A little progress every day
>>
"How do I kill terminators" is the wrong question. You're not supposed to kill them. Your opponent spent 390 points on 10 assault termines before characters, another 100 on a fancy character.

The correct question is "how do I tarpit them for a couple turns and neutralize 1/4th of my opponent's army so I can out score him?". Which is actually a much, much easier question.

A lot of the points value cost of termies is in the fact that they're difficult to kill. So you're playing into their hands by warping your play or listbuilding around killing them. Make his expensive unit points inefficient by not killing them. Don't play the game he wants you to play. Make all those points he spent on defensive stat lines wasted by not even engaging with them. Park something that just hard to kill in front of them.

Correctly using termies is the other way around. It's about not getting tarpit-ed and getting your points back or making them uncontested score the central objective for the entire game.

It's less obvious in the zoomed out big groups shots, but yes they're sloppy af. Look at the photo of the two knights posted earlier for a more clear example, here's a snippet. Check out the crazy overspray around the eyes (there's also "light glow" on things that aren't lights, like the smoke launchers on the tanks), the shoddy and inconsistent shading around the rivets and on that right arm. It's rushed slapchop at its ugliest, oh an al if you take a look the basing is all inconsistent too, his army are all running around different battlefields apparently

There are space marines who do that, they're called "Deathwatch"
the more broad-strokes answer is that most astartes are too literally xenophobic to pick up a gauss flayer or rail rifle or whatever and turn it against its makers; they would literally rather die with a bolter in their hands than sully themselves with xenotech

Very much so. Anons always say the big slow thing can be ignored until you park it right on top of the most valuable objective.
That said, full 10 terminators? Sounds like overkill

Your mistake is picking your army based on codex power. They're in constant flux.
Pick an army based on minis and lore you like, thats what youre going to have long term.
You'll have more fun in your games if you're not so focused on "must win with strong army". The power differential isn't that huge anyway.

Plus as a new player expect to loose most of the time no matter what codex and once you're experienced codex choice doesn't matter much.

Yeah, eventually you have to buy a new kill team because they stop making rules for your old one. They do it because it prevents the problem of players not buying models once they've bought models.
>>
>>98818747
That doesn't really seem like a big deal; if you actually like Kill Team then you're going to end up spending the same or less money as you would on proper 40k, and if you don't then KT is still one of the best ways to source official GW bits for, e.g., Night Lords

No. I know how big they are. I just don't think its a big enough difference to matter.
Plus they'd still fit on the correct size bases.
All I mean is don't let a lack of pattern specific rules stop you running minis you like when the primary difference is just aesthetics. All the terminator patterns are close enough to eachother and 40ks rules are loose enough that any terminator works as a terminator (and same for dreadnoughts)

The Starcraft TTG had an incredibly botched launch with massive delays and way too small of a launch roster for a game of that scale. Archon Studios can't plan their shipping worth shit and there are STILL delays months after the initial 'launch'. On top of that Starcraft is a dead franchise withoutban interesting setting, so nobody really cared in the first place.
>>98819362
It was already changed from what they had before and now there's been delays and cancellations of planned units. The schedule means nothing since Archon doesn't actually know what they're doing. They aimed way too high for their capabilities and used a dead franchise to do it.

The game has zero presence except for paid battle report ads or people making fun of it because why on Earth would someone put out a Starcraft tabletop game over ten years after the disaster that was SC2. The prices are nearly GW for models that are okay at best. It has no proper way of sticking out as the setting is dead (and was uninteresting to begin with) and the gameplay is passable at best, which is where other games like Marvel, SW Legion, Battletech, and Trench Crusade manage to make a niche for themselves.
Nobody wanted or was asking for new Starcraft content, and if they had been it wouldn't have been for a tabletop game.

Warhammer remains on top by way of seniority and setting. Anyone who looks at tabletop games will almost instantly be met with Warhammer as the big face of the hobby. As such they'll gravitate towards it as the game also has a wide variety of factions across both Sci-Fi and Fantady settings, and since Warhammer is the biggest name they'll assume EVERY other game in the hobby operates on the same scale and price. This is in turn dissuades them from really looking and getting into other wargames.

