>the only vehicles in the Agents roster are transports and the Corvus Blackstar
>the infantry they have is underwhelming across the board
>only 29 datasheets, with 9 of them being 1/1 limited characters

It's Imperium soup of everything that GW wanted to make but didn't want to actually support.

First two codices of 2027are Tau then Drukhari

Tau are getting new Crisis Suits and Broadsides. Broadsides are getting a glowup, no new weapon options. Crisis suits are becoming a lot more elite, expect to see roughly half as many on the table. New crisis suits have an onager gauntlet option.
Experimental tech becomes a bigger theme for Tau, a lot of units are good at shooting with decent mobility. A lot of suit units have better profiles with both the Hazardous and One-Shot keywords. Most tau guns are gaining some AP. Fewer rerolls, a lot more mobility, but again, it's experimental so you have to roll battleshock on your move shoot move and if you fail your unit loses access and takes mortals. Most suits get twin-lance style melee where there are select gun profiles they can use, but it's WS6, sustained. Detachments for more experimental weapons, autopass hazardous tests, and are more generalist instead of being BR reliant
Rumor Engine is Broadside Railgun
Drones still tokens.

Drukhari get Vect, a large boat that is essentially a diet tantallus, and Trueborn multikit with Kabalite Warriors. They come with an elf-wide update similar to the marine codex, basically elves remain as squishy, but get 'Fleet of Foot', which is basically a choice per unit per battleround of move shoot move, adv + charge, reactive on infantry only, or for vehicles a 4++ invuln but they can only snapshoot. Druk have Pain Tokens with advanced profiles. The entire army is like 90% hunter profiles now, Haywire is anti-vehicle 4+ devwounds on hunter and much weaker into other units. Poison is hunter-nonvehicle, anti-non-vehicle 3+ and most are going up AP or shotcount. Most epic heroes are more than doubling in price but now hit similarly to primarchs offensively. Covens still neglected. Blasters and Dark Lances are getting hunter profiles for vehicles with dev wounds. Army is more expensive and most options are worse into general targets, but much, much better into their specific targets.

My problem isn't the opportunistic whores, my problem is the weak willed betas that bend over and allow the setting to be change to accommodate them. We've already seen the ramifications of letting performative males and feminists screw with other IPs. Can anyone here unironically say they like shit like Erda, or outside of a gooner context Transtodes and how GW straight up lied, or how SoB are having testosterone slipped into them like they're on HRT? Once they get bored and leave we'll be left with a shattered clown setting for the funny plastic men painted lovingly and with utter fucking hate by old neckbeards who've lived their entire lives with 40k.

GW's handling of it is cheap and shitty though. Their first rounds of animations were animated overpriced powerpoints, then when they got assmad everyone made fun of them they nuked content creators, especially on youtube, with CaDs orders, getting channels locked and deleted. Only the top creators were given a contract deal to work under the direct preview of GW. When they finally shat out phase two of their anims, it looked like something a lazy blender animator could make in a week. It did get better when they forcibly snagged the Astartes guy and hired some Maya artists, but they're still cheap retards that will do the bare minimum while charging people out the ass. The SFM 40k animations blow these people out of the water 9 times out of 10, and for free.

Painting with what? Acrylics should be ok, other oils will definitely be ok but you might risk reactivation. 36 hours in proper temps with airflow should be more than ok. Depends on what paint and color you used for the wash. I mix a bit of dry accelerator/medium in with my oil washes to make sure they dry, but some colors just take longer.

Global forever cost of living pressures mean that people can't afford the entry to 40k
GW wants people buying new models to make money
They refresh things that don't need it and up the point values and add wargear so new players don't have to buy as much for an army but new players also feel pressured to rebuy their armies, which makes the game 'cheaper' while also getting more people to rebuy perfectly good models.

I have no problem with this, he looks like a rouge trader or potentially a planetary governor. My problem is when things like gene seed overriding your genetic DNA is ignored in the name of the god of diversity or when every Imperial Guard officer is a strong waman, or when regiments magically have the ethnic diversity of a modern day metropolitan American city, because those weren't done in service to the setting, they were done in service to IRL liberal politics. No one complains about Inquisitor Mordecai Toth.

Usually dry next day. That's a mineral color that catalyzes the oxidation of the base oil. Just make sure you put the mini somewhere open to dry afterwards. You could put a little fan on them if you really need it to be dry but it should be fine.

