the treads are) instead of into a few points that wheels would be. Tanks *concentrate* their ground pressure in a certain place, not reduce it.Regardless, the breaking point in a carapaced object is its soft, squishy internals. You don't have to puncture the armor, you just have to increase the pressure inside of the carapace to induce fatal internal bleeding or to crush some important vital organ like the brain. Marines have only 1 brain, that gets popped the man goes bye-bye. The helmet cannot have the structural integrity of the rest of the suit, especially when it is being compressed against that suit.Ground pressure also has a presupposition of ground content. We're in a fictional setting where fights occur on all sorts of surfaces. Ground pressure varies dramatically between sand, soil and stone as-is on Earth based on the content, who's to say that there isn't some asspullium terrain or soil somewhere in the Imperium that won't deform the way that Earth soil does? Ground pressure right back at you.Arguing reality in 40k is again, nonsense. Or do I need to bring up artillery range, guard order distance and the fact that melta weaponry would melt their users too? You made the "in real life" point first, so either stick to it or concede it.>>98822052Autocannons are ap-1 across the board. Their strength and damage stats vary (CSM Terminator autocannons are 4 attacks s7d1, guard autocannons are 2 attacks of s9d3).Terminators also have access to a flat -1 damage in some cases.Demolishers, if you mean the LR variant, are d6+2 attacks (avg. 4.5) of s14ap-3 that do d6 (avg. 3.5) damage each, so the Terminator you'd be shooting at would just take the coinflip invuln save instead every time.Every attack into them is a coinflip *at best*, that's part of the problem.
>>98822135This is what I imagined the Tanith First and Only to look like but with bagpipes
>>98822147That's why I'm using them to make Tanith, yes yes. As soon as I saw a comment about how the kit comes with enough full stock lasrifles to equip the whole unit I knew it'd be a good kit and an easy time making Ghosts out of.
>>98822114So much has been forgotten, never to be regained...
>>98822121praise patriatch
>>98822145Yes, you can reduce ground pressure by increasing the area of contact. That's what those fat wheels do. By increasing the surface area, a tank is able to navigate terrain where much lighter cars would get stuck. So it becomes a matter of marines being able to survive getting crushed by a tank. They will live or die depending on whether you want them to live or die.But terminator armour could totally survive it. Pavement would give in...then the Russ itself, as steel is much weaker than the suit's adamantium.
>>98822145A conflip at killing a terminator with a single attack sounds pretty sweet, actually. The main problem with those kind of weapons (like Melta) is that they are low rate of fire. Demolishers, be they on Vindicators or Russes, seem alright. Idk if blast activates on squads of 5, but surely it does on the squads of 10 the simulation is talon g about. Also, apparently there will be some Plunging Fire thing that will give +1AP to guns. This means heavy bolters will force terminators to really on their invulns. Dang high ground will be more important than ever.Too bad everyone plays on Planet Parking Lot with just 2 L ruins lmao
>>98822195Zased
>>98822208>Pavement would give inLet me repeat for you, as you seem to lack in reading ability beyond the first point in a text."Ground pressure also has a presupposition of ground content. Ground pressure varies dramatically between sand, soil and stone as-is on Earth based on the content, who's to say that there isn't some asspullium terrain or soil somewhere in the Imperium that won't deform the way that Earth soil does?">steelThe Leman Russ is made of asspull sci-fi materials the same that Terminator armor is, their properties are whatever the narrative needs them to be, so this comparison is useless in both directions.Again, an appeal to reality is nonsense, but you did it first.

>>98822254Ground pressure = pressure exerted by the vehicle onto whichever surface it may be on, anon. Wait, you really think ground pressure is exclusive to soil?! Haven't I been mentioning concrete pavement repeatedly?>Uh what if the ground doesn't deform? It cannot not deform. Even if the floor were steel it would deform. You would have a Terminator-shaped pressed steel silhouette on the floor, then the terminator would stand back up.The one thing that wouldn't deform would be a planet too rich in adamantium...>Aha! So there IS a...which exploded in M31 after Curze blew up Nostromo.>You did it firstI actually butted into a comment about terminators. >>98822290Sounds like you get it just fine.
>>98822251>sounds pretty sweet, actuallyThere can be 11 Terminators in that unit, each one of those coinflips can be worthless by not actually killing a model (Terminators can have 4 wounds via storm shields), meaning those 11 Terminators then retaliate immediately and most likely kill your entire attacking unit because they have 10 thunder hammers or lightning claws between them (if you didn't kill any), as most common anti-armor weapons (meltas) are close range. Or, if you engage them at distance, there exists a command point ability available to space marines after their opponents' fight phase to put a unit of terminators into strategic reserves (Gunship Extraction) at the cost of needing those terminators to be unengaged, to which they can then deepstrike onto your tank, and then can advance and charge (Assault Doctrine) into your tank and use their +1 charge roll from the terminator detachment to do so, and then spend 1 CP to get Lance on their charge from Assault Doctrine.Terminators have good weapons, are hard to kill, can be spammed en masse and move fast now too.>if blast activates on squads of 5Blast adds x dice per 5 models in the target depending on what the x value is to add x extra attacks, yea. There's a blast 2 somewhere I've seen recently, at least.