>>Horus reduced to atoms both spiritually and physically
Thanks to End and the Death part 3 we know this is false.
Horus is going to return. Emperor after he stabbed Horus and killed him literally says "I forgive and shall wait for your return."
Also Emps doesn't annihilate the body either and Horus' body is just left in the command deck of the Vengeful Spirit.

It's stupid but it is real.

It actually varies. Conventionally, they do re-dye it when their roots grow out. The Order of Our Martyred Lady dye their hair white to honor Alicia Dominica, the first SoB and bodyguard of the trio who had an audience with Emps that bleached their hair white.

But a few of them do have religious experiences that bleach their hair white, just like Dominica did. There are stories where people with other hair colors had naturally (or...unnaturally) white hair after a certain trial or experience.

Other Orders have different hair colors, usually for the same reason: honoring an important Saint or founder.
People do this in real life in various ways, not always as obvious as dying hair. Naming your kid a certain name in the hopes they have traits of the person you're naming them after, dressing like a certain cultural icon in the hopes you are associated with them, picking up speech or behavior patterns, all kinds of ways.

On the other hand, faking your own death so convincingly that everyone buys it, even your immediate family buys it, would be completely in-character for him, so...

the only deadness that matters is whether their respective legions are important enough to get a model range.

russ, sanguinius(nor), and dorn will return because space wolves, blood angels and black templars are ranges gw can use a centerpiece to drive further sales for.
of the other legions only the salamanders have any hope of getting fleshed out into another marine army with its own units, and thus primarch, and only because salamanders got popular with wholesome reddit memes.

on the chaos side the never ever are alphomegon, curze, and horus, and the latter only because abby needs to get wanked.
technically lorgar too would never have a range of its own, but undivided models are basically better themed for word bearers than abbadon anyway so he might get done just because in the far future.

>>
>>98819823
that doesn't seem to be the case, no
the more primarchs you bring back the smaller the returns in terms of sales because they compete with each other for attention, which is why they only make sense as centerpieces for specific ranges since separate ranges would create a division and competition in player base regardless
xenos, very much by design, almost don't have that problem at all, so any xenos release for a specific xenos faction will be bought by all the collectors of said faction, regardless of their choice of subfaction for them

to argue that individual marine subfactions are still stronger than xenos faction this way is just pure delusion the kind that's paraded around only by people banned from fridges
there's a reason why some marine factions like iron hands, white scars and raven guard get jack shit while gw throws money to make stuff like votann, it's not because they have those factions or have someone with a gun at their head forcing them to make nusquats, it's because they know expanding those marines isn't going to pay off compared to just sticking to making generic marines and stuff for the already established subranges

I think trying to redeem traitor primarchs by making the emperor retarded or giving them daddy/mommy issue was worse than what the SW prequels did.
The Emperor can be a self-serving conqueror AND Angron can be a murder-fueled maniac.

Bringing the Primarchs back hasn't really been that great considering GW is fucking allergic to doing anything interesting with them. The demon Primarchs either only exist in lore blurbs or exist to show up and job. Guilliman had something going on but now it doesn't seem like writers know what to even do with him, the hacks at BL are even trying to do "le special magic armor is failing" shit despite the fact that E money rebuilt him after Mortarion gave him super aids. Lion is so irrelevant to the setting he's in DoW before he meets his own brother. The problem with loyalist Primarchs returning is that they can't die again and can't just solve all the issues in the setting or else the enemy factions are screwed.

>>
>>98819995
That's their ideal customer but that's not their average customer.
The average one is people who have got a 10 or 20 years old army already and occasionally check in to buy a new thing piecemeal and that may or may not be tempted by a range update or a new codex depending on how lively their local gaming community is.
Which is why GW's value exploded when it did, when both 40k and fantasy let go of their traditional and stale rulesets for something that for once was considered fresh and attracted many old players to get back into the game to try it out.