It's an IdPol thing, you'd have to understand the intersectional worldview to understand why they do this.
It requires a lot of doublethink and hypocrisy, I don't suggest reading into it and rejecting it outright instead. Any worldview that requires un-learning dictionary definitions and relying on dialectics and circular logic is not sound.

actually their infantry is extremely good, like genuinely S tier, subductors are bonkers good. I think the problem with agents was actually not the book itself but the marketing. If GW had marketed the book as "the home for all your allies" instead "the first entirely new faction for 10th edition" the disappointment would have been significantly less. the problem is GW is weirdly incompetent at everything. like, STRANGELY bad at everything business related. if you have ever watched the sound continuously cut out of their live streams you understand how bad they are at everything that isn't art.

So... no one told their marketing team "sell this as a bonus supplement". So the marketing team marketed it as a full army. To a noob in marketing who doesn't play the game and understand allies how are they supposed to know its only meant to be in army in the most vague, casual u supported, bonus extra fun sense and not actually a serious project?

Then compound the fact they are bad at writing rules AND squatting an entire army in Deathwatch and you get an absolute disaster.

That works if you're writing about actual real life cultures and histories, but when you start inventing specifically black planets where we keep all the black people you can't really avoid being seen as a racist piece of shit company. It's not defensible as realistic, it just caters to the preferences of a particular part of the audience. Humanity spread across the stars and decided to segregate where they settled? The particular biomes were all far more uniform than Earth and eliminated all but a single race?

>infantry is extremely good
They still lack serious anti-vehicle options. SoB have the same problem, but at least SoB have the Vahlgons crutch keeping them standing on one leg.
3+ saves and 4+ invuln saves do not make me like your unit either.
Having lots of infantry also makes the cost problem more evident. Needing to buy 1 $70-90 tank vs needing to buy 2 $60 boxes of infantry for the same point cost compounds more and more the larger the army you're playing.

Agents genuinely just need an actual roster with actual units (Repressors for the Arbites would be a good start), or to be a supplement to any Imperium army like you said. This "half of both" approach is the source of the problem.

If they went all-in on the supplement side, that could even open the way for Chaos and Xenos equivalents to actually have things like Demiurg and Gue'vesa auxiliaries for Tau, Ork Genestealers returning and Chaos Xenos being represented in-game.

But that would require GW to do something actually cool, which is utterly impossible.

They should also let auxiliaries use the main army rule, or get their own real army rule, none of this "the army rule is they can be allied in" bullshit. I can at least kind of understand why card games do this monofaction gimping because they put out so many different units that it probably makes balancing easier but in warhammer with a fraction of the number of units that's really no excuse.

Flamers are still good, but SoB flamers are not the new flamers so they're a downgrade from marine ones. If Dominions got the SoS treatment (even still relying on the Immolator splits) they'd be a top-tier unit in current meta.
Meltas are a casualty of the units you'd use meltas on getting powercreep in the toughness stat, coinflip invuln saves and too much movement on units you'd shoot with them. Making them s10 for SoB (like marines have on theirs) would help, but the t3 bodies holding them would still die instantly to the retaliation if you don't wipe your opponent's unit.
>>98892062
I put together a Chimera recently, it's from 2010. The ramp for the troop compartment needed a good bit of filing to fit all together because of mould issues. I can't imagine a 31 year old kit being easily assembled if a 16 year old one is already struggling that bad.
I've said it before, I want the Russ and Chimera to get refreshed (as in new moulds) retaining as much of the old design aesthetic as possible. A redesign would take the wind out of my sails for my childhood army.
>>98892068

A lot of the issues stem from removing FoC and the super strange idea that weapons gain different stats when someone else is holding them.
>>
>>98892120
The current Chimera is from 2010. The sprue says 2010 on it.
The model itself is unchanged from 1995, so yes the sculpt is 31 years old; that's why you still get the Basilisk walkways in a Chimera kit. It was re-moulded in 2010 based on the 1995 sculpt, so we're both correct.
>>98892127
GW treats the tabletop like it's a live service video game, and that's the source of a lot of these problems.

The Dorn is "heavy tank sitting at long distance," the Russ is "medium tank running aggressively forward" but also every other role a tank is in the guard.
The Centaur is "light transport with next to no armament," the Chimera is "heavy transport to support infantry that came up in it."

The Russ alone can't be replaced unless GW gives the Dorn 5 more turret options and halves its point cost.

