Who's your favorite niche minor/less important Warhammer Fantasy character and why?

I like Dietlef and his wife Genevieve because I can play them as posh bohemian dweebs who immortalize the players in prose. I also give Genevieve huge pale breasts and Dietlef likes to watch from the balcony. Yes, my games have ERP and yes it’s with Discord trannies.

I don’t really care about Warhammer characters and the Marvel-tier dramas around them. Just like my little dudes and the broad strokes that make them special.

Back to playing HE this week

List time:

High fucking elves
Archmage - L3 Elementalism, Lore Familiar, Sea Guard, Lothern Skycutter -295
Noble - Reaver Bow, Barded Horse, Lance, Full Plate, Shield, Pure of Heart- 140

20x Sea Guard - Full Command
6x Silver Helms - High Helm, Ring of Fury

8x Sisters of Averlorn - High Sister, Ruby Ring of Ruin

1099/1100

Archmage probably taking Elemental Spirit, Wind blast and something else. Just wants to fly around and annoy people. Noble wants to snipe annoying shit and get flank/ cleanup charges or seize objectives with the high helms depending on mission.

Had a chracian take on it but idk if I could design/print/assemble the components in time since I wanted to do some 3d modeling for the chariots.
>>
>>98836833
No comment on your list but one big thing I’ve noticed lately about TOW is how 2k+ has the same core units as most 750+ point armies, and all that gets added are a shit ton of heroes and monsters/warmachines.
>>
>>98836833
Forgot a Lothern Skycutter in the list because I'm a dumbass and can't copy paste.

>>98836840
True,
Unfortunately HE lists are DRAGON, DRAGON, support for dragon, support for dragon, mandatory core.

This means that below 1500ish you've got a lot of mediocrity to wrangle into a coherent form.

What fucking colors do they use to highlight the tomb cunt shields? I've been trying to get this effect for over two years and everything looks great until I get to the highlights and end up with a chalky mess.

If anyone has a base, glaze, chunky + edge highlight recipe I may not hang myself tonight.

I don't know the exact colors they're using obviously but I do mine by basecoating with AK archaic turquoise and edge highlighting with AK blue green and baharroth blue. I think it looks fairly close, if you want to do a darker gradient you can glaze something like stegadon scale green towards the shadows
>>
>>98836982
Because yin-yin isn't reliable
Because yuan bo wanted to get rid of miao ying for the time being so that he could solidify his control over cathay as the emperor is missing, since she's the only other significant voice of authority
Because defence from chaos invasions is miao ying's task, and the movements of chaos in the west are merely an extension of efforts to get around and through the north
Because miao ying is designed as the faction's postergirl and has to be the one involved in TOW since she has to be the one to get a model
>>
>>98837047
NTA but a lot of Bronze Age cultures covered everything in gold leaf, Tutankhamun's chariots were adorned in it for instance. Bronze can also look quite close to gold if it is polished and with low tin/lead or arsenic content.

>>
>>98837124
If you have the old models already finished I genuinely don’t see a point in getting the new ones. Aside from archers the models aren’t really useful in the table anyways, same for chariots.
>>
>>98837067

I have all of your photos from saved from previous threads.

I use AK too. Archaic Turquoise as a base, glazing Ocean Blue + Rhinox Hide into the shadows. Another good base is AK Turquoise + Aquatic Turquoise (1:1).

For the chunky highlight I use Archaic Turquoise with a tiny bit of Pale Yellow + Deep Sky Blue (1:1).

That all looks incredible, the problem is the edge highlight. As soon as I try to lighten the highlight color it starts looking ridiculous. I've tried every combination of tans, greys, blues, greens, everything. I can't get the crisp sandy or blue-white edge highlights that you see on the GW models.
>>
>>98837227
I played 8th edition Tomb Kings, I don't care if something isn't as good as it could be.
>>
>>98837121
Not personally sold on Tiranoc Chariots. The lack of Ap-2 on the impact hits significantly impedes its utility and it isn't durable enough or equipped with dangerous melee attacks to make up for that issue. Beastmen get a heavy chariot where the mounts also get ap2, has rerolls to 1 to hit, potentially frenzy, 4+ armor, and full reroll to charges for 10pts more.