They fucking wish their average customer was newcomers since that's who they can milk the most, but it doesn't seem like they're capable of reproducing the massive increase in new blood that covid brought.
Best they can do now to recreate that is new editions boxsets, high profile animations and games, and, if things get rough in terms of actual sales, then considering doing start collecting boxes with actual values once again, reinventing the tabletop rules once again, and the one next step of painting after having done contrasts (marketed as a one trick method to paint armies fast), which is prepainted shit, but that will depend on the reception of the new scenery, and in any case will end up being done only for a few niche starter sets since they require models to be designed with a completely different plan regarding the facing of their bits' details once arranged on the sprues.
>>
>>98820010
They are pretty much the same, except of armor being more glossy and optional headgear.
The biggest difference, between zealots in LoV trailer and, for example, Fenix death cinematic in SC1, is general quality of the CGI.
>>
>>98820036
Ultimately I think they'd rather rake in money from licensing and multimedia but they really can't do away with the tabletop part of their business at all. The scenery is also $475 in my fucking area which works out to nearly $550 just for a fucking mat and that prepainted terrain. I think realms of battle was cheaper than that but not by any big measure or anything.

Hell, even the new edition boxsets (and some combat patrols) strike me as a newbie trap where it's crammed full of shit that doesn't perform well on the table, likely to get you to buy other kits to make up the difference.
>>
>>98819981

>>
>>98820035
>but I don't know why they wouldn't just find a way to bring Horus back
They just did.
In the original fluff Horus' entire soul is annihilated out of existance by the Emperor.
In the new version it is retconned and this never happens, Horus' soul isn't destroyed, Horus just dies. Meaning he can be resurrected and brought back whenever GW wants in the future.
>>
>>98820016
Going from a muted yellow to everything being shiny and gold is another overall change SC2 brought along that I hated. Everything got more embellished and looks like it was pulled straight out of WoW rather than what I liked about Protoss in SC1. And ironically, they scrubbed away several details too. Like look at the armor on that Zealot in the SC1 victory screen and he's got plenty of little techy bits on him like vents and bits of cabling here and there, but on the SC2 derived minis there's none of that. Just overly ornate armor and a few crystals.

They may as well be some fantasy race rather than spooky aliens with tech that feels both impossibly advanced and impossibly ancient at the same time.
>>98820046
Not really, the whole design ethos changed. Even just little things like how all their armor and ships used to have these wavy, darker colored striations in them like sandstone or something rather than a uniform solid gold.
>>
>>98819903
>40l fan
HHfags can't even remember the name of the game they're trying to hijack discussions of.
>>
>>98820060
I do agree because I think the old Starcraft aesthetic was really cool whereas SC2 leans more into that big, bulky style that they seem to like. You might be able to paint them to a really nice standard despite that.

The old cutscene with the carrier interior and Tassadar was really fucking cool.

Also while you say that the zealots are without detail, goddamn do the marines have a ton of little recesses and other fiddly bits to paint over.
>>
>>98820069
Despite me using them as an example, the zealots are far from the ones who got hit by the worst of it in the Protoss range, they're just the easiest to use as an example since we rarely got an up close look at other Protoss that weren't unique characters like Zeratul or Artanis.

But the protoss undeniably lost the tech side of their aesthetic and the fantasy crystal bit got way overdone to compensate. Just look at the SOVL drain in the remastered version of that same victory splash screen.

>Ultimately I think they'd rather rake in money from licensing and multimedia
The problem with that is that they have a heavy handed monopoly over the tabletop, and one that creates plastic crack addicts that will be tied to their brands for decades due to sunk cost fallacy, while any notoriety from games and tv is short lived and WILL die fast at the first error because they don't require much of an investment so they don't create an addiction and there is way more content being constantly churned out by their competition in those sectors to steal the attention and affiliation of these customers.