His armor cannot both be extremely hard (read: brittle) and extremely resistant to HV projectiles (read: ductile); if the armor is ductile (ie spalls), the man inside will get squished when the armor inevitably bends and contracts due to outside force being imparted on it. Sci-fi asspull can only go so far when talking about metallurgy because of the suspension of disbelief.>after CurzeI don't care, this is a "we make up our setting" game. If we're fighting on a Necron rock somewhere made of Negronium that is impossible to damage, Termy boy is getting his brain turned into soup. I don't know what to think of the new terminators, they're supposed to be super durable but offset that with being generally slow, except they're very mobile with the terminator detachment so basically 0 downsides aside from the points cost maybe.

I've seen a guy running 3x10 acolytes + biophagus + primus during LVO but that's just autism.Keep it going based red gsc bro, Neophytes are the toughest to go through.I painted 70 of them and honestly don't want to paint any more.>>98822708Not anymore, shit's fucked.
>>98822755ECKS DEE
>>98822759Calm down lil gup
>>98822759
Could I use GSC torsos as bits for non-GSC, or are they too iconic? Their spacesuits look cool
DARK ELDAR REFRESH>Vect+Dais and male slaves>Kabalite refresh>Hand of the Archon removed
>>98822771permanent
>>98822759Based
>>98822780You can kitbash anything as anything, anonJust cut off the more genestealer-y bits if you're making something like proxy guardsmen or whatnot.>spacesuitsAnother place to look is Imperial Navy Breachers.
>>98822790That says Karandras and Drazhar. Not male slaves or kabalites
>>98822780Would be good for kitbashing an Imperial Navy army without buying a ton of naval guys.
I have an idea for the threadI may make a 4e catachan killteam in the future, would anons be willing to submit character ideas for it?
>>98822780For neophyte hybrids you absolutely can, but the heavy weapons are wielded by 3rd gen hybrids who have more tyranid features like the carapace covered arms or an extra arm so a headswap won't save it if you want to use those as is. But everything else should work.
>>98822808it also says vect and vect comes with male slaves and kabalites are confirmed
>>98822780I've used them for a RT's army, mixed with mechanicus bitz for a high tech spec ops in sealed armour vibe. They're outfitted in pretty generic industrial suits, couple things to be wary of though is that they do have cult insignia to carve off and are more hunched over than you realise (until you're putting them together).
>>98822803>>98822809Yeah I'm thinking armored mortals. I wonder if those 30k solar auxilia veletaris would fit in...
>>98822780You could probably use neophyte bodies, acolytes are too distinct and they tend to have 3-4 arms>>98822757Ah right xenocreed, haven't given that detachment too much thought as I dont have enough shit to play it. Would be hilarious destroying something massive and watching half the squad blow up from failing hazardous rollsIts painful that's for sure, im going to try paint another 10 and then stop. I've been painting other shit at the same time to break up the monotony of it
>>98822828HH Auxilia would also be good, yeaThey're more "early diving suit" than spacesuit though
I did it!NEW>>98822853>>98822853>>98822853
>>98822812Clayton. A nerd who knows a bunch of xenos crap and everyone calls him a nerd but he can blow a hole through the eye of a rushing tyranid warrior so he's cool
Alright I've settled on my starting 2K points for Custodes>Shield Captain>Blade Champion>3x Custodian Guard >3x Sentinel Guard (With the Blade Champion)>3x Custodian Wardens (With the Shield Captain)>3x Allarus Custodians>Telemon Dreadnought>Galatus Contemptor DreadnoughtIt's 1900 points of models and 100 points of enhancements (30 on each dread and 40 spread everywhere else). A seventeen model army is gonna be fun to have.
>>98822803There's a theme for the collage cross-faction kitbashing.
>>98822860YATTA!!~memology aside, very cool. How are you gonna paint them? With your hands?
>>98822812>please do my job for me!Just @ us when you've actually done the dudes, with pics, and people may be willing to have some fun giving names/fluff for them. Until then you're wasting people's time requesting them to do your dirty work with the potential prospect that maybe one day you'll ackshually do these guys (you won't)
>>98822871I want to go for a more aged look for the gold, so I'm gonna probably drybrush on the gold over a black primer rather than just spray gold and call it a day. I don't really care for the colors of the default shield hosts so I'm thinking Ivory/Black for accents for the shoulders/fabric/plumes.
Horus heresy really does have some sickass sculpts huh Guess imma need to do even more kitbashing...
>>98822439>I said that ground pressure varies based on the content of that ground.Ground pressure only depends on weight and area.P = m*g/aP - ground pressurem - mass of an objectg - gravitational accelerationa - area of ground contact
