What do you think of the new skeletons? Which core do you want to see most updated next and why?

Mr. Manlet, if you're going to shitpost, you should do it in a way that makes some kind of logical sense so that you have plausible deniability. Throwing out statements without any care for their believability isn't even shitposting it's just taking up space.

>It's the colour scheme, look
>the old models were way whiter, allowing for greater contrast between shadows and highlights of the bones, and used very bright red and very bright turquoise as spot colors, while the gold was darker and a unifying element
>the new models are using warmer almost yellow bones, with bright yellow gold, and red that's practically brown, with little to no turquoise, it makes the whole thing a homogenised mess
>>

The rules for them are still bad so I dont care.
If the old ones didnt have mold line issues I would say I prefer the old ones.

serviceable
>Which core do you want to see most updated next and why?
fix high elf spearmen, archers and silver helms and their range is practically completely up to date

but I think addressing the empire is more important, they should be the most important player of this period and instead gw has been wasting time redoing chaos three times across aos and tow
>>
>>98821684
I agree and disagree. Agree that High Elves need it most now (I think they needed it more than Tomb Kings), but I disagree about the Empire. I think everything other than Knights for Empire is fine for many years.
>>

Not a fan.
>Which core do you want to see most updated next and why?
None of them. Just keep reissuing old sculpts. So I guess Dark Elf spearmen and crossbowmen next, but not the shitty 8th ones.

Just pulled my VC army out. Going to get some movement tray converters for Old World. What am I in for other than people complaining that VC are too good? I sort of noticed online that all the video creators are kind of faggots about VCs and their ability to... bring back skeletons and zombies. Like the army's core ability that has always been really good to make up for skeletons and zombies being dogshit. Am I going to have to deal with niggas groaning when I plop my army down? I don't really make WAACfag lists just take my skeledudes.

The exciting thing is, Tomb Kings cav coming now confirms perfectly what the rumor monger who said Bretonnia is next in line for the refresh. Pegs and KOTR iirc?

For better or worse they are still just the almost 30 years old skeletons with some egyptian bits stuck on them.
Shame the skeletons of that 1998 kit were worse than those from 1986 that they replaced.

the empire's basic infantry units are humiliated by their plastic predecessors, that's not good for a range, they may be 7th ed plastics but they are ugly, with not enough sashes and poofs

I don't get the overdetailed angle some dipshits are pushing on these guys. They have *more* detail than the pushing-40 old ones, but since those had absolutely fucking none at all adding the odd strip of cloth or bronze torc or actual fucking riding tack for the horses hardly qualifies as excessive or egregious.
>>
>>98822006
No, the AoS thread was also filled with defenders. It was a sight to behold.

Newsflash: You can paint models however you like.
If you are an osteoautist you can even paint archeologically accurate skellingtons.
>>
>>98822012
You’d figure that out if you actually had a painted army that required effort.

Orc Boyz. I like the current sculpts and want to see if they do them justice.
>>
>>98822012
>excessive or egregious.
All nuGW sculpts are excessively and egregiously overdetailed. It's about adding details where none need to be. Specifically for the horses, the saddles are pretty overdone and look bad. Don't be a faggot like >>98822036 and reduce a shorthand criticism to disingenuousness. Critiques aren't required to come with a full-on education every time they're made. Fact of the matter is nuGW's computer sculpted miniatures have too many details implemented poorly for the sake of adding detail, and lack an intrinsic artistic touch that even the old "bad" 90s sculpts had and are beloved for.
>>
>>98822061
Not him but this is one of the reasons I did not buy the new marauders. Way too many details on each mini. I don't mind it on say a character but baseline units? Bit much. Though I am considering the new warriors
>>
People bitch about too much detail.
I'm bitching about how these will be awful to assemble and yet be monopose like every damn new release.
>>
>>98822095
They have weapon options (at least the warriors and horsemen ) but yeah the arms are gonna snap.
>>
>>98821818
Being able to raise the dead is not at all the problem with VC. Look at what screams can do.
>>
>>98822061
This is what I am talking about, you're bitching about the saddles but even GW just painted them one color. Literally one color bro, how is that overly detailed.
>>
>>98822136
I've heard about screams. The simple fix is to just say after engaged in combat they can only target in base-to-base. But I read something called "Renegades v2" that nerf rezzing into the ground. Half of the community just seems to hate undead shenanigans.
>>
>>98822165
Yeah this
At this point it's just a knee jerk reaction that people have
They have tassels, straps and a simple saddle and therefore they must be ridiculously overdetailed
These people have just been told that this is the correct opinion to have and can't stop repeating it like a parrot
>>
>>98821641