They are hoping for a miracle that will catapult their brand like a new star wars as if the world was still in the 80s, but their only 2 reliable options forwards to drive up sales and players retention are good deals and good rules, but they can't offer good deals because stakeholders will kill them, and they can't make good rules because they're trying to sell their shit to retards and the old "easy to learn hard to master" ideal in game design doesn't work with such bloated ranges of models without heavy abstractions that will turn off old fans even if the game ended up massively improved as a result.
They basically have to slowly gaslight their existing customers into thinking a boardgame can still be the same old warhammer, by making the changes gradual enough, but they don't want to make the changes as long as line goes up and they become desperate to make heavy changes when line goes down.
They're in a corner.

Dude, this is just basic "cinematic" bullshit to make the scene sound more dramatic.
He is STILL literally talking to fucking Horus here, Emperor just looks at the knife because he knows what he is about to do. And what he is going to do is STABBING HORUS to kill him, aka he is killing his own son.

>wargame meant to represent 2 armies fighting
>make a unit whose sole purpose is to not be fought
Very good design, yes indeed
The game should be FUN first and foremost. "Run between magic circles so I can win on points while praying my units don't die (or intentionally not fighting at all)" is not fun, nor how a wargame should be designed.
Or what if he puts his 10 terminators onto the center objective? Then your entire point is moot because of how so many game objectives are built around controlling that center.

Or what do we do if our armies don't have a terminator equivalent to "park in front of them?" Sure guard has Bullgryns to be *comparable* (though not as well because 6 models vs 10), but what about Sisters? Eldar? AdMech?
>inb4 "just play marines"
Not an argument
>>98818743
If you play an army with boxy vehicles (any Imperium faction), you can get away with an FDM printer. The boxy designs suit the medium very well. Don't print infantry on an FDM printer, the details are too small for the medium.

I'm currently doing a test of printed tracks/bottom/hull gun mount to make 2 Leman Russ out of 1 box, and the parts look completely fine off of an FDM printer.
I will not give you my STLs, James.

Full fleet (Battle barges, cruisers, destroyers, etc.), but organized in thirds.
One is oathed as escorts, the other does strike missions, and another is kept in-system. They also have a Ramilles starfort.

One company's ships have cyberized crews, which lets them survive pushing the ships up to their structural limits. Extreme maneuvers, ramming, high rad, etc.

I like to think the Alpha Legion is trying to keep balance: if chaos won, mankind would be extinct. If the loyalists won, humanity would stagnate and then also be extinct.

So the AL steered towards a different path - eternal war: if neither side won decisively, then the balance never fully tips one way or the other. Everyone keep fighting and suffering, but they remain alive to do so.

And as such, a humanity kept on a state of total war has been able to survive the Tyranids and Necrons, which may not have been possible if either side won and then demobilized.

apparently dan abnett is very excited by the fact gw is letting him go on with this snowflakey shit of his and the setting-shaking asspulls he's supposedly preparing for the next book, but this next book is nowhere to be seen still, maybe gw actually checked what they were greenlighting and shot him down behind the shed, or maybe they're waiting for whatever they're going to do with the amazon series and/or the next post-heresy novels.

The king in yellow is a collection of short weird/horror stories by Robert Chambers, published in the late 1800s.

You're correct. The Alpharius: Head of the Hydra book explains how they switched places at one point. So the Alpharius killed by Dorn was the original Omegon.

Also, Alpharius was the first primarch to be found, in Terra. But it was kept a secret by Malcador, the Custodes, and the Emperor.
Omegon was the last one found. Alpahrius took the opportunity to stage his own coming out to light while keeping the secret of being twins.

FS doesn't address basic game balance in most cases, they're more than content to let shit fester. They're a lot like GW in that way; if it doesn't hurt their bottom line (money), it doesn't matter.
Check in on Vermintide 2 talk about weapon balance sometime; that's how they treat Darktide, albeit worse because Darktide has shared weapons across classes and a few more weapons across the board (a few VT weapons are reskins, like Kruber's longbow and Kerillian's longbow, or Bardin and Kerillian's 1-handed axes).

FS makes good games, but like all Swedes, they do not know how to maintain them.