Basic dudes get a 5+ or 4+ against a tiranoc and either a 6+ or no save against that. It's night and day for 10pts.
>>
>>98837258
It's mainly a unit I want to use to charge enemy flanks, I've never used chariots. It's also the only thing that fits at that points level
>>
>>98837227
I agree, it's all or nothing with the new models which is why I sold my old TK army in anticipation. If you have the old models they are great as an army just don't mix in the new ones.

I keep thinking Age of smegma should have some kind of sea/sky mode with all the levitating units. Like a map that's a bunch of mountains and the giants are walking towards a dwarf skyport and the sky dwarfs have to defend it. Lots of lost opportunities with that game.
>>
>>98837310
GW would probably need to make baggage cart models first
>>
>>98837310
>large enough ships to have warhammer warbands or regiments on them
>enough different ships for multiple, if not all, factions
you gotta do those yourself, no way in hell gw would ever do something like that unless they're just flat cardboard cutouts, but you can also do those yourself
the system also basically requires a whole parallel skirmish ruleset and games design direction to not turn the engagements into just a pointless mess
if I were to write one I'd try to force into the rules duel mechanics with highly dynamic hijinks, free for all fights, rules for stealing and carrying loot, and for corrupting the opponents' sailors with bribes

it just can't be done, man, you'd have to give me something like 3 months!
>>
>>98836781
>since they were jewish enough to remove points per model so they can kill the practice of converting normal models into heroes or the second hand market of incomplete units.

What is this PPM business?

Also mo matter what, whatever dwarfs Gw rleleases will probably be fucking huge and will look like giants compared to people's current collection.
>>
>>98837273
>If you have the old models they are great as an army just don't mix in the new ones.

Why??

Never understood this mentality. It's not even a new thing, people were doing it even 20 years ago.
People would abandon their old models for the new ones instead of integrating them together into a truly personalized collection/army.
Some people really only do hoby within GW's imposed limits.

A cohesive paint and basing will have most miniatures coexist happily together regardless of era, manufacturer and sculptors. Even in the same unit, nevermind the same army.
>>
>>98837553
in aos and 40k you don't have a point cost for individual models, instead you have point costs for the whole unit, so that you only take them in multiples of the number found in a box, say, 10 or 20, no in-between, not anything more, not anything less.

The result of this is that, for example, you can't just grab 2 units of 10 warriors, build 16 as warriors, and the other 4 as characters, or you'll have to play those 16 warriors on the table as if you were paying the points for 20 anyway, because people are retarded and can't do gentlemen agreements on simple points re-evaluations.
This sounds like an extremely small problem, but people are really so sheepish and have been conditioned to never convert their shit, the used market for understrength models is basically dead, and to keep going with the chaos warriors example, if you suggest taking TOW chaos warriors or knights you'll be met by dead stares because those come in multiples of 4s instead of 5s, so the units will always be understrength in that system.

This incompatibility between chaos warriors is likely intentional rather than accidental, and it's likely that if tow gets renewed dwarfs they might just come in boxes of 16 instead of 32 just to fuck with anyone who might want to take those to use as proxies for the uglier aos dwarfs.

Is there a Skaven clan specializing in jezzails/marksmanship? Like how Vrrtkn have the globadier gimmick and Ektrik like warp-lightning cannons?

Skryre. C'mon, man.

That's not their specialty. They do lots of things besides jezzails. I mean having jezzails as a subfocus. Skryre don't have that as their primary focus/gimmick the way Ektrik do.

A WD issue from a while back had rules for an aerial warfare mode of play. More like a simple minigame than an actual expansion, but it's something. They've done a few things like that in WD in the past year, like a minigame for chariot races.

I'd like a proper specialist game about ship battles, though. GW isn't really doing anything right now to scratch that itch.

It should
Especially the tops of the skulls/bones exposed to the sun.

It was reported of the skeletons of the egyptians and persians who died when the armies of Xsaca (the achaemenid empire) invaded Kemet (the late egyptian empire, I wanna the 26th dynasty?) oh I just checked google I'm right it is the 26th damn I'm good. Anyway the tops of the skulls and skeletons exposed to the desert sun are bleached white. However the persian skulls were frail, brittle and darker as the persians wore caps to protect their skulls while the egyptians were just freeballing in the desert sunlight.

