>>98825100you could shock and lightning bolt zada to do 5 damage to your board... but why?
>>98825104Because say my opponent is a FAGGOT green player with a million mana sluts, and my other opponent has a decent board, and my third opponent is a Selsenya token player, Ideally I can target Zada, copy bolt, and because it says I create copies for each creature the spell could've targeted, I get to create a million billion bolts, but my question is that if to do this, I have to target Zada first, killing him in the process
>>98825110yes but those copies target all YOUR creatures, so it would be a boardwipe for you
>>98825116How do I do this but without hurting myself?
What is the verdict on Elves in Commander? Is something like>Too strong for casual, not strong enough for competitivesound right? How would you feel about someone making an intentionally bad Elf deck so they can play casually? >>98825187You have two options, the way I see it>one: be a kind, community focused person and gently but firmly bring it up with them that you feel aggravated and annoyed at the constant targeting while just trying to have fun in a card game>two: build the most obnoxious stax or burn or sacrifice deck ever made and make those faggots regret ever picking up magic
>>98825000What about>cast bolt>have a card that says double all damage you do>have another card that says "deal that much damage plus 2"Does Bolt deal 8 damage or 10?

Question regarding interaction between https://scryfall.com/card/sos/113/emeritus-of-conflict-lightning-boltand https://scryfall.com/card/hob/59/wizards-staff Google AI claims the following will happen, which sounds reasonable to me. Thoughts? Because the Lightning Bolt copy is an instant, you can cast it at instant speed in response to the second preparation trigger. This creates a massive value loop:1. You cast your 3rd spell of the turn.2. Emeritus of Conflict's ability triggers. Wizard's Staff puts a second copy of the trigger on the stack.3. The first trigger resolves: Emeritus becomes prepared. A Lightning Bolt copy is created in exile.4. Before the second trigger resolves, you hold priority and cast the Lightning Bolt copy from exile.5. Casting the Bolt instantly unprepares Emeritus. (Note: Because you cast a noncreature spell, the Wizard's Staff double-prowess triggers also go on the stack here, giving Emeritus +2/+2).6. The Lightning Bolt copy resolves, dealing 3 damage.7. The second preparation trigger now resolves: Since Emeritus is currently unprepared, it successfully becomes prepared again, placing a second Lightning Bolt copy in exile for you to use later!

I played the Pokémon TCG and good god does MTG mog the shit out of it. Same as Yugioh. It's all baby shit
>>98825738High tier Pokemon and Yugioh are considerably more advanced and difficult than Magic, on account of the games being esoteric, nonsensical messes which the guys making them barely understand, and they keep making cards that are deliberately intended to break the game only to have those cards overshadowed by a twelve-card death engine that plays out before your opponent's first turn but stalls out thanks to failing to draw one critical card.
https://moxfield.com/decks/oRNOXIdCEE6d7VmWxjSbRAI'm building elda because i realized that making someone else cast a leveler is REALLY funny. What are some other retarded creatures I can run that will accelerate the game to endgame immediately?
>>98825803Toski doesn't work with elda but i like where your head is at
>>98825738In my experience, the experience of attending the LGS, getting chummy with the locals, opening packs, and the actual LGS-event / tournament structure as well is way better with Pokemon.Playing Commander with any sort of tournament structure is complete cancer, this game cannot be played reasonably outside of a casual context. Whereas at Pokemon events playing in a tournament-bracket setting where you bring your best deck and try to win is the norm.I like PokemonTCG a lot more than Magic, but I feel too old to play it at the LGS. I play Commander instead because that is what my similarly aged friends play, (and they are too stubborn to learn other games).(Also Yugioh is better than Magic too, but I am too lazy to write about it)
>>98825813Pokemon wishes it had a 4man FFAAnd 1v1 mtg blows the competition out of the water it's not even a contest
>>98825823That's always something I've been disappointed by, Pokemon doesn't have any "alternative" formats. Mtg has commander, star wars has twin suns, but pokemon only has one game type. There's not even a doubles format.
>>98825823Big agree that the 4-player aspect of Commander is one of it it's greatest strength. 1v1 Magic has a high ceiling for potential excellence, but that potential is often not fully realized. Current state of 1v1 Magic is not great.
>>98825620It isn't what I would call "a massive value loop", but yes, you should be able to squeeze a second lightning bolt out this way.