Classic Space Hulk is a translation of the dice game to PC. It is basic, but it has a nice story and very fun!
Space Hulk Ascension is the rework, I think by the same Full Control studios. It's based on SHulk, but it's its own thing. Operates in % instead of dice. Lots more customizations and a vast amount of weapons and relics, and even combis. I have both.
I play Ascension and I like it, but it's not the og space Hulk. Didn't think a lack of voice narration would be so noticeable.

Pretty sure those were the only two mini-series. They ran for 5 issues. But then during the 90s and 00s 2016 there were a lot of 40k and Fantasy comics like Daemonifigue, Kal Jerico or Malus Darkblade. GW dabbles in comics now and then but nothing really stayed for long. I think Darkblade was the biggest success since the titular character had a playable model back in the 6th edition of WHFB and later on his comics got expanded into fullblown series of novels, and even got a standalone The End Times novel. Oh, and he's a playable Legendary Lord in Total War.

I do recommend Ascension though, there's simply much more both content and replayability than vanilla.
The "grinding" I feel is there to keep giving you new stuff after you've won, as it is Space Hulk HD Plus without it. At 0 grind you still have Salamanders with extra heavies, plus the other half dozen chapters.
But blasting a path with a combi-melta is very satisfying, or using a cyclone launcher.

I somehow trust melee combat more in vanilla than ascension though. At least you can see you rolled a 1, and can accept that. Here the chance is what it is.

If I could see the random numbers generated, I would have zero complaints about Ascension. None at all.

I'm going to ask a very non-specific question regarding low point games. We're starting at 500 points to learn the rules and then keep adding to that. I'm considering either CSM or custodes. Got no custodes so I'd get the new combat patrol box that releases next saturday if I'm correct. For CSM I'd have to add a hellbrute and a unit of terminators to what I got some time ago and never painted. In terms of gameplay and difficulty of painting, which one would you go for?
>>
>>98821396
base them
add decals
>>
>>98821559
Custodes will be miserable at 500pts, that's basically two units of 3 custodian guards at 480pts already and you don't have a character even to be your warlord for an actual list. Custodes seems easy enough to paint to a tabletop standard, whereas Chaos has Chaos trim. 500pts is eh, I'd aim for 1000pts minimum which is actually a playable standard. I don't think custards can work at 500pts with how their points are at right now.

It's actually very good for a wargame to have some issues that are not solved by slamming things together. Wargames are strategy games, and a strategy game should have strategies other than run at him with X instead of Y.

There being an extremely durable unit that is very hard to kill but is expensive that clever players realize you're better off tarpitting than warping yourself around killing is fine for a strategy game. In real life armies have encountered problems that they couldn't solve by running at it all the time, from the first bows, to the first crossbows, tot he first gatling guns, to the first machine guns, to the first tanks, to the first chemical weapons, to the first drones. If you want your wargame to actually feature an element of real warfare, there should be moments of "shit, I can't just run at this thing like I usually do". Real generals have had to say that same thing every generation.

Right now, a marine player can spend 390 points for a unit that is hard to kill. The identity of terminators is that they're hard to kill. That's what they do. That's why people buy them. So why would you ram your head into the wall of playing into the thing the unit is designed to do? Why would you look at the unit who's identity is "you can't kill me" and your first thought it "how do I kill this?". It's a generalship issues.

You should play to the weaknesses of your opponent's army. Terminator's strength is that they can't be killed. But their weakness is that they're 390 points before upgrades/characters. So a good general will look for a way to minimize their effect while avoiding their strengths. Which, yes as I said, is a tarpit, not killing them. The same applies to stuff like Guilliman and the Lion and anything that is scary but expensive.

A 10 brick of termies is OC10, and an attached character is more. You can completely ruin their plan by having a higher OC on the objective the termies are sitting on. They die but you score, repeat.

NO ONE GIVING THE REAL REASON

The light of the astronomicon was dimmed on the dark imperium side, so it's difficult and slow to travel through the warp and the chapters on that sidel ike the blood angels have to function as their own quasi-imperium, with some worlds essentially being independent.
>>
>>98821813
The problem with that is when that "tough to kill" unit can easily chew through every single thing you can put in front of it and they aren't expensive enough that you are unable to spam them. Or if that unit is sat on an objective that I HAVE to control to not lose the entire game, I am forced to engage with the "don't engage with it" unit.