Yea, it's to incentivize WAACfags and shitters to buy new armies instead of just new units to piecemeal into their existing armies.
WAACfags because they only care about winning
Shitters because they lose a bunch with their armies and say "it's the tool's fault, not the user" and believe they would win if they bought the fotm army (they're usually right to a degree).
>And they also don't even have the decency to distribute the digital rules competently

Well during 6/7th edition the Eldar Wraith Knight was intentionally made undercoated for its abilities.
Design team want to remove things to make it cheaper, but some corpo said to make it cheaper but keep all the abilities.
There is a history of making shit intentionally broken. The thing is GW after 4th lost a lot of the guys that actually had an idea about how to make rules so how good this thing end being is not always the result GW expected.
Something new is overpower? probably is intentional specially if it is too cheap point wise for what it does.
>>
>>98892178
>Shitters because they lose a bunch with their armies and say "it's the tool's fault, not the user"
I got so many cheap models when GSC got that odd 70%ish winrate in a single event during 9th if I recall correctly
>>
>>98892220
The only units that aren't a waste of points on the table right now for guard are tanks; we don't have enough orders to go around for them as-is, but they're all costed like they have every order available at all times. Indirect fire weapons are a coinflip at best, and that's before counting invuln saves, so they're largely ignored. HWS are too squishy to do anything but be a mental deterrent for deepstrike. Infantry are too soft all-around unless they're named "Bullgryn Squad."
We don't need to be cutting *anything* unless we get
>Hippogriff Commander
>Sentinel Commander
>Basilisk Commander
AND a new aggressive tank to sit in the role of "damage-dealer but also able to take damage" that the Russ Battle Tank/Demolisher do. The Hippogriff is too squishy and too fast to take this role, the Dorn is too slow and too big and wants to sit back due to its armaments.

Getting rid of the Russ would be an entire redesign of the guard.

Mass layoffs or something?
>>98892277
Flamers and maybe melta weapons are the only thing this works for though, and even that is kind of dubious. Marines are going to carry bigger bolters than sisters. A hulking ork is going to swing a sword far harder than a wiry banshee. Eldar in general are going to use different, magical, and probably better shit in their heat based weapons. Everyone makes their chainswords differently. And that's just the lore problems. Universalizing weapon stats causes even more problems on tabletop, honestly, and is going in the opposite direction of good balance. Doing so makes it far more difficult to have each faction be good at the niche that draws in their players while also making them suitably worse at other stuff to compensate.

>Mass layoffs or something?
No, original crew mostly fuck off to do other things. The few old guard that stay clearly needed the other guys to at least guide them
>A hulking ork is going to swing a sword far harder than a wiry banshee.
Ah you have not seen how older weapons worked?
For example Sword was S User AP3. What it made the difference was the user.
Ork would be S4 A2 so the sword would end being a S4 AP3 A2
Banshee was S3 A5 soo S3 AP3 A5. Same weapon very different use cases.
Guns worked rather similar
Plasma guns the main difference was the user. Plasma gun being hold by a marine hitting on 3+ vs a guardsmen hitting on 4+ made a massive difference.
Since plasma used to explode having the gun on body with a Sv3+ vs one with Sv5+.
Also Bolters in marines hands and humans hands are not that different to justify an entire stat line. There is a reason why Bolters used to have Pistol, Storm, Bolter and Heavy Bolter versions.
Adding a variation of Bolter for humans and marines forces the game to add another variation for their smaller and bigger versions too. Adding complexity for complexity sake with no real added benefit.
>>

>A hulking ork is going to swing a sword far harder than a wiry banshee.

So it's additive? That works fine. That's still an entirely different thing than "a weapon is the same no matter who uses it"(a dumb idea).

Adding individual stats to weapon stats to create a suitably unique profile that's easily read does seem way better though, yeah. I presume they moved away from this to bloat codexes more and make thicker books to justify the insane prices.

>>
>>98892428
In their race to the bottom to make the game as easy as possible for people to play, GW has created issues with balancing and faction flavor that didnt exist before. Yeah, before 9th ed its generally to say 40k was never balanced, but now the flaws with their current philosophy on stats and statlines are really showing themselves.

To use that anon's own example, yeah, an Ork has always hit harder than a Banshee. But a Banshee attacked QUICKER, and with the Initiative stat Eldar would often ensure the attacked before slower, stronger enemies like Orks. A Banshee would also be more proficient with their melee weapons than an Ork, so it was harder for the Ork to hit an Eldar in melee than it would be for them to hit something like a space marine.

Now with the statlines since 8th edition its more likely that whoever gets the charge will just pick up the other unit. The game as it plays out on the table is really uninteresting now and leave armies that traditionally relied on being fast and lithe as just being weak punching bags.

Because it lets them claim authority and their moral system encourages dishonesty when it gains their ideology power. It's fundamentally like lying for Jesus if the bible had a clause actively encouraging it.