At instant speed, you can respond to a trigger changing the state of the creature by changing its state using its ability. Please note that the trigger doubler is not itself a triggered ability.
>TQ: Should Mana Drain be a GC?YesAlsoHermit druid, literally a game changing card. Literally a card I have to fight to keep out of my decks because of how bad it warps them
>>98825183>I don't know the rules and am bad at the game
>>98826072if hermit druid should be a GC then the same should apply to demonic consultation and tainted pact
>>98826083They are not really the same thing, one only wins with labman effects the other opens every single graveyard combo in the game plus labman
>>98826121Consult and tainted pact not directly fueling my breach combo is a fair tradeoff to them working immediately and not needing haste
>>98826121Labman should be a GC too.
>>98826200Literally why? You really can't just remove the labman before they win with it?
>>98824992>TQ: Should Mana Drain be a GC?I'm of two minds on this. While not an auto-include even in brackets 2-3 (there's a lot of scenarios where the 1 mana counterspells are superior, and 2 blue pips is more demanding in 3c+) it's extremely powerful. My personal philosophy reasons this is sufficient to be deserving of the Game Changer list. The problem I see in doing this comes on two separate fronts1. The GC list is woefully incomplete BY DESIGN, the fear of "bloating" the list leaves the limp-wristed milquetoast """content creators""" curating it utterly ineffectual at creating something comprehensive; should you hit Mana Drain, while ignoring similarly powerful ubiquitous cards like Deflecting Swat... Finale of Devastation... it's going to feel more and more arbitrary. Especially when fucking Aura Shards, Farewell, Seedborn Muse, and Opposition Agent are all somehow seen as more deserving.2. Game design. Expanding the game changer list does have an unintended consequence on bracket 3, and in my experience bracket 3 is the "sweet spot" for pub games. From an optimization standpoint the more game changers the list has, the more polarizing deckbuilding becomes. While not always the case the strongest game changers can muscle out the weaker ones.Let's say you're building a B3 deck and looking at the list. The most-powerful among those cards are extreme outliers, meaning cards on the lower end are likely to be eschewed in favor of them. Again: not all the time, not everyone runs 3 GCs and people also don't always put this stuff into consideration. But it is a factor. The real solution would be to ban outliers on the game changer list. Rhystic, One Ring, Ancient Tomb, Cyc Rift, until the GC becomes a much more selected suite of power cards too unpleasant for the precon special ed bracket while being given as limited options for bracket 3. This won't happen, of course. The bracket system is WotC's lazy way of getting out of banning anything ever again.
>wizards doesn't want to have to ban shit, so they won't>Meanwhile they are perfectly fine banning in all their "real" formats.
>>98826319Yeah anon, they love shaking up the other formats

>>98828601>>98828673Kill yourself
>>98828729Brackets are worthless because they're "vibes based". What actually needs to be made are 3+ tiers of gameplay that clearly dictate what deck types can be played in them (eg Tier 1: No Infinite Combos Period) along with an extensive ban list for each one which gets smaller the higher you go. But that would take a lot of work, which wotc won't do, and the fandom is too lazy and dumb and passionless now to ever come up with their own fan made tier/ban lists.
>>98828729I actually really like the brackets, in concept but the fact that there's no dedicated battlecruiser bracket just shows the people in charge are johhny come latelys The staggering show of cowardice that was on display as the RC handed everything they had over to WOTC was the real final nail for this format and any amount of enjoyment left is a limited resourceThats why I play so much these days

