What's "new" about necrons these days? My introduction to them was via the dawn of war titles and I knew their fluff had changed a little, with them enslaving the c'tan now but I see stuff about them having personalities now and I don't exactly follow since I thought the whole biotransfer thing made them into mindless killing automatons

GW needs to stop with these massive battleforces. People aren't going to fork out £140/160$+ for them even if they have lots of good models in them. They end up being paperweights in local stores. There is a psychological barrier to how much someone is going to spend on an upcoming thing unless they really, really want that specific thing. Putting stuff into the 100s puts people off. There is also the fact that many people won't feel comfortable getting a lot of models as they might want to 'dip' into an army They should do smaller collections with maybe 3 different units and make them around a particular theme. For example:10 Kabalites/wyches, 1 archon/wych leader thing, 1 boat.1 sentinel, 1 cadian recon team, 1 Hippogryff ATFTervigon, 20 termagants

How's this battle plan?Kataphrons to the front, Rangers at the back, Dunecrawlers at the center, Ballistarii on the sides, Infiltrators in the back. Plus Pteraxii / Sterilizors where convenient.Sadly Kataphrons are essentially add-ons to the codex, supported only by Engineers (no transport). Sure, the Imperium is more overtly religious than it was before, but the Emperor wanted to be treated as a god in all but name even while he was walking around. He demanded unquestioning obedience and subservience, and was prone to grand displays of capricious punishment set upon entire worlds for the sins of singular men. He dictated fate and was fond of ornate palaces that were temples in all but name to his glory.And as for society, at no point do we ever get the sense that the Imperium as we see it isn't to his liking. Keep in mind, none of the Primarchs actually make the effort to make life decent for their people. Even Guilliman only bothers to make Ultramar have an average lifespan for his people go up to their mid-30's. The Imperium was about one thing: tribute. Everything else didn't matter to the Emperor.
I played my first warhammer game in kill team game the other day with Mandrakes. I thought it was pretty fun. They are way more fragile than I thought, I wasn't aware how many wounds is normal so my guys having 8 meant most died to a stiff breeze if I positioned wrong. But the flip side of that, is they did a shitton of damage. A unit with apl 2 can only save on 2 and 1 when I'm shooting them. The app kinda sucks though, I hated having to constantly go back and forth for rules text and I probably forgot to use ploys and faction equipment

Looking for an opinion for this warboss' base decoration. I originally wanted a dead marine on it, but now that I'm looking at it I feel like it may be too distracting from the main model. What looks best, dead marine (facing up or down), or no dead marine. I'll probably put an empty helmet, or broken bolter or something there instead if I don't do a full marine.

Why are people so obsessive over white paints? I know most of them suck and I know why they suck on a chemical level, but I never got the fixation on “the best white paint.”When painting white I find that pure white is rarely ever necessary. When it is necessary the quality never really matters much since you’re using such a small amount on a tiny highlight or just painting a corner of an eye. Most of the time colors like deck tan or grey seer or ghost white get me 90% of the way there. Any other hobby anons want to weigh in here? People are buying out the pro acryl and citadel pro pure white paints and I just don’t get it. I don’t mean to sound like an asshole but painting a purity seal or piece of paper pure white over primer is kind of a hobby-let move. There are way easier and better looking ways to get “white” results

It's actually pretty liberating when you play a less popular and less supported army and you just accept GW considers you second class citizens, so you can just decline games with orks/marines/custodes and only play against other second class citizens who don't have updated codex yet. Your games are more fair.You can just ask "what'cha bring today?" and if they say orks, marines, or custodes you can just say "ah I'm not prepared to play those" or something along those lines. You don't have to. This may be stating the obvious to some but to me it was a realization. GW has a caste system for who they care about and you shouldn't mingle outside your caste. Just like the various real life caste systems.

The unit charging a Psyker unit even as tough as a Terminator block will punch way above their points killing something like 4 termies on average, almost 5 with the sustained Strat. Into something like VanVets they kill 8 and into 6 man BGV they kill 2 (accounting for -1 to hit) but on the clap back they only kill maybe 4 sisters also due to their -1 to hit. That's really good for 155pts.