Everyone hates 50/50 invuln saves on everything especially when you use a low shot but high S, AP, D, Giga cannon. Instead I've seen the idea floating around that invulns be changed to reduce AP like AoC. So using those new rules, athing with a 2+ 2++ works like this: Against Ap1,2 it saves on 2+. Against Ap 5 it saves on a 5+. 4+ 2++ would have AP1,2 save on 4+ while Ap 3 saves on 5+. I feel like that's a better way to represent extremely armoured units. Invulns representing things like void shields and the like is better represented in wound roll manipulation IMO.

Have you ever used a weapon?
A pistol is a pistol regardless who uses it. Same with a sword.
The difference is mostly behind the skill of the user.
Guy training every day with the same pistol will shoot it better than the new guy, but the damage will be the same. Main difference will be how reliable they damage something
Sword same thing, the edge will cut you regardless but using it properly will make the difference.
Also there is an example of weapons. If you looked at for example an Autocannon it would be the same Autocannon if a marine, ork, tau, eldar, ganger, sister, guard or necron hold it. granted some didn't have the weapon like the necrons, but if necron got hold of an autocannon it would be the same
As a result if a random said I'm shooting my Autocannons you would know exactly what the fuck the gun is going to do and at best worry about the hit roll and maybe some special rule like the Tau marker lights.
Is not like you can't make variants, but when you hear Autocannon you expect the 48" S7 AP4 Heavy 2, just because the Autocannon is on a Defilar or a truck it should not change its stat line.

Again, a guy who is 8 feet tall and 600+ pounds is going to use a bigger gun and sword than a normal-ass human.

Swords particularly are a terrible example because people skill directly translates into raw damage due to superior edge alignment and technique producing a deeper cut, though even guns can be viewed similarly because someone with better aim will hit a more lethal spot.

So at first you were arguing that the modern statlines must be wrong because weapons should all be the same, and now you want to argue that because the statlines were the same in the past that means that that's the proper way to do things.

Sounds like you don't have any actual reasoning at all and are just want things to be the way they were "back in the good old days." Why don't you get off the damn computer and go outside for once instead gramps?

It's always maddening when they try to "streamline the game" by removing fun and flavorful options and mechanics. Like, it's still nowhere close to being any kind of simple or elegant. If people are going to play 4 hour games they might as well have fun moment-to-moment experiences and not just a nebulous victory to inch towards point by arbitrary point.

>Again, a guy who is 8 feet tall and 600+ pounds is going to use a bigger gun and sword than a normal-ass human.
According to the RPG books, main difference between a marine and non-marine bolter is the quality of construction and ergonomics, but all of them were said to be the same .75 caliber. HH Black Books make plenty of the marine bolters have smaller caliber. So how tiny are non-marine bolters suppose to be? Munitorum Manual indicates bolters have a heavy recoil and require a strong individual to wield one. If bolters for humans were made different, why couldn't they make them usable by all? Besides, bolters predate marines. They were used by humans for thousands of years before marines came to the scene.
>>
>>98892486
They should just replace them with “Shielding X” keyword that gives you a 1 or 2 (whatever works out better in testing,) point damage reduction on a save roll of X. So like Terminators would have “Shielding 4+”
That way they’d still effectively have a invuln save against small saturation attacks on a 4+ but a lascannon or melta will still punch through some damage, think like they’re dissipating some while going through a Bladeguard Vet’s shield.

No one is saying they can't be different in the lore, but mechanics wise there is no reason to make a distinction in a wargame.
On RPG you can have the luxury or even in a small scale game with just 4 models per side, but even then I can't even recall a wargame that does it like nu 40k.
I mean even in WWii the rifles of the Japanese, Americans and Germans are noticeable different, but try to find a wargame where they go into mechanically difference for them in the rules

At best this shows things being a gray area. Marines are always going to get the best stuff in terms of ammo and other qualities, and the same principle still applies to melee weapons(and likely flamers and meltas since marines can carry bigger ones).

I don't even particularly mind if they do make marine bolters and sisters bolters the same, what I do mind is the assertion that they *should* be the same. If they do it for balance reasons, w/e. 40k stats by nature have a low-resolution reflection of the "lore power" of a weapon. But by the same token, there are also plenty of good reasons to make them different for balance reasons, and this guy tarding out about how they all have to be the same has no legs to stand on in either lore or balance.

In a D100 system the greatest difference is 4 points. So this obviously mean in a d6 with even less variances marines should have a totally different gun than the rest.
Mind you that 4. Point difference is just to distinguish the quality of the gun, both are shooting the same size bullets