>>98828747>(eg Tier 1: No Infinite Combos Period)that is too hard to dictate, people might find combos in cards they didn't intend to combo off with, and is not really definitive. the list then also becomes something like "sanguine bond and exquisite blood are not banned cards BUT cannot be played in the same deck together". you start to add way too many arbitrary rules. what about pic rel? there is no reasonable way that you are pulling this combo off, but it can be put in any deck and allows you to mill out every single library at the table. it seems much easier/more reasonable to say "these cards are the cards that allow for the speed and reliability required for hyper fast games with little to no room for interaction unless your opponents are playing equally tuned/fast decks. we ban them in 'low speed' edh so that you can still play your ten mana, 2 card combo, but it is far less reliable and leaves a much bigger window for your opponents to interact with it".>>98828754having split speed banlists would allow for the unbanning of jeweled lotus in high speed edh. a format that has no fast mana or cheap, versatile tutors would mean more space for battlecruiser lists.>>98828769the point is not to have no competition at all in low speed edh, just a way to clearly define what constitutes as "high power" and "mid/low power". removing fast mana, cheap and versatile tutors, and reserved list cards would put "mid/low power" decks in a world where T2-T3 wins are highly inconsistent for most decks, and the decks that DO still overperform (something like vivi would do this) would be able to be banned pretty quickly. it isn't to remove competition or from trying to get people to make the best deck available within the format, just to provide a lower ceiling of power.why do morons like YOU so vehemently oppose a separate banlist if it doesn't affect your cedh games? you aren't a pubstomper who relies on abusing the trust/naivety of other players, are you?

>>98828815Half decent draw engine with a tutor effect in red?
>>98828816yes, people can and should play sweaty at the lower speeds. the point of split banlists would be to put the players into ACTUAL different buckets, instead of people running off-meta cedh/bracket 4 decks and claiming they are bracket 2 because "no game changers!" or something. it isn't that you shouldn't be playing sweaty at a lower speed, it is just that it would be a different kind of sweaty. just like there are sweaty standard decks and sweaty vintage decks, but actual format curation/rules delineations keeps the sweaty vintage decks from absolutely destroying the sweaty standard decks by keeping them at different tables.

>>98828821>best preconOkay sure and Prossh had a built in food chain jund precons are great I can see that.In real edh land 4 mana do nothig turn it comes down artifact seems bad
>>98828921The point is even something as seemingly innocuous as 'unmodified precons' is not safe from le ebil pubstomping
>>98828846the point is that the combo listed is a 5 card infinite, to say that it isn't allowed in lower brackets because "no infinites" is retarded. yes, it is a notorious combo piece. so is salvaging station. the point is that "no infinites" is a weird restriction when you could actually just ban the problem cards that let players consistently pull off and protect their infinites. sanguine bond+exquisite blood is a 10 mana combo that needs another source of life gain or loss to start the combo going. if you get rid of fast mana and reliable tutors, the likelihood of that player pulling off their combo without someone naturalizing it is very low. and if they do get it off? good for them, they will probably only do it once in a blue moon.brackets are a mistake and we should just have actual separate banlists to delineate the different speeds/power levels.>>98828841how do you limit infinites, though? would a marwyn deck not be legal because it plays wirewood symbiote and temur sabertooth? do you allow the other players judge calls to restrict the marwyn player? how many loops are allowed, and which action gets restricted?
>>98828950You can do one (1) activation of your combo because doing it a second time proves you've established an infinite loopAnd no, banning marwyn because of the composition of the deck is stupidAgain, brackets is all about *when* you do your combo and nobody sane should care *what* your combo is and *how likely* it is (good luck calculating that) what matters is *when* you pop off
>>98828851got a list?
>>98828950>good for them, they will probably only do it once in a blue moon>once in a blue moonI love how people downplay combos as 'unlikely' when sol ring only has 8% chance to appear in your opener and retards already whine about that