Or because of how hard they are to kill and your ability to bring 33 of them for less than 1500 points, you aren't "tarpitting" anything, you've just turned the *entire* table into "don't go there" by nature of being able to put them onto every single objective that you could want to hold, simultaneously.
At that point, why even fucking play? It can take 4+ hours to play a full game of 40k because of dice and rules assessments, why waste my time if I can tell it's not going to be fun for me before even getting my models onto the table?

>real life
In real life, it doesn't matter how much metal you wear on your body, you getting run over by a vehicle that weighs 4x what you do (including your armor) is going to crush you to death inside of your own armor. Do you think that Leman Russ tanks should get the ability to just insta-kill any infantry in melee by driving through them?
An appeal to reality when talking about 40k is nonsense unless you want to be logically consistent with your application.

Having one set of units that are intentionally "do not engage, just run away from it" is like playing freeze tag as a kid on a playground where one dickhead kid says he has an invincibility shield. No one has fun and everyone goes home thinking that kid is a dick.

Numbers say getting stepped on by a Warhound is not unlike getting a car on top of you. Definitely survivable by someone wearing power armour.
What matters in those cases is not that the armour won't deform and crush you: it is that it will deform *after* the floor gives in.
A suit of terminator would leave a Terminator-shaped silhouette on the pavement before getting right back up. Ground pressure.

Powerful. Are Termies so invincible? I'll be clinging to 10E stats of T5 W4 2+/4++ because I don't know what big guns are like in 11E.
Perhaps if they were attacked by AP-2 D2 guns with high rates of fire. Maybe Autocannons. If there was a way to increase heavy bolter AP by one, that would affect Termies so much.
What about demolishers? I remember them fearing those kinds of guns.
I lost track of graviton weaponry, though I think that's marine only. But I remember we hated those because they were effectively AP2 heavy bolters when it counted.

Funnily enough that actually used to be a rule, tanks could do a Tank Shock by driving into enemy infantry, they chould choose to either get the hell out of the way or stand and try to destroy the tank with a round of close combat attacks and if they failed the tank flattened them all like pancakes (IIRC with no saves allowed).

Your picture is something intentionally engineered to REDUCE ground pressure. Tank treads are intentionally engineered to SPREAD ground pressure over a long stretch (where the treads are) instead of into a few points that wheels would be. Tanks *concentrate* their ground pressure in a certain place, not reduce it.

Regardless, the breaking point in a carapaced object is its soft, squishy internals. You don't have to puncture the armor, you just have to increase the pressure inside of the carapace to induce fatal internal bleeding or to crush some important vital organ like the brain. Marines have only 1 brain, that gets popped the man goes bye-bye. The helmet cannot have the structural integrity of the rest of the suit, especially when it is being compressed against that suit.
Ground pressure also has a presupposition of ground content. We're in a fictional setting where fights occur on all sorts of surfaces. Ground pressure varies dramatically between sand, soil and stone as-is on Earth based on the content, who's to say that there isn't some asspullium terrain or soil somewhere in the Imperium that won't deform the way that Earth soil does? Ground pressure right back at you.
Arguing reality in 40k is again, nonsense. Or do I need to bring up artillery range, guard order distance and the fact that melta weaponry would melt their users too? You made the "in real life" point first, so either stick to it or concede it.
>>98822052
Autocannons are ap-1 across the board. Their strength and damage stats vary (CSM Terminator autocannons are 4 attacks s7d1, guard autocannons are 2 attacks of s9d3).
Terminators also have access to a flat -1 damage in some cases.
Demolishers, if you mean the LR variant, are d6+2 attacks (avg. 4.5) of s14ap-3 that do d6 (avg. 3.5) damage each, so the Terminator you'd be shooting at would just take the coinflip invuln save instead every time.
Every attack into them is a coinflip *at best*, that's part of the problem.