So perhaps socially, the tops of the average skeleton warrior should be bleached/their bones bleached, while the royalty who are inside more should have darker bones.

At least this is my theory of bones for the tomb kings.

They gave them a dragon, and that's either because they're making a lot of dragons in general at gw or as reference to the ones in warmaster.
So they'll probably stay self referential and just dig up old stuff, like the concept of the hierotitan which began as a popular conversion and soft-official rules in 6th edition.

It would give them a way to keep a refreshed bone giant in the classic size category (and hopefully with the expanded options of bow and shield and great weapon), while also giving them a megagargant/cathay sentinel sized construct

>>98839667
what did Cruddace do wrong? I'd say that the TK sucking in 8th edition said more about 8th edition being awful than it did about his army book which was pretty good, I've even known people playing it in 6th ed.
>>
>>98839688
There was codex creep, an 8th edition book fitting amongst 6th ed rules isn't a good symptom.
It was pillow fisted and essentially went on only by abusing the new monstrous cavalry unit type and the spam of the ugliest parts of the range.
Not even the new monsters were good, and how much of a joke the armybook was became evident to everyone the moment the vampire counts got theirs.
>>
>>98839688
>I'd say that the TK sucking in 8th edition said more about 8th edition being awful
That seems like backward logic.
>>
>>98839688

In no particular order;

> Completely fucking up their magic system
6E TK magic was absolutely iconic and completely integral to their entire army, so naturally the whole system was removed. Not only did they lose their identity, but they were saddled with the *mandatory* Lore of Nehekhara that was just shit in comparison to Light/Death, to the point where running 2x Level 4 wizards was common.

> Fucking up the Undead rules
This was mostly in comparison to the later VC book, but TK could never march, couldn't stand & shoot and their healing was gimped. 8E also massively increased the amount of combat resolution being thrown around without changing how Undead crumble works, so tarpit infantry became a massive liability.

> Horrendous internal balance
Compare the NecroKnights against Ushabti or Tomb Scorpions as an example. It didn't help that a lot of the must-haves were completely new kits so existing players had to expand their army to keep up.

> Several glaring weaknesses
The army is completely held up by a single wizard, lets keep him ali- Oh no, Purple Sun.
All our armour-piercing is tied to Killing Blo- Oh no, Monstrous Cavalry spam.
Animated Constructs not being able to support friendly units without fear of exploding to combat rez. Your Hierophant having no purpose beyond IF bubble Smite and hoping he survives the Miscast. Having the worst BSB in the game. It Came From Below being a massive liability.

Apart from adding new units it was a straight downgrade for fun and theme, the dude just did not get the army at all.
>>
>>98839710
I'd argue that its backwards logic to claim the core rules of 8th edition sucks because of one faction's rules, but there you go.

>>98839704
>codex creep
so a book that didn't follow the creep was the problem? It was also the first book in 8th edition and was far more conservative than later books, if they stayed in line with it then it would've been fine. Also as the first book it was before the edition had been tested and it clearly was a victim of their design expectations going into 8th which turned out to be totally wrong, like monsters being good due to the thunderstomp addition when in reality they were overcosted and beaten by infantry.

>abusing the monstrous cavalry unit type
again that was because of 8th edition encouraging it as 'new thing' and they were never OP units.

>spam ugliest parts of the range
yes believe it or not the 8th edition writers didn't think they'd made infantry OP, they thought they were merely letting it catch up after it had become so shit in 7th.

This is why community feedback is more often than not worthless, blame is put on the wrong aspects for the wrong reasons because of surface level reasoning. You are literally arguing that it was a bad book because the rules weren't broken and exploiting broken core mechanics of 8th edition unlike the VC which are the WORST offenders, probably the most broken faction in the games history.

it's pretty broad so it covers both Pampas which is savannah-esque grasslands that are presumably the closest to the Chulchan Plains, and Patagonia which is a colder grassland region to the south.
The temple city described in that adventure hook is right on Lustria's south coast and gets constant winds from the southern Chaos Wastes so the south tip would hardly be a tropical grassland environment
>>
>>98840274
The Elves maintain a trade port on the southern tip, and it's not described as being particularly rampant with mutation.