>>
>>98822353
They have to turn everything to shit. People will buy the models because they're in the GW bubble mental space. It's kind of insane what that does to a man.
>I'll build it later, just another thing for my pile of shame!
>Oh shit, I better not miss out on the initial release! But it's not like I'll get to it before the restock lol.
>Cool bitz! These can definitely go into my bitz pile even though I don't kitbash anything at all.
>Oh man, let's split the box bro!
>I need another army, these new models are cool!
>I'll just scalp them because they'll sell out immediately.
etc.
>>
>>98822088
I like the new marauders but I do agree there’s too much on em. I cut some greebles off as I assembled em if I’m gonna be honest
>>
>>98821910
You can already have Knights of the White Wolf with the current knight box, it is an excellent box for its age. State troops need a simpler refresh in terms fo models, right now they got too much useless details and lack unity in equipment.
I'd like to have them like the Greatswords/Archers/milita kits, but they'll surely do CAD which will just make dynamic looking rank and file units which sounds an oxymoron
>>
Imperial Chapter and Grand masters not being able to take griffons is a bizarre choice, and frankly a personal insult.
>>

>>
>>98823028
They're knightly leaders, Griffons are for the Elector-Counts, that's why they can go demigryph at best, the Orders don't have money to spend on a griffon for a sole Chapter Master, an Elector-Count does have the forture for it
>>
Is there a Skaven clan specializing in jezzails/marksmanship? Like how Vrrtkn have the globadier gimmick and Ektrik like warp-lightning cannons?
>>
>>98822029
>>98822061
Oh, so you're just a lazy retard with shit taste. Gotcha.

The new skellybobs look great, like they stepped right out of the classic TK artwork, and if you think they'd be a challenge to paint you should legitimately just go back to mashing together Army Men and making pewpew noises because you clearly have the mind and attention span of a toddler.
>>
>>98823113
I'm of the opinion that the head honcho of the griffon lovers should be able to finagle an actual griffon out of an elector count in exchange for military assistance.
Also I want to be able to take one with my knightly order army.
>>
>>98823456
The thing is not everyone can ride a cgriffon, you must raise him from a chick to adulthood so it will recognise you as their master, else they'll just rip you to sherds without hesitation, you can't simply loan a Griffon like it's a horse.
Just take a sole General in your knightly army then
>>
>>98822951
>it is an excellent box for its age
No, the horses look like ponies compared to all other warhammer horses
You can say "muh historical horses weren't that big" and yet I will put the knights next to Cathay of TK or other new cav kits (even pistoliers) and it will look old AF simply by its size
>>
>>98821972
fuck off furfag scum
>>
>>98823974
It's not about the scale of the horse, it's about how they'll all become monopose CAD, with each model carrying their of drawer full of random crap on them.
>>
>>98823805
'fraid you can't take empire generals in the list.
>>
>>98824019
imo despite Beastmen being clad with fur they do not incite the red flags of furries. If they truly were a furry faction then we would see more heckin’ wholesome chungus paintjobs and conversions. Instead they are brutal carnivores who worship dark gods and practice foul magic.
>>
>>98823974

Or maybe that GW is incompetent.

With some Green Stuff
>>
>>98824989
Well for dwarfs, your heroes are almost always just in your infantry units, so they just go in the spacer trays too.
>>
>>98824838
For a Thane, the +1 wound one is top tier. Slayer get the AP one.
>>
>>98824838
Definitely a rune or two to the cannon, I always take at least one rune of forging. Though I don’t recommend having over 100 pts of runes at that point level though, you might end up with diminishing returns.

I’d maybe shoot for a 600 pt game. Knock off a single warrior so your hero fits in it squarely maybe to free up some points. I’d also turn your dragon slayer into a doomseeker, which is a more efficient solo hero.

But if you have to, I usually enjoy turning my thane into an absolute best stick.

>>
>>98825709
Very similar to DH, the career system is better and more evocative. Makes you feel more like your character. Not as deadly though and a lot more light hearted.
>>
>>98821818
Rezzing was fine in editions where it was tied to casting spells, and so was inherently bound by how many power dice the controlling player had to play with, not to mention that opponents had counterplay options by utilising dispelling. In tOW rezzing is tied to whether the controlling player can pass a leadership 8/9 test, usually with a reroll, with no real upper bound on that other than how many rezzers you can cram into your list. It becomes especially egregious when you look at all the bullshit VC can stack onto Grave Guard, which they can very easily get in core. VC are fine as long as you avoid very obvious cheese (scream spam, rezz spam, I think the big ghost chariot thing is bullshit too) I'm sure there's Swedish Comp style list out there somewhere that gives a good list of VC bullshit to avoid. Or do what you want who cares.
>>
>>98825709

I get the sentiment that TOW will lose its identity if a lot of the kits get replaced but TK skellies and horsemen really aren't ones I'll miss. Not all kits are equal.

Every major venue I’ve seen them discussed there is criticism alongside the astroturfed GW shit-eating. There’s a segment of GW buyers (different from wargames or WFB enjoyers) who like everything GW puts out, as well as GW employees whose job it is to promote anything and everything. But there’s also a not-insignificant portion of customers, who are longtime WFB fans and drivers of TOW’s success, who don’t particularly like any of the new sculpts.

This dude like “only in this thread” because he’s terminally on 4chan alone.