I'll tell people I cast counter spell or removal and just put a random card from my hand into the graveyard and bury it so they can't tell what I cast. I don't even have interaction in my decks. Nobody checks.
>>98829021Overstatted to hell for 60-card. Indestructible should be tracked with a counter.
>>98825128I think they're boring to go against, win or lose
>>98827806Non-canon
>>98829102What do you mean?
>>98828780A few problems:1) Mirror Shield is already a card2) Your legendary should have the appropriate name plate 3) There shouldn't be a colon after Equip. The 3 symbol is part of the cost, not the effect. It shouldn't come after "has" either.4) Overpowered. Changing targets of any ability or any effect on repeat like this is way too strong. The permanent you're protecting doesn't even have to be the one using it. Needs more conditionals, needs a higher cost.
>>98829138The mangas aren't canon. They're supplemental promotional material, but they aren't actually canon to the story.
>>98829141I think having it be a Spellskite-like would work. "Change target of spell or ability to Mirror Shield" Granted I havent played Majoras Mask so idk if thats what It actually does
>>98829020I run one but sleight of hand it into my starting hand every gamme.
Is there a point to mana rocks in mono?
>>98828630/tg/ has been dying for a while now.>>98828658>honey potI thought everyone knew this already lmao, what are they going to do come lock me up for having right wing opinions like there are only two genders? I don't even hate trannies that much, it's the woke liberal propaganja that's doing it. Trannies are actually the biggest victims of their vicious and cruel ideology.
I'm toying with the idea of retooling my goblin deck, or just flat out making another one as boros. Should Folk hero be the commander, or should inspiring leader be the commander?>>98829172Depends on the rock. Sol ring, yes, arcane signet? Probably not. Thought Vessel if you're going to be drawing a lot, also probably yes. Moxs, big mana rocks if you have high spell costs also probably.
>>98829160The problem is that spellskite is already a an extremely powerful card on its own, and you can generally take it for granted that if it's at least high damage or a kill spell, that will at least take out the spellskite so that you can't reuse it.Mirror Shield as a non-creature won't take damage and will only be removed by either general permanent or artifact specific destruction. Meaning it survives and is reusuable in a lot more circumstances. And that's even with buffing your creature(s).>Granted I havent played Majoras Mask so idk if thats what It actually doesIn Majora's Mask, it just reflects light. In Ocarina of Time, it reflects elemental attacks.Mirror Shield in MTG as a baseline is probably closer in flavor to what it actually does in game, granted its still probably weaker than what you're aiming for.

I can't wait for the K-Pop Demon Hunters set to become the best selling of all time and Hasbro finally fires all the wokeys and makes every set thereafter goonerbait.

How does this look, is there anything I should add or take out that you suggest? https://archidekt.com/decks/27415661/discard
>>98829616>how hard was it to reskin trostani or sen tripletsWe're talking about a dev team that admits it takes them 3 years to design a set. MaRo and co are a bunch of out of touch lazyass boomers that have no idea what's popular among nerds and normies. There was a lot of outcry in non-Chud magic forums/social media though about how there were no legends for the trio, not even nickname cards, so it is possible Hasbro will make the retards rush out a set for it as early as next year since a lot of the fandom were calling them idiots for not releasing an actual KPDH product when there's obviously massive demand for it.
>>98829633Needs wheels and unblockable effects.
>>98829553I doubt it, since wotc has a weird habit of never reprinting game changers
>>98826021>The player being affected chooses the order of replacement effects, so your opponent choose to either take (3×2)+2=8 damage or (3+2)×2=10 damage. Why would you go on the internet and lie like that?