Though I have an issue with an established Elvish trade port in Lustria in general, so I could chalk it up as fanon. I think if there's any grand sin associated with Lustria, it's that there is not a Caribbean equivalent. Between the haunting mainland, the legends of unfathomable wealth within the jungles, and a literal faction of vampire buccaneers, the region desperately needs a cluster of well-established and valuable islands occupied by the various nations of Man (and maybe Dwarf!) so PCs can actually exist around Lustria.

That's 8thfag cope. I think there's also a bit of converging factors when it comes to people not buying WFB in 8th. Fact of the matter is no one was buying anything because 8th bloated units into 30+ model death stars, and a lot of people who would have otherwise played Tomb Kings were priced out. The "erm actually it's because people didn't like the models" is misguided. If that's true then no one liked any WFB models across all of the factions.

Why would you ever want VC out of legends? They're SO good as a Legacy army and don't have to worry about an ugly range refresh from nuGW whilst simultaneously having worse (but still acceptable, just don't fit the WFB aesthetic) AoS proxies in the form of AoS skeletons. In fact, the only problem VC have is that some faggot ecelebs push a nerf to them that 60% of players and tourneys seem to accept without question, which is gay but not a problem with VCs.

>If that's true then no one liked any WFB models across all of the factions.
No, the tomb king skeletons were especially bad compared to many other core units, were already outdated at the time of the first armybook's release because they were a repurposed sprue from vampire counts, and vampire counts coming out not too long afterwards with much better looking skeletons definitely soured people's opinions on the kings' ones, who were simply lagging behind and significantly so

Old is not automatically good, the charming cartoony aesthetic doesn't work if everything else around has moved in a different direction, including all metal tomb kings

New players WERE turned off of TKs because of the models, forum goers also recognised it, you're running some weird ass revisionist bullshit and missed the fact that there are very real reasons why people didn't like the old models, while you are the one proposing the opposite spiel as if age alone was an assurance of quality, it wasn't, the skeletons were bad.
People are happy they've been replaced, this was long awaited and long requested, if you can't see it or accept it it's because you have forgotten the feeling of static grass in your hand.

This. We are very cozy in legends.
GW can't directly nerf the good things about the army, and the few USRs they have changed (regen, parry) have actually been for the better.
We've got a really good range of models, historically speaking, and lots of great 3rd party alternatives. Our army has variety in playstyle, from super fluffy to full waacshit with very little in regards to useless units.
Going back to core would mean getting s bunch of unnecessary, overdesigned and overcosted kits, three months of op rules followed by a big nerf and a lot of bitching. Not worth it.

The fact you think the 8th Dark Elf sculpts are good is honestly ludicrous to me. They're so ugly and almost proto-AoS aesthetics. Very nearly monopose unlike the 6th plastics. Latest plastic HE Sea Guard, Swordmasters, and Phoenix Guard have the same problem. Just not as good as the 6th plastics/metal special units.

And I'm supposed to believe you're some grizzled old grognard? No you larping retard, whfb was struggling long before 8th. That bloating didn't just come out of nowhere, it was an attempt by gw to squeeze more money out of the existing playerbase.
>>
>>98842510
>whfb was struggling long before 8th
Different anon but disagreed. People talk a lot of shit on 7th but honestly it was the peak of people actually playing WFB in a way that competed for table space at the LGS with 40k. Sure, 6th was better and 7th had broken shit army books, but it was very popular and 8th's terrible rules and decline were what prompted GW to do the End Times.
>>
>>98842414
I really like these, yeah.
My honest reason why I hate high and dark elves so much is just that they look so boring and samey. Pelts aren’t enough, you need to incorporate different armor types.
>>
>>98842535
Being boring and same-y are exactly why the newer Dark Elf and High Elf plastics suck. They have the Eldar problem where all of the new plastics are just Guardians with different guns. This happened with Phoenix Guard and Island of Blood Swordmasters, too, where they literally have spearmen armor with a couple things added. 6th Edition HE/DE plastics differed from their metal counterparts with different armor and accoutrements and were great. I have no idea why people want new spearmen or archers because they'll just look more homogenized instead of great like they currently do as a multipose kit.

8th was the symptom, not the disease.
>>
>>98842618
>You may need movement trays that convert your base sizes to the new larger standard.
What's cool about 20mm bases and using conversion trays is that you can measure from the movement tray itself. Old World rules stipulate that you should measure from the model's base and ignore the tray, but if you're using old minis on 25mm conversion trays then you don't have to pay attention to that shit and can just measure from your precisely-cut movement tray as if it's not there at all.