As we've seen in this thread, that's a buzz word. Retard called the saddle overly detailed (it has literally no detail and is painted one color)

Does anyone know if demons are actually playable with the renegade packs or are they hated here too.

They don’t look fun to paint is all I’ll say in regards to the new chaos range. They remind me too much like the new terminators in the Hh range.

>As we've seen in this thread, that's a buzz word.
It isn't a buzzword. In fact, your usage of "muh buzz words" to shut down any criticism is factually a buzzword.
>Retard called the saddle overly detailed (it has literally no detail and is painted one color)
The addition of the saddle is a plain and obvious example of overdetailed additions to classic WFB designs, and in line with nuGW's inability to maintain the character and feeling of WFB's design language. See picrel. The previous skeletons literally didn't even have a saddle at all, neither on the models nor the art. The saddle is a superfluous addition that adds NOTHING positive to the miniature, and in fact makes it look more busy and cluttered. The saddle is added for the sake of adding something, which is what "new models have too many details" means, not whatever bullshit deflection you're asserting.

Just sit down and shut up. You can like the new models, but you're using multiple fallacies to shoot down real reasons why people do not like nuGW's OVERDETAILED computer designed miniatures.
>>
>>98827822
>the model is overdetailed slop
>because it has a saddle
Lmao
>>
>>98827684
It’s not a buzz phrase just because you disagree. I don’t care about saddles or shit but there’s too much shit on the new warriors for my liking. Ergo, too much detail

Now that there is also a maliketh in elder ring, GW has to let malekith have his name back right?
>>
>>98821818
>What am I in for other than people complaining that VC are too good?
VC are a legacy army with ogors, chaos dawi and those other faggot armies no one cares about but since their rules never get updated whatever they started with is what they currently have and thus will never get nerfs to their OP resurrection bullshit skeletons.
>>
>>98827860
GW doesn't even seem to know themselves anymore. Whether or not it's a conscious loosening of policy or just communication errors who knows.

that's because it was one sprue for all skeleton horses that gw would use for either cavalry, characters or chariots, across two factions.
>>
>>98821960
>Tomb Kings shouldn't have cavalry as a bronze age faction.
This is true though because it makes them stand out more if they only have antiquated chariots especially vs. VC that have undead knights.

GW goes through phases of being a hobbyist company and being a corposlop company. They're still in the middle of a corposlop phase. Like, I personally know one of the lead 40k designers and he's dogshit at playing and painting and hobby and doesn't give a shit about the fluff but got hired because he worked in various corpo management roles for a decade.

Hopefully we'll get back to a hobbyist-focused management agenda soon. There are some signs but the vestiges of corposlop ideation make it hard to tell.

and this is why no one else can get hired, because HR whores recycle losers with ~experience~.

I just love how no one points out that tomb king riders were actually from araby and aren’t actually native niggherians.
But then I guess that conflicts with all the Egyptian decorations they have despite Arabians being quite distinct.

Yes, and they look like ass. Skeletons sitting awkwardly on exposed horse-spine.

>the art
The art based on the models?

>the saddle adds nothing
It adds the skeletons not floating midair because theyre using a horse model clearly not designed for riding. It adds a sense that these are proud nehekharan warriors and not a cheap conversion 10yo me made because he had some mounts and some infantry models left over.

Actually in the journal they tell you to convert/scratchbuild your own. Herdstones had been that way long before AoS made a model of one.

the beastlord was released for AoS

>>
>>98826473
It's really interesting to me the way in which people are sweating in TOW. Like. Sweat lists in 40k are still fun and have variables. Tryharding in TOW amounts to taking units bigger than 25 and avoiding fighting at all so you get marginally more victory points. It's just boring. The TOW community overall is still more fun and cheerful than any 40k player but rank-and-flank is extremely boring when it's death star units protecting heroes.

And yet all of their plastic renditions have been homogeneous as fuck.
GW really fucked up going from the 1st-4th edition designs to the 5th ed onwards one.
Chaos as a faceless horde of Darth Vaders doesn't really capture de individualistic and unique nature that every warrior should have.

I was thinking about this earlier tonight but these posts reminded me. I kind of find the Empire just unreasonably, unbearably boring. Even has a someone who enjoys the historical HRE aesthetic and plays 40k's most boring faction the Imperial Guard. The Empire just has nothing going for it other than to job against Chaos, VCs, and Orcs. Very gulp shitto.

I suppose you're not the Human Fighter type then in fantasy game then? The whole fun of Empire/Imperial Guard is being a bunch of regular joes standing, dying and sticking it to whatever horrible things come their way. I also play the RPG so I might be more lived in.

The current art is rather shit I'll admit, and the current fluff is also horrible and unutilised since every is just looking at each other and doing nothing. Should have much more inter province conflict, and less of that 3-4 miniEmpires-within-the-Empire with shit names which means nothing to no one.
>>
>>98828933
have you even read that? in the same breath it mentions cathay it also mentions the chaos marauders.