>>98828851Reporting from 8 player tournamentPod 1 (against improved monoblack Gisa starter deck?, Miku GW tokens and UB Mirko)I just started to let people do their shit while I was trying to draw my engines for card advantage and target their permanents if needed. GW tokens started shitting some soldiers and centaurs tokens while I was protecting myself from the zombies. After setting my creatures and using political tools like Mangara and Firemane commando, i quickly filled my hand with answers. The UB dude got his mana rocks destroyed and in his desperation, he used crux of fate to reset the board. Fortunately I had duty beyond death to save my stuff. I went for the mirkofag while the selesnia dude finished the monoblack. Eowyn managed to exile her ghalta & mavren and game my legendaries protection from green and white to go on his face.
>>98828783Because landfall players love 20 minutes for their turns.I'm not even kidding, every faggot I've seen play that has brought the game to a screeching halt just to math out how much mana they have, only to never use it all because they have too much of it.
>>98829616We just got Trostani Miku.
dear wotc:please continue printing uw cute girlsyou can give them non-human sclera and leaves for hair, sure, but please make sure they have pretty faces. this is important. you can still print uggos and hags if you must, but print more like this, too. this is for your own good.
>>98828223>mayHow does rule when it's October?
>>98829341>>98829704The affected player of damage is the one taking it, so they get to choose. it might not be intuitive, but it's the rules
>>98829726>fighting landfall deckThat's cool, do you take 8 damage per land bro?
>>98829724Pod 2 (vs Cloud Naya equipments?, Yshtola Esper control and GW Miku) - Part 1At this point i knew the powerlevel went out of hand and I was probably fucked but I was not going to quit at this point.I kept a hand with 3 lands but then I started drawing lands for 4 straight turns and no protection spells. I dropped my commander on turn 3 but the Yshtola guy used some 3cmc BW instant that exiled my rokiric. The GW token I played against was keeping the naya guy at bay while I was getting overwhelmed by the control guy who kept killing my creatures and taxing me with a ghostly prison. At some point the GW player noticed Ysthola was draining too much life from all of us and decided to leave the naya dude alone and started attacking her, but an evacuation to return all the creatures and tokens into their owner's hands. In response to her evacuation I used Generous gift on his ghostly prison. On my turn I managed to land a four knocks to get an extra card each turn and finally assemble my army but after too much drain and attacks from the gw player, I had only 10 life points left and almost zero hope.
HOT TAKE:I think they should allow any permanent that transforms into a legal commander to be legal as commander. All of the ones I've looked at aren't broken in any fashion and you have to jump through a million hoops anyway to flip it. The only problem would be really if you only play the front side for value to never flip which is sort of lame but you can already play a Vehicle and never crew it so the same argument stands for those anyway. And I think this one makes more sense than the vehicle rule anyway
>>98829956nice here's my commander
>>98829969Not a creature
>>98829976it is on the back
>>98829944Pod 2 (vs Cloud Naya equipments?, Yshtola Esper control and GW Miku) - Part 2At this point knew I was screwed, but at least I wanted to take out the controlfag with me. After a couple of turns, I only had Rokiric, a 2/2 disguised creature, a 1/1 soldier and a 4/4 golem. The esper dude knowing everyone was going after him, used supreme verdict to clean the board but this time I had once again duty beyond death to buff my creature and save them. With 25 life points and only 3 creatures on the field, the esper guy was tapped but confident he would survive a cycle since a 4/2 rokiric, a 3/3 face down creature and a 5/5 golem token was not enough to kill him. >"I declare these 3 creatures as attackers, anything?">"I am good, so you hit me for 12 damage, right?">"I am not done. I pay for the disguise cost to face up this creature">"what does this card do?">"give double strike on my turn to my historic permanents. Rokiric and Bayek are legendary creatures and my Golem is an artifact, so he gets double strike as well"esper guy went silent for a few seconds>"judge... there is an issue here"store assistant had to explain he was receiving 26 dmg in the face, getting eliminated.I played a hero of precinct one and passed but the naya guy used blasphemous act and killed all my hopes of stabilize and died to the token guy a few turns later. So i ended 3rd place from 8 players and got some store credit and made a control player butthurt. Once again, Bayek, a card nobody gives a fuck about gave me this small victory.I am planning on buying an Elspeth, Storm slayer that is on sale at my lgs which would be a great addition to my deck (only buyable with store credit, kek).