Everyone should base their armies for WFB even if they play Old World.
>>
>>98842739

I don't think that if GW keot fantasy and had 9th edition be "6th ed with new models" the situation would have been much different.

The fact is whfb would have never been as successful as GW wanted it to be. RnF games in general aren't that popular.

ToW benefits from 3 main things.

-it had 10 years of pent-up demand for something that was technically unavailable (sure many players kept playing, but the vast majority of people in this hobby are consumers not hobbyists, so if GW isn't selling it, they aren't participating in the hobby).

-it had TW:W be EXTREMELY successful. I don't think it's addressed enough how much of an influence this had on people wanting to buy stuff

- GW has now completely different and more realistic expectations on what Fantasy should achieve financially, relegating it to a specialist game.

Add also the fact that today's GW is a completely different beast from Kirby's era GW and I'm sure that t
TOW would have been successful even if it haopened to be just 8th edition again.

all of the nobility in the Empire is pretty much autonomous, things like raising regiments are described as being voluntary and the same goes for second sons joining knightly orders. I'd say that Averland is probably where the nobility are most free from duties or control, other states have more specific roles like Stirland patrolling the Sylvania border etc.
>>
>>98843144
the skeletons themsleves aren't that bad, the actual problem is the hand weapons wich look like shit, if you build them with lances they are ok

if they actually had a lot more more 'egypt bits' it would have been a great kit, the shields are better than the round ones, they just needed to put enough kopeshes in there for the full unit and some bits of armor and bling

>>
>>98844899
Ballemarces are pretty bad in value
>>
>>98844899
Of the Battalion boxes, probably the Empire, wood elf, Cathay Beastmen or WoC(if you prefer the older models) are the best value for money to points but there
>>
>>98844899
Orcs & Goblins and High Elves are the worst value, everything else is at least ok. Warriors of Chaos, Cathay and Beastmen and maybe Wood Elves boxes will get you the furthest towards a full army.
Generally the batallions are good for getting a whole bunch of core infantry to build from, whereas the battle march boxes get you actually playing small format games faster. So the Empire batallion for example will give you a shitload of state troops and a steam tank, which on their own are not really playable, but the value is pretty good if you wanted all those models anyway.

They look good and offer a good amount of plastic for money. However, from what I understand the weapon options are locked, no build options? So that can be annoying if you want a a few blocks of night goblin spears and are stuck with only 20 while the other unit is 20 axes, archers and nets. But I suppose not much of an issue since you can just put them in back rank and keep the loadout of what you actually want to run in the front. Bigger issue for the Dwarf box where the infantry only has HW & shield, no option for GW.
All are good picks, except the Dwarf box which is meh. Since you have 3 canons. If one was swapped out for an organ gun or grudge thrower would have been better. It seems that you can only run 40 HW & Shield warriors. a bit overdone on missle troops.

As soon as wave 2 plastics come in for TK you could pick up the remaining third for £70 most likely. It is nowhere near the value of 3D printed armies and whether you like the minis or not they are worthless and not saleable once you have them.
>>
is 3D printing Total Warhammer models feasible yet?

You can but it's not really worth it: game models are mesh with textures applied and you'll only print the mesh part so it's going to be low details.
>>
>>98845481
You'll have to jump on Telegram and grab some of Emang's old .stl's. As >>98845553 said the meshes on their own arent print ready, but this guy was getting them edited to be printable and they came out pretty good. He tried to do a Patreon for it and GW C&D'd him, which is too bad. He had done most of the skaven and demon rosters.