>>
>>98822145
Yes, you can reduce ground pressure by increasing the area of contact. That's what those fat wheels do. By increasing the surface area, a tank is able to navigate terrain where much lighter cars would get stuck.
So it becomes a matter of marines being able to survive getting crushed by a tank. They will live or die depending on whether you want them to live or die.
But terminator armour could totally survive it. Pavement would give in...then the Russ itself, as steel is much weaker than the suit's adamantium.
>>
>>98822145
A conflip at killing a terminator with a single attack sounds pretty sweet, actually. The main problem with those kind of weapons (like Melta) is that they are low rate of fire. Demolishers, be they on Vindicators or Russes, seem alright. Idk if blast activates on squads of 5, but surely it does on the squads of 10 the simulation is talon g about.

Also, apparently there will be some Plunging Fire thing that will give +1AP to guns. This means heavy bolters will force terminators to really on their invulns. Dang high ground will be more important than ever.

Too bad everyone plays on Planet Parking Lot with just 2 L ruins lmao

Ground pressure varies dramatically between sand, soil and stone as-is on Earth based on the content, who's to say that there isn't some asspullium terrain or soil somewhere in the Imperium that won't deform the way that Earth soil does?"

>steel
The Leman Russ is made of asspull sci-fi materials the same that Terminator armor is, their properties are whatever the narrative needs them to be, so this comparison is useless in both directions.
Again, an appeal to reality is nonsense, but you did it first.

Ground pressure = pressure exerted by the vehicle onto whichever surface it may be on, anon. Wait, you really think ground pressure is exclusive to soil?! Haven't I been mentioning concrete pavement repeatedly?
>Uh what if the ground doesn't deform?
It cannot not deform. Even if the floor were steel it would deform. You would have a Terminator-shaped pressed steel silhouette on the floor, then the terminator would stand back up.
The one thing that wouldn't deform would be a planet too rich in adamantium...

>>
>>98822290
Sounds like you get it just fine.
>>
>>98822251
>sounds pretty sweet, actually
There can be 11 Terminators in that unit, each one of those coinflips can be worthless by not actually killing a model (Terminators can have 4 wounds via storm shields), meaning those 11 Terminators then retaliate immediately and most likely kill your entire attacking unit because they have 10 thunder hammers or lightning claws between them (if you didn't kill any), as most common anti-armor weapons (meltas) are close range. Or, if you engage them at distance, there exists a command point ability available to space marines after their opponents' fight phase to put a unit of terminators into strategic reserves (Gunship Extraction) at the cost of needing those terminators to be unengaged, to which they can then deepstrike onto your tank, and then can advance and charge (Assault Doctrine) into your tank and use their +1 charge roll from the terminator detachment to do so, and then spend 1 CP to get Lance on their charge from Assault Doctrine.

Terminators have good weapons, are hard to kill, can be spammed en masse and move fast now too.
>if blast activates on squads of 5

>>

>>
>>98822354
>Wait, you really think ground pressure is exclusive to soil?
That's not what I said, I said that ground pressure varies based on the content of that ground.
Reading comprehension.
>then the terminator would stand back up
There's a man inside of that terminator armor who is not made of asspull sci-fi material. His armor cannot both be extremely hard (read: brittle) and extremely resistant to HV projectiles (read: ductile); if the armor is ductile (ie spalls), the man inside will get squished when the armor inevitably bends and contracts due to outside force being imparted on it. Sci-fi asspull can only go so far when talking about metallurgy because of the suspension of disbelief.
>after Curze
I don't care, this is a "we make up our setting" game. If we're fighting on a Necron rock somewhere made of Negronium that is impossible to damage, Termy boy is getting his brain turned into soup. The tank won't survive unscratched out of it either, fwiw, but the man in the suit isn't going to make it.

