It warps the metagame around itself and inadvertently pushes out both fair creature decks and other unfair or fair graveyard decks that are less powerful than it. The deck is still playable with a slightly different build, but it's often a turn slower or otherwise less consistent. THEY attacked a Cardassian planet first, filling its atmosphere with Cardassian-specfic poison, hoping to reclaim it for themselves. Sisko went "oh buddy, you guys are doing this now? Looking for some Vintage advice, please. I'm going to EW Asia and this is the list I have planned. The Oath matchup feels very difficult and I'm not sure if I should write it off as a matchup I will probably lose, or try to find something for the sideboard; the problem is there are so many angles of attack that Containment Priest is really the only option; Cage seems too easy for Oko or S&T to deal with, Hallowed Moonlight dies to countermagic etc.. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the last 2 or 3 slots; Firetruck seemed to say he doesn't think it's worth running Leyline of the Void at the moment but I can't tell if he's messing around. I'm not sure if it's relevant enough against Countervine to justify. I'd like to just stick to more Archons but I imagine most Countervine players would be boarding in Pyrokinesis against me anyway. The current mapping is something like thisArchon - Any Bazaar, InitiativeContainment Priest - Dredge, Oath, maybe ScamLight of Day - Lurrus control, maybe Oath and DredgeNull Rod - Any non-sphere shops, Lurrus PO, maybe DoomsdaySwords - Any shops, any Bazaar, Lurrus Control, BUG, Initiative
>>98893959https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7971090#paperPlayable. Not tier 0 and not format ruining, but playable. Lively Dirge lets you get Spy in play for 5 mana, so you've got 4 hits for 4 mana and 4 for 5 in the deck. And that's all this shit deck deserves to be in legacy, the informer ban was a long time coming. It's not enjoyable to play against this deck no matter what deck you are playing, it's a t0 interaction check and nothing more.

People aren't going to play it in challenges anymore because most people who did trend hopped to the latest grinder hotness and only diehards like myself and Faultedform still play it; I don't play online and Faulted probably has too much irl stuff going on.What bothers me the most is the same people complaining about the deck see nothing wrong with the revolving door of Tempo threats that they seem to power creep every set, nothing wrong with Tamiyo, Barrowgoyf or Ring, and refuse to acknowledge how much cheap or free interaction there is now and especially in more than just blue; Flute, MBT, Faerie Macabre, Surgical, Leyline of the Void, Endurance, Consign, Stifle, Spell Pierce, FoN etc. The other thing I note is that these people also compare the deck to a slot machine and say conventional decks are like poker, when I think Oops embodies the poker aspect of the game more than the others. I have won countless games by keeping average 7s while my opponent desperately mulls down, showing weakness, instead of keeping 7 and bluffing interaction.
Fuck me, it's looking more and more unlikely we won't get Q as a planeswalker. What the fuck is this? Of all the different options him as a FAIRY COMMANDER is the last thing I expected. What the actual fuck is wrong with those fucking faggots at WoTC?

>>98895165>This is actual art on a magic card, in year of our lord 2026hey. somebody worked really hard painting that picture. (whatever it is lol)ever since the beginning I have always wondered how they get the art on the cards. do they pick from catalogs? offer notes to artists before they start? give feedback after they're done? rejected? do it over? there's so many pieces of art. it seems massively complicated. a lot of them seem like "meh, good enough... next!" even though they are very complicated art paintings, they could have been... better?and in the end, the big art is so tiny on the card!
WotC uses AI already, time to deal with it
>>98895230yes they give lots of precise directions to the artists, they describe the artwork they want in detailand quality is a secondary concern compared to sameness. they want all cards to have the same realistic style (not counting special ones in other styles)

>>98895667You can't say "wicker", that's our word. You can say "wicka".
>>98895541>>98895585I think I've done a pretty alright job with the graphic design, giving the card frames and interface and so on a pleasant and cohesive visual style. For art, the game uses real world history as its subject matter so I've just drawn on actual public domain imagery and stuck to what I can depict with that. Means the imagery is pretty scattershot, everything from black and white photos to renaissance paintings to art deco murals to ancient pottery figures, which I think some people are put off by, but hopefully not everyone. I personally quite enjoy the strange smorgasbord of card art, it feels right and I think there's value in presenting primary sources with minimal distortion.

I like this picture and I wanted to ask if Manabond is still played in Legacy. (There's something charming in dumping entire hand of lands to battlefield in first turn.)
>>98897157Lands as a whole seem to be on a bit of a downswing metashare wise in legacy. But the format is relatively slow right now honestly, and mostly composed of decks that lands decks tend to feed upon, so some variation of 8mulch is probably still playable. 8mulch would be the only thing that would want manabond i think, in most depths lists you just dont have the land density to utilize it well (and you have spells you want to be casting)
As a newfag, should I try building a deck out of the Foundations Starter Collection itself, or just find shit that uses cards from this set, or just ignore it entirely? The reason I'm thinking of this collection thing is because I understand Foundations is supposed to last till 2029.Actually, I guess a better question is can a non-retarded deck even be made purely from this box?

>>98898639It's so stupid this thing is $2,000. Who even pays that much money for this, card games are supposed to be fun and played with. The whole Magic economy is messed up.I have like $600 on cardsphere at the moment just from trading out cards from my collection and I thought about turning it into a dual land but like, what even am I doing at this point. That's so much money it makes me sick.
>>98898802When I see how the price of old cards has skyrocketed since I started playing 20+ years ago I'm both shocked and disgusted. But then I see how an ugly as fuck smaug card that released a couple months ago is worth two unlimited or one beta black lotus and I don't even know what to say anymore. The prices on modern chase cards are absolutely insane.
>>98898802Honestly the only reason to own true duals at this point is if you're playing in eternal weekend. Any other juncture where you could use a true dual you could either choose not to and be fine or use proxies, and you'd be much better off for it. It'd be better to buy like multiple pauper decks, or a lot of cards for a cube or other novelty projects like dandan, or most of a deck for a format (besides true duals) than to buy a dual. Most paper legacy tournaments besides eternal weekend allow proxies.Truly I wish magic (and hell, even other tabletop games like warhammer) could be played for incredibly cheap by anyone who wants to above even the idea of keeping UB out of the game, but it's almost certainly never going to happen officially. Certainly not with things like the reserved list existing and being respected. But we play with the card we're dealt, I guess.
>>98898802Juzam has been crazy expensive since I started playing. I guess back then it was still basically the best creature that had been printed so it was at least justified somewhat, but now I think it's played just in Old School 93-94 and is otherwise only a collector piece from mtg history. I'd love to get into these old limited time frame formats but I have better things to do with the 10s of thousands of dollars it would take to put together a deck. I have a couple premodern decks I was able to build for decent prices since I got in early on the format and in some cases just already had the cards I needed like Dreadnought. But even for premodern the prices jumped on a some cards so much that it would be hard to justify buying into the format now. I paid less than $30 for a set of mint Cursed Scrolls a couple years ago and now they're all well over $100 each.