>Dark Elf army: https://maxminishop.com/collections/army-deals/products/desert-elves-army (NOTE unlike the others, it's a big departure from their aesthetic since they are egyptian themed, but they represent all of their units and characters)
That box is almost 3.2K points of Dark Elves and that's with everything naked apart from giving the infantry full command and the supreme sorc comes on a cold one mount.
And this is also meant to proxy High Elves, not just Dark Elves.
https://maxminishop.com/collections/fantasy-elves
The Lynx Warriors for example are White Lion stand ins. You have stand ins for skycutters, phoenixes etc. as well.
So if you don't mind it and didn't plan on styling them in a certain way, you could get some Helf & Delf specific extras from their shop like Hydras, harpies, medusa, blood shrine etc. for DE and specific stuff for HE from their shop and have 2 armies in one. Assuming WYSIWYG matters here
>>
>>98845544
then by all means get them I was purely looking at it as a value proposition. Sometimes people look for short term savings whether they like the stuff or not and end up with a heap of stuff they can't shift. I know a fair few meta chasers who've ended up with mountains of third party, historical and 3d printed stuff they can't shift and they regret it even at the lower prices they paid.
>>
>>98844899
The Orcs & Goblins Battle March is the best one. Everything is good, even Wolf Riders. If you get 2 you have a really solid army core (though end up with one extra goblin shaman you don’t really need), and then can buy some squigs or catapults or trolls or Black Orcs to round things out. O&G battle march is online only tho.
>>
>>98845884
Nta, but I sincerely find the meta mindset disgusting. They really have no commitment to the game other than winning. There is no enjoyment of the painting and modelling, no interest in storytelling, no projects started out of sheer interest in the miniatures or lore.
It's all bulk buys, bulk assemblies and bulk painting, just to end up bulk selling the whole thing months later after the new hot thing comes out.
The "value" mindset is also equally disgusting. Thinking about your hobby in regards of reselling value, points per pound and long time investment brings you down to the level of any funko, pokenon or mtg faggot.
Those people enjoye miniatures gaming despite the miniatures themselves; they're more of a paperwork than the very meat of the hobby.

They have to be that way though, for the same reason the Empire's technology can't advance beyond early flintlocks and the Dwarfs have to find hyperconservative excuses to avoid using the internal combustion engines they've had for centuries - going past that tipping point irrevocably changes how the setting works. Anything more than a few trading posts for treasure hunters and explorers barely clinging on in the face of a continent that wants to eat your face must, inevitably, lead to the whole colonial system and everything that entails: Estalia becoming the dominant power in the Old World, a slave trade to provide the labour to establish the new world colonies quickly(GW would avoid a timeline advance to avoid dealing with this one alone), more advanced human navies that could contend with the High Elves further eroding their only real remaining influence on the human world, Old World armies large enough and with sufficient logistics to actually make a serious dent in the Lizardmen's dominance of the jungle etc etc etc.

There are just too many implications.
>>
>>98845994
Not really part of the discussion either but agreed on both counts. When I saw the resale talk in passing I just rolled my eyes. There is this whole segment of GW customer (not wargamer) who thinks British plastic is some kind of asset to flip when you’re done with it. Just disgusts me. And as for meta lists, well, that’s now really how GW has designed the game. Some people try hard to turn TOW into a 40k like metashifting min max slop game with the different “comp packs” that change the game entirely, but that’s not the norm. I’ve never seen anyone go “oh man I need to buy the latest Fantasy meta spam” in my entire WFB career except maybe in 8th, and today it’s mostly a strawman used to justify discussions of nerfs that need to happen despite the fact GW doesn’t update this game on the same schedule as 40k or AoS.

if BL lore is anything to by, its getting cucked and falling for their "squires".
>>
I like playing events. Not because I’m a WAACfag or anything, but simply because it’s much easier as an adult to justify a planned weekend to my family than it is to hop down to the store on any given WFB night. I’ve noticed my area is pretty great in that they allow proxy minis and are all pretty nice not WAACfaggot tier people. But all of the abundant events around me use Renegades and GermanComp and I fucking hate it. I just want to play The Old World, not some fucking fanboy’s idea of balance. Like, I commend people for making house rules, that’s the essence of wargaming, but there’s never been any discussion as to whether we should adopt some other guy’s rules and the TOs do it unilaterally.
>>
>>98845994
oh I agree with you for those reasons alone, but in terms of value the point is that you shouldn't settle for models you don't like because they are cheaper because you don't actually lose money on good or in demand models. Also reselling is one way to make the hobby self sustaining and especially in Old World with all the updated kits coming it is a great way of paying for your army refresh. I suspect 90% of the bitching about the new TK sculpts is from people saddled with the old skeletons because they weren't smart enough to sell them months ago and buy the refresh.
>>
>>98846112
>I suspect 90% of the bitching about the new TK sculpts is from people saddled with the old skeletons because they weren't smart enough to sell them months ago and buy the refresh.
Its less that and more that Its a pain in the ass that GW wont be keeping stock of the superior kits anymore that arent subject to shrinkflation.
>>
>>98840596
Yeah, I see that too with the composition of the painting and the details on it, though it's probably not AI and the artist just didn't bother rendering the minor background characters in much detail
Pic, I think, is from the same artist and also has a similar uncanniness to it, but you argue it makes more sense due to the character being caught in a rainstorm, which is why they're so shiny

Man these are fucking great, shame they did the hafling meme shit for the other armies. Would love to get some cheap minis for a Vampire Counts or Empire for this price.