I'm not talking about "just rushing them," I never said that. I said that suggesting we intentionally not fight a unit (read: just letting it do whatever it wants) is not a good suggestion and is the sign of bad game design.
To go back to his "real life for tactics" response, when German infantry in WW1 couldn't beat Entente tanks, they didn't run away; they rushed the tanks with explosives, set up traps and pits to prevent the tanks from moving, brought up field artillery to direct fire at them, and invented anti-tank rifles.
We don't have adequate counterplay to the metaphorical tanks, that has been my point this whole time.

Keep it going based red gsc bro, Neophytes are the toughest to go through.I painted 70 of them and honestly don't want to paint any more.

Not anymore, shit's fucked.

Could I use GSC torsos as bits for non-GSC, or are they too iconic? Their spacesuits look cool

You can kitbash anything as anything, anon
Just cut off the more genestealer-y bits if you're making something like proxy guardsmen or whatnot.
>spacesuits
Another place to look is Imperial Navy Breachers.
>>
>>98822790
That says Karandras and Drazhar. Not male slaves or kabalites
>>
>>98822780
Would be good for kitbashing an Imperial Navy army without buying a ton of naval guys.
>>
I have an idea for the thread

I may make a 4e catachan killteam in the future, would anons be willing to submit character ideas for it?
>>
>>98822780
For neophyte hybrids you absolutely can, but the heavy weapons are wielded by 3rd gen hybrids who have more tyranid features like the carapace covered arms or an extra arm so a headswap won't save it if you want to use those as is. But everything else should work.
>>
>>98822808
it also says vect and vect comes with male slaves and kabalites are confirmed
>>
>>98822780
I've used them for a RT's army, mixed with mechanicus bitz for a high tech spec ops in sealed armour vibe. They're outfitted in pretty generic industrial suits, couple things to be wary of though is that they do have cult insignia to carve off and are more hunched over than you realise (until you're putting them together).

Yeah I'm thinking armored mortals. I wonder if those 30k solar auxilia veletaris would fit in...
>>
>>98822780
You could probably use neophyte bodies, acolytes are too distinct and they tend to have 3-4 arms

>>98822757
Ah right xenocreed, haven't given that detachment too much thought as I dont have enough shit to play it. Would be hilarious destroying something massive and watching half the squad blow up from failing hazardous rolls

Its painful that's for sure, im going to try paint another 10 and then stop. I've been painting other shit at the same time to break up the monotony of it
>>
>>98822828
HH Auxilia would also be good, yea
They're more "early diving suit" than spacesuit though

I did it!

Clayton. A nerd who knows a bunch of xenos crap and everyone calls him a nerd but he can blow a hole through the eye of a rushing tyranid warrior so he's cool

Alright I've settled on my starting 2K points for Custodes
>Shield Captain
>Blade Champion
>3x Custodian Guard
>3x Sentinel Guard (With the Blade Champion)
>3x Custodian Wardens (With the Shield Captain)
>3x Allarus Custodians
>Telemon Dreadnought
>Galatus Contemptor Dreadnought

It's 1900 points of models and 100 points of enhancements (30 on each dread and 40 spread everywhere else). A seventeen model army is gonna be fun to have.
>>
>>98822803
There's a theme for the collage cross-faction kitbashing.
>>
>>98822860
YATTA!!~

memology aside, very cool. How are you gonna paint them? With your hands?
>>
>>98822812
>please do my job for me!
Just @ us when you've actually done the dudes, with pics, and people may be willing to have some fun giving names/fluff for them. Until then you're wasting people's time requesting them to do your dirty work with the potential prospect that maybe one day you'll ackshually do these guys (you won't)
>>
>>98822871
I want to go for a more aged look for the gold, so I'm gonna probably drybrush on the gold over a black primer rather than just spray gold and call it a day. I don't really care for the colors of the default shield hosts so I'm thinking Ivory/Black for accents for the shoulders/fabric/plumes.
>>
Horus heresy really does have some sickass sculpts huh

Guess imma need to do even more kitbashing...
>>

>I said that ground pressure varies based on the content of that ground.
Ground pressure only depends on weight and area.
P = m*g/a
P - ground pressure
m - mass of an object
g - gravitational acceleration
a - area of ground contact