No, I disagree with you on that.
The digital artwork of 3e looks very of its time (early 2010s); the wrecker point artwork looks very modern, if that makes sense pic is some artwork from i think 3e Enemy Within Adventure

>>98846127
What shrinkflation? The old skeleton kit is 36 miniatures. The new skeleton kits are also 36 miniatures. It’s the same number of minis for the same price, but brand new

But why "saddled" and why well them?
there's no greater pleasure than having a collection grow and integrate new models with the old.
And if they didn't like the skeletons then why buy them in the first place?

Fuck even when I had just started 25+ years ago, i always envied older player's armies that had both the same models i had and older ones before my time.

/vg/ actually. Among other things, it's because the Total Warhammer series (along with the Vermintide games) revitalized the setting, and introduced the Fantasy world to a younger - more memetically proficient - demographic.

Unironically considering buying the bundle for the desert elf proxies. Looked up some vids, they look cool. Paintjob shown on site makes them look a bit worse. Only thing I dislike are the chariots and the Black/Phoenix guard halberds.
What color scheme would you anons suggest for these regarding armor/clothes? And how would you do the skin - brownish or would you do them pale/normal caucasian/something else?

Because they're shit, and everyone's known and acknowledged they were shit almost from the moment they were released, through multiple editions of not getting refreshed while VC got great updates, through to everyone pointing out that GW weren't going to get a huge influx of TK players for TOW because they republished the same shitty 90's fucking skeleton sculpts. It's only now that GW are finally fixing the range that the contrarian boy buggering poofters are coming out of the woodwork to pretend that literally the worst skeleton miniatures produced by any company at any point in the last 35 years ArE GoOD AcTuAllY.

Despite that, some people decided that GW obviously weren't going to update the range if they republished the same fucking awful old ones and that even if they did, they'd be trash as well given the Foot Knights they did for Bretonnia, so they gave in and bought armies of the shit ones. Now GW are updating TK, they're fucking awesome, and they have buyer's remorse but are too fucking petty to just admit they played themselves and so are trying to psyop everyone into thinking these shitty sculpts are beloved classics, either for the benefit of their own fragile psyches or because they're hoping they can dupe speculatorshits into buying them to resell as "CLASSIC OOP ORIGINAL TOMB KINGS" on ebay.

NTA, but that about sums up why dumbasses are pretending to like them.

>>98847870
I play TK and VC and like both old TK skeletons and the VC refresh. They both appeal to me more than the nuGW ones recently announced too. Typical nuGW overdetailing.
>>
>>98846062
I think most just become normal lords, I mean the King is pretty much always a grail knight right? I know some become protectors of grail shrines, so they pretty much just become hermit monk knights.

It is, very nice to have an option for “quick” and fun games.

>>98846987
They were okay. I was facing off against a Old World beginner and decided to just charge his ranks head on to explain a few rules and whatnot. But they took down a few of his basic infantry before losing combat, falling back in good order (he rolled low so combat wasn’t joined again) and then I choose to flee with them as they were charged by him this time with only around 4” between them. After that they kept on fleeing.

So if I want a dwarf lord on shield and I do not want the dogshit gw one, that doesnt match the rest of my army and is like twice as tall as the unit he is meant to join, what are even my options ? Third party market has been decimated by tow and economic reality.
>>
>>98846921
Lighter blue and make the skin tone a lighter tan. Imo this looks good already.
You could do the Delf or Helf Iconic color schemes along with making them either pale or fair skinned caucasian. If you want to style after those armies. Making the gold bits silver and the cloth white or purple. Would work as well.
Not that much mini variation so you could also try and make cloth different colors along with hair and slight skin tone variations.
